DT: THE CONTACT COMPLAINED ABOUT SEVERAL PROBLEMS WITH VEHICLE. FIRST, THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL STUCK. THE DEALER CLEANED THE THROTTLE BODY WHICH SEEMED TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM. THE VEHICLE WOULD SOMETIMES SURGE FORWARD. SHE THOUGHT THE SURGING WAS RELATED TO APPARENT TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS. SHE FINALLY HAD THE TRANSMISSION REBUILT. PART OF THE COST WAS COVERED UNDER THE EXTENDED WARRANTY. SECONDLY, THE SEAT BELT IN THE MIDDLE ROW DID NOT RETRACT CORRECTLY. THE DEALER COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. THEREFORE, NO REPAIRS WERE MADE TO THE SEAT BELT. THIRDLY, THE LEFT REAR DOOR ACTUATOR HAD TO BE REPLACED BECAUSE THE POWER LOCKS WERE NOT WORKING. FOURTHLY, THE REAR PASSENGER CHILD SAFETY LOCK DID NOT WORK PROPERLY. ONCE THE CHILD SAFETY LOCK WAS DEACTIVATED, AND THE DOOR HANDLE WAS RAISED FROM THE INSIDE, THE CHILD SAFETY LOCK ACTIVATED. THE CONTACT'S HUSBAND CORRECTED THIS PROBLEM BY TAKING APART THE LOCK AND CLEANING IT. SHE HAD TO PUSH VERY HARD ON THE EXTERIOR KEY PAD TO GET IT TO WORK. THE DEALER DID NOT THINK THIS WAS A PROBLEM SINCE SHE WAS ABLE TO GET IT TO WORK EVENTUALLY. LASTLY, THE RIGHT FRONT POWER WINDOW WORKED INTERMITTENTLY. THE DEALER COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM, AND NO REPAIR WAS MADE.*AK
2001 FORD EXPEDITION EDDIE BAUER WITH A 5.4 V8. SITTING AT A STOP SIGN, AS SOON AS I PRESSED ON THE ACCELERATOR TO PROCEED THE ENGINE BLEW THE 3RD SPARK PLUG ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. TOWED TO FORD DEALER ESTIMATES TO FIX ARE 800 FOR HELI COIL, 3500 FOR HEAD REPLACEMENT. *JB
THE CHILD SAFE LOCKS ON THE REAR DOORS OF MY 2ND FORD EXPEDITION ACTIVATE THROUGH NORMAL DOOR OPERATION. THEY ARE ACTIVATED BY USING THE AUTOMATIC DOOR LOCKS AS WELL AS NORMAL INTERIOR DOOR HANDLE USE. I HAVE OWNED TWO EXPEDITION AND THIS HAS OCCURRED ON EACH VEHICLE ( A 1997 XLY EXPEDITION AS WELL AS A 2001 EDDIE BAUER EDITION). I AM AWARE OF THE SAME OCCURRENCE ON MY BROTHERS FORD EXCURSION SO THIS OBVIOUSLY IS NOT A SINGLE ISSUE BUT A ENGINEERING FAILURE. THIS ACTION LOCKS PEOPLE UNINTENTIONALLY IN THE BACK SEATS OF THE VEHICLE WITHOUT NOTICE OR EASY CORRECTION SINCE YOU CAN'T REACH THE EXTERIOR HANDLE FROM INSIDE THE VEHICLE DUE TO LIMITED WINDOW OPENING HEIGHT. IN THE CASE OF AN ACCIDENT A PERSON WOULD BE LIKELY BE LOCKED IN UNABLE TO ESCAPE THE VEHICLE. OTHER OCCUPANTS WOULD LIKELY NOT BE AWARE OF THE SITUATION AND THUS POSSIBLY FIND NECESSARY ACTION UNNECESSARY. A ACCIDENT WAITING TO HAPPEN . *JB

DT: THE CONTACT STATES THERE IS NHTSA RECALL CAMPAIGN 05V388000 CONCERNING THE VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL DEACTIVATION SWITCH. THE PARTS NEEDED TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE ARE NOT AVAILABLE AT THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP. HE SPOKE TO THE MANUFACTURER, WHO CONFIRMED THE PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE. *AK
