POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT LIGHT CAME ON. POWER STEERING WENT OUT COMPLETELY. VEHICLE HAS LESS THAN 20,000 MILES ON IT.
I WAS PULLING OUT OF MY DRIVE WAY TO LEAVE MY HOUSE AND NOTICED A GRINDING SOUND COMING FROM THE FRONT END, IT WAS VERY LOUD, AND CAUSED ME TO HAVE LOSS OF CONTROL OVER THE CARS STEERING; ESPECIALLY WHEN TURNING WHEEL LEFT AND RIGHT AT LOWER SPEEDS AND ON SHARP TURNS. (THE WHEELS DO NOT STRAIGHTEN OUT OR RETURN TO CENTER WHEN EXITING A TURN AND WILL THEN OVER COMPENSATE AND VEER TO THE RIGHT AFTER HAVING TO MANUALLY TURN THE WHEEL BACK.

WHEN I WENT TO TURN OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY I NOTICED THE STEERING GOT REALLY HARD TO TURN. TURNING AT CORNERS THE STEERING IS HARD AND OCCASIONALLY PULLS BACK/JERKS.
WAS DRIVING UP A HILL GOING AROUND CORNER AND STEERING FAILED NEARLY CAUSING AN ACCIDENT . THERE WAS NO WARNING AND THE STEERING JERKED TO THE LEFT IN A RIGHT HAND TURN. WAS BARELY ABLE TO CONTROL VEHICLE . I AM A FAIRLY MUSCULAR PERSON AND IT TOOK EVERYTHING TO CONTROL THE VEHICLE. WAS BARELY ABLE TO GET VEHICLE HOME LUCKILY I WAS ONLY A COUPLE MILES FROM HOME. AN AVERAGE PERSON WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN ABLE TO CONTROL THE VEHICLE AND AN ACCIDENT WOULD LIKELY HAPPEN . UNDER RESEARCH WITH FORD WITH ELECTRONIC STEERING THIS IS HAPPENING REGULARLY AND ACCIDENTS ARE HAPPENING.THERE IS NO WARNING AND THE STEERING WHEEL GETS JERKED TO ONE SIDE OR THE OTHER WITH VERY LITTLE CONTROL ON THE VEHICLE.THE VEHICLE I WAS DRIVING WAS MOVING WHEN THIS OCCURRED.
THE DRIVERS SIDE FRONT SEAT BELT IS NOT CATCHING. THE DEALERSHIP HAD TO REPLACE THE FEMALE PORTION FOR IT TO WORK PROPERLY.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT 45 MPH, THE STEERING WHEEL CEASED AS THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKING SYSTEM, STEERING ASSIST FAILURE, AND THE SERVICE ADVANCED TRACK WARNING MESSAGES APPEARED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE CONTACT PULLED OVER AND RESTARTED THE VEHICLE HOWEVER, THE FAILURE PERSISTED. DUE TO THE FAILURE, THE CONTACT HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO A RELATIVE'S HOUSE. THE CONTACT SPOKE TO CECIL ATKISSION FORD LINCOLN (2700 VETERANS BLVD, DEL RIO, TX 78840) WHERE SHE WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS ON THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS THEN NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND WAS GIVEN THE SAME INFORMATION AS THE DEALER. THE CONTACT WAS THEN REFERRED TO NHTSA FOR ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE HAD YET TO BE REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 120,000.
DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD, ALL MY TRACTION CONTROL LIGHTS CAME ON AND MY STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP. LUCKILY I WAS AT LOW SPEED AND WAS ABLE TO STOP SAFELY. I CALLED LOCAL FORD DEALER THAT TOLD ME IT WAS NOT A RECALL.
