STRONG ODOR -- SIMILAR TO THAT OF NATURAL GAS -- WHEN IDLING (STOP LIGHT, TRAFFIC, ETC). IT'S BEEN HAPPENING FOR MONTHS. I'VE READ RECENT NEWS STORIES ABOUT SIMILAR ISSUES AND THOUGHT IT IMPORTANT TO ADD MY OBSERVATION TO THE MONITORING ACTIVITY.
EXHAUST ODOR INSIDE OF VEHICLE WHILE DRIVING. DIAGNOSED ON 2-14-17 TSB 16-0166.
SAW ON THE NEWS THIS MORNING THAT THERE IS A POSSIBLE ISSUE WITH CARBON MONOXIDE IN THE VEHICLE - BOTH MY WIFE AND I COMPLAIN EVERY TIME WE DRIVE THE CAR SINCE WE GOT IT THAT WE GET HEADACHES-- AND BELIEVE NOW THIS MUST BE THE CAUSE. NEED TO GET THIS FIXED.
THIS VEHICLE IS LEAKING CARBONONOXIDE AS MEASURED BY A METER. I HAVE HAD HEALTH EFFECTS CONSISTENT WITH CO EXPOSURE. THE DEALER FOLLOWED THE TSB IN AN ATTEMPT TO REPAIR THE CO LEAK. THE VEHICLE IS STILL REGISTERING A COUPLE LEAK ON THE METER. I DO NOT FEEL THAT THE VEHICLE CAN BE DRIVEN BY ME SAFELY. I HAVE REQUESTED THAT FORD BUYBACK THE VEHICLE OR ALLOW ME TO TURN THE VEHICLE IN 6 MONTHS BEFORE MY LEASE ENDS BUT FORD HAS REFUSED BECAUSE THEY HAVE SAID IT IS NOT A REQUIREMENT BY LOUISIANA LEMON LAW. I AM REQUESTING ASSISTANCE IN RETURNING THE DEFECTIVE AND UNSAFE VEHICLE TO FORD.
AFTER FORD DEALER COMPLETED THE THIRD TSB 16-0166 REPAIR TO FIX THE EXHAUST FUMES SMELL IN CABIN, I STILL HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. TSB 16-0166 REPAIR DID NOT FIX THE EXHAUST GAS FUMES SMELL IN THE CABIN. THE PROBLEM USUALLY OCCURS WITH THE AIR CONDITIONING ON, GOING UP A STEEP HILL, OR GOING OVER THE CREST OF A STEEP HILL, SPEED IS IN THE RANGE OF 45-60 MPH, AND NOT IN FULL OPEN THROTTLE.
DURING ACCELERATION AND WHILE THE AC IS ON, I GET CO2 IN THE CABIN.
WE HAVE HAD A PROBLEM WITH THIS VEHICLE REGARDING CARBON MONOXIDE. THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN ON-GOING SINCE FEBRUARY 2017. I HAVE REPAIR ORDERS SINCE THEN, AND THE NOTICE OF A RECALL FROM FORD'S WEBSITE. THE REPRESENTATIVES FROM FORD ARE NOT HELPING ME AT ALL, AND I DO NOT KNOW WHAT ELSE TO DO.
OUR FORD EXPLORER STARTED TO SMELL OF EXHAUST IN THE CAB. THIS SMELL IS EXTREMELY OVERWHELMING AND HAS CAUSED HEADACHES ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. WHEN YOU COME TO A STOP, THE CAB OF THE VEHICLE FILLS WITH EXHAUST FUMES. THIS HAPPENS AFTER DRIVING ON HIGHWAY, FREEWAY, OR CITY STREETS. WE TOOK IT IN FOR REPAIRS AND IT TOOK APPROXIMATELY TWO WEEKS TO FIND MULTIPLE PLACES WHERE THERE WERE LEAKS. THE FORD MAINTENANCE DEPARTMENT EMPLOYEES SEALED THESE LEAKS, BUT AFTER APPROXIMATELY A MONTH, THE EXHAUST FUMES HAVE STARTED TO OCCUR AGAIN. I HAVE ATTACHED THE FORM GIVEN TO US BY THE MAINTENANCE DEPARTMENT.
