THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR DOES NOT 'CLOSE' PROPERLY, THE 'DOOR AJAR' SIGN IS CONSISTENTLY ON EVEN THOUGH THE ACTUAL DOOR IS CLOSED. WHEN YOU GET IN/OUT OF THE CAR, YOU HAVE TO SHUT THE DOOR MULTIPLE TIMES FOR IT TO RECOGNIZE THE DOOR IS CLOSED. MANY TIMES I HAVE TO SLAM IT SO HARD, I'M AFRAID I'LL BREAK THE DOOR. THE CAR DOORS WON'T LOCK, CAUSE IT DOESN'T RECOGNIZE THAT THE DOOR IS 'CLOSED'.THE KEYLESS ENTRY ALARM WILL RANDOMLY GO OFF, WHILE WE'RE IN THE HOUSE, CAUSE THE CAR ALL THE SUDDEN SAYS THE 'DOOR IS AJAR'. THIS CAN BE HAZARDOUS AS I DRIVE AS THE DOORS WON'T LOCK AND WE HAVE YOUNG CHILDREN IN THE CAR. THIS ALSO EATS AWAY AT THE BATTERY LIFE, CAUSE THE CAR ELECTRICAL SYSTEM IS ON (INTERIOR DOME LIGHTS, ELECTRICAL RADIO PANEL) SINCE THE DOOR IS CONSIDERED OPEN (WITH THE DOOR AJAR SIGN). THIS HAS BEEN ONGOING FOR ABOUT 6-9 MONTHS NOW. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 FORD EXPLORER. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH, THE VEHICLE LOST POWER STEERING ABILITY AND THE SERVICE POWER STEERING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT DROVE TO PURCHASE FORD/LINCOLN (1352 US-45, MAYFIELD, KY 42066) ON SEPTEMBER 19, 2019 WHERE THEY REPLACED THE BATTERY; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
WHILE DRIVING 2014 EXPLORER VERY NEAR HOME, THE POWER STEERING FAILED. I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE BACK HOME BUT CALLED FOR A TOW TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIR. THE 'CODE' SAID RESET COMPUTER. THIS WAS DONE BUT DURING TEST DRIVE FAILURE HAPPENED AGAIN. SINCE NO CODE IS PROVIDED, I AM TOLD THE ONLY THING THAT IS LEFT IS JUST TO DRIVE IT AND SEE IF IT HAPPENS AGAIN. THIS JUST SEEMS VERY UNSAFE ESPECIALLY IF MY WIFE IS DRIVING AND UNABLE TO HANDLE THE CAR TO A STOP OR WE ARE IN HEAVY TRAFFIC.
STEERING ASSIST FAULT SERVICE REQUIRED MESSAGE POPPED UP WHEN I STARTED MY CAR. THE STEERING WHEEL WOULD NOT TURN EITHER DIRECTION. LUCKILY I WAS IN OFFICE PARKING LOT AND IT DID NOT HAPPEN WHILE DRIVING OR I WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN ABLE TO TURN TO AVOID OTHER CARS. I MADE ARRANGEMENTS TO HAVE CAR TOWED, BUT WHEN I STARTED IT UP AGAIN THE STEERING WORKED AS NORMAL. I DID NOT WANT TO CHANCE IT HAPPENING AGAIN SO I PUT IN THE SHOP. IT WAS AN ELECTRICAL ISSUE WITHIN THE STEERING SHAFT AND HAD TO BE REPLACED. I WAS LUCKY THAT IT DID NOT HAPPEN WHILE DRIVING, BUT WANTED TO REPORT IN CASE IT HELPS OTHERS.
