ODOMETER LIGHT KEEPS FADING ON/OFF AND AT TIMES WILL NOT TURN ON WHEN YOU START THE ENGINE OR GO OFF WHILE DRIVING. THIS HAS BEEN AN ON-GOING PROBLEM SINCE WE PURCHASED THE VEHICLE IN 09/2000. THE DEALERSHIP LOOKED INTO IT AND FOUND IT WAS INCONCLUSIVE. *NM
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED ON SATURDAY JUNE 17TH SMOKE WAS NOTICED COMING FROM THE HOOD AREA AND FLAMES WERE PRESENT. THE FIRE OCCURRED IN THE ELECTRICAL HOUSING UNIT FOR THE MASTER CYLINDER WHICH HOLDS THE BRAKE FLUID. THE UNIT AND BRAKE FLUID CONTAINER MELTED. THE CONTACT DISCONNECTED THE BATTERY IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE FIRE WAS NOTICED. THIS WAS AN ELECTRICAL FIRE. THE VEHICLE WAS SITTING AT THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE FOR ABOUT 45 MINUTES PRIOR TO THE FIRE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DRIVING UNUSUAL. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP TO PERFORM AN INVESTIGATION TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. *AK
1) DURING NORMAL DRY WEATHER DRIVING CONDITIONS, RIGHT REAR TIRE EXPERIENCED A CATASTROPHIC FAILURE. THE ENTIRE TREAD BELT SEPARATED FROM THE SIDEWALL. SPEED WAS APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH. 2) THERE WERE NO PERSONAL INJURIES OR PROPERTY DAMAGES AS A RESULT. 3) CONTACTED CORPORATE OFFICES OF COOPER TIRE. I WAS TOLD THE TIRE WAS DAMAGED BEFORE IT EXPERIENCED THE FAILURE. I HAVE HAD THE TIRES FOR APPROXIMATELY THREE YEARS AND WHILE THERE WAS A MINIMUM OF TREAD LIFE REMAINING, THERE WAS TREAD LIFE REMAINING (APPROXIMATELY 6 MON.). WHEN I TOOK THE TIRE TO THE COOPER TIRE DEALER, I WAS TOLD THE FAILURE WAS NOT NORMAL. I HAVE PICTURES OF THE FAILED TIRE. I HAD TO PAY FOR THE REPLACEMENT TIRE. THE COOPER TIRE CORPORATE REPRESENTATIVE PRESENTED HERSELF AND HER COMPANY AS NOT AT FAULT IN THIS CASE. I AM NOT CONCERNED ABOUT HAVING TO PAY FOR THE REPLACEMENT TIRE, I SIMPLY WANTED THIS ON RECORD IN CASE OTHERS EXPERIENCE SIMILAR INCIDENTS. *NM
I HAVE HAD 3 SPARK PLUGS EJECT FROM MY 2000 F150 5.4L IN THE PAST 3 MONTHS. SO FAR, REPAIRS HAVE TOTALED $150, BUT THE LAST ONE TOOK THE THREADS WITH IT. ESTIMATE TO FIX THIS ONE IS $400 WITH A SPECIALLY MADE REPAIR KIT. AS MOST KNOW, THIS IS "THE PROBLEM THAT MUST NOT BE NAMED". EVERYONE KNOWS IT EXISTS, FORD DOESN'T WANT TO DEAL WITH IT. *NM
AT AROUND 4:45 ON FRIDAY AFTERNOON MY HUSBAND WAS IN THE BACK YARD AND NOTICED SMOKE COMING FROM THE END OF OUR HOUSE. WHEN HE WALKED AROUND THE CORNER OF THE HOUSE TO SEE WHAT WAS SMOKING HE SAW FIRE COMING FROM THE HOOD OF OUR 2000 FORD F-150 XL TRUCK. THE TRUCK WAS NEAR THE HOUSE SO HE GOT OUR DAUGHTER OUT OF THE HOUSE AND CALLED 911. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT RESPONDED IN AROUND 10 MINUTES. WHEN THE FIRE DEPARTMENT ARRIVED THE TRUCK ENGINE AND CAB WERE COMPLETELY ENGULFED IN FLAMES. WHEN THE FIRE WAS EXTINGUISHED, THE ENTIRE FRONT OF THE TRUCK WAS DESTROYED INCLUDING THE FRONT GRILL, ENGINE, FRONT TIRES, CAB AND INTERIOR. THE BACK BED OF THE TRUCK AND THE BACK TIRES DID NOT APPEAR DAMAGED. MY HUSBAND HAD PICKED MY DAUGHTER UP FROM SCHOOL AND ARRIVED HOME AT AROUND 3:15. HE NOTICED THE FIRE AT AROUND 4:45. UP UNTIL THE FIRE, MY HUSBAND HAD NOT HAD ANY PROBLEM WITH THE TRUCK. AT THIS POINT I AM RESEARCHING TO SEE IF THE FIRE MAY BE RELATED TO NHTSA RECALL CAMPAIGN NUMBER 05V017000 NOTED ON YOUR WEB-SITE. I AM ALSO TRYING TO FIND OUT HOW TO GO ABOUT REPORTING IT TO FORD MOTOR COMPANY. *NM
