WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEED THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL STUCK, CAUSING A VEHICLE ROLL OVER WHEN T CONSUMER DEPRESSED THE BRAKES. CONSUMER/PASSENGER SUSTAINED INJURIES. VEHICLE WAS TOTALED. DEALERSHIP WAS NOTIFIED, BUT DID NOT RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. THE CAUSE WAS NOT DETERMINED.*AK
I OWN A 2001 FORD EXPEDITION, I WAS PARKED IN FRONT OF MY PARENTS HOME FOR APPROX. 2 1/2 HOURS, WHEN MY FIANCE WALKED OUTSIDE AN SAW THAT MY CAR WAS ON FIRE. THE FIRE STARTED ON THE DRIVER SIDE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. I HAVE REPORTED THE INCIDENT TO MY INSURANCE CARRIER. BUT I HEARD OF THE RECALLS THAT HAVE BEEN REPORTED ON THE FORD SUV'S. THE ENGINE WAS COMPLETELY DESTROYED. I FEEL THIS IS RELATED TO THE CRUISE CONTROL UNIT, AFTER EXAMINATION AFTER THE FIRE WAS EXTINGUISHED. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT REPORTED TO THE SCENE, AND REPORT WAS FILED. *JB
MY WIFE WAS DRIVING OUR 2001 EXPEDITION HOME FROM WORK WHICH IS ABOUT 35 MILES AWAY WHEN THE #2 SPARK PLUG "BLEW" OUT OF THE CYLINDER HEAD OF THE ENGINE CAUSING IT TO MISFIRE BADLY. SHE HAD TO PULL OFF THE SIDE OF THE ROAD IN SOMEONES YARD. LUCKILY THE PERSON THERE LET HER USE A PHONE TO CALL ME. I CALLED INTO WORK, WENT AND PICKED HER UP AND WE WENT TO THE NEAREST FORD DEALERSHIP IN SPRINGFIELD, TN. WE HAD TO SUV TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP, THEY INSPECTED IT AND FOUND THE SPARK PLUG HAD "BLOWN" OUT OF THE CYLINDER HEAD. FORD WOULD NOT COVER ANY PART OF THE COST BECAUSE MY VEHICLE HAD 49K MILES ON IT AND I HAD CHANGED THE SPARK PLUGS ABOUT 15K MILES AGO BECAUSE THE #1 CYLINDER FACTORY SPARK PLUG "FOWLED UP". ANYWAY IT COST ME FIVE DAYS WITHOUT A VEHICLE AND $2953 TO REPLACE THE HEAD. I AM AN ENGINEER AND FEEL THAT THIS IS A DESIGN ISSUE WITH THE VEHICLE. THERE HAVE BEEN TO MANY OTHER CASES JUST LIKE MINE FOR IT TO BE AN "ISOLATED" INCIDENT. THIS MAY SEEM LIKE JUST A PROPERTY DAMAGE ISSUE BUT IF STRANDED IN THE MIDDLE OF NOWHERE OR EVEN ON A BUSY STREET OR INTERSTATE IT HAS THE POTENTIAL TO BE LIFE THREATING. THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME. I HAVE OWNED THIS VEHICLE FOR ONLY 3 MONTHS AND BOUGHT IT FROM A DEALER WITH LOW MILES. TWICE NOW IN THAT THREE MONTHS I HAVE BEEN COMPLETLY STOPPED WITH FOOT ON BRAKE AND THE VEHICLE LURCHED FORWARD AS IF IT HAD BEEN HIT FROM BEHIND. TODAY IN HEAVY FREEWAY TRAFFIC IT DID THE SAME. ALMOST HITTING THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME. I HAVE CALLED FORD AND TALKED TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAY THEY HAVE NEVER HEARD OF THIS. I JUST HAD IT IN AND IT PASSED WITH FLYING COLORS. I DID COUNT 19 COMPLAINTS ON YOUR SITE WITH THE SAME ISSUE. DOES SOMEONE HAVE TO DIE FIRST?*AK
THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED INSIDE OF THE GARAGE WITHOUT WARNING THE VEHICLE CAUGHT FIRE. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS CALLED OUT TO EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE. TWO PEOPLE SUSTAINED INJURIES AND WENT TO THE EMERGENCY ROOM ON ITS OWN. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED AND TOTALED OUT BY THE INSURANCE COMPANY. PLEASE PROVIDE ADDITIONAL INFORMATION.
ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS FAIL WHEN THE CAR IS PUT IN DRIVE, INCLUDING RADIO, REAR WIPER, FOG LAMPS, COMPASS, OUTSIDE TEMPERATURE, POWER WINDOWS, AND DASH WARNING LIGHTS. DEALER REPORTS WINDSHIELD LEAKING, CAUSING COMPONENT FAILURES AND REPAIRS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. *NM
MY FORD EXPEDITION WAS REAR ENDED BY A LARGE GARBAGE TRUCK. MY AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY AT THAT HIT. MY TRUCK WENT INTO A SPIN AND HIT ANOTHER VEHICLE WITH THE FRONT AND DRIVER SIDE AND AGAIN THE AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY. I SUSTAINED BROKEN RIBS, BLACK EYE, BRUISED JAW, AND BRUISED TAILBONE. WHY DIDN'T MY AIRBAG GO OFF TO ALLEVIATE THE INJURIES TO ME? *NM

FORD DEALER AND FORD "CUSTOMER ASSISTANCE" 800-392-FORD REFUSED TO REPAIR PROBLEM OF WATER IN DRIVER COMPARTMENT FUSE BOX CAUSED BY LEAKING ORIGINAL WINDSHIELD, RESULTING IN SHORTING OUT OF THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS AND OTHER DASH EQUIPMENT WHILE DRIVING, WITH NO WARNING. WITH ALL THE TALK ABOUT THE TOYOTA ACCELERATION PROBLEM, IT MADE ME RECALL TWO TIMES WHEN MY FORD EXPEDITION DID THE SAME THING. IT WAS ONLY MOMENTARILY THOUGH AND DID NOT SURGE UP TO HIGH SPEEDS. IT WAS JUST A SURGE OF POWER AND MY FOOT WAS NOT ON THE ACCELERATOR ...IT ONLY HAPPENED TWICE SO I NEVER THOUGHT MUCH ABOUT IT.. *TR
RECALL CAMPAIGN FOR FORD CRUISE CONTROL DEACTIVATION. *BF THE CONSUMER WANED TO KNOW IF THE 2001 FORD EXPEDITION VEHICLES WOULD BE RECALLED, BECAUSE HE KNEW AT LEAST 2 HAD CAUGHT ON FIRE. THE CONSUMER DID NOT STATE THAT ONE OF THE VEHICLES WAS HIS. *JB RECALL305V017000
THERE WAS A HEAVY RAIN THE EXPEDITION WAS PARKED OUTSIDE. THERE WAS WATER ON THE FLOOR MAT. THE HEADLIGHTS, WINDSHIELD WIPERS, RADIO WORKED WHEN THE EXPEDITION WAS OFF. YET WOULD NOT WORK WHEN THE CAR WAS ON. THE EXPEDITION ACTED ON ITS OWN. WE TOOK THE EXPEDITION TO THE DEALERSHIP (JIM KEIM FORD) WHERE WE PURCHASED THE VEHICLE. THEY CHARGED US 893.00 TO FIX THE FUSE PANEL, SENSOR PANEL AND RESEAL THE ENTIRE FRONT WINDOW. THEN JIM KEIM TOLD ME IT WOULD BE ANOTHER 200.00 IF THEY BROKE THE WINDSHEILD. I PAID THE MONEY AND HAVE NOT HAD A PROBLEM SINCE. *JB
CONSUMER'S VEHICLE WAS A PART OF THE RECALL FOR FORD EXPEDITION FIRES. HOWEVER, HE WAS TOLD THAT HE WOULD HAVE TO WAIT FOR SOMETIME BEFORE THE REPAIRS COULD BE DONE. CONSUMER FEELS AS THOUGHT THIS IS NOT UNACCEPTABLE. *AK
ELECTRONIC SHORTAGES IS CAUSING MALFUNCTIONS IN THE IGNITION SWITCH, WIPERS, RUNNING LIGHTS AND RADIO. THESE MALFUNCTIONS SEEM TO WORSEN WHEN IT RAINS. THE VEHICLE STARTS BY ITS SELF WHILE UNATTENDED. WHEN DRIVING IF THE WIPERS DONT WORK, I HAVE TO SHIFT THE TRANSMISSION TO NEUTRL FOR THEM TO OPERATE AND THE SAME FOR THE RADIO. I HAVE SPENT SEVERAL HUNDRED DOLLARS TO HAVE THIS PROBLEM LOOKED AT AND THE FORD DEALERSHIP STATED THAT THEY HAVE HAD SEVERAL VEHICLES COME IN WITH THE SAME PROBLEM, BUT I WOULD HAVE TO PAY AROUND $1000.00 MORE DOLLARS TO CHANGE OUT THE FUSE BOX AND STILL THIS MAY NOT THE CURE THE PROBLEM. THE TECHNITION STATED THAT