1998 EXPLORER CAUGHT ON FIRE TO A DEFECT WITH THE VEHICLE. *TS THE CONSUMER RECEIVED A RECALL REGARDING A POSSIBLE PROBLEM WITH THE SPEED CONTROL SWITCH, WHICH COULD CAUSE A FIRE. *JB
1998 FORD EXPLORER SPORT WITH TIRES THAT WERE RECALLED **CC THE CONSUMER STATED SHE WAS DENIED NEW TIRES. THE TIRES THAT ARE ON THE VEHICLE WERE RECALLED. *JB
WHEN A LOAD IS PLACED IN THE CARGO AREA THE REAR END SAGS TERRIBLY. IN ADDITION, WHILE DRIVING 25 MPH REAR AXLE JUMPS/HOPS, MAKING IT VERY DIFFICULT TO CONTROL VEHICLE. *AK

WHILE DRIVING 50 TO 60 MPH VEHICLE HIT WATER PUDDLE WHICH CAUSED VEHICLE TO FLIP AND ROLL ON ITS SIDE. *AK
SEAT BELTS CONTINUALLY GET STUCK IN THE DOOR DUE TO DESIGN.
WHEN ACCELERATING VEHICLE WILL STALL, CAUSING THE ENGINE TO LOSE POWER FOR APPROXIMATELY 10-30 SECONDS, WHICH COULD RESULT IN AN ACCIDENT. DEALER CLAIMS HAS NO REMEDY FOR DEFECT. *AK
VEHICLE HAS SEVERE HESITATION, AND ENGINE MISSES WHICH COULD RESULT IN AN ACCIDENT. *AK
GOING DOWN A STEEP HILL AT A VERY LOW SPEED ABOUT 5 MPH ,THE IDLING SPEED WILL OVERCOME THE COMPRESSOR IN ENGINE. TOTALLY DEPENDENT ON BRAKES, CAUSES THE BRAKES TO OVERHEAT AND RESULTS IN BRAKES FADING. DANGEROUS SITUTION. *AK
TRANFER CASE STILL NOT SWITCH OUT OF 4-WHEEL LOW. FORDS'S REMEDY: TURN IGNITION TO ON W/O STARTING, PUT TRANSMISSION INTO NEUTRAL, TURN OFF IGNITION, PUT TRANSMISSION BACK INTO PARK. HAD 4X4 SOLINOID REPLACED. PROBLEM STILL EXISTS. DEALER TOLD ME THEY HAVE HAD SEVERAL BAD SOLINOID COME IN TO BE REPLACED.

WHEN VEHICLE IS IN MOTION, A LOUD SQUEALING NOISE EMITS FROM THE FRONT HUBS. FORD HAS REPLACED THE SEALS TWICE AND SAYS THERE IS NOTHING ELSE THEY CAN DO. THE FORD DEALERSHIP SAYS THE RECEIVE SEVERAL COMPLAINTS A DAY ON THIS PROBLEM. EACH TIME I SEE A 98 EXPLORER COMING DOWN THE STREET, I LISTEN AND IT SEEMS ALL OF THEM HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM.
