MANUAL TRANSMISSION LOCKED UP WHILE DRIVING AT 65 MPH ON HIGHWAY. TT CONSUMER STATED THERE WOULD BE A CONTINOUS NOISE COMING FROM THE TRASMISSION, BUT WAS ADVISED BY DELAER THAT THIS IS NORMAL, AFTER NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS, THE VEHICLE'S TRANSMISSION 5TH GEAR WAS OVERHAULED.*JB

CHECK ENGINE LIGHT LUMINATES CONSTANTLY. *SD
THE PAINT ON THE TOP OF THE ROOF AND THE HOOD HAS BEEN FLAKING OFF SINCE 1995. IT HAS BECOME MORE NOTIEABLE IN THE LAST COUPLE OF YEARS. THIS CAR HAS BEEN KEPT IN THE GARAGE AND SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING THIS PROBLEM. I TALKED TO THE FORD BODY SHOP IN SAN ANTONIO THAT IS AFFILIATED WITH THE ORIGINAL DEALER- NORTHSIDE FORD IN 1995 BUT THEY SAID THAT THE PAINT WAS NOT COVERED UNDER ANY WARRANTY'S. THE ONLY WAY THAT I HAVE DISCOVERED THAT I MAY HAVE SOME RECOURSE, IS THROUGH A RECENT ISSUE OF "CONCUMER REPORTS" - OCT '99 ISSUE. I WOULD APPRECIATE ANY HELP OR DOCUMENT THAT YOU COULD PROVIDE IN THIS MATTER.

WHILE TRAVELING NORTHBOUND ON I-10 NEAR BLACK CANYON CITY, AZ, THE TREAD ON THE RIGHT REAR TIRE SEPARATED, CAUSING THE DRIVER TO LOSE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE ROLLED. WEATHER CONDITIONS WERE CLEAR, TRAFFIC WAS LIGHT, AND THERE WERE NO "UNUSUAL CIRCUMSTANCES". NO CITATIONS WERE ISSUED FOR ANY FAULT ON THE DRIVER'S PART. THE DRIVER WAS THROWN FREE OF THE VEHICLE. I REMAINED PARTIALLY IN THE VEHICLE AND PARTIALLY PINNED UNDER THE VEHICLE. THE DRIVER SUFFERED A FRACTURED PELVIS. MY INJURIES WERE EXTENSIVE; THE MOST SERIOUS AND DEBILITATING WAS A CLOSED HEAD INJURY. PLEASE CONTACT ME FOR ADDITIONAL DETAIL. I WOULD VERY MUCH LIKE TO PARTICIPATE IN THE INVESTIGATION AND ANY ACTION THAT IS TAKEN TO RECTIFY THIS LONG STANDING PRODUCT DEFECT. UPON DRIVING DOWN MOUNTAIN ROAD, BRAKE PEDAL SOFT AND BEGAN TO DESCEND UPON APPLICATION. BRAKES OVERHEATED W/DRIVER PULLING OFF ROAD. PLEASE DESCRIBE DETAILS.
JUST A FEW MORE DATA POINTS FOR THE FIRESTONE INVESTIGATION; TWO OF THE FIRESTONE ATX TIRES THAT CAME AS ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT ON MY 1991 FORD EXPLORER EXPERIENCED TREAD SEPARATION IN MID 1995, CAUSING BODY DAMAGE BUT NO ACCIDENT OR INJURY. WE TOOK THE TREAD FROM ONE TO A LOCAL FIRESTONE DEALER, WHO CLAIMED IT WAS "ROAD HAZARD DAMAGE" AND THAT HE COULDN'T HELP US. THE TIRES WERE ALWAYS INFLATED TO THE PSI RECOMMENDED ON THE SIDEWALL; THEY WERE NOT UNDERINFLATED. *AK (DOT NUMBER: UNKNOWN TIRESIZE: P235/75R15)

ABS BRAKE LIGHT CAME ON, DUE TO LOST OF BRAKE FLUID FROM THE MASTER CYLINDER, RESULTING IN LONG STOPPING DISTANCE. TT
CONSUMER WIFE WAS DRIVING AT NORMAL SPEED WENT TO STOP THE BRAKES WENT TO THE FLOOR BRAKE TO AVOID HITTING OTHER CAR SHE HIT OVERPASS SUPPORT TRUCK WAS TOTALED.
PE00-020 ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT WITH FIRESTONE RADIAL AT . 3 OUT OF 4 TIRES WERE PLUGGED WITHIN 1 YEAR AND AT APPROXIMATELY 45,000 MILES , CONSUMER WAS DRIVING AT 55 MPH WHEN LEFT REAR TIRE BLEWOUT UNEXPECTEDLY. ALL TIRES HAD PLENTY OF TREAD, AND LOOKED LIKE NEW.*AK FIRESTONE DEALER INDICATED THAT IT IS NOT THEIR FAULT. *YH