I WAS TRAVELLING ROUGHLY 30-35 MPH ON A COUNTRY ROAD (THAT WAS DRY AND CLEAR IN THE MIDDLE OF THE AFTERNOON) WHEN I SUDDENLY LOST CONTROL OF MY VEHICLE. IT FELT LIKE THE REAR END WAS FISHTAILING ALL OVER THE PLACE. I DID NOT HEAR ANYTHING BREAK, BUT I COULD HEAR MY TIRES SQUEALING. I WAS ABLE TO REGAIN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE BEFORE GOING INTO THE DITCH AND CAME TO A STOP ON THE RIGHT HAND SHOULDER. I EXITED MY VEHICLE, SAW THE SKID MARKS BEHIND ME ON THE ROAD AND STARTED LOOKING THE VEHICLE OVER WHEN I DISCOVERED THAT THE RIGHT REAR TIRE WAS PHYSICALLY POINTING OUT TO THE RIGHT. I THEN CHECKED UNDER THE BODY AND FOUND THAT THE RIGHT REAR SUSPENSION TOE LINK COMPLETELY SNAPPED IN TWO. I LEARNED AFTER TAKING IT TO A LOCAL DEALERSHIP THAT ON 10/22/18 THIS VEHICLE HAD ITS REAR SUSPENSION TOE LINKS REPLACED PER A RECALL (17G01), BUT THE REPLACEMENT PARTS FAILED AND THE MANUFACTURER (FORD) WILL NOT REPLACE THEM AGAIN PER A PHONE CONVERSATION THAT TOOK PLACE WITH FORD CUSTOMER CARE ON 8/11/20.
AN ERROR COMES ON THE DASH THAT SAYS STEERING FAILURE PULLOVER SAFELY. THE WHOLE POWER STEERING IS ELECTRIC AND FORD HAS HAD THIS PROBLEM BEFORE

THE CONTACT DROVE THE VEHICLE TO ALL AMERICAN FORD IN POINT PLEASANT (3306 BRIDGE AVE, POINT PLEASANT, NJ 08742) WHERE HE LEFT THE VEHICLE THERE TO BE INSPECTED AND REPAIRED. THE CONTACT WAS LATER INFORMED THAT HIS STEERING RACK MODULE WAS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT REACHED OUT TO THE MANUFACTURER AND WAS GIVEN A CASE NUMBER. THE MANUFACTURER INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THEY WOULD CALL HIM BACK. THE CONTACT HAD YET TO HEAR BACK FROM THE MANUFACTURER. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 50,000.

THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED AS OF YET. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 111,000.

UPON INVESTIGATION, THE CONTACT ASSOCIATED THE FAILURE WITH NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V286000 (STEERING), HOWEVER THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN INFORMED OF FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 127,300.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 FORD EXPLORER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE STEERING COLUMN CEASED WHILE DRIVING 55-70 MPH CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO SWAY TO THE LEFT AND TO THE RIGHT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE ATTEMPTING TO TURN THE VEHICLE TO THE LEFT OR TO THE RIGHT, THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL GRINDING SOUND COMING FROM THE STEERING COLUMN. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 77,000.
VEHICLE STARTED TO MAKE A GRINDING NOISE WHEN WE TURNED THE STEERING WHEEL. SO WE TOOK IT TO THE SHOP WHERE WE BOUGHT THE VEHICLE. THEY DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM SAYING IT WAS THE ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING RACK AND PINION. THE SHOP DID NOT WANT US TO DRIVE VEHICLE HOME DUE TO BEING UNSAFE TO DRIVE. VEHICLE HAS UNDER 80K MILES.
7/20/2020 and before, dashboard light came on with message "check charging system" then steering wheel locked up, turned off engine, waited 2-3 seconds, turned back on and its okay. Kept doing this once in a while, bought new battery, message kept coming on. 07/28/2021 message came on saying "something is draining the juice out of battery". This message came on after we bought a new battery. Told Ford company when getting oil change, they said my battery is charged okay. They don't know whats causing it.

WELCH FORD LOCATED AT: 4920 INDEPENDENCE BLVD, HARDEEVILLE, SC 29927, (843) 288-0100, TO NOTIFY THE DEALER OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. UPON INVESTIGATION, THE CONTACT ASSOCIATED THE FAILURE WITH NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V286000 (STEERING), HOWEVER THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 118,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND THEN TOWED TO BOB SWOPE FORD, INC (1307 N DIXIE HWY, ELIZABETHTOWN, KY 42701) WHERE AN ESTIMATE WAS PROVIDED FOR THE REPAIR OF THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 113,000.
VEHICLE BECAME INCREDIBLY DIFFICULT TO STEER WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT 60MPH. IT COULD HAVE EASILY RESULTED IN A VEHICLE COLLISION. INDICATOR MESSAGE ON THE DASH STATED A STEERING FAULT. I WAS ABLE TO GET HOME AND LATER THE STEERING STOPPED WORKING COMPLETELY AND NOW THE ERROR MESSAGE READS STEERING LOSS. I TOOK THE CAR TO A LOCAL DEALERSHIP WHO DIAGNOSED A STEERING GEAR NEEDS TO BE REPLACED FOR $3,000. THIS STEERING LOSS COULD HAVE RESULTED IN AN INJURY OR DEATH, NO QUESTION. VEHICLE IS ONLY 6 YEARS OLD AND 2011-2013 FORD EXPLORERS HAVE BEEN RECALLED FOR THE SAME ISSUE (NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V286000) BUT THIS YEAR OF MANUFACTURE, 2014, IS NOT COVERED, ALTHOUGH IT IS THE EXACT SAME ISSUE.
