FORD 2001 EXPEDITION HAS A BLOWN SPARK PLUG. THE ENGINE COULD HAVE CAUGHT ON FIRE WHILE I DROVE THE TRUCK WITH THE VAPORS POURING OUT OF THE PLUG SPOT (WHICH FLEW OUT OF THE ENGINE ON TO THE ROAD SOME WHERE BEHIND ME). FORD KNOWS THIS IS AN ENGINE DEFECT. WHY ARE WE NOT HAVING A RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 FORD EXPEDITION EQUIPPED WITH CONTINENTAL CONTRI TRAC AW TIRES, LINE SIZE P275/60/R17. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 60 MPH WHEN THE TREAD OF THE REAR PASSENGER TIRE SEPARATED. THE CONTACT INSTALLED THE SPARE TIRE. HE STATED THAT HE HAD NOT NOTICED ANY PRIOR ISSUES WITH THE TIRE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE DOT NUMBER WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 85,230 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 85,239.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 FORD EXPEDITION EDDIE BAUER EDITION. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED, THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS ON FIRE WHICH ORIGINATED FROM UNDER THE HOOD. THE CONTACTS FAMILY WAS ABLE TO EXTINGUISH THE FIRE. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICEL WAS DESTROYED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 115,000.
THE SPARK PLUG (PASSENGER SIDE, SECOND BACK FROM FRONT OF ENGINE) EJECTED FROM THE ENGINE HEAD WHILE PARKED. WE HAD DRIVEN FOR 20 MINUTES, STOPPED AT A RESTAURANT, TURNED OFF THE ENGINE, BUT RESTARTED IT WITHIN ABOUT 60 SECONDS. THE SPARK PLUG EJECTED IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE ENGINE WAS RESTARTED, WITHIN 1 SECOND. THERE WERE NO INJURIES, AND THE VEHICLE WAS NOT IN MOTION AT THE TIME. MY ENTIRE FAMILY WAS IN THE VEHICLE AT THE TIME. THE SOUND OF THE EJECTION WAS SUFFICIENTLY LOUD THAT IT RESEMBLED A GUNSHOT, TO WHICH AN OFF-DUTY OFFICER REACTED. THE COIL PACK WAS DAMAGED BEYOND USE, THE SPARK PLUG INSULATOR SHATTERED. THE PLUGS APPEARED TO BE ORIGINAL MOTORCRAFT PLUGS, ALTHOUGH AT 130K MILES, THEY WOULD BE VERY OLD. THEY HAD SUFFICIENT CARBON AND WEAR THAT THEY COULD BE ORIGINAL PLUGS OR PLUGS FROM THE FIRST SCHEDULED REPLACEMENT (IF IT WAS DONE). REPAIRS HAVE NOT YET BEEN PERFORMED. *TR
WHILE STARTING THE VEHICLE I HEARD A LOUD POP FROM THE ENGINE... WHEN I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE MECHANIC #8 SPARKPLUG BLEW OUT, DAMAGED THE HEAD AND PISTON....LOOKING AROUND $1200.00 IN REPAIRS PLUS CAR RENTAL. SPARKPLUGS GOT WATER IN THEM 3 DIFFERENT TIMES BEFORE THEY NEED TO INVESTIGATE THIS PROBLEM. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 FORD EXPEDITION. WHILE DRIVING 15 MPH, THERE WAS A LOUD, UNUSUAL POP HEARD FROM THE HOOD AREA. THE CONTACT MOVED OFF THE ROADWAY AND DISCOVERED THAT THE SPARK PLUGS HAD FRACTURED FROM THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE CONTACT'S PLACE OF RESIDENCE. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED AND THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 114,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 FORD EXPEDITION. THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN FRONT OF THE CONTACT'S HOME WHEN IT CAUGHT ON FIRE. THERE WERE FLAMES SHOOTING FROM UNDER THE HOOD OF THE VEHICLE. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS CALLED TO EXTINGUISH THE FIRE. A FIRE REPORT WAS AVAILABLE. THERE WERE NO PRIOR WARNINGS INDICATING THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED FOR THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 95,000.
