ABOUT A YEAR AEGO MY STEERING WHEEL STARTED MAKING A NOISE WHENEVER I TURNED THE WHEEL BOTH PARKED OR MOVING. SINCE THEN IT HAS PROGRESSED INTO A LOUD GRINDING NOISE. THE WHEEL IS STICKING WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AND I HAVE TO FORCE IT TO MOVE AT TIMES. IT DOES NOT RETURN FREELY ANYMORE ON IT"S OWN TO A STRAIGHT FORWARD POSITION. AFTER HAVING THE CAR IN AT CHAPMAN FORD, EGG HARBOR NJ, THEY TOLD ME IT"S DANGERIOUS AND I COULD LOOSE MY STEERING ENTIRELY WHILE DRIVING AND TO HAVE THE RACK AND PINION REPLACED. I CAN SEE THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS MODEL AND THERE WAS A SIMILIAR RECALL A FEW YEARS PRIOR FOR A SIMILAR PROBLEM. I DON"T THINK THE PROPER IMPROVEMENTS TO THE RACK AND PINION WHERE EVER APPLIED IN LATER MODELS AND THERE SHOULD BE ANOTHER RECALL OR THE PRIOR RECALL SHOULD BE EXTENDED. THANK YOU
LOSS STEERING WHEEL ASSIST WHEN DRIVING AT 60 MPH. CAR VERY DIFFICULT TO STEER THIS COULD CAUSE A FATAL ACCIDENT BECAUSE DRIVING IN 2 WAY ROAD.
VEHICLE IS EXHIBITING SAME EXACT PROBLEM AS 2013 MODELS UNDER RECALL, STEERING GEAR PROBLEM, WHICH WAS DIAGNOSED BY A FORD DEALER. CAR WAS BUILT JULY 2013. FORD REFUSES TO CONSIDER REPAIRING EVEN THOUGH PROBABILITY IS VERY HIGH THAT IT CONTAINS 2013 PARTS AS THERE WERE NO SIGNIFICANT ENGINEERING CHANGES FROM 2013 TO 2014 AND IS A VERY EARLY MODEL YEAR BUILD. CONTACTED FORD ON TWO OCCASIONS AND WAS TREATED BADLY BY CUSTOMER RELATIONS. REQUESTED ESCALATION OF COMPLAINT AND WAS NEVER CALLED BACK EVEN THOUGH THEY CLAIM THEY TRIED.
The contact owns a 2016 Ford Explorer. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle would jerk upon depression of the accelerator pedal without warning. The contact had taken the vehicle to an independent mechanic who was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The contact then called a dealer and he was informed that they would charge a diagnostic fee for inspecting the vehicle however, the contact declined. The manufacturer also was notified of the failure and referred him to NHTSA for assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 87,000. The VIN was unavailable.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT 60 MPH, THE PLASTIC RUBBER ATTACHED TO THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE WINDSHIELD DETACHED FROM THE VEHICLE WITHOUT WARNING AND STRUCK THE PASSENGER'S SIDE SIDE MIRROR. THE CONTACT PULLED OVER TO INSPECT THE VEHICLE AND FOUND NO CAUSE FOR THE FAILURE. THE DEALER NOR THE MANUFACTURER HAD BEEN NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 91,886.
DURING MY TRAVEL INTO WORK TODAY THE AIRBAG LIGHT ILLUMINATED. AFTER DOING SOME ONLINE RESEARCH THIS APPEARS TO BE A CONTINUAL PROBLEM WITH THIS MODEL YEAR. FORD HAS EVEN RELEASED A TECHNICAL BULLETIN ON THIS ISSUE. (HTTPS://FORD.OEMDTC.COM/1203/AIR-BAG-WARNING-LIGHT-ILLUMINATED-WITH-DTC-B141B-B141C-2014-2016-FORD-EXPLORER). THIS FAULT SHUTS DOWN THE AIRBAG SYSTEM AND COULD RESULT IN LOSS OF LIFE. FORD HAS RECOGNIZED THIS AS RECALL.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 FORD EXPLORER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED AND IDLING WITH THE DEFROSTER TURNED ON, THE REAR HATCH WINDOW SHATTERED. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DETERMINED THE LOCAL DEALER WEST HERR FORD (5025 CAMP RD. HAMBURG NY) AND MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE BUT NO ASSISTANCE WAS OFFERED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 84,000.
WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 15 MPH AND NEGOTIATING A TURN THE POWER STEERING STOPPED WORK AND QUIT ASSISTING IN TURNING THE VEHICLE. THANKFULLY I WAS DRIVING AND WAS STRONG ENOUGH TO RIGHT THE VEHICLE AND AVOID LEAVING THE ROAD. MIGHT HAVE BEEN A DIFFERENT STORY FOR MY WIFE. TOOK IT TO LOCAL FORD DEALER AND THEY CLAIM THE POWER STEERING GEAR NEEDS REPLACED AND THAT THIS MODEL/YEAR DOESN'T QUALIFY FOR ANY STEERING RELATED RECALLS. AFTER SOME RESEARCH I FOUND THAT 2011-2013 EXPLIRERS HAVE A POWER STEERING ASSIST RECALL. MULTIPLE SHOPS CLAIM THAT THIS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH THESE NEWER FORDS. AT THE TUNE OF 2700 BUCKS FOR PARTS AND LABOR I AM HOPING A RECALL CAN HAPPEN BECAUSE THIS IS CLEARLY A MANUFACTURER'S ISSUE WITH THESE GEARS.
ON FEBRUARY 18, 2020, AS I WAS DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE, A WARNING APPEARED ON THE DASHBOARD THAT READ 'STEERING FAULT SERVICE NOW'. WHEN I EXITED THE INTERSTATE AND FOUND A SAFE PLACE TO PARK TWO WARNINGS APPEARED ON THE DASHBOARD THAT READ 'STEERING LOSS STOP SAFELY' AND 'SERVICE ADVANCE TRAC'. ONCE I WAS STOPPED THE STEERING COMPLETELY FAILED. SEEMS TO BE AN ONGOING ISSUE WITH THE EXPLORER EVEN AFTER THE 2011-13 RECALL.
I LOST ALL ABILITY TO OPERATE THE VEHICLE WITHOUT WARNING. POWER STEERING, TRACTION ASSIST, BLIND SPOT MONITORING, STABILITRAC, COLLISION AVOIDANCE, AND TURN SIGNALS. LIMPED THE VEHICLE HOME AND REACHED THE ISSUE... COMMON FAILURE KNOW BY FORD MOTOR COMPANY. THIS FAILURE COULD HAVE RESULTED IN A SERIOUS ROLL OVER OR FATALITY. VEHICLE CURRENTLY AT DEALER RESOLVING ISSUE. DOCUMENTS TO FOLLOW.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS PREVIOUSLY INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V245000 (SUSPENSION) AND 19V435000 (SUSPENSION), AND THE STEERING MODULE WAS REPROGRAMMED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNDISCLOSED SPEED, THE POWER STEERING ASSIST FAILED INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO SOUTHGATE FORD LOCATED AT ((16501 FORT ST, SOUTHGATE, MI 481195), (734)282-3636), WHERE THE RECALL REPAIRS WERE PERFORMED TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE STEERING KNUCKLE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 87,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT IT WAS DIFFICULT TO MANEUVER THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE FREDERICK MOTOR COMPANY LOCATED AT 1 WAVERLEY DR, FREDERICK, MD 21702 WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE STEERING RACK AND PINION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 79,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
DRIVER SIDE REAR SEAT BELT WILL NOT PULL OUT OF RETRACTOR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 FORD EXPLORER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT UPON STARTING THE VEHICLE, THE VEHICLE WAS SHIFTED INTO DRIVE AND THE VEHICLE SHUDDERED AND ACCELERATED INDEPENDENTLY WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AUTONATION FORD VALENCIA 23920 CREEKSIDE RD, VALENCIA, CA 91355 TO BE DIAGNOSED. A DIAGNOSTIC WAS PERFORMED AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT HER VEHICLE HAD EXPERIENCED TRANSMISSION FAILURE AND WAS GIVEN AN ESTIMATE FOR THE REPAIR. THE VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA RECALL NUMBER: 19V435000 (SUSPENSION). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE BUT OFFERED NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 111,000.
REAR EXTERIOR TAIL LIGHTS ARE CONTINUING TO GET WATER INSIDE. THERE IS CONDENSATION ALL OVER THE INSIDE OF THE REAR EXTERIOR TAIL LIGHTS.