THERE IS A GAS/PROPANE SMELL INSIDE OF MY VEHICLE WHICH REQUIRES THE OCCUPANTS TO ROLL DOWN THE WINDOWS BECAUSE OF SAFETY CONCERNS. THE SMELL IS MORE PREVALENT WHEN ACCELERATING AND USING THE AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM. THERE IS A STRONG EXHAUST/GAS SMELL PRESENT IN THE VEHICLE CAUSING SICK CONDITIONS OF ALL PASSENGERS.
EXHAUST ODOR, CARBON MONOXIDE PRESENT IN CABIN. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT.
I AM GETTING THE EXHAUST SMELL UPON ACCELERATING. I WANT TO BE PART OF THE COMPLAINTS ALREADY IN EXISTENCE. THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 FORD EXPLORER. WHILE OPERATING THE VEHICLE, THE ODOR OF EXHAUST FUMES WAS PRESENT INSIDE THE CABIN. THE FAILURE CAUSED THE OCCUPANTS TO EXPERIENCE HEADACHES AND NAUSEA. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, BUT THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DETERMINED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 30,000.
THIS PAST WINTER MY WIFE COMPLAINED ABOUT A POPPING SOUND WHEN BACKING OUR 2015 FORD EXPLORER SPORT INTO THE GARAGE. THE PROBLEM HAS NOW BECOME INTERMITTENT AND OCCURS WHILE DRIVING ON THE ROADWAY.
AT 53,000 MILES I NOTICED THE RUBBER TRIM AROUND WINDOWS AND DOORS WAS STARTING TO DEGRADE AND DETACH FROM THE VEHICLE. I TOOK THE CAR TO GRAPEVINE FORD IN GRAPEVINE, TX. THEY SAID THAT WAS NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR AND NOT COVERED BY WARRANTY.
BRAKES FAILED ON ICE NO ABS.
The backup camera fails constantly when you put the Ford Explorer into reverse the camera works sometime and sometime it do not work a message will pop up saying that there is a problem with the camera and need to be service this is happening to a lot of the 2015 Ford Explorers and older and there should be a recall because if you look online there have been thousands of people having the same problem with their backup camera
VERY STRONG SMELL OF GAS INSIDE OF CABIN WHILE DRIVING WITH HEAT ON. *TR
SINCE JANUARY 2017, I HAVE OCCASIONS NOTICED A SULFUR TYPE EXHAUST SMELL IN THE VEHICLE CABIN WHEN MODERATELY ACCELERATING. I HAVE HAD IT IN FOR SERVICE FOR THIS PROBLEM 4 TIMES. TSB SOLUTIONS WERE PERFORMED THE FIRST 3 TIMES, AND IN KUNE 2017, I WAS TOLD THERE IS NO PROBLEM FOUND AND I SHOULD TAKE IT TO ANOTHER FORD DEALERSHIP FOR FURTHER SERVICE ON THIS PROBLEM. SINCE THE LAST SERVICE DATE OF 6/20/17, I HAVE DOCUMENTED 4 MORE OCCURRENCES OF NOTING THIS SMELL IN MY VEHICLE CABIN.
STRANGE SMELL IN CABIN OF CAR WHEN FIRST TURN AIR CONDITIONING ON. MY DAUGHTER DESCRIBES IT AS "STINKY FEET".
MY EXPLORER HAS EXHAUST FUMES ENTERING CABIN. I HAVE DEALER "FIX" IT ONCE AND COST ME 750 OUT OF MY POCKET. I STILL HAVE ISSUES AND NOT HAVING LUCK WITH DEALER HELPING. ACT AS IT IS JUST WHAT IT IS.
FREQUENT HEADACHES WHEN RIDING IN THE CAR, NAUSEA AND NOSE BLEEDS. HAPPENS AT DIFFERENT TIMES, ESPECIALLY WHEN RIDING IN THE CAR FOR LONGER PERIODS OF TIME.