I WAS DRIVING MY FAMILY HOME FROM YELLOWSTONE ON I25, WHEN OUR 2001 FORD EXPEDITION BLEW A SPARK PLUG. WE WERE MILES FROM ANYWHERE WITH A TOW TRUCK, AND IT TOOK OVER 2 HOURS BEFORE A TOW TRUCK OPERATOR GOT US. AT THE SAME TIME, AN ESCAPED MURDERER WAS HITCHHIKING DOWN A DIFFERENT ROUTE HOME. (WHAT IF WE HAD CHOSEN THAT ROUTE?) I RENTED A CAR TO DRIVE HOME, AND IT LOOKS LIKE WE WERE WAY OVERCHARGED FOR THE REPAIR. ($3500). *TR

LEAKING WINDSHIELD CAUSING DIFFERENT SYSTEMS TO ACT UNPREDICTABLY. CURRENTLY AC BLOWER FAN CIRCUIT BLOWN (FIXED 4X), CRUISE CONTROL DEAD AFTER INTERMITTENTLY WORKING (HIGH POTENTIAL OF FATALITY IF ACCELERATION OUT OF CONTROL). RADIO COMES ON AN OFF. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON CONTINUOUSLY. NUMEROUS CODES SHOWING UP EVEN AFTER DELETING. THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN OCCURRING FOR YEARS ( AT LEAST 4 YEARS). THE WINDSHIELD HAS TO BE REPLACED AS PER TECHNICIAN BUT I STRONGLY FEEL THAT FORD SHOULD JUST PLUG THE LEAK FOR ALL THE EXPEDITIONS AND NAVIGATORS BEING AFFECTED BY THIS. OTHERS HAVE HAD MORE SERIOUS PROBLEM - WINDOWS OPENING AND CLOSING AUTOMATICALLY (NO USER ACTION). *TR
MY FAMILY'S FORD EXPEDITION HAD A GOODRICH LONG TRAIL T/A TIRE DISINTEGRATE DUE TO PLY SEPARATION. WE DID NOT HIT ANYTHING AND THE TIRE WAS PROPERLY INFLATED. THIS HAPPENED AT 10:30 PM ON A 70 MPH HIGHWAY. *TR
2001 FORD EXPEDITION WAS BEING DRIVEN AROUND 40MPH WHEN THE STEERING WHEEL AND BRAKES FAILED TO WORK. WITH THE HELP OF MY PASSENGER, WE WERE ABLE TO PULL HARD ON STEERING WHEEL AND GET IT TO TURN OFF ROAD AND INTO PARKING LOT. VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO CROSS SEVERAL LANES SAFELY ONLY BECAUSE THERE WAS NO TRAFFIC CLOSE ENOUGH TO BLOCK OR CHALLENGE THIS EMERGENCY NEED. BRAKES WOULD NOT RESPOND WELL EITHER. ACCIDENT AND INJURY COULD HAVE EASILY HAPPENED. AIR CONDITIONING REMAINED RUNNING LIKE NORMAL BUT THE OIL AND BATTERY LIGHTS CAME ON AFTER INCIDENT BEGAN. ONCE STOPPED, THE VEHICLE KEY WAS TURNED TO THE "OFF" POSITION AND THEN TURNED ON AGAIN. THE STEERING AND BRAKES BEGAN WORKING AGAIN. IT WAS DRIVEN SLOWLY HOME WHERE IT REMAINS. IT IS VERY DANGEROUS TO HAVE A LARGE VEHICLE LOSE STEERING AND BRAKES WHILE BEING DRIVEN. I COULD NOT HAVE STEERED CLEAR OR STOPPED FOR PERSONS OR VEHICLES. A VERY HAZARDOUS CONDITION THAT WARRANTS INVESTIGATION. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2001 FORD EXPEDITION. SHE STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED FOR 2 DAYS WITHOUT OPERATION YET THE VEHICLE CAUGHT ON FIRE. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS ABLE TO EXTINGUISH THE FIRE. A FIRE REPORT WAS AVAILABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN UNDISCLOSED LOCATION. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND ADVISED THE CONTACT TO SUBMIT ALL DOCUMENTATION PERTAINING TO THE FIRE BEFORE THEY WOULD PROVIDE ANY ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE APPROXIMATELY 90,000.
