AFTER 10 HOURS OF SUMMER DRIVING ON A FLAT SECTION OF I-10 NEAR SEGUIN, TX, THE TREAD SEPARATED COMPLETELY WITHOUR WARNING. I EXPECT TO MAKE THE SAME TRIP TOMORROW, 8/9/2000. VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN FRONT OF GARAGE IN FIRST GEAR WITH EMERGENCY BRAKE NOT ON. VEHICLE WAS FOUND IN THE GARAGE STILL IN GEAR. CONTACTED MANUFACTURER.*AK
STARTER SHORTED OUT, CAUSING VEHICLE INTO GARAGE. THE KEY WAS NOT IN IGNITION. DAMAGES WERE MADE TO VEHICLE. SAFETY DEFECT ALLOWED VEHICLE TO MOVE W/O THE KEY IN THE IGNITION.*AK
THE LEFT FRONT TIRE TREAD COMPLETELY CAME OFF OF TIRE. TRUCK WAS TOWED AND NEW TIRE INSTALLED. APPROX. 50 MILES DOWN THE ROAD THE R FRONT TIRE TREAD CAME OFF. REQUIRING TOWING OF TRUCK AGAIN AND COMPLETE SET OF TIRES BEING BOUGHT AND PLACED ON TRUCK. BODY AND ENGINE DAMAGE OCCURED WITH BOTH ACCIDENTS.( DOT NUMBER: W208 TIRE SIZE: P235/70K16 )
I HAVE NOTICED A SMALL CRACK FORMING IN THE METAL ON THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR. IF YOUR FACING THE DOOR FORM THE OUTSIDE, THE CRACK IS LOCATED BY THE LOWER RIGHT HAND CORNER OF THE WINDOW. AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH I HAVE FOUND THAT THIS IS A PROBLEM IN MANY NEWER MODEL FORD TRUCKS. *AK

CONSUMER WAS TRAVELING ABOUT 65 MPH ON THE HIGHWAY AND ANOTHER VEHICLE VEERED INTO CONSUMER'S VEHICLE, PUSHING IT INTO THE SHOULDER. VEHICLE HIT A GUARDRAIL, AND THE AIRBAGS DIDN'T GO OFF. *AK
DRIVER'S SIDE WINDOW, AS CONSUMER IS FACING DOOR, THERE IS A CRACK IN DOOR. TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALER, AND THEY SAID IT WAS A CRACKED WELD. *AK THERE WAS CRACKING ON DOOR AND ROOF SEAMS BUT NECESSAY REPAIR WAS DONE ON WARRANTY. *YH
I TOOK THE TRUCK IN AND THE SERVICE CONSULTANT SAID THAT THE BRAKES WERE WORKING NORMALLY EVENTHOUGH THE REAR ONES DID LOCK UP AT 20 M.P.H. OR SLOWER WHEN LEAVING THE PARKING LOT OF THEIR LOT. *AK
WHILE DRIVING, I WOULD COME UP TO A STOP SIGN OR LIGHT AND APPLY THE BRAKES AND THE LEFT REAR BRAKE WOULD LOCK UP. I TOOK IT IN AND THEY LOOKED AT THE BRAKES AND SAID THEY WERE OK. I WENT TO LEAVE AND IT DID IT AGAIN. I WENT BACK IN AND TOLD THEM THAT THEY WERE STILL DOING IT AND THEY SAID THAT IT WAS NORMAL FOR THE ABS TO DO THAT. I WENT BACK THE NEXT DAY AND THEY ADJUSTED THE BRAKES AND NOW THEY DO WHAT THEY ARE SUPPOSE TO DO. IT COULD BE POSSIBLE THAT ONE OF THE SELF ADJUSTERS MIGHT NOT BE WORKING. *AK
HAD TO REPLACE TRANNSMISSION AT 60,000 MILES. *AK
