THERE ARE 8 POINTS ON THE FRONT END THAT HAVE MOVING PARTS, HOWEVER THERE ARE ONLY 2 GREASE POINTS. CONSUMER FEELS THIS WILL SHORTEN THE LIFE OF THE VEHICLE DUE TO A LACK OF PROPER LUBRICATION.
TRUCK IDLES ROUGH WHEN COMING TO A STOP , BUT NOT ALL THE TIME. TRUCK HAS ALSO STALLED, AT LEAST THREE DIFFERENT TIMES WHEN SLOWING DOWN.
WHEN APPLIED BRAKES LOCK UP IF WET WEATHER. *AK

NO DEPLOYMENT OF AIR BAG DURING A VEHICLE COLLISION .

WHEEL STUDS BROKE OFF CAUSING REAR TIRE TO FALL OFF.
STABILIZER BAR FAILED, CAUSING TRUCK TO COLLAPSE ON FRONT TIRES WITH NO WAY TO STEER.
WHILE DRIVING OVER 70 MPH, VEHICLE WOBBLED AND WHEEL BROKE AWAY FROM VEHICLE. VEHICLE VEERED TO LEFT UNCONTROLLABLE, RAN OFF THE ROAD AND CRASHED INTO A MUDDY DITCH. NO INJURIES.
THE DRIVER'S SEAT WOULD NOT LATCH IN THE UP POSITION. WHEN TAKEN TO DEALER, DEALER CORRECTED THE PROLBEM BY SLAMMING THE SEAT BACK AND FORTH SEVERAL TIMES. *AK
ENGINE CHECK LIGHT IS DEFECTIVE, ALSO AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY UPON IMPACT, EXTENDED STOPPING DISTANCE OCCURRED WHEN BRAKES WERE APPLIED. CONTACTED DEALER APPROX. 7-8 TIMES. PROBLEMS STILL OCCURS. PROVIDE FURTHER INFORMATION. *AK
WHILE DRIVING THE TRUCK THE ABS LIGHTS COMES ON AND STAYS ON. ONCE TRUCK HAS BEEN STARTED, THE LIGHT DOES NOT COME ON, BUT WHEN STARTED DRIVING FOR A WHILE THE LIGHT COMES ON. *AK
WHILE TOWING TRAILER, TRAILER PLUG FELL OUT CAUSING LOSS OF TRAILER LIGHTS AND BRAKES. DESTROYED PLUG AND CABLE. NEW PLUG WILL NOT STAY IN CONNECTOR. HAVE TOWED THIS TRAILER WITH OTHER VEHICLES WITH NO PROBLEM.
THE TORSION BAR BROKE ON TWO OCCASIONS. *YC

TRAVELING 40MPH WHEN REAR WHEEL SEPARATED FROM VEHICLE. TOOK TO DEALER & HAD IT REPAIRED. PROBLEM OF WHEEL OCCURRED BEFORE RECALL (#98V095000). DEALER DIDN'T WANT RESPONSIBILITY & MANUFACTURER. BACKED DEALER. *AK
VEHICLE EXPERIENCED SUDDEN ACCELERATION RESULTING IN A COLLISION.
CONSUMER TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALERSHIP TO REPLACE RIGHT REAR WHEEL/RIGHT HUB CAP/BUMPER AND EXHAUST SYSTEM. ALL PARTS REPLACMENT WAS DUE TO EXHAUST SYSTEM BEING IN THE WAY, WHICH CAUSED CORROSION TO ALL ABOVE PARTS. CONSUMER CONFRONTED THE SERVICEMEN ABOUT CONDITION REOCCURRING. HIS REPLY WAS THAT AFTER THE WARRANTY EXPIRED, IT BECAME CONSUMER'S PROBLEMS. DEALER NOTIFIED *AK
BRAKE ROTORS AND PADS REPLACED SEVERAL TIMES.