FOR THE PAST MONTH I HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCE ELECTRICAL ISSUES WITH MY 2001 FORD EXPEDITION AFTER HEAVY RAINFALLS. ON TWO SEPARATE OCCASIONS I HAVE HAD TO GET A JUMP TO START MY TRUCK AFTER IT RAINS AND ONCE IT STARTS THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM SEEMS TO GO HAYWIRE. THE RADIO TURNS ON AND OFF AND THERE ARE CLICKING NOISES. THE VENT TURNS ON AND OFF BY ITSELF ETC. THE MOST IMPORTANT OF THESE MALFUNCTIONS INCLUDES THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS. ON TWO OCCASIONS I HAVE BEEN DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY DURING THESE ELECTRICAL EVENTS (WHILE RAINING) AND MY WINDSHIELD WIPERS HAVE STOPPED WORKING. EACH TIME I COULD NOT SEE A THING BUT WAS ABLE TO SAFELY PULL OVER TO THE SHOULDER OF THE ROAD AND EVENTUALLY THEY START WORKING AGAIN. TO ME THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD AND BY DOING RESEARCH ON THE WEB I CAN SEE THAT I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE THAT HAS HAD THIS ISSUE WITH AN EXPEDITION BETWEEN 1998-2001. MANY HAVE EXPERIENCED THE SAME THING. APPARENTLY WATER LEAKS THROUGH THE WINDSHIELD AND INTO THE FUSE BOX OR GEM MODULE. WHAT DOES IT TAKE FOR A RECALL LOSS OF LIFE? I AM REALLY DISAPPOINTED THAT SO MANY SAFETY ISSUES HAVE COME UP SURROUNDING THE ELECTRICAL MALFUNCTIONS ON THESE TRUCKS AND NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE ABOUT IT. PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF I CAN GET ASSISTANCE WITH GETTING THIS REPAIRED AS WELL AS OTHERS WHO ARE GOING THROUGH THE SAME THINGS. IF FORD IS WILLING TO RISK A LIFE PRIOR TO HELPING FIX A KNOWN ISSUE I DO NOT THINK I WILL BE PURCHASING ANOTHER FORD AGAIN. *TR
FOR THE 5TH TIME, MY FORD EXPEDITION (2001) HAS BLOWN A SPARK PLUG FROM THE ENGINE. I HAVE NOW SUNK THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS INTO REPAIRING THIS DEFECT, FURTHERMORE, I HAVE BEEN STRANDED ON A HIGHWAY OR CITY STREET WITH MY CHILDREN IN THE CAR 2 TIMES THANKS TO THIS UNSAFE DEFECT. TL*-THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 FORD EXPEDITION. WHILE THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 10 MPH THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED AND SUDDENLY LOSS CONTROL WHICH CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO CRASH INTO A TREE. THE ENGINE REVVED AFTER THE CRASH AND THE WHEELS CONTINUED TO SPIN. THE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED DURING THE CRASH. THE CONTACT AND FRONT SEAT PASSENGER SUSTAINED MILD INJURIES. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED OF THE INCIDENT. CURRENTLY, THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED AT THE RESIDENCE DRIVEWAY. THE CONTACT STATED BEFORE AN AUTHORIZED DEALER PERFORMED REPAIRS AN APPRAISER MUST INSPECT THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 89,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 FORD EXPEDITION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BRAKE LIGHTS WOULD ILLUMINATE WITHOUT WARNING AND THE CRUISE CONTROL WAS INOPERABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 05V388000 (VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL) BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL MECHANIC FOR INSPECTION BUT WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE BUT DID NOT PROVIDE ANY ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNAVAILABLE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 180,000.