THIS IS THE SECOND TIME MY POWER STEERING HAS QUIT SUDDENLY! THE FIRST TIME I REPLACED THE RACK AND PINION MYSELF AND ALL IS FINE FOR BOUT A YEAR AND IT JUST DID IT AGAIN!! I PULLED UP TO GET GAS AND KILLED MY CAR AND WENT TO GET BACK IN AND LEAVE AND I DIDN'T HAVE STEERING ANYMORE! NO WARNINGS!
FORD EXPLORER 2014 82,000 MILES GREAT CONDITION. WAS DRIVING 65 ON THE EXPRESSWAY, AT THAT TIME THE STEERING WENT OUT AND PULLED TO THE CAR TO THE LEFT . THE WHEEL WAS STUCK.. I OR SOMEONE ELSE ON THE ROAD COULD HAVE BEEN INJURED. I CALLED FORD SPOKE TO ARAYBA, GOT CASE NUMBER. I CALLED BACK THE NEXT DAY, ARAYBA STATED THERE WAS NOTHING FORD COULD DO FOR ME. I ASKED FOR A SUPERVISOR. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE. IT WAS A RECALL IN THE PAST. WHY NOT NOW? SUPERVISOR JENNIFER CALLED ME BACK A DAY LATER. SHE LAUGHED WHEN I TOLD HER I COULD'VE HAVE BEEN HURT BADLY. FORD WILL NOT DO ANYTHING TO HELP COVER CHARGES. THIS PART IS A 2500 FIX.
ON 7-09-2020, WHILE MAKING A TURN ON A COUNTY ROAD DOING APPROXIMATELY 4 MPHS, MY STEERING LOCKED UP AND BUT BRAKES MALFUNCTIONING CAUSING MY VEHICLE TO GO OFF ROADWAYINTO INTO A FIELD. THE STEERING WHEEL WHILE TURNING CAUSED A HORRIBLE SCREECH AND WAS HARD TO TURN. AFTERWARDS WHEN I WAS STOPPED TWO WARNING LIGHT CAME ON DEALING WITH THE TRACTION CONTROL . ALSO MY TURN SIGNALS STOPPED WORKING. GOING SLOWLY AND CAREFULLY I WAS ABLE TO GET HOME. THIS WAS APPROXIMATELY 10:30 P.M. AND A DISTANCE OF 10 MILES. I USED MY CODE READER AND A CODE OF P 135 OR 6 CAME UP. THE VEHICLE IS BEING REPAIRED AT WALDORF FORD ON 7-14-2020 . [XXX] IS THE SERVICE WRITER WHO CALLED ME [XXX] .AT WALDORF FORD AND AFFIRMED IT WAS THE RACK N PINON. I READ ON VARIOUS ON LINE SOURCES THAT THE RACK N PINON WAS THE CAUSE WITH THE SAME SIDE EFFECTS. THIS PART WAS RECALLED FOR THE FOLLOWING YEARS: 2011,12,13,15,16 AND 2017 . MY WIFE CONTINUES TO GET HEADACHES, DESPITE HAVING THE 'CUSTOMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM' THAT FORD PROVIDES DONE TO ELIMINATE CARBON MONOXIDE ISSUE IN HER CAR. WE BOUGHT A CARBON MONOXIDE SENSOR THAT READS DOWN TO 1PPM AND SHE IS GETTING 50-60PPM OF CARBON MONOXIDE IN THE CAB WHILE DRIVING HER VEHICLE. THE SAME SENSOR WAS PLACED IN 4 OTHER CARS (2 FORDS, 1 SUBARU; 1 TOYOTA) AND ALL 4 OTHER CARS READ 0 PPM. FORD IS NOT ACKNOWLEDGING THERE IS A PROBLEM AT ALL. WE CALLED TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT TO HAVE IT CORRECTED AND THE SERVICE ADVISOR SIMPLY SAYS 'I'VE NEVER HEARD OF CARBON MONOXIDE IN THE CAB.' THOUGHT LESS THAN A YEAR AGO THEY WERE THE SAME DEALERSHIP TO DO THE 'CUSTOMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM' FOR THE EXACT SAME ISSUE.