THE RECALL 19S17 (NHTSA 19V-435) AFFECT THE REAR SUSPENSION .WE BRING IN THE CAR TODAY AND THEY REPLACE THE BAD PARTS . NOW FORD SERVICE IS TELLING ME THAT IT AFFECT MY MOTOR AND TRANSMISSION MOUNTS BUT I HAVE TO PAY $900 TO REPLACE THOSE . VEHICLE IS VIBRATING AND SHAKING OVER 70MPH . THE MOUNTS ARE HERE TO MINIMISE THE VIBRATION DUE TO ROAD DEFECTED , IF THE SUSPENSION DON'T DO ITS WORK , AND IT WASN'T BECAUSE OF THE RECALL ... VEHICLE IS ONLY 90K MILES
WHILE DRIVING STRAIGHT ON THE HIGHWAY A WARNING LIGHT ALERT CAME ON SAYING STEERING ASSIST FAULT SERVICE REQUIRED. AT THE SAME TIME THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP AS I WAS TRAVELING 70 MPH. I COULD ONLY TURN THE STEERING WHEEL A 10TH OF A TURN IF THAT. I SLOWED DOWN AND PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. I THEN TURNED OFF THE CAR AND ATTEMPTED TO RESTART THE CAR HOPING IT WOULD RESET THE SYSTEM SO I COULD MAKE IT TO THE LOCAL CAR DEALERSHIP. UNFORTUNATELY IT WOULD NOT RESET SO I LIMPED THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP AS SAFELY AS I COULD. HAD I BEEN TURNING WHEN THIS HAD HAPPENED I WOULDNT NOT HAVE BEEN ABLE TO MAKE A TURN AT THE SPEED I WAS GOING (70MPH).
EXHAUST FUMES ARE ENTERING THE VEHICLE CABIN WHILE DRIVING. THE DRIVER AND PASSENGERS ARE OVERCOME BY THE FUMES AND FORCED TO ROLL THE WINDOWS DOWN TO CLEAR THE SMELL AND AVOID GETTING SICK. THIS MOSTLY OCCURS WHEN THE VEHICLE IS ACCELERATING AND THE HEATER IS TURNED ON.

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO WAYNE AKERS FORD (2000 10TH AVE N, LAKE WORTH, FL 33461, (800) 749-8875) WHERE IT WAS CURRENTLY WAITING TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 88,000.
BELIEVE THERE IS AN ISSUE WITH CARBON MONOXIDE IN MY VEHICLE. WHILE DRIVING FOR ABOUT 4 HOURS THE CARBON MONOXIDE DETECTOR IN MY BAG BEGAN TO SOUND INDICATING THE PRESENCE OF CARBON MONOXIDE. IT DID NOT STOP UNTIL I REMOVED IT FROM THE VEHICLE. I WAS LIGHT HEADED AND EXPERIENCING NAUSEA AT THE TIME.
APPROXIMATELY 68,000 MILES. GRINDING NOISE COMING FROM RACK WHEN TURNING WHEEL LEFT AND RIGHT AT LOWER SPEEDS AND ON SHARP TURNS. THE WHEELS DO NOT STRAIGHTEN OUT OR RETURN TO CENTER WHEN EXITING A TURN...DRIVER MUST MANUALLY RETURN THE WHEEL TO THE MIDDLE. I WAS ALREADY AWARE OF THE RECALLS FOR THE 2011-2013 FOR THE MALFUNCTIONING POWER STEERING GEARS (OR RACK AND PINION) WHEN I TOOK THE VEHICLE INTO ROYAL OAK FORD (ROYAL OAK, MI), THEY DETERRMINED THAT THE RACK NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AND THAT FORD WILL NOT COVER THE COSTS FOR THIS SAFETY ISSUE. QUOTED $1650 FOR RACK AND $550 FOR LABOR FOR A TOTAL OF $2200. THEY WERE NOT ALSO ABLE TO DISCLOSE WHAT WAS THE ACTUALLY WRONG WITH THE RACK, ONLY STATED THAT IT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE RACK, P/N: STE633RM, WAS USED IN THE 2011-2015 FORD EXPLORERS. THE SAFETY RECALL IS ONLY FOR 2011-2013. I HAVE A 2014 EXPLORER WHICH IS NOT COVERED IN THE RECALL. PARTS.FORD.COM STATE THAT THIS IS A REMANUFACTURED RACK WHICH RETAILS FOR $1417.09. THERE IS A 2 YEAR WARRANTY INCLUDED WITH THIS PRICE.
MY ALARM WILL GO OFF AT RANDOM TIMES WHEN IT'S SITTING IN MY DRIVEWAY. MY KEYS WOULD BE HANGING UP OR ON THE KITCHEN TABLE NO WE'RE NEAR ANYONE AN MY ALARM WILL JUST GO OFF.
