WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AND TOWING A TRAILER THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY LOST POWER AND DRAMATICALLY SLOWED DOWN. IT WAS ALMOST LIKE SLAMMING ON THE BRAKES. THE INFORMATION WINDOW SHOWED "TERRAIN MANAGEMENT FAULT". THE ENGINE WAS BARELY RUNNING AND WAS RUNNING ERRATICALLY. I WAS ABLE TO GET PULLED OVER AND STOPPED THE ENGINE. WHEN I TRIED TO RESTART IT THE "TERRAIN MANAGEMENT FAULT". APPEARED AGAIN AND THE ENGINE WAS AGAIN BARELY RUNNING. AFTER A FEW STOPS AND STARTS THE MESSAGE CLEARED AND THE ENGINE BEGAN TO RUN NORMALLY. THE FORD DEALER FOUND A BAD THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY WAS FAULTY. THE REPAIR WAS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 FORD EXPLORER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR PANEL DETACHED FROM THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS INSPECTED NOT DIAGNOSED. THE DOOR PANEL WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT MENTIONED CUSTOMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM: 17N04 (FRONT DOOR TRIM PANEL REPAIR) AS A POSSIBLE SOLUTION TO THE FAILURE HOWEVER, THE WARRANTY WAS EXPIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE CUSTOMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM 17N04 HAD EXPIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 70,000.
THE STEERING RACK AND PISTON MUST BE FULLY REPLACED. I NOTICED THE STEERING FELT A LITTLE ODD THE DAY BEFORE. I RECEIVED AN EMERGENCY WARNING WHEN I PARKED. WHEN I WAS PARKED I WAS UNABLE TO START THE VEHICLE. I HAD TO GET IT TOWED TO KOONS FORD OF BALTIMORE. NOW KOONS FORD SAYS IT WILL COST ME ROUGHLY $4000+ TO FIX THE VEHICLE, ALIGNMENT AND FEES. I'M UPLOADING AN IMAGE OF THE EMERGENCY ERROR. I'VE HAD SO MANY PROBLEMS WITH THIS VEHICLE. IF I WERE DRIVING I WOULD HAVE DIED, AND/OR KILLED SOMEBODY.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 FORD EXPLORER. THE CONTACT WAS A CAR DEALER WHO HAD JUST PURCHASED THE VEHICLE AND WAS DRIVING AT 35 MPH. THE LEFT REAR TOE LINK SUDDENLY SNAPPED. THE VEHICLE SLIDE SIDEWAYS UNTIL THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO STRAIGHTEN OUT THE STEERING WHEEL AND SAFELY PULL OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND THE LEFT REAR TIRE WAS POINTED OUTWARD. THE RIGHT REAR TOE LINK HAD ALMOST SPLIT AS WELL. THE MANUFACTURER SAID A RECALL REPAIR WAS DONE ON THE TOE LINKS LAST YEAR BUT THEY REFUSED TO REPAIR IT AGAIN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 95,446.
The contact owns a 2015 Ford Explorer. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V675000 (Suspension) however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The contact called the local dealer and Midway Ford (2777 Snelling Ave N, Roseville, MN 55113:(651) 636-8200) and it was confirmed that the part was not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. October 30, 2020, Ford issued a recall, 20S62, NHTSA recall 20V675. I have had the recommended inspection completed. However, as of March 7, 2022 (17 months later) Ford says the replacement parts are not available and they don't know when they will be available.
THE AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON. AFTER DOING EXTENSIVE RESEARCH I SEE THAT THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE BECAUSE OF THE WIRING AND FAULTY CONNECTORS. AFTER WIGGLING WIRES THE LIGHT GOES OFF. IT EVENTUALLY COMES BACK ON, THEN REPEAT THE PROCESS.. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE THE AIRBAGS WILL NOT DEPLOY WITH THE LIGHT ON.
DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AT 70 MPH I RECEIVED A TERRAIN MANAGEMENT FAULT ON THE DASH BOARD AND THEN A POWER STEERING FAULT AND THEN I LOST POWER STEERING. I PULLED OVER AND TURNED OFF THE VEHICLE. RESTARTED AND STARTED TO DRIVE HOME HAD THE SAME ISSUE AND LOST POWER STEERING AGAIN. RESTARTED A SECOND TIME AND WAS ABLE TO MAKE IT HOME.
PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE AND IT HAS A CRACKED EXHAUST MANIFOLD, EXHAUST FUMES ARE HORRIBLE, HAVE TO DRIVE WITH AIR ON RECIRCULATE, AND WINDOWS CRACKED. DEALER VERIFIED IT WAS A CRACKED MANIFOLD BUT WOULDN'T COVER IT SINCE THE CATALYTIC WAS NOT THROWING A CODE.
VEHICLE WAS PARKED. I RAN INTO STORE WHILE FAMILY SAT IN VEHICLE. I CAME BACK OUT, STARTED TO OPEN DOOR, AND HEARD SOMETHING HIT THE GROUND. I PICKED UP A PART OF MY DRIVER SIDE DOOR HANDLE OFF OF THE GROUND. I AM NOW UNABLE TO OPEN MY DOOR FROM THE OUTSIDE.
VEHICLE STOPS SUDDENLY, USUALLY WHILE ACCELERATING BUT NO ALWAYS, WITH A MESSAGE THAT POPS UP ON THE DASH STATING, "VEHICLE SYSTEM MANAGEMENT FAULT." VEHICLE WILL NOT ACCELERATE AFTER POP UP APPEARS AND BEGINS TO SHAKE/RUMBLE. THE ONLY WAY TO GET THE VEHICLE TO DRIVE AGAIN IS TO TURN OFF THE VEHICLE AND RESTART IT. AT THIS POINT, THE VEHICLE SEEMS TO DRIVE NORMALLY AGAIN. I'VE NOTICED THIS POP UP MAINLY ON HIGHWAYS/FREEWAYS WHEN ACCELERATING AROUND 55-60 MPH BUT IT HAS HAPPENED ON SIDE STREETS WHILE GETTING UP TO SPEED WHICH IS USUALLY 30 MPH.
WHILE DRIVING IN WET CONDITIONS WITH THE AUTOMATIC CRUISE CONTROL ENABLED THE VEHICLE PULLS TO THE SIDES. FORDS RESPONSE IS THAT THE BRAND NEW WINTER TIRES ARE CAUSING THE SLIPPING.

THE RACK AND PINION STEERING WENT OUT ON OUR 2015 FORD EXPLORER AND HAD TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE STARTED MAKING A WEIRD RUBBING NOISE AT LOW SPEEDS. WHEN I GOOGLED THE ISSUE, I FOUND OUT THAT FORD HAD A RECALL FOR 2011-2017 FORD EXPLORERS FOR THE RACK AND PINION STEERING, HOWEVER THEY WERE ONLY FOR VEHICLES MANUFACTURED IN CHICAGO AND APPARENTLY MY VEHICLE WAS NOT COVERED BY THE RECALL. I HAVE ATTACHED REPAID INVOICE. THE COST OF THE REPAIR WAS OVER $2500 (SEE JOBS 1 & 2 ON THE ATTACHED INVOICE.
EMERGENCY BRAKE IS NO LONGER ENGAGING. YOU CAN PUSH THE EMERGENCY BRAKE DOWN, THERE IS TENSION, BUT IT WONT LOCK IN PLACE.
The contact owns a 2015 Ford Explorer. The contact stated that while parked or while driving during inclement weather, water would enter the cabin of the vehicle. The contact stated that the rain caused an electrical failure in the vehicle that caused the radio, windows, and other electrical equipment to not function properly. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the roof rack needed to be replaced. The contact stated that she was concerned about the electrical failure that was caused by the soft roof rack. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer and manufacturer were notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 92,000.