CONSUMER EXPERIENCING PROBLEM WITH BRAKES NOT STOPPING VEHICLE PROPERLY. BEEN IN /OUT OF DEALER SHOP, REAR BRAKES WERE ADJUSTED, BUT DID NOT CORRECT THE PROBLEM. *AK
WHILE APPLYING THE BRAKES THE ANTI- LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM LOCKS UP.THE VEHICLE MOVES VERY SLOW AND THERE IS A LOT OF VIBRATION IN VEHICLE. VEHICLE WAS AT THE DEALER THREE TIMES FOR REPAIRS. DEALER CAN'T DETERMINE WHAT IS THE PROBLEM. *AK
POWER REAR VIEW MIRROR FAILED. MJS
RIGHT REAR WHEEL STUD DOES NOT TORQUE PROPERLY CAUSING THE LUG NUT TO STRETCH.
STARTING ON 01-09-98 AND CONTINUING ONLY IN THE WINTER MONTHS, MY VEHICLE HAS FAILED TO START. IN ALL INSTANCES THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN PARKED OVERNIGHT IN AN ENCLOSED GARAGE. IN ALL INCIDENTS THE BATTERY WAS COMPLETELY DRAINED. AFTER THE FIRST INCIDENT, GORDIE BOUCHER INSTALLED A NEW BATTERY. ON 01-14-98 THE VEHICLE AGAIN FAILED TO START AS THE RESULT OF A DEAD BATTERY. ON BOTH OCCASIONS THE BATTERY WAS COMPLETELY DRAINED, TO A POINT WHERE THE POWER DOOR LOCKS WOULD NOT FUNCTION. I HAD NO FURTHER PROBLEMS IN 1998. ON 01-17-99 AND 01-18-99 THE VEHICLE AGAIN HAD A DEAD BATTERY. THE VEHICLE WAS CHECKED AGAIN BY GORDIE BOUCHER HOWEVER THEY WERE UNABLE (AGAIN) TO FIND A PROBLEM. ON 02-16-99 AND 02-21-99 AND 03-25-99 THE VEHICLE AGAIN HAD A DEAD BATTERY. ON ALL THE ABOVE LISTED DATES, ALL POWER POINTS (LIGHTS (INTERIOR/EXTERIOR), RADIO, WIPERS, FANS, ETC WERE TURNED OFF. THERE IS NO OBVIOUS REASON FOR WHY THE BATTERY IS BEING DRAINED, EXCEPT THAT SOMETHING IN THE SYSTEM MUST BE FAILING TO SHUT COMPLETELY OFF. MY WARRANTY ON MY TRUCK IS UP IN 05-99 AND I NEED SOMETHING DONE TO MY TRUCK. I CONTACTED NHTSA 03-03-99 AND FILLED OUT THE QUESTIONAIRE, BUT NEVER RECEIVED A REPLY. PLEASE HELP. *AK
ANTI LOCK BRAKES FAILED.
SPARE TIRE DAMAGED DUE TO DESIGN OF THE MOUNTING SYSTEM WHICH CUT GROOVES INTO THE SIDEWALL.
CONSUMER STATES THE BATTERY DRAINAGE CONTINUES TO OCCUR. BATTERY WAS REPLACED AND INCIDENT HAS OCCURRED APPROXIMATELY FOUR TIMES. DEALER CONTACTED AND CANNOT REMEDY THE PROBLEM. PROBLEM STILL EXIST. PROVIDE FURTHER INFORMATION...