I WAS DRIVING AT ABOUT 60MPH WHEN I HEARD SOMETHING TAPPING MY PASSENGER WINDOW. I DID NOT KNOW WHAT IT WAS SO I IMMEDIATELY STOPPED ONLY TO FIND THE WINDSHIELD TRIM MOLDING SEPARATED FROM THE WINDSHIELD WINDOW. I WAS ABLE TO RETRIEVE THE MOLDING. THIS WAS BACK IN JUNE. I CONTACTED FORD DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD IT WOULD BE $250 AND IT WAS NOT COVERED BY WARRANTY. I CALLED FORD TO COMPLAINT AND WAS TOLD THEY WOULD CALL BACK, THEY NEVER DID. TODAY I WAS DRIVING AT 65MPH IN THE EXPRESSWAY AND I HEARD A WEIRD SOUND, LIKE SOMETHING DETACHING MY VEHICLE. NOW THE LEFT ONE FLEW OFF.
ON SUNDAY SEPTERMBER 1ST WHILE I WAS DRIVING BACK HOME A LIGHT ON MY DASHBOARD CAME ON, IT SAID "ENGINE COOLANT OVER TEMPERATURE" IN RED LIGHT. I WAS SCARE BECAUSE I WAS STUCK IN THE FREEWAY AND I WAS STILL FAR AWAY FROM HIM AND MY KIDS WERE IN THE BACK. I DROVE VERY SLOW AND MANAGED TO GET HOME. ON TUESDAY I TOOK MY CAR TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP AND THEY TOLD ME THAT I HAVE TO REPLACE MY WATER PUMP, AND IT WAS A HARD AND LONG SERVICE AND THAT IT WAS GOING TO COST ME $3,300. I AM SURPRISE OF HOW MUCH THAT COSTS, ESPECIALLY THAT IT HAPPENED ON MY 2014 FORD EXPLORER. I BOUGHT IT BRAND NEW AND I'VE BEEN TAKING IT TO FORD DEALERSHIP EVERY 7,000 MILES TO GET THE MAINTENANCE. PLUS, THE LAST TIME THAT I TOOK IT IN TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR ITS OIL CHANGE, THEY SAID THAT EVERYTHING WAS WORKING WELL. SO FOR MY SURPRISE TO HAVE THIS HAPPEN ESPECIALLY WHEN MY CAR ONLY HAS 82,316 MILES. THE LIGHT TURNS ON WHEN THE CAR IS IN MOTION. I CAN HEAR THE ENGINE WORKING EXTRA HARD TO COMPENSATE WHATEVER ELSE IS GOING ON.

TURNING AT A RED LIGHT MY POWER STEERING LOCKED UP WITH A WARNING ON THE SCREEN STATING STEERING ASSIT SERVICE REQUIRED. I TURN THE VEHICLE OFF AND BACK ON AND THE STEERING UNLOCKED. SINCE THE CAR IS MAKING A WHINING NOSE. I SEE MULTIPLE RECALLS FOR THIS MAKE AND MODEL FOR POWER STEERING ISSUES BUT MY VIN NUMBER ISNT LISTED.
