WHEN STOPPED FOR THE AT LEAST THE DURATION OF A STOP LIGHT, WHILE IN DRIVE WITH BRAKE PEDAL COMPRESSED, CAR WILL SOMETIMES DROP IN RPMS AND ALSO ATTEMPT TO ACCELERATE FORWARD.
WHEN DRIVING AT LOW SPEEDS, BELOW 30 MPH, STEERING BECOMES DIFFICULT AND WHEN TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL AND RELEASING IT COMING OUT OF A TURN, THE STEERING WHEEL GETS STUCK BEFORE IT RETURNS TO THE STRAIGHT POSITION. WHEN DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS, THE STEERING WHEEL IS VERY DIFFICULT TO TURN, ALMOST AS IF THE POWER STEERING HAS STOPPED WORKING. HOWEVER, NORMALLY AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS, NO POWER STEERING IS NOT AN ISSUE, BUT BECAUSE THIS MODEL HAS AN ELECTRIC POWER STEERING MOTOR, IT SEEMS THAT THE ELECTRIC MOTOR FIGHTS THE OPERATOR AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. THE RESISTANCE FELT WHILE TRYING TO STEER AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS IS VERY SEVERE AND ALMOST CAUSED AN ACCIDENT, AND THE RESISTANCE OF THE STEERING WHEEL TO GO BACK TO STRAIGHT AT LOWER SPEEDS IS ALSO SEVERE.

The local authorized dealer was contacted and made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not yet diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.
The contact owns a 2015 Ford Explorer. The contact stated while his son was driving 40 MPH, the accelerator pedal was depressed and an abnormal sulfur odor was detected in the cabin of the vehicle. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact's son drove the vehicle to his residence. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and an unknown manufacturer’s recall repair was performed. The contact stated that the sulfur odor was still present while driving the vehicle. The vehicle was not taken back to the dealer to be diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 92,000.
Power train and control is bad
The contact owns a 2015 Ford Explorer. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 60 MPH, the driver's side B-pillar trim detached from the vehicle. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or the dealer. The local dealer was contacted and confirmed there was no open recall related to the failure. Vehicle has parking lights illuminated and not daytime running lights (headlamps). Illegal in most states and ans very dangerous at low light conditions! Ford engineers claim they cannot reconfigure after 6 months of attempting to do so. Major safety issue and legal issue if there is ever an accident involving death.
FORD EXPLORER 2015 4WD (79,000 KM), CURRENTLY NOT COVERED BY WARRANTY OR RECALL. ON MARCH 2020 WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS UNDER WARRANTEE WITH 70,000 KM, I'VE EXPLAINED TO FORD DEALER THAT THERE IS STEERING PROBLEM APPEARED SUDDENLY WHEN DRIVING, THEY MADE COMPUTER AND TECHNICAL CHECK BUT NO CODE ARISE, THEREFORE, THEY INFORMED ME THAT NOTHING FOUND AND IT MAY NOT REPEATED AGAIN. ON JANUARY 2021 (THE VEHICLE BECAME OUT OF WARRANTY) - 76,440 KM, THE SAME PROBLEM APPEARED WITH WARNING LIGHTS SHOWN SUDDENLY (TERRAIN MANAGEMENT SYSTEM FAULT, SSERVICE ADVANCE TRAC, POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT) 'THIS HAPPENED APPARENTLY AND SUDDENLY WHILE DRIVING ON HIGHWAY AS THE STEERING SUDDENLY STOP WORKING AND MOVING AND I COULDN'T CONTROL THE CAR AND WAS ABOUT TO HAVE A HORRIBLE ACCIDENT. I'VE HARDLY STOPPED THE CAR ASIDE SWITCH-OFF AND RESTART IT THE PROBLEM DISAPPEARED AND SEND IT TO THE DEALER WHO IN TURN CHECKED AGAIN AND INFORMED THAT NO FAULT IS DETECTED DESPITE SHOWING THE RECORDED VIDEO TO THEM OF THE SAID PROBLEM. THE SAME PROBLEM HAPPENS SUDDENLY MANY TIMES WHILE DRIVING, IT HAS APPEARED RECENTLY AT 79,000 KM (KINDLY SEE THE ATTACHED SNAPSHOTS). TILL NOW, I DON'T KNOW HOW TO ACT AS I'M SPENDING A LOT MONEY FOR CAR CHECK TO FORD WITH NO OUTCOME WHEREAS FORD MANUFACTURER IS NOT ABLE TO DETECT THIS FATAL DANGEROUS DEFECT, AND ALSO IT'S NOT COVERED BY RECALL DESPITE BEING VERY DANGEROUS ON PEOPLE'S LIVES.
