ON JULY 28TH AROUND 3:00 AM THERE WAS A STORM EARLIER IN THE NIGHT AND A TREE TOP FELL INTO THE ROAD AND I WENTTO APPLY THE BRAKES THEY LOCKED UP CAUSING ME TO FISH TAIL AND LOSE CONTROL SPINNING AROUND TWICE MAKING ME STRIKE A TREE AND SPIN BACK AROUND AND NOSE DIVE DOWN AND EMBANKMENT AND LAND ON ALL FOUR WHEELS MESSED UP THE FRONT BUMPER LEFT FENDER LEFT DOOR CRACKED WINDSHIELD AND COMPLETELY WIPED OUT THE BED. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 1999 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT FUEL FUMES EMITTED INTO THE VEHICLE AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE TOLL BOOTH ATTENDANT INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT FLAMES WERE COMING FROM UNDER THE FRONT DRIVERS SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT EXITED THE VEHICLE AND IMMEDIATELY AFTER FLAMES ENGULFED THE DRIVERS SIDE BURNING THE INTERIOR. THE POLICE REPORT WAS FILED AND NO INJURIES WERE REPORTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THERE WAS NO DIAGNOSTIC TEST COMPLETED ON THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 200,000.
WHILE INSPECTING MY VEHICLE FOR FUEL STRAP RECALL 11S21, IT WAS NOTED THAT THE FRAME OF MY F150 WAS RUSTED THROUGH AT THE LOCATION WHERE THE NEW STRAP WOULD BE INSTALLED. MY FORD DEALER TOLD ME THAT THEY COULD NOT REPLACE THE RECALLED STRAP UNTIL THE FRAME WAS REPAIRED (AT MY EXPENSE). FORD DOES NOT REPAIR THE FRAME UNDER THE RECALL, ONLY REPLACES THE STRAP. I FEEL THAT FORD SHOULD DO THE FRAME REPAIR AS PART OF THE RECALL, AS THE STRAP WAS LESS RUSTY THAN THE FRAME. THE STRAPS, IN MY OPINION, WERE OF SIMILAR QUALITY AS THE FRAME, ONLY THINNER METAL. MY TRUCK HAS BEEN VERY WELL MAINTAINED, BUT THE UNDERCARRIAGE HAS BEEN RUSTING EXCESSIVELY SINCE NEW. I OWN MUCH OLDER FORD VEHICLES WITH NO SUCH ISSUE; MY OPINION IS THAT FORD SOURCED POOR QUALITY MATERIALS WHEN BUILDING THESE MODEL YEAR TRUCKS. I ALSO HAVE RUST HOLES IN THE TRANSMISSION DIPSTICK TUBE AND EXHAUST MANIFOLDS. NO REASON FOR THIS EXCESSIVE CORROSION, SINCE I HAVE BEEN DILIGENT ABOUT MAINTAINING THIS TRUCK. MY 1982 FORD VAN HAS NO SUCH ISSUES, AND IT HAS NOT BEEN CARED FOR AS WELL AS THIS TRUCK. THANKS FOR YOUR HELP.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 1999 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH HE HEARD A POPPING SOUND IN THE ENGINE, FOLLOWED BY LOUD, REPETITIVE CLICKING OR POPPING SOUNDS. THE CONTACT PULLED OVER TO EXAMINE THE FAILURE AND THE NUMBER 4 CYLINDER HAD FRACTURED, THE SPARK PLUG ALSO BLEW OUT OF ITS PROPER POSITION. THE CONTACT TOOK HIS VEHICLE TO THE CLOSEST INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. BY THE TIME THE CONTACT REACHED THE MECHANIC THE VEHICLE WAS OVERWHELMED WITH A STRONG PERSISTENT ODOR OF USED GASOLINE. THE MECHANIC STATED THE NUMBER 4 CYLINDER SPARK PLUG DID BLOW OUT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER AND DEALER HAVE NOT BEEN ALERTED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 190,000.
