MY EXPLORER HAS AN INTERMITTENT AIRBAG LIGHT THAT COMES ON AND GOES OFF. I'VE TAKEN IT INTO THE DEALER AND THEY NEVER FIND ANYTHING WRONG; BUT THE ISSUE PERSISTS. I'M CONCERNED AN AIRBAG MAY INFLATE INCORRECTLY OR NOT AT ALL IN AN EMERGENCY.
CPSC:I1540378A. 2014 FORD EXPLORER. CONSUMER STATED THE HEAD LIGHTS ON THE VEHICLE ARE UNSAFE TO OPERATE AT NIGHT. *LN
I HAVE A 2014 FORD EXPLORER. THE HEADLIGHTS ARE SO POOR IN OPERATION THAT IT IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE THE CAR AT NIGHT. UPON GOING ON THE INTERNET, I FOUND NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS FOR THE SAME EXACT PROBLEM OF CONSUMERS NOT BEING TO SEE SAFELY WHEN THE LAMPS ARE ON IN THE EVENING. THE FORD DEALERS SAY THAT THE CAR MEETS FORD SPECS AND THE FORD CO CUSTOMER SERVICE DEPT CONFIRMS THAT THEY HAD NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS AND THAT FORD HAS NO FIX. THIS IS INDEED A SAFETY ISSUE AND A FIX AND RECALL IS ESSENTIAL. *JS
VEHICLE WAS TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 30-35 MPH DOWN A ROAD WITH NO POT HOLES WHEN THE FRONT RIGHT LOWER CONTROL ARM BROKE IN HALF. VEHICLE LOST CONTROL AND PULLED TO THE RIGHT BRINGING THE VEHICLE INTO THE STREET CURB. DAMAGE TO THE FENDER, TIRE, WHEEL, CV JOINT, AND OTHER ASSOCIATED PARTS REPORTED. FORD DENIES WARRANTY CLAIM....05-27-15 *BF UPDATED 10/17/2017*CN
WITH RAPID ACCELERATION (GETTING ON A HIGHWAY) AN ODOR COMES INTO THE VEHICLE. IT USED TO HAVE A MORE GASOLINE LIKE SMELL, BUT WE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE SHOP AND THEY REPLACED A PART. (NOT SURE WHAT PART, BUT IT WAS NOT UNDER WARRANTY.) WE STILL HAVE THE SMELL BUT IT IS MORE CHEMICALLY NOW. THIS HAPPENS EVERY TIME WE STOMP ON THE GAS. MOSTLY IT OCCURS WHEN GETTING ON THE HIGHWAY, BUT DOES OCCUR WHEN WE PULL OUT INTO TRAFFIC ON REGULAR ROADS AND HAVE THE NEED FOR A QUICK ACCELERATION. IT TAKES SEVERAL MINUTES FOR THE ODOR TO DISSIPATE. SOMETIMES IT HAS BEEN SO STRONG MY KIDS HAVE STARTED COUGHING. THIS HAS HAPPENED THIS WE FIRST BOUGHT THE CAR. WE ORIGINALLY THOUGHT IT WAS COMING FROM OTHER VEHICLES AROUND US, BUT WHEN IT HAPPENED WITH NO VEHICLES AROUND, WE KNEW IT WAS OUR EXPLORER. I THOUGHT IT WAS JUST US UNTIL SOMEONE MENTIONED THEIR PROBLEM TO MY HUSBAND AND NOW I SEE MANY PEOPLE ARE HAVING THIS SAME ISSUE.
I PURCHASED MY VEHICLE USED IN 2016. AFTER A MONTH I NOTICED A VERY STRONG SMELL OF PROPANE. I HAVE SINCE TAKEN IT TO 2 SHOPS, ONE WHICH SPECIALIZES IN FORDS, AND NEITHER HAVE EVER HEARD IF THE PROBLEM OCCURRING IN OTHER FORDS NOR DID THEY FIND ANY ISSUES WITH THE EXHAUST. THE ODOR IS OVERWHELMING. TODAY A FRIEND SENT ME THE LINK FROM A STORY ON THIS ISSUE THAT CBS HAD RUN YESTERDAY. I'M GLAD TO KNOW THAT THIS IS NOT ONLY HAPPENING TO MY VEHICLE AND HOPE THAT THERE IS A FIX FOR IT AS MY ENTIRE FAMILY HAS BECOME NAUSEOUS SEVERAL TIMES WHILE RIDING IN THE CAR.
