1995 FORD F-150 PARKED IN MY GARAGE ERUPTED IN FLAMES CAUSING THE HOUSE TO BURN DOWN. FIRE STARTED UNDER THE HOOK FOR THE TRUCK. THE TRUCK HAD NOT BEEN MOVED OR STARTED FOR APPROX. 2 WEEKS. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 1995 FORD F-150. WHENEVER THE CONTACT TURNS THE STEERING WHEEL, THE HORN DOES NOT WORK. THE FAILURE WAS NOTICED WHILE DRIVING 25 MPH. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT YET BEEN TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 127,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 129,000. I HAD A FORD F150 AND ONE MORNING WE WERE WOKE UP TO THE HORN BLOWING. WE LOOKED OUT TO SEE THE TRUCK GO UP IN FLAMES. WE DON`T KNOW WHAT HAPPENED BECAUSE THE TRUCK SAT IN THE DRIVE ALL NIGHT. WE DID NOT KNOW OF ANY RECALLS THAT CAUSE FIRES. BUT WE DO NOT KNOW IF THAT WAS IT. THERE WAS NOTHING LEFT OF THE TRUCK AND THE INSURANCE CO. HAULED IT AWAY. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 1995 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT FLAMES ERUPTED FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT APPROXIMATELY THREE HOURS AFTER HE PARKED. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE, BUT WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE FIRE. AS OF JANUARY 2, 2008, THE DEALER HAD NOT INSPECTED THE VEHICLE TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE FIRE. IN ADDITION, THE FIRE DESTROYED THE VEHICLE. THERE IS A RECALL FOR THE VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL (NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID #07V336000). THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THEY SENT FOUR RECALL NOTICES HOWEVER, THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE NEVER RECEIVED THE RECALL NOTICES. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 169,000. 1995 FORD F-150 CAUGHT FIRE. CONSUMER STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT HE RECEIVED FOUR NOTICES OF THE RECALL. *KB THE CONSUMER STATED HE WAS NOT AWARE OF A RECALL. HE ALSO STATED THAT PRIOR TO THE FIRE, THE CRUISE CONTROL HAD STOPPED WORKING. *JB

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 1995 FORD F-150. THE VEHICLE CAUGHT FIRE UNDER THE HOOD NEAR THE MASTER CYLINDER. THE VEHICLE SUSTAINED MAJOR DAMAGE AND IS NOT ABLE TO BE DRIVEN. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE CONTACT DID NOT RECEIVE A RECALL LETTER; HOWEVER, FORD STATED THAT HER VEHICLE IS A PART OF THE VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL RECALL. THE RECALL NUMBER WAS UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 284,000.
TWO DRIVEWAY FLAT TIRES DUE TO UNUSUAL AND NON REPAIRABLE CRACKS IN THE TIRE SIDEWALLS. ONE BLOW OUT ON THE HIGHWAY AT APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH ONE MONTH AGO WITH NEAR TREAD SEPARATION. AND ONE SEVERE BLOW OUT TWO DAYS AGO ON HIGHWAY AT 70 MPH, COMPLETE TREAD SEPARATION. ALL ON SAME TIRES , BRIDGESTONE DUELER AT 693, 31X10.50 R15S. I STILL HAVE THE MOST RECENT THREE. *AK
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 1995 FORD F-150. AFTER BEING PARKED FOR APPROXIMATELY FIVE OR SIX HOURS, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY CAUGHT FIRE AND WAS COMPLETELY DESTROYED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A SALVAGE YARD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE HAD NOT RECENTLY BEEN REPAIRED AND WAS RUNNING FINE. HE BELIEVES THAT THE CRUISE CONTROL WAS THE CAUSE OF THE FIRE. THE GARAGE WHERE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED AT THE TIME WAS HEAVILY DAMAGED. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 164,000.