WATER WAS GETTING IN BEHIND THE FUSE BOX SOME HOW. HE TOLD ME TO SILICONE THE COW DOWN TO THE WINDSHEILD TO REFLECT THE WATER, SO I DID AND IT DID NOT WORK. EVERY MORNING MY PREGANENT WIFE AS TO USE A BATTERY JUMPER BOX TO JUST START THE VEHICLE BECAUSE THE ELECTRONICS ON THE VEHICLE STAYS ON ALL THE TIME AS IF THE KEY WAS INSERTERED AND TURNED TO AUXILLARY. THE VEHICLE ATTEMPTS TO START DURING THE NIGHT BY ITS SELF. IT DOES NOT START, THE STARTER JUST TURNS OVER AS IF IT IS TRYING TO START UNTIL THE BATTERY GOES DEAD. I AM SCARED THAT THE VEHICLE IS GOING TO CATCH FIRE OR EVEN BLOW UP IN FRONT OF MY RESIDENCE. DEALERSHIP SAID THAT THEY COULD NOT FIX THE PROBLEM UNTIL ENOUGH PEOPLE CAME IN ASKING FOR THE SAME HELP. I HOPE THERE IS SOMETHING THAT CAN BE DONE ABOUT THIS 36,000.00 VEHICLE. I HAVE CARRIED THE VEHICLE TO SEVERAL OTHER MECHANICS AND THEY CANNOT FIGURE OUT THE PROBLEM BUT THEY STILL CHARGE ME FOR LOOKING. *AK
PREMATURE TIRE WEAR DO TO EARLY SWAY BAR LINK FAILURE. *NM
INCIDENT: 2001 FORD EXPEDITION 1. WINDSHIELD WIPERS WOULD NOT WORK, RADIO WOULD GO OFF WHEN VEHICLE WAS PUT IN GEAR, BLOWER, COMPASS, THERMOMETER LETS & BELLS WOULD NOT WORK, VEHICLE WOULD NOT START, BATTERY EVENTUALLY WENT DEAD, ETC 2. HAD TO SERVICE THE VEHICLE FOR SAFETY AND PERFORMANCE REASONS 3. EXPEDITION WAS SERVICED AT A LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP. SERVICE DEPARTMENT ADVISED US THAT THERE WAS A WATER LEAK AROUND THE WINDSHIELD. WATER WAS LEAKING INTO AN ELECTRICAL BOX - HAD TO REPLACE FUSE PANEL AND RESEAL GLASS AT A COST OF $456.96. *NM
WINDSHIELD WIPERS FAILED TO WORK WHEN SUV IN DRIVE;WHEN LIGHTS ON;4X4, WIPER AND ABS INDICATOR ON DASH FLASHING ON AND OFF. RADIO SHUTTING OFF WHEN VEHICLE PUT IN DRIVE. PW NOT WORKING WHEN VEHICLE IN DRIVE. 11/20/04 WAS FIRST OCCURRENCE. HAPPENED APPROX. 8 TIMES BETWEEN THEN AND 12/23/2004. *NM
I HAD COMPLETE FAILURE OF ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS DUE TO WATER LEAK AROUND FRONT WINDSHIELD AND/OR MOON ROOF
WHILE DRIVING MY 2001 FORD EXPEDITION AT 50 MPH I HEARD A POP AND THIS WAS FOLLOWED BY ERRATIC HANDLING AND POOR IDLE. AN INSPECTION LATER REVEALED A SPARK PLUG WHICH EJECTED OUT OF THE CYLINDER HEAD AND STRIPPED THE THREADS WITH IT. THE COST TO REPAIR THE HEAD WAS $600.00. INITIALLY I WAS TOLD I WOULD NEED A $2700 HEAD REPLACEMENT. THE DEALER ADVISED ME THAT THERE STILL CAN BE NO GUARANTEE THAT THE REPAIRED PLUG WON'T COME OUT OR ANY OF THE OTHER PLUGS. RESEARCH OF THIS PROBLEM SHOWS MANY EXPEDITION AND F-150 OWNERS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM.*AK
ON 12-21-04 WHILE DRIVING OUR '01 FORD EXPEDITION HOME FROM WORK, THERE WAS A LOUD POP, FOLLOWED BY RATTLING AND THE ENGINE CUT OFF. MY HUSBAND FOUND THAT A SPARK PLUG HAD EXPLODED OUT OF THE CYLINDER HEAD. WE TOOK THE TRUCK TO A FORD DEALER AND HE STATED THAT THE SPARK PLUG EXPLODED OUT PF THE HEAD STRIPPING THE GROVES IN THE CYLINDER HEAD. THE DEALER SUGGESTED THAT WE REPLACE THE CYCLINDER HEAD AT A COST OF $2700. THIS TRUCK IS PROPERLY MAINTAINED AND ONLY HAS APPROXIMATELY 68,000 MILES ON IT.
