WINDSHIELD WIPERS, RADIO, CLOCK, ALL STOP WORKING DUE TO WATER LEAK. IT WAS RAINING FOR SEVERAL HOURS. IN ADDITION, THE AC BLOWER WAS RUNNING WITH THE ENGINE OFF AND WITH NO KEYS IN THE IGNITION. DEALER FIXED WINSHIELD WATER LEAK AND INSTALLED SOP PARTS GEM MODULE AND CJB; ALSO REPLACED CENTRAL JUNCTION BOX. DESPITE ALL THIS, IN TWO OTHER OCCASIONS, THE AC CONTINUED TO RUN WITHOUT THE KEY IN THE VEHICLE. THIS WAS FINALLY FIXED. OLD PARTS ARE NOT AVAILABLE. *NM
IGNITION COILED BURNED OUT CAUSING A 30 AMP FUSE TO FAIL. THE CAR IMMEDIATELY STALLED AND WOULD NOT START AGAIN DUE TO ELECTRONIC SYSTEM SHUTDOWN. THE CAR HAS ONLY 40,000 MILES AND IT AND HAS HAD ALL RECOMMENDED SERVICE. THE FORD DEALERSHIP SERVICE DEPARTMENT WHO MADE THE REPAIR STATED THAT THERE WERE 8 OF THESE IGNITION COILS AND THEY COULD BURN OUT AT ANY TIME CAUSING THE SAME FAILURE.*AK
WE OWN A 2001 EXPEDITION THE TIRES ON THIS VEHICLE ARE THE SAME TIRES RECALLED P275/60R17. I WENT TO GREENVILLE TO PICK UP MY SON ON THE WAY HOME I FELT THE VEHICLE SHAKING AND DID'NT KNOW WHAT WAS HAPPENING. I STARTED SLOWING DOWN AND WE HEAR A BANG NOISE I PULLED OVER INTO THE EMERGENCY LANE AND CHECKED MY TIRES THE BACK RIGHT SIDE HADE A LARGE BARE SPOT ON THE TIRE SHOWING THE SEPARATION AND WIRES OF THE TIRE. MY SON WHO JUST HAD SURGERYON HIS FOOT HAD TO CHANGE THE TIRE. NO-ONE WAS HURT. I KNOW THE LORD WAS TRUELY LOOKING OUT FOR US BECAUSE FROM WHAT I HAVE HEARD PEOPLE HAVE BEEN KILLED FROM THESE TIRES SEPARATING. I CALLED BEN SATCHER WHERE WE BOUGHT THE VEHICLE FROM AND THE SERVICE MANAGER SAID MY PARTICULAR VEHICLE DIDN'T HAVE THE RIGHT SERIAL NUMBER FOR THE RECALLED TIRES AND THEY WON'T DO ANYTHING FOR US. I THINK IF WE WERE KILLED THEY'D HAVE A BIGGER PROBLEM ON THEIR HANDS. BUT THE PURPOSE OF WRITING THIS IS TO LET YOU KNOW I THINK MORE TIRES WERE EFFECTED THAN CONTINENTAL TIRES IS CONSIDERING. CAN SOMEONE PLEASE LET ME KNOW WHAT I SHOULD DO NEXT BECAUSE I BELIEVE OTHERS WILL CONTINUE TO HAVE THESE TYPE OF PROBLEMS AND THEY JUST DON'T KNOW HOW TO GET HELP EITHER. I THINK THERE NEEDS TO BE ANOTHER INVESTIGATION OF THESE TIRES. I HAVE SEEN THE COMPLAINTS POSTED AND THEY SEEM TO HAVE BEEN REPORTED AFTER THE ORGINIAL RECALL HAS EXPIRED AND WE SHOULD NOT BE PENALIZED FOR THIS PROBLEM HAPPENING AFTER YOUR EXPIRATION DATE OF HELPING PEOPLE. IF A TIRE IS BAD IT'S SEEMS TO ME YOU SHOULD NOT BE ABLE TO PUT A CAP ON THAT. *AK
SPARE TIRE CABLE BROKE UNDERNEATH THE TRUCK WHILE DRIVING 20 MPH OR LESS, CAUSING THE SPARE TIRE TO ROLL INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE ON THE HIGHWAY. THE DEALER WAS CONTACTED. *AK
TRUCK SHOCKS/ SPRINGS ARE NO GOOD. VERY SQUEECKY FRONT TIRES. HARD TO CONTROL AFTER HITTING A BUMP OR POT HOLE AT THE LOWEST OF SPEEDS. *AK
