#1 0R #2 PISTON ROD KNOCKED A HOLE THROUGH OIL PAN DURING A MAJOR ENGINE FAILURE. THIS SHOULD NOT HAPPEN TO AN ENGINE AT 51000 MILES. I FEEL THIS ENGINE HAD A DEFECT AT MANUFACTURE OR A DESIGN FLAW AS I FIND I AM NOT ALONE IN HAVING THIS ENGINE FAIL.*AK
EXHAUST ON REAR RIM WHICH HAS CAUSED THE RIM TO START PITTING AND MAY CAUSE FAILURE. *AK
WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE BEGAN TO VIBRATE, CONSUMER GOT OUT OF THE VEHICLE BUT COULD NOT SEE ANYTHING, CONSUMER THEN PROCEEDED TO DRIVE ABOUT 5MPH WHEN THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO VIBRATE AGAIN, PLUS THERE WAS A SQUEAKING NOISE, VEHICLE WAS TAKEN INTO A MECHANIC, AND CONSUMER WAS INFORMED THAT THE TIE ROD END ON THE DRIVERS SIDE HAD FALLEN OUT OF POSITION.*JB

WHENEVER VEHICLE HAS BEEN STARTED IT WOULD IT SMOKE BADLY. AFTER DRIVING FOR AWHILE, BLUE SMOKE DISAPPEARED. TAKEN TO MECHANIC., AND SMELLED BURNING OIL. CHECKED UNDER HOOD, AND FOUND HEAD GASKETS HAD BLOWN, CAUSING DAMAGE TO MOTOR. MOTOR HAD TO BE REPLACED.*AK *JB

DRIVER AND PASSENGER DOOR SKINS ARE CRACKED AT LOWER CORNER OF WINDOWS (STRESS CRACKS - POOR STAMPING) DEALER EST. REPAIR TO COST ME $790.00 COST NOT COVERED BY FORD DUE TO MILEAGE . *AK

THE BACK WINDOW LEAKS AND BOTH DOORS HAVE A CRACK RIGHT ON THE DOORS ON THE CORNER OF THE WINDOWS. I TALKED TO SOMEONE ELSE AND THEY HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THE LEAK AND THE CRACKED PAINT. CAN YOU PLEASE LOOK INTO THIS FOR ME. THANK YOU!
WHILE DRIVING FRONT FRAME AXLE CRACKED. AXLE HAD BEEN REPLACED TWICE. HAD CONTACTED DEALERSHIP. *AK

WHILE TRAVELING HEARD A KNOCKING NOISE COMING FROM ENGINE. VEHICLE WAS SERVICED, AND TECHNICIAN STATED THAT ENGINE HEAD GASKET NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER INFORMATION. *AK

I HAVE REPLACED THE SPEED SENSOR ON THE DRIVER SIDE. I NOW HAVE A LEAK FROM THE ABS UNIT WHERE THE LINES LEAVE GOING TO THE BRAKES. I AM TRYING TO FIND OUT IF THERE HAVE BEEN ANY OTHER REPORTED PROBLEMS WITH OTHER 1997 F150 TRUCKS.*AK
DRIVER SIDE AND PASSENGER SIDE DOOR PANEL IS CRACKING. MANUFACTURER AND DEALER IS AWARE OF DOOR FRACTURE; HOWEVER, STRUCTURE OF DOOR FOR A 1997 IS NO LONGER BEING MADE.*AK
DOORS DEVELOPE A CRACK NEAR THE WINDOW, ON CORNER WHERE DOOR HANDLE IS. I HAD REPAIR MADE AT THE DEALER, WHICH WERE EXPERIMENTAL ACCORDING TO THE BODY SHOP MANAGER. DRIVER DOOR RE-CRACKED AFTER THE REPAIR, MONTHS AFTER THE REPAIR. AGAIN A WELDING REPAIR WAS MADE. NOW THE PASSANGER DOOR HAS STARTED CRACKING AGAIN. I FEEL THE WELDING FIX IS NOT THE ANSWER, AND THE MANUFACTURER NEEDS TO REPLACE THE DOOR SKINS WITH A NEWLY DESIGNED PART.*AK
REAR WINDOW LEAKS. RIGHT HAND SIDE OF REAR WINDOW WAS LEAKING. TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALER, AND DEALER INDICATED TO REPAIR VEHICLE, HAD TO REPLACE THE THE WHOLE WINDOW.*AK
FORD HAS REDESINED THE OUTER DOOR SHELL BECAUSE THEY ARE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM IT SEEMS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM SO I THINK THAT FORD SHOULD RECALL THE OUTER DOOR SCHELLS ON THE 1997 F-150. *AK
WHILE WASHING THE VEHICLE SHE SAW A DARK SPOT SHE THOUGHT IT WAS DIRT. THERE ARE CRACKS IN THE METAL OF THE VEHICLE. THE CRACKS ARE GOING TOWARD THE WINDOW AND DOOR. NLM
THE SPEEDOMETER ON THE VEHICLE IS NOT CALIBRATED CORRECTLY AND AS A RESULT IT HAS A 7 TO 8 MPH SPEED ERROR AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS, THE CONSUMER BELIEVES THIS IS A WIDESPREAD PROBLEM WITH FORD VEHICLES. *JG *NLM
CONSUMER STATES THAT EVERY FEW DAYS THE BRAKES WILL FAIL, WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL IS DEPRESSED, THE PEDAL STOPS MIDWAY AND CAN ONLY BE DEPRESSED FURTHER BY APPLYING EXTREME PRESSURE, THEREFORE CAUSING NO BRAKING ACTION, CONSUMER FEELS THE PROBLEM IS WITH THE ABS. *SLC