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AT 60,600 MILES. MECHANIC SAYS IT IS A CRANKSHAFT/CAM SHAFT CORRELATION CODE. TIMING CHAIN NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. FORD ACKNOWLEDGES IT IS AN ISSUE AND THEY'VE MADE A LTR SPECIFIC TO THE REPAIR. HOWEVER, THERE ARE NO PARTS AVAILABLE TO FIX IT AND MAY NOT BE AVAILABLE FOR ONE MONTH OR LONGER. CAN'T DRIVE THE CAR AND CAN'T GE5 IT FIXED. VEHICLE IS 5 MONTHS OUTSIDE OF WARRANTY. FORD WON'T BUDGE.
WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AT 55MPH THE ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING WENT OUT WITHOUT WARNING. THIS CAUSED ME TO GO OFF THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND INTO A FENCE. VERY DANGEROUS, AS I HAVE READ SEVERAL OTHER STORIES ONLINE STATING THE SAME THINGS AND SOME AT HIGHER RATES OF SPEED ON THE INTERSTATE. LUCKILY I WAS ALONE AND NO ONE WAS HARMED. IT COULD HAVE BEEN ALOT WORSE.
DOOR WEATHER STRIPPING HAS HAS DETERIORATED AND IS HANGING LOOSE ALSO WINDOW FRAME LEATHER IS POPING UP ON BOTH DOORS
EXHAUST ODOR IN CABIN WHILE EXCELERATING
POPPING/KNOCKING NOISE WHEN TURNING AT LOW SPEED, GRADUALLY GET GETTING MORE SEVERE OVER TIME. IN ADDITION THERE HAVE BEEN INSTANCES WHERE THE CAR HAS NOT TURNED AS THE STEERING WHEEL IS MOVED. FORD GARAGE HAS DIAGNOSED THIS AS A STEERING RACK AND PINION UNIT PROBLEM. WITH ON 40K UNACCEPTABLE EARLY FAILURE OF THIS COMPONENT WITH A $3,000 REPAIR COST.
I GOT IN MY 2015 FORD EXPLORER THIS MORNING STARTED THE CAR BACKED OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY AND IT WOULD NOT STEER NO POWER STEERING AT ALL. APPARENTLY THERE IS A STEERING MODULE WITHIN THE STEERING COLUMN THAT GETS LOCKED BECAUSE OF TRACTION CONTROL THERE'S BE SEVERAL ACCOUNTS ON SOCIAL MEDIA WHERE THIS HAS HAPPENED WHEN PEOPLE ARE DRIVING DOWN THE FREEWAY.APPARENTLY IF THIS MODULE NEEDS TO BE REPLACED THE WHOLE STEERING COLUMN NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AT A COST OF OVER $3,000.

APPARENTLY IF THIS MODULE NEEDS TO BE REPLACED THE WHOLE STEERING COLUMN NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. THERE ARE SEVERAL INCIDENTS ON SOCIAL MEDIA THAT THIS HAS HAPPENED WHILE PEOPLE HAVE BEEN DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY.
IN LESS THAN A MONTH TIME THE CONTROL ARMS AND BACK TIE ROD ENDS SNAPPED COMPLETELY WHILE JUST DRIVING ON NORMAL FLAT ROADS. COSTING $1,000'S IN DAMAGE REPAIRS . THE WHOLE BACK END GAVE OUT SWERVING MY WHOLE VEHICLE WHILE I HAD CHILDREN IN IT.
The contact owns a 2015 Ford Explorer. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the front windshield bonding fracture and disconnected structing another vehicle. The contact also mentioned that an abnormal fume odor appeared in the interior cabin from all vents. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed and inspected which the technician was unable to duplicate the issue. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact mentioned a recall however while conducting a recall search there was NHTSA Action Number: EA17002 (STRUCTURE, ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING) as a possible solution to the failure, however, the VIN was not included in the action number. The manufacture was notified of the failure and informed the contact that no recalls was under the VIN. The failure mileage was approximate 26,000.