I OWN A 2001 FORD EXPEDITION WHICH HAS HAD FAILURE OF ONE OF THE REAR SEAT BELTS. WHEN YOU ATTEMPT TO LOCK THE SEAT BELT INTO THE BUCKLE IT DOES NOT LOCK. I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO A FORD DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THE PROBLEM COULD BE FIXED IF I WAS TO PAY OUT OF MY POCKET THE EXPENSES BECAUSE MY WARRANTY WAS EXPIRED. I DO NOT FEEL I SHOULD HAVE TO PAY ANY OUT OF POCKET EXPENSES TO COVER THE REPAIR OF MY SEAT BELT. I HAVE TWO CHILDREN AND IT IS THE LAW TO HAVE THEM SECURED IN MY VEHICLE. *JB
DT: THE CONSUMER OWNS A 2001 FORD EXPEDITION. THE CONSUMER'S WIFE WAS DRIVING AND THE SPARK PLUG BLEW OUT. THE CONSUMER TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID THAT IT WAS A MANUFACTURING DEFECT AND THAT THE PROBLEM WAS NOT THE SPARK PLUG, BUT THE #3 CYLINDER HEAD. THE CONSUMER COULD NOT AFFORD TO HAVE THIS PROBLEM FIXED. THERE WAS NO WARNING. THE CONSUMER CALLED FORD AND THEY SAID THAT THE CONSUMER WAS RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY REPAIRS. THE CONSUMER ONLY HAD VEHICLE FOR TEN MONTHS AND SEARCHED THE WEBSITE AND FOUND THAT THIS WAS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THIS PARTICULAR ENGINE. THERE WAS NO ACCIDENT. *AK (12/01/05) THE SPARK PLUG VIOLENTLY EJECTED CAUSING A LOUD NOISE WHICH STARTLED THE DRIVER, ALMOST CAUSING HIM TO LOSE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. *SC
DT: THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 FORD EXPEDITION. ON FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 30, 2005, THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING HOME FROM WORK, WENT HOME, PICKED UP HIS FAMILY AND STARTED DRIVING AGAIN. WHILE IN MOTION THE CONTACT BEGAN SMELLING AND ELECTRICAL BURN. THE CONTACT HAD RECEIVED A RECALL ABOUT THE SPEED SENSOR CONTROL AND CALLED THE DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO DISCONNECTED THE SPEED CONTROL SENSOR. THE CONTACT COMPLAINED THAT THE DEALERSHIP ONLY CHECKED THE SPEED CONTROL SENSOR AND DID NOT DO ANYTHING TO THE REST OF THE WIRING. THERE WAS NO ELECTRICAL CONTINUITY TEST. *SC
DT: CONTACT STATES THE CAR TAKES A LONG TIME TO START, IT'S LIKE THE BATTERY IS DEAD. WHEN VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED THE CONTACT WAS TOLD THAT THE BATTERY WAS GOOD. WHEN HITTING THE ALARM THE HORN WILL SOUND VERY LOW, SOMETIMES IT WILL NOT MAKE A SOUND AT ALL. THE AUTOMATIC LOCKS WILL NOT ENGAGE UNTIL THE VEHICLE IS ALREADY DOWN THE ROAD. THEY SUPPOSE TO ENGAGE WHEN TAKING FOOT OFF THE BRAKES. WHEN STARTING THE CAR THE GAUGES WILL FLASH ON/OFF, AND THEN GO BACK TO NORMAL. ALSO, WHEN STARTING THE VEHICLE THE HEADLIGHTS WILL FLASH ON AS IF THE ALARM HAS SOUNDED, THEN , THEY WILL GO OFF. THE LIGHT THAT INDICATES IF THE CAR IS IN OVERDRIVE OR REGULAR DRIVE NO LONGER WORKS. THE CONTACT RECEIVED A RECALL LETTER LAST MONTH REGARDING THE SCDS. HE REPORTS HAVING NO PROBLEMS WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL. HE BELIEVES THE AFOREMENTIONED PROBLEMS ARE RELATED TO THE DEFECTIVE SCDS. HE HAS NOT TAKEN THE CAR TO DEALER TO HAVE THE SCDS DISCONNECTED AS STATED IN THE RECALL. HE PLANS TO DO SO AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. *AK