THERE WAS AN UNDER HOOD FIRE IN THE 1995 FORD F-150. I DROVE IT THE NIGHT BEFORE AND GOT HOME ABOUT 11:00 PM. I WOKE UP TO SEE THE TRUCK IN FLAMES ABOUT 8:00 AM THE NEXT DAY. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT PUT THE FIRE OUT, AND SAID IT WAS AN ELECTRICAL FIRE THAT STARTED ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE OF THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. THIS SOUNDED LI,K KE THE CRUISE CONTROL SWITCH PROBLEM. LUCKILY NO ONE WAS HURT AND NO OTHER PROPERTY WAS DAMAGED.*AK

THE CONTACT COULD NOT GET UNDER THE HOOD TO EXTINGUISH THE FIRE. SHE RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FOR NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 05V388000 (VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL); HOWEVER, SHE DID NOT RECEIVE A NOTICE PRIOR TO THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED AND A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. FORD STATED THAT THE CONTACT DENIED RECEIVING ANY NOTICES BECAUSE THEY SENT THEM TO HER RESIDENCE. FORD STATED THAT NOTHING COULD BE DONE BECAUSE THE VEHICLE WAS ONLY COVERED BY LIABILITY INSURANCE. THE PURCHASE DATE WAS UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE APPROXIMATELY 147,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 1995 FORD F-150. THE VEHICLE HAD A SAFETY RECALL ON THE CRUISE CONTROL MODULE REGARDING LEAKING FLUID. THE SAFETY RECALL REPAIR WAS PERFORMED TWO YEARS AGO, BUT WAS REPLACED AGAIN ON APRIL 16, 2007 FOR LEAKING FLUID THAT CAUSED THE CRUISE CONTROL TO BECOME INOPERABLE. THE CRUISE CONTROL FAILED WHILE THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING. THE CONTACT PULLED OVER AND FOUND FLUID LEAKING FROM THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE LEAKING FLUID IS THE CAUSE OF THE CRUISE CONTROL FAILURE. THE CONTACT BELIEVES THE SWITCH IS DEFECTIVE. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 71,094.
1995 FORD F150 SPONTANEOUSLY EXPLODED SPREADING SPARKS AND FIRE TO HOUSE, SURROUNDING AREA PROPERTY, AND LIFT VAN CAUSING EXTENSIVE FIRE DAMAGE TO HOUSE, SURROUNDING AREA PROPERTY, AND LIFT VAN. *NM
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 1995 FORD F150. THE VEHICLE CAUGHT FIRE IN THE CONTACT'S DRIVEWAY. SHE EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE AND CALLED THE FIRE DEPARTMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DESTROYED. 1995 F150 WITH 120 000 KMS, MADE IN USA, 4/95, #1) BOTH RADIUS ARM BRACKET/BUSHING ASSEMBLIES REPLACED. PART IS RIVETED TO FRAME. BOTH COMPONENTS FAILED: (A) CAUSING RADIUS ARM TO 'FLOP' IN ITS BORE, STEERING & BRAKING CONTROL PROBLEMS; (B) CAUSES RADIUS ARM AND NUT AND INSULATOR TO PROTRUDE FORCEFULLY THROUGH THE BRACKET, DUE TO METAL FATIGUE. THE BRACKETS ACT AS AN EXTENSION OF THE 1/4" THICK FRAME, BUT ARE CONSTRUCTED OF 14 GA MILD STEEL, CONNECTED TO A 3/4" SOLID, TREATED, PIVOTING ROD BY AN 1 1/4" NUT, AT HIGH TORQUE SETTING. TRAVELING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS COULD POTENTIALLY BE