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE VEHICLE ERUPTED INTO FLAMES AFTER BEING PARKED FOR AN HOUR. THERE WERE NO PROBLEMS WITH THE VEHICLE PRIOR TO THE INCIDENT. THE VEHICLE WAS TOTALED. THE SERVICE DEALER REMOVED THE CRUISE CONTROL ONE YEAR AGO BECAUSE OF THE POTENTIAL OF FIRE. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE AND DETERMINED THE FIRE STARTED IN THE FRONT ENGINE COMPARTMENT UNDER THE HOOD. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT ALSO DETERMINED ALL OF THE WIRE HARNESSES WERE INTACT.
BLOWN SPARK PLUG ON MY 2000 FORD F-150 5.4 TRITON. KNOWN TO ONLY HAVE HALF THE REQUIRED THREADS IN THE CYLINDER HEAD FOR THE SPARK PLUG, HAVE HAD NEITHER COMPENSATION OR A RECALL. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AS IT HAPPENED TO ME TOWING A BOAT GOING ON TO THE INTERSTATE. DESTROYED THE PLUG, THE COIL PACK (COP STYLE) AND THE INTAKE ELBOW OF MY AFTER MARKET INTAKE SYSTEM. OVER $600 IN DAMAGES. *JB
I REAR ENDED ANOTHER VEHICLE THAT WAS COMPLETELY STOPPED. I WAS GOING ABOUT 35 TO 40 MPH. THERE IS $8500 DAMAGE TO MY F150 TRUCK. THE DAMAGE IS ALL IN THE FRONT END. MY AIR BAG DID NOT COME OUT. NO ONE CAN TELL ME WHY. HAD THE AIR BAG CAME OUT THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN ENOUGH DAMAGE TO TOTAL THE TRUCK. NOW I WILL BE DRIVING AROUND IN A TRUCK THAT I DON'T KNOW IF THE AIR BAG WILL WORK OR NOT. *JB
MY 2000 F-150 FORD PICKUP. I WENT OUT IN MY DRIVEWAY AND NOTICED SOMETHING HANGING DOWN FROM UNDER THE TRUCK. IT TURNED OUT TO BE THE REAR STRAP THAT HOLDS THE GAS TANK ON THE TRUCK. IT HAS RUSTED AND CAME APART. THE GAS TANK HAD DROPPED DOWN ABOUT 3 INCHES AND HAS ALL THE HOSES PULLED TIGHT. FORD SAYS THERE ARE NO RECALL ON MY TRUCK. *JB
WHILE DRIVING ON A SMOOTH PAVED ROAD THE STRAPS WHICH ATTACH THE FUEL TANK TO THE VEHICLE FAILED, CAUSING THE TANK TO FALL TO THE ROAD. THE TANK WAS STILL ATTACHED TO THE VEHICLE BY THE FUEL INLET LINE, CAUSING THE TANK TO BE DRUG FOR APPROXIMATELY 50 FT BEFORE THE VEHICLE WAS STOPPED. *TR
(1) DUE TO THE PARTICULAR DESIGN FLAW OF THE " TIE END RODS" (THE TIE ENDS DO NOT HAVE A GREASE NIPPLE TO ALLOW CRITICAL LUBRICATION OF THESE PARTS!), THE PASSENGER SIDE "UPPER TIE END ROD" COMPLETELY SEPARATED FROM ITS NORMAL POSITION WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION. (2) THE VEHICLE OPERATOR WAS UNABLE TO STEER THE VEHICLE TO A SAFE CLEARANCE AND WAS FORCED TO IMMEDIATELY STOP ON A TWO LANE BRIDGE AND BLOCK ONE OF THE LANES. (3) ALL OF THE "TIE ENDS RODS" WERE REPLACED WITH NEW PARTS THAT HAVE A NIPPLE FOR LUBRICATION SO THAT THE "WEAR" ITEM CAN BE MAINTAINED BY APPLYING GREASE. THE OLD PART IS AVAILABLE. *NM
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE CRUISE CONTROL FAILED TO ACTIVATE. THE CONTACT REPLACED THE CRUISE CONTROL START BUTTON HOWEVER WHEN PRESSED IT WOULD ACTIVATE THE HORN INSTEAD OF THE CRUISE CONTROL. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE ODOMETER WOULD INTERMITTENTLY ILLUMINATE TO DISPLAY THE MILEAGE OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER AND WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 159,000.
