NHTSA Owner Complaint Log
This page lists owner-reported complaints filed with NHTSA for the 2022 Ford Expedition. Complaints are unverified consumer reports submitted to NHTSA and do not by themselves prove a defect or defect rate.
While driving the vehicle, the stereo system suddenly without warning started an unbearable loud and deafening noise. I was driving on a busy highway and was able to the the next exit. I had 2 other occupants in the vehicle. We had to exit the vehicle because the noise level from the speaker was painful and caused disorientation. I turned the vehicle off but the noise continued for at least 10 minutes then stopped. Myself and the 2 other occupants still have ear pain 24 hours later.
The contact owns a 2022 Ford Expedition. The contact stated while driving 40-80 MPH, there was an abnormal vibration in the vehicle. There was an abnormal humming sound coming from the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the wheels, drive shaft, and u-joint needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken to another local dealer, Bob Moore Ford (8948 S I-35 Service Rd., Oklahoma City, OK 73149); where it was diagnosed and determined that the tires and the rims needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and opened a case and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 400.

See attached document for complaint.
Upon starting vehicle, loud pop sound and then excruciatingly painful white noise throughout the sound system. No controls will work to turn audio down. Upon shutting vehicle off, painful white noise continued for another 10sec or more. Waited a few minutes tried again, same thing happened with sound. Unable to drive vehicle with sound this loud. Tried 5x to shut off vehicle and restart, white noise continued. Hours later, ears are still ringing the noise was so loud. No controls on the touch screen would work and even shutting off car, disconnecting all phones excruciating white noise continues.
Rear defrost coils have continually fallen off. Dealer fixed one in February of 2024. It fell off March 2024. They are both hanging there. Dealer won’t touch it - says rear window needs replacement. I’ve researched on ford expedition forum and many expeditions have a similar issue. Especially with dealer not covering it.
All of the Advanced Drivers Assistance Systems are not functional. Ford is aware of problem and the fix is continuing to be delayed--over 1 year now. Vehicle has been to dealership multiple times without solution.
On [XXX] the front section of the panoramic moonroof shattered after opening the drivers side passenger door and drivers door, the children were climbing into the backseat and I proceeded to open the drivers door after opening their door and the glass shattered. Thankfully nobody was injured. The car was towed to the Ford dealership and they after inspection found no reason for the malfunction. I have asked them today to reach out to Ford Customer Assistance as the estimated repair is $4,000. It was not reported to police or insurance at this time. There were no warning signs, nothing has fallen on the roof to my knowledge and the vehicle has 19,600 miles. The car is stored in a driveway safe of any falling debris or ice and we live in Michigan. Thank you. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6
The contact owns a 2022 Ford Expedition. The contact stated that the vehicle had collected snow and while opening the trunk, the spoiler fractured. The vehicle was taken to an Auto Body shop, where it was determined that the spoiler needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. An unknown dealer was contacted, and a voicemail message was left. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 19,000.

APPROXIMATELY 15 - 20 MINUTES PRIOR TO INCIDENT, VEHICLES CRUISE CONTROL DISENGAGED WITHOUT REASON WHILE DRIVING @ 60 MPH ON PARKWAY. SYSTEM RE ENGAGED WITHOUT FURTHER ISSUE ON PARKWAY. THERE WAS NO DISPLAYED WARNING LIGHTS OR MESSAGES PRIOR TO INCIDENT INCIDENT REPORT FILED WITH FORD CORPORATE MOTOR CO. CASE # .