On the hood, the paint is coming off (and has been for several years). It looks like maybe where it was "clamped" (for lack of better words) while they were painting the hood and maybe the paint didn't adhere like it should. I have actually seen several 2015 Ford Explorers that have the exact same paint spots missing on their hoods. One time I almost tried to get into another Explorer because it was black and the paint was missing in the same spot and i thought it was my car. My next issue is the back up camera doesn't work more often than it does. It always says unavailable. I know there have been recalls on other Fords for the exact same reason, so not sure why 2015 Ford Explorers were excluded.
EXHAUST ODOR ENTERS THE VEHICLE WHEN ACCELERATING. THE FUMES SEEM TO BE GETTING WORSE. ALSO THE LEFT FRONT DOOR PANEL IS WARPED AND COMING APART. FORD HAS NOT FIXED EITHER PROBLEM. SERVICE DEPARTMENT BLOWS THESE COMPLAINTS OFF IN HOPING I DON'T KEEP CALLING.
PURCHASED NEW 12/2014 AND HAVE HAD AN EXHAUST SMELL INSIDE THE CAR WHEN DRIVING. EXHAUST ODOR IS VERY STRONG WHEN GOING UP HILLS AND WHEN ENGINE IS UNDER A LOAD SUCH AS ACCELERATION. EVEN WITH THE A/C ON RE-CIRCULATION MODE, THE ODOR IS QUITE STRONG TO THE POINT OF HAVING TO ROLL DOWN THE WINDOWS. WE ALSO EXPERIENCE HEADACHES WHILE DRIVING FROM ALL THE FUMES. WE HAVE HAD IT TO THE DEALER FOR THIS ISSUE AT LEAST TWICE, THE FIST TIME THEY SAID NOTHING WAS WRONG. THE MOST RECENT VISIT IN DECEMBER 2016 THEY REPLACED SOME BODY SEALS ON THE BACK OF THE VEHICLE WHICH HAS HELPED SOME, BUT WE STILL HAVE FUMES GETTING INTO THE VEHICLE AND WE STILL GET THE HEADACHES. IT IS TO THE POINT THAT MY WIFE IS AFRAID TO DRIVE THE CAR. WE ARE ALSO NOW AWARE THERE HAS BEEN A SERVICE BULLETIN ON THIS VERY ISSUE SINCE 2012 AND FORD HAS BEEN AWARE OF THE PROBLEM ON THE EXPLORER. SO THEY HAVE BEEN SELLING THESE WITH A KNOWN DEFECT THAT IS A REAL SAFETY ISSUE WITH CARBON MONOXIDE POISONING. ALSO, OUR DEALER (TEAM FORD) DID NOT ADDRESS IT UNTIL WE REALLY PUSHED THE ISSUE ON THE MOST RECENT VISIT THIS PAST DECEMBER AFTER 2 YEARS OF DEALING WITH IT, BUT ITS STILL NOT SOLVED EVEN AFTER HAVING THE VEHICLE FOR 10 DAYS. WE ARE VERY CONCERNED ABOUT THIS AND VERY UNHAPPY WITH THE INITIAL DEAL RESPONSE AS WELL AS FORD SELLING US THE VEHICLE WITH A KNOWN ISSUE THAT IS QUITE DANGEROUS.