DISASTROUS UPON FAILURE, AS THE PROPER CAMBER OF THE FRONT WHEELS RELY ON THEIR INTEGRITY. -FORD PARTS WORKER ASSURES, "WE REPLACE THOSE ALL THE TIME." #2 FAILURES OF BOTH REAR LEAF SPRING-SHACKLE FRAME BRACKETS. UNDER-ENGINEERED, .020" THICK BRACKETS, INTEGRAL TO 1/4" FRAME, BY 1/2" RIVETS. BOTH PARTS 'RIPPED', CAUSING SHACKLES AND THE LEAF SPRINGS TO BANG INTO THE TRUCK BOX AND BOUNCE UNCONTROLLABLY UPON HIGHWAY DRIVING. FAILURE OF SECOND BRACKET DUE TO CORROSION OF METAL - MUCH TOO THIN FOR THE JOB. PICTURES CONCLUDE THE NEGLIGENCE IN ITS DESIGN.* BRACKETS, GRADE 8 BOLTS AND NUTS, BUSHING AND SHACKLES MUST BE REPLACED SIMULTANEOUSLY IN ORDER TO REPAIR THE ISSUE: BACK TO ITS ORIGINAL INFERIORITY. Q: HOW DOES ONE ACCESS DOCUMENTS THAT PROVE SUITABILITY OF A VEHICLE'S STRUCTURAL COMPONENT? --DOES THE GOVERNMENT NOT HAVE ANY STANDARDS FOR FORD TO FOLLOW? --DO THE ENGINEERS FOLLOW THE LAWS OF BASIC PHYSICS WHEN THEY DESIGN THIS SORT OF COMPONENT? --CAN FORD REALLY GET AWAY WITH SELLING A PRODUCT THAT IS EXPECTED TO FAIL, ONLY TO MAKE MONEY ON THE RESALE OF A REPLACEMENT? --SAFETY STANDARDS MUST BE PUT INTO PLACE SOMEWHERE: WHO ENFORCES THEM? -- WHO WAS THE ENGINEER? INVESTIGATED COMPLAINT OF CLUNKING NOISE AND POOR HANDLING OF TRUCK NORMALLY DRIVEN BY MY SON. IT IS A 1995 FORD F150 2WD W/ 5.0L. FOUND REAR HANGERS ON BOTH LEAF SPRINGS HAD RUSTED OUT AND SPRINGS WERE NOW BEARING DIRECTLY ON THE BOTTOM OF THE TRUCK BED WITH NO CONNECTION TO FRAME. SHACKLES WERE ALSO RUSTED TO A DANGEROUS STATE. ALSO OBSERVED A FRACTURE IN A SIMILARLY RUSTED AND WEAKENED FRONT SUSPENSION COMPONENT WHICH WILL HAVE TO BE REPLACED IN THE NEAR FUTURE. GROUND OFF RIVETS AND REMOVED HANGERS AND SHACKLES. REPLACED WITH PARTS PURCHASED FROM LOCAL FORD DEALER. HE KNEW EXACTLY WHAT I NEEDED. STATED THAT THIS WAS HAPPENING TO MANY OTHER OWNERS OF 1990 FORD PICKUPS. TOTAL COST FOR PARTS ~$150 SO FAR PLUS ~ 6 HOURS OF LABOR. *JB
PARKED TRUCK AT 5:30PM IN CARPORT. AT 1:30 AM TRUCK WAS ON FIRE. CRUISE CONTROL MALFUNCTIONED AND TRUCK CAUGHT ON FIRE. CARPORT AND SIDE OF HOUSE BURNED ALSO. FILED COMPLAINT AND LIABILITY WITH FORD INC IN DETROIT MICHIGAN. *NM
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE BOLTS ATTACHING THE SEAT RECLINER TO THE SEAT FRAME FRACTURED CAUSING THE SEAT TO SUDDENLY RECLINE. THERE IS AN NHTSA RECALL, #96E010000, REGARDING THE SEATS. THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL.
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS GASOLINE SPILLING OUT OF THE FILLER NECK OF THE REAR FUEL TANK. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A SERVICE DEALER, WHERE THE DEALER DETERMINED THAT THE PUMP IN THE REAR TANK FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AT THAT TIME. THERE IS A NHTSA RECALL # 93V125000, PERTAINING TO THE FUEL TANK ASSEMBLY HOWEVER THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL.