WAS DRIVING ON FREEWAY FORD F150 PICKUP ENGINE BLOW OUT THE #1 SPARK PLUG, SECOND 6 MTHS AGO SAME ENGINE BLOW OUT THE #4 REAR SPARK PLUG NEAR PASSENGER, NOW HAVE TO REPLACE ENGINE VERY COSTLY. *NM
MY 2000 FORD F-150 W/ A TRITON 5.4 L ENGINE (: ) BLEW THE #3 SPARK PLUG. THERE WERE NO UNUSUAL EVENTS LEADING UP TO THE FAILURE. I TOOK THE TRUCK TO THE DEALER AND THEY WANTED TO CHARGE ME $3000 FOR A NEW HEAD OR $1000 FOR INSERTION OF A HELICOIL. I KNOW THAT THIS IS HAPPENING ON MANY TRUCKS LIKE MINE. WHY IS FORD NOT BEING FORCED TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THIS FAILURE? IT IS OBVIOUS TO ME THAT IT IS NOT IMPROPER INSTALLATION OF A SPARK PLUG, A FEW TOO MANY COINCIDENCES FOR THAT I THINK. *TR
FORD TRITON 5.4L V-8 HEADS. ALUMINUM HEADS ARE SO POORLY ENGINEERED THAT THEY WILL NOT RETAIN THE SPARK PLUGS UNDER NORMAL LOADS. OVER $5,000 IN REPAIR COSTS, FORD REFUSES TO ACKNOWLEDGE ANY PROBLEM. *NM
I OWN A 2000 FORD F-150 AND YESTERDAY THE HEATER CORE STARTING LEAKING. THIS TRUCK HAS BEEN SERVICED ACCORDING TO THE MANUAL. I ONLY HAVE 64000 MILES ON IT. I HAVE CONTACTED SEVERAL REPAIR SHOPS AND WAS TOLD THAT FORD HAS HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE CORE FAILING AND THAT THEY HAD A RECALL ON IT. I CONTACTED SEVERAL FORD DEALERSHIPS IN MY AREA AND WAS TOLD THERE WAS NO RECALLS ON THIS PROBLEM. I HAVE HAD ESTIMATES OF FROM $600.00 TO $800.00 TO FIX THE PROBLEM. I AM GOING TO GET IT FIXED BUT I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF THERE WAS A RECALL ON THIS PROBLEM ?????? THIS PART SHOULD NOT HAVE FAILED THIS SOON. *NM

DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE DOOR LOCKS FAILED TO OPERATE NORMALLY USING THE KEY FOB. THE LOCKS MUST BE MANUALLY OPENED OR CLOSED. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DETERMINED THE ACTUATOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT MADE SEVERAL ATTEMPTS TO PURCHASE A USED ACTUATOR FROM LOCAL JUNK YARDS WITHOUT SUCCESS.