THIS CAR WAS BOUGHT NEW WITH LESS THAN A 100 MILES ON IT, AT ABOUT 7000 MILES WHILE ENTERING I 495 FROM A RAMP I STEPPED ON THE GAS AND THE STEERING LOCKED UP I QUICKLY TOOK MY FOOT OFF THE GAS AND THE STEERING UNLOCKED,I VISITED THE DEALER AND COMPLAINED THE CAR WAS CHECKED NO PROBLEM WAS FOUND ,AT 32000MILES I STARTED HEARING NOISES FROM THE FRONT OF THE CAR SOMETIMES WHILE BACKING UP THIS WAS INTERMITTENT AND I WAS NEVER ABLE TO DUPLICATE THE NOISE AT THE DEALER UNTIL I HAD A COMPLETE FAILURE AT 42700+ MILES THE NOISE WAS OCCURRING CONSTANTLY,THE DEALER' S DIAGNOSIS WAS FAILURE OF THE STEERING BOX,I AM NOT AN EXPERT BUT THIS IS A DANGEROUS PROBLEM THE FAILURE OCCURRED WHILE I WAS DRIVING AT 20 MILES PER HOUR ON CITY STREETS,IF I HAD BEEN ON THE FREEWAY AT 70 MILES AN HOUR IT COULD HAVE CREATED AN ACCIDENT WITH INJURIES AND WHO KNOWS WHAT ELSE TALKING TO THE MANUFACTURER IS USELESS MY COMPLAINT WAS AND IS BEEN IGNORED I THINK THIS CAR HAS A DEFECT IN THE STEERING SYSTEM THAT IS WORTH YOUR INVESTIGATING FOR THE CAUSE BEFORE SOMEONE IS SERIOUSLY HURT IN AN ACCIDENT.AS I WRITE THIS THE DEFECTIVE PART IS BEING REPLACED AT A FORD DEALER. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT A FUEL ODOR EMITTED FROM THE VEHICLE WHEN THE HEATER WAS ACTIVATED THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, BUT THE FAILURE WAS UNABLE TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 19,000. UPDATED 02/03/17*LJ *CN
NO ENGINE ACCELERATION THE TRUCK FAILED TO ACCELERATE WHEN ENTERING HIGHWAY CA 92 WEST BOUND. THE TRUCK MAXIMUM SPEED WAS 20-25 MPH WITH THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL FULLY EXTENDED. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON FLASHING YELLOW AND YOU COULD SMELL FUEL. THE TRUCK WAS SHAKING AND SHUTTERING.THE TRUCK WOULDN'T NOT ACCELERATE BEYOND 25 MPH ONTO TO THE HIGHWAY. I BELIEVE THE PROBLEM LIES WITH THE ECO BOOST SYSTEM.
THE AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT HAS BEEN ILLUMINATING INTERMITTENTLY OVER THE LAST YEAR OR SO. I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO KEN GRODY FORD ON SEPTEMBER 26, 2017 AND ASKED THEM TO LOOK AT IT BUT WAS TOLD THAT THEY COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG. THE LIGHT NOW IS ON ALL OF THE TIME. I RAN A VEHICLE HEALTH REPORT AND IT INDICATED "RESTRAINTS & DRIVER ASSISTANCE - URGENT SERVICE REQUIRED! - INDICATES AN ISSUE WITH THE SUPPLEMENTARY RESTRAINT SYSTEM WHICH INCLUDES THE AIR BAGS AND SEAT BELT BUCKLE PRETENSIONERS"
FOUL SMELL OF EXHAUST THROUGH VENTILATION SYSTEM WHEN TURNED ON. AIR FILTER CHANGED WITHOUT CHANGE IN PROBLEM.
VEHICLE WITH JUST OVER 31000 MILES. SUDDEN BURST OF EXHAUST FUMES, BURN EYES. DIFFICULT TO REFRESH AIR EVEN WITH 4 WINDOWS OPEN. EXHAUST FILLS INTERIOR WHENEVER STOPPING VEHICLE. VERY BAD. I WAITED OVER 20 YEARS TO GET A "NICE" VEHICLE. VERY DISAPPOINTED. DEALER WILLING TO CORRECT FOR $850.00.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 FORD EXPLORER. WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH, A STRONG EXHAUST ODOR SPREAD THROUGHOUT THE VEHICLE WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE LOCAL DEALER (PORT LAVACA FORD LOCATED AT 1801 HIGHWAY 35 SOUTH, PORT LAVACA, TX 77979; (888) 813-2728) WHO STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS OUT OF WARRANTY AND COULD NOT BE REPAIRED FOR FREE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AT 800-392-3673. THE MANUFACTURER ALSO STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS OUT OF WARRANTY AND THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 35,000.
