Open the full vehicle complaint log (all categories)IN 2015 WHILE LIVING IN NORTH DAKOTA I PURCHASED A 2015 FORD EXPEDITION EL. IN 2018 I MOVED TO FLORIDA AND HAD NEW TIRES INSTALLED IN 2019. NOW, 5,000 MILES LATER I AM TOLD THE LUG NUTS ARE SWOLLEN AND MY TIRES CANNOT BE ROTATED, I NEED TO BUY NEW LUG NUTS. I WAS SHOCKED AND NEVER HEARD OF THIS, I STOPPED IN THE LOCAL FORD DEALER AND WAS TOLD THIS IS TRUE, FORD DECIDED TO PUT THESE TWO PIECE LUG NUTS ON NEW VEHICLES, "WE HAVE SEEN THIS A LOT". I ASK IF THERE WAS A RECALL AND WAS TOLD "I WISH". THE DEALERSHIP SUGGESTED I SHOP AT AN AUTO PARTS STORE BECAUSE "OURS ARE PRETTY PRICEY AT $8 A PIECE, IT WILL BE COSTLY IF YOU NEED TO REPLACE LUG NUTS ON ALL 4 WHEELS". I CALLED FORD CORPORATE IN DETROIT AND WAS TRANSFERRED TO A CALL CENTER IN THE PHILIPPINES WERE THE FEMALE COULD ONLY READ FROM A SCRIPT STATING "THIS PROBLEM IS NOT COVERED BY THE MANUFACTURES WARRANTY."
Complaints are unverified consumer reports submitted to NHTSA. A high complaint count may reflect vehicle popularity, not defect severity. Data sourced from NHTSA public records.