TRANSMISSION WENT OUT. VEHICLE IS ONLY DRIVEN ABOUT 200 MILES A WEEK, AND SITS FROM MONDAY TO FRIDAY WITHOUT BEING DRIVEN AT ALL. IT JUST WENT OUT WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. HAS NOT BEEN FIXED YET. WAS NOT GOING FAST AT THE TIME BECAUSE WE HAD JUST STOPPED AT A LIGHT AND WHEN WE STARTED DRIVING IT HAD NO POWER. *NM
A VEHICLE FIRE OCCURRED ON A 2000 FORD F150 AT THE HOME OF THE OWNER ON MARCH 8, 2006. THE FIRE STARTED IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT OF THE TRUCK WHILE IT WAS PARKED UNDER THE CARPORT, WITH THE ENGINE OFF, AND THE IGNITION KEY REMOVED. THE TRUCK HAD BEEN PARKED APPROXIMATELY 2 1/2 HOURS WHEN THE FIRE OCCURRED. WHEN THE FIRE WAS DETECTED, FLAMES HAD ALMOST REACHED THE CEILING OF THE CARPORT. THE OWNER WAS ABLE TO PUSH THE TRUCK INTO THE STREET, WHERE IT CONTINUED TO BURN UNTIL EXTINGUISHED BY THE FIRE DEPARTMENT. THE TRUCK WAS DESTROYED IN THE FIRE. ON MARCH 20, 2006, AND INDEPENDENT INVESTIGATOR INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND DETERMINED THAT THE FIRE WAS CAUSED BY FAILURE OF THE SPEED CONTROL DEACTIVATION SWITCH. THE INVESTIGATOR DOCUMENTED HIS INVESTIGATION WITH PHOTOGRAPHS. FORD MOTOR COMPANY (FMC) STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN A RECALL TO CORRECT A PROBLEM WITH SPONTANEOUS FIRES ERUPTING IN THE SPEED CONTROL DEACTIVATION SWITCH, BUT THE OWNER WAS NEVER NOTIFIED OF A RECALL. THE OWNER HAS CONTACTED AND PROVIDED INFORMATION AND PHOTOGRAPHS TO THE FMC SPEED CONTROL DEACTIVATION SWITCH RECALL CUSTOMER INFORMATION TEAM, FMC CONSUMER AFFAIRS, AND THE LOCAL FMC DEALERSHIP. *NM
2000 FORD EXCURSION LIGHT SWITCH TO HEADLIGHT BROKE. *NM
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN THE DRIVEWAY, IT ERUPTED INTO FLAMES. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT CAME AND EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE. THE MANUFACTURER SENT A REPRESENTATIVE TO INSPECT THE REMAINS OF THE VEHICLE. THE FIRE WAS TOO EXTENT TO DETERMINE THE EXACT CAUSE. THE CONTACT RECEIVED A RECALL LETTER SEVERAL WEEKS AFTER THE INCIDENT; NHTSA RECALL # 05V388000 CONCERNING THE CRUISE CONTROL.
THE SPARK PLUG BLEW OUT OF THE HEAD, REPAIR WAS VERY COSTLY. THIS SHOULD NOT HAPPEN. I ALSO HAVE HAD 3 COIL PACKS GO BAD ON THIS VEHICLE. *JB
(1) NOTHING REMARKABLE HAPPENED LEADING UP TO THE FAILURE. THE TRUCK WAS IDLING WHEN THE FAILURE OCCURRED. (2) THE FAILURE WAS THE #3 SPARK PLUG BLOWING OUT OF THE HEAD WHICH ALSO DAMAGED THE COIL IN MY 2000 FORD EXPEDITION 5.4L ENGINE, WHICH HAD 82000 MILES. (3) THE HEAD WAS REPAIRED WITH AN AFTERMARKET KIT THAT ALLOWED A NEW SPARK PLUG TO BE INSTALLED. OLD SPARK PLUG HAS BEEN DISCARDED. *JB
THE PASSENGER SIDE REAR SPARK PLUG BLEW OUT OF THE ENGINE HEAD. THIS TRUCK HAS 54,000 MILES ON IT AND IS VERY WELL MAINTAINED. REPAIR ESTIMATES ARE IN EXCESS OF $3,000.00. THIS HAPPENED IN A WELL TRAVELED AREA AND IT WAS ME AND NOT MY WIFE AND KIDS STRANDED. THERE IS AN OBVIOUS FLAW IN THE HEAD DESIGN THAT FORD HAS SINCE RECTIFIED. IT IS OUTRAGEOUS THAT A $30,000 TRUCK THAT IS WELL MAINTAINED SHOULD HAVE THIS KIND OF FAILURE 18,000 MILES OUT OF FACTORY WARRANTY. *NM