FORD HAS A RECALL ON THE CRUISE CONTROL SWITCHES FOR THE F150 TRUCKS THAT HAVE NOT BEEN REPLACED YET I JUST FOUND THIS OUT WHEN LOOKING ON THE WEB TODAY FOR THE RECALLS ON THIS TYPE OF TRUCK. MINE CAUGHT ON FIRE THIS MORNING AND BURNT TO THE GROUND THE ONLY THING LEFT IS THE BED AND THE BACK TIRES. *JB
I NOTICED THAT MY TRUCK (1995 FORD F150) LOWERED QUICKLY UPON BEING LOADED AND THAT IT FELT UNSTABLE. THE BED OF MY TRUCK WAS FULLY LOADED AND WHILE GOING AROUND A CORNER I NEARLY LOST CONTROL. AFTER THIS INCIDENT I INSPECTED THE REAR SPRINGS TO NOTICE THE REAR MOUNTS THAT ATTACH THE LEAF SPRINGS TO THE FRAME HAD TOTALLY RUSTED APART AND WHERE NO LONGER ATTACHED TO THE FRAME. I HAVE NOW PURCHASED PARTS AND PLAN TO REPAIR ($116.00) *JB
ABS LIGHT WAS BLINKING;TRUCK WOULD NOT SHIFT OUT OF PARK;NO HAZARD LIGHTS;AND NO BRAKE LIGHTS. MECHANIC FOUND THE SPEED CONTROL SWITCH IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT MELTED WHICH ALSO MELTED PART OF THE BRAKE RESERVOIR CONTAINER.[1995 F150]*JB
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING AT NO SPECIFIC SPEED, SPILLAGE OCCURS FROM THE SECONDARY GAS TANK. REGARDLESS, OF THE AMOUNT OF FUEL THAT IS IN THE PRIMARY OR SECONDARY TANK THE SPILLAGE HAPPENS. THE CONTACT INFORMED THE DEALER OF THE PROBLEM. I NOTICED WHEN I BOUGHT THE TRUCK IN NOVEMBER OF 2005 THAT THE OIL PAN WAS VERY WET WITH OIL. THINKING IT MAY HAVE BEEN A LOOSE GASKET I RE-TORQUED THE PAN BOLTS. IT CONTINUED TO LEAK OIL. I CLEANED THE PAN OF ALL OIL AND NOTICED THE PAN HAD A LOT OF RUSTY AREAS. THE OIL LEAKS WERE IN AREAS WHERE THE PAN HAD THE WORST RUST SPOTS WITH THE METAL OF THE PAN BEING EATEN AWAY BY THE RUST. TWO AREAS HAD TINY HOLES RANGING IN SIZE FROM A TIP OF A PIN TO THE LARGER ONE WHERE IT WOULD LIGHTLY SQUIRT OUT WHILE THE ENGINE WAS RUNNING. THE OTHER TWO LEAKED SLOWLY LIKE FROM A SPONGE. TWO OF THE LEAKS WERE ON THE FRONT OF THE PAN AND TWO WERE AT THE BOTTOM REAR OF THE PAN. I SHUT THE ENGINE DOWN REMOVED THE DRAIN PLUG AND LET THE OIL DRAIN OUT OF THE PAN OVERNIGHT. THEN I SANDED BY HAND THE AREAS WITH THE LEAKS AND APPLIED LAYERS OF JB WELD TO COVER THE RUSTED OUT AREAS. IT HAS HELD SO FAR BUT I CERTAINLY EXPECT MORE HOLES TO APPEAR AT ANYTIME. I KEEP AN EYE ON THE OIL PRESSURE GAUGE AND CHECK UNDER THE TRUCK AT INTERVALS TO MAKE SURE NOTHING IS LEAKING. AFTER SEARCHING THE INTERNET I HAVE FOUND OTHERS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. LUCKILY I SAW AND INVESTIGATED THE OIL LEAK BUT SOMEONE ELSE NOT AWARE OF THE PROBLEM WOULD HAVE ENDED UP WITH AN ENGINE WITH NO OIL LEFT IN IT AND A SCENARIO FOR MAJOR ENGINE DAMAGE OR EVEN AN ACCIDENT. I FOUND OUT THE REPLACEMENT OF THE OIL PAN IS VERY EXPENSIVE AS THE ENTIRE ENGINE MUST BE LIFTED IN ORDER TO REMOVE THE PAN. THIS ALL SOUNDS TO ME LIKE A DEFECTIVE OIL PAN, INFERIOR METAL USED, OR THE COATING APPLIED TO THE PAN DIDN'T WORK AS IT WAS SUPPOSED TO. *NM

THE VEHICLE HAS THE SAME PROBLEMS AS INDICATED IN THE RECALL; HOWEVER IT IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL DUE TO THE VIN. UPDATED 3/3/2006 - THE SEAT BACK RETAINING BOLT SHEARED IN HALF AND CAUSED THE SEAT TO UNEXPECTEDLY COLLAPSE. *NM

