THERE WAS A RECALL ON MY 2015 FORD EXPLORER FOR THE TOE LINK SUSPENSION REPLACEMENT. I HAD OT FIXED ON 1/7/20 AND ON 2/14/20 I WAS DRIVING ON 106 IN SPRINGFIELD VERMONT DOING 50 MILES PER HOUR AND THE TOE LINK SUSPENSION THEY REPLACED BROKE AND I LOST TOTAL CONTROL OF MY SUV. ALL MOST HAD HEAD ON COLLISION I WAS ALMOST KILLED. I HAD IT TOWED TO FORD DEALERSHIP AND THEY TOOK IT APART AGAIN AND STATED THAT THE REASON THE TOE LINK SUSPENSION CONTINUES TO BREAK IS DUE TO THE NUCKLE AND BUSHINGS. AND FORD CORPORATION SAID IT WAS NOT COVERED AND THERE FOR I WAS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE REPAIRS AND TOTAL COST. WHICH IS $2,411 I DO NOT HAVE THAT KIND OF MONEY. MY SUV IS STILL AT FORD DEALERSHIP. NEED HELP RESOLVING THIS ISSUE AND GET MY SUV FIXED AS IT IS THERE CAUSE OF THE BREAKAGE. PLEASE TELL PEOPLE NOT TO DRIVE THERE VEHICLE IF THERE TOE LINK SUSPENSION IS BAD CAUSE WHEN IT GOES YOU HAVE NO CONTROL OF YOUR STEERING. AND YOU NEVER KNOW WHEN ITS GONA HAPPEN. IT'S LIKE SLIDING ON ICE SIDE WAYS. VERY SCARY. NEVER WANT TO GO THOUGH THIS EVER AGAIN. THIS HAPPEN ON A BUSY STREET WITH ON COMING VEHICLES THAT SOME HOW I DIDNT HAVE HEAD ON COLLISION. I DO NOT HAVE PICS AS MY VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO FORD DEALERSHIP. HIDE TIRE ON PASSENGER SIDE POINTED OUT AND WOULD DRIVE SIDE WAYS AND THAT'S WHAT I WAS DOING AT 50 MILES AN HOUR. NOT A GOOD FEELING
The contact owns a 2015 Ford Explorer. The contact stated that the front driver’s and front passenger's side interior door trim started to detach from the door panel. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The dealer nor the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 60,000.
AIRBAG LIGHT STAYING ON. DEALER DIAGNOSED REAR SEAT ISSUE AND $911.00 TO REPAIR. FORD ISSUED TSB 16-0001 DUE TO IT BEING A COMMON PROBLEM. DUE TO THE HIGH COST OF REPAIR SOME CUSTOMERS DO NOT HAVE THE REPAIR COMPLETED RESULTING IN AN UNSAFE SITUATION. SINCE THIS INVOLVES AN IMPORTANT SAFETY ISSUE A MANDATORY RECALL SHOULD BE REQUIRED SO THE MANUFACTURING DEFECT CAN BE RESOLVED.
The driver and passenger front interior door panels are separating from the door and blocking the vision from the driver on the driver’s window and passenger window. They are also effecting the operation of the power windows from going up and down. This can definitely cause an accident which is not safe to drive. This was recalled in November 7, 2017 under 17N04 from Ford Motor Company. I am looking for these unsafe door panels to be replaced by Ford with your help.
I HAVE RECENTLY HEARD A POPPING SOUND WHEN I TURN THE STEERING WHEEL. THIS HAPPENS WHEN STATIONARY AND IN MOTION. I HAVE HAD A MECHANIC LOOK AT MY VEHICLE AND STATE THAT THE RACK SYSTEM NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AND THAT THERE IS A CHANCE THE STEERING CAN LOCK UP WHILE DRIVING. I DID RESEARCH AND FOUND THERE ARE RECALLS ON FORD EXPLORERS FOR 2011 TO 20014 BUT NOT 2015. WHY? IT IS THE SAME ISSUE JUST A DIFFERENT YEAR.
THIS CAR HAS STARTED SHOWING ALL SIGNS OF CORROSION ON THE FRONT HOOD. I HAVE DONE MY OWN RESEARCH AND FOUND THOUSANDS OF OTHER EXPLORERS WITH THE SAME ISSUE. BOTH OF THE FRONT DOOR PANELS ARE BREAKING DOWN OFF AT THE TOP BY THE WINDOWS. DRIVER SIDE IS BAD AND THE PASSENGER SIDE IS STARTING TO BREAK! THIS VEHICLE IS TOO NEW AND WAY TO EXPENSIVE TO BE DOING THIS !!!
THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT TURNS ON FOR NO REASON
EXHAUST ODOR COMING FROM CLIMATE CONTROL VENTS. WHILE DRIVING WITH THE HEATER ON, NOTICED THAT WHEN WE'D COME TO A STOP A MILD EXHAUST ODOR WAS COMING FROM THE HEATER VENTS. PASSENGERS CONSISTED OF MYSELF, TWO TODDLERS AND PREGNANT WIFE. AFTER AN 8 HOUR DRIVE MY WIFE AND I HAD HEADACHES. NOT SURE THE SOURCE OF THE HEADACHE.
THE CAR DOES NOT GO IN TO PARK. IT IS AN AUTOMATIC TRANS. YOU HAVE TO PLAY WITH THE SHIFTER FOR THE CAR TO GO INTO PARK AND SECURE THE VEHICLE.
Having read in a newspaper about the side windshield trim flying off it got me thinking about the rubber seals that go under that trim. On my Ford Explorer i have had those rubber seals split and and start ripping in strips. I have had to glue them to keep them from ripping off and maybe hit a vehicle behind me. Also there is a plastic plate that is below the windshield and under the windshield wipers that is warping. Have talked to a person that owns a body shop he told me that that is a common problem on these models of Explorers. He told me if i go and complain Ford may fix it for free. I have one more thing to mention. Went put in the VIN# for my Explorer it states that i have a recall that has not been Fixed. It is for the rear toe link. Well it has been fixed and i don't know how to change it to fixed.
I HAVE READ THAT THERE WERE RECALLS REGARDING PARKING BRAKES HOWEVER MY SPECIFIC MODEL 2015 BASIC MODEL EXPLORER WAS NOT ON THE LIST BUT MY PARKING BRAKES GAVE OUT AS I TRIED TO BACK OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY. THE BRAKE HANDLE POPPED UP AND I WAS UNABLE TO USE IT EVER SINCE AND I CANNOT DRIVE THE VEHICLE WITHOUT THE ALARMS GOING OFF WHICH INTERFERES WITH MY HEARING AIDS. TOOK IT TO DEALERSHIP AND THE DIAGNOSIS WAS THAT I NEEDED A BRAND NEW REPLACEMENT KIT, A COST OVER $700.
IN DECEMBER 2019 WHILE DRIVING AT ABOUT 70 MPH UPHILL ON INTERSTATE HIGHWAY AT NIGHTIME, THE ENGINE SUDDENLY LOST POWER. DEPRESSING THE ACCELERATOR PEDEL HAD NO EFFECT AND THE TRANSMISSION ACTED AS IF IT WAS SHIFTED TO NEUTRAL EVEN THOUGH IT WAS STILL IN DRIVE. THE ENGINE RPM SEEMED TO DROPP TO IDLE SPEED. I LOST FORWARD MOTION RAPIDLY. I HAD TO CROSS TWO LANES OF HIGH SPEED TRAFFIC TO PULL ONTO SHOULDER. IT WAS A VERY DANGEROUS MANUEVER AS THERE WAS CONSIDERABLE TRAFFIC AND I HAD TO REACT QUICKLY. I HAD TO CUT IN FRONT OF CARS MOVING MUCH FASTER THAN I WAS, CAUSING THEM TO HAVE TO BRAKE HEAVILY. THE ENGINE CONTINUED TO RUN FOR A WHILE AT ABOUT IDLE SPEED ONCE I REACHED THE SHOULDER, BUT WOULD THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT MOVE FORWARD. ALL LIGHTS ON VEHICLE, INCLUDING EMERGENCY FLASHERS, WORKED FINE. WITHIN ABOUT A MINUTE OF GETTING TO THE SHOULDER, THE ENGINE STARTED RUNNING ROUGH AND THEN SHUT DOWN ENTIRELY AND WOULD NOT RESTART. I LIFTED THE HOOD AND SAW NOTHING OBVIOUSLY WRONG. AFTER SEVERAL MINUTES, I ATTEMPTEDD TO RESTART THE ENGINE. THE ENGINE RESTARTED IMMEDIATELY AND RAN WITH NO PROBLEMS AND I WAS ABLE TO CONTINUE WITH MY TRIP.