In December of 2023 (not even one full year after purchasing my brand new Ford Expedition) I used the FOB to remotely open the trunk on my 2022 Ford Expedition. Upon doing so, I heard popping and cracking sounds. I didn't see any damage, so I didn't think anything of it until I drove on the interstate and immediately heard a violent slapping noise coming from the back of my vehicle. I took the truck to the dealership (where I purchased my vehicle). They inspected the vehicle and said that the spoiler is misaligned and loose - causing the sound and also resulting in a dent on the roof of the vehicle. The dealership said that Ford would not cover the repair under their FULL BUMPER TO BUMPER WARRANTY. Three other people with new Ford Expeditions at my dealership have experienced this exact issue. (Also a simple Google search of "Ford spoiler issue" will demonstrate that many others have experienced this issue.) I am extremely nervous to drive my vehicle anywhere as it sounds and feels like the spoiler is going to fly off of the vehicle especially when I drive on the interstate. This is a HUGE safety issue. The spoiler is loose and could fly off on the highway and cause an accident or hit another vehicle. NHTSA is aware of this issue and submitted an SSM to Ford [XXX] ), but Ford will not recall or cover repairs to their vehicles that have a defect and pose a safety risk. This needs to be immediately rectified before someone is seriously hurt. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
The contact owns a 2022 Ford Expedition. The contact stated that while her husband was having a light bulb replaced, the dealer became aware that the electrical wiring was damaged due to rodents chewing on the wiring insulation. The vehicle was repaired but the failure persisted. There was no warning light illuminated. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 22,489.
A-pillar/hinge integrity engineering concern. While opening my door in a parking lot, the wind caught the door before I could catch the door. The door met the hinge stop and flexed enough for the edge of the door panel to contact a bolt on the A-pillar door hinge assembly, causing a small crease in the aluminum door panel. My concern is that in 30 years of driving, I have had a door caught be wind before but never had damage to the vehicle. This was not a strong wind, just enough to catch the door. The A-pillar is now flexed slightly such that the door panel gap is larger and seems related to the actual A-pillar flex, not a hinge failure. Vehicle testing of the 22 Ford Expedition has show some poor performance in the A-pillar area and I am concerned that this door issue is due to poor engineering and strength of the A-pillar. I have had the vehicle inspected at the Ford dealership and a customer service complain with Ford is in process. I do not feel this issue can be attributed to user error or considered "accidental" but is due to structural/safety deficiency of the A-pillar structure. The contact owns a 2022 Ford Expedition. The contact stated while driving approximately 40 MPH, the instrument panel went black. The horn failed to be as loud as designed. The contact also stated that while driving approximately 45 MPH and making a left turn, the turn signal failed to activate. The contact stated that the instrument panel was black during the failure. The contact stated that before the failure, the Bluetooth Sync system had failed, and the contact believed that was when the failures started. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The instrument panel and the touch control panel screen were replaced. The contact stated that after the repairs were completed, the back over prevention alarm was not as loud as before. The vehicle had not been taken to the dealer to be diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 25,000.
The contact owns a 2022 Ford Expedition. The contact stated that on several occasions after his wife had reversed and then shifted to drive, the vehicle made a clunking sound and failed to accelerate as intended for several seconds. On another occasion, while stopped at a stop sign, the accelerator pedal was depressed; however, the vehicle failed to accelerate as intended for several seconds. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the transmission software needed to be updated. The vehicle was repaired; however, on several occasions, while driving at undisclosed speeds, the contact experienced a failure with an abnormal clunking sound coming from the front of the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 30,000.
My speakers / sound system made a loud sound and minutes later my speakers were explosively loud. I couldn’t get the noise to stop. It was a static / gunfire at the highest volume. I turned my car in and off and couldn’t get it to turn off. It blew my ear drums out. Ultimately had to pull the amplifier fuse to get it to turn off. We have not had it inspected yet. We are taking it to the dealership tomorrow although I have heard of many issues of other owners having the same speaker problem. The only thing that happened before this incident. I thought it sounded like something fell inside my door or dash. I was in park when that happened and had just gotten into my car. Not five minutes later, the speakers blared. Thank god my kids were not in the car this time but I have an infant and he is in my car daily. I couldn’t focus on driving. I almost crashed my car. I had to pull over on a dangerous road just to get away from the sound
Summary of Safety Issues with Chicco Car Seat 1.) Magnetic Chest Clip Disassembly (October 2023) • At [XXX] old, my daughter disassembled the magnetic chest clip while seated in the car. • She placed a small part in her mouth, creating a choking hazard. • I was stranded until a replacement car seat could be brought. • I replaced the clip with a plastic version Chicco provided, but the original design posed a serious and unacceptable safety risk. 2.Child Unlocking Base Mechanism (April 2025) • My daughter is able to unlatch the seat from its base while rear-facing. • She does this repeatedly, even after being re-secured. • Chicco only sent a “lever lock” cover despite my request for a full replacement, which was ignored. • This flaw allows a toddler to disengage the seat mid-drive, rendering the product unsafe and unusable. 3.) Cup Holder Suffocation Hazard (June 2025) • My daughter easily removes the silicone cup holders. • On one occasion, she placed one over her mouth and nose, creating suction and restricting her breathing. • I have since removed the cup holders entirely, though this alters the seat’s intended use. • This presents a clear suffocation hazard. 4.) Excessive Rattling When Not in Use (Ongoing) • When installed rear-facing and unoccupied, the seat rattles loudly during travel. • The noise is so disruptive I have rotated the seat forward-facing at times to reduce it. • While less severe than the other hazards, this reflects poor product integrity and contributes to ongoing safety concerns. While the vehicle is in 2 wheel high, it operates as all the hubs are locked or there is a severe transmission issue. On turns which causes safety issues when trying to navigate corners. My wife hit a curb because of the issue. It causes a severe drag and terrible sound. It also has extremely rough shifting. We had a 2019 Navigator with the same drivetrain that had issues that eventually had to have the motor replaced with less than 10,000 miles.
