Took vehicle in for recall work of replacing the HVAC Front Blower Motor Assembly. Vehicle was returned and blower motor stopped working 3 days later. Now being told that the fan blower motor controller and connector have to be replaced becasue they have gone bad and that it is not covered under the current recall. There should be no reason that those parts aren't covered under the recall. if the blower motor hadn't overheated, then the controller and conector should not have been damaged. A quick google search over complaints for this same issue lets me know that other people have had the exact same issue. Ford said to file the complaint with you.
Driving vehicle on road and car lost all acceleration power. The check engine light appeared and the problem was diagnosed as a faulty throttle body. This exact same issue has been identified as a recall item with an extended warranty (ten years or 150,000 miles) on other Ford vehicles but for some unknown reason the 2017 expedition is not covered. THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE... I did speak to Ford and they offered no assistance.

The blend door actuator has failed on multiple occasions. There was a recall last August and we had the equipment repaired at the Ford dealership in Ayden. Just after one year it is not failed again. I called and the warranty for the equipment was 12 months. I am disappointed that we are now stuck with paying to repair what is a known equipment issue. My concern is there could be a fire or electrical concern throughout the truck. There are no warning lights, only a constant clicking sound in the rear of the truck where the blend door actuator is housed.
Rear camera blurry and unable to view. One has to get out and open and close the rear liftgate in order for the camera to work correctly. This may have to be done a number of times before camera is returned to normal operation. Dealer stated it may take $1000.00 dollars to repair.
While driving, the speedometer began to bounce around. This caused erratic shifting. At one point the speedometer went to zero while we were still moving. I pulled over put it in park and it would not go into gear. During this the air bag light came on. After turning the vehicle off and back on again, everything went back to normal. Over a period of days, it would do the same thing again, but not as bad as the time listed above. The speedometer will bounce around while driving and cause moderate shifting issues. I took the vehicle into a shop, and they ran the code as being Output Speed Sensor. After research, it appears Ford had a recall on output speed sensors for 2014 F-150 vehicles (Recall Reference Number 24S37) which use the 6R80 transmission. I contacted my local Ford dealership and Ford corporate via chat, and both told me my 2017 Expedition was not covered under that recall. Since my vehicle uses the same transmission, I inquired as to what they did to fix the output speed sensor issue. They could not provide me with that information. I have several videos of the speedometer bouncing around, but am unable to upload them here.
Master cylinder leaked into brake booster. Paid for those repairs which apparently are covered under other 2017 VIN # but not mine? Now the ABS transducer is messed up and the car needs new hydraulic pump & module.

The vehicle was taken to the dealer however, the cause of the failure was not yet determined. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The contact was informed that the repair was not covered under NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V150000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic). The failure mileage was approximately 115,000.
Coolant leaked into the starter causing the vehicle to not start. The EcoBoost seems to be a major issue for Ford, and this most recent issue should be covered under a recall.
We were out of town driving to a baseball tournament going 80 miles an hour when the car completely lost power and a wrench came up. My husband barely coasted us to a shoulder. The car would not reset or restart unless it was in park. Happens twice. Took it for code read they said it is a throttle body issue but that instead of check engine light it shuts the whole car down until reset. Very scary on the interstate. Could have easily been in a bad collision.

Blower motor shorted out and melted the wiring harness going to the blower motor and started smoking and almost caught on fire. Took the vehicle in for repair and there is a recall to replace the blower motor. The dealership stated they will replace the blower motor per the recall but I am responsible for the melted wiring.
In 2022, around mileage of 67000, our SUV was climbing a steep road when it suddenly made a pop sound & went into limp mode with the wrench light showing and the engine sounding rough. It felt like no fuel was getting to the engine & the gas pedal was non-responsive. The RPMs didn't change when the gas pedal was pressed. The grade was so steep, we barely made it to the side of the road without rolling backwards into traffic behind us. After turning the engine off and sitting about 10 mins, we tried starting the engine again. The car seemed to have reset itself! It ran fine; the wrench light turned off, and the gas pedal was responsive again. (At the time, we were on vacation at the coast and had traveled from our home at about elevation 3500'. We had also recently had to buy gas from a small no name gas station, so we feared we may have gotten bad fuel). From there, we returned home without re-occurrence, and we used fuel cleaning additive to our Chevron fuel for the next 2 fill ups. Then, approximately 600 miles later on a flat grade, it happened again without the pop sound. We immediately went to our Ford dealer who found no error code but found our purge valve stuck open. They recommended we replace it, which we did, and we operated the vehicle for 2 years without re-occurrence and using only Chevron gas. Recently, it happened again! Luckily, we weren't on a steep grade this time or on the freeway, but if a car would have been behind us, we would have likely been rear ended, especially had we been on the freeway. Once again, we shut the engine off, and it reset with the wrench light disappearing, so no diagnostic code got thrown AGAIN! Based on many complaints, this appears to be a common problem. It's very dangerous as the car immediately losses power to a crawl no matter what speed you are traveling at the time. It seems to be the electronic throttle body in instances where the SUV can stay running, so a code can be obtained before it resets.