THE AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT CAME ON WITHOUT WARNING OR INCIDENT (NO ACCIDENT OR IMPACT, JUST STARTED MY CAR ONE DAY AND THE LIGHT STAYED ON). PER RESEARCH DONE ONLINE WITH SAME WARNING LIGHT, MAKE AND MODEL OF VEHICLE, ISSUE APPEARED TO BE WITH THE REAR/2ND ROW SEAT BELT AIRBAGS DISENGAGING AND THIS CAUSES NONE OF THE AIRBAGS TO WORK IN THE VEHICLE IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH. AT THE TIME THE LIGHT INITIALLY CAME ON I HAD ABOUT 72K MILES ON MY CAR, AND IT APPEARS THIS IS ABOUT THE SAME MILEAGE OF ALL OTHER EXPLORER OWNERS WITH THIS ISSUE. I TOOK IT IN FOR SERVICE FOR THE LIGHT AND INCURRED REPAIRS TOTALING JUST UNDER $1,000 TO HAVE THE PARTS REPLACED AND THE AIRBAGS FUNCTION AGAIN. THE FACT THAT I DID NOTHING (OTHER THAN TURN ON MY CAR WHEN IT WAS APPROACHING THE 70-75K MILEAGE MARK) TO CAUSE MALFUNCTION OF THE AIRBAGS BUT HAD TO PAY $1,000 TO FIX IT AND HAVE AIRBAGS WORK IN MY CAR IN THE EVENT OF AN ACCIDENT IS DISAPPOINTING. FORD NEEDS TO ISSUE A RECALL FOR THIS, IT'S UNACCEPTABLE TO HAVE OWNER AND PASSENGER SAFETY COMPROMISED THROUGH NO FAULT OF THE OWNER, AND HAVE TO INCUR COSTLY REPAIRS TO MAKE THIS RIGHT. I KEPT MY RECEIPTS AVAILABLE TO PROVE CAUSE AND COST OF AIRBAG LIGHT ISSUE.
AIRBAG SENSOR CAME ON AT ABOUT 55,000 MILES. WENT TO DEALER AND THEY PUT ON COMPUTER; TOLD IT IS TSB 16-0001. DEALER SUGGESTED TO REPLACE THE AIRBAG HARNESS, WITH CONNECTORS REPLACED FOR $963.17, B/C WARRANTY EXPIRED AT 60,000 MILES. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AS NONE OF THE AIRBAGS IN THE CAR WILL DEPLOY UNLESS I PAY FORD FOR A PART THAT HAS NO MOVING PARTS. LOOKING TO SEE IF AFTERMARKET WARRANTY WILL COVER. I SEE MULTIPLE PEOPLE WITH SAME ISSUE HAVE REPORTED THIS SO THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL SINCE IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE, POTENTIALLY FOR CHILDREN.
OUR VEHICLE HAS EXHAUST ISSUES, THE CAR IF LEFT IDLING FOR VERY LONG AT ALL WILL MAKE THE ENTIRE VEHICLE SMELL. THIS CAUSES PASSENGERS TO HAVE A HEADACHE AND SOMETIMES BECOME SLEEPY. THE SMELL IN THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN SO BAD AFTER IDLING FOR A WHILE AND THEN DRIVING WE HAD TO PULL OVER AND OPEN ALL DOORS.
I WAS DRIVING ON A 4 LANE ROAD WITH A MEDIAN (NOT HIGHWAY). I WAS IN THE LEFT LANE PASSING 2 OTHER VEHICLES WHEN MY EXPLORER BEGAN TO ACCELERATE AND WOULD NOT STOP. THE ROAD WAS WET AND AS I BEGAN STOMPING ON AND OFF THE GAS PEDAL TO TRY AND RELEASE THE ACCELERATOR, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO HYDRO PLANE. I WENT ACROSS THE RIGHT LANE AND HIT THE CURB, WHICH PRETTY MUCH RIPPED OUT THE FRONT UNDERCARRIAGE OF THE VEHICLE. ONCE I LEFT THE ROADWAY AND COULD NOT REGAIN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE I PUT THE TRANSMISSION IN NEUTRAL UNTIL I COULD GET THE CAR STOPPED. ONCE THE VEHICLE CAME TO THE REST I TRIED AGAIN TO STOMP ON THE ACCELERATOR TO GET IT TO STOP ACCELERATING BUT HAD NO RESPONSE. THE VEHICLE DID NOT STOP ACCELERATING UNTIL I TURNED OFF THE KEY.