DRIVERS SIDE WINDOW ACTUATOR FAILED CAUSING WINDOW TO SUDDENLY DROP INTO DOOR WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS IN 25 DEGREE WEATHER. THIS IS MY FIRST OCCURRENCE WITH THIS HAPPENING (BUT I JUST BOUGHT THIS USED TRUCK LESS THAN A WEEK AGO) BUT IN DOING RESEARCH IT APPEARS TO BE A VERY COMMON PROBLEM RESULTING IN NUMEROUS ACCIDENTS. *TR

I TURNED ON PARKSIDE AVE AS I WAS DRIVING MY 9 YEAR OLD SON STATED THAT THE CAR WAS SMOKING. I TOLD HIM OK I'M GOING TO PULL OVER. AS I WAS ABOUT TO PULL OVER IT STARTED TO CATCH FIRE. MY CHILDREN STARTED SCREAMING THE CAR IS ON FIRE, THE CAR IS ON FIRE. I SAID TO THEM IT'S GOING TO TO BE ALRIGHT. I STARTED PULLING THEM OUT BY THERE SHIRTS, ARMS, LEGS WHATEVER I COULD GRAB. WE ALL GOT OUT SAFE THANK GOD. MY 2 YEAR DAUGHTER IS STILL AFRAID OF BIG TRUCKS AND STILL TALK ABOUT THE FIRE TODAY. I LOST MY CHILDREN CLOTHES (SCHOOL UNIFORMS) AND SOME SHORTS I BOUGHT EARLIER THAT DAY. I LOST THERE BOOK BAGS, AND MY PURSE. I ALSO ALWAYS CARRY 2 OR THREE PAIRS OF SHOES IN MY TRUCK AT ALL TIMES THEY ARE ALSO GONE. I LOST MY NICE RADIO I GOT FROM THE FLEA MARKET. I AM DEVASTATED AND I JUST PAID OFF MY TRUCK A WEEK BEFORE IT BURNED UP. I HAVE BEEN ON THE BUS SINCE THEN WITH ALL 4 OF MY CHILDREN. I TRYING MY BEST TO MAKE IT BUT IT IS HARD. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 FORD EXPEDITION. ON FEBRUARY 19, 2010 WHILE DRIVING AT 15 MPH, SMOKE BEGAN TO EMIT FROM THE HOOD. THE CONTACT PULLED OVER AND THE VEHICLE CAUGHT FIRE. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER BUT WAS OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE AT THE TIME OF THE COMPLAINT. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE APPROXIMATELY 150,000.

ON 02/13/10 AT APPROXIMATELY 10:30 A.M., I WAS DRIVING MY 2001 FORD EXPEDITION WITH THE 5.4 LITER V-8 DOWN US HIGHWAY 151 NORTH OF FOND DU LAC, WISCONSIN. THE THROTTLE/ACCELERATOR STUCK AND THE EXPEDITION ACCELERATED TO OVER 60 MILES PER HOUR. I APPLIED THE BRAKES TO SLOW DOWN TO AVOID AN ACCIDENT. THE ENGINE CONTINUED TO RACE AND THE BACK TIRES SPUN ON THE ICE AND THE FRONT TIRES STOPPED AS I CAME TO A STOP UPON THE ICE. I TURNED THE IGNITION OFF. AFTER A FEW MINUTES, I STARTED THE 5.4 LITER ENGINE AGAIN. THE ENGINE RACED AGAIN WITH RPMS REACHING OVER 5000 RPMS. I QUICKLY TURNED OFF THE ENGINE IGNITION AGAIN AND OPENED THE HOOD AND CHECKED FOR OBSTRUCTIONS. NO APPARENT OBSTRUCTIONS. AFTER A FEW MOMENTS, I STARTED THE ENGINE AGAIN AND THE ENGINE IDLED DOWN TO NORMAL RPM. I HAD AN ADULT PASSENGER IN THE VEHICLE THAT WITNESSED THE THROTTLE/ACCELERATOR STICK.*TR
LEAKING WINDSHIELD AND ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS ON OUR 2001 EXPEDITION, WORRIED ABOUT A POSSIBLE FIRE. *TR
BLOWN OUT SPARK PLUG FROM 2001 FORD EXPEDITION TRITON 4.6L ENGINE DURING OPERATION ON A PUBLIC ROAD. THE SECOND SPARK PLUG ON THE PASSENGER SIDE BLEW OUT OF THE ENGINE WHILE IT WAS BEING DRIVEN ON THE ROAD. THIS MADE A LOUD "BANG" SOUND AS IF A TIRE BLEW OUT. THE LOUD SOUND CONTINUED LIKE A LOUD EXHAUST LEAK AND GASOLINE VAPORS WERE IMMEDIATELY PRESENT IN THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT. THE DRIVER SHUT OFF THE ENGINE TO PREVENT AN ENGINE FIRE AFTER ATTEMPTING TO SAFELY PARK ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WHILE AVOIDING MOVING TRAFFIC. THIS REQUIRED AGGRESSIVE MANEUVERING TO AVOID MOVING TRAFFIC. THE CAR IS NOW AWAITING REPAIRS, WHICH IS EST. AT >$3,000. THE MECHANIC REPORTED THAT THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM ON FORD VEHICLES WITH THE TRITON ENGINE. I HAVE NEVER BEFORE SEEN A SPARK PLUG "BLOWN" OUT OF THE SOCKET LIKE THIS. THE PLUGS WERE REPLACED ONCE AT ABOUT 50K MILES. THE ENGINE HAS ABOUT 110K MILES TODAY. *TR
WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD IN HEAVY RAIN WHEN WINDSHIELD WIPERS STOPPED WORKING. COULD NOT SEE 2 FEET INFRONT OF ME, SO I WAS FORCED TO PULL OVER ON A BUSY ROAD. PUT THE TRUCK IN PARK, AND WIPERS STARTED WORKING. PUT BACK IN DRIVE AND THEY STOPPED. FINALLY THE RAIN SLOWED ENOUGH FOR ME TO DRIVE WITH OUT THE WIPERS, VERY UNSAFE! WHEN I GOT HOME, I TURNED THE KEY OFF, PULLED THEM OUT OF THE IGNITION AND THE HEATER KEPT RUNNING. I HAD TO TURN IT TO OFF POSITION. LIGHTS ON GAUGE CLUSTER WERE FLICKERING TOO. OPENED DRIVER SIDE DOOR AND RADIO STAYED ON. HAD TO MANUALLY TURN THAT OFF AS WELL. SMELLED SOMETHING BURNING, SO I QUICKLY UNHOOKED THE BATTERY. CAME BACK A COUPLE HOURS LATER, CONNECTED BATTERY, NOW VEHICLE WONT START! WILL TURN OVER, BUT WONT CRANK. DID SOME RESEARCH AND FOUND THAT THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH MANY DIFFERENT FORD VEHICLES! PROBLEM IS CAUSED BY A FAULTY WINDSHIELD, ALLOWING WATER TO LEAK INTO THE CAB, BEHIND THE DASH, AND GET WATER ON THE GEM AND FUSEBOX, CREATING CORROSION. THESE PROBLEMS COULD BE VERY UNSAFE! POSSIBLE FIRE FROM ELECTRIC SHORT, POSSIBLE INJURY/DEATH FROM WIPERS QUITTING WHILE DRIVING. FORD SHOULD TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THEIR FAULTY DESIGN! *TR
THERE SEEMS TO BE ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS CAUSED BY A LEAKING WINDSHIELD. THIS CAUSES ERRATIC BEHAVIOR IN THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM AND I EXPERIENCE ELECTRICAL SHOCK WHEN I TOUCHED THE VEHICLE. I WILL CAUSE ACCIDENTS IF IT INTERFERE WITH THE POWER STEERING. THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM IN THIS VEHICLE ACCORDING TO THE DEALERSHIP - THEY SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THERE MISTAKE - NOT SLAM THE CONSUMER WITH A $1000 REPAIR BILL. *TR
PARKED VEHICLE AT STORE AND TURNED IT OFF GOT OUT AND WENT INSIDE. THEN SOMEONE CAME INSIDE AND SAID THAT A BLACK SUV WAS ON FIRE. RETURNED TO CAR AND HURRIED AND OPENED THE HOOD. HAD A DRINK IN THE TRUCK SO GOT IT AND THREW IT ON THE FIRE GOT IT PUT OUT AND LOOKED IT HAD STARTED AT THE MASTER CYLINDER AND CRUISE CONTROL SENSOR. *TR

SINCE REPAIRS, THE CONTACT STATED THE ENGINE WOULD EXHIBIT AN UNUSUALLY HIGH INCREASE IN RPMS WHEN UTILIZING THE CRUISE CONTROL. I PARKED MY 2001 FORD EXPEDITION XLT SUV IN MY PARKING STALL ON THE AFTERNOON OF NOVEMBER 2, 2009 AT APPROXIMATELY 1600HRS. THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED UNTIL TIME OF THE FIRE WHICH OCCURRED BETWEEN 1600HRS AND 2325HRS. THE ENTIRE ENGINE COMPARTMENT BURNED THE FIRE WAS SO INTENSE THAT THE HOOD OF THE CAR COMPLETELY MELTED AWAY. THE VEHICLE WAS TURNED-OFF AND PARKED IN THE PARKING LOT AT MY OFFICE AT EGLIN AIR FORCE BASE, FLORIDA WHEN THE FIRE STARTED. AFTER THE FIRE, I LEARNED THAT THERE WAS A RECALL FOR MY FORD TRUCK BECAUSE OF THIS EXACT PROBLEM -- AS A 20-YEAR ACTIVE DUTY MILITARY VETERAN, I WAS NEVER NOTIFIED BY FORD ABOUT THIS POTENTIAL