MY STEERING IS VERY DIFFICULT. IT DOES NOT TURN AT TIMES. I NEVER GOT A RECALL NOTICE ON THIS, ALTHOUGH THERE WAS A RECALL ENDING ON AUGUST 19. 2019. IT IS WHEN TURNING WHEN DRIVING--WITHER PULLING OUT OF AN INTERSECTION, MOVING FROM A PARALLEL PARKING POSITION, AND ALSO DRIVING ON THE ROAD. THER3E IS A RECALL AS FOLLOWS:RECALL REAR SUSPENSION TOE LINK REPLACEMENT NHTSA RECALL NUMBER: 19V435 NHTSA DATE:JUN 10, 2019 FORD RECALL NUMBER: 19S17 STATUS:11 - RECALL INCOMPLETE I DID NOT RECEIVE THE RECALL NOTICE TO HAVE THIS FIXED. IT CONTINUES TO GET WORSE AND I FEAR THAT IT WILL CAUSE A CRASH.
APIM FAILURE IN 2015 FORD EXPLORER SPORT. ATTEMPTED TO USE UPDATE FROM FORD WEBSITE WHICH WAS UNSUCCESSFUL. CONTACTED FORD FOR SECOND ATTEMPT. SECOND ATTEMPT WAS UNSUCCESSFUL. TOOK VEHICLE TO ULTIMATE FORD IN MOUNTAINHOME ARKANSAS. WAS TOLD THAT THE UPDATE WILL COST $109. ULTIMATE FORD ATTEMPTED TO DO UPDATE WHICH WAS UNSUCCESSFUL TIMES TWO AND WAS TOLD THAT THE A APIM WAS BAD BY JAY IN THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT AND WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED. AND AFTER CONTACTING FORD MULTIPLE TIMES I WAS UNABLE TO GET ANY RESOLUTION IN THIS SITUATION. TOOK THE VEHICLE INTO FORD AND HAD THE APIM REPLACED AT A COST OF $915.46. I TALK TO CHRIS IN THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT AND I WAS INFORMED THAT THEY DO 2 TO 3 APIM REPLACEMENTS A WEEK. IF THIS IS THE CASE IN A TOWN THE SIZE OF MOUNTAIN HOME ARKANSAS I BELIEVE THAT THIS SHOULD PROBABLY BE A RECALL FOR THIS VEHICLE. VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY .
WHEEL BEARING HUBS ARE BOTH BAD. NOT A CHEAP FIX. OTHER VEHICLES UNDER RECALL FOR THE SAME THING. FORD NEEDS TO ADD MORE VEHICLES AND REIMBURSE THE COST OF THIS FIX. BOTH REAR WHEELS MOVE IN AND OUT WHEN IN THE AIR.ONLY HAD ONE SIDE DONE AT THIS TIME BUT WILL BE RETURNING TO LOCAL MECHANIC TO FIX OTHER SIDE (NOT AS BAD AS THE SIDE FIXED).
RIGHT FRONT WHEEL BEARING HAD TO BE REPLACED.
TURNED ON VEHICLE, BACKING OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY, CAR MAKING A STRANGE SOUND AS I TRIED TO TURN STEERING WHEEL. COULD NOT TURN WHEELS, CAR WOULD NOT TURN. I MANAGED TO FIGHT THE STEERING WHEEL AND PULLED BACK INTO DRIVEWAY. I'M EXTREMELY CONCERNED AND VERY UNCOMFORTABLE WITH THIS SITUATION. UPON RESEARCH I UNDERSTAND THIS PROBLEM HAS HAPPENED TO OTHER CONSUMERS, FORD MUST TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THIS ISSUE BEFORE SOMEONE IS KILLED.
POPPING/KNOCKING NOISE WHEN TURNING AT LOW SPEED, GRADUALLY GET GETTING MORE SEVERE OVER TIME. IN ADDITION THERE HAVE BEEN INSTANCES WHERE THE CAR HAS NOT TURNED AS THE STEERING WHEEL IS MOVED. FORD GARAGE HAS DIAGNOSED THIS AS A STEERING RACK AND PINION UNIT PROBLEM. WITH ON 77K THIS SEEMS TO BE AN UNACCEPTABLE EARLY FAILURE OF THIS COMPONENT.