THERE WAS A RECALL 19S17 ON THE VEHICLE. I TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALER FOR THIS 12-16-2019. THEY REPLACED THE TOE LINKS (PART DB5Z-5A972-J) AND REPORTED THAT THE LEFT SIDE TOE LINK BALL JOINT WAS LOOSE AND NEEDED REPLACEMENT. THEY WOULD HAVE TO RESCHEDULE A TIME TO DO THAT. BECAUSE THE JOINT WAS LOOSE, THEY DID NOT PERFORM THE ALIGNMENT THAT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE DONE AFTER TOE LINK REPLACEMENT. DRIVING THE VEHICLE ON SNOW COVERED ROADS AFTERWARDS REVEALED THAT THE REAR SUSPENSION WAS OUT OF ALIGNMENT BECAUSE OF VERY POOR HANDLING/WANDER. THE VEHICLE DID NOT HAVE THAT PROBLEM BEFORE THE SERVICING. THE DEALER SHOULD HAVE DONE A SIMPLE ALIGNMENT THAT WOULD HAVE PUT THE ALIGNMENT CLOSE ENOUGH INSTEAD OF SENDING THE VEHICLE OUT IN AN UNSAFE CONDITION. BECAUSE OF THE COST I WAS QUOTED, I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO AN INDEPENDENT AUTO REPAIR SHOP FOR THE JOINT REPLACEMENT, WHERE IT WAS DONE MUCH CHEAPER. I RECEIVED ANOTHER RECALL NOTICE 20V-675 DATED NOVEMBER 2020, ON THE TOE LINKS AND RETURNED THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER ON 12-30-2020. THEY REPORTED THAT THE TOE LINKS PASSED THE INSPECTION AND THEY REPLACED THE ATTACHING BOLTS. ON 1-30-2021 I WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE IN A 70 MPH ZONE IN THREE LANES OF TRAFFIC WHEN THE LEFT SIDE TOE LINK FRACTURED. THE VEHICLE WENT WILDLY OUT OF CONTROL, SKIDDING AND SLIDING BACK AND FORTH UNTIL I WAS ABLE TO FIGHT IT TO A STOP. LUCKILY THERE WAS NOT A COLLISION WITH NEARBY TRAFFIC. THIS WAS 30 DAYS AFTER THE TOE LINK WAS SUPPOSED TO HAVE BEEN INSPECTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A FORD DEALER IN THE AREA. THE DEALER REPLACED BOTH TOE LINKS. I HAVE THE BROKEN TOE LINK. FORD HAS REFUSED TO COVER ANY OF MY EXPENSE WHICH INCLUDED A RENTAL CAR. MY CONCERN IS THAT DRIVING THE CAR NOW PRESENTS A VERY SCARY SITUATION. WILL A TOE LINK BREAK AGAIN AND SEND THE VEHICLE OUT OF CONTROL CAUSING AN ACCIDENT?
POWER STEERING RANDOMLY FAILED WHEN I TURNED THE CAR ON TO PULL IT OUT OF GARAGE, POWER STEERING ASSISTS FAULT OR SOMETHING, UNABLE TO STEER THE CAR EASILY. READ ONLINE THAT THIS IS A PRETTY COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS MODEL YEAR, CAN HAPPEN WHILE DRIVING, ALL SURROUNDING YEARS HAVE BEEN RECALLED ALREADY. WAS LUCKY I WAS NOT ON A HIGH SPEED ROAD OR COULD HAVE HAD AN ACCIDENT AS WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN ABLE TO STEER THE CAR.

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO SPITZER FORD HARTVILLE LOCATED AT (543 W MAPLE ST, HARTVILLE, OH 44632) WHERE THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 19V435000 (SUSPENSION). THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED BY THE DEALER THAT THEY WOULD BE WILLING TO PROVIDE A SECOND FREE REPAIR. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE RECURRED WHILE HER HUSBAND WAS DRIVING AT 67 MPH. THE VEHICLE WAS AGAIN TOWED TO SPITZER FORD WHERE IT WAS CONFIRMED THAT THE TOE LINK NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AGAIN. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT SUBJECTED TO A RECALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 117,000.