WHILE PLACING THE KEY INSIDE OF THE IGNITION VEHICLE WOULD TURN OFF. BUT CONSUMER COULD TURN THE IGNITION SWITCH MANUALLY WITHOUT THE KEY INSIDE. VEHICLE WOULD TURN ON, AND THE WINDOWS WOULD ROLL UP. CONSUMER TOOK VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION, BUT MECHANIC COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. *AK THERE WERE TIMES WHEN THE CONSUMER WAS UNABLE TO GET THE KEY OUT OF THE IGNITION, AND THERE WERE TIMES WHEN HE DID GET THE KEY OUT, THE RADIO CONTINUED TO PLAY. *JB
2001 FORD EXPEDITION FUEL SYSTEM INDICATOR PROBLEM. WITH VEHICLE TANK CAPACITY AT 1/4 FULL AND WHEN PARKED ON AN INCLINE (ENGINE DOWN) VEHICLE HAS REPETITIVE IGNITION PROBLEMS DUE TO INSUFFICIENT FUEL PICK UP. SERVICE TECHNICIANS FROM FORD DEALERSHIP INDICATE THEY ARE AWARE OF SUCH, BUT CAN ONLY RECOMMEND "ALWAYS KEEPING TANK AT >1/2 FULL AND THEY WILL NOT/CAN NOT REPAIR DEFICIENCY". CRUISE CONTROL DEACTIVATION SWITCH COMPONENETS RECOVERED AND XRAYED. INTERNAL CONTACTS ARCED AND SPLATTERED. ALSO ARCING ON WIRING HARNESS ADJACENT TO VACUUM BOOSTER.
A SPARK PLUG BLEW OUT OF SOCKET #3 CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO RUN ON 7 CYLINDERS. PROVIDE FURTHER DETAILS. *JB
TIRE SEPARATION ON A 2001 FORD EXPEDITION CAUSING DAMAGE TO THE FRONT AND SIDE PANEL OF THE VEHICLE. *NM
THE COMPLAINT WAS SENT VIA E-MAIL. I RECENTLY HAD A NEAR ACCIDENT WHILE TRAVELING. THE VEHICLE TRANSMISSION JUST ALL OF A SUDDEN LOCKED UP AND SLAMMED OUT OF GEAR. LUCKILY I HAD JUST EXITED OFF A BUSY HIGHWAY, AND WAS SPARED A POSSIBLE DEADLY ACCIDENT. AFTER TAKING THE VEHICLE TO A REPAIR SHOP I WAS TOLD THE SPRAG CLUTCH HAD GONE OUT, AND THE METAL SHAVINGS WERE ALL IN THE TRANSMISSION. I WAS ALSO TOLD THAT THE PROBLEM WAS A KNOWN ISSUE BY FORD AND AMONG THE REPAIRS SHOPS. THE DEFECT IS IDENTIFIED WITHIN A SPECIFIC 6 MONTHS TIME FRAME OF PRODUCTION. THEY SAID THAT THE NEW FORD REPLACEMENT TRANSMISSION HAS BEEN MODIFIED TO FIX THIS KNOWN DEFECT IN THE SPRAG CLUTCH.*AK
FUSE BOX AND MODULE ALL KINDS OF ELECTRIAL PROBLEMS ALSO CAR WILL START ON ITS OWN THE CAR WILL JUMP INTO REVERSE
REAR DRIVER'S SIDE SEAT BELT MALFUNCTIONED. CONSUMER TRIED TO UNLOCK THE SEAT BELT FROM THE BELT BUCKLE AND WAS UNABLE TO DO SO. THEREFORE, CONSUMER CUT THE SEAT BELT IN PIECES. CONSUMER WILL CONTACT THE DEALER IN THE NEAR FUTURE. *AK