CABLE THAT HOLDS SPARE TIRE UP UNDER THE TRUCK BED RUSTED AT THE BRACKET AND SPARE TIRE FELL OUT FROM UNDER THE TRUCK, IT WAS A GOOD THING THAT TRUCK WAS NOT GOING ANY FASTER AS THE SPARE COULD HAVE BOUNCED ON THE ROAD AND CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. *TR
RECEIVED THE RECALL NOTICE FOR FUEL TANK STRAP REPLACEMENT. TOOK TRUCK TO FORD DEALER IN AUBURN MA. DEALER WOULD NOT WORK ON TRUCK DO TO RUSTED FUEL TANK, INSISTED I NEEDED A NEW TANK PRIOR TO FIXING. I TOOK MY TRUCK TO A FORD DEALER IN AYER MA., SAME RESULTS. A BRAND NEW TANK HAS BEEN INSTALLED, MADE AN APPOINTMENT AT MY LOCAL FORD DEALER IN AUBURN, MA. DEALER REFUSE TO INSTALL STRAPS, COMPLAIN ABOUT CONNECTION AREAS WHICH I'M NOT FAMILIAR WITH. I MENTION TO DEALER THAT MY NEW TANK IS NOT SECURE AND THIS IS A HAZARD TO MYSELF AND THE PUBLIC. MY TRUCK IS PRIMARILY USED IN WINTER DRIVING AND LOCAL RUNS FOR HOUSE CHORES. MY TRUCK IS BEING USED ON A LIMITED BASES NOW, WINTER IS APPROACHING AND WOULD LIKE TO HAVE THIS PROBLEM RESOLVED, PLEASE HELP. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 1999 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING DOWNHILL AT APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH, THERE WAS A SUDDEN LOSS OF CONTROL DUE TO ICY ROAD CONDITIONS. THE VEHICLE THEN CRASHED INTO A UTILITY POLE. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY WITH THE SIGNIFICANT IMPACT. THERE WAS NO PERSONAL INJURY. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED OF THE INCIDENT. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED AND TOWED TO A SALVAGE FACILITY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 173,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
PULLED UP TO STOP LIGHT TO MAKE A LEFT TURN-SAT AT LIGHT 2 MINUTES-PUT FOOT ON GAS PEDAL TO TURN AND THE ENGINE DIED TRIED TO RESTART- WOULD NOT START-THEFT LIGHT WAS FLASHING FAST-WAS PUSHED OUT OF INTERSECTION-WENT TO CALL TOW TRUCK- CAME BACK -TRIED TO START AND IT STARTED-WAS ABLE TO DRIVE HOME A SHORT DISTANCE-PARKED FOR TOW TRUCK TO PICK UP.-STARTED 3 TIMES AT MY HOUSE BUT DIE IF TURNED ON AND OFF ABOUT 10 TIMES. *TR
INTERIOR LIGHTS AND BED LIGHT WILL NOT SHUT OFF. *TR
I TOOK MY F-150 IN FOR A RECALL ON THE FUEL TANK STRAPS RUSTING, THE DEALERSHIP WAS NICK NICHOLAS FORD IN INVERNESS, FLORIDA. THEY TOLD ME MY FUEL TANK WAS LEAKING FROM RUST. I AM IN THE PROCESS OF FIXING IT. MY COMPLAINT IS IF THE STRAPS RUSTED AND CAUSED THE TANK TO RUST AND LEAK AT THE AREA WHERE THE STRAPS TOUCH THE TANK. WHY ISN'T THE TANK INCLUDED IN THE RECALL? THE RUSTED TANK LEAKING IS A CLEAR DANGER TO ME, THE ENVIRONMENT, AND OTHER DRIVERS. THE GAS NEVER DRIPPED ON THE GROUND SO I NEVER KNEW IT WAS LEAKING UNTIL I TOOK IT IN. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 180,000.