I OWN A 2001 FORD EXPEDITION. IN THE YEARS SINCE I HAVE HAD IT I HAVE EXPERIENCED SUDDEN ACCELERATION NUMEROUS TIMES. I HAVE BEEN FORTUNATE IN THAT WHEN THE SUDDEN ACCELARATION HAPPENS I HAVE BEEN AT A STAND STILL AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT OR HEAVY TRAFFIC AND THEREFOR ALREADY STEPPING ON THE BRAKES. THE ENGINE WILL REV UP ALL OF A SUDDEN, IT HAS CAUGHT ME OFF GUARD A COUPLE OF TIMES BECAUSE IT DOES NOT HAPPEN OFTEN BUT WHEN IT DOES YOU CAN OF COURSE HEAR IT, FEEL THE VEHICLE REVING UP AND SEE THE NEEDLES ON THE METERS GO ALL THE WAY TO THE OTHER END. THE TIMES THAT IT DID CATCH ME OFF GUARD THE TRUCK JUMPED FORWARD IN THE SECOND IT TOOK ME TO APPLY THE BRAKES. IT HAS NOT CAUSED ANY CRASH OR INJURIES BUT I WATCHED A REPORT ON NBC CHANNEL 2 NEWS IN HOUSTON AND FELT I SHOULD PROBABLY REPORT THIS IN CASE THIS IS HAPPENING TO MORE PEOPLE WITH THIS TYPE OF VEHICLE IT COULD BE A SERIOUS PROBLEM.*AK
DESPITE BACK TO DEALER THREE TIMES FOR SAME PROBLEM STILL NOT RESOLVED. VEHICLE LUNGES FORWARD ABOUT 1-3 INCHES WHEN STARTED AS IF IN GEAR. ALTHOUGH PROBLEM IS INTERMITTENT IT DOES SEEM TO OCCUR MOST FREQUENTLY WHEN FIRST STARTED IN THE MORNING. *AK
SEVERAL TIMES, USUALLY AT STOP LIGHTS, WHILE IDLING WITH FOOT ON THE BRAKE, THE ENGINE SURGES UP TO APPROX 1000 RPM FOR APPROX 3-5 SEC. IF FOOT WAS NOT ON THE BRAKE, THE TRUCK COULD HAVE ACCELERATED INTO THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME, OR INTO THE INTERSECTION. EVERY TIME I'M AT THE FORD DEALERSHIP I HAVE THEM INVESTIGATE, BUT NOTHING IS FOUND ON THE COMPUTER CODE SEARCH, AND THE SYMPTOM IS VERY IRREGULAR AND RARE, SO IT HAS NOT REPRODUCED WHILE AT THE DEALER. I'VE SEEN THIS REPORTED BEFORE ON MYCARSTATS.COM. *NM
AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION WAS SLIPPING AND WOULDN'T GO INTO REVERSE. DEALERSHIP INDICATED THAT THE BELTS WERE BAD, AND THE ENTIRE TRANSMISSION SHOULD BE REPLACED.*AK
TODAY (7/21/06) I AGAIN CONTACTED THE FORD CUSTOMER RELATIONSHIP CENTER CONCERNING A PROBLEM WITH THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM IN MY 2001 EXPEDITION. IT HAS CONTINUALLY EATEN BATTERIES AND THE BATTERY SAVER RELAY DUE TO A WINDSHIELD LEAK THAT FORD CLAIMS THEY ARE NOT AWARE OF, YET NHTSA HAS BEEN RECEIVING REGULAR COMPLAINTS ON THIS PROBLEM. INITIALLY THE DRAWDOWN WAS DIAGNOSED BY FORD AS RELATING TO RHE CRUISE CONTROL RECALL. GUESS WHAT? THAT'S FIXED BUT THE FRYING OF THE BATTERY SAVER RELAY AND BATTERY DRAWDOWN CONTINUE. I DID NOT APPRECIATE DALE AT THE FORD CONSUMER RELATIONSHIP NUMBER REFERRING ME TO A FORD DEALERSHIP IN CARSON CITY, I'M SURE IF I DROVE THE VEHICLE FROM HAWAII THE LEAK WOULD GET WORSE. MEANWHILE, WHAT IS NHTSA DOING ABOUT COMPLAINTS YOU'VE BEEN RECEIVING FOR YEARS? THIS DEFECT IS WELL DOCUMENTED AND CAUSED INJURIES AND ECONOMIC STRESS. WOULD YOU PLEASE TAKE SOME ACTION?
WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH THE LEFT FRONT WHEEL ASSEMBLY SHEARED OFF. THIS CAUSED THE DRIVER TO LOSE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND HIT A GUARD RAIL. UPON IMPACT, NEITHER FRONTAL AIR BAG DEPLOYED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN AUTO BODY SHOP. *NM
WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED THE CONSUMER HEARD A LOUD NOISE COMING FROM THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE VIBRATED UNCONTROLLABLY. THE DRIVER WAS ABLE TO MAINTAIN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND DROVE IT TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION. THE MECHANIC WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER DETAILS. *JB
ON JANUARY 11, 2004 CONSUMER'S VEHICLE EXPLODED WHILE BEING PARKED IN THE GARAGE. THIS EXPLOSION DAMAGED ABOUT 80% OF HOUSE PROPERTY. WHEN THIS WAS INVESTIGATED IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THIS WAS DUE TO A DEFAULT IN ELECTRICAL SYSTEM WIRING. CONSUMER HAD VEHICLE SERVICED TWICE PRIOR TO THIS INCIDENT.*AK
VEHICLE CAUGHT FIRE WHILE PARKED, COMPLETELY ENGULFED IN FLAMES
MY 2001 FORD EXPEDITION XLT LURCHES FORWARD WHEN I AM STOPPED IN TRAFFIC OR AT A LIGHT. I HAVE TAKEN IT IN TO THE DEALERSHIP SEVERAL TIMES TO HAVE THE PROBLEM FIXED. THEY CANNOT FIND A REASON WHY MY CAR DOES THIS. THE SERVICE MANAGER EVEN DROVE THE CAR AROUND FOR A FEW DAYS AND COULD NOT FIGURE IT OUT. THEY TRIED RE-SETTING THE COMPUTER BUT THAT DID NOT WORK. THIS IS A BIG PROBLEM. IT EVEN HAPPENED WHEN MY MOTHER WAS GETTING OUT OF THE CAR.*AK
TIRE TREAD SEPARATED. (NAR) *PH WHILE DRIVING A PIECE OF THE PASSENGER SIDE REAR TIRE TREAD CAME OFF THE TIRE. THE TIRE WAS REPLACED WITH THE SPARE. NEXT THE DRIVERS SIDE REAR TIRE TREAD SEPARATED WHICH CAUSED TEMPORARY LOSS OF CONTROL. THE TIRE DAMAGED THE REAR BUMPER AND WHEEL WELL. WHILE DOING RESEARCH THE CONSUMER CAME ACROSS A RECALL NOTICE FOR THE TIRES. THE CONSUMER REQUEST REIMBURSEMENT FOR THE PRICE OF FIVE NEW TIRES, DAMAGE AND MENTAL ANGUISH. THE VEHICLE TRANSMISSION ALSO HAD TO BE OVERHAULED BECAUSE IT CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO VIBRATE WHILE CHANGING GEARS. THE IGNITION COIL WAS REPLACED TO ALLEVIATE BUCKING WHILE DRIVING AT A STEADY SPEED. *NM
THE BRAKE PEDAL SEPARATED FROM ITS LINKAGE. THIS OCCURRED WHILE DRIVING. AS A RESULT, CONSUMER WAS UNABLE TO DEPRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL WHEN NEEDED. THIS CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO IMPACT A CURB. POLICE INSPECTOR INDICATED THAT IT WAS DUE TO A MANUFACTURING DEFECT.*AK
WHILE DRIVING AT 45 MPH, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY STOPPED SHIFTING GEARS PROPERLY. THE VEHICLE FAILED TO GO INTO REVERSE AND THERE WAS A METAL TO METAL NOISE. THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION MALFUNCTIONED WHICH CAUSED THIS FAILURE. *AK *SC *JB