"FRONT ENGINE COVER GASKET FAILED IN LINE WITH RECALL 99B29. FORD DOES NOT INCLUDE MY TRUCK, BUILT 05/99 IN RECALL CAMPAIGN 99B29 INDICATING THE ORIGINAL RECALL HAS BEEN INADEQUATE." *JB
I BOUGHT A 2000 FORD F-150 WITH THE 4.2L V6 ENGINE AND I NOW HAVE TO REPLACE THE ENGINE BECAUSE OF A DEFECT THAT FORD IS AWARE OF I HAVE DONE A LOT OF RESEARCH ON THIS ISSUE AND HAVE FOUND THOUSANDS OF OTHER 4.2L V6 OWNERS THAT HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM AND FORD WILL NOT DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT I HAVE ASKED FORD FOR HELP IN THE REPLACEMENT OF THE ENGINE. I WAS GIVEN EXCUSES AND TOLD TO GO AWAY AND BUY A NEW ENGINE. I TRIED TO MAKE A FORMAL COMPLAINT TO FORD BUT I WAS TOLD THAT IT WOULD BE BROUGHT TO THEIR ATTENTION WITH NO PAPERWORK FILLED OUT. I AM VERY UPSET WITH THE WAY A LOYAL CUSTOMER OF FORD IS BEING TREATED. I NOW HAVE TO REPLACE THE ENGINE BUT CANNOT AFFORD TO. THERE IS A DEFECTIVE SEAL OR GASKET THAT LEAKS ANTIFREEZE INTO THE ENGINE AND CAUSES PISTONS TO BREAK ROD TO BE PUSHED OUT OF THE ENGINE AND SEVERAL OTHER INTERIOR ENGINE PARTS TO BREAK. FORD MOTOR COMPANY WILL NOT REPLACE THE ENGINE EVEN THOUGH IT IS A DEFECT ON THEIR BEHALF NOT THE BUYER. FORD DOES NOT TELL NEW CUSTOMERS ABOUT THE PROBLEM AND CONTINUE TO SELL THE VEHICLES KNOWING THAT THE ENGINE IS DEFECTIVE. ALL I WOULD LIKE IS FOR FORD TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THEIR ENGINE AND REPLACE IT WITH A DIFFERENT ENGINE OR MAKE SURE THAT THE NEW ENGINE WILL NOT CAUSE THE SAME PROBLEM. *JB
I OWN A 2000 FORD F-150. ONE OF THE SPARK PLUGS BLEW OUT OF IT'S HOLE CAUSING PROBLEMS WITH THE ENGINE. *JB
MY SON WAS TRAVELING ABOUT 45 MPH AND A CAR TURNED LEFT IN FRONT OF HIM. HE HIT THE CAR IN THE DRIVERS SIDE AND NEITHER ONE OF HIS FRONTAL AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. THE OTHER DRIVER WAS IN A HONDA CIVIC AND BOTH HIS AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. MY SON HAD BACK, NECK, ARM, KNEE AND LEG INJURIES. THE POLICE AND FIRE DEPT SAID THE AIR BAGS SHOULD HAVE DEPLOYED. THE TRUCK IS BEING LOOKED AT NOW TO DETERMINE IF IT CAN BE FIXED OR TOTALED. *JB

A CRACK WAS NOTICED ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR AT THE REAR OF THE WINDOW MOLDING. UPON INQUIRY WITH A BODY REPAIR SHOP, THEY TOLD ME FORD KNOWS ABOUT THE PROBLEM AND I COULD GO TO THE DEALER TO GET IT REPAIRED. THE CRACK IS RUSTING AND MAY HAMPER THE INTEGRITY OF THE DOOR, ESPECIALLY IN A SIDE IMPACT COLLISION.. UPON CONTACTING FORD, THEY SAID THEY HAVE NO KNOWLEDGE OF THE PROBLEM EVEN THOUGH I HAVE A COPY OF THE BULLETIN THEY SENT TO ALL DEALERSHIPS DESCRIBING THE PROBLEM. *JB