ON 9/19/05 I RECEIVED A RECALL REGARDING A PROBLEM WITH THE SPEED CONTROL MECHANISM ON MY 1995 FORD F150. ON 9/20/05 THE LOCAL DEALER (SANDERS FORD) DISCONNECTED THE WIRING HARNESS TO THE SPEED CONTROL MECHANISM. I WAS TOLD THAT NOTHING ELSE ON MY VEHICLE WOULD BE AFFECTED. TO MY SURPRISE, THE "STOP GAP" PROCEDURE PERFORMED ON MY VEHICLE DOES NOT WORK WITHOUT RENDERING THE VEHICLE UNSAFE TO OPERATE, AS I DISCOVERED LATER IN THE DAY THAT THE HORN ON MY VEHICLE WAS NOT FUNCTIONING. I RETURNED MY VEHICLE TO SANDERS FORD ON 9/21/05 AND WAS BASICALLY TOLD THAT NOTHING COULD BE DONE TO RETURN MY HORN TO A FUNCTIONAL STATE UNLESS I SIGNED A WAIVER AND ASSUMED RESPONSIBILITY FOR ANY DAMAGES RESULTING FROM THE DEFECT IDENTIFIED IN THE RECALL. THE PART TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM IS NOT EXPECTED UNTIL ABOUT LATE NOVEMBER. IN THE MEANTIME, AND AS LONG AS THE WIRING HARNESS IS DISCONNECTED, MY VEHICLE IS UNSAFE TO OPERATE WITHOUT A HORN. THE FOLLOWING WAS E-MAILED TO FORD MOTOR COMPANY ON 9/21/05 : "THE RESPONSE TO MY LAST E-MAIL FAILED TO ADDRESS MY REAL CONCERN (NO HORN AFTER THE WIRING HARNESS IS DISCONNECTED). I CANNOT SAFELY OPERATE MY VEHICLE WITHOUT A HORN UNTIL THE FUSED WIRING HARNESS IS INSTALLED. NOR DO I FEEL I SHOULD HAVE TO SIGN A WAIVER IF THE WIRING TO MY HORN IS RECONNECTED, AS ADVISED BY THE DEALER. NEED RESOLUTION." THE ABOVE INFORMATION, IN NO WAY IS INTENDED TO CRITICIZE OR COMPLAIN ABOUT THE SERVICE RENDERED BY SANDERS FORD OR ANY OF ITS EMPLOYEES. DT: THE TRUCK CAUGHT ON FIRE THIS MORNING WHILE SITTING IN THE DRIVEWAY. THERE WAS NO OTHER PROPERTY DAMAGE, AND NO ONE WAS INJURED. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT PUT THE FIRE OUT. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT INDICATED THE FIRE CAME FROM THE ENGINE ONLY. THE CRUISE CONTROL STOPPED WORKING ABOUT TWO WEEKS AGO. THE VEHICLE'S OWNER HAD JUST FOUND OUT ABOUT FORD FIRES RELATED TO THE CRUISE CONTROL.*AK *NM
I OBSERVED SMOKE COMING FROM THE UNDERHOOD AREA OF MY PARKED 1995 FORD F150 PICK UP. UPON OPENING THE HOOD I OBSERVED THE BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER RESERVOIR AND CRUISE CONTROL PRESSURE SWITCH TO BE ON FIRE. THE FIRE WAS SO INTENSE IT MELTED THE PAINT OFF THE HOOD AND I HAD TO USE A FIRE EXTINGUISHER TO PUT IT OUT. *NM
ON SATURDAY AUGUST 26, 2005 THIS 1995 FORD F150 WAS DRIVEN APPROXIMATELY 10 MILES AND PARKED IN A PARKING LOT. ON THE WAY TO THE BUSINESS I ATTEMPTED TO USE THE CRUISE CONTROL WHICH FAILED TO WORK. I WAS IN THE BUSINESS FOR 1 1/2 HOURS AND RETURNED TO THE TRUCK. WHEN I GOT INTO THE TRUCK I NOTICED WHITE SMOKE COMING FROM UNDER THE HOOD. I DID NOT ATTEMPT TO START THE TRUCK AND IMMEDIATELY GOT OUT. I THEN TRIED TO OPEN THE HOOD WHICH FAILED TO RELEASE. I LOOKED THROUGH THE SPACE BETWEEN THE HOOD AND FENDER AND NOTICED FLAMES. I IMMEDIATELY HAD SOMEONE CALL 911. THE TROY FIRE DEPARTMENT SHOWED UP IN APPROXIMATELY 4 MINUTES AND AFTER PRYING THE HOOD OPEN EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT STATED THAT THE FIRE WAS ELECTRICAL IN NATURE AND RECOMMENDED DISCONNECTING THE BATTERY TO PREVENT FURTHER FIRE WHICH WAS DONE. PRIOR TO THIS INCIDENT THE TRUCK WAS RUNNING WITHOUT ANY PROBLEMS EXCEPT FOR THE FAILURE OF THE CRUISE CONTROL. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED AND IS AVAILABLE FOR INVESTIGATION AND INSPECTION IF NECESSARY. *JB