WITHOUT ANY INDICATION WHILE TRAVELING 23 MPH AN EXPLOSION OCCURRED. THEN, A LOUD NOISE CAME FROM THE FRONT. A TECHNICIAN SERVICING THE VEHICLE NOTICED THAT THE 4TH SPARK PLUG HAD EXPLODED.*AK LEAVING THREADED PARTS INSIDE THE ENGINE HEAD, UNABLE TO BE REMOVED NORMALLY, THE ENGINE HEAD HAD TO BE REMOVED FOR $1262.02. *CB *JB
I PLACED THE VEHICLE IN PARK WITH THE ENGINE RUNNING. EXITED THE VEHICLE THE VEHICLE JUMPED INTO REVERSE ACROSS THE STREET STRIKING A TREE CAUSING OVER $2700 IN DAMAGES. *LA
2001 FORD EXPEDITION TRANSMISSION 4R100 FAILED AT 44,000 MILES. TRANSMISSION "LOCKED UP" WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT 55 MPH. TOTAL REPLACEMENT NEEDED. TOTAL COST $3200. NUMEROUS SERVICE BULLETINS ISSUED ON THIS MODEL TRANSMISSION. THIS SHOULD BE CONSIDERED A DEFECTIVE AND DANGEROUS PRODUCT AND A RECALL SHOULD BE MADE. FORD NEEDS TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY. *LA
4R100 TRANSMISSION HAS TO BE REPLACED AT 49,000 MILES. THIS SEEMS TO BE A PROBLEM BASED ON NUMBER OF COMPLAINTS AND SERVICE BULLETINS. WHY NO RECALL. FORD NEEDS TO FIX THEIR TRANSMISSION.*AK
MY SUV OCCASIONALLY ACCELERATES WHEN THE RPMS ARE LOW I.E. WHEN IDLING AT A LIGHT OR COMING TO A SLOW STOP. I HAVE NOT HAD AN ACCIDENT OR INJURY YET BUT I HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALER A COUPLE OF TIMES WHEN IT WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY BUT THEY SAID THEY COULD FIND NOTHING WRONG WITH IT. THE ACCELERATION IS NOT ROCKET-LIKE BUT I CAN FEEL A SLIGHT JUMP AND WHEN THIS OCCURS I AM QUICK TO STEP ON THE BRAKE. IT DOES NOT OCCUR ON A REGULAR BASIS.*AK

AT ANY SPEED, OR WHEN COMING TO A STOP, THE ENGINE REVVED AND RACED INTERMITTENTLY. THE THROTTLE HAD BECOME STUCK ON MANY OCCASIONS. THE CONSUMER'S WIFE WAS BACKING OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY AND THE THROTTLE BECAME STUCK. THE VEHICLE WENT OUT OF CONTROL AND CROSSED THE STREET, STRUCK A VEHICLE, AND COLLIDED INTO THE SIDE OF A HOUSE. THE MANUFACTURER AND DEALER WERE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. *AK *SC *JB
I WAS SITTING BEHIND ONE VEHICLE STOPPED AT AN INTERSECTION WAITING FOR THE LIGHT TO CHANGE. THE ENGINE SUDDENLY REVVED AND LUNGED FORWARD. DESPITE DEPRESSING THE BRAKE AS HARD AS I COULD, I WAS UNABLE TO PREVENT THE CAR FROM CRASHING INTO THE CAR IN FRONT. I BELIEVE THIS SURGE MAY HAVE HAPPENED PREVIOUSLY. APPROXIMATELY 1 1/2 YEARS AGO, I WAS ACCELERATING UP A HILL WHEN I SUDDENLY FELT A SURGE FORWARD EVEN AFTER I STOPPED PUSHING THE ACCELERATOR. *LA
BEGINING IN THE FALL OF 2003 MY 2001 FORD EXPEDITION WITH THE 4.6L ENGINE BEGAIN TO MAKE A TICKING SOUND AT START UP (WHEN ENGINE IS COLD). I'VE HAD THE VEHICLE IN THE DEALER SEVERAL TIMES AND THEY HAVE HEARD THE SOUND, BUT THEY HAVE OFFERED NO REASONABLE EXPLANATION OF THE CAUSE OR NATURE OF THE PROBLEM AND THE POTENTIAL DAMAGE IT MAY CAUSE. THERE ARE SEVERAL SERVICE BULLETINS, INCLUDING 03256, THAT NOTED THIS PROBLEM.*AK
I AM TOLD THAT I NEED TO REPLACE MY TRANSMISSION AT 70,000 MILES. THE PROBLEM IS REPORTED IN TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN 01137. I THINK IT SHOULD BE A RECALL.