A LIGHT ON MY INSTRUMENT CLUSTER CAME ON. IT ILLUMINATES A MAN STRAPPED IN HIS SEAT WITH A DEPLOYED AIR BAG IN FRONT OF HIM. THE LIGHT STAYS ON. ACCORDING TO ME RESEARCH, THE PROBLEM IS COMMON TO 2015 FORD EXPLORERS. THERE IS A WIRING HARNESS UNDER THE SEAT THAT HAS BEEN FRAYED BY THE MOVEMENT OF THE SEAT WHEN IT IS BEING ADJUSTED BY THE DRIVER. THE COST TO HAVE REPAIRS MADE IS ANYWHERE FROM $1000 TO $1400. I AM TOLD THAT UNTIL IT IS REPAIRED, THE AIRBAGS WILL NOT DEPLOY. THAT SEEMS TO ME LIKE AN UNNECESSARY DESIGN FLAW, AND IT CREATES A DANGEROUS CONDITION WITH THE VEHICLE. I DON'T HAVE THE MONEY TO HAVE MINE REPAIRED, SO I GUESS I'LL JUST HAVE TO BE CAREFUL AND HOPE FOR THE BEST...
11/27/19 - I HAVE A 2015 FORD EXPLORER WITH 34,000 MILES ON IT. WHILE DRIVING MY FORD EXPLORER DOWN THE HIGHWAY AT APPROXIMATE 60 MPH, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY LOST POWER AND MY HUSBAND HAD TO LET IT COAST TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE MOTOR WAS STILL RUNNING BUT PUSHING THE GAS PEDAL DID NOTHING. THE LIGHTS ON THE DASH LIT UP, THE WRENCH ICON APPEARED ALONG WITH A MESSAGE TO CHECK THE MANUAL. WE TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF AND LET IT SIT A MOMENT, THEN RESTARTED IT AND WE WERE ABLE TO MAKE IT HOME WITHOUT ANY FURTHER ISSUES. RESEARCH SHOWED COMMON ISSUES IN 2015-2016 FORD EXPLORER MODELS WITH DEFECTIVE THROTTLE BODIES. THE DESCRIPTIONS GIVEN FOR THIS DEFECT MATCHED WHAT HAPPENED TO US PERFECTLY. WE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO OUR LOCAL DEALERSHIP AND DISCUSSED THIS ISSUE SPECIFICALLY. AFTER TAKING A LOOK AT THE VEHICLE, THEY STATED THAT THERE WERE NO ERROR CODES AND THEY COULD FIND NOTHING WRONG WITH IT. THEY SAID THEY COULDN'T RULE OUT IT BEING A THROTTLE BODY ISSUE, BUT WITHOUT A CODE TO GO BY, THERE WASN'T REALLY ANYTHING THEY COULD DO. WE LEFT AND ON THE WAY HOME, THE VEHICLE STALLED AGAIN, JUST LIKE BEFORE. THIS TIME I WAS IN TOWN GOING 25 MPH. I WILL CONTINUE TO TAKE THE VEHICLE BACK UNTIL THE ISSUE GETS RESOLVED, BUT I AM AFRAID TO KEEP DRIVING IT WITHOUT THIS BEING FIXED. WITH ALL OF THE PROBLEMS FORD HAS APPARENTLY HAD WITH THIS PARTICULAR ITEM, I DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW A RECALL HAS NOT BEEN ISSUED. I HAVE BEEN A LONG TIME FORD OWNER, BUT MY NEXT VEHICLE WILL BE ANYTHING OTHER THAN A FORD.
STEPPED ON THE GAS PEDAL TO ACCELERATE AND VEHICLE KEPT ACCELERATING AFTER REMOVING FOOT FROM PEDAL. HAD FOOT ON BRAKE WITH TIRES LOCKING UP AND ENGINE WAS STILL REVVING UP. THE FLOOR MATS WERE NOT IN THE WAY AND CRUISE CONTROL WAS NOT ACTIVATED.
The contact owns a 2015 Ford Explorer. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Numbers: 24V031000 (Structure) and 25V695000 (Back Over Prevention). The contact stated that while in reverse(R) on several occasions, the rear-view camera failed to activate; however, on other occasions, the screen displayed properly. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but informed the contact that parts for the recall repairs were not currently available. The failure mileage was approximately 95,000.
WHILE DRIVING ON STREET OR HI WAY THE DASH LIGHT TURN OFF AND ON. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AT NIGHT.
WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY ABOUT 60 MPH, HEARD WEIRD SOUND AROUND ON MY DRIVER SIDE, PULLED OVER AND THE TRIM AROUND MY WINDSHIELD WAS HANGING. I THOUGHT IT WAS SNAPPED BACK IN, AND WHEN I GOT TO WORK IT WAS COMPLETELY GONE. I WILL TAKE PICS AND ADD THEM TO THIS LATER ON.