STEERING GEAR FAILING WHEN DRIVING ON HIGHWAY
CITY OF SOLEDAD CALIFORNIA POLICE INTERCEPTOR UTILITY BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR LOSS BRAKE FLUID DURING PATROL NO ONE GOT HURT FOUND PASSENGER SIDE HOSE RIP SUDDENLY. TOW IN TO CITY SHOP INSPECT BRAKE LINES FOUND ALSO DRIVER SIDE SWOLLEN NEAR CRIMP READY TO EXPLODE HAVE TO PYSICALY REMOVAL COVER FORD USES TO SEE DEFECT.FOUND ADDITIONAL POLICE FLEET HAD SAME PROBLEM DURING THERE TRAINING. POOR DESIGN OF THE HOSE CAUSE BRAKE HOSE TO RIP
THE INTERIOR DRIVER SIDE DOOR PANEL BECAME DETACHED FROM THE DOOR AROUND THE WINDOW WELL. IT WAS KNOWN THAT THIS WAS AN ISSUE WITH THIS VEHICLE MAKE AND MODEL BUT WE DID NOT EXPERIENCE THIS ISSUE UNTIL JANUARY OF 2020 SO WE HAD NO REASON TO TAKE ACTION PRIOR. I CONTACTED RYDELL OF INDEPENDENCE, IA AND SCHEDULED THIS TO BE REPAIRED AT NO COST, THINKING THAT THIS WAS STILL COVERED SINCE THE MILEAGE OF THE VEHICLE WAS AT 77,000(UNDER THE 100,000MILE WARRANTY). MY VEHICLE WAS ALSO SCHEDULED TO REPAIR ANOTHER RECALL THE SAME DAY. I NEVER RECEIVED ANY FURTHER CONTACT FROM THE FORD SERVICE GARAGE TO EXPLAIN THAT IT WASN'T COVERED AND WOULDN'T BE FIXED. I FOUND THIS OUT ONLY BY SEEING IT WASN'T ADDRESSED AND HAVING TO FIND THE MANAGER TO DISCUSS. AT THAT TIME THEY SAID FORD HONORS 5YEARS OR 100,000- WHICH EVER COMES FIRST. OUR WARRANTY STARTED IN JUNE OF 2014 AND EXPIRED JUNE OF 2019, ACCORDING TO FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE. WE MISSED THIS DEADLINE BY 6MOS FOR FORD TO COVER THE COST OF THE REPAIR FOR AN ISSUE THAT WAS NONEXISTENT AT THE TIME THE COVERAGE EXPIRED. I CONTACTED FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE TO VERIFY WHAT WAS SENT REGARDING THIS REPAIR AND THERE WAS NEVER ANY DIRECTION TO GET THE PANEL REPLACED EVEN IF IT WASN'T DETACHING FROM THE DOOR. THE VERBIAGE USED WAS TO REPAIR IF THE INTERIOR WAS DETACHING. THIS HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED AT THIS TIME

THE CONTACT STATED THAT EXCESSIVE FORCE WAS NEEDED TO LOCK THE DOOR SECURELY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DOOR AJAR AND TRANSMISSION NOT IN PARK WARNING LIGHTS WERE ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS SHIFTED INTO PARK AND THE DOOR SLAMMED SHUT TO START AND DRIVE THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO EARNHARDT FORD (7300 W. ORCHID LN, CHANDLER, AZ 85226, (480) 893-0000) AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE DOOR LATCH NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND A CASE WAS FILED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 98,500.
WHEN BACKING OUT OF GARAGE STEERING FREEZES AND CAN NOT TURN STEERING WHEEL. SHOWS "STEERING ASSIST MALFUNCTION SERVICE REQUIRED". TURN OF AND ON WILL COME BACK ON, (LAST 4 TIMES). THIS WAS A PROBLEM WITH 2011-2013 AND 2015-2017. FOR SOME REASON NO RECALL ON 2014. HEARD THE POWER STEERING HAS GONE OUT ON PEOPLE WHEN DRIVING ON HIGHWAY. THIS IS MY WIFES CAR. IF IT HAPPENS TO HER I AM SURE SHE WILL NOT BE ABLE TO CONTROLL THE CAR. ANY ACCIDENTS OR DEATHS REPORTED BECAUSE OF THIS? TOOK TO DEALER BECAUSE I ALWAYS HAVE IT SERVICED AT DEALER. THEY SAID IT "NEEDS POWER STEERING RACK AND STAB LINKS". COST TO REPAIR $2,365.77!!!!!! WHY ARE 2011, 2012, 2013, 2015, 2016 AND 2017 COVERED WITH RECALL BUT 2014 NOT COVERED??????????? HELP!!!!!

THE VEHICLE WAS TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED, BUT IT DID NOT RETURN TO NORMAL. DAVE SMITH FORD, LLC (4045 TRANSIT RD, WILLIAMSVILLE, NY 14221, (716) 634-2000) WAS CONTACTED AND STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED TO BRING THE VEHICLE IN FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE CONTACT REFERENCED NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V286000(STEERING). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 70,000.
