DT: THE CONSUMER STATED WHILE TRAVELING AT 5 MPH IN 2000 FORD F150 THE GAS TANK FELL OFF THE TRUCK. THE WHOLE GAS TANK, LINES AND SENSOR FELL RIGHT OFF THE TRUCK. THE TRUCK HAS BEEN TAKEN TO A DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIRS. THE CONSUMER CALLED FORD, AND FORD STATED, THAT THEY COULD NOT HELP OUT. THE CONSUMER SAID THAT EVERYTHING WAS FINE WITH THE TRUCK BEFORE THIS. THE TANK WAS COMPLETELY FULL OF FUEL AT THE TIME.*AK
AT APPROXIMATELY 10:45 PM EDT WE WERE NOTIFIED BY NEIGHBORS THAT OUR 2000 FORD F-150 WAS ON FIRE IN OUR DRIVEWAY. THE FIRE DESTROYED THE TRUCK AND CAUSED HEAT DAMAGE TO THE HOUSE DUE TO THE CLOSE PROXIMITY. THE HOUSE DID NOT BURN. *JB
I OWN A 2000 FORD EXCURSION (4 WHEEL DRIVE). ON THREE OCCASIONS THE CRUISE CONTROL HAS GONE ON AUTOMATICALLY CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO ACCELERATE. DURING THE MOST RECENT EVENT MY WIFE ALMOST HIT ANOTHER VEHICLE. I WILL CONTACT THE DEALERSHIP FIRST THING MONDAY MORNING, BUT THOUGHT YOU SHOULD HAVE THIS INFO ON THE VEHICLE. *NM
BOUGHT TRUCK IN APRIL 2005. CRUISE CONTROL QUIT NEXT DAY. SUDDENLY STARTED WORKING, SEVERAL HOURS LATER, TRUCK IGNITED AT A GAS STATION WHILE PARKED. FUEL NOT INVOLVED. TRUCK RECEIVED EXTENSIVE DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE, AND FRONT. NOT REPAIRABLE. *NM
I PURCHASED A USED 2000 FORD F150 IN FEB.- 2003 FROM A FORD DEALERSHIP IN FAYETTEVILLE, NC. ON AUGUST 8, 2005 THAT TRUCK CAUGHT FIRE AND DESTROYED OUR HOME AND HOME BASED BUSINESS,WE WERE NOT HOME AT THE TIME OF THE FIRE. WE ARRIVED HOME ABOUT 15 MINUTES AFTER. THEN NOTHING BUT A FIRE BALL AND MY HOUSE BURNING! JENNIFER SAT DOWN BESIDE A FIRE TRUCK AND LAID HER HEAD ON HER KNEES FOR 3 HOURS UNABLE TO COMFORT HER TWO SMALL CHILDREN AND I WAS IN COMPLETE SHOCK AND HELD MY DAUGHTER FOR OVER 3 HOURS IN MY ARMS AND I COULD NOT EVEN SPEAK. I ONLY REMEMBER ASKING JENNIFER, "WHAT HAPPENED AND WHAT WILL HAPPEN TO US NOW." A NEIGHBOR WAS DRIVING HOME THAT DAY AND SAID HE SAW FLAMES COMING OUT FROM UNDER THE HOOD OF MY TRUCK WHICH WAS PARKED PARTIALLY UNDER THE CARPORT. HE SAID THE TRUCK WAS THEN WITHIN SECONDS BURNING SO FIERCELY THAT IT BLEW UP LIKE A BOMB SENDING A FIRE BOMB INTO OUR HOME. I COULD NOT BELIEVE IT WHEN HE SAID THAT MY TRUCK HAD CAUGHT FIRE AND DESTROYED OUR HOME. WE LOST EVERYTHING. I RUN A ROOFING COMPANY AND JENNIFER HANDLED ALL MY PAPERWORK - THE OFFICE WAS SET UP AT HOME SO SHE COULD STAY HOME WITH OUR CHILDREN. WE LOST OUR BUSINESS, HOME AND MEMORIES SUCH AS PICTURES OF OUR CHILDREN AND FAMILY. I AM STILL TRYING TO RECOVER EMOTIONALLY AND FINANCIALLY FROM OUR LOSS DUE TO FIRE. FORD MOTOR CO. SENT A INVESTIGATOR TO INVESTIGATE THE FIRE AND OUR HOMEOWNERS INS. INVESTIGATOR ALSO WAS THERE THE DAY "FORD FINALLY SENT SOMEONE TO INVESTIGATE THE FIRE". JENNIFER'S BROTHER-IN-LAW, AN ATTORNEY IN TEXAS TOLD US ABOUT CRUISE CONTROL DEFECT ON SOME FORD VEHICLES. WE WERE NOT AWARE OF THIS. THE CRUISE CONTROL WAS FOUND BY MIRACLE AND SENT FOR X-RAY AND WAS FOUND TO BE THE CAUSE OF THE FIRE. WHAT IF JENNIFER HAD BEEN DRIVING THAT TRUCK ON THAT DAY? WHAT IF I HAD LOST MY CHILDREN AND THEIR MOTHER? FORD MOTOR COMPANY RUINED OUR LIVES. WE NOW LIVE IN A ONE BEDROOM HOUSE WITH THREE CHILDREN. *JB
MY 2000 FORD F-150 XLT CAUGHT ON FIRE AT APPROXIMATELY 10:40 PM SUNDAY, AUGUST 7, 2005. THE FIRE AND SMOKE WAS POURING OUT FROM UNDER THE HOOD. *JB