MY 2015 EXPLORER'S POWER STEERING HAS WENT OUT. I ALSO HAD A 2016 EXPLORER THAT THE SAME THING HAPPENED TO. I HAD A WARRANTY ON THE 2016 MODEL SO THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE STEERING RACK AND PINION ON IT. BUT MY 2015 MODEL IS MY HUSBAND'S ONLY VEHICLE TO DRIVE TO WORK AND WE DO NOT HAVE 2500$ TO GET IT FIXED. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE! THERE HAVE BEEN SO MANY PEOPLE WITH THE SAME ISSUE I CAN'T UNDERSTAND WHY THERE ISN'T A RECALL FOR SUCH A DANGEROUS EXPENSIVE PROBLEM.
RACK AND PINION STEERING HAS GONE BAD. CLICKING SOUND WHEN TURNING AND STEERING UNSTABLE. FEELS VERY UNSAFE AT ANY SPEED.
I NOTICED THAT I STARTED TO FEEL LIGHT HEADED AND WENT TO MY DOCTOR. AT FIRST IT WAS THOUGHT TO BE MY ALLERGIES. THE CONDITION ONLY WORSENED TO THE POINT WHERE I COULD NOT STAND WITHOUT GETTING DIZZY. I COULD NOT WORK AND HAD RINGING AND LOSS OF HEARING IN MY ONE EAR. IT WAS AROUND THIS TIME THAT I STARTED TO NOTICE A SULFUR SMELL COMING FROM MY VEHICLE. THE MORE I DROVE THE CAR, THE WORSE THE SMELL GOT TO THE POINT WHERE YOU COULD NOT DRIVE THE CAR. I LOOKED INTO THE SITUATION AFTER SPEAKING WITH MY STEP FATHER WHO IS A MECHANIC AND HE REPORTED AN ISSUE WITH EXPLORERS. I TOOL TO THE DEALER AND THEY SAID IT WAS A DIFFERENT ISSUE AND THAT THE WARRANTY HAD JUST RUN OUT. I CONTACTED FORD WHO SAID THEY WOULD FOLLOW UP AND DID NOT. I CALLED THEM BACK AND THEY ARE STATING THAT THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO. NO WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON IN THE CAR AND IF I WOULD NOT HAVE HAD MY SENSE OF SMELL I COULD NOT HAVE BEEN ABLE TO FIGURE OUT WHAT WAS GOING ON AND COULD HAVE INJURED OR KILLED MYSELF OR OTHERS FOR THEIR FAULTY VEHICLE. I UNDERSTAND THAT VEHICLES BREAK DOWN, BUT THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE AND THEY DID NOT ISSUE A RECALL. THE SAFETY CONCERN IS STILL THERE AND I COULD HAVE KILLED MYSELF OR OTHERS BECAUSE OF THEIR NEGLIGENCE AND LACK OF CONCERN FOR THE SAFETY OF THEIR CUSTOMERS.
POWER STEERING HAS GONE OUT IN MY EXPLORER WITH ONLY 62K MILES. HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT IT IS THE STEERING RACK AND PINION THAT NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. MY STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP GOING 35 MPH IN NORMAL TRAFFIC AND I ALMOST HIT ONCOMING TRAFFIC. HUNDREDS OR EVEN THOUSANDS OF OTHER PEOPLE ARE HAVING THIS PROBLEM! FORD IS LUCKY THAT MY TWO SMALL CHILDREN WERE NOT IN THE CAR WHEN THIS HAPPENED. THERE REALLY NEEDS TO BE REVIEW ON THESE CARS AND A RECALL BE MADE BEFORE SOMEONE DIES!