vehicle has been shifting into neutral at speeds for 65 mph or more , it is constantly locking and unlocking itself when turned off. It malfuctiins during auto pilot asst( doesnt read the hands even though they are on the wheel) Today it wouldn't turned on. when I pressed the brake to turn it on, it said that the steering system fails and that the braking system failed and the screen powered down to save battery. when pressed the brake shook and then locked down. even if left on this vehicle turns off after idling for more than 10 minutes. so that makes no sense. It wouldn't even attempt to turn over.
Bought car new last year. Current 15,000 miles. On Saturday, September 2, I turned the ignition off and then opened the drivers door. Suddenly there was a horrendous loud static noise coming from I assume the radio speakers. It was deafening, and lasted about 3 seconds. I have read about other Ford trucks having this problem, but it is the first time for me. I will take it to my Ford dealer tomorrow morning. Apparently there is a quick program update to correct the issue. If this happened while I was driving, it may have caused an accident.
Unintended acceleration just after engaging the transmission in forward motion. This has happened four (4) times since new.
The audio system of my Expedition has twice made max volume level popping sounds in the dash. It sounded as if fireworks were going off in my car. I turned my car off both times. One time it stopped when turning the car off, the other time I turned the car off and opened and closed the doors multiple times as that usually kills the power to the vehicle bit it continued loudly popping. The popping could be heard from outside of the vehicle it was so loud. It did this for about 15 minutes before we finally got it to stop. I have this on video amd would be happy to send it but it will not let me download it.
Transmission shifted into neutral while driving at highway speed
While driving with cruise control set at 65mph the vehicle will maintain set speed for a undetermined amount of time at which point the vehicle cruise will jump to a very high setting of 88mph....forcing me to shut the system down...this happens frequently and I can't determine what sets it off. Ford Dealer can't find anything wrong . Also the lane assist will constantly warn of not holding the wheel or lane in fractions forcing me to shake the steering wheel to let the system know I'm holding the wheel.
Alternator failed suddenly. Caused loss of power to all components while driving.
The contact owns a 2022 Ford Expedition. The contact stated that while her husband was driving at an undisclosed speed and trying to activate the cruise control, the vehicle inadvertently lost motive power. The driver was able to pull over the side of the road, but the vehicle failed to restart. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact stated that roadside assistance arrived, and it was difficult getting the vehicle onto the tow truck. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, who diagnosed a failure with the fuel pump module and determined that the battery needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but provided no assistance. The failure mileage was 7,250.
Since purchasing this vehicle in January of 2023, it has been to the dealer three times to repair a failed blind spot monitoring system and rear cross traffic alert system due to corroded pins in the connectors of the sensors. According to the dealer, this is due to the connector utilizing only four of eight pins which leaves four pins unused and open to corrosion. On the third trip in, the dealer applied, "super glue" to try and prevent any future corrosion. While there was not a specific accident related to this, I do believe this has the potential to cause issues in the future if not properly addressed by Ford. See attached pdf from dealer for additional supporting information.
