WINDSHIELD LEAKING - CAUSING ELECTRICAL BOX TO SHORT OUT AND THEREFORE EVERYTHING ELECTRIAL MALFUNCTION - ITEMS COME ON GOING DOWN THE ROAD WHILE YOU ARE DRIVING - DANGEROUS
TL* - THE CONTACT STATED THAT HIS 2001 FORD EXPEDITION CAUGHT ON FIRE IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. THE CONTACT HAD DRIVEN THE VEHICLE APPROXIMATELY 8 HOURS EARLIER AND THERE HAD BEEN NO WARNING SIGNS. A WITNESS TOLD THE CONTACT THAT HIS VEHICLE WAS ON FIRE IN THE DRIVEWAY. THE CONTACT STATED THERE HAD NOT BEEN ANY RECENT REPAIR WORK DONE TO THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE HAD APPROXIMATELY 110,000 MILES. THE ENGINE AND DASH AREA BURNED. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE CONTACT HAS A POLICE AND FIRE REPORT. *JB UPDATED 2/27/2007 - *NM
TL*- THE CONTACT HAS A 2001 FORD EXPEDITION WITH AN ODOMETER READING OF 100,010 MILES. THE CONTACT STATED THAT UNDER WET OR SNOWING CONDITIONS THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT START. WHEN THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER THEY TOLD HIM THAT THE VEHICLE HAD A BATTERY PROBLEM. THE CONTACT HAD CHANGED THE BATTERY SEVERAL TIMES, BUT THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO HAVE THE PROBLEM. THE CONTACT LATER FOUND THAT HIS WINDSHIELD WAS LEAKING WATER TO THE FUSE BOX UNDER WET CONDITIONS WHICH WAS THE CAUSED THE REAR WINDSHIELD WIPER TO STOP WORKING. THE DEALER REPAIRED THE FAILURE.
SEAT BELT LATCH FAILED THEN FRONT AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. *JB
SEAT BELT RETRACT MECHANISM WEAK ON DRIVERS SIDE. OFTEN DOES NOT RETRACT AND DOOR SLAMS ON IT. FOUND THIS ALSO TO BE TRUE FOR MY DADS 2001 FORD RANGER. *NM
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE VEHICLE WAS IN AN ACCIDENT IN AN INTERSECTION WHILE TRAVELING 40 MPH AND THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE SERVICE DEALER BUT THE REASON WHY THE AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY HAD NOT BEEN DETERMINED. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE INSURANCE COMPANY DEEMED THE VEHICLE TOTALLED. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 FORD EXPEDITION. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED NEXT TO THE HOUSE, THE FIRE DEPARTMENT CALLED AND STATED THAT THE HOUSE WAS ON FIRE. THE FIRE ORIGINATED IN THE VEHICLE. A FIRE REPORT WAS FILED. AN INVESTIGATOR FROM HIS HOME OWNER'S INSURANCE COMPANY STATED THAT THE FIRE WAS CAUSED BY THE CRUISE CONTROL SWITCH. THE CONTACT NEVER RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE. THE FIRE DAMAGED THE HOUSE. HE NOTIFIED THE MANUFACTURER, BUT THEY HAVE NOT PROVIDED ANY ASSISTANCE. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 95,000.