AT 15,000 MILES ALL THE TIRES ARE WORN DOWN PAST 2/32TH". WARRANTY STATES THAT THERE WARRANTIED TO 6 YEARS, 60,000 BEFORE THE TREAD WOULD WEAR DOWN THAT BAD. IVE BEEN TO NUMEROUS FORD AND FIRESTONE DEALERS BUT NONE WOULD HONOR THE WARRANTY. IVE ALSO LOCATED CRACKS IN THE TREADS. I STILL HAVE ALL 4 TIRES IN MY POSSESSION SINCE IVE REPLACED THE ORIGINALS. AT 15,000 MILES THE VEHICLE WAS ONLY 1 YEAR AND 9 MONTHS OLD. FORD AND FIRESTONE ADMITTED THAT THERE "MIGHT" BE A PROBLEM BUT PAWNED IT OFF ON EACH OTHER. (DOT NUMBER: VN08 TIRESIZE: P235/70R16)

CRACKS HAVE DEVELOPED IN BOTH THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER DOORS, APPROXIMATELY HALF WAY UP AND BEHIND THE WINDOWS. EACH CRACK IS APPROXIMATELY 1/2 INCH LONG.*AK
TORSION BAR SNAPPED WHILE MERGING ONTO INTERSTATE, DROPPING THE FRONT END. *AK
PE00020; TIRE TREAD SEPARATION: WHILE DRIVING ABOUT 70 MPH, TREAD ON THE REAR DRIVER'S SIDE TIRE CAME OFF. DRIVER WAS ABLE TO KEPT CONTROL OF A 1998, FORD, F150. THREE OTHER PASSENGER'S WERE IN THE VEHICLE. NO ONE WAS INJURED. TIRE WAS A WILDERNESS HT, P23570R16, ORIGINAL TIRE EQUIPMENT. TIRE MILEAGE WAS 22,000. THE TIRE WAS SHIPPED TO FIRESTONE. PLEASE PROVIDE DOT # IF POSSIBLE.*AK
SPARE TIRE CABLE BROKE WHILE DRIVEING CAUSING A SPARE TIRE TO FALL OFF. *YH
TREAD SEPARATION WAS DISCOVERED UPON INSPECTION FOR A ODD FEELING WITH THE TIRES ON MY PICK UP IN APRIL OF 2000. THEY WERE REPLACED AT THAT TIME AND I WAS IN CONTRACT WITH FIRSTONE THE NEXT DAY IN REGARDS TO THIS. FINAL OUTCOME WAS NOTHING BY FIRESTONE,I HAVE BEEN IN COMMECTION WITH FIRESTONE,SINCE IT WAS IN THE NEWS AND BECAME PUBLIC INFO. THAT THEY WERE HAVING A PROBLEM,I DO HAVE COPIES OF ALL DOCUMENTATIONS I HAD WITH FIRESTONE IN REGARDS TO THIS.MY TIRE SIZE WAS NOT ONE THAT WAS LISTED. ALL FOUR OF MY TIRES SHOWED TREAD SEPARATION,ALL SAME MILAGE,ALL HAD APROX. 5/32,AND 6/32 OF TREAD LEFT ON TIRES.NO DAMAGE TO TRUCK,WERE REPLACED BEFORE THAT COULD HAPPEN. THIS DEALERSHIP DOES BUSINESS IN AN UNSAFE, FRAUDLENT, MANNER. I HAVE DOCUMENTATION PROVING THIS CLAIM .NO SAFETY DEFECT LISTED. *AK
FRONT TORSION BAR BROKE WHILE VEHICLE WAS SITTING IN GARAGE OVERNIGHT. DEALER NOTIFIED. *AK
WHILE DRIVING IN TOWN AND APPROACHING A STOP SIGN OR LIGHT, APPLIED BRAKES, LEFT REAR WHEELS LOCKED UP AND VEHICLE SLID. CONTACTED DEALER, THEY CLEANED THE BRAKES, AND COULDN'T FIND ANY PROBLEM. WHILE LEAVING THE LOT, VEHICLE STARTED TO DO THE SAME THING. SERVICE CONSULTANT SAID THAT WHEELS WERE SUPPOSED TO LOCK UP WHEN WET. FOR NOW PROBLEM HAS BEEN SOLVED BY MAKING ADJUSTMENTS TO THE REAR BRAKES. *AK *ML