MY VEHICLE WILL NOT START. IT WENT TO THE DEALER AT NEW SOUTH FORD IN MERIDIAN MS AND WAS THERE FOR OVER A MONTH AND IT STARTED AT THE DEALER AND WHEN I CAME HOME WE TURN IT OFF. THE NEXT MORNING, IT STARTED AGAIN BUT WHEN I TURNED IT OFF WHEN I WENT TO AN APPOINTMENT AND CAME BACK A FEW HOURS LATER IT WOULD NOT START. THE SAME THING IT WAS DOING BEFORE I TOOK IT TO THE FORD SERVICE PLACE. THEY REPLACED THE BATTERY, ANOTHER ELECTRONIC DEVICE AND WANTED TO REPLACE THE MAIN ELECTRONIC CONTROL DEVICE I BELIEVE BUT WE WERE NOT GOING TO PUT OUT MORE MONEY FOR A "I FEEL REALLY GOOD ABOUT THIS PART". THE GUY STATED IT WOULD START AND RUN BUT IT WOULD RUN BAD. IT STARTED BUT AFTER YOU TURN THE CAR OFF IT WILL NOT START UP AGAIN AS OF IT'S IN A SECURITY MODE OF SOME SORT. THE ACCESSORIES WILL COME ON, THE CAR WILL JUST NOT START. MY WIFE AND I HAVE A VERY SICKLY 3 YEAR OLD CHILD WITH LEUKEMIA CANCER, DOWN SYNDROME, BLEEDING DISORDER, OSTOMY BAG, HEART SURGERY DONE AND DOCTORS WHO HAVE UP ONE HIM STATING HE HAD 3 MONTHS TO LIVE AND IT'S BEEN OVER A YEAR NOW AND WE NEED OUR VEHICLE TO GO TO AND FROM WORK. THE FORD DEALER CLEARLY DOESN'T KNOW WHAT THE ISSUES IS. WE JUST SPENT CLOSE TO ONE THOUSAND DOLLARS FOR PARTS AND LABOR FOR A VEHICLE THAT IS STILL GIVING US THE SAME PROBLEMS.

The contact received notifications of NHTSA Campaign Numbers: 24V031000 (Structure) and 25V695000 (BACK OVER PREVENTION); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated that while driving at 60 MPH, the driver's side A-pillar trim detached from the vehicle. The local dealer was contacted and replaced the A-pillar trim. The contact stated that on a separate occasion, the contact stated that the rearview camera displayed a distorted image while the vehicle was in reverse(R). The contact stated that the failure obstructed the driver's visibility, which prevented the driver from safely operating the vehicle. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer or an independent mechanic. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The failure mileage was approximately 70,000.
I LEFT MY 2015 EXPLORER WITH JUST 31000 MILES ON IT PARKED IN THE GARAGE FOR 10 DAYS. WHEN I STARTED IT AGAIN, THE 'CHECK CHARGING SYSTEM ' LIGHT CAME ON JUST FOR A MOMENT AND CLEANED. I TRIED TO PULL THE CAR OUT OF THE GARAGE, BUT THE STEERING WHEEL WAS LOCKED. EVENTUALLY IT UNLOCKED. WHEN I STARTED DRIVING IT, A VERY LOUD GRINDING NOISE COULD BE HEARD WHEN THE STEERING WHEEL WAS TURNED LEFT OR RIGHT. THE VEHICLE DOES NOT NEED TO BE MOVING FOR CONCERN TO HAPPEN. TOOK IT TO CHARLES GABUS FORD IN DES MOINES IOWA, AND THEY TOLD ME THAT A STEERING GEAR NEEDS TO BE REPLACED TO ELIMINATE THE NOISE. THEY INSTALLED THE NEW STEERING GEAR, BUT IT COST ME $2234.00. WHEN I WENT TO PICK UP MY CAR FROM THE SHOP, THERE WAS ANOTHER EXPLORER WAITING TO BE PICKED UP AS WELL. I ASKED MY SERVICE ADVISOR WAS WRONG WITH THAT ONE, AND HE TOLD ME 'THE STEERING'. I AM A VERY DISAPPOINTED IN FORD THAT THEY DIDN'T RECALL THE STEERING WHEEL ASSEMBLY ON 2015 EXPLORERS YET. THERE ARE TOO MANY COMPLAINS ABOUT IT. MAYBE THEY ARE WAITING FOR SOMEBODY TO GET A VERY BADLY INJURED OR KILLED TO MAKE IT HAPPEN.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 FORD EXPLORER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ARMREST ON THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR PANEL HAD FRACTURED. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO GREENWAY MOTORS (LOCATED AT 310 BEDFORD RD, MORRIS, IL 60450, 815-768-1813) AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE REPAIR WAS COVERED PER A CUSTOMER SATISFACTION CAMPAIGN. THE DEALER RESTAPLED THE DOOR PANEL, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA TO FILE A COMPLAINT. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 47,000.
THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE DOOR ARM RESTS ARE COMING APART AT THE SEAMS AS IS THE CENTER CONSOLE. THE INTERIOR OF MY 2015 EXPLORER WITH 45K MILES LOOKS TERRIBLE. LOOKS LIKE IT'S 20 YEARS OLD. I AM SHOCKED.
ODOR EMANATING FROM FRONT OF VEHICLE. SMELLS LIKE GAS/PROPANE. JUST FROM DRIVING 10 MILES FROM WORK, ODOR CAN FILL MY 2 CAR GARAGE. HAVE SMELLED THIS "GAS" ODOR WHEN SUV IS PARKED AND WHEN IN MOTION.
THE FIRST INCIDENT WAS ABOUT 9MONTHS AGO I WAS DRIVING WITH MY 3 YEAR OLD ON HIGHWAY AT ABOUT 65MPH THE CAR LOCKED UP STEERING THE WHEEL. THE CAR WAS MOVING ALL DIRECTIONS ON THREE LANES AND IT WAS VERY HARD FOR ME TO ATEMPT TO STEER AS THE WHEEL WAS VERY TIGHT. IT FINALLY WENT DOWN TO 0 MPH AND I PULLED OVER THANKING GOD I DID NOT CRASH. THE LIGHTS WERE FLICKERING ALL OVER. ATTEMPTED TO TRADE AT A DEALERSHIP REGOR DYKES IN TEXAS BC I WAS SCARRED TO DRIVE IT. THEY FIXED IT AS A TRADE THEN GOT SUED AND RETURNED IT BACK TO ME AND TOOK MY NEW CAR BACK. THEN YESTERDAY I LEFT HOME TO TAKE ALL MY KIDS TO SCHOOL 3. AND GOT TO 40 MPH AND IT DID IT AGAIN LUCKILY WE WERE NOT ON A HIGHWAY. THIS TIME WHEN IT HIT 0 MPH IT WAS STILL DRIVEABLE BUT WOULD NOT ACCELERATE ABOVE 40. I'M SCARRED FOR MY LIFE IN THIS CAR AND THERE IS NOTHING I CAN DO ABOUT IT. IT IS NOW PARKED AND I DONT KNOW WHAT TO DO.
IT'S POPPING UP LOW ENGINE POWER AND IT WILL SHUT DOWN EVERYTHING FROM LIGHTS TO BLIND SPOT DETECTION. IT JUST STARTED DOING THIS AFTER RUNNING THROUGH A SMALL WATER PUDDLE.
DRIVING DOWN A HIGHWAY ROAD APPROXIMATELY SPEED OF 60 MPH AND WARNING LIGHTS ON DASH CAME ON "STEERING ASSIST FAILURE" AND A COUPLE OTHERS. LOST TOTAL CONTROL OF STEERING WAS UNABLE TO TURN THE WHEEL. VEHICLE WAS DIAGNOSED AT FREMONT FORD OF FREMONT MICHIGAN SAID TO OF HAD A FAULTY STEERING RACK AS ITS ELECTRONIC WHEN IT FAILS IT FAILS. WELL 2100$ LATER ITS REPAIRED.
WHEN THE VEHICLE IS NOT IN MOTION AND THE CLIMATE CONTROL IS ACTIVE, A BURNING OIL SMELL COMES FROM THE VENTS. THE FUMES IRRITATE THE EYES AND RESPIRATORY SYSTEM. THERE IS NO VISUAL SIGN OF ANY FLUID LEAKS.