TAKATA RECALL WHEN ACCELERATING EXHAUST CAN BE SMELLED IN THE CABIN OF THE CAR. IT APPEARS TO BE COMING OUT OF ALL OF THE AIR VENTS. IT GETS SO STRONG THAT THE WINDOWS MUST BE ROLLED DOWN IN ORDER TO CLEAR THE EXHAUST SMELL FROM THE CABIN OF THE CAR. THE CAR ALSO OFTEN HAS A VERY ROUGH IDLE. AT TIMES WHEN ACCELERATING THE AIR CONDITIONER LOSES POWER AS WELL. THIS CAR HAS BEEN TAKEN INTO A CERTIFIED FORD DEALERSHIP 3 TIMES NOW FOR ALL OF THESE ISSUES. NONE OF THE ISSUES HAVE BEEN RESOLVED. IT IS ACTUALLY SCHEDULED TO GO BACK TO A DIFFERENT CERTIFIED FORD DEALERSHIP FOR ITS FOURTH MAINTENANCE REPAIR.
STRONG EXHAUST ODOR IN PASSENGER CABIN WHEN OPERATING THE VEHICLE WITH FULL THROTTLE APPLICATIONS (E.G., PASSING, CLIMBING STEEP GRADES OR MERGING ONTO FREEWAY RAMPS)
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 FORD EXPLORER. WHILE TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL IN EITHER DIRECTION, A CLUNKING AND GRINDING NOISE WAS HEARD COMING FROM THE STEERING COLUMN. ON TWO SEPARATE OCCASIONS, THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME STUCK MOMENTARILY WHILE TURNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER AND LOCAL DEALER WERE NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 22,000. THE VIN WAS INVALID.
SPORT MODEL FRONT END HAS HAD A LOUD POPPING/ CREAK NOISE WHEN GOING OVER BUMPS AT A ANGLE AND ALSO SHARP LOW SPEED MANUEVERS ( PULLING INTO TIGHT PARKING SPACE) SINCE IT WAS BASICLY BRAND NEW. LOUD TICKING NOISE FROM FRONT HUBS AT LOW SPEEDS FIRST VISIT TO FORD WAS AT 9,000 MILES THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE IT. VEHICLE NOW HAS 32,000 MILES ROUGHLY, THE POPPING AND CREAKING HAS GOTTEN WORSE MY WIFE WAS LEAVING WORK AND WAS BACKING OUT OF HER PARKING SPOT AND THE RACK AND PINION LOCKED UP ON HER. MULLTIPLE WANRING LIGHTS CAME ON AND SHE WAS UNABLE TO STEER THE VEHICLE. SHE CALLED ME AND I TOLD HER TO CYCLE THE KEY MULTIPLE TIMES AND SEE IF IT WILL RESET TO BE ABLE TO DRIVE TO MY WORK SO I COULD SCAN IT AND SEE WHAT CODES IT HAS. SHE TOOK SURFACE STREETS TO MY WORK. IT HAD CODES P0022: CAM TIMING OVER RETARTED P052D: COLD START CAM TIMING OVER RETARTED P193E: A/C CLUTCH REQUEST SIGNAL U0121: LOST COMMUNICATION WITH ABS CONTROL MODULE C1B00: STEERING ANGLE SENSOR THIS IS THE SECOND TIME CAM PHASER CODES CAME UP. THEY REPLACED CAM PHASER THIS LAST VISIT AND VEHICLE STILL STUMBLES/MISFIRE FEEL AT IDLE. THEY WERE "UNABLE TO DUPLICATE" RACK AND PINION/ SUSPENSION NOISE. MY WIFE DOES NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING VEHICLE. IT HAS BEEN GETTING RANDOM HARD SPOTS WHILE DRIVING. I TOOK IT TO ANOTHER LOCAL FORD DEALER AND THEY WANT TO CHARGE ME FOR DIAGNOSTIC IF THEY CANT "DUPLICATE" I JUST GOT DONE PAYING FOR 3 WEEKS OF RENTAL AND CANT RISK SEVERAL HUNDRED MORE DOLLARS TO HAVE THEM, SAY THEY CANT DUPLICATE IT. SO I WILL BE PICKING UP THE EXPLORER AND I AM NOW STUCK WITH A UNSAFE VEHICLE AS THE STEERING COULD "LOCK UP" AGAIN AT ANY POINT. THERE ARE MULTIPLE CASES JUST LIKE MINE THAT I FOUND AND I AM NOT WILLING TO RISK HAVING MY WIFE AND CHILD HAVE THE RACK AND PINION FAIL WHILE SHE IS GOING DOWN THE FREEWAY WE GOT LUCKY WITH IT LOCKING UP WHILE AT LOW SPEED THE FIRST TIME.