DT: ON 8-6-05 WHILE PARKED VEHICLE HAD CAUGHT ON FIRE. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT TOLD CONSUMER THAT FIRE WAS CAUSED BY THE CRUISE CONTROL. PREVIOUSLY THE CRUISE CONTROL HAD STOPPED WORKING ON 6-29-05. CONSUMER TRIED TO SET THE CRUISE CONTROL AND LIGHT ON THE DASHBOARD WOULD COME ON FOR LESS THAN A SECOND BEFORE IT WOULD DISAPPEAR. AFTER THE FIRE THE CONSUMER CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP, AND THEY TOLD HER TO CONTACT HER INSURANCE COMPANY. THEN CONSUMER CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURER, THEY TOLD HER THE SAME THING. RECALL 05V017000 WAS ISSUED. HOWEVER, CONSUMER'S VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL DUE TO VIN. THE FIRE CAUSED SOME DAMAGE TO A FENCE AND SOME SHRUBBERY. *AK
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED, IT ERUPTED INTO FLAMES ON THE LEFT DRIVER'S SIDE UNDERHOOD AREA. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS CONTACTED AND EXTINGUISHED THE FLAMES. A MANUFACTURER REPRESENTATIVE INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND TOOK PICTURES OF THE SEVERE FIRE DAMAGE. AFTERWARDS, THE REPRESENTATIVE SUGGESTED THAT DUE TO THE EXTENSIVE FIRE DAMAGE, IT COULD NOT BE DETERMINED IF THE FIRE WAS CRUISE CONTROL RELATED. THE VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN THE NHTSA RECALL # 05V388000 CONCERNING THE CRUISE CONTROL, BUT NO RECALL NOTIFICATION WAS RECEIVED BY THE CONTACT.
DRIVING DOWN SMOOTH ROAD,ENGINE QUIT WITH NO WARNING BUT THE THEFT LIGHT FLASHED AND THE SPEEDOMETER FLASHED. I WAS ABLE TO RESTART ENGINE WITHOUT A PROBLEM. THEN AFTER SHUTTING ENGINE OFF LATER IT WOULD CRANK BUT WOULD NOT START. AFTER TOWING TO SHOP FOR REPAIR IT STARTS OK BUT SPEEDOMETER SHOWS DASHES AFTER THE TURN ON LIGHT TEST. IF THIS HAD HAPPENED WHEN I HAD PULLED OUT IN TRAFFIC I WOULD BE DEAD. *NM

2000 FORD F150 CAUGHT ON FIRE AFTER START UP.*MR IT WAS LATER DETERMINED THAT AN ELECTRIC MODULE ON THE MASTER CYLINDER WAS THE CAUSE. *NM
2000 FORD F150 CAUGHT ON FIRE WHILE PARKED.*MR THE FIRE WAS THE RESULT OF A FAULTY CRUISE CONTROL DEACTIVATION SWITCH. *JB
DT: THE CONTACT STATED THE FRONT SEAT BELT RETRACTOR QUIT WORKING WITHOUT ANY PREVIOUS PROBLEMS. THE SEAT BELT WILL RETRACT AND NOT GIVE ANY SLACK. HE UNBOLTED THE SEAT BELT FITTING FROM THE FLOOR TO ALLOW THE STRAP TO GO IN FURTHER. THE STRAP CAME OUT, BUT SUBSEQUENTLY THE SAME THING HAPPENED AS BEFORE. THIS DID NOT CORRECT THE PROBLEM. HE BOLTED BACK THE SEAT BELT FITTING. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT SEEN BY A DEALER. NO FURTHER REPAIRS OR CORRECTIONS WERE MADE. *AK UPDATED 11/29/05. *JB
WELL I GOT SUCKERED OCT 4 2003 INTO A 2000 F-150 W/52,000 MILES . MY LOVELY TRUCK WAS DOING GREAT UNTIL SEPT 2004 AND THEN MY TRANNY WENT OUT. JUST BLEW OUT. WELL $1400 DOLLARS AND A LOT OF (I MEAN A LOT) OF MONEY AND TIME LATER (NOV 2004) I GOT IT FIXED (HAPPY TIMES RIGHT?). DAD, ME SOME BUDDIES PUT THE TRANNY IN. SO I AM DOING GREAT AND THEN I STARTED TO SMELL ANTI FREEZE AND WELL SOME TIME LATER IN AUG 2005 IT STARTED A STEEM SHOP OUT THE EXHAUST. WATER, ANTI FREEZE AND OIL THAT IS WHAT IS WAS. LOOKED LIKE HEAD GASKET OR HEAD MIGHT BE CRAKED SO GOT NEW GASKET SET AND GOT HEADS TESTED AND RESHAPED AND NEW HEAD BOLTS.($400 LATER) WELL I FINALY GOT TO GETTING IT BACK TOGETHER AND IT IS STILL SMOKING (TODAY IN DEC 2005). SO SOMETHING BAD IS WRONG MAYBE BLOCK IS CRAKED. I DONT KNOW BUT I AM VERY MAD I OWE $12,000 ON IT.