MY SON WAS STOPPED AT AN ATM MACHINE. HE NOTICED SMOKE COMING FROM UNDER THE HOOD. HE RAISED THE HOOD TO FIND THE WIRE HARNESS ON FIRE. HE IMMEDIATELY RAN INTO A LOCAL STORE, GRABBED A FIRE EXTINGUISHER AND PUT OUT THE FIRE. WE CALLED THE LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP AND THEY STATED THAT THERE WAS ONLY A PROBLEM WITH F-150 TRUCKS DATED YEARS 1999-2001. OUR PRIVATE MECHANIC CALLED FORD TO SEE ABOUT GETTING A WIRE HARNESS FOR THE VEHICLE AND WAS TOLD THEY DIDN'T HAVE THE PART FOR A VEHICLE OLDER THAN 7 YEARS. WE HAD TO USE A USED HARNESS TO FIX THE TRUCK. WE STILL HAVE THE ORIGINAL HARNESS. THE MASTER CYLINDER, BRAKE LINES, INSIDE FENDER WELL AND WIRE HARNESS INCLUDING FUSE BOX HAD TO BE REPLACED. *NM
TRUCK = 1995 FORD F-150 WITH 302 CU. IN. CRUISE CONTROL STOPPED WORKING ON TRUCK BRAKE LIGHT FUSE BLEW REPLACED 15 AMP FUSE WITH 20 AMP FUSE, WITHIN SECONDS CRUISE-CONTROL DEACTIVATION SWITCH STARTED TO SMOKE AND MELT FROM WITHIN. REMOVED FUSE IMMEDIATELY. *NM
SPEED CONTROL DEACTIVATION SWITCH ON THE FRONT OF THE MASTER CYLINDER CAUGHT FIRE. MINIMAL DAMAGE BUT LOTS OF SMOKE. IT WAS CAUGHT VERY EARLY. I UNDERSTAND THERE IS A RECALL AND AN ONGOING INVESTIGATION. THIS INCIDENT JUST OCCURRED AND I HAVE NOT HAD IT REPAIRED. I DIDN'T KNOW IF THIS WOULD HELP THE INVESTIGATION OR NOT. *JB
DRIVING DOWN ROAD WHEN TRUCK CAUGHT ON FIRE UNDERNEATH HOOD. WHILE TRYING TO PUT OUT FIRE, I SUFFERED A BURN ON MY LEFT ARM AND ON A FINGER. I WAS IN THE PROCESS OF TRYING TO HAVE MY TRUCK REPAIRED WHEN I WAS TOLD BY THE MECHANIC THAT HE THOUGHT THAT THERE WAS A RECALL AND TO LOOK INTO IT FURTHER. I WILL HAVE TO PAY FOR MY TRUCK TO BE REPAIRED AND BECAUSE IT IS MY WORK TRUCK AND I AM SELF-EMPLOYED, I HAVE LOST WAGES. *NM
I PARKED AND SECURED MY 1995 FORD F-150 AND WENT TO WORK. APPROXIMATELY 15 MINUTES LATER A FIRE STARTED IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE. THE SECURITY AND FIRE DEPARTMENT OF MY PLACE OF EMPLOYMENT RESPONDED QUICKLY (FIFTEEN MINUTES OR LESS) AND EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE. THEY BROKE THE DRIVER SIDE WINDOW IN AN EFFORT TO GAIN ACCESS BUT THE HOOD LATCH CABLE HAD ALREADY BEEN DISABLED BY THE FIRE SO ACCESS WAS GAINED BY PRYING OPEN THE HOOD. EVERYTHING ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE OF THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT WAS RUINED. THE FIREMAN AT THE SCENE POINTED OUT THE CRUISE CONTROL DEACTIVATION SWITCH AS THE PROBABLE CAUSE OF THE FIRE. MY INSURANCE AGENT (USAA) HAS NOT AS OF YET GOTTEN BACK WITH ME AS TO THE ESTIMATED EXTENT OF THE DAMAGES BUT CONSIDERING THE EXTENSIVE ELECTRICAL AND OTHER DAMAGE IT IS MY PREDICTION THAT THE TRUCK WILL BE CONSIDERED AS A TOTAL LOSS. FORD KNOWS OF THIS POTENTIAL PROBLEM AND HAS NOT IN MY OPINION TAKEN APPROPRIATE ACTION THROUGH RECALLS.*JB