THE EXPLORER ONLY HAS 46000 MILES ON IT AND THE WATER PUMP FAILED CAUSING COOLANT TO LEAK. WE PARK IT IN OUR GARAGE AND I'M VERY OBSERVANT SO I NOTICED ALMOST IMMEDIATELY MY WIFE DRIVES THIS WITH OUR CHILDREN IN IT AND WE BOUGHT IT BECAUSE IT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE BUILT FORD TOUGH AND I WAS EXPECTING AT LEAST 100,000 MILES BEFORE THINGS LIKE THIS WOULD START HAPPENING. IF I DIDN'T NOTICE RIGHT AWAY THE CAR MAY HAVE OVERHEATED AND COULD HAVE LEFT MY FAMILY ON THE SIDE OF THE FREEWAY OR IN THE MIDDLE OF A LANE. I TOOK IT THE LOCAL DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS AND REPAIR. THIS IS WHERE I FOUND OUT IT WAS ACTUALLY THE WATER PUMP. THE TOTAL COST TO REPLACE THE WATER PUMP JUST UNDER $2800 BECAUSE IT IS ACTUALLY IN THE ENGINE. FORDS RECOMMENDATION IS THE WATER PUMP SHOULD BE REPLACED AT 100,000 MILES AND SHOULD ACTUALLY LAST 150'000 MILES. THERE MUST BE SOME ADMISSION OF RESPONSIBILITY ON THEIR PART BECAUSE THE SERVICE WRITER AT THE DEALER ASSURED ME THAT THE PART HAS BEEN UPGRADED SINCE ORIGINAL DESIGN BASED ON A 'B' AT THE END OF THE PART NUMBER. A COMPANY LIKE FORD SHOULD STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCT AND IF THEY KNOW THERE IS A ISSUE THEY SHOULD FIX IT.
WITHOUT HITTING POTHOLES OR BARELY EVEN DRIVING THE CAR DUE TO CORONA. NOW THE AXEL DECIDES TO GIVE UP. DRIVING TO AN APPOINTMENT I WENT TO TURN INTO THE PARKING LOT AND HUGE CRACKLING SOUND CAME FROM THE DRIVER SIDE AXLE. ONLINE IT SAYS IT SEEMS TO BE A VERY COMMON PROBLEM.
THE BACKUP CAMERA GOES BLACK THEN COMES BACK ON BACKWARDS. ITS VERY UNSAFE WHEN TRYING TO USE IT. THERE IS A RECALL FOR THE 2020 MODELS, NOT SURE IF MINE CAN BE REMEDIED, AS WELL.
WHILE DRIVING THE 2015 FORD EXPLORER I CAN SMELL EXHAUST ENTERING THE CABIN OF THE VEHICLE, ESPECIALLY UNDER ACCELERATION. I FOUND THIS TO BE AN ISSUE IN THE 2016-2017 MODELS,VIA A TSB 17-0044, BUT NOT THE 2015. I AM EXPERIENCING THE SAME ISSUE. I HAVE CONTACTED FORD AND THEY SEEM UNAWARE OF THE ISSUE AND REQUESTED THAT I TAKE IT IN AT MY EXPENSE TO DIAGNOSE AND "POSSIBLY" FIND THE ISSUE ON A PER HOUR RATE. I BELIEVE THAT THIS IS CAUSING MY 6 YEAR TO GET CAR SICK, ONLY IN THIS VEHICLE, AND MY WIFE TO FEEL TIRED AND HAVE BODY PAINS AS SHE IS THE ONE WHO DRIVES IT THE MOST.
THE POWER STEERING ASSIST ALERT CAME ON. WE FOLLOWED THE MANUAL SUGGESTION OF PULLING OVER, TURNING OFF VEHICLE AND RESTARTING AND IT DID NOT REPEAT. IT ALSO DIDN'T HAPPEN AGAIN FOR WEEKS. TODAY THAT ALERT AND ANOTHER POWER STEERING WARNING CAME ON AND THERE IS NO POWER STEERING. WE LIVE ON A PLATEAU WITH CURVY ROADS DOWN TO ANY REPAIR CENTER SO ARE FEARFUL OF DRIVING NOW. WHY DOES A VEHICLE WITH UNDER 60,000 MILES EVEN HAVE A SECTION IN THE MANUAL ABOUT WHAT TO DO ABOUT A WARNING THAT WILL MOST LIKELY COST YOU $2500 (PER FORD DEALER IN SPRINGFIELD TN) AND CAUSE A DANGEROUS DRIVING SITUATION? WE TRIED SEVERAL TIMES TODAY AND RECEIVED THE WARNING EACH TIME. WE NEVER LEFT THE DRIVEWAY.
AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT TURNED IN AND WILL NOT TURN OFF. TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER WHO STATED THE ISSUE IS A SHORTED CONNECTOR FOR THE REAR AND THAT THE AIRBAGS WOULD FAIL TO DEPLOY. THE LIGHT TURNS ON AS SOON AS THE VEHICLE IS STARTED AND NEVER TURNS OFF. THE LIGHT HAS BEEN ON FOR ABOUT THREE MONTHS BUT NO TECHNICIANS HAVE BEEN AVAILABLE TO FIND THE CAUSE.
DRIVING ON MN 61 IN MAPLEWOOD MN. WITHOUT WARNING THE POWER STEERING WENT OUT THE LITE CAME ON THAT STEERING NEEDED SERVICING NOW! MANAGED TO GET TO A SAFE PLACE TO STOP THEN DROVE IT TO SIGNAL GARAGE IN WEST ST PAUL, WITHOUT POWER STEERING. IT COST ME $2,789.00 TO HAVE THE STEERING REPAIRED. THEY REPLACED THE WHOLE POWER STEERING AND ALIGNED THE FRONT END. THE VEHICAL HAS ONLY 96,000 MILES. YOU CANNOT REPLACE JUST THE ELECTRONICS YOU HAVE TO REPLACE THE WHOLE STEERING.
WE WERE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY AND SUDDENLY LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE, WITH NO WARNING. IT CAUSED US TO GO OFF THE HIGHWAY AND ROLLED 3-4 TIMES.IN RESEARCHING THIS, SAW A RECALL THAT AFFECTS THIS VEHICLE AND IT WAS NOT RECEIVED.

VEHICLE IS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY. LOOKED UP THE PROBLEM ON INTERNET AND LOTS OF SAME PROBLEMS WITH THIS.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO MIKE BURCH FORD BLACKSHEAR (304 WARE ST, BLACKSHEAR, GA 3151) AND IT WAS CONFIRMED THAT THE POWER STEERING ASSIST WAS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 120,000.
VEHICLE BEGAN TO EXHIBIT A POPPING NOISE WHILE TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL AT LOW SPEEDS OR WHILE STOPPED. INITIALLY BEGAN ONLY WHILE IN REVERSE, SLOWLY PROGRESSED TO FORWARD MOTION AS WELL. GENERALLY OCCURS ONLY WHEN TURNING THE WHEEL CLOCKWISE. TOOK TO INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED IT AS FAULTY ELECTRONIC STEERING RACK, HOWEVER DUE TO DESIGN COULD NOT PERFORM FURTHER DIAGNOSIS. ENTIRE RACK REPLACED UNDER EXTENDED WARRANTY. MILEAGE OF VEHICLE IS APPROXIMATELY 80,000, ISSUE BEGAN APPROX 78,000 MILES. NO DASH LIGHTS ILLUMINATED, NO FAILURE OR LOSS OF STEERING AT SPEED.