WHILE DRIVING FRONT PASSENGER SIDE TIRE SEPARATED WITHOUT WARNING. *AK
AT LEAST 5 DIFFERENT TIMES MY SUV HAS SURGED AND EACH TIME I TAKE IT IN TO THE SHOP AND THEY NEVER CAN SEEM TO FIND THE PROBLEM. IT USUALLY HAPPENS AT LOW IDLE SPEEDS AND YOU NEVER KNOW WHEN IT WILL DO IT.ONCE I ABOUT WENT THROUGH THE BLOCK BUSTERS LARGE WINDOW. SOMEBODY IS GOING TO GET HURT IF FORD DOESNT FIX THIS PROBLEM. ALSO MY 4 WHEEL DRIVE KICKS ON SOMETIMES WHEN IM SETTING STILL ,LIKE AT A RED LIGHT.I HAVE TO TURN IT ON THEN TURN IT OFF FOR I TO GET OUT OF 4 WHEEL DRIVE. *AK
2001 FORD EXPEDITION SUFFERED FROM TIRE TREAD SEPARATION.*MR WHILE DRIVING THE TREAD OF THE LEFT REAR TIRE SEPARATED. THE TREAD SEPARATION CAUSED EXTENSIVE DAMAGE TO THE VEHICLE. IT BENT THE EXHAUST PIPE, RIPPED OFF THE WHEEL WELL TRIM, SMASHED THE TURN SIGNAL COMPARTMENT AND SCRAPED THE BUMPER. THE CONSUMER REQUESTED REIMBURSEMENT FOR THE DAMAGES AND WOULD LIKE REPLACEMENT TIRES. *NLM
THIS IS A MODIFIED COPY OF A LETTER SENT TO CONTINENTAL TIRE OF NORTH AMERICA, INC. AND TO FORD MOTOR COMPANY. THE REASON FOR INFORMING THE NHTSA OF THIS IS THE HOPE THAT THESE COMPANIES WILL BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR THE PRODUCTS THEY SELL THE AMERICAN PUBLIC. I DRIVE IS A 2001 FORD EXPEDITION, WHICH AT THE TIME OF THE INCIDENT HAD 26,000 MILES ON IT AND CAME STOCKED WITH GENERAL GRABBER AW TIRES DOT# ADT044T4900 SIZE 275/60/17. THE REASON FOR THIS LETTER IS NOT ONLY TO INFORM YOU OF MY DISGUST, BUT ALSO TO INFORM YOU THAT THIS TIRE CAUSED CLOSE TO $3,000 WORTH OF DAMAGE TO MY VEHICLE AND ALSO PUT MY FAMILY AND I IN DANGER ON THAT DAY AND EVERY OTHER DAY WE DROVE ON GENERAL TIRES. I ALSO WAS TOLD BY SEVERAL TIRE DISTRIBUTORSHIPS, THE TIRES WERE POORLY MADE AND IN ORDER FOR FORD TO MAKE A BUCK AND CONTINENTAL TIRE CO TO INCREASE THEIR PROFIT MARGIN EQUIPPED THOUSANDS OF FORD VEHICLES WITH AN INFERIOR PRODUCT. I DONT EXPECT POOR QUALITY ON ANY PART OF A VEHICLE THAT COSTS MORE THEN $40,000, WHICH IS WHY I AM FORWARDING THIS LETTER TO FORD MOTOR CO. AS A RESULT, I HAVE LOST ALL FAITH AND CONFIDENCE IN YOUR ABILITY TO PRODUCE A TIRE THAT IS SUITABLE FOR THE AMERICAN PUBLIC, AS WELL AS FORD TO PRODUCE A SUPERIOR PRODUCT FOR ITS CUSTOMERS. THIS IS WHY I AM ASKING FOR TOTAL REIMBURSEMENT FOR ALL COSTS, INCLUDING REPLACEMENT OF ALL TIRES TO ANOTHER BRAND AND COST OF A RENTAL VEHICLE WHILE MY CAR IS BEING REPAIRED. DRIVING A 2001 FORD EXPEDITION W/ TOW PACKAGE AND 2TRAILERS AT 55MPH, BACK TRAILER STARTED TO SWERVE WAS UNABLE TO BRING UNDER CONTROL DO TO THE EXPEDITIONS LACK OF SUSPENSION. TOW RATINGS FOR VECHICLE NOT REALIISTIC. LOST CONTROL OF ALL 3 VECH. AND ROLLED THEM ON 7/27/03. BOUGHT EXPEDITION WITH LARGER ENGINE AND TOW PKG. FOR THE PURPOSE OF TOWING. WILL SELL THE EXPEDITION AND GO BACK TO MY 1988 FORD E250, HAS HAULED THE SAME LOAD FOR OVER 10 YEARS NOW WITHOUT A PROBLEM.