30,000 MILES MOTOR STARTED KNOCKING, SPUN A BEARING, HAD MOTOR REPAIRED NOW MOTOR IS KNOCKING AGAIN. FORD MOTOR AND DEALERSHIP DENIED ANY RESPONSABILITY
DT: CALLER SAID THAT AFTER SITTING FOR 3 HOURS VEHICLE CAUGHT FIRE UNDER THE HOOD. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT PUT THE FIRE OUT. A REPORT WAS FILED BY THE FIRE DEPARTMENT. DEALER SAID TO CALL INSURANCE COMPANY. CALLER WAS WAITING FOR MANUFACTURER TO CALL HIM BACK. CALLER SAID HIS YARD, DRIVEWAY AND A STORAGE TRAILER HAS FIRE DAMAGE.*AK
FORD F-150 RECALL ON CRUISE CONTROL DEACTIVATION SWITCH. RECALL RESULTED IN A FIRE AND TOTAL LOSS OF MY TRUCK. *NM
2000 FORD F150 SHUT DOWN IN THE MIDDLE OF A TURN.***NO ANSWER REQUIRED***. *MR THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN TAKEN TO THE DEALER THREE TIMES. EACH TIME THE REPAIR/REPLACE A COMPONENT BUT THE PROBLEM RECURS. THE LAST TIME THE VEHICLE WAS AT THE DEALER THEY REWIRED CERTAIN ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS. *NM
WHILE DRIVING 2000 F250 SUPERDUTY FORD PICK UP, TIRE CAME APART AT 65 MPH. STOCK ALUMINUM WHEEL DISTROYED. PROBLEM IS THE JACK BROKE WHILE TRYING TO CHANGE TIRE. SECOND TIME USED. FORD DEALER SAID JACK NOT ANY GOOD AND NOT WARRENED. I CAN FORSEE THAT A PERSON HURT USEING JACK.
AS I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD I LOST CONTROL OF MY VEHICLE. I WAS TRAVELING APROXIMATLY 30MPH WHEN MY TRUCK STARTED SHAKING AND VEERED OFF THE ROAD. I WAS ABLE TO STOP BEFORE ANY DAMAGE OCCURED. BEING MECHANICALY INCLINED I INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND NOTICED THE DRIVERS SIDE TIE ROD END HAD SEPERATED. THIS SURPRISED ME IN THAT THE TRUCK ONLY HAD 60K MILES. I BELIEVE THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE SINCE THERE WAS NO OBVIOUS INDICATION THAT THE TIE ROD END WAS EVEN BAD.