I BOUGHT MY 2001 FORD EXPEDITION BRAND NEW. SINCE THEN I HAVE HAD NUMEROUS TIMES WHEN MY TRUCK HAS SURGED. IT HAS HAPPENED WHILE WAITING AT AN INTERSECTION WITH MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE. THE TRUCK SURGES AS IF SOMEONE HAS STEPPED ON THE ACCELERATOR. EVEN THE RADIO GET LOUDER. LUCKILY I HAVE ALWAYS HAD MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE FIRMLY. IT HAS EVEN HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING. ALL OF A SUDDEN THE TRUCK ACCELERATES WITHOUT MY CHANGING PRESSURE ON THE GAS PEDAL. THANKFULLY I HAVE NEVER HAD AN ACCIDENT. IT IS VERY NERVE RACKING AND DANGEROUS. I AM VERY NERVOUS HAVING MY CHILDREN IN THE VEHICLE. I HAVE TAKEN MY TRUCK TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY HAVE SAID THAT THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH IT. PLEASE INVESTIGATE THIS ISSUE SINCE THERE IS A GREAT POSSIBILITY OF ACCIDENTS. *NM
I HAVE A 2001 FORD EXPEDITION 5.4. I WAS DRIVING HOME WITH MY TWO CHILDREN WHEN I HEARD A LOUD BANG/POP AND MY TRUCK CAME TO A HALT. I HAD IT TOWED TO A LOCAL REPAIR SHOP TO FIND OUT THE NOISE I HEARD WAS MY SPARK PLUG THAT HAD BLOWN OUT AND HIT THE ALUMINUM HEADS CAUSING DAMAGE. THE HEADS WERE SENT OUT TO A MACHINE SHOP AND WHEN IT WAS ALL SAID AND DONE, I PAID OVER $3,000 TO FIX IT. A FEW DAYS AFTER PICKING IT UP, I HAD TO TAKE IT BACK IN BECAUSE A COOL PACK WENT BAD, THIS WAS LIKE MY THIRD ONE SO FAR. THIS ALL HAPPENED IN OCTOBER 2006 AND NOT EVEN 6 MONTHS LATER IN MARCH OR APRIL, MY TRUCK WAS BACK TO BARELY RUNNING/MOVING. I HAD IT TOWED AGAIN AND ONCE AGAIN ITS THE ENGINE. IT HAS BEEN A VISCOUS CYCLE AND ONE THING AFTER ANOTHER. IT WILL COST ME AT LEAST $5,000. TO REPLACE THE MOTOR WITH JUST A REMANUFACTURED ONE. IN THE LAST YEAR THE TRUCK HAS SAT IN MY YARD MORE THAN HALF THE TIME DUE TO ENGINE TROUBLE. I AM UNABLE TO GET TO AND FROM WORK WHICH IS CAUSING MY FAMILY MAJOR FINANCIAL STRESS. I CANNOT AFFORD TO FIX THIS AGAIN. I STILL OWE OVER $15,000. ON THE TRUCK AND AM PAYING $420. PER MONTH FOR SOMETHING NOT EVEN RUNNING. I AM STUCK BETWEEN A ROCK AND A HARD PLACE. I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY FORD WILL NOT STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCT. ANY HELP/ADVICE WILL BE GREATLY APPRECIATED. *TR
I HAD A MISFIRE ON #7 SPARK PLUG ON MY 2001 FORD EXPEDITION. IT WAS REPAIRED ON FRIDAY AT A SHOP. SATURDAY AFTERNOON @ 12:30 # 2 SPARK PLUG WAS BLOWN OUT OF THE ENGINE COMPLETELY NOW IT HAS A BLOWN MOTOR. I HAVE OWNED THIS SUV FOR 4 MONTHS. I HAVE THE OLD SPARK PLUG AND COIL PACK FROM #7 AND I ONLY HAVE THE COIL PACK FOR #2 THE REST OF IT IS MISSING. FROM ALL I HAVE READ ON LINE IM NOT ALONE. *NM
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED ON ITS OWN WHILE APPROACHING A TRAFFIC LIGHT TRAVELING 5-10 MPH. THE CRUISE CONTROL WAS NOT ACTIVATED AT THE TIME. THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE WHILE STOPPED AT THE LIGHT. IN ORDER TO STOP THE ACCELERATION THE CONTACT PUT THE VEHICLE IN THE PARK POSITION. THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO DRIVE NORMALLY AFTER PULLING OUT FROM THE LIGHT; HOWEVER THE PROBLEM REOCCURRED. THIS HAS GOTTEN PROGRESSIVELY WORSE OVER THE LAST TWO WEEKS. THE DEALERSHIP HAS BEEN INFORMED AND DETERMINED THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL; HOWEVER CONCLUDED THIS SPECIFIC PROBLEM WAS NOT ONE OF THE CHARACTERISTICS OF THAT RECALL. THE NHTSA RECALL NUMBER IS: 05V388000, REGARDING THE VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL.
THE DRIVERS SEAT BELT RELEASES PERIODICALLY FOR NO APPARENT REASON. THE SEAT BELT WILL FASTEN WITH A CLICK AND APPEARS SECURELY FASTENED. THEN OCCASIONALLY (AT LEAST ONCE PER WEEK) WHILE DRIVING IT WILL RELEASE FOR NO APPARENT REASON. THIS HAS BEEN OCCURING OVER THE PAST 6 MONTHS (AT LEAST).