HAVE BEEN HEARING A VIBRATION SOUND COMING FROM THE DRIVERS SIDE WINDSHIELD FOR ABOUT A WEEK BUT COULDN'T FIND THE SOURCE OF THE SOUND. TODAY, WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT 65 MPH, THE BLACK MOLDING FROM THE DRIVERS SIDE WINDSHIELD FLEW OFF. LUCKILY, THERE WAS NOBODY BEHIND US WHEN IT HAPPENED. WHEN WE WERE ABLE TO STOP AND INSPECT IT, IT WAS CLEAR THE MOLDING HAD BROKEN AT THE CLIPS AND THE VIBRATION SOUND HAD BEEN COMING FROM THERE. *TR
JULY 29, 2016 WE BOUGHT A USED 2015 FORD EXPLORER SPORT 4X4. SOMEWHERE AROUND OCT 2016 WE NOTICED EXHAUST FUMES SMELL INSIDE THE CABIN OF THE CAR. IT S ME TO BE MORE NOTICEABLE WHEN VEHICLE WAS UNDER HIGH ACCELERATION. TOOK IT TO FORD DEALER 10-12-16 WHERE THEY FOUND TAILGATE SEAL LEAKING AND IT WAS REPLACED. COUPLE WEEKS WENT BY AND SMELLED THE SAME ODOR AGAIN, TOOK IT BACK TO FORD DEALER ON 10-31-16, THEY SAY COULD FIND ANYTHING. CRAZY BECAUSE WHEN I LET AND ACCELERATED ON IT YOU COULD SMELL IT. WHEN YOU TAKE OFF FROM A STOP SIGN GETTING UP TO SPEED, PULLING OUT ONTO FREEWAY OR PASSING TRAFFIC YOU CAN SMELL IT. MY HUSBAND GOT A GAS MONITOR THAT THEY USE FOR MANHOLES AND I DROVE WITH IT FOR A FEW DAYS AND THE CO2 MONITOR WENT OFF AND WE HAVE A VIDEO. WE CALLED FORD DEALER AND SENT VIDEO AND THEY SAY WE NEED TO CALL FORD DIRECT. I HAVE BEEN RESEARCHING THIS ISSUE ON THE INTERNET AND FORD DOES NOT WANT TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT THIS PROBLEM. I CAN TELL YOU ON 3 DIFFERENT OCCASIONS THAT I HAVE GOTTEN DIZZY FROM THE FUMES AND HAD TO ROLL WINDOWS DOWN AND IT HAS GIVEN MY DAUGHTER SEVERE HEADACHE. I BOUGHT THIS USED CAR AS I CAN'T AFFORD A NEW ONE AND THIS IS MY ONLY MEANS OF TRANSPORTATION. I AM MAKING A GOOD SIZE CAR PAYMENT AND IT IS VERY FRUSTRATING THAT THIS VEHICLE HAS THIS ISSUE AND FORD CAN'T FIX IT. IT IS NOW MARCH 2017 AND STILL HAVING EXHAUST SMELL ISSUE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 FORD EXPLORER. WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH, A PIECE OF TRIM THAT CIRCLED THE WINDSHIELD ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE BLEW OFF. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE WINDSHIELD WAS NOT THE ORIGINAL PART ON THE VEHICLE, WHICH CAUSED THE TRIM PIECE TO FAIL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 33,000.