WHILE STOPPED WITH ENGINE IDLING A WARNING CAME ON "STEERING LOSS STOP SAFELY". POWER STEERING GONE. TOW TRUCK WAS AFTER SOME TIME ABLE TO STEER IT ONTO THE FLAT BED. DEALER HAD TO REPLACE POWER STEERING RACK. THERE IS A SAFETY RECALL FOR THE 2011-2013 & 2015-2017 EXPLORER. BUT NOT THE 2014? HOW MANY BODIES DOES IT TAKE TO ISSUE A RECALL $$$

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO GERVAIS FORD(5 LITTLETON RD, AYER, MA) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE STEERING RACK WAS FAULTY AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. PREVIOUSLY, WHILE MAKING SHARP TURNS, A GRINDING NOISE WAS PRESENT COMING FROM THE STEERING COLUMN. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER, BUT NO FAILURE WAS FOUND. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 81,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 53,000. *BF CONSUMER STATED I BOUGHT THIS BECAUSE I CAN ONLY TURN MY NECK A LIMITED AMOUNT AND REALLY LIKED THE CAMERA FOR BACKING UP. AT ANY TIME IN THE MIDDLE OF A BACKED THE CAMERA WILL GO BLANK LEAVING ME STANDED, I HAVE CONTACTED FORD HEADQUARTERS. *JB
WHILE DRIVING, NOTICED THAT IS WAS MORE DIFFICULT TO TURN CORNERS. APPONTMENT WAS NOT AVAILABLE FOR A FEW DAYS TO HAVE IT LOOKED AT, AND IT WAS PARKED WHILE WAITED FOR APPOINTMENT. WHEN I DROVE IT TO DEALERSHIP, THERE WAS A GRINDING NOISE WHILE TURNING AS WELL AS THE DIFFICULT TURNING. WAS TOLD THE ELECTRONIC STEERING GEAR IS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. IN DOING RESEARCH, THIS WAS RECALLED ON MANY OTHER EXPLORERS BUT NOT THE 2014 YEAR.
DOOR PANEL HAS POPPED OFF THE TOP OF INTERIOR DRIVERS SIDE DOOR AND IS ALSO PULLING AWAY ON ARM REST. THIS WAS A PREVIOUS RECALL BY FORD BUT OURS DID NOT OCCUR UNTIL AFTER THE RECALL END DATE AND FORD WOULD NOT REPLACE DOOR PANEL UNLESS YOUR SHOWED THE DEFECT. FORD REFUSES TO FIX EVEN THOUGH THEY KNOW ITS A FLAW.
The contact owns a 2014 Ford Explorer. The contact stated while driving at 10 MPH and making a turn, the steering wheel locked. The message "Power Steering Assist Fault" and "All Terrain Maintenance" were displayed. The contact turned on her hazard lights. The contact stated as she turned off the vehicle and restarted it, the steering wheel regained power steering. The contact stated that the failure had been reoccurring while driving. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic at two different occasions. The independent mechanic diagnosed that the rack and pinion needed to be replaced. The contact stated that the rack and pinion was replaced twice. However, the failure persisted. The dealer and the manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 110,000.
WHEN I STARTED MY VEHICLE (IN PARK) I GOT A MESSAGE ON THE DASHBOARD THAT SAID "POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT". I TRIED BACKING OUT OF THE PARKING SPACE AND TURNING AND THE POWER STEERING DID NOT WORK.

THE CONTACT DROVE TO GORDIE BOUCHER FORD LINCOLN OF JANESVILLE (2727 US-14, JANESVILLE, WI 53545, 608-754-5511) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TOE LINK WAS FRACTURED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT ASSOCIATED THE FAILURE WITH NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 19V435000 (SUSPENSION); HOWEVER, HIS VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 44,000.
8/10/2019 SERVICE AT FORD DEALERSHIP SERVICE AT TED BRITT AUTO CENTER IN FAIRFAX, VA. VEHICLE HAS $63,528 MILES. REPORT INDICATED TO RECOMMEND TSB16-0001 TO ADDRESS AIR BAG LIGHT. QUOTE $1060 PARTS AND LABOR. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND REPORTED CLAIM TO FORD TO COVER WHICH THEY DENIED. NOTICED MULTIPLE REPORTS OF SIMILAR ISSUE. THIS SHOULD BE COVERED BY FORD.
WINDSHIELD MOLDING ON BOTH SIDES HAS JUST BLOWN OFF WHILE I AM DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY AND THE DRIVER SIDE PASSENGER DOOR MOLDING HAS ALSO FLOWN OFF WHILE DRIVE IN THE CANYON. I HAVE HAD ALL THREES PANELS BLOW OFF WHILE I WAS DRIVE WITH IN 3 MONTHS AND I AM SO MAD ABOUT IT BECAUSE THEY ARE SO EXPENSIVE TO REPLACE. NOT ONLY ARE THEY EXPENSIVE IF IT RAINS IT IS GOING TO RAIN STRAIGHT INTO MY CAR THIS IS A HORRIBLE HAZARDOUS PROBLEM THAT NEEDS TO BE FIXED. I AM LUCKY THAT ONE OF THOSE PANELS DIDNT HIT SOMEONE ELSES CAR AND CAUSE DAMAGE OR WORSE BECAUSE THOSE ARE BIG THICK MOLDING THAT COULD REALLY CAUSE MAJOR DAMAGE TO SOMEONE ELSE AND THEIR VEHICLE. I HAVE HAD OTHER FORD VEHICLES AND I BOUGHT THIS ONE REALLY EXCITED AND HAS BEEN NOTHING BUT DISAPPOINTING. SO LONG STORY SHORT 3 DIFFERENT PANELS/MOLDING FLEW OFF MY CAR IN THE CANYON OR FREEWAY ON 3 DIFFERENT OCCASIONS AND IT IS SO DANGEROUS.