EXHAUST SMELL IN CABIN. WE EXPERIENCE A STRONG ODOR IN THE CABIN WHEN ACCELERATING, TYPICALLY WHILE GETTING ONTO A HIGHWAY OR PASSING. IT MAKES NO DIFFERENCE IF THE WINDOWS ARE OPEN OR THE AC IS ON. WE DON'T DRIVE THIS VEHICLE VERY MUCH TO DATE WE HAVE 28000 MILES ON IT.
PROBLEM WITH GAS LEAK GO TO THE INTERIOR OF THE CARD.
RECENTLY, MY WIFE AND I NOTICED AN EXHAUST SMELL IN THE CABIN OF OUR 2014 FORD EXPLORER (8K MILES) WHEN WE ACCELERATED ONTO HIGHWAYS. WE BROUGHT THE VEHICLE TO FORD AND THEY TOLD US THERE WAS A BULLETIN OUT ON THE EXHAUST ISSUE. THE EXPLORER LOANER THEY GAVE US HAD THE PROBLEM WORSE THAN OURS SO I ASKED FOR SOMETHING DIFFERENT TO DRIVE. WHEN WE GOT THE EXPLORER BACK, I STILL NOTICED THE PROBLEM AND BROUGHT IT BACK TO FORD. THEY INSISTED THAT THERE WAS NO PROBLEM SO I WENT TO MY LOCAL FIRE DEPARTMENT AND BORROWED A CARBON MONOXIDE METER AND DROVE THE CAR ON THE HIGHWAY FOR ONE MILE AFTER TESTING VARIOUS LOCATIONS INSIDE THE CABIN (FOR ABOUT 10 MINUTES WHILE IDLING). OVER ONE MILE THE CARBON MONOXIDE LEVEL IN THE CABIN INCREASED FROM 0 TO 6 PARTS PER MILLION (PPM). AFTER DISCOVERING THE DANGEROUS SITUATION I BROUGHT THE VEHICLE BACK TO FORD WHO HAS NOW HAD THE VEHICLE FOR RIGHT AT 3 WEEKS AND WILL NOT RETURN MY PHONE CALLS OR UPDATE ME ON THE ISSUE. I AM POSTING THIS SO THAT ANYONE WHO READS THIS CAN INVESTIGATE THIS POSSIBLE SERIOUS HEALTH ISSUE FOR THEMSELVES. IF YOU ACCELERATE THE VEHICLE AND SMELL EXHAUST, TAKE THE VEHICLE INTO THE DEALERSHIP TO HAVE THE PROBLEM FIXED. IF YOU SMELL EXHAUST IT IS STILL GETTING INTO THE CABIN AND IS VERY DANGEROUS TO YOUR HEALTH. I AM VERY CONCERNED FORD HAS NOT RECALLED ANY VEHICLES (2011-2014) TO MAKE SURE PEOPLE ARE NOT DRIVING AROUND WITH DANGEROUS EXHAUST FUMES IN THE VEHICLE. I HAVE TALKED TO OTHER EXPLORER OWNERS AROUND TOWN AND AT GAS STATIONS AND THEY HAVE NOTICED THIS AS WELL. I USED A CALIBRATED CO METER AND HAVE PICTURES OF THE READINGS.
WHEN MY HUSBAND CLOSED THE HOOD IT DENTED. ONE SHOULD HAVE A REASONABLE EXPECTATION THAT WHEN YOU CLOSE THE HOOD THAT THE METAL WILL NOT BEND. I BELIEVE THAT THE ALUMINUM THAT THEY ARE USING IS OF TOO THIN/ INFERIOR GRADE. I WOULD HATE TO SEE WHAT WOULD HAPPEN IF THERE WAS AN ACCIDENT IF THE HOOD COULD BEND SO EASILY FROM JUST CLOSING THE HOOD. *TR
SMELL EXHAUST IN CABIN UNDER ACCELERATION WITH HVAC SYSTEM ON ESPECIALLY IN RECIRCULATE MODE. VEHICLE HAS BEEN TO DEALERSHIP 5 TIMES WITH THE CURRENT SERVICE BULLETINS PERFORMED AND CAN STILL SMELL EXHAUST IN THE CABIN. THE VEHICLE WAS UNDER WARRANTY WHEN FIRST REPORTED AND THE ISSUE NOT RESOLVED AND FORD SAYS THAT'S ALL THEY CAN DO.