THE SPARK PLUG BLEW OUT OF MY 2001 FORD EXPEDITION. I WAS CRANKING THE VEHICLE AND HEARD A LOUD POP AND THEN THE MOTOR STARTED POPPING AND SHAKING. I HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED TO THE FORD DEALER THAT HAS HANDLED ALL MY REPAIRS. THEY CLAIM THE ALUMINUM IN THE HEAD IS FAULTY AND THERE ARE NO THREADS ON THE HEAD BUT THE HEADS ON THE SPARK PLUG ARE FINE. THE WARRANTY COMPANY CLAIMS THAT THEY DO NOT COVER THE THREADS ON THE HEAD; JUST THE HEAD ITSELF. WELL DUH IS THAT NOT PART OF THE HEAD. I AM STILL FIGHTING WITH BOTH THE DEALER AND THE EXTENDED WARRANTY COMPANY. I HAVE PAID THE EXTRA COST FOR THE MAINTENANCE AND REPAIRS ON MY VEHICLE OVER THE YEARS BECAUSE I WANTED THE DEALER TO HANDLE EVERYTHING JUST IN CASE SOMETHING LIKE THIS DID HAPPEN AND THE WARRANTY COMPANY COULD NOT GET OUT OF PAYING BECAUSE I DIDN'T HAVE THE DEALER DO THE REPAIRS. I EXPECTED BETTER THAN THIS FROM FORD. I HAD EVERY PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE PERFORMED ON THIS VEHICLE THAT FORD MOTOR COMPANY RECOMMENDS AND IT WAS DONE BY A FORD DEALER; PLUS I HAVE THE EXTENDED WARRANTY. EITHER FORD, THE DEALER OR THE WARRANTY COMPANY SHOULD PAY FOR THIS; BECAUSE JUDGING FROM THE OTHER COMPLAINTS THAT I HAVE SEEN; THEY ARE ALL AWARE OF THE PROBLEM!!!!!!! *JB
ON 09-15-2005 AT 12:10 AM I DISCOVERED A LARGE FIRE IN MY GARAGE. MY FAMILY AND I ESCAPED WITHOUT HARM. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT RESPONDED QUICKLY AND EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE. ALL CONTENTS OF THE GARAGE WERE DESTROYED. SOME DAMAGE OCCURRED TO THE HOME. ACCORDING TO THE FIRE INVESTIGATOR (CAL STATE LIC NO. PI-75781), THE EXPEDITION IN THE GARAGE WAS PROBABLY THE CAUSE OF THE FIRE. *JB
MY WINDSHIELD ON MY 2001 EXPEDITION IS LEAKING WATER IN THE DRIVER SIDE LOWER CORNER. IT'S SEEPING INTO THE FLOOR BOARDS AND INTO THE ENGINE ELECTRICAL COMPARTMENT UNDER THE HOOD. *JB
2001 FORD EXPEDITION 5.4L FOR ABOUT 2 WEEKS IT SOUNDED LIKE THERE WAS AN EXHAUST LEAK. HAD AN APPOINTMENT TO HAVE EXHAUST LOOKED AT ON 9/6/05. COMING HOME FROM WORK ON 9/2/05, WAS STUCK IN SLOW TRAFFIC. WHEN TRAFFIC BROKE UP, I STARTED TO ACCELERATE AND HEARD A POP AND LOST POWER. I HAD TO GET OVER 3 LANES OF TRAFFIC TO PULL OVER. THE TRUCK WAS MAKING A LOUD NOISE AND SMELLED GAS. HAD TO CALL A TOW TRUCK TO PICK IT UP. IT COST ME $200 TO HAVE IT TOWED HOME. ON 9/6 I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP THAT HAD WORKED ON IT LAST AND THEY PRETTY MUCH TOLD ME THAT DID NOT WANT TO LOOK AT IT. SO I CALLED THE LOCAL FORD DEALER AND THEY TOLD ME THE SAME THING. SO I HAD IT TOWED TO A LOCAL ENGINE SHOP FOR REPAIRS. THEY ARE PULLING BOTH HEADS AND INSTALLING 8 NEW HEAD CERTS, WHICH COST ME $2000.