DT: THE CONSUMER STATED THAT GAS WAS LEAKING ON 2000 FORD F150. CONSUMER WAS SMELLING GAS, AND FINALLY TOOK THE VEHICLE TO TO HAVE IT CHECKED ABOUT A WEEK LATER. THE DEALERSHIP INSPECTED THE TRUCK AND FOUND THE LEAK. THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE GAS TANK. THERE WERE NO RECALLS ON THE TRUCK. THE TRUCK WAS FINE ONCE THE NEW GAS TANK WAS INSTALLED. THE OWNER CALLED FORD, AND THEY SAID THAT THERE WAS NO RECALLS ON THE TRUCK. *AK
I OWN A 2000 F150 SUPERCAB WITH THE 5.4L V8 TRITON GASOLINE ENGINE. THIS TRUCK ABS BEEN METICULOUSLY MAINTAINED. ON SUN 17 JULY 2005, WHILE DRIVING WITH MY WIFE AND ONE OF MY SONS, I EXPERIENCED WHAT I LATER FOUND OUT TO BE THE SPARK PLUG BEING BLOWN-OUT OF THE #3 CYLINDER JUST AS WE WERE TRYING TO MERGE ONTO A BUSY HIGHWAY--WE WERE LUCKY TO MAKE IT TO A BREAKDOWN LANE WITHOUT INJURIES. I OPTED FOR THE "HELI-COIL" REPAIR METHOD BASED UPON THE DESCRIBED SUCCESS RATE. ON WED 28 SEP 2005 I BROKE DOWN ON MY WAY TO WORK AFTER THE SPARK PLUG ON #4 BLEW-OUT. THE LOCAL DEALER EXPLAINED THAT FORD HAS A NEW DESIGN FOR THE CYLINDER HEAD BUT THIS REPAIR WAS ESTIMATED AT NEARLY THE SAME COST AS A LONG BLOCK REPLACEMENT WHICH I ULTIMATELY OPTED FOR. THE LOCAL DEALER EXPLAINED THAT THEY DIDN'T BELIEVE FORD WOULD COVER THE COST OF THESE REPAIRS (OR EVEN HELP WITH THE COST) BECAUSE THEY DON'T VIEW THIS AS A "DESIGN PROBLEM" AS I DO. AFTER REPEATED ATTEMPTS TO TRY TO PERSUADE FORD THROUGH THEIR CUSTOMER CARE CENTER WHERE I WAS FLATLY TURNED DOWN I HAD TO PAY FOR THE REPAIR MYSELF. *NM
2000 FORD F150 DIGITAL ODOMETER LIGHT WAS NOT WORKING PROPERLY.*MR THE CONSUMER WAS INFORMED BY THE DEALER THAT THE ENTIRE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. *NM
DT: THE CONTACT STATED ON 7-12-05 2000 FORD F150 CAUGHT ON FIRE. IT WAS LOCATED IN FRONT OF THE CONTACT'S HOUSE. THE FIRE ORIGINATED UNDER THE HOOD ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT AGREED THAT ORIGINATED UNDER THE HOOD. FORD TOLD THE CONTACT TO TAKE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER. THE DEALER SAID THE VEHICLE WAS SO BURNED THAT THEY COULD NOT TELL WHAT HAPPENED. THEN THE DEALER SAID IT DID NOT LOOK LIKE THE VEHICLE WAS BURNED ENOUGH TO DETERMINE THAT THE CAUSE WAS THE SCDS. THE CONTACT RECEIVED A RECALL LETTER IN AUGUST 05. THE CONTACT REPORTED HAVING NO PROBLEMS WITH THE CAR. PRIOR TO THIS, THE CALLER REPORTED HAVING NO PROBLEMS WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL. HE NOTICED THAT RIGHT SIGNAL LIGHT FUSE KEPT BLOWING AND HE HAD TO REPLACE IT OFTEN. THE POLICE DID VISIT THE SCENE BUT DID NOT MAKE A REPORT.*AK
DT: HAD PROBLEMS IN PAST WITH TIE ROD ENDS AND WAS UNABLE TO KEEP GREASE ON THEM. CONSUMER WAS AT CHURCH AND BEGAN TO LEAVE, AND THERE WAS A POPPING NOISE. AFTER TURNING THE WHEEL FOLLOWED BY A DRAGGING-THIS WAS LATER A PIECE OF TIE ROD END. THIS OCCURRED ON THE RIGHT SIDE, AND BEFORE THE MILEAGE HAD ACCUMULATED TO 20,000 .THIS OCCURRED ABOUT A YEAR AND A HALF AGO. THIS WAS REPAIRED BY CONSUMER'S HUSBAND. THIS 4TH OF JULY WEEKEND, WAS EXITING PARKING LOT ONTO STREET AND HEARD ANOTHER POPPING NOISE. ALMOST LOST CONTROL OF TRUCK BUT WAS ABLE TO MAKE IT OFF THE ROAD. CALLED HUSBAND WHO WAS A MECHANIC, HE CAME AND REPAIRED VEHICLE. THIS OCCURRED ON THE LEFT SIDE. THE PARTS FOR THE F150 TIE ROD ENDS WERE UNABLE TO PACK GREASE WHICH CAUSES THIS FAILURE. HAS CONTACTED FORD FOR THE FIRST INCIDENT. THE SECOND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS JUST OVER 50,000 MILES. *AK