TRUCK WAS PARKED AND PULLED OUT OF PARKING SPOT WHEN THE BOTH FUEL TANKS STRAPS FAILED AND THE THE TANK DROPPED TO THE GROUND. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 1999 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 75 MPH, THE VEHICLE EXHIBITED AN ABNORMAL NOISE. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO MOVE OFF THE ROADWAY TO INSPECT THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT SON DISCOVERED THAT THE FUEL TANK WAS DRAGGING AND SPILLED GASOLINE ON THE ROADWAY. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHERE THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED THAT THE FUEL STRAP WAS CORRODED AND HAD BECOME SEPARATED FROM THE FUEL TANK. THE MANUFACTURER DENIED ASSISTANCE WITH THE FUEL TANK REPLACEMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 254,000.
SPARE TIRE FELL OUT FROM UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE WILL DRIVING. *TR
CAR HAD BEEN PARKED SINCE 6:00 PM THURSDAY EVENING. DISCOVERED SMOKING AT 6:45 AM FRIDAY MORNING. FIRE STARTED IN ENGINE DRIVER'S SIDE. CAR WAS TOTAL LOSS. FORTUNATELY A NEIGHBOR MOVED THE CAR AWAY FROM THE HOUSE BEFORE IT ERUPTED IN FLAMES. RESEARCH ON LINE INDICATES THAT THERE ARE NUMEROUS FIRE INCIDENTS BECAUSE OF FAULTY SCD (CRUISE CONTROL) SWITCH. CAR BEING DRIVEN BY SON OF ORIGINAL OWNER. NO AWARENESS OF RECALL. *TR
BRAKES BECAME MUSH, THEN LINES BURST IN BACK OVER TANK. MASTER CYLINDER WAS BONE DRY. *TR
WHILE DRIVING AT 70 MPH THE VEHICLE STARTED TO LIGHTLY TICK THEN I PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND THE MOTOR BEGAN TO LOUDLY KNOCK I TOOK IT TO MY MECHANIC AND HE TOLD ME THIS WAS A COMMON PROBLEM THAT FORD HAS HAD WITH THESE MOTORS WITH THOUSAND ACCOUNTS WERE THIS HAS HAPPENED AND FORD HAS NEGLECTED TO TAKE CARE OF THERE LOYAL CUSTOMERS I AM A 20 YR OLD COLLEGE STUDENT AND I CAN BARELY AFFORD THE HOME I LIVE IN RIGHT NOW I BOUGHT THIS TRUCK IN THE GOOD FAITH THAT FORD HAD HONORED THE PICTURE THEY HAD SET FOR THIS TRUCK THAT IT WAS A RELIABLE RUNNING VEHICLE BUT AS I HAVE FOUND OUT UNFORTUNATELY LIKE MANY OTHERS HAVE ALSO IT ISN'T THIS IS CAUSED BY EITHER A TIMING BELT GASKET FAILING OR MULTIPLE SPOTS IN THE INTAKE MANIFOLD FAILING CAUSING THE MOTOR TO HAVE COOLANT LEAKED INTO THE CYLINDERS AND CAUSING THE MOTOR FROM A ROD KNOCK TO THE MOTOR BECOMING COMPLETELY HYDRO LOCKED I AM 150 MILES FROM MY SCHOOL ON CHRISTMAS BREAK STUCK HERE BECAUSE MY TRUCK WAS NOT WHAT IT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE THANK YOU AND I HOPE THAT SOMETHING CAN BE DONE ABOUT THIS BECAUSE AFTER READING PAGE AFTER PAGE AND WEBSITE AFTER WEBSITE OF PEOPLE THAT ARE ALSO LEFT STRANDED JUST LIKE MY SELF AND CANNOT AFFORD THIS BECAUSE OF A CHEAP SHORT CUT FLAW FORD NEGLECTS TO OWN UP TO WE CAN ALL HANDLE THIS LIKE GROWN UPS AND FINALLY GET THE PRODUCT WE ALL SHOULD HAVE IN THE FIRST PLACE INSTEAD OF A RECURRING FLAWED MOTOR THANK YOU [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6). *TR