I WAS DROPPING MY GRANDMOTHER OFF AT CHURCH. I PULLED INTO A PARKING SPACE. WHEN I WENT TO START THE TRUCK, THE ENGINE STARTED MAKING NOISES AND I SAW AND SMELLED SMOKE. I OPENED THE HOOD AND I SAW THE ENGINE SHAKING WENT THE TRUCK WAS ON. TODAY, FORD IS RECALLING 2000 EXPEDITIONS ALONG WITH OTHER MODELS DUE TO CRUISE CONTROL PROBLEMS CAUSING FIRES UNDER THE HOOD. THE TRUCK IS A 2001 EXPEDITION WHICH HAS 75,000 MILES ON IT. FORD IS SAYING IT IS NOT THEIR PROBLEM AND THEY ARE NOT TAKING RESPONSIBILITY FOR THIS ISSUE. *JB
I AM THE OWNER OF A 2001 FORD EXPEDITON, RECENTLY (AUGUST 22,2005) I EXPERIENCED A SPARK PLUG BLOW-OUT IN THIS VEHICLE.I WAS CONCERNED ABOUT THE COST OF REPAIR FOR THIS TYPE OF PROBLEM, AND THE DANGER ASSOCIATED WITH THIS PROBLEM. IN A RECENT ARTICLE IT WAS STATED THAT IF THIS PLUG WERE TO POP OUT IT COULD IN FACT PUNCTURE A NEARBY FUEL LINE AND IGNITE IN FIRE OR CAUSE AN EXPLOSION SO I SEARCHED THE INTERNET(WWW.FORDDEFECTS.COM) FOR SOME ANSWERS. THERE, I FOUND OUT THAT THIS HAS BEEN AN ONGOING PROBLEM WITH FORD THAT THEY HAVE NEGLECTED TO ACKNOWLEDGE. SINCE I GOT THE TRUCK THE ELECTRIC SYSTEM HAS BEEN FAILING, ALSO THE BRAKES FAILED TO OPERATE WHILE ON THE FREEWAY AND ALMOST HAD US KILLED. THE BACK DOOR LOCKS BY ITSELF AND CAN'T BE OPENED. AIR COMES IN FROM THE FRONT WINDSHIELD AND IT ALSO LEAKS WHEN IT RAINS. ALL FOUR TIRES WERE VERY WASTED, ALSO I WAS LIED ABOUT THE INTEREST RATE. I WAS TOLD THAT MY INTEREST WOULD BE 6.78% AND IN THE CONTRACT IT APPEARS AS 12.15%.*JB
TRUCK WAS JUST SITTING THERE WHEN IT CAUGHT ON FIRE
VEHICLE WAS LEFT OUTSIDE DURING SEVERAL RAINY DAYS. UPON STARTING VEHICLE, WIPERS, FANS WOULD NOT WORK. RADIO WOULD NOT OPERATE. WHEN VEHICLE WAS LEFT IN AUXILIARY POSITION, THE VEHICLE WOULD START ITSELF WITHOUT TURNING THE KEY. IF THE CAR WAS LEFT RUNNING AND IN PARK, THE VEHICLE WOULD TRY TO START WHILE RUNNING. THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES, DURING WET RAINY WEATHER. THE VEHICLE, A 2001 FORD EXPEDITION WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP AND PROBLEM EXPLAINED. BY THIS TIME THE AREA AFFECTED HAD DRIED OUT AND VEHICLE RETURNED TO NORMAL OPERATING SYSTEMS. THE DEALER SAID IT COULD NOT BE DIAGNOSED UNTIL IT OCCURRED AGAIN. *NM