DT: THE CONTACT REPLACED THE RADIATOR SEVERAL TIMES ON HIS VEHICLE. THE DEALER SAID THERE WAS NO SOLUTION FOR THE RADIATOR PROBLEM. THEY SUGGESTED PURCHASING AN AFTER MARKET RADIATOR AFTER THE WARRANTY EXPIRES ON HIS VEHICLE. *AK THE CONSUMER RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE IN THE MAIL REGARDING THE RADIATOR AS PART OF THE TRAILER TOWED PACKAGE. THE DEALER INSTALLED THE UPGRADE RADIATOR, HOWEVER AFTER THE INSTALLATION, THE CONSUMER HAD NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS. THE RADIATOR HAD TO BE REPLACED 5 TIMES. UPDATED 11/29/05. *JB
I HAVE A 2000 F-150 THAT I HAVE HAD SINCE 2000. I KEPT MY TRUCKS OIL CHANGED ON A REGULAR BASIS. ON A NOVEMBER SATURDAY AS MY FAMILY AND I WAS GOING TO VISIT SOME RELATIVES ABOUT 30 MILES AWAY FROM MY HOME. MY TRUCK SHUT DOWN WITHOUT ANY APPARENT REASON. I HAD IT TOWED TO THE NEAREST FORD DEALERSHIP TO BE CHECKED. THE TECHNICIAN SAID THAT THE TIMING HAD JUMPED AND THE OIL PRESSURE DROPPED. THE TECHNICIAN TOOK THE VALVE COVERS OFF TO SEE WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS. TO HIS SURPRISE IT WAS STILL FILLED WITH OIL AND AFTER DOING A MORE IN-DEPTH STUDY OF THE ENGINE, SLUDGE WAS IN THE OIL PAN AND EVERYWHERE ELSE. I ASKED THE FORD TECHNICIAN AS TO HOW COULD THIS HAVE HAPPENED AND WITH A REPLY OF I DON'T KNOW. AS A RESULT MY MOTOR IS NO GOOD. *NM
DURING A RAINY DAY I FOUND WATER LEAKING INTO MY EXPEDITION THROUGH THE SUNROOF AND THE TRIM AROUND THE WINDSHIELD. THE NEXT DAY THE CAR WOULD NOT START AS THE THEFT LIGHT WAS BLINKING. WHEN WE WOULD GET IT STARTED AND THEN ONCE IT WAS TURNED OFF, THE HEAT/AIR WOULD CONTINUE TO RUN. ALSO, THE ODOMETER NUMBERS WOULD BLINK. WE IMMEDIATELY TOOK TO THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD BOTH THE SUNROOF AND WINDSHIELD WERE LEAKING AND THE GEM MODULE AND FUSE BOX WERE DESTROYED. THE REPAIRS WERE MADE INCLUDING A NEW WINDSHIELD FOR A TOTAL OF APPROXIMATELY $1200. *JB

MY HUSBAND AND I WERE GOING TO WORK IN EVERGREEN CO. WHEN SOMETHING BLEW IN THE FRONT OF OUR TRUCK. WE HAD A IMMEDIATE STRONG SMELL OF GAS AND THE TRUCK STARTED TO SHAKE AND MAKE VERY LOUD NOISES. A GARAGE IN EVERGREEN LOOKED AT OUR TRUCK AND TOLD US WHAT HAD HAPPENED TO IT AND SAID NOT TO DRIVE IT TO FAR BECAUSE IT COULD HURT THE ENGINE MORE THAN IT DID. WE WENT AND BOUGHT A COIL AND SPARK PLUG AND WAITED ALL DAY FOR THE GUY TO FIX THE TRUCK. HE SAID WE WERE LUCKY HE HAD A TOOL TO FIX IT BECAUSE HE HAD THE ONLY ONE IN EVERGREEN. HE HAD TO RETHREAD THE BLOCK SO THAT HE COULD PUT THE NEW PLUG AND NEW COIL ON. HE ALSO TOLD US OTHER PEOPLE HAVE HAD THIS SAME PROBLEM IN EVERGREEN. *JB