DT: THERE WERE NO INDICATIONS LEADING UP TO THE PROBLEM. THE CONSUMER DROVE THE VEHICLE AT 8:00 AM AND AT 2:30 PM THE 1995 FORD F150 HAD CAUGHT ON FIRE. THE TRUCK WAS TOTALLED ON 7/28/05. THE FIRE SPREAD FROM THE ENGINE TO THE FIREWALL AND THEN TO THE CAB. THE FIRE ALSO CAUSED SOME DAMAGE TO THE HOUSE: BROKE SOME OF THE WINDOWS AND BURNED SOME OF THE BUSHES. DT: TRUCK BURNED AFTER SITTING IN THE DRIVEWAY FOR NINE HOURS. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT CAME AND A REPORT WAS TAKEN. THE DEALER WOULD NOT TALK TO THE CONSUMER ABOUT WHAT CAUSED THE FIRE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT WILLING TO OFFER ANY HELP TO THE CONSUMER BECAUSE THERE WAS ONLY LIABILITY INSURANCE ON THE VEHICLE. THEY SAID THEY DID ALL THEY COULD DO SINCE THERE WAS NO FIRE INSURANCE COVERAGE ON THE VEHICLE. THE FIRE STARTED ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE OF THE ENGINE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOTALED. *AK *MR *JB
TRUCK WAS PARKED IN THE DRIVEWAY APPROX. 20-30 MINUTES WHEN IT BURST INTO FLAMES. IT MELTED THE SIDING ON THE GARAGE. TRUCK WAS TOTALED AND THERE WAS APPROX. $4000.00 DAMAGE TO THE FRONT OF THE HOUSE AND DRIVEWAY. FORD WAS NOTIFIED AND STATED THAT THERE WAS NOT RECALLS ON THIS TRUCK AND THAT THEY WERE NOT LIABLE FOR ANY DAMAGES. SINCE THEN A RECALL HAS BEEN ISSUED FROM FORD FOR THIS TRUCK. *NM
DT: CONTACT STATES ON 6-15-05 HER HUSBAND WAS DRIVING 1995 FORD F150. WHEN ATTEMPTING TO LEAVE THE PARKING LOT COULD NOT GET TRUCK OUT OF PARK. HE SHUT THE CAR OFF, PUT IT IN NEUTRAL, AND WAS ABLE TO DRIVE THE CAR. LATER THE ABS LIGHT CAME ON AND BLINKED 15 TIMES. WHEN HE GOT HOME REALIZED DID NOT HAVE ANY BRAKE LIGHTS. DROVE ANOTHER VEHICLE TO WORK THE NEXT DAY AND CALLED THE DEALERSHIP, AND HE SAID IT SOUNDED LIKE A BAD FUSE. SUNDAY MORNING HE WENT TO CHANGE THE FUSE, AND AS HE WAS INSTALLING A FUSE, HE HEARD A HISSING NOISE AND A SMOKE CAME OUT FROM THE HOOD. HE RAISED THE HOOD AND NOTICED THAT THE CRUISE CONTROL SWITCH WAS COMPLETELY CHARRED. CONSUMER DISCONNECTED THE SWITCH BECAUSE HE HAD SEEN IT DONE ON THE OTHER 2000 F150 THEY OWNED, AND HE WAS AFRAID OF A FIRE COULD START. IMMEDIATELY CALLED FORD, AND THEY DID NOT ANSWER. SHE CALLED AGAIN AND SHE TOLD FORD SHE WAS RECORDING THEM. THEY REFUSED TO GIVE HER THE NHTSA PHONE NUMBER. THEY SAID THEIR COMPUTER WAS DOWN AND THEY COULD NOT PROVIDE ANY INFORMATION. SHE CALLED BACK LATER, AND WAS TOLD THEM THE SAME THING. THEY SAID THEY STILL HAVE THE TRUCK, AND NHTSA WAS WELCOME TO COME AND CHECK IT. *AK
THE FIRE STSRTED IN THE FORD F150 AFTER WE HAD GONE TO BED AND ABOUT 3 HOURS AFTER PARKING THE TRUCK, IN THE DRIVE IN FRONT OF A GARAGE DOOR. THE FIRE TOTALED MY "BABY". AFTER SEEING THE NBC STORY ON FORDS I TRIED TO CONTACT FORD MOTOR CO. VAI E MAIL. O DATE NO RESPONSE.