DT: THE CRUISE CONTROL WENT OUT, THE MEMBRANE BROKE. THE BRAKE FLUID FILLED THE SERVO OF THE CRUISE CONTROL. IT WAS FROM THE BROKEN MEMBRANE ON THE CRUISE CONTROL SWITCH. DEACTIVATION SWITCH WAS LEAKING, CRUISE CONTROL SERVO WAS FULL OF FLUID. THAT WAS THE STATEMENT FROM THE INVOICE. THE CONSUMER NOTICED THE CRUISE CONTROL STOPPED WORKING, LAST WEEK. THE FORD WAS CALLED, AND THEY TOLD CONSUMER TO CHECK THE DEACTIVATION SWITCH. AT THAT POINT, THE CONSUMER NOTICED THE DEACTIVATION SWITCH WAS FULL OF FLUID. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP, AND THE PART WAS ON BACK ORDER. THE DEACTIVATION SWITCH WAS CHANGED, AND THE CRUISE CONTROL WILL NOT WORK UNTIL THE SERVO WAS INSTALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS 2001 FORD EXPEDITION. IT WAS COSTING THE CONSUMER $516 TO FIX THIS $21 PART.*AK
DT: THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 FORD EXPEDITION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE HAD A TREAD SEPARATION ON A TIRE. THE TIRE WAS LOCATED ON THE PASSENGER REAR SIDE. THIS OCCURRED WHILE DRIVING AT ABOUT 65-70 MPH. THE DEALERSHIP STATED TO SUBMIT THE TIRES TO CONTINENTAL TIRE FOR EVALUATION OF THE TIRES. THE MANUFACTURE IS CONTINENTAL. THE MODEL NAME IS GRABBER AW. THE TIRE LINE IS 27560R17. THE DOT NUMBER IS 27560R17. HE THINKS THAT THE TIRE MANUFACTURE RECOMMENDS THAT THE TIRE PRESSURE BE 33PSI. THE CONTACT DOES NOT THAT THE PSI ON HIS TIRES IS WHAT EVER THE MANUFACTURE RECOMMENDS. THE TIRES ARE REGULARLY SERVICED SUCH AS TIRE PRESSURE CHECKS AND TIRE ROTATION. THERE WHERE SOME VIBRATION WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE. HE DID NOT NOTICE ANY ABNORMAL BULGING IN THE TIRE BEFORE THIS HAPPENED. THIS OCCURRED ON JULY 10, 2005. THE CONTACT DOES NOT CURRENTLY HAVE THE TIRE BECAUSE HE SUBMITTED IT TO CONTINENTAL FOR EVALUATION. *AK UPDATED 11/16/2005 - *NM
DT: 2001 FORD EXPEDITION. THE BACK DOOR HAS TWO HYDRAULIC LIFTS TO HOLD THE DOOR OPEN. ONE ON DRIVER'S SIDE BROKE LOOSE FROM THE VEHICLE. AFTER INSPECTION THEY FOUND THE OTHER LIFT WAS WELDED IN SIX PLACES, AND THIS ONE WAS ONLY WELDED IN ONE PLACE. CONSUMER TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY STATED IT IS NOT UNDER WARRANTY. THE MANUFACTURER ALSO STATES THIS IS NOT UNDER WARRANTY, AND IT WILL COST $435 TO FIX. THE DOOR COULD NO LONGER BE USED, IT WILL NOT STAY OPEN. *AK
MY 2001 FORD EXPEDITION'S (65300 MILES) CABLE WHICH MOUNTS THE SPARE TIRE UNDER THE VEHICLE HAS FRAYED AND THE TIRE HAS FALLEN OFF. I CALLED MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP, WHICH JUST WORKED ON THE CAR, AND THEY SAID, "YA, WE'VE SEEN THAT HAPPEN A FEW TIMES... THE CABLE RUSTS OUT, AND THE TIRE FALLS OFF." I HAVE NEVER BOTTOMED OUT THE CAR, WE HAVE BEEN THE SOLE OWNERS, AND IT WAS JUST IN TO FORD FOR REPAIRS, AND A "SAFETY INSPECTION" SO IT MUST HAVE HAPPENED RECENTLY. I HAVE NO IDEA WHEN OR WHERE THIS COULD HAVE HAPPENED. I