7 MONTHS AGO STARTED HEARING A GRINDING SOUND WHENEVER I TURN THE CAR AND REPORTED IT TO THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT OF THE FORD DEALER WHEN I HAD MY OIL CHANGE. THEY REPORTED THAT THEY FOUND NOTHING WRONG. HOWEVER THE ISSUE CONTINUES AND IS OCCURRING MORE FREQUENTLY. YESTERDAY I BROUGHT TO THE DEALER FOR AN OIL CHANGE AND REPORTED THE THE SAME PROBLEM. THIS TIME THEY SAID THAT MY RACK AND PINION STEERING NEEDS TO BE CHANGED A THE COST OF $2500. THIS IS UNEXPECTED AS I'VE NEVER OWNED A CAR THAT HAD A THIS PROBLEM. ALTHOUGH I HAVE 100K MILES IN IT, ALL OF IT IS FROM FREEWAY DRIVING. NOW WHEN I RESEARCHED THIS ISSUE AND IT IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS VEHICLE. THE DEALER THAT I GO TO MUST KNOW THIS IAND REASSURED ME THAT THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH MY VEHICLE WHEN I FIRST LET THEM KNOW A FEW MONTHS AGO, I THINKS THEY WERE NEGLIGENT IN LETTING ME KNOW AND AT THE VERY LEAST WARNED ME OF WHAT COULD HAPPEN. NOW I HESITATE TO DRIVE THIS VEHICLE FOR SAFETY REASONS. GOOD THING I HAVE NOT HAD ANY STEERING ISSUES WHILE ON THE ROAD. BUT FOR SOME UNKNOWING DRIVER, A FROZEN STEERING WHEEL COULD SPELL DISASTER.
THE HIGHWAY WHILE ON THE HIGHWAY. I WAS DRIVING. AND THE CAR SUDDENLY HAD NO WAS ON EVERYTHI PULL OVER BUT I HAD TO PULL OVER. BECAUSE. THE CAR DIDN'T SHUT OFF, BUT I STEPPED ON THE PEDAL AND THERE WAS NO POWER. SO I PUL THE ROAD TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. AND TURNED THE CAR OFF. I STARTED IT BACK UP AND DID FINE AND WENT HOME. BUT THIS WAS DANGEROUS. IT HAPPENED AGAIN. WHEN I WAS AT A RED LIGHT, IT TURNED GREEN. I STEPPED ON THE PEDAL AND THE CAR DID NOT MOVE. I THINK IT'S SOMETHING IN ELECTRICAL OR THROTTLEL NOT SURE.
ON 03/31/2021 I TOOK MY 2015 EXPLORER IN FOR AN ALIGNMENT AFTER I REPLACED THE TWO FRONT STRUTS DUE TO A LOUD INTERMITTENT POPPING NOISE WHEN STEERING THE VEHICLE LEFT AND RIGHT AT LOW SPEED. THE POPPING NOISE HAS EXISTED SINCE I PURCHASED THE CAR A MONTH AGO. THE CAR WAS ALIGNED AT BILL BROWN FORD, AND I HAD THEM INSPECT THE VEHICLE TO FIND THE SOUND. THE YOUNG TECHNICIAN WAS NOT ABLE TO IDENTIFY THE SOUND, AND SAID TO BRING THE VEHICLE BACK IF IT CONTINUES. WELL, I JUST GOT HOME AND THE STEERING STILL CLUNKS. AFTER DOING EXTENSIVE RESEARCH AND THE DEALERSHIP CONFIRMING THAT IT ISN'T THE FRONT STRUTS, I AM CONCERNED THAT THE STEERING RACK IS GOING BAD IN MY CAR. AT 58K MILES I SHOULD NOT HAVE THIS PROBLEM AND I AM CONCERNED FOR MY SAFETY. WHAT HAPPENS IF IT GOES OUT ON THE FREEWAY??? I COULD GET KILLED AND CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. WAKE UP FORD!!! THIS IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY AND YOU PEOPLE ARE PUTTING LOYAL CUSTOMERS IN HARM'S WAY. UNREAL.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO BOB TOMES FORD (950 S. CENTRAL EXPY, MCKINNEY, TX 75070) TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE STEERING RACK NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL ASSOCIATED WITH THE VIN, AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000.*DT
SUDDEN FAILURE OF THE POWER STEERING SYSTEM REQUIRING COMPLETE REPLACEMENT OF THE POWER STEERING SYSTEM. ALSO DISABLES THE FORD ADVANCE TRAC SYSTEM. OCCURRED WHILE IN MOTION AT SLOW SPEED W/ MAX SPEED OF 20 MPH. THE DEALER INDICATED THAT THE COMPUTER MODULE FAILED AND REQUIRED THE WHOLE SYSTEM TO BE REPLACED. OCCURRED IN THE PARKING LOT. NOT THE FIRST INSTANCE OF SUDDEN FAILURE, BUT USUALLY STOPPING AND RESTARTING THE CAR CLEARED SIMILAR ERROR, NO OBVIOUS SIGNS OF WAR OR LEAKS/OTHER DAMAGE. PREVIOUS CORRECTABLE INSTANCES OCCURRED IN SIMILAR CONDITIONS.