DT: THE CONSUMER STATES THAT THE CRUISE CONTROL SWITCH LEAKED BRAKE FLUID BACK UP THROUGH THE CONTROLS ON THE TOP OF THE STEERING COLUMN AT THE FLASHERS. AS A RESULT IT SHORTED THE CONTROLS OUT. THE CONSUMER HAD THE CRUISE CONTROL MODULE TAKEN OUT BY THE DEALERSHIP. THE CONSUMER NOTICED OIL AT THE FLASHERS ABOUT 3 OR 4 WEEKS AGO, AND DID NOT KNOW WHAT IT WAS. THE CONSUMER HAD NO TURN SIGNALS OR BRAKE LIGHTS, AND THAT IS WHEN HE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP. THE DEALERSHIP CHECKED FOR RECALL AND DID NOT FIND ANY RECALLS ON THE TRUCK. CONSUMER WAS INFORMED THAT THE SAME SWITCH WAS IN HIS VEHICLE THAT WAS BEING RECALLED ON OTHER TRUCKS. THE CONSUMER HAS HAD SENSOR PROBLEMS WITH THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON THE DASHBOARD. THIS HAS BEEN REPLACED TWICE. THE VEHICLE IS REGULARLY MAINTAINED. THE CONSUMER HAS NOT CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURER. THE CONSUMER IS WRITING FORD AND THE ATTORNEY GENERAL A LETTER INFORMING THEM FAULTY DEFECTS IN THESE VEHICLES. *AKTHE CONSUMER WOULD LIKE TO SEE SOMEBODY DO SOMETHING FOR A CHANGE FOR THE COMMON MAN. THE CONSUMER WAS TOLD BY A MECHANIC IF HE WOULD HAVE REPLACED THE FUSE, THE CONSUMERS TRUCK WOULD HAVE BURNT DOWN.*AK *JB
DROVE TRUCK TO TOWN FOR GROCERIES, CAME HOME PARKED TRUCK. WITHIN 20 MINTUES FLAMES WERE COMING FROM INSIDE BEHIND DRIVERS SEAT. FIRE BURNED THROUGH PORT HOLE INTO BED OF TRUCK. FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS CALLED. TRUCK WAS A TOTAL LOSS. WONDERING IF CURISE CONTROL COULD HAVE CAUSED OTHER COMPONENTS TO SHORT AND START FIRE OR IF THERE ARE OTHER PROBLEMS WITH WIRING ON THIS MODEL. THIS TRUCK WAS WELL MAINTAINED AND WAS COMPLETELY STOCK.
DT: CONSUMER STATES ON 6-28-05 TRUCK BURNED COMPLETELY. SHE RECEIVED A RECALL LETTER ON 6-25-05 BUT NEVER TOOK THE TRUCK TO DEALER. THE FIRE ORIGINATED UNDER THE HOOD. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT. INVESTIGATED THE FIRE WITH AN UNDETERMINED CAUSE NOTED. THE TRUCK WAS SITTING STILL. SHE TALKED TO FORD BUT NOT TO THE DEALER. SHE DID NOT CONTACT ANYONE ON 6-25-05 WHEN SHE RECEIVED THE RECALL LETTER.*AK
OUR 2000 FORD 150, VIN [XXX], CAUGHT FIRE AFTER OUR SUPERVISOR PARKED THE VEHICLE WHEN HE WAS CHECKING ON CREWS, IT IS DUE TO THE CRUISE CONTROL SWITCH. FORD SAID THEY SENT US TWO RECALL LETTERS, BUT WE NEVER RECEIVED THEM AND THEY CAN NOT PROVE THAT THEY SENT THEM, THEY SENT US COMPUTER GENERATED GENERIC FORMS SHOWING DATES THAT THEY COULD HAVE TYPED IN AFTER THE FIRE SO THEY WOULDN'T HAVE TO PAY. ANYWAY WE PURCHASED THE VEHICLE IN MID-JANUARY AND THEY SAY THEY SENT US OUR FIRST RECALL LETTER IN FEBRUARY, THEY WOULD NOT HAVE HAD OUR INFORMATION THAT FAST. ANYWAY, OUR INSURANCE PAID FOR THE REPAIRS LESS OUR DEDUCTIBLE. I HAVE WRITTEN TO WILLIAM C FORD, HE DIDN'T REPLY BUT WE RECEIVED A POSTCARD ASKING US TO CALL THE CUSTOMER SERVICE DEPARTMENT WHICH WE DID, THEY STILL DENIED TO PAY FOR THE REPAIRS. NOW WE SEE THAT THERE IS A RECALL OF OVER 3.8 MILLION VEHICLES INCLUDING THE 2000 FORD 150, WE ALSO UNDERSTAND THAT THE ONES THAT HAVE BEEN REPAIRED CAN CATCH FIRE AGAIN. SUNDAY MORNING JUNE 26 1:30AM, I HEARD AN EXPLOSION. LOOKING OUT TO SEE MY 2000 FORD F150 ENGULFED IN FLAMES. THE EXPLOSION WAS THE DRIVERS FRONT TIRE EXPLODING FROM THE HEAT. AFTER THE FIRE DEPARTMENT PUT THE FIRE OUT, THE FIRE MARSHAL WAS INVESTIGATING AND TOLD ME IT WAS A FAULTY CRUISE CONTROL SWITCH THAT FORD HAS A RECALL FOR THAT WAS THE IGNITION POINT. I CALLED FORD AND WAS TOLD THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO FOR ME SINCE THEY HAD MY CORRECT ADDRESS AND THE RECALL NOTICES WERE SENT AND NOT RETURNED TO THEM. I TOLD FORD I DID NOT RECEIVE THE RECALL NOTICES.