My Expedition has adaptive cruise control. I was driving on the interstate at around 65 mph with the adaptive cruise set. I was raining, so I set it to max range. It worked fine for the first few minutes of rain. As cars started to slow down, mine sped up and put me in an extremis situation where I had to forcibly apply the brakes. It was following the car in front of mine fine at around 55 mph, but then sped up despite the car getting closer as if there wasn't a car there. Only after I applied the brakes did I start getting an error that adaptive cruise and collision assist were not working due to a sensor being blocked. I've driven in rain many times and have never had this error. As far as I can tell the forward sensor failed due to moisture and instead of the adaptive cruise turning off, it actually caused the vehicle to accelerate since cruise was set to 65 mph. Sensor failed in a 5 minute rain storm. Software design does not fail safe, but rather the opposite.
The rear glass busted after being inside the carport. Shattered. You could hear the glass sizzling when I found it. I have images of this. My concern is what this would have happened had my kids been in the car and the vehicle in motion.
For the fourth time our brand new Ford Expedition has had a issue with the SYNC radio B&O Sound system. It initially started out where the 15.5 inch screen locked up and no radio, Bluetooth would work and couldn’t even control climate. The dealer got to see this first hand and had no interest in investigating. Now the last three times has been a HORRIFYING pop and extremely loud static and popping like fire works inside the car. Two of the three times luckily my wife wasn’t driving. The most recent time this happened as we were driving down the road and THANKFULLY no car was in the opposite lane as it caused me to jump and swerve because i though we had been hit. This could have ended very badly under the wrong timing and especially with my 4 year old and infant in the car which they also started screaming because it was ear piercing. After a little investigation I have come to see this is no new issue with the Ford Sync B&O sound system. Some people have stated the dealers complimentary changed the amplifiers and seemed to have solved the problem. Sadly the two dealers in my area will not even look into it unless the problem is currently occurring. The bad part is that the next time it does occur could be detrimental to the life of my wife and kids!
The contact owns a 2022 Ford Expedition. The contact stated that when the vehicle was started in the morning and the air conditioning system was activated, there was a mildew odor inside the vehicle. The contact stated that while driving the odor dissipated. The contact stated that water was accumulating in the passenger’s side wheel well and could cause a short circuit due to the electrical wires and connectors underneath the carpet. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer however, the failure could not be duplicated. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The contact researched online and related the failure TSB Number: 20-2170 Water Leaking on Right Front Floor During Or After A/C Use (Visibility). The failure mileage was approximately 14,000.
Bought [XXX] at Corwin Ford Reno Nevada. April 2023 vehicle had sporadic transmission issues - slipping randomly. Took it in and explained the issue. Told there’s no transmission person. Nothing was done and told to continue to drive it. [XXX] Vehicle ended up going into reverse on its own at a stop light. Took the car in and given the same story, were completely back logged and could not get the car in. Car also had an active recall on it, never was looked at because they stated back logged until mid 2024 and couldn’t schedule an appointment. Asked for a loaner vehicle, told that’s not available anymore. May 2024 went into reverse again on its own. Called to get it in, stated they could not make any appointments at that time. October 2024 engine intermittently began revving on its own up to 4000RPM. Told no transmission mechanic was available. We were told there’s no more loaner program, transmission mechanic is 3 months out and there’s nothing that can be done at this time. Asked us if we wanted to pay $2500 for preventative maintenance and fluid top off on the vehicle though. [XXX] the rear AC went out on the vehicle also. There is also a new recall on the vehicle for the fuel pump and a loss of fuel pressure. These are all a massive safety concern for our entire family (4 kids + 2 adults) and for the general public. Ford is refusing to take responsibility for these issues and are making it very difficult for us to work with. We have a [XXX] who has [XXX] and we need a reliable vehicle to transport him to and from doctors appointments. The vehicle has a full warranty on it also. Since purchase in 2022, the vehicle has experienced repeated failures of multiple safety systems. These include frequent warnings that “Pre-Collision Assist is Not Available,” repeated failures of Blind Spot Detection with Cross Traffic Alert, Tire Pressure Monitoring warnings, and messages to “Check 12-Volt Battery.” These system malfunctions occur intermittently and unpredictably, creating unsafe driving conditions. In addition to the warning messages, the rear liftgate has failed to latch properly and on at least one occasion opened while the vehicle was in motion. This poses a serious hazard to vehicle occupants and to other drivers on the road. The safety risk is significant because these systems are designed to prevent or mitigate crashes. Their failure leaves the driver without critical safety features, and the trunk latch defect could cause loss of cargo or injury. These problems have been ongoing for years and have not been permanently corrected despite software updates and recall activity. The dealer has acknowledged the symptoms and advised the vehicle was unsafe to drive.