OUR INSTRUMENT PANEL AIRBAG LIGHT TURNED ON INTERMITTENTLY SINCE 2026. FORD WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE AN ISSUE UNTIL MARCH 27, 2021. THE WARNING LIGHT HAS REMAINED ILLUMINATED WHILE IN THE REPAIR SHOP. THEY FOUND A FAULT CODE AND IT IS ATTRIBUTED TO TSB 16-0001. WE ARE NOW RESPONSIBLE FOR AN ALMOST $1,000 REPAIR BILL ($150 DIAGNOSIS CHARGE AND $800+ REPAIR). THE REPAIR IS DUE TO FAULTY WIRING CONNECTIONS. OUR AIRBAGS ARE NOW SUPPOSEDLY INOPERABLE.
NO POWER STEERING AND A LOUD POPPING SOUND WHEN EVER I TURNED THE STEERING WHEEL TO THE RIGHT. JUST HAD THE FRONT SUSPENSION LOWER CONTROL ARMS REPLACED AT MILEAGE OF 112477. THE FAULTY STEERING WARNING LIGHT CAME ON AND IT APPEARS THIS IS A PROBLEM FORD HAS HAD SINCE 2011 ON THE FORD EXPLORER. I HAVE READ ON THE INTERNET THIS IS NOT AN UNUSUAL PROBLEM WITH THE 2015 FORD EXPLORER, SO WHY HAS THIS ISSUE NOT BEEN REQUIRED TO BE INCLUDED IN RECALL ORDER?? I ALMOST HIT ANOTHER CAR ON A WET RAINY NIGHT AND I WAS GOING STRAIGHT. LACK OF STEERING CONTROL WHEN DRIVING 65 MPH IS A DEADLY EVENT. WILL CONTACT DEALER THAT SERVICED THE FRONT SUSPENSION TO HEAR THEIR SIDE OF THE STORY.
PASSENGER SIDE A PANEL HAS BEEN LOOSE FOR MANY YEARS, BUT FLEW OFF WHILE DRIVING. THIS HAPPENED WHILE ON THE HIGHWAY AND SMACKED INTO MY WINDSHIELD. VERY DANGEROUS FOR THE DRIVER AND OTHERS ON THE ROAD!!! I HAVE SEEN NUMEROUS ISSUES WITH THIS ONLINE AND DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW THIS HASN'T BEEN RECALLED.
At 89,000 miles I was going 65 mph headed home when my window pillar flew off just so happen the vehicle behind us didn’t get affected by it. I am reaching out because there should be a recall on this. This is unacceptable for you to even pay for something with a part that will come off. Reach 100,000 popping noise when turning. What’s the issue Ford.
OUR AIR BAG DEPLOYMENT LIGHT STAYS ON ALL THE TIME. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO GORDIE BOUCHER FORD IN JANESVILLE WI FOR REPAIRS. THE ENTIRE AIR BAG SYSTEM WILL NOT WORK IF THIS LIGHT IS ON. FORD KNOWS ABOUT THIS PROBLEM, IT IS WELL DOCUMENTED IF YOU SEARCH THE INTERNET. A COMMON PROBLEM THAT REQUIRES A WIRING HARNESS TO BE REPLACED DUE TO A FRAYED WIRE. THE COST TO REPAIR THIS IS $1200. I DID HAVE THE REPAIR DONE BECAUSE WITHOUT IT I WOULD HAVE NO WORKING AIRBAGS ON MY VEHICLE. THIS IS CLEARLY A SAFETY ISSUE THAT FORD IS AWARE OF AND SHOULD BE IMMEDIATELY RECALLED. I DID REQUEST THE OLD WIRING HARNESS IF THAT IS SOMETHING THAT YOU WOULD NEED TO HELP GET THIS SAFETY RECALL STARTED. I WOULD LIKE TO BE REIMBURSED FOR MY EXPENSES.