PULLED INTO PARKING SPACE, APPLIED BRAKE AND PEDAL WENT ALL THE WAY TO FLOOR. TRUCK ROLLED FORWARD INTO BUMPER OF PARKED CAR. UPON INSPECTION, FOUND STEEL BRAKE LINE RUSTED THROUGH, JUST ABOVE FLEX LINE RUNNING TO DRIVER'S SIDE FRONT BRAKE, WITH BRAKE FLUID FLOWING OUT OF CORROSION HOLE. THERE WAS NEVER ANY INDICATION THAT THE TRUCK HAD ANY PROBLEMS AT ALL WITH THE BRAKES. I WAS ON MY WAY TO THE HIGHWAY AND AM THANKING GOD I DECIDED TO MAKE A QUICK STOP TO MY LOCAL FOOD STORE FIRST. IT COULD HAVE BEEN A HUGE DISASTER! I CAN'T BELIEVE FUEL AND BRAKE LINES ARE NOT REQUIRED TO BE MADE OF STAINLESS STEEL - MOST ESPECIALLY IN STATES THAT SALT THE ROADS IN WINTER! *TR
RECEIVED RECALL FROM FORD MOTOR CO ABOUT GAS TANK STRAPS. SCHEDULED APPOINTMENT WITH FREEDOM FORD 3941 ADMIRAL PEARY HWY EBENSBURG PA 15931. WENT TO FREEDOM THEY LOOKED AT MY TRUCK TOLD ME THAT STRAPS RUSTED FRAME AND WOULD NEED TO BE REPAIRED I TOLD TO DO IT, THAT IT SHOULD BE COVERED BECAUSE OF PREMATURE RUSTING OF STRAPS. SERVICE WRITER SAID IT IS NOT COVERED IT WOULD HAVE TO BE SENT TO HIS MECHANICS HOUSE AND WOULD COST $300. I ASKED WHY IT COULD NOT BE DONE AT FREEDOM AND HE STATED THEY DO NOT DO THAT WORK HERE. I TOLD HIM I DO NOT HAVE THE MONEY THAT IT SHOULD BE COVERED. HE SAID THAT THEY WOULD NOT REPAIR IT. I LEFT FREEDOM AND MY TANK FELL AFTER ARRIVING HOME. I HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO USE MY TRUCK AND BELIEVE FORD SHOULD PAY TO HAVE THIS REPAIRED. *TR

THE CONTACT REFERENCED NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 11V385000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE:STORAGE:TANK ASSEMBLY:MOUNTING) AND TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION. THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED THAT THE FUEL TANK FAILED THEREFORE, THE RECALL REPAIR COULD NOT BE PERFORMED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED BUT PROVIDED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 150,000.

FUEL TANK NOW LEAKS AFTER THE FORD DEALER REPLACED THE STRAPS (11S21 RECALL). THEY SAID THEY WILL NOT COVER THE TANK REPLACEMENT EVEN THOUGH THE TANK DID NOT LEAK BEFORE THEY REPLACED THE STRAPS! *TR
FAILURE OF GAS TANK STRAP CAUSING FUEL TANK TO FALL. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 1999 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE TRAVELING 25 MPH, HE HEARD AN ABNORMAL DRAGGING SOUND FROM UNDER THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT MERGED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND NOTICED THAT THE FUEL TANK HAD BECOME DETACHED FROM THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE WHERE A PRIVATE MECHANIC CONFIRMED THAT THE FUEL TANK FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TOWED TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THE CONTACT WAS AWAITING REPAIRS UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 11V385000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE:STORAGE:TANK ASSEMBLY:MOUNTING). THE DEALER ADVISED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT BE REPAIRED UNDER THE RECALL BECAUSE THE FAILURE WAS CAUSED BY OTHER COMPONENTS NOT MENTIONED IN THE RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 306,000.