ON JUNE 26 2005 AROUND 8:15 PM MY 2000 FORD 150 HAD A UNDER HOOD FIRE THAT WAS LATER DETERMINED TO BE CAUSED BY THE CRUISE CONTROL SWITCH. THE TRUCK WAS DEEMED TOTALED BY PROGRESSIVE THE NEXT DAY. I CALLED FORD AND THEY SAID TO CALL MY INSURANCE CO.
LAST NIGHT, I WAS MAKING A LEFT HAND TURN INTO A PARKING LOT WHEN I LOST CONTROL OF THE STEERING IN MY VEHICLE. LUCKILY, THE ONCOMING TRAFFIC WAS ABLE TO MANUVER AROUND ME, AND I JUST MISSED A UTILITY POLE. I FOUND THE INNER LEFT TIE ROD HAD COMPLETELY SEPARATED. I HAVE SERARCHED THE INTERNET AND FOUND NUMEROUS REPORTS AND COMPLAINTS OF THE SAME ISSUE, AND EVEN A PENDING CLASS-ACTION SUIT. I WILL BE REPLAING NOT ONLY THE BROKEN TIE ROD, BUT THE OTHERS AS WELL.

DT: CONTACT STATES FORD F150 CAUGHT ON FIRE ON 06-17-2005. TRUCK HAS BEEN AT DEALER FOR TWO WEEKS. THE DAMAGE WAS $7,514.00, AND MORE WORK MAY BE NEEDED. CONSUMER WORKS FOR A DELIVERY COMPANY AND THIS TRUCK WAS HIS WORK TRUCK. CURRENTLY, HE HAS BEEN OUT OF WORK FOR 1 WEEK AND 2 DAYS. HE ASKED FOR A RENTAL VEHICLE AND THEY REFUSED. TO GIV EHIM ONE. *AK
INCIDENT INVOLVED A GOODYEAR WRANGLER AT/S TIRE. SIZE: P265/70R17 113S. MOUNTED ON LEFT REAR ON A FORD F-150 TRUCK. AT 70MPH ON I-81 SOUTH OF MARTINSBURG, WV THE TIRE BLEW OUT WITH AN EXPLOSIVE BANG THAT LIFTED THE BACK END OF THE TRUCK INTO THE AIR. TRUCK WAS STOPPED WITHOUT INCIDENT OR INJURY. NO ROAD DEBRIS WERE NOTED PRIOR TO THE BLOW OUT. TIRES HAD LESS THAN 10,000 MILEAGE. PLEASE NOTE YOUR DROP DOWN MENU DID NOT OFFER THE CORRECT TIRE SIZE. TIRE SIZE IS CORRECT IN THIS NARRATIVE.
DT:THE CONTACT STATED SHE HAD A PROBLEM WITH THE UPPER BALL JOINTS. WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS THE FRONT END SHIMMIED. ALSO, THERE WAS EXCESSIVE TIRE WEAR. SHE CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURER, AND THERE WERE *AK NO RECALLS ON THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED.

DT: CONSUMER TOOK THE VEHICLE TO DEALER TO BE ALIGNED, AND WAS TOLD THE FRONT BALL JOINTS WERE OUT AND WERE REPLACED. TOOK VEHICLE O ANOTHER SERVICE DEPARTMENT AND WAS TOLD THAT RACK AND PINION WORE OUT IN THE STEERING BOX. CONSUMER HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE STEERING AND HEARD A POPPING AND CRACKING.*AK
ABS WARNING LIGHT CAME ON. DIAGNOSIS WAS FAULTY HYDRAULLIC CONTROL UNIT. SINCE IT OCCURED AT 61,615 MILES AND STILL ON ORIGINAL BRAKE PADS/LININGS AND TIRES I FEEL FAILURE WAS PREMATURE. HAPPENED SHORTLY AFTER RECAL FOR SPEED CONTOL DISTURBED BRAKE SYSTEM. REPAIR COST FOR DIAGNOSIS AND EXTIMATE FOR REPAIR $475+ SO REPAIRS HAVE NOT YET BEEN DONE.