DEFECTIVE TORSION BAR BROKE IN PARKING LOT. IF VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN IT COULD HAVE CAUSED A CRASH. *AK *ML
TIRES VIBRATE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS AFTER A 25 MILE TRIP OR MORE . I HAD THE TRUCK TO THE DEALER AND THEY FOUND NO TROUBLE WITH THE TRUCK . THEY SAID IT WAS THE TIRES I HAD THE TRUCK AT A FIRESTONE STORE AND ALL I GOT WAS A RUN AROUND.( DOT NUMBER: TIRE SIZE: P2357016 )
COMPLETE FAILURE OF THE TORSION BAR ON THE FRONT LEFT OF VEHICLE. BREAK IS ABOUT SIX INCHES FROM THE FRONT OF THE BAR. VEHICLE HAD BEEN PARKED FOR IN EXCESS OF THREE HOURS ON LEVEL GROUND WHEN FAILURE OCCURRED. HAVE OVER 30 WITNESSES THAT CAN ATTEST TO WHEN FAILURE OCCURRED. *AK
DOOR SKIN IS CRACKED AT BELTLINE ON PASSENGER DOOR. DEALER RESPONSE: "WE'LL LOOK INTO IT" THIS SEEMS TO BE A FAIRLY COMMON PROBLEM WIRH THE 97 AND UP F150S.*AK
BELT & TENSIONER HAS FAILED TWICE IN 5000 MILES/SQEALS LOUDLY UNDER EVEN LIGHT LOADS.I HAVE HAD IT REPLACED TWICE/COVERED UNDER FACTORY WARRANTY AND PARTS WARRANTY THE SECOND TIME//TRUCK HAS CRACKS FORMING ALONG BELTLINE ON THE REAR CORNER OF WINDOWS. *AK
THE DOOR AJAR SWITCH DOES NOT FUNCTION PROPERLY. THE DOOR AJAR DASH LIGHT & INTERIOR LIGHTS REMAIN ON EVEN WHEN THE DOOR IS FULLY CLOSED. THIS CAUSES A VERY DANGERIOUS SITUATION, ESPECIALY AT NIGHT WHEN THE INTERIOR LIGHTS ARE ON AND WON'T GO OFF. I KNOW THAT THIS IS A WIDE SPRED PROBLEM AND I HAVE BEEN ADVICED THAT FORD HAS A TSB ON IT. EVERYONE THAT I HAVE TALKED TO WITH A 97', 98', OR 99' F-150 EXTENDED CAB HAS HAD PROBLEMS WITH THIS.*AK
WHEN CAR WAS SHIFTING IT BANGED DOWN TO A LOWER GEAR, LIKE IT WAS DOWN SHIFFTING WHEN ACCELERATING. TOOK TO DEALER 3 TIMES, AND THEY COULDN'T DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM.*AK WHEN VEHICLE DOWN SHIFTS FROM HIGH GEAR TO LOWER GEAR TRANSMISSION SUPS AND BANGS. *YH
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 1998 FORD F150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS, DOOR LOCKS, AND THE DOOR CHIMES FAILED TO OPERATE WHICH IS RELATED TO THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. THE VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL ALSO NO LONGER FUNCTIONS. THE FRONT WINDSHIELD IS NOT SEALED AND WHENEVER IT RAINS WATER SEEPED INTO THE DASHBOARD. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO STATED THAT HIS VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THERE WAS NO RELATED WARRANTY. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000.