THE CONSUMER RECEIVED AN INSPECTION LETTER FROM THE MANUFACTURER TO HAVE THE TIE RODS INSPECTED. THE CONSUMER LATER CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURER AND ASKED WHY? SINCE THE VEHICLE ONLY HAS 68,000 MILES ON IT AND WHY SHOULD THE TIE RODS BE SUSPECT TO FAILURE AT ONLY 68,000 MILES. THE MANUFACTURER FAILED TO COMMENT. THE CONSUMER IS NOW TERRIFIED IN FEAR THAT THE VEHICLE MAY HAVE PROBLEMS THAT COULD EFFECT THE CHILDREN. PROVIDE FURTHER DETAILS. *JB

THIS EXPEDITION STARTS UP WITH NO KEY WIPERS START AND STOP DOOR LOKES OPEN AND CLOSE 4 WHEEL DRIVE ENGAGES AND DISENGAGES IN PARK OR NEUTRAL THE CAR TRIES TO START AGAIN WHEN IT IS ALREADY RUNNING . THE CAR WAS PARKED WHILE I WENT INTO THE STORE MY WIFE WAS IN THE CAR IT JUMPED INTO REVERSE SHE JUMPED OUT OF THE CAR THE DOOR HIT HER NOCKED HER DOWN AND ALMOST RAN HER OVER THIS CAN BE REPEATED THE FUSE BOX AND MODULE WERE REPLACED AT A COST OF ABOUT $1,000.00 ALSO I HAD TO REPLACE THE FRONT WINDSHIELD AS IT WAS LEAKING THEY SAID THE CAR WAS OUT OF WARRENTY THE CAR HAS NEVER BEEN IN A ACCIDENT .
WHILE DRIVING FROM LA TO OH WE EXPERIENCED TIRE TREAD SEPARATION ON THE REAR DRIVER SIDE TIRE WHILE GOING 70 MILES AN HOUR ON THE HWY.THE TIRES ARE ORIGINAL TO THE 2001 EXPEDITION.CONTINENTAL ISSUED A RECALL ON CERTAIN P275/60R17 TIRES ON 2000 & 2001 EXPEDITIONS AND NAVIGATORS.THE RECALL WAS ISSUED DUE TO POTENTIAL TREAD DETACHMENT OR SEPARATION.WHEN I FOUND OUT ABOUT THE RECALL AT THE BEGINNING OF LAST YEAR I HAD THE TIRES CHECKED AND FOUND THEY WERE NOT PART OF THE RECALL.AFTER OUR TREAD SEPARATION AND NUMEROUS CALLS TO CONTI'S CORPORATE OFFICE IN SOUTH CAROLINA AND LAST TIME SPEAKING WITH SUPERVISOR(WHO WOULD NOT GIVE ME HIS LAST NAME) I PERSONALLY WAS TOLD THAT CONTI WOULD REPLACE THE TIRE WITH TREAD SEPARATION (PRO RATED) BUT NOT THE REMAINING TIRES ON THE VEHICLE BECAUSE THEY AREN'T DEFECTIVE.I TOLD HIM I DID NOT FEEL SAFE HAVING THESE TIRES ON MY VEHICLE ESPECIALLY SINCE WE HAVE 1040 MILE TRIP HOME BUT WAS TOLD "NO REPLACEMENTS". WHEN I ASKED HOW THE TIRE COULD JUST SUDDENLY HAVE TREAD SEPARATION, I WAS TOLD THAT IN THE SUMMER WHEN TIRES HEAT UP THIS CAN HAPPEN.HE TOLD ME THAT IF I STILL FELT UNSAFE WITH THEN TO TAKE THEM TO EITHER A LOCAL FORD DEALER OR TO A TIRE DEALER.WE TOOK THE TRUCK TO BOTH AND WERE TOLD THAT SORT OF SEPARATION IS RARE & UNUSUAL.THE FORD DEALER HAS ATTEMPTED TO REACH AN AGREEMENT WITH CONTI TO BUT WAS TOLD THE BEST "DEAL" WOULD ONLY GIVE 25% OFF NEW TIRES AND NOT REPLACE THEM TOTALLY (NOT EVEN THE DEFECTIVE TIRE). THE GENERAL GRABBER AW P275/60R17'S HAVE BEEN DISCONTINUED AND ANOTHER BRAND WIL HAVE TO BE SUBSTITUTED.I THINK THAT THESE TIRES PRESENT A SAFETY HAZARD TO OTHER PEOPLE WHO MAY UNKNOWINGLY HAVE THEM