UNDERBODY SPARE TIRE CARRIER/WINCH CABLE FAILED CAUSING THE SPARE TO FALL INTO THE ROAD. I BELIEVE THAT THERE IS A SMALL METAL PIECE PRESSED ONTO THE END OF THE CABLE WHICH BROKE OFF. NO ACCIDENT OR INJURY RESULTED BUT IF THE TIRE HAD FALLEN AT HIGHWAY SPEED IT COULD HAVE KILLED SOMEONE. *NM
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 20 MPH, THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FAILED AT 80000 MILES. THE CONTACT FOUND INFORMATION ONLINE THAT THIS VEHICLE HAD A TENDENCY FOR EARLY FAILURE. A NON-SERVICE DEALER STATED THAT THESE TRANSMISSIONS CONSISTENTLY FAILED AT ABOUT 80000 MILES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A SERVICE DEALER. UPDATED 09/05/06. *JB
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH, THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTED INTO NEUTRAL INSTEAD OF OVERDRIVE. THE VEHICLE WAS SHUT OFF AND RESTARTED, WHICH MOMENTARILY FIXED THE PROBLEM. AFTER 20 MILES, HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE STAYED IN NEUTRAL AND WOULD NOT ENGAGE ANY OTHER GEAR. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A PRIVATE REPAIR SHOP, WHERE IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE INTERMEDIATE DIODE TEETH DETACHED, THE DIODE MOUNTING SNAP RING WAS FRACTURED, THE REVERSE CLUTCH HOUSING WAS SCORED, THE OVERDRIVE BAND WAS METAL CONTAMINATED, AND THE ONE-WAY CLUTCH WAS FRACTURED. THE MECHANIC NOTIFIED THE CONTACT THAT HAD BEEN A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE VEHICLE.
I BOUGHT A 2001 USED FORD EXPEDITION IN DECEMBER 2006. BY AUGUST 2007 WHILE IN HAY WAY 11 FROM EL CENTRO TO CALEXICO I MADE A STOP IN A STOPLIGHT IN HEBER AVENUE. AS I ACCELERATED I NOTICE THE CAR RUNNING ROUGHLY. I STOPPED AND OPEN THE HOOD AND I NOTICE THAT SPARK PLUG # 3 BLEW OUT OF ITS PLACE. I BOUGHT A NEW SPARK PLUG AND IT WOULD NOT FIT SINCE THE OLD SPARK PLUG DAMAGED THE HEAD. PIECES OF METAL WENT IN THE CYLINDER AND WARPED IT AS WELL AS THE PISTON. NO I HAVE TO PUT A NEW ENGINE IN SINCE I DO NOT HAVE EXTENDED WARRANTY AND THE COST IS ABOUT $2600 DLLS. I RESEARCHED THIS ISSUE IN THE NET AND WITH LOCAL MECHANICS AND I NOTICE THAT THERE ARE LOTS OF PEOPLE THAT HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THIS EXPEDITION OR F150. *TR
WHILE DRIVING AT LOW SPEED, THE NUMBER THREE SPARK PLUG SHOT OUT RENDERING MY 2001 FORD EXPEDITION UNUSABLE. FORTUNATELY, I WAS ABLE TO PULL OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE HEAVILY TRAVELED ROAD. UPON FURTHER RESEARCH, THIS APPEARS TO BE A VERY COMMON PROBLEM. *JB
THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM ON MY 2001 FORD EXPEDITION WAS COMPROMISED AND REQUIRED REPAIR DUE TO A LEAKING FRONT WINDSHIELD. DURING HEAVY RAINSTORMS THE WINDSHIELD LEAKED AND SOAKED MY ELECTRICAL BOX CAUSING SHORTAGES IN ALL OF MY ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS. DRIVING THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP, THE VEHICLES ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS WERE MALFUNCTIONING WHICH CAUSED SOME UNSAFE MOMENTS ON THE HIGHWAY. DEALER REPLACED ELECTRICAL BOX UNDER MY EXTENDED WARRANTY BUT I (OWNER) HAD TO REPLACE FRONT WINDSHIELD AT MY OWN COST. *NM