OUR FORD F-150 YEAR 2000 STARTED FIRE UNDER THE HOOD, WHILE WE WERE SLEEPING. THE TRUCK WAS PARKED IN THE DIVEWAY AT ABOUT 12:00 THE NIGHT BEFORE AND THE FIRE STARTED AT ABOUT 6:30-7:00 THE NEXT MOURNING. THE TRUCK WAS BURNT TO THE GROUND, IT TOTALED MY VEHICLE THAT WAS NEXT TO IT AND IT DAMAGED OUR HOME. IF SOMEONE HADN'T NOTICED THE FIRE ON THEIR WAY TO WORK AND WOKEN US UP WE WOULD HAVE LOST OUR HOME AND MAYBE EVEN OUR LIVES. THE INVESTIGATOR THAT WAS SEN'T TO OUR HOUSE TO INVESTIGATE THE VEHICLE IS CONFIDENT THAT THIS IS RELATED TO THE CRUISE CONTROL SWITCH. THE TRUCK WAS STANDING STILL UNOCCUPIED TURNED OFF FOR ATLEAST 6 HOURS BEFORE IT WEN'T UP IN FLAMES.WHEN WE CAME OUT OF THE HOUSE THE WHOLE HOOD WAS ON FIRE, BY THE TIME THE FIREMEN CAME THE WHOLE TRUCK WAS BURNED AND IT STARTED ON THE HOUSE. THE FIREMEN AT THE SEEN TOLD US THAT NOTHING LOOKED CRIMINAL AND THEY BELIEVE THE FIRE STARTED UNDER THE HOOD. THEIR IS NO DOUBT IN MY MIND THAT THIS FIRE OCCURED BECAUSE OF THE CRUISE VCONTROL RECALL.
DT:CONTACT S RECEIVED A RECALL LETTER ON 5-30-05 CONCERNING CRUISE CONTROL SWITCH. ON 6-1-05 THE TRUCK CAUGHT ON FIRE IN THE DRIVEWAY. IT ORIGINATED FROM UNDER THE HOOD. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT CAME AND THE TRUCK WAS GUTTED. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT ISSUED A REPORT AND IT WAS SENT TO THE INSURANCE DEPARTMENT. CALLER FELT THAT IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN INDICATED ON THE LETTER THAT SOMETHING SERIOUS AS HOUSE POSSIBLY CATCHING ON FIRE. THE DEALER SAID THAT CALLER COULD PAY TO HAVE THE TRUCK TOWED TO ONE OF THE DEALERSHIPS, AND THEY WOULD GIVE HER WHAT THEY THOUGHT THE TRUCK WAS WORTH. THEY OFFERED HER $3,500.00 FOR THE VEHICLE. SHE DID NOT NOTICE ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE TRUCK PRIOR TO THIS.*AK
MY BRAKES FAILED AND WHEN I STOPPED MY TRUCK (FORD 2000 F150), THE BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER WAS ON FIRE. I PUT THE FIRE OUT AND HAD THE TRUCK TOWED TO A FORD DEALER. I HAD RECIEVED A RECALL NOTICE A FEW DAYS PRIOR FROM FORD REGARDING ENGINE FIRES RESULTING FROM FAULTY SPEED CONTROL SWITCHES. THE DEALER CONFIRMED THAT IT WAS INDEED THE SPEED CONTROL SWITCH THAT STARTED THE FIRE. WHEN I CALLED FORD TO DISCUSS THE ISSUE THEY STATED THAT THEY HAD SENT TWO RECALL NOTICES AND THAT IT WAS BASICALLY MY FAULT MY TRUCK CAUGHT FIRE. I HAVE TWO ISSUES WITH THIS: I ONLY RECIEVED ONE NOTICE AND THAT WAS ON OR ABOUT THE TIME OF THE FIRE, AND IT IS LUDICROUS TO ASSUME THAT ON A FIVE YEAR OLD VEHICLE THIS PROBLEM HAD SUDDENLY OCCURRED AND THAT THIS IS MY FAULT FOR NOT BRINGING THE TRUCK TO THE DEALER WITHIN DAYS OF RECIEVING THE RECALL NOTICE, RATHER THAN FORD'S FAULT FOR NOT IDENTIFYING THIS PROBLEM IN LESS THAN FIVE YEARS. TOTAL COST OF REPAIRS WAS $4814 PLUS CAR RENTAL COSTS OF APPROXIMATELY $150.

2000 FORD F150 LEAKING AROUND DRIVER SIDE WINDSHIELD WIPER AREA. WATER LEAKS DOWN INSIDE FIREWALL INTO A RELAY/CONTROL TERMINAL AND ACTIVATES THE IGNITION AND SECURITY SYSTEM. NORMALLY THIS DRAINS THE BATTERY AND DEACTIVATES THE IGNITION UNTIL THE UNIT DRIES OUT. THIS ONLY OCCURS DURING HEAVY RAIN.