THINK THEY ARE SAFE BECAUSE THEY WERE NOT PART OF THE RECALL.I FEEL THAT OTHERS NEED TO BE INFORMED OF THIS HAZARD AND OF CONTI'S UNWILLINGNESS TO RECTIFY THE SITUATION. THE LEFT REAR TIRE EXPERIENCED A TREAD SEPARATION WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH WITH TWO ADULTS IN A FORD, EXPLORER 2001. THE PROBLEM WAS NOTICED WHEN THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE WAS WOBBLING, AND SOMETHING WAS FLAPPING AGAINST THE BODY OF THE VEHICLE. ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT, TIRE SIZE 275/60R17, AND DOT #ADT044T0101. TIRE COMPANY WAS NOTIFIED. *AK
BEGINNING ABOUT 8-12 MONTH'S AGO, THE RIGHT REAR CHILD SAFETY LOCK FREQUENTLY SWITCHES FROM THE "UNLOCKED" POSITION TO THE "LOCKED" POSITION, APPROXIMATELY EVERY 3RD-TO-4TH TIME THE RIGHT REAR DOOR IS SHUT. THIS MALFUNTION OF A SAFETY FEATURE CREATES SITUATIONS WHERE THE PASSENGER IS LOCKED WITHIN THE CAR AND CANNOT LET THEMSELVES OUT UNLESS THE DOOR IS OPENNED FROM THE OUTSIDE.

DEFECTIVE GENERAL GRABBER AW SUV TIRES.*MR THE CONSUMER'S EXPERIENCED A TIRE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A TIRE RETAILER AND THE REPAIRMAN NOTICED A SEPARATION BETWEEN THE TREAD RIBS WAS FORMING. A REPLACEMENT OF THE SAME TIRE WAS NOT AVAILABLE THEREFORE THE TECHNICIAN MOVED THE TIRE TO THE SPARE AREA. SEVERAL MONTHS LATER THE CONSUMER OBSERVED A LARGE SECTION OF THE TIRE MISSING DUE TO TREAD SEPARATION. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO LOCATE A GENERAL DEALER THE CONSUMER CAME ACROSS A RECALL FOR GENERAL GRABBER AW TIRES (02T-012000). THE SERVICE ADVISOR STATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL ON THE VEHICLE. *NM
I HAVE A 2001 FORD EXPEDITION THAT CAME EQUIPPED WITH GENERAL GRABBER AW TIRES, 275/60R 17 (ALL HAVE DOT # ADTO 44T 2401). THESE PARTICULAR TIRES WERE RECALLED DUE TO TREAD SEPARATION AND I TOOK THEM TO A FORD DEALER WHEN I HEARD OF THE RECALL. I WAS INFORMED THAT MY TIRES WERE NOT COVERED BY THE RECALL. I WAS TOLD THAT THE PROBLEM WAS CORRECTED AND THAT THE TIRES WERE FINE. I WAS ALSO TOLD THAT THE PROBLEM WAS THAT THE TIRES WERE EXPERIENCING TREAD SEPARATION AT ABOUT 45,000 MILES. AT 47,000 MILES ON THE TIRES WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS I FELT SEVERE SHAKING OF THE VEHICLE, I PULLED OFF OF THE ROAD AND INSPECTED THE TIRES. ONE OF THE TIRES (RIGHT REAR) SHOWED EXTENSIVE TREAD SEPARATION VERY NEAR TOTAL FAILURE. ONLY MY GOOD JUDGEMENT AVERTED A POSSIBLE DISASTER. I WENT TO MY FORD DEALER TO COMPLAIN ABOUT THE TIRES, THEY SAID THAT