CERTIFIED LTR REQUESTING NHTSA INITIATE A DEFECT INVESTIGATION RE SELECTED FORD MOTOR COMPANY VEHICLES LEFT FRONT INNER BEARINGS FOR ADVANCED FATIGUE CRACKS. *TS COMPLAINANT WAS RECENTLY ASKED TO CONSULT IN THE MATTER OF A FATAL HIGH SPEED HEAD ON TWO-VEHICLE COLLISION. WHILE DRIVING WESTBOUND 2001 FORD EXPEDITION VEERED INTO THE ONCOMING LANE AND STRUCK AN EASTBOUND 2000 FORD F250 LONG BED TRUCK TOWING A 5TH WHEEL TRAVEL TRAILER. THE RESULTING COLLISION KILLED THE THREE OCCUPANTS IN THE 2001 EXPEDITION AND THE TWO OCCUPANTS IN THE 2000 FORD F250 PICKUP TRUCK. METALLURGICAL ANALYSIS SHOWED THAT THE LEFT FRONT INNER BEARING FAILED ON THE EXPLORER AS A RESULT OF PROGRESSIVE FATIGUE. THE BEARING FAILURE OCCURRED AT APPROXIMATELY 30,000 MILES. STEELING FAILURE, LOST CONTROL OF CAR, CAR CRASHED TO THE WALL. WROTE TO FORD. BUT NO RESPONSE.*AK
AS WE WERE DRIVING WE HAD A TIRE TREAD SEPARATION. LUCKLY, WE DID NOT FLIP OVER IN OUR 2001 FORD EXPEDITION. TO OUR KNOWLEDGE WHEN WE GOT HOME WE CHECKED THE TIRES NUMBER AND IT WAS A RECALLED GENERAL- GRABBER AW.FORTUNATELY, WE ALL SURVIVED BUT OUR CAR HAS MAJOR DAMAGE. THE RECALL ON THE TIRES ENDED APRIL 1ST, 2003 AND WE PURCHASED THE SUV THE SAME MONTH.NOW THE TIRE MANUFACTURE DOESNOT WANT TO DO ANYTHING, FORD COMPANY SAYS-THEY WONT DO ANYTHING- THE DEALERSHIP THAT WE PURCHASED THE SUV FROM SAYS THEY'RE NOT RESPONSIBLE HOW DOES THE DEALERSHIP NOT KNOW ABOUT THE GRENADE THEY SOLD ME? I THOUGHT THAT THE PURPOSE OF A RECALL WAS TO SAVE LIVES... I ALMOST LOST MY FAMILY AND MY LIFE- IF WE DID DIE OR ONE OF MY FAMILY MEMBERS- WOULD SOMEONE FINALLY LISTEN? WELL, THAT'S THE IMPRESSION I'M GETTING.WHEN WILL THE RULES CHANGE? NTSB-SHOULD HELP ME BECAUSE THAT'S WHY YOU ALL DO THE WORK THAT YOU DO. THE TREAD ON THE LEFT REAR TIRE PEELED AWAY FROM THE SIDEWAYY. I HAVE OTHER TIRES SEPERATE, BUT THIS BY FAR WAS THE CLEANES SEPERATION THAT I HAVE SEEN. I WAS ON VACATION AND HAD ALL OTHER TIRES REPLACED AND MY COST. I NEVER HEARD ABOUT THE RECALL IN 2002 AND I AM VERY AGITATED WITH THIS, BECUASE I WOULD NEVER PUT MY FAMILY ON UNSAFE TIRES. THE TREAD HIT THE BACK TAILGATE AND QUARTER PANNEL AND COST A TOTAL OF $1,650 IN DAMAGE. NOW MY INSURACE COMPANY WILL DEAL WITH THIS "COMPANY".*AK
BLOWER MOTOR (INSIDE DASH) STOPPED WORKING. DEALER WAS PUZZLED BY THIS FALILURE AT 31.406 MILES. BLOWER MOTOR WAS JUST REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY. ON 4/14/04, (33,500 MILES) AIR CONDITIONING WAS BLOWING EVEN WITHOUT THE KEY IN THE IGNITION. RADIO. CLOCK AND WINSHIELD WIPERS STOPPED WORKING. APPARENT CAUSE: WATER LEAK. THIS SHOULD BE COVERED BY FIRST INCIDENT, SINCE THE PROBLEM IS IN THE SAME AREA, AND IT OCCURED IN AN INTERVAL OF 10 MONTHS AND ONLY 2,000 MILES. APPARENTLY IT IS NOT COVERED.*AK
WHILE DRIVING AT LOW SPEED HEARED A NOISE. FRONT WHEEL BEARING FAILED, AND WHEEL SEPARATED FROM THE VEHICLE. DEALER NOTIFIED. *AK
I AM BEING TOLD MY EXPEDITION TRANSMISSION NEEDS TO BE REBUILT. ORIGINALLY (TWO WEEKS AGO) WAS TOLD IT WAS A TORQUE CONVERTER, AND NOTICED NO DIFFERECE AFTER SPENDING $885.00. AFTER TAKING CAR BACK IN, I AM BEING TOLD TRANSMISSION NEEDS REBUILDING. TOTAL COST IS $2200.00, CHAMPION FORD SAYS FORD WILL PAY 1700.00 I NEED TO PAY AN ADDITIONAL $300.00. SEEMS ODD THAT A TRANSMISSION GOES OUT AT 44,000 MILES; WE DON'T PULL OR HAUL ANYTHING.