2014 FORD EXPLORER PURCHASED USED FROM FORD DEALERSHIP, WHEN YOU ACCELERATE TO GET ON HIGHWAY OR GO AROUND A SLOWER DRIVER THERE IS A STRONG SMELL THAT COME INTO THE PASSENGER CABIN, I ASSUME FROM THE A/C VENTS. DEALERSHIP TOLD ME IT WAS AN ISSUE THEY COULD FIX & HAD MY AUTO FOR 3 DAYS & IT IS NOT SOLVED. ALSO TOLD ME TO ONLY RUN MY A/C ON RE CERT AS NOT TO PULL IN OUTSIDE EXHAUST FUMES FROM PASSING AUTOS. THIS IS NOT THE CASE IT HAPPENS EVERY TIME NO MATTER WHAT IS OR IS NOT RUNNING IN THE VEHICLE. I GET HEADACHE FROM IT - LEARNED TO ROLL WINDOWS DOWN WHEN ACCELERATING OR RIGHT AFTER. THIS IS SCARY SINCE WE ARE TRAVELING ON A LONG ROAD TRIP W/GRAND CHILDREN THIS SUMMER. I READ SEVERAL THINGS ABOUT CLASS ACTION SUIT -I MAY NEED TO JOIN THAT SINCE FORD SEEMS TO DO NOTHING. IF THIS IS CARBON MONOXIDE WHO HAS TO DIE BEFORE SOMEONE TAKES ACTION & MAKES THEM DO THE RIGHT THING.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 FORD EXPLORER. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THERE WAS AN ODOR OF EXHAUST FUMES/CARBON MONOXIDE COMING THROUGH THE VENTS IN THE VEHICLE. THE DRIVER BECAME DROWSY WHILE DRIVING. MEDICAL ATTENTION WAS REQUIRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE EXHAUST ODOR REMAINED PERMANENTLY IN THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO ALL STAR FORD (3800 CENTURY WAY, PITTSBURG, CA 94565) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THERE WAS AN EXHAUST LEAK IN THE CABIN THAT NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT UNDER WARRANTY. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER AND WAS INFORMED THAT THEY WOULD GET BACK WITH HIM WITHIN TWO BUSINESS DAYS. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 16,000.
SINCE THE EXPLORER WAS PURCHASED NEW IN 2014, WE HAVE EXPERIENCED STRONG EXHAUST FUMES IN THE CABIN AREA AFTER ACCELERATION IN EXCESS OF 3000 RPMS. OVER A YEAR AGO, DURING A ROUTINE SERVICE VISIT TO A FORD DEALERSHIP, THE TECHNICIAN ADVISED US THAT FORD WAS RECOMMENDING A SOLUTION INVOLVING PLACING "PATCHES" OM THE EXHAUST SYSTEM. WE AGREED FOR THE PROCEDURE TO BE DONE AND AFTER THAT DID NOT EXPERIENCE THE PROBLEM AGAIN UNTIL THE LAST TWO MONTHS. IF BEFORE ACCELERATING, THE VENT AND AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM IS COMPLETELY SHUT OFF UNTIL ACCELERATION IS COMPLETED AND APPROXIMATELY 5 MILES HAVE BEEN TRAVELED, THE ODOR IS NOT DETECTED. WE HAVE DESCRIBED THE REOCCURRENCE OF THE PROBLEM TO THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP AND THEY HAVE CHECKED THE PATCHES AND REPORTED THAT THEY ARE STILL INTACT. THEY CANNOT OFFER ANY OTHER SOLUTION AND WE FEAR THAT THE FUMES MAY BE HAZARDOUS TO OUR HEALTH, AS WE CANNOT ALWAYS PREDICT THE NEED TO ACCELERATE.
VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED IN JAN 2014....WITHIN A SHORT TIME, I NOTICED A STRONG EXHAUST SMELL WHEN RAPIDLY ACCELERATING (@ 3500+ RPM). I ENSURED THE OUTSIDE AIR VENTS WERE CLOSED, BUT THE ODOR PERSISTED DURING ACCELERATION. SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN MOSTLY IN TOWN, I DIDN'T PAY MUCH ATTENTION. IN FEB 2015, I WAS DIAGNOSED WITH THROAT & LYMPH NODE CANCER IN THE NECK. TREATMENT CONSISTING OF SURGERY, RADIATION AND CHEMO AFFECTED MY SENSE OF SMELL (& TASTE). I FOCUSED ON IMPROVING MY HEALTH AND DIDN'T WORRY ABOUT THE SMELL.....CHOOSING TO BELIEVE FORD WOULD NOTIFY ME OF A RECALL. SINCE THIS HASN'T HAPPENED, IM FILING A COMPLAINT. MY CONCERN IS THAT THE SMELL CONTINUES. MY OTHER CONCERN IS THAT I'VE NEVER BEEN A TOBACCO USER, AND MY CANCER IS HPG IN ORIGIN (MEANING IT CAME FROM ENVIRONMENTAL TOXINS OR SOME NON TOBACCO SOURCE). IT MAKES ME QUESTION HOW THE EXPOSURE TO THE EXHAUST IMPACTED MY HEALTH. (& IF IT IS SETTING ME UP FOR A RELAPSE)
THE EMERGENCY BRAKE CONTINUES TO STICK, AFTER HAVING IT REMEDIED AND REPLACED ONCE ALREADY (2016). THE BRAKES WERE REPLACED LAST YEAR AS WELL (2016), AND THEY CONTINUE TO SQUEAK ALMOST CONSISTENTLY. IT'S IN AGAIN FOR SERVICE TODAY (8/2/17) AND THE DEALER SAID THEY CONTINUE TO SEE ISSUES WITH THE BRAKES STICKING ON 2014 FORD EXPLORERS. THE BRAKES SQUEAKING HAVE BEEN AN ISSUE SINCE JANUARY 2015.
WHEN YOU ACCELERATE AT HIGHER SPEEDS IE ON THE FREEWAY THE CAR IS FILLED WITH EXHAUST SMELL.
MY USED 2014 EXPLORER SPORT THAT WAS BOUGHT IN OCTOBER OF 2014 WITH LESS THAN 8000 MILES KEEPS TELLING ME THE TRANSMISSION IS NOT IN PARK WHEN IT CLEARLY IS. THIS USE TO HAPPEN ON OCCASION BUT NOW IT IS CONSTANT. I HAVE ALSO HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE INSTRUMENT PANEL ON DASHBOARD JUST GOING BLACK WHEN DRIVING. IT REALLY DOESN'T HAVE TO BE ANY SPEED. THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES AND IT CAN BE KIND OF SCARY ESPECIALLY WHEN DRIVING ON FREEWAY IN HEAVY TRAFFIC. MY WINDSHIELD WIPER BLADES (LESS THAN A YEAR OLD) ACT LIKE THE ARE GOING TO FLY OFF THE CAR WHEN TURNED ON. THE WIPERS JUST DON'T SEEM LIKE THEY ARE ATTACHED RIGHT. BUT THEY ARE AND I HAVE REPLACED THEM WITH FORD RECOMMENDED PARTS MORE THAN ONCE. THE MOST ANNOYING PROBLEM WITH THE CAR IS THE EXHAUST SMELL THAT IS ALWAYS THERE. I THOUGHT IS WAS JUST ME BEING OVERLY SENSITIVE TO ODORS. BUT I NOTICED OTHERS COMPLAINING OF THE ODOR AS WELL. THE ODOR COMES ALL THE TIME. THERE REALLY IS NOT DISTINCT RPM WHEN IT HAPPENS IT IS JUST ALWAYS THERE. I HAVE NOT TAKEN MY CAR IN FOR REPAIRS DUE TO A PREVIOUS BAD EXPERIENCE WITH A DIFFERENT VEHICLE. I CAN HANDLE ALL THE PROBLEMS WITH THE CAR BUT THE EXHAUST SMELL IS SO BAD AND GIVES ME A HEADACHE IF I'M IN THE CAR TO LONG.