POPPING NOISES FROM FRONT PTO . PTO CASE SPLIT IN HALF DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD WITH MY KIDS IN THE CAR CAUSING VEHICLE FRONT TIRES TO SKID FOR A SPLIT 2ND AND DIFFERENTIAL FLUID SPILLING ALL OVER THE UNDER CARRIAGE CAUSING SMOKE.
THE INTERMEDIATE SHIFT BRACKET SHEARED OFF/BROKE AT THE TRANSITION WHERE IT MOUNTS TO ENGINE. VEHICLE SHAKES VIOLENTLY WHILE BRAKING AT HIGHER SPEEDS... LESSER MOVEMENT AT SLOWER SPEEDS WHILE BRAKING. I HAD JUST REPLACED MY BRAKES AND DONE THEM SEVERAL TIME WITH ROTORS TRYING TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM, THINKING IT WAS SOMETHING I HAD DONE. FINALLY FOUND IT WHEN GREASING FRONT CALIPERS HOPING TO CURE THE PROBLEM YET AGAIN.
ONE WEEK PRIOR TO INCIDENT, THE CAR STARTED MAKING A CLICKING SOUND WHEN TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL TO THE LEFT, BOTH WHILE DRIVING AND WHILE SITTING STILL, BUT WAS MOST NOTICEABLE AT LOW SPEEDS. WE MADE AN APPOINTMENT WITH FORD TO HAVE IT INSPECTED, THE FIRST AVAILABLE WAS 10 DAYS AWAY. OVER THE NEXT FEW DAYS THE CLICKING SOUND INCREASED AND WAS MORE NOTICEABLE. ON THE DAY OF THE INCIDENT THE CAR WAS DRIVEN A SHORT DISTANCE, THEN PARKED. WHEN WE RETURNED TO DRIVE THE CAR AGAIN AND STARTED THE CAR THE STEERING WHEEL WAS COMPLETELY STUCK, AND COULD NOT BE TURNED IN EITHER DIRECTION. IT MADE A TERRIBLE SCREECHING SOUND WHEN TRYING TO TURN THE WHEEL. THE CAR HAD TO BE TOWED TO A FORD DEALERSHIP. THEY REPLACED THE POWER CONTROL STEERING MODULE AND STEERING ASSEMBLY (RACK AND PINION). THIS IS THE SAME PART THAT WAS RECALLED ON THE 2011-2013 FORD EXPLORERS, AND FROM ONLINE RESEARCH APPEARS TO BE THE SAME PART IN THE 2014 FORD EXPLORERS. THEREFORE, THIS PART SHOULD BE RECALLED AND SHOULD BE REPLACED BY FORD AS IT IS DEFECTIVE. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE AS THE INABILITY TO STEER INCREASES THE RISK OF CRASH AND DEATH. IF THE WHEEL HAD LOCKED UP WHILE DRIVING WE WOULD HAVE CERTAINLY CRASHED.
THE WATER PUMP IN MY 2014 FORD EXPLORER 3.5L V6 ENGINE BEGAN LEAKING COOLANT. THE WATER PUMP HAD TO BE REPLACED AT 79,000 MILES. I BECAME AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM AFTER GETTING AN OIL CHANGE. THE COOLANT RESERVOIR HAD TO BE FILLED AND I WAS INFORMED OF A POSSIBLE COOLANT LEAK. TWO WEEKS AFTER GETTING THE COOLANT FILLED, MY RADIATOR FAN BEGAN RUNNING FAST AND LOUD. I BROUGHT IT INTO THE SHOP AND WAS TOLD I HAD A LEAKING WATER PUMP. THERE WAS ONLY ONE INCH LEFT OF COOLANT IN THE RESERVOIR AFTER JUST BEING FILLED UP. I WAS THEN TOLD IT WOULD TAKE 14-16 HOURS OF LABOR TO REPLACE THE WATER PUMP WHICH ITSELF COSTS LESS THAN $150. I WAS REFERRED BY THE SHOP TO THE DEALERSHIP BECAUSE THE WORK NEEDED WAS EXTENSIVE AND BECAUSE IT INVOLVED A FORD PART. THE DEALERSHIP REFUSED TO PAY FOR THE REPAIRS AND REFERRED ME TO FORD. THE DEALERSHIP CONFIRMED THE WATER PUMP LEAK. BASICALLY, THE ENGINE HAD TO BE TAKEN APART TO REPLACE THE WATER PUMP, BECAUSE THE PUMP IS MADE PART OF THE ENGINE ITSELF. I BELIEVE THE FORD ENGINE AND THE WATER PUMP IS DEFECTIVE. THE GASKETS OR BEARINGS IN THE WATER PUMP FAIL AND THERE ARE WEEP HOLES IN THE WATER PUMP WHICH ALLOW COOLANT TO LEAK INTO THE ENGINE AND MIX WITH THE ENGINE OIL. MY VEHICLE WAS OUT OF THE MANUFACTURER'S WARRANTY. I SPENT $1,839.82 TO FIX A SINGLE WATER PUMP! THERE SHOULD BE AN INVESTIGATION INTO THIS MANUFACTURING AND DESIGN DEFECT DUE TO THE BURDEN IT PLACES ON THE PUBLIC. THERE ARE ALSO SAFETY ISSUES CAUSED BY THIS DUE TO VEHICLES BEING SO AFFECTED BY THE COOLANT LEAKS THE ENGINES SHUT DOWN COMPLETELY WHILE IN USE. I UNDERSTAND THIS HAS HAPPENED TO MANY, MANY OTHER FORD 3.5L V6 ENGINES. I HAVE THE MY VEHICLE REPAIR RECORDS IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO REVIEW THEM.