THEY MAY BE ABLE TO HELP ME WITH NEW TIRES. WHEN IT CAME DOWN TO THE BOTTOM LINE THEY SAID THAT THE TIRES HAD TOO MANY MILES. I WILL NOT BUY ANOTHER SET OF GENERAL TIRES EVER. I FEEL THAT BOTH FORD AND CONTINENTAL (GENERAL) AND RESPONSIBLE AND SHOULD REPLACE THESE TIRES WHICH THEY SHOULD HAVE DONE 2 YEARS AGO WHEN THE OTHERS WERE RECALLED. THEY HAVE BEEN GAMBLEING WITH THE SAFETY OF MY FAMILY AND APPARENTLY HAVE DODGED THE BULLET THIS TIME. *AK
4R100 AUTOMATICTRANSMISSION ON 2001 EXPEDITION WITH 45,700 STARTED LEAKING TRANSMISSION FLUID. MECHANIC FOUND FRONT BUSHING THAT WAS WORN OUT AND STATED THAT BUSHING LOOKED TO HAVE 150,000 MILES ON IT RATHER THATN 45,700. OVIOUSLY A DEFECTIVE PART. AFTER REPLACING BUSHING, SEALS GASKETS, BEARINGS AND TORQUE CONVERTOR AND A BILL OF $860 I STILL DON'T KNOW IF CAR IS RELIABLE OR NOT. *AK
2001 FORD EXPEDITION (EDDIE BAUER) HAS HAD REPEATED WATER LEAKS IN FRONT WINDSHIELD. I'VE HAD THE WINDOW REPLACED ONCE AND REPAIRED 2 MORE TIMES, SO FAR IN THE PAST 2 YEARS. IT CAUSED MY AUTOMATIC HEAD-LIGHT CONTROL SWITCH TO FAIL. ALSO MY REAR-WINSHIELD WIPERS FAILED ONCE, BUT I'M NOT SURE IF IT WAS RELATED TO A WINDSHIELD LEAK.

WHILE AT A STOP LIGHT WITH FOOT ON BRAKE TRUCK WIL ACCELERATE WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WILL SURGE FORWARD. COULD BE VERY DANGEROUS. TAKEN VEHICLE IN TO DEALER 5 TIMES BUT THEY ARE UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM AND REFUSE TO FIX IT. FORD ENGINEER WAS SENT TO LOOK AT THE TRUCK AND WAS ALSO UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM.*AK
REAR MIDDLE SEAT BELT WAS HARD TO UNLOCK FROM THE BELT BUCKLE. DEALERSHIP WAS NOTIFIED, BUT DID NOT RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. *AK

LOWER BALL JOINT FAILURE ,NO WARNING. LOWER BALL JOIT ,RIGHT SIDE-RIGHT FRONT AXLE(INNER AND OUTER C/V JOINTS. REPLACED BALL JOIT AND AXLE AT OWN EXPENSE. FORD SAID BALL JOINTS SHOULD LAST 100,000 MILES , VEHICLE ONLY HAS 55,600 MILES. *AK
I PAID $48000 FOR A FORD EXPEDITION AND THE TRANSMISSION BURN UP WITH ONLY 35000 MILES ON IT. THE REPAIR SHOP SAYS ITS COMMON WITH THE EXPEDITION AND THE DESIGN IS FLAWED. I WOULD LIKE FORD TO PAY FOR THE REPAIRS, THEY SAY ITS NOT COVERED. *LA
I HAVE A 2001 FORD EXPIDITION WITH ONLY 35000 MILES ON IT AND THE TRANSMISSION BURNED UP. THE REPAIR SHOP SAID THE TRANSMISSION PROBLEM WAS COMMON WITH THE EXPIDITION AND IT WAS FLAWED IN ITS DESIGN. IT COST ME $2,200 TO OVERHALL THE TRANSMISSION, I ASKED FORD TO COVER THE REPAIR, THEY SAID NO, PLEASE HELP, THANKS, MARK.