MY WIFE WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN THE STEERING STARTED FEELING DIFFERENT. AS SHE EXCITED THE HIGHWAY ONTO CITY STREETS, THE STEERING BECAME INCREASINGLY DIFFICULT TO CONTROL TO THE POINT THAT ANY REQUIRED SUDDEN MOVEMENTS WOULD HAVE CREATED AN ACCIDENT DUE TO DIFFICULTY TURNING THE WHEEL. THE FOLLOWING DAY, THE STEERING WAS COMPLETELY LOCKED UP AND COULD NOT TURN THE WHEEL AT ALL. THE CAR WAS TOWED TO FIRST FORD IN FALL RIVER, MA AND DETERMINED THE ENTIRE POWER STEERING PUMP, RACK AND PINION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED.
REAR CAMERA GOES BLACK INTERMITTENTLY IN OUR 2014 FORD. WHILE WE ARE BACKING OUT OF A PARKING PLACE OR OUT OF OUR DRIVEWAY IT MAY START AS EXPECTED BUT THEN BEFORE WE ARE FINISHED REVERSING IT JUST GOES TO A BLACK SCREEN. OTHER TIMES WHEN WE PUT THE CAR IN REVERSE, THE REAR CAMERA DOES NOT ENGAGE AT ALL.
The contact owns a 2014 Ford Explorer. The contact stated while exiting a parking spot, the steering wheel became difficult to turn. The contact stated that the power steering failure warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was not drivable. The contact towed the vehicle to the local dealer where it was diagnosed with needing the rack and pinion to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired but experience the same failure after the repair on two separate occasions. The vehicle has not been repaired. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was 18,712.
The backup camera does not work. Sometimes a reversed the image which is highly dangerous. This has happened to a number of people I know who have the same car. It says see dealership on the screen.
YESTERDAY I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE FREEWAY AND THE WINDSHIELD SIDE PANEL AND RUBBER FLEW OFF WHILE I WAS DRIVING. THE PLASTIC PIECE HIT THE CAR BEHIND ME. VERY SCARY AND UNSAFE. THIS IS GOING TO COST ME OVER 500$ TO REPLACE AND THIS IS AN EXPENSIVE CAR. I ALSO MAINTAIN MY CAR WELL AND TAKE CARE OF IT. THIS IS NOT SOMETHING THAT SHOULD HAPPEN. THE WINDSHIELD REPAIR SHOP SAID THEY SEE THIS PROBLEM ON MY CAR ALL THE TIME. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE AND DANGEROUS. FORD SHOULD HAVE TO FIX THIS PROBLEM BEFORE IT CAUSES A MAJOR WRECK AND SOMEONE DIES. *TR
BACKUP CAMERA NOT WORKING. IT GOES BLACK AND STATES "CAMERA UNAVAILABLE. CONTACT YOUR DEALERSHIP." THIS HAPPENS ANYTIME WHEN IN REVERSE.
The contact owns a 2014 Ford Explorer. The contact stated that whenever rained, water would leak into the vehicle through the moon roof. The water then leaked into the moon roof motor causing it to become inoperable. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and diagnosed that the moon roof front drains were clogged. The moon roof motor was replaced. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 49,000.
WHILE DRIVING AT 25-30 MPH VEHICLE BEGAN TO SHAKE HARD, THEN MADE A MISFIRING/POPPING SOUNDS, AND MOTOR SHUT DOWN IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. I WAS ABLE TO COAST IT AS CLOSE TO THE EDGE AS POSSIBLE BUT I WAS STILL IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD ENOUGH TO BE CONCERN FOR TRAFFIC ON A SEMI-BUSY ROAD. TRIED TO RESTART AND IT WOULD ONLY CLICK AND NOT EVEN ATTEMPT TO TURN OVER ANYMORE. HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED HOME. EXPLORER ONLY HAD JUST OVER 112,000 MILES ON IT WITH NO MECHANICAL CONCERN PRIOR TO THIS HAPPENING. MECHANIC DETERMINED MOTOR WAS SEIZED BUT COULD NOT DETERMINE A DEFINITE REASON AS TO WHY IT HAPPENED. *TR
CRACKED EXHAUST MANIFOLD. CAR HAS 75K MILES. $1300 REPAIR BILL FOR NEW MANIFOLD AND ATTACHED SENSORS.