INSIDE OF TIRE IS SEPARATING. LARGE BUBBLE , 4" X 6" IN SIZE. NO OTHER LEAKS OR PUNCTURES OR PATCHES/PLUGS IN TIRE. CAUSES EXTREME VIBRATIONS. HAD TO REMOVE AND REPLACE ALL FOUR TIRES FOR SAFETY REASONS. 265 70R 17 WRANGLER AT/S *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 1999 FORD F250. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FUEL TANK BECAME DETACHED FROM THE VEHICLE WHILE DRIVING AN UNKNOWN SPEED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER, WHO ADVISED THAT THE FUEL TANK STRAPS WERE CORRODED AND CAUSED THE FUEL TANK TO SEPARATE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 210,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 1999 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT BOTH THE AIR CONDITIONER AND THE HEATER WERE INOPERABLE. THE CONTACT WAS ALSO UNABLE TO USE THE DEFROSTER SYSTEM. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THEY ADVISED HIM THAT THE FLAPPER THAT WAS INSIDE THE HEATER BLOWER FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 136,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 146,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 1999 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED AND IGNITED IN FLAMES. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN EARLIER THAT DAY BUT THE VEHICLE SEEMED TO FUNCTION NORMALLY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS ABLE TO EXTINGUISH THE FIRE. THERE WAS A FIRE REPORT FILED AND THE FIRE DEPARTMENT ADVISED THAT THE FIRE ORIGINATED FROM THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE ISSUE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 243,000.
UNDERFRAME IS ROTTEN AND RUSTED OUT. WAS HANGING ON BY A TWO INCH PIECE OF METAL. VEHICLE IS 1999 WITH ONLY 94,200 ORIGINAL MILES. SHOULD NOT HAVE RUSTED OUT. FORD WILL NOT ACCEPT ANY FAULT OR REPAIR. *TR
WHILE DRIVING, THERE WAS A LOUD EXPLOSION, THEN ENGINE WAS RUNNING ROUGH AND LOUD. MECHANIC STATED THAT DUE TO A FAULTY DESIGN, THE #7 SPARK PLUG HAD BEEN SHOT FROM THE ENGINE, DAMAGINE THE IGNITION COIL AND ALLOWING FUEL TO SPRAY FROM THE INJECTORS ONTO THE NOW LOOSE SPARK PLUG. MECHANIC STATED I WAS LUCKY THIS DID NOT RESULT IN AN ENGINE FIRE. ENGINE IS FORD 5.4L V8. MECHANIC EXPLAINED THAT THE DESIGN OF THE ENGINE MEANS THAT THE ALUMINUM HEADS HAVE APPROX. HALF AS MANY THREADS AS A NORMAL SPARK PLUG, MEANING THAT THIS IS A FREQUENT OCCURRENCE AND FORD IS AWARE OF THE FIRE RISK BUT HAS CHOSEN NOT TO ADDRESS. *TR
THE WINDSHIELD LEAKS ON THIS MODEL STYLE AND THE WATER RUNS DOWN TO THE GEM MODULE AND FUSE BOX CAUSING THE GEM MODULE TO SHORT OUT AND THE ELECTRONICS DO WHAT EVER THEY WANT TO. THE TRUCK WILL START ON ITS OWN EVEN IF OFF OR RUNNING AND DRIVING WITH THE STARTER ENGAGING. WINDOWS ROLL DOWN THE ALARM ACTIVATES RADIO COMES ON ALL THE ELECTRONICS COME ON AT THERE OWN EVEN WHEN PARKED WITH THE ENGINE OFF AND THE KEY REMOVED. THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM FROM MY RESEARCH TO TENS OF THOUSANDS OF THESE TRUCKS. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS DUE TO THE CAR CAN EVEN ENGAGE THE TRANSMISSION AS WELL AS IT CAN CUT OFF WHILE DRIVING AS IT HAS WITH MYSELF. THIS PART IS VERY EXPENSIVE AND THE LEAK IS VERY COMMON. *TR