THE FUEL GAUGE ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL IS READING THAT THE FUEL TANK IS ALMOST FULL, HOWEVER WHILE DRIVING THE LOW FUEL WARNING SENSOR CAME ON AND WE NEARLY RAN OUT OF FUEL. THE GAUGE WAS STILL READING ALMOST FULL. WE BARELY MADE IT TO A GAS STATION. AFTER PUTTING IN A FULL TANK OF GAS, THE FUEL GAUGE WAS SHOWING A COMPLETELY FULL TANK. SINCE THEN, THE GAUGE IS ALWAYS SHOWING ALMOST COMPLETELY FULL AND WILL GO DOWN ONLY TO ALMOST FULL, NOT QUITE AS LOW AS 3/4 FULL TANK, EVEN IF YOU HAVE DRIVEN OVER 300 MILES. NOW WE HAVE TO RE-SET THE TRIP ODOMETER EVERY TIME WE GET GAS, SO WE CAN CALCULATE APPROXIMATELY HOW MANY MILES WE HAVE DRIVEN SINCE THE FUEL GAUGE ONLY GOES DOWN SLIGHTLY BELOW FULL. THIS OCCURRED AROUND 50,000 MILES.
SINCE OCTOBER 2019 I HAVE HAD MY CAR IN 4 AUTO SHOPS FOR A PROPANE SMELL,, SO STRONG IT WOULD MAKE YOU FEEL SICK DRIVING. THE 4TH AUTO SHOP SAID IT WAS THE TURBOS LEAKING. WE CHANGED THOSE. NOW THE SMELL IS LESS BUT YOU CAN NOT SIT IN IDLE BECAUSE IT GETS VERY STRONG. MIND YOU THIS CAR WAS A 1 OWNER BEFORE ME, AND I BOUGHT IT USED FROM A DEALER JUNE 2019. DROVE ONLY 4 MONTHS AND NOW 4 MONTHS OF NOT BEING ABLE TO DRIVE IT BUT HAVE TO MAKE PAYMENTS ANYWAY. IM AT A LOSS! HOW CAN FORD NOT HANDLE THIS? REALLY, COPS HAVE EVEN GOTTEN IN ACCIDENTS. I CAN'T JUST DRIVE IT RISKING OUR HEALTH OR LIVES. I REALLY HOPE THEY RECALL THE WHOLE VEHICLE, IT'S NOT RIGHT TO RISK EVERYONE'S LIVES.
AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT CAME ON AROUND 65K MILES.
THE PTU, AN UNSERVICEABLE PART WENT OUT IN MY CAR. THIS IS A COMMON FAILURE. IT'S DUE TO AN INABILITY TO CHANGE THE FLUID, AS IT'S SEALED. THIS CAUSE A VERY EXPENSIVE REPAIR. FORD HAS THIS ISSUE IN ALL OF THEIR AWD VEHICLES. THEY NEED TO REPLACE OR REFUND CUSTOMERS THAT ARE AFFECTED. THEY NEED TO UPDATE THE PART WITH A SERVICE INTERVAL, DIPSTICK, FILLER TUBE AND DRAIN.
WHEN TURNING ON THE CAR SOMETIMES THE " CHECK CHARGING SYSTEM " LIGHT COMES ON. WHEN IT DOES THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKS AND YOU CANNOT TURN THE CAR LEFT OR RIGHT. YOU HAVE TO TURN OFF THE CAR AND RESTART THE CAR AND HOPE THAT THE " CHECK CHARGING SYSTEM" LIGHT DOES NOT COME ON. I IT DOES NOT COME ON THE STEERING WILL NOT LOCK. THE STEERING LOCKS ONLY WHEN YOU TURN ON THE CAR AND THE " CHECK CHARGING SYSTEM" LIGHT COMES ON. HAVE TAKEN IT OVER AND OVER TO A FORD DEALER AND THEY SAY THAT IT IS THE BATTERY, HAVE CHANGED THE BATTERY TWICE. THEN THEY SAY IT IS THE ALTERNATOR, HAVE CHANGED THE ALTERNATOR ONCE. I JUST TOOK IT AGAIN AND NOW THE DEALERSHIP SAYS IT IS THE POWER STEERING ASSEMBLY AND THAT IT IS OUT OF WARRANTY AND IT WILL COST ABOUT 2,000.00. THIS HAS HAPPEN MANY, MANY, MANY TIMES THROUGHOUT THE 3 YEARS WE HAVE HAD THIS CAR.
WHILE DRIVING THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR HANDLE MECHANISM FELL COMPLETELY APART AND OFF MY VEHICLE, OPENING THE DOOR WHEN I CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP. AFTER GETTING MY VEHICLE HOME, I CHECKED TO SEE IF IT WAS APART OF A RECALL AND SAW THAT OVER 200,000 EXPLORERS WERE RECALLED FOR THIS VERY PROBLEM. I THEN CHECKED MY VIN TO SEE IF MY VEHICLE WAS APART OF THE RECALL AND IT IS, OF COURSE, NOT.