REAR BACK UP CAMERA IMAGE IS REVERSED NOT ALWAYS IN COLOR CAMERA STAYS ON ONCE VEHICLE IS IN DRIVE FOR SOMETIMES UP TO 20 SECONDS IMAGE IS NOT DISPLAYED AT ALL TIMES WHEN IN REVERSE AND WHEN THIS HAPPENS, WITHIN 24 HOURS THERE IS A 'SYSTEM UPDATE' THAT AFFECTS INFOTAINMENT SCREEN INCLUDING BLUETOOTH
DOWN THE ROAD FROM MY HOUSE THE POWER TAKEOFF UNIT HAD A CATASTROPHIC FAILURE WHILE DRIVING FORWARD (ON PRIVATE DRIVE) GRINDING SOUND COULD BE HEARD COMING FROM THE UNIT IN DRIVE BUT NOT REVERSE OR NEUTRAL. MY COMPLAINT WITH THIS IS THAT THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH FORD AND THEY HAVE NOT ISSUED A RECALL, THE JERKING THAT THIS FAILURE CAUSED HAD I BEEN ON A PUBLIC ROAD/HIGHWAY GOING A HIGHER SPEED COULD OF CAUSED A MAJOR ACCIDENT THERFORE I BELIEVE THIS TO BE A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE.
FRAYED WIRING UNDER THE PASSENGER SIDE SECOND ROW SEATING. THIS IS CAUSING THE AIRBAG LIGHT TO BE ON AND WILL NOT ALLOW THAT AIRBAG TO DEPLOY IN AN ACCIDENT. FORD IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM AND THAT IT IS A COMMON ISSUE THAT THEY DO NOT KNOW WHAT CAUSES IT. COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE FOR A FAMILY VEHICLE TO HAVE THIS ISSUE AND THE MANUFACTURER NOT TAKE CARE OF IT. WE DO NOT BELIEVE THIS VEHICLE I SAFE TO TRANSPORT OR HAVE PASSENGERS IN THE BACK SEAT NOW.

THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO DAMEROW FORD (12325 SW CANYON RD, BEAVERTON, OR 97005, (800) 732-8633) TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE TIMING CHAIN NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT YET REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 96,000.
THE WINDSHIELD WINDOW RUBBER SIDINGS ARE BREAKING APART ON BOTH SIDES. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE THE WINDOW CAN FALL APART WHILE I'M DRIVING. THE SECOND ISSUE IS WITH A RECALL ON THE PANELS ON THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER DOORS COMING APART. THE FORD DEALER SUPPOSEDLY FIXED IT BUT THE PASSENGER PANEL IS COMING APART WHAT CAN I DO WITH RECALL THAT I WAS INFORMED HAS EXPIRED.
SUDDENLY, WHILE BACKING OUT OF A PARKING SPOT WE NOTICED A LOUD POPPING SOUND WHILE TURNING TOWARDS THE RIGHT. ON THE DRIVE HOME IT POPPED EVERY TIME WE TURNED RIGHT. AFTER TAKING IT TO OUR MAIN MECHANIC, HE INFORMED US ABOUT A STEERING GEAR / RACK AND PINION PROBLEM. MY VEHICLE HAS 90,000. I DRIVE IT MAYBE 80 MILES A WEEK. IT DOESN'T MAKE ANY SENSE FOR IT TO BE HAVING THIS EXTENT OF A PROBLEM FROM 'WEAR AND TEAR' UPON MY OWN RESEARCH I FOUND HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE WITH THE EXACT ISSUE WITH THE RACK AND PINION. ALSO LEAVING THEM DUMBFOUNDED AS TO THEIR FORD EXPLORER HAVING <110,000MI WITH A STEERING GEAR ISSUE THAT AVERAGES A COST OF $2500. THIS IS ABSOLUTELY A DANGEROUS FORD PROBLEM THAT NEEDS TO BE RECALLED AND RESOLVED IMMEDIATELY.