I RECENTLY READ AN ARTICLE IN THE SFGATE.COM REGARDING COMPLAINTS TO THE NHTSA ASSOCIATED TO THE FORD EXPLORER AND FUME SMELLS COMING FROM THE ENGINE AND/OR EXHAUST INTO THE CAB OF THE CAR CREATING A HAZARD TYPE SITUATION FOR THE DRIVERS. I WOULD ALSO LIKE TO FILE A COMPLAINT TO BE ADDED TO THE OTHER EXISTING COMPLAINTS WITH THE NHSTA REGARDING THIS ISSUE. I PURCHASED A NEW 2014 FORD EXPLORER FROM THE HANSEL FORD DEALERSHIP IN PETALUMA. WITHIN A FEW MONTHS I BECAME AWARE OF A FUME TYPE ODOR WITHIN THE CAB IF THE VEHICLE. I CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP AND STARTED TRYING TO IDENTIFY AND RESOLVE THE ISSUE. THE FUMES WERE CAUSING DIZZINESS AND NAUSEA ON LONG DRIVES. PASSENGERS ALSO COMPLAINED OF THE FUME ODOR. AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS TO THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT WITH THE CAR OUT OF SERVICE AND MANY MONTHS THERE WAS NO SOLUTION. UNSATISFIED I DECIDED TO FILE A COMPLAINT WITH THE BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU IN 2014 FOR THE FUME SMELL ALONG WITH SOME UNRELATED ISSUES. I WAS FORWARDED TO ARBITRATION WHERE IT WAS JUDGED BY THE ARBITRATOR THAT NO ACTION WAS TO BE TAKEN. I CURRENTLY STILL OWN THE FORD EXPLORER AND EXPERIENCE FUME SMELLS. AS MENTIONED ABOVE I WOULD ALSO LIKE TO FILE A COMPLAINT IN REGARD TO THIS FUME ISSUE. I CAN PROVIDED SUPPORTING DOCUMENTATION IF NEEDED. PLEASE CONTACT ME DIRECTLY. THANK YOU.
UPON ACCELERATION, THE INTERIOR OF THE VEHICLE BEGINS TO SMELL LIKE ROTTEN EGG. I HAVE NOTICED IT FOR AWHILE AND ASSUMED IT WAS A SMELL COMING FROM OUTSIDE. I BEGIN TO TAKE NOTE OF IT ONLY HAPPENING UPON ACCELERATION. I HAVE INFORMED THE DEALERSHIP WHERE PURCHASED AND THEY INFORMED ME THAT FORD IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM BUT THAT THERE IS NO REPAIR/FIX FOR IT. UPON FURTHER RESEARCH, OTHER PEOPLE HAVE THE SAME COMPLAINT AND THAT IT IS CARBON MONOXIDE, WHICH IS TOXIC. AWFUL ODOR COMING INTO THE CAR - SMELLS LIKE EXHAUST OR SOMETHING ROTTEN. I GET TERRIBLE HEADACHES AND WILL GET SLEEPY WHILE DRIVING. FOUND MYSELF BOBBING MY HEAD ALMOST FALLING ASLEEP. THE HEADACHES WILL LAST AFTER I STOP DRIVING THE CAR. BEEN GOING ON FOR CLOSE TO 2 YEARS. MAINLY HAPPENS ON HIGHWAY DRIVING (WHICH I DRIVE 270 EVERYDAY TO WORK).
AFTER HIGHER THROTTLE USE FOR ACCELERATION, THERE IS NOTICABLE EXHAUST ODOR IN THE CABIN. THIS DISSIPATES AFTER A FEW MINUTES OF NORMAL DRIVING AND VENTING WITH THE WINDOWS DOWN. CITY OR HIGHWAY SPEEDS. NOTICED AFTER PURCHASING VEHICLE 12/2014. PERSONAL RESEARCH HAS FOUND THAT FORD'S TSB'S HAVE NOT SOLVED THE ISSUE FOR PEOPLE HAVING THE TSB WORK DONE.
SMELL EXHAUST FUMES INSIDE OF SUV AT DIFFERENT TIMES. SMELL OCCURS WHEN PUSHING ON THE GAS. CAR IS IN MOTION ON ANY TYPE OF STREET OR HIGHWAY. DEALERSHIP RECOMMEND REPLACING THE POWER TRANSFER UNIT($1,800) NO CHANGE. STILL HAVE SMELL

THE FAILURE RECURRED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS INVALID. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 16,000.
SOMETIMES WHEN DRIVING THE VEHICLE, I SMELL EXHAUST FUMES IN THE VEHICLE CABIN. THIS OCCURS RANDOMLY. I NOTICE IT MORE FREQUENTLY WHEN ACCELERATING BETWEEN SPEEDS UPWARDS OF, AND ABOVE 45/50 MPH AND MOSTLY ON THE HIGHWAYS. THE VEHICLE IS SERVICED REGULARLY AS PER FORD'S RECOMMENDATION BY THE SAME DEALER WHERE IT WAS BOUGHT IN NOVEMBER 2013 WITH 0 MILES ON IT. THIS HAS BEEN ONGOING SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS BOUGHT.