The contact owns a 2017 Ford Expedition. The contact stated while reversing at an undisclosed speed, the back over prevention camera failed to function as intended. The contact stated that the back over prevention camera displayed colorful lines but not the proper image. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or the dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was filed. The failure mileage was 36,830.
On [XXX], My 2017 Ford Expedition suddenly lost all brake fluid in the master cylinder, where it drained into the Brake Booster. We had no braking function whatsoever. I filled up with another quart of brake fluid, drained into brake booster as well. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer in Lagrange, GA, where the work was completed on 7/8/2024. I was preparing to drive my family home to FL when we noticed the issue. We had to stay an extra night in the hotel. Thank goodness we had not been on the road and were only leaving the hotel. There is already a recall for the same issue, with vehicles made through 1/31/2017. My vehicle, by VIN, was made on 2/3/2017 at the same plant. Ford is refusing to acknowledge the issue. Brake master cylinder rear seal failed and engine vacuum drew all fluid from reservoir into brake booster as vehicle idled in park. Both front and rear brakes were inoperable because one reservoir serves both systems and that reservoir was emptied by engine vacuum. Pedal went to floor with zero brake actuated. At highway speed this would result in a severe accident due to the rapid loss of fluid with no prior change in braking effort. Vehicle could only be slowed with parking brake. Ford dealer service department inspected and confirmed loss of fluid into booster. Brake warning light and low fluid message displayed as reservoir was drained by engine vacuum.
The backup camera works intermittently. When I put the vehicle in reverse, the rearview camera sometimes displays a blank image. There are several recalls pending for the same issue for later years. For example, Ford has a recall for 2018-2022 Ford Expeditions with Ford Reference Number 25S72 and another recall effecting 2021 - 2024 vehicles. [XXX] Help would be appreciated. Thanks. The contact owns a 2017 Ford Expedition. The contact stated while driving approximately 50 MPH, the transmission unexpectedly downshifted to first gear, causing the vehicle to abruptly slow down. The contact stated that after restarting the vehicle, the failure was corrected. The vehicle was driven to the local dealer who diagnosed the vehicle and determined that the transmission lead frame was faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 170,000.
This issue has happened multiple times, once on the highway the vehicle felt like it lost gear/ the engine completely cut off. multiple warning lights came on such as airbag, ABS, engine light. was eventually able to get to the shoulder and after multiple attempts it started back up, showed no warning lights. drove the rest of the way fine. another time that could have put other at risk is when driving in the city, the vehicle lost power and also lost the ability to stee. causing me to be standstill in the roadway. the vehicle started back up after two attempts. the vehicle has been to the local deal a total of 4 times with the last time requesting a through inspection of the grounds, as this seems like an electrical or mechanical issue the service manager requesting me "not to bring it back until it's broken" leaves me lost.
The contact owns a 2017 Ford Expedition. The contact stated that while his wife was driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle stalled. The wheels then seized, causing the vehicle to jerk. Additionally, the speedometer was inoperable while driving. The "Blind Spot System Fault" and "See Manual - Transmission" messages were displayed and the check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was able to be restarted. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who diagnosed that the molded leadframe needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was opened. The contact was informed that the failure was related to Customer Satisfaction Program: 19N01 (Transmission Molded Leadframe Extended Coverage); however, the VIN was not included. The failure mileage was approximately 120,000.