LOUD POPPING, CLUNKING NOISE COMING FROM PASSENGER FRONT WHEEL. STEERING BECOMES DIFFICULT TO CONTROL. MORE DOMINANT NOISE AT LOW SPEED. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A LOCAL ASE CERTIFIED MECHANIC. THEY INFORM ME THAT THE RACK AND PINION NEEDS REPLACED. I ONLY HAVE 71,500 MILES ON THE VEHICLE. WITHIN FURTHER RESEARCH, I HAVE FOUND HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS WITH THIS SAME ISSUE.
ON JAN 20, 2021 MY 2015 FORD EXPLORER LEFT DRIVER SIDE LOWER WINDSHIELD MOULDING PANEL FLEW OFF INTO TRAFFIC. I WAS TRAVELLING AT 45 MPH ON A WINDY DAY. I CIRCLED AROUND AND SOMEONE HAD RUN OVER IT AND SO IT WAS NOT REPAIRABLE. I HAD 96K MILES ON THE CAR. I GOT THE CAR IN 2017 AND HAVE NOT HAD WINDSHIELD REPLACED. I SAW A FEW CARS SWERVE AROUND IT BEFORE ANOTHER CAR HIT IT. THIS COULD CAUSE AN ACCIDENT.

The contact received notifications of NHTSA Campaign Numbers: 24V031000 (Structure) and 25V695000 (Back Over Prevention); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. While driving approximately 70 MPH, the front passenger’s side A-pillar trim detached and struck another vehicle. In reverse, the rearview camera failed to display a clear image behind the vehicle. The local dealer was contacted on several occasions. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired due to parts not being available. The vehicle was taken to a local Auto-Glass shop, where the vehicle was repaired at the owner's expense. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure reoccurred and was temporarily repaired using tape. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The contact had not experienced a failure. The failure mileage was approximately 95,000.

MY STEERING FAILED AS I WAS TRAVELING WITH MY GRANDKIDS ON A LOCAL SUBURBAN ROAD. IT TOOK ALL MY EFFORT TO STEER THE TRUCK BACK TO MY HOME. THIS WAS VERY DANGEROUS AS THE STEERING WOULD ALSO FREEZE AND LOCK IN ONE POSITION. I HAD IT REPAIRED AT MY FORD DEALER. TOTAL COST: $2,107.00! THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE THAT THE MANUFACTURER SHOULD COVER! I HAVE 85,000 MILES ON MY EXPLORER.
WHILE DRIVING ON A LOCAL SUBURBAN STREET, MY POWER STEERING WENT OUT. IT FELT LIKE IT WAS IN A MANUAL MODE AND IT WAS EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO GET BACK HOME.. MY TWO GRANDCHILDREN WERE IN THE CAR, AND THIS SITUATION PUT US ALL IN A DANGEROUS SITUATION. I MANAGED TO GET THE CAR TO MY FORD DEALERSHIP AND AFTER ASSESSING THE SITUATION, THEY DETERMINED THAT THE POWER STEERING RACK FAILED. THIS RESULTED IN, NOT ONLY MY LOSING THE USE OF THE VEHICLE OVER THE WEEKEND, BUT AN EXTREME BILL, OF $2107.00!

THERE IS SOMETHING SERIOUSLY WRONG WITH THESE CARS! SO ANYTIME THE CAR IS RUNNING EXHAUST FUMES ARE ENTERING THE PASSENGER CABIN.
FORD IS TAKING APPOINTMENTS FOR RECALL REPLACEMENT OF ORIGNAL RECALL PART BUT THEN WHEN YOU SHOW UP TO DEALERSHIP BEING TOLD NO IDEA WHEN PARTS WILL BE IN DUE TO COVID , RECALL NOTICE SAID THIS IS SAFETY ISSUE BUT WE ARE TOLD TO KEEP COMING BACK NEXT YEAR; SHOULD NOT THEY TELL US PRIOR TO TAKING OFF WORK AND COMING IN THAT RECALL NOTICE IS JOKE AND PLANS ARE NOT UNTIL NEXT YEAR TO POTENTIALLY FIX? FORD CORP WAS JUST AS USELESS AS FAR AS BEING PROACTIVE AND WHEN THIS CAN BE FIXED. IT SHOULD NOT BE JOB TO POLICE FORD TO SEE WHEN PARTS ARE IN AND NOT SURE WHY YOU DID NOTICE IF CAN NOT BE REPAIRED, RECALL NOTICE 20V-675. I UNDERSTAND COVID DELAYS BUT AS ESSENTIAL WORKER WHO WILL BE DRIVING THIS CAR TO WORK EVERY DAY SEEMS A CRAZY WAY TO RUN RECALL. IF IN CRASH AT LEAST I AM ON RECORD TO ALL OF YOU.