FILLED UP TANK AND THE FRONT GAS STRAP FAILED ABOUT ONE MILE LATER IN TOWN. GAS FILL TUBE BROKE OFF OF TANK AND POURED GAS OUT ON ROAD, WHILE PUSHING TANK THROUGH GAS. PULLED OVER IN NEAREST PARKING LOT BECAUSE OF NOISE OF TANK BEING PUSHED ON PAVEMENT. PARKING LOT WAS A GROCERY STORE FULL OF CARS AND PEOPLE GETTING GROCERIES ON A SNOW STORM NIGHT. I HAD TO START AND MOVE THE VEHICLE AFTER INSPECTION SO THAT I DID NOT BLOW UP PEOPLE! MOVED IT TO THE BACK OF THE LOT. SNOW STORM SAVED MY LIFE AND MANY OTHER PEOPLE. HAZMAT CAME, POLICE CAME. HUGE EXPENSIVE FUEL SPILL. I HAD TRIED TO GET THE STRAPS REPLACED TWICE BEFORE THIS INCIDENT AND FORD DID NOT HAVE PARTS OR TIME. *TR

ADDITIONALLY, THE ODOMETER READING WOULD NOT DISPLAY ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL AND THE REAR SLIDING WINDOW ALLOWED PRECIPITATION TO ENTER THE VEHICLE. I BROUGHT IN MY 1999 FORD F150 TO GET AN INSPECTION AND GET A RECALL PERFORMED ON THE STRAPS THAT HOLD THE GAS TANK ON. THE GARAGE HAD THE VEHICLE FOR 6 DAYS BEFORE THEY INFORMED ME THAT THEY IN FACT COULD NOT PERFORM THE SAFETY UPGRADE BECAUSE THE FRAME OF THE TRUCK HAS TOO MUCH RUST. I BELIEVE THAT FORD MOTOR COMPANY IS RESPONSABLE FOR NOT PROVIDING ADEQUETTE PROTECTION FRO THE ELEMENTS ON THE FRAMES OF THIS MAKE/MODEL OF VEHICLE. I CALLED THE FORD MOTOR COMPANY AND WAS TOLD THAT THEY WERE ONLY RESPONSABLE FOR THE GAS TANK STRAPS AND NOT THE FRAME SO THEY WERE NOT REQUIRING THEIR DEALERSHIP TO DO THE UPGRADES. WHEN MY BEST FRIENDS 1999 TOYOTA TACOMA HAD THE SAME EACT PROBLEM ON HIS TRUCK THE TOYOTA COMPANY PAID TO PUT A NEW FRAME ON HIS TRUCK DUE TO A RECALL OF THE FRAME. THE REST OF MY FORD TRUCK IS IN GREAT CONDITION AND HAS AROUND 120,000 MILES ON IT. I HAVE HAD NO OTHER ISSUES WITH THE TRUCK EXCEPT FOR THE FRAME. BECAUSE OF THIS ISSUE THE ONLY REAL CHOICE I HAVE AT THIS POINT IS TO SCRAP THE TRUCK AND BUY ANOTHER VEHICLE. *TR
WHILE USING THE CRUISE CONTROL A FEW TIMES....WHEN I TAP IT ONCE TO DISENGAGE, MY VEHICLE SPEEDS UP! THEN I HAVE TO HOLD THE BUTTON DOWN & GENTLY TAP ON THE BRAKES TO DISENGAGE THE CRUISE CONTROL. FORTUNATELY, I WAS UNDER 1/2 MILE FROM MY HOUSE. MY ROAD DEAD ENDS ONTO ANOTHER. I APPLIED THE BRAKES AND THE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR AS I APPROACHED THE STOP SIGN. I WENT THROUGH THE STOP SIGN AND INTO THE DRAINAGE DITCH ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE ROAD. BECAUSE MY VEHICLE IS 4 WHEEL DRIVE, I WAS ABLE TO GET OUT OF THE DITCH AND RETURN HOME. UPON INSPECTION, I FOUND THAT THE BRAKE LINE THAT GOES FROM THE FRONT TO THE REAR WAS RUSTED AND FAILED. THERE WAS LITTLE DAMAGE FROM THE CRASH, JUST A FENDER THAT NEEDS REPLACED. I AM ANAL WITH REGARD TO MY VEHICLES CONDITION AND MAINTENANCE. TO HAVE A FAILURE LIKE THIS ON A WHAT IS SUPPOSED TO BE THE BEST BUILT TRUCK IS ABSURD AND TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE!