Rear cabin lights do not come on when doors are opened. When manually turned on, at times, rear cabin lights will turn on and not be able to be turned off. This created a hazard while driving at night/early morning. We had to cover interior lighting to be able to drive safely. I feel this is a product issue. Dealer said it’s normal working order.
On 2/20/23 my spouse was driving northbound around 9:30 am. When she heard what she describes as a gun shot. She immediately called me and I told her to pull over to the closest and safest spot. She explained that it sounded like the glass sunroof exploded. She climbed up to find that was the case. There was a huge gaping hole right in the center of the sunroof. We immediately took the 2022 Expedition to a Ford dealership close by. The dealership stated that Ford has not issued a bulletin or recall and because of that could not cover the repair under warranty. They stated that the damage indicates that an object hit the glass. I feel that this could not be correct since the glass is facing outward and the manner of which the glass shattered. Further I searched the internet and found that there have been several others dealing with the same issue. I came here hoping that by submitting this complaint Ford owns up to the issues that their consumers are having. Thank you, [XXX] INFORMATION Redacted PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).
I had my three young children in the car and was driving a brand new 2022 Ford Expedition when I heard a loud sound and my sunroof completely shattered, causing shards of glass to fall on me and my 3 children, as well as almost causing me to get into an accident due to the shock of the incident.
The contact owns a 2022 Ford Expedition. The contact stated while driving at approximately 50 MPH, there was a high pitch noise emanating from underneath the vehicle. Additionally, the vehicle was shaking abnormally. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that an unknown software program needed to be updated. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 1,000.
Transmission experiencing hard shifting when changing gears. New 2022 with 319 miles
On start-up, vehicle had an ear-piercing noise coming through all speakers. All of the dashboard screens were black, buttons were not responsive, but the vehicle would still move. Even after getting the vehicle to turn off, the sound persisted. I had to manually disconnect the battery to get it to stop. I have video of the incident if helpful. Ford service had no idea how to handle.
The contact owns 2022 Chevrolet Expedition. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds and activating the turn signals, the turn signals would temporarily blink excessively fast, which indicated a turn signal failure. The vehicle was taken to an unknown local dealer, who was unable to duplicate the failure. No service was performed. Additionally, the contact stated that while the adaptive cruise control mode was activated, the vehicle accelerated unintendedly and nearly hit a pedestrian. The contact stated that he had not engaged the Resume button at the time of the failure. The contact also stated that while reversing, the rearview camera was inoperable. The cause of the failures were not determined. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was contacted, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was 6,000.
We started to notice some body issues -rear side fenders popping out, the front grill popping out,, the inside screen would go blank, fuel tank lid pops open. As if this was not enough - we then encountered more issues - sunroof was falling on our heads, the step up railing is falling apart....WAIT- there's more - paint coming off the hood...And to top it all off - there is a cracking noise thru the inside. We cannot control the noise. We lose all function and use of controls (radio, climate, etc.).
I just had the same issue described in the forum listed below. Extremely loud max volume screeching static through the speakers. Tried turning the car off and on several times, tried turning the radio off, tried switching to Serius xm radio, nothing would make it stop and it was completely unsafe to drive it like that. It was too loud to hear anything else over it and it was so jarring. I now have a headache and i’m nervous to drive it for fear of it happening again. My husband had to disconnect the battery to get it to stop. I have a video but it doesn’t seem like I can upload it here, only pics. https://www.f150gen14.com/forum/threads/extremely-loud-electrical-pop-followed-by-loud-static.9591/page-4
Trailer brake controller is not engaging trailer brakes when the brake pedal is pressed. The trailer brakes will engage when manually squeezing the controller. Exact same symptoms as my 2021 f150 which had the recall. This is a September build, dealer service is telling me there is nothing wrong, it all checks out.