EVERY TIME IT RAINS, MY CAR WON'T START, FRONT DASH LIGHTS WILL TURN ON AUTOMATICALLY, WIPERS WON'T WORK, RADIO WON'T WORK, ABS AND THEFT LIGHT COMES ON, IT HAS SMOKED AND SOMETIMES SMELLS LIKE AN ELECTRICAL FIRE. WATER POOLS IN THE FRONT LEFT OF MY DASH, IT IS COMPLETELY RUSTED UNDERNEATH MY DASH ON THE LEFT SIDE. *TR
EXPERIENCED FAILURE OF SEVERAL ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS - ELECTRIC DOOR WINDOWS ON RIGHT FRONT, REAR WINDSHIELD WIPER, CRUISE CONTROL, INTERIOR LIGHTS WOULD NOT TURN OFF, BATTERY WORE DOWN, SUNROOF WINDOW. THE DEALER STATED THAT WATER GOT INTO THE CAR AND HAD TO REPLACE THE FUSE BOX AND COMPUTER AND THE SWITCH FOR THE FRONT RIGHT WINDOW. RETURNED WITH RIGHT FRONT DOOR WINDOW, AND REAR WIPER NOT WORKING AGAIN AND HAVE TO REPLACE THE MOTOR FOR THESE. *JB
MY WINDSHIELD ON MY 201 FORD EXPEDITION IS LEAKING AND HAS CAUSED MY GEM MODULE TO ACT UP. MOST NOTABLY WINDSHIELD WIPERS NOT WORKING, RADIO ON AND OFF. *NM
2001 FORD EXPEDITION WITH LESS THAN 52,000 MILES ON IT LUNGED FORWARD AT A STOP SIGN AND THEN WOULD NOT GO WHEN ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS PUSHED. FINALLY WENT AS I ENTERED THE FREEWAY WITH LUNGING AND DE-ACCELERATION FOR ABOUT 15-20 MILES. AS SOON AS I GOT OFF THE FREEWAY THE VEHICLE LUNGED FORWARD AND THEN LOCKED UP. I ESCAPED BEING HIT 2X BY TRYING TO PULL OVER. I LIMPED TO MY DESTINATION OF A BLOCK AND ENDED UP HAVING TO HAVE TRUCK TOWED TO A LOCAL DEALERSHIP ONLY TO FIND MY TRANSMISSION HAD FAILED. COST ME $3791 FOR WHAT I THOUGHT WAS A NEW TRANSMISSION AS QUOTED BY THE DEALERSHIP; WHEN I PICKED IT UP, IT WAS A REBUILT TRANSMISSION, NOT WHAT WE AGREED ON. SECONDLY, I HAD A SERVICE EXTENDED CONTRACT FOR 72 MONTHS OR 100,000 MILES WHICH THE DEALERSHIP FAILED TO REMIND ME ABOUT. NOR DID FORD WHEN THEY KNOW I WAS 2.5 HOURS AWAY FROM MY HOME OFFER ANY HELP TO GET HOME, RENTAL CAR OR EVEN A LOANER. I WAS WITHOUT TRANSPORTATION FOR AN ENTIRE WEEK. READING ABOUT THIS TRANSMISSION IT HAS BEEN A PROBLEM FOR YEARS WITH NO RECALL - THIS IS A SERIOUS DEFECT. *NM
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
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT 65 MPH, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED, AND THE VEHICLE LOST SPEED AND BEGAN TO BUCK. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A PRIVATE MECHANIC SHOP, WHERE IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THERE WAS AN ELECTRICAL SHORTAGE. THE NUMBER 8, 7, 5, AND 4 ENGINE COILS HAVE BEEN REPLACED ON THE VEHICLE. THE CONSUMER STATED THE NUMBER 7 & 5 COIL HAS BEEN REPLACED TWICE. UPDATED 07/25/06. *JB
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE FRONT WINDSHIELD LEAKED RAINWATER INTO THE VEHICLE AND THE DASH PANEL AREA. AFTERWARDS, THE POWER AND ELECTRICAL FEATURES DID NOT WORK. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY A DEALER WHO DETERMINED DUE TO THE HEAVY RAIN THE WINDSHIELD SEAL LEAKED AND THE WATER CAUSED AN ELECTRICAL FAILURE OF THE CENTRAL JUNCTION BOX.