FRONT LEFT TORSION BAR SNAPPED IN TWO, WITHOUT WARNING, WHILE DRIVING ON A SMOOTH ROAD. THE TRUCK PULLED HARD TO THE RIGHT, AS THE SUSPENSION COLLAPSED. FORD REPLACED ONLY ONE TORSION BAR: I AM AFRAID THE OTHER TORSION BAR WILL ALSO BREAK. *AK
TORSION BAR BROKE IN HALF CAUSING TEMPORARY LOSS OF CONTROL WHEN VEHICLE COLLAPSED ONTO THE FRONT SUSPENSION. *MJS
THE TORSION BAR SNAPPED CAUSING THE FRONT END TO FALL. ON THE DRIVE TO THE DEALERSHIP COULD NOT EXCEED 30 MPH BECAUSE TRUCK WOULD BEGIN TO BOUNCE AND CAUSE STEERING DIFFICULTY. I AM EMPLOYED WITH AN AUTOMOTIVE SUPPLIER AND THE ENGINEERS AT WORK TELL ME THAT HAD I BEEN DRIVING WHEN THIS HAPPENED, I WOULD HAVE MORE THAN LIKELY ROLLED THE TRUCK. I DRIVE A SIGNIFICANT DISTANCE TO AND FROM WORK AND MOST OF THIS MILEAGE IS VIA THE FREEWAYS. I HAVE DONE SOME RESSEARCH AND FIND THAT MANY FORD 1998 4X4 F150'S HAVE EXPERIENCED THIS PROBLEM. THE MECHANIC AT THE DEALERSHIP HAS ASSURED ME THAT THIS SHOULD NOT HAPPEN AGAIN. SOUNDS LIKE A FAULTY PART AND YET NO RECALL FROM FORD. THE SECOND ITEM IS A CRACK IN THE SHEET METAL OF THE DOOR. I DISCOVERED THIS LAST NIGHT AFTER READING ABOUT THE PROBLEM FROM MANY F150 OWNERS ON THE INTERNET. ALTHOUGH I PICKED UP MY VEHICLE FROM THE DEALERSHIP ONLY LAST NIGHT I WILL BE RETURNING ONCE AGAIN TODAY. THIS ALSO SEEMS TO BE A DESIGN FLAW THAT IS BEING IGNORED BY FORD. *AK
THE TREAD AREA OF THE TIRE WAS LIKE FOAMRUBBER.I TOLD THE MANAGER AT THE FIRESTONE STORE THE TIRE WAS DEFECTIVE AND HE LAUGHED AND SAID I DID SOMETHING WRONG ,AND THEY WEREN,T HAVING ANY PROBLEMS. I ASKED FOR A DISCOUNT HE SAID NO WAY. LIKE A FOOL I ENNT AND BOUGHT 2 MORE OF THE SAME TIRE. I E MAILED FIRESTONE AND TOLD THEM I THOUGHT THEY HAD DEFECTIVE TIRES , THEY TOLD ME TO GO TO A FIRESTONE STORE , AND TALK TO A MANAGER. WHENEVER APPLYING BRAKES INTERMITTENTLY IT CAUSED VEHICLE TO SURGE FORWARD. PEDAL WOULD GET HARD, AND VEHICLE WOULD CONTINUE ON BEFORE STOPPING. VEHICLE HAS BEEN IN/OUT OF DEALER SHOP ON SIX OCCASIONS, DEALER INFORMED CONSUMER THAT NOTHING COULD BE FOUND. FEEL FREE TO PROVIDE FURTHER DETAILS.*AK

RE: WINDSHIELD WIPER. F150 WAS TAKEN IN FOR SERVICE FOR FAULTY WIPERS ON JUN 8,01. THE PROBLEM TURNED OUT TO BE A COMPUTER PART CALLED A GEM OR ASSEMBLY MODULE. FORD HAS HAD THE VEHICLE FOR MORE THAN ONE MONTH. I AM TOLD THAT THE PART IS SIMPLY UNAVAILABLE. I WONDERED IF THE PART HAS GONE BAD SO OFTEN THAT THE PART IS IN HIGH DEMAND. THIS AFFAIR IS OPEN ENDED, AS THE AVIS DEALERSHIP IN SOUTHFIELD, MI (2483557500DENNIS) CAN NOT EVEN SAY FROM WHERE THE PART MAY BE SHIPPED. THERE SEEMS TO BE NO SOURCE FOR THE PART. THEY DON'T KNOW WHEN IT MIGHT ARRIVE. NO PART, NO REPAIR. WHEN ASKED IF I COULD PICK UP THE TRUCK TO DRIVE IT IN THE MEANTIME, I WAS TOLD IT IS "UNDRIVABLE." IS THERE GOING TO BE A RECALL ON THIS PART? PART #F75Z14B205LA. RE: DOOR CRACK. BOTH DOORS HAVE A 1/4" CRACK NEAR THE BACK EDGE OF THE WINDOW. TRUCK IS OUT OF WARRANTY. RE: LEAKING REAR WINDOW. IT WAS REPAIRED BY DEALERSHIP WHILE TRUCK WAS UNDER WARRANTY. *AK