DURING THE CRASH, THE 3RD ROW PASSENGER SIDE SEAT BELT MALFUNCTIONED AND FAILED TO SECURE THE 7 YEAR OLD PASSENGER WHILE SEATED IN A BOOSTER. THE PASSENGER WAS PROJECTED FORWARD MAKING CONTACT WITH THE REAR SECTION OF THE 2ND ROW SEAT. THE PASSENGER SUSTAINED A SEVERE INJURIES WHICH INCLUDED A CONCUSSION AND A HEAD AVULSION. A POLICE REPORT WAS TAKEN AT THE SCENE AND THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED AWAY. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DETERMINED. THE MANUFACTURER AND LOCAL DEALER WERE NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 94,000.

THE CONTACT CALLED MCCOMBS FORD WEST (7111 NORTHWEST LOOP 410, SAN ANTONIO, TX 78238) AND MAC HAIK'S SOUTHWAY FORD (7979 INTERSTATE 35 ACCESS RD, SAN ANTONIO, TX 78224) AND WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS ON THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT WAS THEN REFERRED TO THE MANUFACTURER WHO ALSO INFORMED HIM THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS ON THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER INFORMED THE CONTACT TO CALL NHTSA FOR ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE HAD YET TO BE REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 40,000.
MY HUSBAND AND I WERE DRIVING HOME FROM MYRTLE BEACH AND THE STEERING WHEEL STARTED TO BECOME STIFF. WE PULLED OVER INTO A HOTEL PARKING LOT TO SEE WHAT THE ISSUE WAS BUT COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING UNUSUAL. I PROCEEDED TO START THE CAR AND THE DASH READ 'STEERING LOSS'...'SERVICE ADVANCE TRAC'. I HAD TO GET TOWED TO FORD, WHICH THANK GOD WAS ONLY 2MILES AWAY.. WE WERE TOLD THAT THE POWER STEERING HAD DIED SUDDENLY AND THAT IT JUST HAPPENS SOMETIMES. THE TOTAL WAS $1771. I'M SOOO DISAPPOINTED WITH GORD. I'VE ONLY HAD THE TRUCK FOR A LITTLE OVER A YEAR AND I'VE ONLY PUT 23,000 ON IT SINCE I BOUGHT IT PREOWNED WITH 43,000...
WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY THE STEERING WAS STICKING AS I MOVED THE WHEEL LEFT OR RIGHT. I WAS ABLE TO REACH MY DESTINATION, BUT WHEN I TRIED TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE THE FOLLOWING DAY, THE COMPUTER DISPLAYED A MESSAGE THAT THERE WAS COMPLETE STEERING FAILURE AND I COULD NOT GET THE STEERING WHEEL TO BUDGE. I CALLED FOR A TOW AND IT WENT TO A FORD DEALERSHIP. THE CONTACTED ME LATER IN THE DAY AND STATED THAT THE STEERING RACK COMPLETELY FAILED AND THAT IT WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED. THE TOTAL COST OF STEERING RACK AMOUNTED TO $2173.75. MY UNDERSTANDING IS THAT FORD HAS RECALLED 2011-2013 AND 2015-2018 MODELS, BUT NOT MY MODEL YEAR OF 2014.