MUST HAVE BEEN DRIVING, BECAUSE OTHERWISE I WOULD HAVE BACKED OVER IT, HAD I BEEN PARKED. I MAY HAVE BEEN GOING 65 MPH DOWN THE HIGHWAY WITH MY THREE CHILDREN IN THE CAR! AND GOD HELP ANYONE BEHIND ME! THIS SEEMS TO ME TO BE AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS DEFECT, I CAN ONLY HOPE MY CAR WAS NOT THE CAUSE OF AN ACCIDENT TO ANOTHER. NOW I AM FORCED TO ENDURE YET ANOTHER COSTLY REPAIR TO A CAR, WHICH FOR ITS LIMITED 65,000 MILES HAS ALREADY HAD ITS SHARE. TWO MONTHS AGO I WAS TOLD THAT I WAS LUCKY THAT I BROUGHT IT IN FOR REPAIRS TO AN ENGINE PROBLEM, BECAUSE ITS BALL JOINTS WERE SO BAD THAT THE FRONT WHEELS WERE GOING TO FALL OFF! THIS IS NOT THE KIND OF THING THAT A MOTHER, WHO USES THIS VEHICLE TO TRANSPORT HER THREE SMALL CHILDREN AROUND IN, WANTS TO HEAR! AND NOW, THE SPARE TIRE HAS FALLEN OFF! IT WILL REQUIRE THE REPLACEMENT OF THE MOUNTING MECHANISM, AS WELL AS THE TIRE AND WHEEL, ASSUREABLY, NOT TO BE CHEAP! THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME AND CONSIDERATION. RESPECTFULLY, KIM WYMAN
I WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER WHEN THE CHECK ENG LIGHT STARTED RAPIDLY FLASHING. ,PULLED OVER OPENED THE HOOD AND BURST INTO FLAMES , NOW I AM OUT THE DOWN PAYMENT AND THE REMAINING AMOUNT THAT THE INS DID NOT PAY . I AM NOT ABLE TO PURCHASE ANOTHER VEHICLE PUTTING ME INTO A BIND. *NM

THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT-BELT BUCKLE BECOMES UNLATCHED ON AN INTERMITTANT BASIS. BELT BUCKLE WILL INSERT AND SNAP MOST OF HTE TIME, BUT THERE HAVE BEEN SEVERAL INSTANCES WHEN THE BUCKLE SNAPPED AS IF IT WAS LATCHED, BUT COME UNLATCHED WHEN A FORCE WAS APPLIED TO THE BUCKLE (AS WHEN LEANING FORWARD).
DT: CONTACT STATES THE WINDSHIELD IS LEAKING, CAUSING THE COMPUTER IN THE FUSE PANEL TO SHORT OUT. THE STEREO, WINDSHIELD WIPERS, AND THE AIR CONDITIONER COME ON WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS NOT IN USE. WINDSHIELD WAS REPLACED. WARRANTY EXPIRED , AND ELECTRONIC PANEL HAD NOT BEEN REPLACED. FORD MANUFACTURER HAS BEEN CONTACTED.*AK

ON MAY 18 2005 MY 2001 FORD EXPEDITION VIN #[XXX] STOPPED WORKING WHILE AT A LOCAL WALMART STORE I HAD TO CALL ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE TO TOW MY VEHICLE TO MY HOME BEING THAT IT WAS ABOUT 11 PM AND NO SHOPS WERE OPEN I HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO MY ADDRESS AND PARKED IN THE DRIVEWAY. THE NEXT EVENING WHILE PARKED IN THE DRIVEWAY UNDRIVEN OR STARTED FOR 24 HOURS A NEIGHBOR RAN INTO MY HOME TO GET MYSELF AND MY CHILDREN OUT OF OUR HOME. SCREAMING THAT OUR