EXHAUST SMELL COMING IN THRU AC/HEATER SYSTEM ESPECIALLY WHEN EXCELLERATING OR JUST DRIVING NORMAL. IT ALWAYS HAPPENS WHEN AC/ HEATER IS NOT ON. THE FORD DEALER HAS TRIED 3 X TO FIX FOR ME AND EVEN CONTACTED FORDS MAIN OFFICE FOR COMPLAINTS OR ISSUES THE LOCALS CAN'T FIGURE OUT OR FIX BUT GOT KNOW I OUT ON HIS TO RECTIFY ISSUE. I NOTICED IT AFTER FIRST BUYING CAR 11/2014 BUT THOUGHT IT WAS JUST COMING FROM CAR IN FRONT IF ME. THEN I NOTICED IT WHEN ON ROAD ALL ALONE.

THE HEADLIGHTS ON MY 2014 FORD EXPLORER SPORT DO NOT SAFELY LIGHT UP THE ROAD AT NIGHT ON A ROAD WITH NO STREET LIGHTS. THE LOW BEAMS PROJECT A BLACK LINE FROM LEFT TO RIGHT APPROXIMATELY 6 INCHES ABOVE THE DASHBOARD. THERE IS ALSO NO LIGHT ON EITHER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE WHEN MAKING A RIGHT OR LEFT TURN. LAST WEEK I ALMOST RAN INTO A DITCH BECAUSE I DID NOT HAVE ENOUGH LIGHT TO SEE THE ROAD. I SPOKE TO MY FORD DEALER AND THEY RESPONDED THEY KNOW OF THE PROBLEM BUT FORD HAS NOT SENT OUT A MAINTENANCE BULLETIN OR A RECALL. I CALLED FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE AND THEY RESPONDED THEY WOULD MAKE NOTE OF THIS ISSUE AND WOULD USE IT TO ENHANCE NEXT YEARS MODEL. I RESPONDED THAT THEY NEED TO FIX THIS YEARS MODEL. THE HEADLIGHTS THIS YEAR (2014) ARE NEW. THEY USE A PROJECTOR SYSTEM WHICH IS NOT WORKING. I BELIEVE THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN AND A RECALL SHOULD BE ISSUED TO CONVERT THE NEW LIGHTS BACK TO THE OLD STYLE LIGHTS. *TR
VEHICLE IS EMITTING CARBON MONOXIDE AND OTHER DANGEROUS FUMES INTO CABIN AFTER ACCELERATION. CAUSING MY ASTHMA TO FLAIR. MY WIFE AND KIDS HAVE HEADACH WHEN IN CAR WITH ME. I BEEN HAVING BREATHING ISSUE SINCE I PURCHASED THE CAR.
WHILE VEHICLE WAS IN THE SHOP FOR PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE, THE TECHNICIAN NOTICED THAT THE LEFT TAILLIGHT ASSEMBLY WAS ABOUT A THIRD FULL OF WATER. THE LIGHT ASSEMBLY WAS REMOVED FROM THE VEHICLE AND WAS ROTATED IN VARIOUS DIRECTIONS IN AN ATTEMPT TO FIND WHERE THE WATER HAD ENTERED THE LIGHT. WHAT WE FOUND WAS A POORLY WELDED PLASTIC SEAM AT THE TOP EDGE OF THE LIGHT ASSEMBLY. WE APPROACHED FORD WITH THE ISSUE AND WERE INFORMED THAT BECAUSE EMERGENCY LIGHTING HAD BEEN ADDED, THEY WOULD NOT WARRANTY THE LIGHT EVEN THOUGH THE EMERGENCY LIGHT WAS NOT THE SOURCE OF THE LEAK. THIS VEHICLE IS OPERATED BY A POLICE DEPARTMENT. WE HAVE HAD ANOTHER FAILURE (UPPER SEAM LEAK) ON ANOTHER POLICE UNIT,SAME YEAR, THAT RESULTED IN THE LOSE OF FUNCTION OF THE LEFT TAILLIGHT ASSEMBLY DUE TO THE LED LIGHTING MODULE SHORTING OUT AFTER THE LIGHT HAD FILLED HALFWAY WITH WATER. WE FEEL THIS COULD BE A SAFETY ISSUE DUE THE POTENTIAL FOR REDUCED VISIBLE STOPLIGHTS AND TAILLIGHTS ON THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. *TR