VEHICLE HAS STRONG FUEL SMELL INSIDE CABIN AT STARTUP BUT THERE ARE NO ENGINE CODES TO CHECK. OTHER YEAR MODELS OF THIS VEHICLE HAVE HAD A RECALL ON THE FUEL SYSTEM LEAKING, BUT NOT YET ON THIS YEAR MODEL AS FAR AS I COULD FIND.
WHILE TRAVELING AT ABOUT 50 MPH ON A 4 LANE HIGHWAY, THE STEERING OF THE CAR BEGAN TO BE UNRESPONSIVE. IN SLIPPERY CONDITIONS I REDUCED THE SPEED AND WAS ABLE TO NEGOTIATE MY RETURN TO HOME. AFTER SHUTTING THE CAR OFF, I RESTARTED AND THE STEERING WHEEL WOULD NOT MOVE AT ALL. WHEN THE CAR WAS BEING LOADED ON THE TOW TRUCK, THE FRONT WHEELS COULD NOT BE STEERED AT ALL. DEALER REPLACED THE STEERING COMPUTER BUT I WAS TOLD THE MECHANICAL STEERING MECHANISM HAD FAILED ALSO. NO ONE WAS HURT OR ACCIDENT OCCURRED, BUT THE CASCADING PROBLEM CREATED A DANGEROUS SITUATION.

I'M GETTING CEL ERROR CODE P0016. THERE IS A RATTLING NOISE ON STARTUP AND SOMETIMES DURING HIGHWAY DRIVING EVERYDAY. MY EXPLORER SPORT HAS 65,340 MILES ON IT, W AY TO SOON FOR A TIMING CHAIN. THE DEALER STATED I PROBABLY HAVE TIMING CHAIN STRETCH AND THERE NO TSB TO RESOLVED THE ISSUE IN MY TRUCK EVEN THOUGH I HAVE THE SAME ECOBOOST ENGINE AS THE F150 THAT THE TSB 17-0026 DOES APPLY TO. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 68,500.
WHEN ENGAGING THE VEHICLE INTO REVERSE AND DRIVING, THE BACK-UP CAMERA OFTEN GLITCHES AND OFTEN GOES BLACK. SHOWS ERROR "BACK UP CAMERA NOT AVAILABLE. CONTACT DEALERSHIP". I KNOW THE 2020 MODELS HAVE JUST HAD A RECALL FOR THIS EXACT SAME ISSUE.
THE ENGINE IS IDLING ROUGHLY ESPECIALLY JUST AFTER I FILL THE GAS TANK. THE FUEL MILEAGE HAS BEEN STEADILY DECLINING EVEN THOUGH I'VE CHANGED THE SPARK PLUGS, COILS, MASS AIR FLOW SENSOR AND AIR FILTER. THE PROBLEM COULD BE A DEFECTIVE FUEL PUMP OR SOMETHING IN THE FUEL SYSTEM. THERE HAVE EVEN BEEN OCCASIONS WHERE THE VEHICLE WON'T START IMMEDIATELY AFTER I FILL THE GAS TANK UNTIL I'VE WAITED A FEW MINUTES.