ENGINE FAILED, POSSIBLE RECALL ON COMPONENT THAT LED TO FAILURE. MJS
THE IGNITION KEY CAN BE REMOVED WHEN THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION. WHEN SHUTTING DOWN THE VEHICLE, THE ENGINE STOPS (OF COURSE), HOWEVER SOMETIME YOU CAN RESTART THE VEHICLE WITHOUT THE KEY. IN OTHER WORDS, I CAN NOT BE SURE THAT THE VEHICLE IS SECURE ALL THE TIME, SINCE THERE ARE TIMES WHEN IT WILL START AND RUN WITHOUT THE KEY IN THE INGNITION. *AK
WINDSHIELD WIPERS COME ON UNEXPECTEDLY WHILE SWITCH IS IN OFF POSITION. THIS IS A SAFETY PROBLEM BECAUSE IN THE CASE OF MY FATHER'S RANGER, THE WASHER FLUID WOULD SPRAY UNEXPECTEDLY AS WELL, THEREBY SMEARING THE WINDSHIELD AND CAUSING LOSS OF VISIBILITY. BOTH OUR TRUCKS WERE DIAGNOSED WITH FAULTY MULTIFUNCTION SWITCHES. A RECALL FOR THIS PART SHOULD BE ISSUED AS THERE IS A HIGH NUMBER OF THE SAME COMPLAINTS LISTED ON THIS SITE FOR VARIOUS FORD VEHICLES CONTAINING THE SAME PART. *AK
BOTH DOORS ARE DEVELOPING CRACKS ABOVE DOOR HANDLES AFT OF POWER WINDOW FRAME. FORD WON'T FIX BECAUSE TRUCK IS OFF WARRANTY. *AK
THE REAR LEAF SPRINGS HAVE SEPARATED AND THE CLIPS THAT HOLD THEM TOGETHER ARE COMING OFF AND ARE LOOSE ON THE SPRINGS. *AK
WHILE TIGHTENING THE WHEEL THE WHEEL STUDS BROKE OFF THE FRONT LEFT WHEEL. THE DEALER HAS REPLACED THE WHEEL. *AK
MFR # 97S86 NHTSA RECALL # 97V171000; CONSUMER CONTACTED THE DEALER TO HAVE RECALL WORK CORRECTED. WORK WAS CORRECTED. HOWEVER, THE CONSUMER WAS INVOLVED IN AN HEAD-ON COLLISION TRAVELING 15 MPH DUE TO THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKING UP. CONSUMER ALSO STATED THE DRIVER'S AND PASSENGER'S SIDE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. *AK
VEHICLE IS NOT SHIFTING GEARS PROPERLY, IT IS DIFFICULT TO PUT IN DRIVE OR NEUTRAL. CAUSE UNKNOWN. *AK
NO DEPLOYMENT OF AIR BAG DURING ACCIDENT.
BRAKES FAIL TO STOP PROPERLY, EXTENDED STOPPING DISTANCE.
WHEN PRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL THE PEDAL GETS HARD AND GOES TO THE FLOOR. TOOK TO THE DEALER AND THE LEFT SENSOR ON THE ROTOR WAS BAD. THREE MONTHS LATER, BOTH SENSORS WERE BAD. *AK
WHEN DRIVING AT ABOUT 70-75 MPH, SLIGHTLY TURNING THE WHEEL OWNER HEARD A LOUD NOISE . HE TOOK VEHICLE INTO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE INNER TIE ROD WAS LOOSE. *AK CONSUMER STATES JUST 1000 MILES PRIOR TO THE FAILURE, HE HAD VEHICLE IN THE SHOP FOR THE 60000 MILE CHECK UP. *SLC
MY LEFT REAR TIRE BLEWOUT WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON I10EAST IN LOUISIANA AND THE BEAUMONT FIRESTONE DEALER REFUSED TO REPLACE IT WITHOUT ME PAYING FULL PRICE, 1500 MILES, THE DEALER TOLD ME TO GO TO ANY FIRESTONE DEALER, SINCE MY DEALER IS LOCATED OVER 100 MILES FROM ME, THE ONLY FIRESTONE DEALER TO HELP ME WAS IN PORT ARTHUR AND HE ONLY CHARGED ME A PERCENTAGE FOR TIRE REPLACEMENT AND I PURCHASED AND ROAD HAZARD INSURANCE, BUT LATER DECIDED TO GET RID OF THE TIRES AFTER HEARING OTHERS COMPLAINT.( DOT NUMBER: TIRE SIZE: P23575R16 )
VEHICLE PULLED TO THE SIDE DUE TO THE SHOCK ABSORBER JAMMED UP IN THE COIL SPRING WHEN THE FRONT SHOCK ABSORBER CAME OUT OF THE CONTROL ARM.