HAZARD. I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD WITH MY 4 CHILDREN INSIDE WHEN WE HEARD A LOUD EXPLOSION, MY FORD EXPEDITION ENGINE SOUNDED LIKE THERE WAS SOMETHING VERY WRONG. WE PULLED INTO A GAS STATION, LIFTED THE HOOD AND YOU COULD SMELL THE GAS AND FEEL AIR BLOWING OUTSIDE OF WEAR THE SPARK PLUG USED TO BE. WE TOWED IT TO A MECHANIC, WE WERE TOLD THAT OUR SPARK PLUG BLEW OUT TAKING THE COIL PACK WITH IT. THIS IS THE FIRST TIME WE HAVE HAD A SPARK PLUG BLOW OUT BUT WE HAVE HAD TO REPLACE 4 OTHER SPARK PLUGS AND COIL PACKS BECAUSE THEY KEEP WORKING THEIR WAY OUT CAUSING THE ENGINE TO RUN ROUGH AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TO COME ON. WE HAVE THREE MORE PLUGS AND COILS THAT HAVEN'T BEEN REPLACED. I AM SCARED THAT AT ANY TIME WE COULD BLOW ANOTHER SPARK PLUG AND CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. I HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT THERE ISN'T ANY THING I CAN DO TO PREVENT THIS PROBLEM FROM HAPPENING AGAIN. THE MECHANIC SAID IT IS VERY LIKELY THAT THE OTHER PLUGS WILL HAVE TO BE REPLACED IN THE FUTURE BUT CURRENTLY THE ARE WORKING. THE SPARK PLUG THAT BLEW OUT IS ALONG THE ROAD SOMEWHERE BUT I STILL HAVE THE SPARK PLUGS THAT HAVEN'T BEEN REPLACED. THE SPARK PLUGS ARE HAVING TO BE REPLACED EVERY MONTH OR SO, ONE AT A TIME. MY ENGINE STILL HAS THREE MORE SPARK PLUGS THAT COULD BLOW OUT. LUCKILY,WHEN THIS HAPPENED THERE WASN'T A FIRE. YOU CAN SMELL THE GAS FUMES WHEN THIS HAPPENS. WE HAVE ALWAYS MAINTAINED OUR VEHICLE BY A MECHANIC, THIS IS THE FIRST TIME WE HAVE EVER HAD A RECURRING PROBLEM. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER THIS MORNING THEY REPLACE THE FAULTY COMPONENT AS INSTRUCTED BY THE RECALL NOTICE; HOWEVER, THE PROBLEM STILL EXIST. FURTHER INVESTIGATION POINTED OUT THAT NOW, THE CRUISE CONTROL SERVO AND PLUG IS WHAT IS CAUSING THE SHORT IN THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. WHEN I RECEIVED THE RECALL NOTICE A FEW YEARS AGO THE DEALER THE DEALERS RESOLUTION WAS TO DISCONNECT THE WORKING CRUISE CONTROL AND NOW IT BECOME PROBLEMATIC PERHAPS FROM HAVING AN EXPOSED PLUG CREATING A FIRE HAZARD. FORD MOTOR COMPANY REFUSES TO PAY FOR THE RELATED DAMAGES RESULTING IN A SHORT IN THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM THUS RESULTING IN A POTENTIAL CREATING A FIRE HAZARD. THE TECHNICIAN MENTIONED THE SWITCH WAS LEAKING AND IT APPEARS MY VEHICLE WAS ABOUT TO CATCH ON FIRE. NOW THEY INSIST I SHOULD COME OUT OF POCKET TO PAY OVER $850 TO CLEAN UP THE MESS RESULTING FROM THEIR DESIGN FLAW AND CURRENT RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE OF THE FAILURE AND DENIED ASSISTANCE WITH THE REPAIR. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 79,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHO ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT WATER WAS LEAKING INTO THE VEHICLE THROUGH THE WINDSHIELD AND THE WINDSHIELD WOULD NEED REPLACING. THE WINDSHIELD WAS REPLACED YET THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER BUT THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE OR DIAGNOSE WHERE THE LEAK WAS COMING FROM. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THEY COULD OFFER NO ASSISTANCE WITHOUT AN ACCURATE DIAGNOSIS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 98,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 121,000.