MY FAMILY AND I PLANNED TO GO TO TOWN ONE DAY. THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN MY DRIVEWAY AT THE TIME AND ALL SEAT BELTS WERE WORKING THE NIGHT BEFORE AS MY FAMILY AND I HAD WENT TO TOWN THE NIGHT BEFORE FOR DINNER WITH OUT ANY PROBLEMS WITH THE SEATBELTS. WHEN MY DAUGHTER GOT IN THE BACK DRIVER SEAT AND ATTEMPTED TO PUT ON HER SEAT BELT IT WAS IN A LOCKED POSITION. MY WIFE AND I ATTEMPTED TO GET THE SEATBELT TO UNLOCK BUT IT WOULD NOT. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP BILL TALLEY FORD IN MECHANICSVILLE VIRGINIA. THEY LOOKED IT OVER AND SAID THAT THE MECHANISM HAD BECAME LOCKED UP (SOMETHING I WAS ALREADY AWARE OF). AND ACCORDING TO THEM IT WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED BECAUSE IT IS THE ONLY WAY TO UNLOCK IT. I WAS NOT IN ANY ACCIDENTS AND THE REAR SEAT BELTS THAT ARE INSTALLED ON MY FORD EXPLORER ALSO HAVE BUILT-IN AIRBAGS. MY PERSONAL BELIEF IS IT HAS TO DO WITH THE AIRBAG SYSTEM BUILT INTO THE SEATBELT WHY IT HAS BECOME LOCKED. THE DEALERSHIP EXPLAIN TO ME IT WOULD COST ME $700 TO HAVE IT REPAIRED. WHICH I RESPONDED I DIDN'T BELIEVE I SHOULD HAVE TO PAY ANYTHING CONSIDERING THAT IT IS A SAFETY DEVICE AND THE VEHICLE HADN'T BEEN ANY ACCIDENTS. MY PERSONAL OPINION IS A CAR MANUFACTURER/DEALERSHIP SHOULD REPLACE ANY BROKEN SAFETY DEVICES WITHOUT QUESTION AND WITHOUT CHARGING. ESPECIALLY WHEN IT WASN'T THE OWNER'S FAULT. TO THIS DAY THE SEAT BELT STAYS IN A LOCKED UNUSABLE POSITION WHICH LUCKILY I HAVE THIRD ROW SEATING IN MY EXPLORER SO MY CHILDREN CAN SIT IN THE THIRD ROW REAR SEATS WHERE THE SEAT BELTS WORK BUT IT WOULD BE VERY UNFORTUNATE IF MY FAMILY OF FOUR OR ANY FAMILY OF FOUR WHO DIDN'T HAVE THE THIRD ROW SEATING. I'VE BEEN INFORMED THAT MY 2015 FORD EXPLORER SPORT WITH LESS THAN 60K MILES NEEDS A NEW STEERING RACK. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE FOR A HIGHER END VEHICLE WITH LOWER MILES. VERY DISAPPOINTED AND I SEE THAT MANY PEOPLE HAVE BEEN TOLD THE SAME THING. THE PRICE OF THIS RACK IS CLOSE TO 2K.
PTU IS LEAKING. THE FLUID IS BAD AND NEEDS SEALS INSTALLED. I SMELLED GAS AND HOT MOTOR. TYPE SMELL. THIS HAPPENED TO ANOTHER 2015 FORD EXPLORER OWNER BY FRIEND - IT WAS NOT DISCOVERED AS EARLY. THIS IS A HAZARD TO THE DRIVER. SOUNDS LIKE IT'S AN ISSUE FOR MANY EXPLORER OWNERS. SHOULD BE RECALL? WOULD I BE REIMBURSED?
AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON AROUND 58,000 MILES. GOT IT DIAGNOSED BY MAC HAIK FORD PASADENA. DEALER SAID IT WAS AN ISSUE IN THE AIRBAG WIRING HARNESS UNDER THE REAR SEATS AND FALLS UNDER TSB 16-0001. THE AIR BAGS THROUGHOUT THE CAR WILL NOT DEPLOY BECAUSE OF THIS MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE.
AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON ON THE DISPLAY. TOOK IT IN FOR DIAGNOSTICS AND IT WAS DETERMINED TO BE A WIRE HARNESS THAT NEEDS REPLACING, UNTIL ALMOST 900 DOLLARS IS SPENT TO HAVE THE WIRE HARNESS REPLACED ALL AIRBAGS IN THE VEHICLE ARE INACTIVE. THIS IS AN ISSUE NUMEROUS FORD EXPLORER ISSUES FACE AND IT IS PRETTY CLOSE TO BEING HELD HOSTAGE BY FORD. SEATS AND CARPETING HAVE TO BE REMOVED FOR THE WIRE HARNESS TO BE ACCESSED, THIS IS A DESIGN FLAW AT BEST AS USERS CAN'T REALLY ACCESS IT SO HOW COULD THEY HARM THE SYSTEM? IT IS ABSURD THAT TO HAVE WORKING AIRBAGS IN OUR VEHICLE WE HAVE TO SPEND ANYTHING IF WE DIDN'T COMMIT ANY ERROR, NOR IS THERE ANY REAL PROTECTION IF IT WERE TO HAPPEN AGAIN. THIS IS QUITE A LARGE SAFETY CONCERN, I'VE SEEN COUNTLESS COMPLAINTS ONLINE WITH THIS ISSUE AND WAS TOLD BY THE SERVICE ADVISOR AT FORD 'WE HAVE PEOPLE COME IN FOR THIS ALL THE TIME'.
VEHICLE STARTED MAKE GRINDING AND KNOCKING NOISE IN SLOW SPEED TURNS. 77,000 MILES ON VEHICLE. TOOK TO DEALERSHIP, AND WAS ADVISED STEERING RACK NEEDED REPLACEMENT. COST WOULD BE OVER $2,000, AND NOT COVERED BY WARRANTY OR RECALL. AFTER SEEING ALL THE POSTS ON THIS SITE, AND OTHERS, IT IS OBVIOUS A RECALL SHOULD HAVE BEEN ISSUED. NOT ONLY HAS THIS BEEN ONGOING IN EXPLORERS, BUT IS ALSO A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE.

I RECEIVED A LETTER STATING THAT MY CAR WAS BEING RECALLED BACK IN NOVEMBER OF 2020. I CALLED EMPIRE FORD IN NEW BEDFORD MASS IMMEDIATELY TO MAKE AN APPT TO GET IT FIXED. IT HAS NOW BEEN 2 MONTHS AND I AM STILL AWAITING AN APPOINTMENT AFTER CALLING THEM SEVERAL TIMES. THEY FIRST TOLD ME IT WAS ON BACK ORDER THE PETS, THEN A FEW WEEKS LATER THEY TOLD ME I SHOULD BRING IT IN FIRST TO SEE IF I ACTUALLY NEEDED THE PART. I TOLD THEM THERE WAS A RECALL FOR A REASON AND I WANTED THE PART CHANGED. IT WAS NOT UP TO THEM. I AM STILL AWAITING TO HEAR BACK. THEY ARE THE ONLY FORD DEALERS NEAR ME AND THEY ARE TERRIBLE. I HAVE HAD SEVERAL BAD BAD EXPERIENCES WITH THAT SHOP.

I HAVE HAD REPLACE THE STEERING RACK IN THIS CAR TWICE. ONCE AT 50K MILES AND THEN AGAIN AT 92K MILES. I HAVE OWNED A LOT OF VEHICLES AND HAVE NEVER HAD TO REPLACE A STEERING COLUMN, LET ALONE 2. RESEARCHING IT ON THE WEB IT SEEMS TO BE COMMON IN THE CAR AND VERY DANGEROUS. IT'S SO COMMON THAT THE DEALER I BROUGHT IT TO STOCKS THE PART. THAT'S SCARY! I HAVE ATTACHED MY 2 INVOICES FOR THE SAME STEERING REPLACEMENT. I'M HOPING TO AT LEAST GET REFUNDED FOR THE SECOND ONE. OR BETTER YEAT BOTH IF YOUY DECIDE THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM.