TWICE WHILE DRIVING (ONCE ACCELERATING TO PULL INTO TRAFFIC AND ONCE GOING UP A MOUNTAIN) AN EXHAUST SMELL ENTERED THE CABIN THROUGH THE AC SYSTEM AND RECIRCULATING MODE DID NOT IMPROVE IT. THE VEHICLE WAS ACCELERATING OVER 3500 RPMS. I HAVE TESTED THIS AGAIN AND AGAIN AND IT HAPPENS EVERY TIME UNDER THESE CONDITIONS. I AM VERY CONCERNED AS WE JUST BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE A COUPLE OF MONTHS AGO AND HAVE TWO YOUNG DAUGHTERS. STRONG ODOR OF EXHAUST FUMES ENTERING THE CABIN WHEN ACCELERATING. VERY CONCERNED WITH DIVER AND PASSENGERS SAFETY. THIS HAS BEEN OCCURRING SINCE IT WAS NEW. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER OVER A YEAR AGO AND THEY PERFORMED A REPAIR THAT DID NOT RESOLVE THE ISSUE. THEY THEN TOLD ME FORD WAS WORKING ON A FIX AND SOMEONE WOULD CONTACT ME. I HAVE YET TO BE CONTACT AND VERY CONCERNED WITH CONSTANT EXPOSURE TO THE EXHAUST FUMES. THE NEED TO TAKE THIS SERIOUSLY AND GIVE IT A PRIORITY TO FIX THIS PROBLEM AS I SEE THERE IS A LOT OF PEOPLE COMPLAINING OF THE SAME ISSUE.
I HAVE A 2014 FORD EXPLORER SPORT AND WHENEVER THE VEHICLE ACCELERATES IT SEVERELY PULLS TO THE LEFT. THE VEHICLE WITH TRACK STRAIGHT UNTIL YOU STEP ON THE GAS AND IT PULLS SEVERELY TO THE LEFT REQUIRING ME TO COMPENSATE BY WHILE DRIVING. I ADVISED THE DEALERSHIP ON 10-8-14, 10-18-14, 12-4-14, ON A MARCH OIL CHANGE WITH FORD, 1-7-15 AND 5-18-15.THE DEALERSHIPS INITIALLY DENIED THE CAR HAD ANY ISSUES THAT WERE ABNORMAL BUT EVENTUALLY THEY ADMITTED IT DOES PULL TO THE LEFT BUT IT WAS NORMAL ACCORDING TO THE FORD ENGINEERS AND NOTHING COULD BE DONE TO CORRECT IT SINCE IT WAS A NATURAL CHARACTERISTIC OF THE VEHICLE. I DID NOT AGREE SINCE I HAVE DRIVEN OTHER VEHICLES OF THE SAME MAKE AND MODEL THAT DID NOT PERFORM THE SAME AS MY VEHICLE DOES. I ALSO SPOKE TO VARIOUS FORD SERVICE TECHNICIANS THAT INDICATED THEY HAD NEVER ENCOUNTERED THIS ISSUE AND THEY ASSUMED THAT IT COULDN'T BE TORQUE STEER SINCE THE INTELLIGENT 4 WHEEL DRIVE SHOULD CORRECT ANY WHEELS THAT WERE NOT SPINNING AT THE SAME SPEED AS THE OTHERS CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO PULL IN ONE DIRECTION OR THE OTHER. HOWEVER, THE DEALERSHIP INDICATED THEY COULD ONLY GO BY WHAT THE CORPORATE ENGINEERS ADVISED THEM AND THAT WAS THAT THE ISSUE WAS NORMAL DESPITE THE VEHICLE BEING RATED FOR A MAXIMUM TOWING CAPACITY OF 5,000 POUNDS. I ALSO HAVEN'T BEEN GIVEN AN EXPLANATION ON WHY THE LEFT TIRES ON MY VEHICLE ARE WORN OUT ONLY ON THE OUTSIDE OF THE TIRE EXACTLY IN THE DIRECTION THE CAR IS PULLING TO. THE SEVER PULLING TO THE LEFT IS NOT A MINOR THINK AND THE CAR WILL MOVE BY THE FEET TO THE LEFT VEERING OUT OF THE LANE UNLESS I COMPENSATE WHILE STEERING, YET IT DRIVES ABSOLUTELY STRAIGHT IF I LET OFF THE GAS AND I CAN'T IMAGINE TOWING ANYTHING BEHIND THIS VEHICLE WITH THESE ABNORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS.