THE TRUCK WAS PARKED IN THE CAR PORT, AND THE CONSUMER WALKED OUT AND FOUND THE VEHICLE COMPLETELY ENGULFED IN FLAMES. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT CAME AND PUT THE FIRE OUT. THE CONSUMER HAD NOT RECEIVED ANY RECALL LETTER ON THE VEHICLE. FORD MOTOR COMPANY HAS BEEN CALLED ,AND THE CONSUMER FILED A REPORT WITH THEM. FORD REPLIED THAT CONSUMER'S INSURANCE COMPANY WOULD BE BACK IN TOUCH WITH THEM. THE DEALERSHIP HAS NOT BEEN CONTACTED AT THIS POINT, BUT WILL BE CALLED LATER. THE INSURANCE COMPANY CAME AND TOOK THE TRUCK TO DO THEIR OWN INVESTIGATIONS. FIRE AND INSURANCE REPORTS WERE TAKEN. . THE CONSUMER HAS PICTURES AVAILABLE TO VIEW. THERE WAS ADDITIONAL PROPERTY DAMAGE TO THE CAR PORT. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE TRUCK WAS TOTALED. THE CONSUMER WILL HAVE ACCESS TO WHEN THE COPY WILL BEE RECEIVED. THE TRUCK WAS REGULARLY MAINTAINED. THE TRUCK WAS ENGULFED IN FLAMES WITHIN A FEW SECONDS. A WITNESS STATED TO THE OWNER THAT THE TRUCK SOUNDED LIKE IT WAS TRYING TO START IT. THE WITNESS SAID THE TRUCK SOUNDED LIKE THE ENGINE WAS CRANKING. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT CAME AND PUT OUT THE FIRE. THE FIRE CHIEF STATED THAT THE FIRE STARTED ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE UNDER THE HOOD. THE POLICE WERE ALSO PRESENT. FIRE REPORT, POLICE REPORT , AND INSURANCE REPORT WERE TAKEN. THE CONSUMER WAS GOING TO TAKE PICTURES OF THE VEHICLE. 2000 FORD LIGHTNING SUPER CHARGER INTERCOOLER LEAKS COOLANT INTO THE ENGINE. ONCE THE COOLANT IS DRAINED, IT CAN CAUSE A CONDITION CALLED VAPOR LOCK, WHICH WILL LOCK THE MOTOR WITHOUT WARNING. THIS WOULD BE CAUSE FROM THE SUPER HEATED AIR THEN ENTERING FROM THE SUPER CHARGER. THIS COULD CAUSE AN ACCIDENT, AND I'M SURE IS NOT GREAT FOR EMISSIONS SINCE COOLANT IS NOW BEING LEAKED INTO THE COMBUSTION CHAMBER. *JB

AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON SAY THE BAGS ARE OUT AND THEY ARE NOT AND IT KEEPS STAYING ON. I CAN NOT GET IT TO STAY OFF PLEASE SEE IF THERE IS A RECALL FOR THESE BECAUSE MY DAUGHTER HAD A 1997 FORD ESCORT THAT CAUGHT FIRE BECAUSE OF A RECALL ON THE AIRBAG THAT SHE WAS NEVER NOTIFIED ABOUT. *JB

FORD STATED THERE WAS NO RECALL BASED ON THE VEHICLE IDENTIFICATION NUMBER. THE CONTACT THEN FOUND RECALL, 01V258000. THE CONTACT WOULD LIKE TO BE REIMBURSED FOR THE WORK HE HAD DONE TO HIS VEHICLE. 2000 FORD F-150 4.2L V6 HEAD GASKET FAILURE. MY VEHICLE BEGAN OVERHEATING AND SMOKING WHITE SMOKE ABOUT 2 WEEKS AGO. ALSO NOTICED THAT HEATER WOULD ONLY PUT OUT COOL AIR, UNLESS THE ENGINE STARTED TO OVERHEAT. ENDED UP NEEDING A NEW HEAD GASKET, WHICH COME TO FIND OUT ARE NOTORIOUS ON THE 4.2L V6 MOTORS. I CAUGHT IT BEFORE ANY MOTOR DAMAGE WAS DONE SO NO ADDED EXPENSES WERE NEEDED. HOWEVER IT STILL WAS NOT A CHEAP FIX. I KNOW OF AT LEAST A HUNDRED 4.2L V6 F-150 OWNERS WHO HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM AND MOST WOULD BE WILLING TO HELP FURTHER AN INVESTIGATION. I DO STILL HAVE THE OLD GASKET IF NEEDED. *NM

LEAKING INTER COOLER FOR SUPERCHARGER. COOLANT LEAKS IN INTAKE AND COULD CAUSE ENGINE TO LOCKUP. IF ENGINE LOCKS UP FIRST THING I WILL LOOSE IS STEERING. THERE WAS A 'CUSTOMER SATISFACTION FIX # 01BB1' , FOR A SHORT WHILE FORD WAS FIXING THIS AT NO COST TO CUSTOMER. THE PART NUMBER IS SPO XL3Z 9424 AB.