CONSUMER STATES THAT WHILE DRIVING AT 50MPH AND WITH NO WARNING THE REAR PASSENGER TIRE BLEWOUT. DEALER NOTIFIED.*AK
WHILE STOPPING WE WOULD HEAR A THUD SOUND COMING FROM THE TRANSMISSION AS WELL AS IT WOULD SURGE. THEN IT LOST THE ABILITY TO DISENGAGE FROM 4TH GEAR. TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY HAD IT FOR A WEEK. GOT IT BACK, AND ON THE WAY HOME THE PROBLEMS STARTED AGAIN AND THE ERROR CODE STARTED AGAIN. TOOK IT BACK FOR ANOTHER ROUND OF REPAIRS. SO FAR THIS HAS COST FORD $2,300 AND COUNTING. *JB

THE TIRES EXPERIENCED TREAD SEPARATION, WHICH MADE THE VEHICLE DIFFICULT TO CONTROL. THE VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A COLLISION, IN WHICH THE AIR BAGS DEPLOY, AND THE DRIVER SIDE AIR BAG CAUGHT ON FIRE. *JB SCC
SOMETIMES WHEN STARTING, VEHICLE WILL LUNG FOWARD AS IF IT WAS IN GEAR. IT MAY ONLY MOVE AND INCH OR SO BUT IT FEELS AS IF YOU ARE STARTING A CAR IN GEAR. *JB
I HAVE TWO INTERMITTENT ISSUES WITH MY 2001 FORD EXPEDITION EDDIE BAUER. 1. ON 4 OCCASIONS THE VEHICLE HAS SURGED FORWARD. THIS HAS HAPPENED TWICE AT 5 MPH, 50 MPH, AND 15 MPH. THE CRUISE CONTROL WAS NOT ON. AT THE SLOWER SPEEDS I WAS EITHER SLOWING DOWN OR COASTING AND THE RMP RAPIDLY INCREASED FOR ABOUT 2 SECONDS AND THEN SLOWED DOWN.(FROM 1100 RPMS UP TO 2200 RPMS) AT THE HIGHER SPEED, IT FELT LIKE SOMEONE RAN INTO THE BACK OF THE VEHICLE. IT TOOK OFF FOR A SIMILAR TIME AND THEN RETURNED TO THE PRIOR RPMS. I TOOK IT TO A BLUE OVAL CERTIFIED DEALER AND WAS TOLD NOTHING WAS WRONG WITH VEHICLE. 2. EITHER WHILE STOPPING OR ACCELERATING, THE RADIO VOLUME WILL TURN ITSELF WAY UP FOR A COUPLE OF SECONDS. IT SCARES THE HELL OUT OF YOU. THIS HAPPENS ABOUT ONCE A MONTH. THE FIRST ISSUE IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE AS I NARROWLY MISSED REAR-ENDING A VEHICLE ONE TIME AND A MAILBOX ANOTHER. THE SECOND ISSUE IS MORE OF A NUISANCE THAN A SAFETY ISSUE. BOTH APPEAR TO BE ELECTRICAL/COMPUTER ISSUES.*JB