6 months ago FORD replaced my blower motor (ONLY) per the recall, it still only worked intermittently so on a return visit they diagnosed a need to replace their (Motorcraft) YH-1829 A/C Blower Motor Switch / RESISTOR AND the pigtail connector SINCE THE CONNECTION PINS HAD FUSED FROM OVERHEATING. THOSE were NOT covered by the recall notwithstanding 100's or more complaints to FORD. However, The Blower ONLY worked on high. ALWAYS on high. If the key was on, the HVAC ON/OFF was useless (It's LED would go off and on but not the blower.) Likewise speed (+) and (-) did nothing. EVERY OTHER FUNCTION/Button worked fine. Temperature could be regulated and Rear A/C could be activated just fine. Yesterday, $595 later, FORD has diagnosed the Climate Control Board (FL1Z-19980-K) in the dash. IT'S RELAY HAD OVERHEATING ISSUES. They did not replace the malfumnctioning Control Board because Part FL1Z-19980-K is on a nationwide backorder with no ETA. Oh, and when/if it does become available, FORD wants $758 to install (part, tax and labor). So, I have a irrepressible suspicion that the Control Board overheat failure is linked to the overheating/fused resistor, all stemming from the original Blower Motor overheat failure that FORD did agree to recall. But, NOW, the culprit is inside the dash and the circuit cannot be turned off. IF THE KEY IS ON SO IS THE CLIMATE CONTROL CIRCUIT WITH THE BLOWER ON HIGH 100% of my driving time. More fusing? More fire risk?
My vehicle is a 2017 Expedition that had the blower motor recall performed in October 2023. Prior to the recall being performed, we would often have burning smells coming from the blower, so it made sense that the recall was to fix a fire hazard with the blower motor. I observed burned terminals in the electrical connector and assumed they would be replaced as part of the recall. Any reasonable person would assume that burned electrical wires pose a fire hazard and a recall that is supposed to fix a fire hazard issue would replace the electrical connector. A few months after the recall was performed, we started having the exact same symptoms coming from the blower motor as we did before the recall, namely a burning smell and the blower motor operating intermittently. I contacted Ford about a problem with the recall repair and they stated they would have to diagnose it. Ford identified burned electrical terminals at the blower motor and a faulty motor controller. Ford then communicated to me that those items were not covered under the blower motor recall. I only then learned that the recall replaced only the blower motor and not the electrical connectors or controller. I was charged a $220 diagnostic fee, had I known those items were not part of the recall I would not have brought my vehicle in for diagnosis. I have three major concerns: 1. If the purpose of the blower motor recall was to prevent a fire hazard from the blower motor and related components, the recall has failed. 2. The original faulty blower motor caused damage to the blower controller and electrical connector. These components should have been replaced with the blower motor as part of the recall. It is absurd to think that Ford would install a new blower motor connected to damaged and burned wires. 3. The electrical connector and motor controller were not replaced during the recall service, but still pose a fire hazard as stated in the recall, those components should be replaced at no cost.
The contact owns a 2017 Ford Expedition. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the air condition stalled. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed and determined that the blower motor had melted the resister plug. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 170,000.
The contact owns a 2017 Ford Expedition. The contact stated while driving 60 MPH, the brake warning light illuminated. After parking the vehicle, the contact stated that the brake pedal was depressed to the floorboard upon restart the vehicle. Brake fluid was added to the vehicle; however, the failure returned soon after the brake fluid was added. Additional brake fluid was added to the vehicle and the vehicle was taken to the local dealer. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred to the contact to the NHTSA Hotline. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 152,000.
I am about to have the rear end rebuilt for the 2nd time since I bout the vehicle roughly 1 year ago, and am currently over 30th in line at my dealership to have a rear end rebuilt
The contact owns a 2017 Ford Expedition. The contact stated that while driving on several occasions at various speeds, there was a burning odor inside the cabin of the vehicle, and the air condition failed to operate as intended. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the wiring harness to the blower motor had melted and the pigtail on the wiring harness needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired but the failure recurred. The contact believed that the failure was associated with Manufacturer Recall: 22SF6. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 83,000.
I was in a motor vehicle accident where someone pulled out of a parking lot in front of me. I was doing about 45 at the time(which is the speed limit) on that road. I seen it coming but all I could do was try to veer right in order not to hit her door head on. Ours cars are totaled. My air bag never deployed out of the steering wheel however er I did see dust or smoke. This caused me to have chest pain and shoulder and neck pain. Which I am seeking doctors at this time.