SEAT BELT SEPARATED FROM ITS "A" PILLAR ON DRIVER'S CIRCUMFERENCE. NO VISUAL ELEMENT TO EXPLAIN SAID INCIDENT. *AK
CONCERNED ABOUT ME AND OTHERS ITS PRETTY EVIDENT THAT THESE DOORS ARE WEAK STRUCTURLY OR THEY WOULD NOT DO THIS, AND I DONT HAVE THE MONEY TO PAY HAVE FIXED EVEN IF I DID IT WILL HAPPEN AGAIN BECAUSE OF THE STRUCTURE I CA'NT AFORD A NEW DOOR ON FIXED INCOME. COMPLAINT #2 WHEN THE BOLTS ON THE CRANK PULLEY SHEARED OFF LOSS OF CONTROL MAKING IT VERY DIFFCULT TO STEAR ,THANK GOD I WAS'NT ON A SHARP CURVE WHEN THE BOLTS BROKE. CONSUMER HAD TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO DEALER FOR REPAIRS OF THE LUGS: NUTS:BOLTS, BUT DEALER DID NOT HAD THE PARTS TO REPAIR VEHICLE FOR THE FIRST TIME, AND NOW THE VEHICLE HAS THE SAME PROBLEM. DEALER HAS BEEN CONTACTED. *AK CONSUMER HAS BECAME AWARE OF RECALL 98S14, REGARDING THE LUGS/NUTS/BOLTS. STEERING NOT OPERATING PROPERLY, IT LOCKS UP WHEN IT RAINS. TRANSMISSION DOES NOT OPERATE PROPERLY, CONSUMER WAS INFORMED OF RECALL 97S86, HOWEVER DEALER STATED THAT CONSUMER WOULD HAVE TO WORK WITH THEIR SCHEDULE FOR REPAIRS. WINDSHIELD WIPERS START BY THEMSELVES. TURN SIGNALS WORKED TOO FAST, DEALER FOUND A LOOSE WIRE. BRAKES DID NOT WORK EFFICIENTLY, TAKES A LONGER DISTANCE TO STOP. A/C WAS NOT COLD ENOUGH. SERPENTINE BELT WAS REPLACED. DOOR WAS OUT OF ADJUSTMENT, MAKING IT HARD TO OPEN FROM THE INSIDE. *SLC
VEHICLE INVOLVED IN TWO SEPARATE CRASHES, SAME DAY, DUAL AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. TRUCK REARENDED TWO OTHER VEHICLES AT STANDSTILL, BOTH OCCURRENCES; SPEEDS 45 MPH. ALSO, EMERGENCY FUEL CUT-OFF SWITCH DID NOT SHUT OFF. TRUCK AT BODY SHOP. *AK
HAD RECEIVED RECALL NOTICE IN MAIL (#97V171000). CONTACTED DEALERSHIP FOR APPOINTMENT. WAS INFORMED BY THE DEALERSHIP THAT THEY KNEW NOTHING ABOUT THE RECALL & FURTHERMORE DID NOT HAVE THE AVAILABLE PARTS FOR REPAIR. *AK
STEERING IS VERY HARD TO CONTROL WHILE DRIVING. THE VEHICLE WOULD DRIFT WITHOUT WARNING. THE ENGINE NEEDS OIL EVERY MONTH. HAD BEEN TO DEALERSHIP NUMEROUS TIMES TO HAVE PROBLEMS REPAIRED. THEY STILL EXIST. *ML