WHILE DRIVING AND WITHOUT WARNING SPARK PLUGS BURNED OUT, AND VEHICLE BECAME INOPERABLE. DEALER HAS BEEN NOTIFIED, AND HAS SERVICED VEHICLE FOR SAME PROBLEM TWICE. BUT HAD NO SOLUTION FOR PROBLEM. *AK
CONSUMER NOTICED DEEP CRACKS AROUND THE OUTER EDGES OF THE TIRES, CONSUMER TOOK THE TIRES TO A FIRESTONE STORE AND AFTER AN INSPECTION, WAS INFORMED THAT THE TREAD WAS BEGINNING TO SEPARATE, THESE TIRES WERE A PART OF RECALL 01T016 THAT THE CONSUMER NEVER RECEIVED, HOWEVER THE FIRESTONE STORE STATED THAT SINCE THE RECALL WAS OVER WITH, THERE WAS NOTHING THAT COULD BE DONE FOR THE CONSUMER, FIRESTONE WILDERNESS AT TIRES, NO FURTHER SPECIFIC TIRE INFORMATION GIVEN. *SLC
I HAVE NOTICED THAT I HAVE DEVOLPED CRACKS ON MY DRIVERS SIDE DOOR AND PASSENGER DOOR. IM CURIOUS TO KNOW WHY SOME SORT OF ACTION HAS NOT BEEN TAKEN BY FORD MOTOR COMPANY. I HAVE READ ON CERTAIN FORD WEBSITES THAT AS MUCH AS 65% OF F150 PICKUP TRUCKS HAVE THIS PROBLEM. IM WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHAT WOULD HAVE TO BE DONE IN ORDER TO SOLVE THIS PROBLEM.*AK
WHEN BRAKES ARE APPLIED IN CERTAIN CONDITIONS OTHER THAN WET, THE ABS SENSOR'S INPROPERLY ENGAGE SENDING THE BRAKES INTO A FRENZY. WHEN THIS HAPPENS ALL BRAKING ABILITY IS LOSSED UNLESS YOU SMASH DOWN ON THE PEDAL. THIS HAS HAPPEND TO ME ON DRY LAND GOING OVER A MAN HOLE COVER ON THE HIGHWAY. I HAD TO STOP SHORT BUT COULDN'T. I DIDN'T HIT ANYONE, BUT IT IS SOMETHING FORD HAS NOT WANTED TO ADDRESS. I KNOW PROBABLY HUNDREDS MORE WHO HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM ON THIS TRUCK. THIS IS A MAJOR MECHANICAL/ELECTRICAL PROBLEM THAT SHOULD BE ADDRESS BY FORD IMMEDIATLY. FIRST IT WAS THE TIRES GOING ON THE EXPLORERES, DON'T LET IT BE THE BRAKES FAILING ON SOME FAMILIES TRUCK CAUSING SERIOUS INJURIES OR POSSIBLY DEATH!*AK

CONSUMER STATED THAT VEHICLE HAD BRAKE PROBLEMS AND THE BRAKES WERE REPAIRED, BUT THE VEHICLE WAS STILL UNSAFE TO DRIVE. CONSUMER IS REQUESTING A REFUND FOR THE COST OF BRAKE REPAIR. *YH *SCC

UPON STARTING VEHICLE THERE IS A CONSTANT BANGING NOISE. TOOK TO DEALER AND DEALER STATES VEHICLE SPUN A ROD, AND CAUSE COOLANT TO GET IN OIL AND ENGINE. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY FURTHER INFORMATION. TS
THE SPARE TIRE THAT IS MOUNTED ON VEHICLE IS RUBBING AGAINST THE FRAME OR BODY OF VEHICLE, CAUSING THE TIRE TO BE WORN IN 8 DIFFERENT PLACES. CONSUMER NOTICED THIS WHILE CHANGING A FLAT, THE RUBBER TREAD HAD WORN DOWN TO THE PLASTIC. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY FURTHER INFORMATION. *TS

THE HEAD GASKET ON MY "97" FORD F150 FAILED WHILE MY WIFE WAS DRIVING FILLING #4 CYLINDER WITH COOLANT AND BENDING A ROD. NO WARNING, NO OVERHEATING, WATER IN THE OIL, ETC. ONLY A FLICKERING CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. MY MECHANIC SAYS IT WAS SIMPLY A FACTORY DEFECTIVE GASKET AND SHOULD NOT HAVE BLOWN CONSIDERING MILEAGE AND UP KEEP AND MAINTENANCE DONE TO THIS VEHICLE.