TRUCK WAS ON FIRE IN THE DRIVEWAY PARKED DIRECTLY IN FRONT OF THE GARAGE. AFTER PULLING MY FAMILY OUT WE THEN CALLED 911. WHERE THE LOCAL FIRE DEPT WAS SENT OUT TO OUR HOME TO PUT OUT THE FIRE. THE FIRE MARSHALL AT THAT TIME TOLD US WHERE THE HOT POINT WAS AND THAT WE SHOULD CONTACT FORD. I CONTACTED FORD IMMEDIATELY THAT MORNING AND THEY DENIED ANY PART OF A RECALL FOR THAT OR MY OTHER 98 FORD EXPEDITION. WE THEN CONTACTED SHERRY PULLEN AT NHTSA TO TRY TO GET ASST. IN THIS MATTER WE ALSO HAD OUR 98 FORD EXPEDITION TOWED TO THE LOCAL FORD DEALER AFTER THIS IN FEAR OF THIS HAPPENING AGAIN. AND THEY REPLACED THE SWITCH AT NO CHARGE TO US AND SAID THERE WAS A RECALL SENT TO THEM BY FORD. I FAXED THE WORK ORDER AND ALL INFO TO SHERRY PULLEN. AND WEEKS LATER SAW ON THE NEWS THAT FORD DID EXPAND THERE RECALL TO INCLUDE BOTH OF MY VEHICLES. DT*: THE CONTACT STATED AFTER DRIVING 55 MPH ON NORMAL ROAD CONDITIONS, A MISSING CAP WAS NOTICED IN THE RIGHT FRONT WHEEL. THE PLASTIC PRONGS FRACTURED, AND REMAINED ATTACHED TO THE BRACKETS. THE CONTACT PURCHASED A NEW CAP AT THE DEALERSHIP. THE SAME INCIDENT RECURRED AFTER A YEAR ON THE REAR DRIVER SIDE WHEEL. THE CONTACT PURCHASED ANOTHER CAP FROM THE DEALERSHIP. AFTER AN INSPECTION OF THE OTHER CAPS, CRACKS WERE NOTICED IN EVERY CAP'S PRONGS THOUGH THE CONTACT APPLIED GLUE TO PREVENT THE CAPS FROM DETACHING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED, WHO ASKED FOR THE CAPS INVOICES, WHICH THE CONTACT DID NOT KEEP. THE MANUFACTURER PROMISED A RETURN CALL, WHICH NEVER OCCURRED.
THE VEHICLE COMPLETELY BURNED DUE TO A FIRE THAT ORIGINATED FROM THE FUSE OF THE MASTER CRUISE CONTROL MODULATOR AREA OF MASTER BRAKE CYLINDER. *JB THIS MAKE/MODEL IS UNDER INVESTIGATION BY CPSC FOR A MNUFACTIRER DEFECT OF THE CRUISE CONTROL SYSTEM. *SC *JB
THIS IS THE SECOND SPARK PLUG IN LESS THAN 4 MONTHS THAT HAS BLOWN OUT OF THE CYLINDER HEAD OUT OF OUR 2001FORD EXPEDITION. PLEASE INVESTIGATE THIS PROBLEM AS IT IS OCCURRING TO MANY PEOPLE. DRIVING ABOUT 40 MILES PER HOUR IN MY 2001 FORD EXPEDITION W/ TRITON V8 5.4L WHEN I HEARD A LOUD POP. VEHICLE WAS VERY LOUD AFTERWARDS BUT STILL DRIVEABLE. PURCHASED A 2001 FORD EXPEDITION FROM MAROONE FORD IN MARGATE ON 11/05/2004. THE TIRES THAT CAME WITH THIS VEHICLE WERE THE CONTITRAC AW ID # 02T012000. ON 04/02/05 WHILE TRAVELING ON I-95 AT THE SPEED OF 55 MPH MY LEFT REAR TIRE BLEW OUT. I WAS ABLE TO GET THE TRUCK UNDER CONTROL WITHOUT HITTING ANY OTHER CARS AND I WAS NOT INJURED. I HAD THAT TIRED REPLACED THE SAME DAY AND THOUGHT IT MUST HAVE BEEN SOMETHING ON I-95 THAT CAUSED