MY HUSBAND LOSS CONSCIOUSNESS WHILE DRIVING DUE TO UNKNOWN REASONS (MEDICAL ISSUE). HE WENT OFF THE HIGHWAY AT 65 MPH AND CRASHED INTO SEVERAL TREES. DESPITE EXTENSIVE DAMAGE TO THE FRONT END, RESULTING IN A TOTAL LOSS, THE AIRBAGS NEVER DEPLOYED. MY HUSBAND LATER EXPERIENCED POST-CONCUSSION SYMPTOMS AS DIAGNOSED BY THE HOSPITAL. INJURIES MAY HAVE BEEN PREVENTED HAD THE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED.

MADE A COMPLETE RIGHT TURN LEAVING MY DRIVEWAY WITHIN 1000 FEET THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP AND I STOPPED. I WAS ABLE TO USE EXTREME FORCE TO MANUVER STEERING WHEEL TO GO BACK AND FORTH TO TURN AROUND TO GET BACK TO MY DRIVEWAY. THANKFULLY I WASN'T ON A HIGHWAY DOING 70 MPH WHEN IT OCCURED.
STEERING STARTED MAKING A GRINDING NOISE AT 55K MILES. SOUND IS MOST PRONOUNCED WHEN TURNING AT SLOW SPEEDS. DEALERSHIP AND LOCAL SHOP CONFIRM STEERING RACK AND PINION NEED TO BE REPLACED. THEY ADVISED THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH FORD EXPLORERS. DEALERSHIP ADVISED THE WARRANTY EXPIRED 1 MONTH AGO.

STEERING FAULT WARNING LIGHT COMES ON THEN THE CAR LOOSES ITS STEERING LIKE NO POWER STEERING. THIS HAS HAPPENED 4 OR 5 TIMES NOW
LOUD CLANKING NOISE WHEN PARKING CAR OR AT A SLOW SPEED, TURNING. TOOK INTO FORD DEALER TODAY AND IT WILL COST $2200 TO REPLACE.
BACK UP CAMERA GOING OUT. WORKS FOR A FEW SECONDS AND J.G THE GOES BLACK.
WE WERE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY FROM A MINI VACATION AT 70 MILES PER HOUR WHEN OUR 2015 FORD EXPLORER WHICH ONLY HAD 45,000 MILES LOGGED BEGAN TO LOSE STEERING POWER. WE ALMOST CRASHED INTO THE VEHICLE NEXT TO US ON I-94 GOING AT A VERY RAPID SPEED OF 70 MILES PER HOUR. IMMEDIATELY MY HUSBAND BEGAN TO SLOW DOWN AND TRIED TO MOVE TO THE FURTHEST RIGHT LANE. HE WAS HAVING A TREMENDOUS AMOUNT OF DIFFICULTY AS OUR CAR WOULD NOT ALLOW US TO STEER. HE FINALLY MADE IT TO THE EXIT LANE. AT THIS TIME WE NEEDED TO PULL OFF OF THE HWY AND GET A FRIEND TO TOW US HOME. WE TOOK OUR VEHICLE INTO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE WE PURCHASED IT AND THEY TOLD US THAT THEY NEEDED TO RECALCULATE OUR COMPUTER AT THE FEE OF $100. WITHIN TWO WEEKS THE SAME PROBLEM BEGAN TO HAPPEN AGAIN. WE TOOK OUR EXPLORER BACK TO THE DEALER TO REPAIR THIS PROBLEM. WE WERE NOW TOLD THAT IT IS A RACK AND PINION PROBLEM AND IT COULD BE UPWARDS OF $2,000 TO REPAIR. IT IS NOT COVERED IN OUR EXTENDED WARRANTY AND IT IS NOT COVERED BY THE UPCOMING RECALL THAT WE HAVE SCHEDULED TO REPAIR WHICH IRONICALLY IS A REAR SUSPENSION REPAIR WHICH IF NOT FIXED WILL CAUSE A PROBLEM WITH STEERING. IN MY OPINION THIS PROBLEM WILL SERIOUSLY HARM OR EVEN KILL THE OWNER AND FAMILY OF A VEHICLE THAT THIS CAN HAPPEN TO AS IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO CONTROL YOUR VEHICLE WHEN THIS OCCURS. I HOPE THAT THIS ISSUE WILL BE RESOLVED BY FORD AS THIS VEHICLE IS VERY POPULAR FOR FAMILIES DUE TO ITS SIZE AND THIS COULD BE A FATAL MISTAKE TO DRIVE THIS CAR IF THIS ISSUE HAPPENS.