LOST POWER STEERING AT 33558 MILES AND TOOK TO DEALER FIR REPAIR. THEY CLEANED POWER STEERING CONTROL MODULE TERMINAL CONTACTS AND APPLIED GREASE. 1000 MILES LATER WARNING LIGHT CAME BACK ON "STEERING ASSIST FAULT SERVICE NOW" WHILE DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY. TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALER AND NOW THEY HAVE TO REPLACE THE THE POWER STEERING CONTROL MODULE. FIRST REPAIR COST $323.54. COST TO REPLACE STEERING CONTROL MODULE WILL BE ABOUT $2300.00
REAR TOW LINK SNAPPED WHILE WIFE WAS DRIVING ON INTERSTATE AT 70 MPH, LOST CONTROL, FISHTAILED ACROSS TRAFFIC LANES BEFORE REGAINING CONTROL AND PULLING OVER. WIFE WAS SCARED TO DEATH. HAD TOWED TO FORD SERVICE CENTER. TOLD IT WAS A RECALL ISSUE, REPAIRED FREE OF CHARGE. REPAIRED AND PICKED UP THE CAR. TWO DAYS AFTER REPAIR, 7 YEAR OLD GRANDSON AND I WERE DRIVING 65 MPH ON HWY WHEN REAR TOW LINK SNAPPED AGAIN, LOST CONTROL, FISHTAILED ACROSS TRAFFIC LANES BEFORE REGAINING CONTROL AND PULLING TO SIDE OF HIGHWAY. GRANDSON AND I WERE TERRIFIED. TOWED TO FORD SERVICE CENTER, REPAIRED TOE LINK AND REPLACED REAR TIE RODS. TOLD THE TIE RODS WHERE SO WORE OUT THAT VEHICLE WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. NO MENTION OF TIE ROD ISSUE FROM PREVIOUS SERVICE CENTER. PICKED UP CAR AFTER ALL REPAIRS COMPLETED. FOUR DAYS AFTER PICKING UP VEHICLE, REAR TOE LINK SNAPPED, WHILE SAME 7 YR OLD GRANDSON AND I WERE DRIVING NORTH ON INTERSTATE AT 75 MPH. LOST CONTROL, FISHTAILED ACROSS BUSY TRAFFIC LANES, CROSSED THE MEDIAN AND HIT REFLECTOR POST ON THE EDGE OF THE SOUTHBOUND LANE BEFORE REGAINING CONTROL NARROWLY MISSING ON COMING TRAFFIC. REFLECTOR POST HIT AN ONCOMING CAR CAUSING DAMAGE TO THE DRIVERS DOOR AND SIDE MIRROR. GRANDSON AND I ARE IN SHOCK, SCARED TO DEATH AS WE ALMOST HIT A CAR HEAD ON. CAR TOWED TO SAME FORD SERVICE CENTER FOR REPAIR. WHEN WE WENT CHECK ON CAR WAS TOLD BY THE STAFF THAT HE WOULD GIVE ME THE KEYS VERY HESITANTLY BECAUSE HE FELT THE VEHICLE WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. DID NOT TAKE CAR BECAUSE WE ARE TERRIFIED TO DRIVE IT AS WE HAVE ALMOST DIED WHILE DRIVING ON THREE SEPARATE OCCASIONS. ALL WITHIN 400 MILES OF DRIVING. HAVE YET TO TAKE POSSESSION OF VEHICLE. WE ARE NOW STUCK WITH A VEHICLE, AND A LOAN, THAT WE ARE TOO AFRAID TO DRIVE. I'VE HAD TO SEE MY THERAPIST TO DISCUSS THE LEVEL OF STRESS, ANXIETY AND FEAR. GRANDSON WILL NOT GET IN A CAR ALONE WITH ME AS HE IS TO AFRAID.

THE MANUFACTURER HAD YET TO BE NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. UPON INVESTIGATION, THE CONTACT LINKED HIS FAILURE TO NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 19V435000 (SUSPENSION) HOWEVER, THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. TRAVELING AT ANY SPEED, THE VEHICLE WILL NOT EXCELERATE, VIBRATES, AND AN YELLOW WRENCH APPEARS ON THE DASH WITH MESSAGE "ALL TERRAIN MANAGEMENT FAULT". IT HAS HAPPENED TWICE IN THE LAST TWO DAYS. YOU HAVE TO COAST TO A SAFE PLACE OFF THE ROAD, TURN YOUR ENGINE OFF, AND RESTART. IT HAS A LAG WHEN TRYING TO RESTART, BUT WILL START. THIS IS EXTRAORDINARILY DANGEROUS WHILE TRAVELING ON ANY ROADWAY. I AM TAKING IT TO THE DEALERSHIP TOMORROW, BUT WHAT RESEARCH I HAVE DONE STATES THIS IS A VERY COMMON OCCURRENCE. AN ISSUE WITH THE THROTTLE BODY (ETB).