A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 7,000.

WE REPORTED THE ODOR TO THE DEALERSHIP AND TURNED THE VEHICLE IN FOR REPAIR. DEALERSHIP WAS UNABLE TO RECREATE THE ORDER SO NOTHING WAS DONE. A FEW MONTHS LATER, UNDER SIMILAR CIRCUMSTANCES, THE ODOR RETURNED. ONCE AGAIN, WE TURNED THE VEHICLE IN FOR REPAIR. THE DEALER PERFORMED A REPAIR BASED ON A TSB. A FEW MONTHS LATER, THE ODOR RETURNED AND ONCE AGAIN TURNED THE VEHICLE IN FOR REPAIR. THE DEALER PERFORMED A CONTINUATION OF THE SAME TSB. A FEW MONTHS LATER, WHILE PULLING A BOAT, THE ODOR RETURNED. ONCE AGAIN, WE TURNED THE VEHICLE IN FOR REPAIR. THE DEALER OWNER AND THE SERVICE TECH DROVE THE VEHICLE FOR SEVERAL DAYS AND WERE UNABLE TO DETECT THE SMELL. THE VERY NEXT DAY WHILE PULLING THE BOAT, THE ODOR RETURNED. THE DEALER NOW SAYS THEY DON'T WANT TO PERFORM THE LAST PART OF THE TSB BECAUSE IF THEY SEND FORD A PART THAT'S NOT DEFECTIVE, FORD WILL CHARGE THEM BACK FOR THE PART....MEANWHILE I'M STUCK DRIVING A VEHICLE THAT MAY BE PUTTING SULFUR AND/OR CARBON MONOXIDE INTO THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT. THE DEALER WANTS ME TO BRING MY BOAT AND VEHICLE IN SO THEY CAN TEST IT WHICH ISN'T GOING TO HAPPEN BECAUSE IF THEY WRECK THE VEHICLE WITH THE BOAT, MY INSURANCE HAS TO COVER IT THROUGH THE PERMISSIVE USE CLAUSE AND MY RATES WILL GO UP.
EXHAUST FUMES THERE IS AN EXHAUST TYPE ODOR NOTICED IN THE VEHICLE WHEN RELEASING THE GAS PEDAL AFTER ACCELERATING.
WHEN ACCELERATING HARD, EXHAUST FUMES BLOW INTO THE CABIN FROM THE AC. CALLED THE DEALERSHIP WITHIN A MONTH AFTER BUYING THE VEHICLE AND WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS BECAUSE THE CAR/ENGINE WAS NEW. I'D NEVER OWNED A NEW CAR BEFORE SO I TOOK THEIR WORD FOR IT. HOWEVER, AFTER THE ISSUE KEPT REOCCURING FOR 8+ MONTHS, I BROUGHT THE EXPLORER TO THE DEALERSHIP AND TOLD THEM I WANTED IT CHECKED OUT. I WAS INFORMED THAT NOTHING WAS WRONG AND I COULD TRY USING A FUEL ADDITIVE TO HELP CLEAN THE ENGINE. ANY TIME I ACCELERATE HARD, I PRETTY MUCH JUST HAVE TO ROLL DOWN THE WINDOW OR I'LL START GETTING LIGHT HEADED. IT HAS REACHED THE POINT THAT I'M NOW LOOKING TO GET A NEW VEHICLE. AFTER GETTING HOME I DID A QUICK GOOGLE SEARCH AND WAS SHOCKED TO FIND MANY OTHER PEOPLE HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM AND THERE IS EVEN A LAWSUIT FILED AGAINST FORD OVER IT. THE HEADLIGHTS ON THIS EXPLORER WERE DESIGNED SO THAT IF YOU ARE ON A DARK ROAD YOU CAN'T SEE MORE THAN 3 FEET IN FRONT OF YOU AND NOTHING ON THE SIDES. IT'S LIKE DRIVING IN THE DARK. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY SAID IT WAS A DESIGN FLAW. I THINK THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS, AND SCARY, ESPECIALLY SINCE I LIVE IN COLORADO. I LEFT WITH THEM NOT BEING ABLE TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. EVERY TIME I DRIVE MY 2014 EXPLORER I AM HAVING AN ISSUE WITH A HORRIBLE EXHAUST SMELL THAT IS RECIRCULATING BACK INTO THE VEHICLE.