THE TIRE TO BLOW OUT. ON 05/21/05 WHILE TRAVELING EAST ON COMMERCIAL BLVD IN FORT LAUDERDALE FLORIDA AT A SPEAD OF 30 MHP THE RIGHT REAR TIRE BLEW OUT, I DROVE THE TRUCK INTO TIRE KINGDOM AND HAD THAT TIRE REPLACED AS WELL. THIS MORNING WHILE PARKING AT WORK I NOTICED THREAD SEPARATION LUMPS HAD DEVELOPED ON THE TWO REMAINING TIRES, AT THIS POINT I REALIZED SOMETHING HAD TO BE WRONG WITH THE TIRES, AND THROUGH THE INTERNET I FOUND OUT THERE WAS A RECALL ON THESE TIRES. I CONTATED THE DEALERSHIP WHO SOLD ME THE TRUCK INMEDIATELY AND WAS TOLD THEY COULD NOT DO ANYTHING TO CORRECT THE PROBLEMP BECAUSE TO THEIR KNOWLEDGE THERE IS NO RECALL IN EFFECT FOR THESE TIRES AND THAT THE MANUFACTURER WOULD HAVE TO BE THE ONE TO REPLACE THEM, BUT THAT IF I COULD NOT WAIT TO THEN TAKE THE TRUCK TO THE NEAREST TIRE KINGDOM TO HAVE THE TIRES REPLACED AND THAT THEY WOULD PRO RATE THE COST OF THE TIRES. I HAD BOTH TIRES REPLACED THIS AFTERNOON, AGAIN AT MY OWN EXPENSE. IN THE PAST TWO MONTHS I HAVE REPLACED ALL FOUR TIRES ON THIS VEHICLE, AND THE DEALERSHIP HAS NOT BEEN OF ANY ASSITANCE, THEY SOLD ME A TIRE WARRANTY PRODUCT THAT DOES NOT COVER THESE TYPE OF INCIDENTS,THE PRODUCT WAS MISREPRESENTED TO ME AND I INTEND TO FILE A SEPARATE COMPLAINT WITH THE FLA INSURANCE COMMISSIONERS OFFICE REGARDING THAT MATTER. DIAGNOSED AS WINDSHIELD SEALANT FAILURE BETWEEN THE HAND AND THE GLASS OVER APPROXIMATELY 75% OF THE SEALANT BAND AREA. SOLUTION: REMOVE GLASS, STRIP ALL SEALANTS, PRIME BODY, PRIME GLASS, REPLACE GLASS (BROKEN DURING REMOVAL). *JB

2001 FORD EXPEDITION IGNITION COILS CONTINUE TO SHORT OUT WHEN WET AND ALWAYS AFTER A RAIN - WATER SEEPS INTO THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT AND INEVITABLY THAT AN IGNITION COIL WILL BEGIN TO SHORT OUT / BEGIN MISSING AND LOSE POWER WHILE DRIVING. BECAUSE THIS ALWAYS SEEMS TO HAPPEN DURING INCLEMENT WEATHER THE DANGER FACTOR IS HEIGHTENED. I HAVE SPOKEN TO OTHER 2001 EXPEDITION OWNERS AND THEY ALL HAVE EXPERIENCED THE EXACT SAME DANGEROUS AND EXPENSIVE PROBLEM. ANOTHER ISSUE OF CONSUMER CONCERN IS THAT FORD MOTOR CO. I PERSONALLY HAVE HAD THE COILS GO OUT ON ME WHILE DRIVING IN DANGEROUS WEATHER AND HAVE NOW HAD FIVE(5) IGNITION COILS GO OUT ON ME AT THIS TIME. SIDE TIRE APRROX 6-8 INCHES LONG & 3/4 WIDTH OF THE TIRE WITH TREAD SEPARATION. THESE WERE THE ORIGINAL GRABBERS (ON MY 2001 EXPEDITION) LOT 1377, WHICH WAS NOT PART OF THE RECALL SEVERAL YRS AGO. TIRE DEALER SAID OTHER REAR TIRE WAS ALSO SHOWING SIGNS OF TREAD SEPARATION AS WELL. TIRE HAD 49,000 MILES ON THEM WITH PLENTY OF TREAD. *AK