I HAD DRIVEN FROM BUFFALO ON THE THRUWAY DOING 65 MPH TO BARKER NY AND PULLED INTO A PARKING PLACE WHEN THE FRONT RADIUS ARM BRACKET GAVE WAY AND THE RADIUS ARM RIPPED THROUGH THE RADIUS ARM BRACKET CAUSING THE FRONT TIRE AND ENTIRE WHEEL AND FRONT END SUSPENSION TO TURN SIDE WAYS JAMMING INTO THE REAR OF THE WHEEL WALL. IF THIS HAD GIVEN WAY ON THE THRUWAY AT 65 MPH I WOULD BE DEAD. THIS IS NOTHING NEW TO FORD TRUCKS; FORD HAS KNOWN ABOUT THIS PROBLEM SINCE AS FAR BACK AS 1988 THAT I KNOW OF. THE SAME THING HAPPENED TO MY 1988 FORD BRONCO. FORD SOLD A SPECIAL REPAIR KIT WHEN REPLACING THE RADIUS ARM BRACKET SO THEY HAD TO KNOW THERE WAS A DANGEROUS PROBLEM. THE PROBLEM IS THESE RADIUS ARM BRACKETS WEAKEN AND FORD HAS HAD A PROBLEM WITH THEM RUSTING THROUGH. I WAS AWARE OF THIS AND CHECKED THE RADIUS ARM BRACKETS OFTEN, BUT THIS TIME THERE WAS NO EVIDENCE OF THEM RUSTING THROUGH. THE METAL JUST GAVE WAY. THIS CAUSES THE LOSS OF STEERING AND CAN CAUSE THE VEHICLE TO FLIP OVER AT THRUWAY SPEEDS. THE REST OF THE FRAME IS IN GOOD CONDITION SO THERE HAS TO BE DEFECTS IN THE RADIUS ARMS FORD PUTS ON THERE TRUCKS. I WILL TAKE PICTURES AND SEND THEM TO YOU IF YOU WANT THEM. I DON'T KNOW THE EXTENT OF THE DAMAGE YET, IT JUST HAPPENED. BUT MY ENTIRE FRONT STEERING SUSPENSION IS TWISTED. AAA TOWING TOWED MY TRUCK SO THERE''S PROOF IT HAPPENED. PLEASE REPLY.

WENT TO WORK TRUCK WAS PARKED 1 HOUR FIRE UNDER HOOD PUT OUT FIRE IT BURNED UP WIRING HARNESS,MASTER CYLINDER, POWER BOOSTER. TOOK DAMAGED PARTS OFF. TRUCK HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. OLD PARTS AVAILABLE. *JB
I PARKED MY 1995 FORD F150 PICKUP AND AFTER APPROXIMATELY 30 MINUTES, MY DAUGHTER NOTICED SMOKE COMING FROM UNDER THE HOOD. I OPENED THE HOOD AND DISCOVERED A FIRE CONSUMING AN ELECTRONIC SENSOR MOUNTED TO THE FRONT OF MY MASTER BRAKE CYLINDER. I PUT THE FIRE OUT AND WAS UNABLE TO TAKE THE VEHICLE OUT OF PARK WITHOUT REMOVING THE FUSE WHICH CONTROLLED POWER TO THE ABS SYSTEM. I HAVE LEARNED THIS IS SOMETHING REPORTED ON A NATIONAL NEWS SERVICE AS CAUSING HOUSE FIRES AND OTHER PROBLEMS.
THE LIFT SPRING REAR BRACKET(DRIVER SIDE) COMPLETLY RUSTED AWAY CAUSING THE BED TO COME DOWN AND IT ALSO COMES VERY CLOSE TO PINCHING THE REAR FUEL FILL TUBE(DUAL TANKS). THIS TRUCK ONLY HAS 50,000 MILES ON IT AND HAS BEEN MAINTAINED VERY WELL.I DO VERY LITTLE HAULING OR PULLING WITH THIS TRUCK THAT WOULD HAVE CAUSED THIS PREMATURE MALFUCTION. I CALLED THE FORD DEALER BUT THEY WOULD NOT DO ANYTHING TO HELP ME-SO I TOOK IT TO A LOCAL GARAGE TO REPLACE. THEY SAID THEY REPLACE THESE ALL THE TIME AND THAT THE LOCAL FORD DEALER EVEN KEEPS THE BRACKETS IN STOCK.I HAVE PICTURES AND THE OLD PART.