ELECTRICAL HAZARD DUE TO WATER INTRUSION RESULTING FROM WINDSHIELD LEAK. 2001 FORD EXPEDITION EXPERIENCED SEVERAL ELECTRICAL FAILURES DURING RAIN STORM INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WINDSHIELD WIPER FAILURE, HEADLAMP FAILURE, WINDOW/DOOR LOCK FAILURE, AC RUNS WITH IGNITION OFF AND KEYS REMOVED, CAR ATTEMPTS TO START WITHOUT KEYS OR DRIVER. *JB
1. FORD FIRESTONE TIRE RECALL: 12/2/02 ALL TIRES REPLACED AS PER RECALL REQUIREMENTS. MILEAGE: 15750. 2. FRIDAY, 4/21/2006: DURING A ROAD TRIP THIS PAST WEEKEND, MY RIGHT FRONT TIRE SHREDDED. I HEARD THUDDING NOISES, PULLED OFF THE I-75, CHECKED AROUND MY 2001 FORD EXPEDITION, WAS UNABLE TO SEE ANYTHING WRONG. HOWEVER A FEW MILES LATER, I REALIZED SOMETHING WAS SERIOUSLY WRONG AND PULLED OFF OF THE FREEWAY. I CALLED 911 SOMETIME BETWEEN 3 AND 3:15 PM 4/21/06 FOR ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE. TIM THE TOWMAN TOWED MY VEHICLE OFF THE FREEWAY TO A NEARBY GAS STATION. THERE HE OBSERVED THAT THE RIGHT FRONT TIRE HAD SHREDDED. THE SHREDDING PROCESS CAUSED DAMAGE AS FOLLOWS: A) RIGHT FRONT BUMPER NOW DANGLES BECAUSE SCREWS SHEARED OFF APPARENTLY; B) TIRE CASING NEEDS TO BE RESECURED, SINCE IT WAS FLAPPING. C) THERE MAY BE ADDITIONAL DAMAGE TO THE UNDERCARRIAGE AS WELL AS CABLES. EST. MILEAGE: 47600. 3. TIM THE TOWMAN REPLACED THE SHREDDED TIRE WITH MY FULL-SIZE SPARE. HE USED TWINE TO TEMPORARILY SUPPORT THE RF BUMPER. HE TEMPORARILY SECURED THE TIRE CASING. THE FOLLOWING MONDAY, I CALLED FORD CUSTOMER NO-SERVICE. THEY SAID THAT A LOCAL DEALERSHIP WOULD NEED TO CORROBORATE MY STORY BEFORE THEY COULD DETERMINE WHETHER FORD WAS LIABLE TO REPLACE THE SHREDDED TIRE (AND POSSIBLY REPLACE ALL OF THE OTHERS, AS WELL), AND TO PAY FOR THE REPAIRS NEEDED ON THE FRONT BUMPER AND CASING. THE TALLAHASSEE FORD DEALERSHIP HAS A POOR REPUTATION, SO I WAS PERMITTED TO TAKE MY EXPEDITION TO THE LINCOLN-MERCURY DEALERSHIP. AFTER HEARING MY STORY AND EXAMINING MY VEHICLE, THE SERVICE MANAGER SAID THAT FORD OFFERED NO WARRANTY ON THE REPLACEMENT TIRES. SINCE PURCHASE I HAVE TRAVELED 80000 MILES AND HAVE REPLACED THE ROTORS 3 TIMES AND THE PADS 4 TIMES ON THE FRONT. WE WOULD HAVE TO RE-LATCH IT WHILE DRIVING, NOT KNOWING WHEN IT WOULD RELEASE AGAIN. OBVIOUSLY A DANGEROUS SITUATION. ON 3 OCCASIONS THIS YEAR,2005 ( JULY, NOVEMBER AND DECEMBER) WHEN HUMIDITY IS REALLY HIGH, AND/OR SNOW WOULD COVER MY 2001 FORD EXPEDITION, I WOULD HAVE UNEXPLAINABLE ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS. EITHER MY HEADLIGHT WON'T SHUT OFF, THE BLOWER WOULD NOT SHUT WHEN TURNING ENGINE OFF, POWER WINDOWS WONT WORK, SEATED HEAT WON'T WORK, ABS LIGHT WOULD TURN ON. THIS THEN MAKES IT DIFFICULT BECAUSE THE FORD DEALERS AREN'T ABLE TO HELP ME IF THE PROBLEM WAS RESOLVED. THE MOST RECENT INCIDENT IN DECEMBER WAS THE MOST FRUSTRATING. I CONSULTED 3 FORD DEALERS AND NON OF THEM WOULD FIX IT FOR ME. I HAVE 78,000 MILES ON MY TRUCK AND I DID BUY THE PREMIUM EXTENDED WARRANTY UP TO 100,000. THE DEALER SAID, WE WON'T FIX YOUR PROBLEM BECAUSE LEAKS IS NOT COVERED IN YOUR WARRANTY AND THAT IS THE CAUSE OF YOUR PROBLEM. I EVEN POINTED OUT TO THE DEALERS THAT I READ ON NHTSA WEB SITE THAT THIS WAS NOT AS UNCOMMON AS WHAT I THOUGHT IT WAS ( REFERRING TO NVS-212CAG EA05-015).