UPON ACCELERATION AT HIGH RPM (300+), A STRONG ODOR OF EXHAUST FUMES IS PRESENT INSIDE THE PASSENGER CABIN. THIS CONDITION IS TYPICAL WHEN ACCELERATING ONTO FREEWAYS, PASSING A VEHICLE OR OTHERWISE UNDER LOAD. SETTING THE ENVIRONMENTAL CONTROL CIRCULATION TO RECIRCULATE INTERIOR AIR DOES NOT PREVENT THE OCCURRENCE. LAST VISIT TO FORD DEALERSHIP ON 10 OCTOBER 2016 TO ADDRESS CONCERN FOUND NO PROBLEMS. MY VEHICLE CURRENTLY HAS 35,544 MILES AT TIME OF REPORT. IT HAS RESULTED IN NAUSEA AND HEADACHES. MY WIFE HAS EXPERIENCED ABDOMINAL PAIN THAT IS BEING TREATED BUT UNRESOLVED. I QUESTION THE AFFECT OF THE CABIN FUMES ON HER LYMPHATIC SYSTEM RESULTANT FROM EXPOSURE BEYOND NORMAL LIMITS.
OUR EXPLORER LIMITED UNIT HAS LESS THAN 21,000 MILES ON IT. WHILE ACCELERATING TO PASS ANOTHER VEHICLE, CLIMBING A HILL / MOUNTAIN OR SIMILAR SITUATION EXHAUST FUMES ENTER THE CABIN. THE A/C UNIT IS ON AND IN THE RECIRCULATION MODE WITH THE REAR A/C UNIT OPERATING. THE NOXIOUS FUMES SMELL LIKE ROTTEN EGGS / SULFURIC ACID. THE ONLY WAY TO CLEAR THE DANGEROUS EXHAUST GASES IS TO OPEN WINDOWS ALLOWING FOR A CHANGE IN THE CABIN'S ATMOSPHERE. THIS IS A RECURRING ISSUE THAT CAN BE REPLICATED. WORKING WITH THE DEALERSHIP WE PURCHASED FROM AS WELL AS FORD CORPORATE TO RESOLVE THIS DANGEROUS SITUATION. MANY UNITS ARE EXPERIENCING THIS SAME ISSUE. NO PROVEN REPAIR / FIX TO DATE. HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE FORD'S ENGINEERING TEAM TO ISOLATE THE REASON THIS OCCURS AND PROVIDE A PROVEN REPAIR / RECALL? COULD IT BE THE UNITS EXPERIENCING THIS RECURRING PROBLEM COULD BE COMING OUT OF THE SAME MANUFACTURING FACILITY?
BRAKES FAILED WHILE DRIVING. AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS AND RUNNING OFF ROAD IT FINALLY ALLOWED ME TO DEPRESS BREAK PEDAL. BREAK PEDAL HAD BECOME STUCK AND WHEN IT FINALLY WORKED THERE WAS AN AWKWARD SOUND.

CABIN, FROM DAY 1, ALWAYS FILLS WITH PUTRID, EXHAUST TYPE ODOR UNDER HARD ACCELERATION. ALTHOUGH THE "WHEN DID THIS HAPPEN" FIELD REQUIRES A DATE, THIS IS ONGOING.