THE APIN (NAVIGATION/DISPLAY) SYSTEM ON THIS VEHICLE CONSTANTLY BLANKS OUT SO YOU LOOSE ALL SAFTEY INFORMATION. GPS CONSTANTLY GOES OFF COURSE MEANING YOUR DRIVING DOWN A ROAD AND IT HAS YOU FLOATING OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD HALF A MILE AWAY AND 1/3 MILE BEHIND OR AHEAD OF YOUR LOCATION. THIS CAUSES NUMEROUS RE-ROUTES INCLUDING THOSE THAT MIGHT NOT BE SAFE TO CONDUCT. THE HEADS UP DISPLAY SYSTEM CONSTANTLY BLANKS OUT AND RESETS LOOSING ALL SAFTEY INFORMATION, SOMETIMES IT STAYS BLANK A LONG TIME. FORD HAD EXTENDED THE WARRANTY FOR APIN SYSTEM THEY KNOW IS FAULTY TO 5 YEARS I TOOK MY VEHICLE INTO SERVICE BOTH UNDER WARRANTY I PAID DEDUCTIBLE FOR AS WELL AS IN 2018 TO HAVE IT REPAIRED; THEY APPLIED THE SAME UPDATES OVER AND OVER AND REFUSED TO REPLACE THE FAULTY APIN SYSTEM. FORD NOW REFUSES TO ASSIST AND I FEEL THIS IS MAJOR SAFTEY CONCERN, NOT ONLY DOES THE PRODUCT JUST NOT FUNCTION PROPERLY BUT I FEEL ARE MAJOR SAFTEY CONCERNS WHEN THE DISPLAYS ALL BLANK OUT AND RESET OR DO NOT COME BACK ON... THIS OCCURS WHILE DRIVING. FORD REFUSES TO FIX THE PROBLEM AND ALLOWED THE EXTENDED WARRANTY THEY OFFERED TO LAPSE SO THAT THEY COULD WASH THEIR HANDS OF IT. I FEEL THIS FAULTING SYSTEM COULD RESULT INTO A CRASH OF SOME KIND BY DISTRACTING THE DRIVER WHEN BLANKING OUT; REROUTING IMPROPERLY ONTO ROADS THAT DO NOT EXIST. AND SO ON.. THE ELECTRICAL STEERING CONTROL MODULE WENT OUT ON MY CAR (63K MILES) AND HAS BEEN REPLACED BY THE DEALER AT MY COST FOR $3300. WHEN DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AT ANY SPEED, WORSE AT FREEWAY SPEEDS, THE CAR STARTED GRINDING WHILE SWITCHING LANES AND TURNING WITHOUT ANY FAULT LIGHTS ON. THEY EXPLAINED THAT THEY HAD TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE STEERING RACK BECAUSE THE PIECES OF THE RACK ARE NOT SERVICEABLE - 3K AFTER THE WARRANTY RUNS OUT - HOW CONVENIENT FOR FORD! THEN I GO DIGGING ONLINE AND FIND THEY HAVE RECALLED THIS UNIT IN OTHER EXPLORERS AND ESCAPES BUT NOT THE 2014. BOGUS! I HAVE NEVER OWNED A CAR WHERE THE STEERING WENT OUT, BUT KNOW [XXX] WELL A NEW STEERING PUMP OR MECHANICALS IN A HYDRAULIC SYSTEM WOULD BE $200-$500 MAX. JULY 2019 I HAD THE 'REPAIR' DONE AT MY LOCAL DEALER. AUGUST 2019, MORE HEADACHES AND MY VEHICLE STILL REGISTERS 18-20 PPM WHILE DRIVING. THE APPARENT FIX DID NOTHING TO CORRECT THE CARBON MONOXIDE FROM LEAKING INTO MY CABIN AREA. DRIVING WITH AIR CONDITIONER ON AND IN RECIRCULATING MODE.
AFTER DRIVING THE VEHICLE AN ODOR WOULD CONSUME THE INTERIOR. I TOOK IT TO A GARAGE AND THEY THOUGHT IT WAS THE AIR CONDITIONING BUT IT DIDN'T HELP. AFTER YOU DRIVE AND THEN COME TO A STOP THE ENTIRE INTERIOR IS CONSUMED WITH A HORRIBLE FUME...IT HAS CAUSED MY EYES TO WATER, BECOME NAUSEOUS AND ALMOST PASS OUT. IT IS GETTING WORSE.