General: While driving this rental vehicle over the span of three days, I noticed and confirmed over a dozen times that the vehicle's speed control would dramatically increase with NO driver input or actions. Specific: The vehicle's cruise control would be on and active, set at various speeds; 55, 60, 65, 70, 75 (long, straight road with varying speed limits). In different circumstances (sometimes when being overtaken by another vehicle, or cresting a hill or when beginning to climb a hill), the speed control, while set would immediately, with no driver input other than light steering INCREASE to 15-30 mph above the speed at which the cruise control was set. Over the period of three days of rental I was able to verify this behavior many times and I was able to capture a video that shows the speed set increase from 65 mph to 90 mph immediately, and the vehicle would begin aggressive acceleration. I have a clear video of the steering wheel and gauge cluster that I cannot attach to this report, but will email upon request. In the video, the malfunction is at the 13 second mark. In this video, the speed control setting increased from 65mph immediately to 90mph and the vehicle started accelerating. Switching the speed control off, or tapping the brake ceased the acceleration, as expected. Vehicle was reported to National car rental and an attempt was made to report it to Ford. Because it was a rental, I am unaware of any corrective action or inspection that may have, or may take place.
The contact owns a 2022 Ford Expedition. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 45 MPH, a vehicle that was making a U-turn crashed into the rear passenger side door and that after the impact, all of the air bags failed to deploy. The contact's son, who was seated in the front passenger seat, had his seatbelt retractor failed to lock as a result he lunged forward from the impact and causing him to hit his chest against the instrument panel. Additionally, the contact stated that her other son was seated in the rear passenger seat and that after the impact, his seat belt was unlatched inadvertently and hit the window. No warning lights were illuminated. A police report was filed. The contact stated that her son, who was seated in the front passenger seat required medical attention and was taken to the hospital for a CT of his sternum and that all other passengers had whiplash. The vehicle has not been diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was opened and the contact was advised to file a complaint with the NHTSA Hotline. The approximate failure mileage was 94,000.
Loud booming sound followed by loud crackling coming from speakers. Thought I was in an accident and slammed on the brakes. No one was behind me, but if there was, the person may not have been able to stop. Happened yesterday 10/2/2022 at Huber farms in Indiana at slow speed. Also happened on 9/12/2022 when stopped. Went to Bloomington Indiana community ford while it was still crackling. A service department staff came and did something and the crackling finally stopped. They could not diagnose the problem and returned the car to me on 9/15/2022.
trailer brake system fault - it is likely the trailer brake system will not function when I hook up a trailer
I was driving in the express lane NB I-15 in Utah. I was at highway speeds with no one around me. I had the visor that closed on my sunroof when all of a sudden I hear a loud explosion, it scared me and I immediately slowed and pulled off the road. I first thought maybe it was a tire, I checked and all were intact, then I saw glass and looked up on my roof and noticed that the sunroof was completely blown out. I apparently lost my Panoramic portion of my sunroof, not the part that actually opens, the fixed portion. The glass is angled out like a slope up a mountain. I am lucky the visor was closed as it minimized the glass inside the vehicle and onto my kids. I just bought this vehicle from Ford on a special order and took possession of it 3-4 weeks ago. This was on a Sunday afternoon 8/21. I took it straight to the dealer Monday morning 8/22, they currently still have the vehicle. I have had no updates from the dealer. No warning lamps/lights before or after the incident.
While I was driving 65mph on the interstate with my three children in car seats in the middle row we heard a loud explosion and the front panel of the panoramic sunroof glass covered the inside of my vehicle, all of myself and my three toddlers. It was a nice sunny day. No trees or cars were around us. Shards of glass were in all of our hair, car seats, stroller and everywhere else in the car.
The contact owns a 2022 Ford Expedition. The contact stated while driving approximately 15 MPH, she heard an abnormally loud sound coming from the vehicle. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact was able to park on the side of the road and safely exited the vehicle. The vehicle was not drivable. The contact towed the vehicle to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed with needing a hose from the radiator to the transmission to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 6,000.