WE HAD ARRIVED HOME FROM WORK ABOUT 3:30 ON MAY 23, 2005. WE WENT INTO THE HOUSE AND WERE WATCHING TV AND PLAYING GAMES. MY DAUGHTER WAS IN THE BACK ROOM WITH MY SON. THEY WERE PLAYING UNO WHEN SHE HAD A POPPING NOISE. SHE LOOKED OUT THE WINDOW, IT WAS NOW 4:50PM, AND OUR TRUCK WAS ON FIRE UNDER THE HOOD. WE IMMEDIATELY GOT OUT OF THE HOUSE AND CALLED 911. THEY RESPONDED WITHIN A FEW MINUTES. HAD IT NOT BEEN FOR MY CHILDREN PLAYING IN THE BACK ROOM WE NEVER WOULD HAVE KNOWN UNTIL IT WAS TOO LATE!! LUCKILY, OUR HOME WAS ONLY SLIGHTLY DAMAGED ON THE OUTSIDE. HOWEVER, THE TRUCK IS A TOTAL LOSS. THERE IS NOTHING LEFT BUT THE BED AND THE BACK TWO TIRES. WE IMMEDIATELY CONTACTED FORD. I WAITED THE 3-5 DAYS AND WAS NOT CONTACTED BY ANYONE. WHEN I CALLED AGAIN, I WAS TOLD THAT SINCE IT WENT PASSED THE TIME LIMIT THAT THEY WERE FILING A "LEGITIMATE COMPLAINT" ON MY BEHALF AND THAT I WOULD BE CONTACTED SOON. I CALLED AGAIN AFTER A FEW 2-3 DAYS AND THEY SAID THEY HAD MY COMPLAINT AND THAT SOMEONE WOULD BE CONTACTING ME AND THERE WAS NOTHING MORE THEY COULD DO. I THEN REQUESTED THAT IT BE SENT TO A SUPERVISOR. IT WAS DONE AND WE STILL HAVE NOT HEARD FROM FORD AT ALL. IT IS NOW BEEN ALMOST, 2 DAYS SHORT, A MONTH. I HAVE NO WAY TO GET TO WORK. WE ONLY HAVE ONE VEHICLE NOW AND IT IS CLEAR TO ME THAT FORD DOES NOT CARE ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMERS. EVERY VEHICLE I HAVE OWNED HAS BEEN BOUGHT FROM FORD. NO MORE!! AND I AM TELLING ALL OUR FRIENDS AND FAMILY THE SAME. THEY SHOULD NOT BUY FROM FORD BECAUSE THEY ONLY CARE ABOUT THEIR SATISFIED CUSTOMERS. IF YOU HAVE A PROBLEM THEY WILL NOT RESPOND AT ALL. THEY WILL PUT YOU OFF. THIS SITUATION IS NOW CAUSING US TO CONTINUE TO SUFFER A MONTH AFTER IT HAPPENED. THAT IS UNCALLED FOR AND NEGLIGENT ON THEIR PART. I ALSO HAVE MEDICAL CONDITION THAT MAKES IT NECESSARY FOR ME TO GET A MONTHLY IV. IF I CAN NOT GET TO WORK THEN I DON'T HAVE INSURANCE AND I COULD DIE FROM THIS CONDITION.
DT: 2000, FORD, F150 XLT, CRUISE CONTROL WITHOUT THE KEYS IN THE IGNITION CAUSED VEHICLE TO CATCH ON FIRE. NO PRIOR PROBLEMS BEFORE. JUST FOUND OUT THAT FORD HAD A RECALL ON THE VEHICLE, WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF A RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED AND TURNED OFF. THIS WAS DURING THE NIGHT. VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN THE OWNER'S GARAGE. THE MAINTENANCE RECORDS WERE KEPT UP TO DATE. OWNER WAS ASLEEP WHEN THIS HAPPENED. THERE WAS NO INDICATION THAT THERE COULD BE A PROBLEM. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. VEHICLE WAS TOTALED. THIS HAPPENED ON 6-16-2005. OWNERS HAD CONTACTED FORD, WHO HAD NOT RESPONDED. BUT THEY DID SAY THAT SOME ONE WOULD BE IN CONTACT WITH CONSUMER IN 3-5 DAYS. THERE WAS OTHER PROPERTY DAMAGE INVOLVED. A POLICE REPORT WAS ISSUED STATING THAT THE FIRE WAS ELECTRICAL, BECAUSE THEY DIDN'T SEE ANY SIGNS OF FOUL PLAY. *AK