I TOOK MY 2015 FORD EXPLORER IN TO HAVE IT SERVICED. I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE NEW. THE REAR PASSENGER SEAT WOULD NOT FOLD. THE FORD TECH CHARGED 105.00 TO REVIEW THE ISSUE AND STATED "THE HINGE HAS A BROKEN-FAULTY PART" HOWEVER FORD WILL NOT COVER THE REPAIR CHARGE AND IT WILL BE 980.00 TO FIX THEIR "FAULTY" HINGE. THIS IS UNBELIEVABLE, THE INTEGRITY OF THE PARTS WERE "FAULTY" AS NOTED BY THE FORD TECH AND THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE IF THE SEATS DO NOT OPERATE AS INTENDED. ANY BROKEN PARTS DUE TO 'FAULTY" WORKMANSHIP SHOULD BE REPLACED AT NO CHARGE TO THE OWNER AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. I WAS TOLD FORD WARRANTY WILL NOT COVER THIS EXPENSE EVEN THOUGH THE PARTS WERE 'FAULTY" TO BEGIN WITH! IF SEATS ARE NOT SAVE AND OPERATE AS INTENDED, I BELIEVE IT'S A SEVERE SAFETY CONCERN, ESPECIALLY WITH YOUNG PEOPLE IN CAR SEATS IN THE BACK, WHAT OTHER ISSUES COULD ARISE FROM THIS "FAULT?"
MY TIE ROD AND ROD AND NAVIGATION SYSTEM WHICH ARE ELECTRIC BROKE WHILE I WAS DRIVING MY VEHICLE. THERE WAS NO FORWARNING OF THE EVENT. I WAS ON THE HIGHWAY, DRIVING AT TRAFFIC SPEED, FAST MOVING CARS EVERYWHERE, LEFT, RIGHT AND CENTRE, FRONT AND BACK ALL GOING ABOVE SPEED LIMITS, NO STEERING CONTROL, NO SAFETY RAMP VISIBLE FOR A FEW KILOMETRES. SUDDENLY I FOUND MYSELF UNABLE TO STEER MY WHEELS, THE INSTRUMENT PANEL LISTED "LOSS OF NAVIGATION SYSTEMS" AND IN RED 'LOSS STEERING CONTROL STOP SAFELY'. THE CAR HAS HAD A SINGLE OWNER, NEVER INVOLVED IN ANY HIGH IMPACT COLLISION, WAS DRIVEN MAINLY IN URBAN AREAS, ONLY 58,813 MILES, PURCHASED DIRECTLY FROM THE DEALERSHIP. I HAD ONLY 6 MILES ON THE SPEEDOMETER WHEN I TOOK OWNERSHIP OF THE CAR.
WHEN UNDER LOAD (I.E. CLIMBING HILL) OR FAST ACCELERATION (PASSING A VEHICLE) THERE IS A STRONG ODOR OF EXHAUST IN THE PASSENGER CABIN. THE ODOR IS COMING FROM THE AIR VENTS THROUGHOUT THE VEHICLE. WINDOWS MUST BE OPENED TO GET RID OF THE SMELL. THIS OCCURS PRIMARILY AND WAS MOST NOTICEABLE WHEN THE AIR CONDITIONER UNIT WAS OPERATED (ON RECIRCULATING AIR SETTING) AND WHILE DRIVING UP AN INCLINE. . NOTE: ALTHOUGH THIS ISSUE IS REPORTED AS OCCURRING ON THE DATE INDICATED, WE HAVE NOTICED IT MULTIPLE TIMES WITH THE SAME SYMPTOMS AND CIRCUMSTANCES!
STEERING INOPERABLE DURING DRIVING. 41000 MILES, VEHICLE HAD DIFFICULTY STARTING AT 6PM EST. 30 MINUTES PRIOR TO FAILURE, VEHICLE WAS WASHED AND TAKEN TO A GAS STATION TO FILL UP. UPON LEAVING FILLING STATION CAR WOULD NOT START UNTIL AFTER 15 MINUTES. STEERING WAS VERY LABORIOUS TO TURN STEERING WHEEL TO MAKE A LEFT OR RIGHT (UNABLE TO MOVE STEERING WHEEL MORE THAN 1/4 OF INCH IN EITHER DIRECTION). SPEED LIMIT WAS 40 MPH ON LOCAL ROAD AND 15 MINUTES OF DRIVE TIME. TOW TRUCK WAS NECESSARY TO MOVE VEHICLE AS OPERATOR COULDN'T TURN AND STOP OPERATION TO AVOID FATALITY. NO PREVIOUS INDICATION IN VEHICLE SYMPTOM NOTICE UNTIL FAILURE OCCURRED.
