DT: DROVE TRUCK ON SATURDAY MORNING, IT SAT FOR 9 HOURS, AND IT STARTED TO CATCH ON FIRE: THE ENGINE TRIED TO START, THE LIGHTS AND RADIO CAME ON. BUSINESS MERCHANDISE AND TOOLS THAT WERE IN THE TRUCK WAS ALSO LOST. DID NOT HAVE ANY PROBLEMS PRIOR TO THE FIRE. *TT
WHILE DRIVNG TO WORK ODMETER DIGITAL MILEAGE DISPLAY FADS OUT ALONG WITH DIGITAL DISPALY ON RADIO. POWER SIDE VIEW MIRRORS NO LONGER WORK ON BOTH SIDE. NOR DOES THE POWER DOOR LOCKS. HAVE NOT TAKE IN YET FOR REPAIRS. AWAITING RESPONSE FROM FORD DEALERSHIP.
LEFT & RIGHT OUTER TIE ROD END FAILURE 2000 FORD F150 SC 2 WD
DT: THE CONTACT STATES LEFT FRONT TIE RODS SEPARATED. HE WAS GOING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH. THEY BOTH HAD TO BE CHANGED. THIS HAPPENED ON MAY 9-05. HE LOST CONTROL OF THE STEERING ON 5-9-05. HE HAD NOTICED THAT THE STEERING WAS WANDERING PRIOR TO THIS INCIDENT. THE DEALER TOLD HIM THE ALIGNMENT WAS PERFECT; THEY HAD USED A NEW MACHINE TO DETERMINE IF THE ALIGNMENT WAS CORRECT. *AK
SHORTLY AFTER MY RECALL THE SWITCH SHORTED OUT, I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO VELDE FORD IN VERO BEACH FLORIDA, THEY CLAIM THEY REPLACED THE PARTS REQUIRED FOR THE RECALL AND MY CRUISE CONTROL STILL WASN'T BACK TO BEING OPERATIONAL (WHICH IT WAS PRIOR TO THE FIRE) AND CHARGED ME 246.78 PLUS TAX TO DO THE REPAIR. THEY CLAIM IT WAS UNRELATED. *JB
WATER LEAKING THROUGH WINDSHIELD INTO ELECTRONIC SYSTEM (GEM MODULE). THIS HAS CAUSED VEHICLE TO HAVE PROBLEMS WITH THE FOLLOWING DURING RAINY WEATHER, AND SOMETIMES LONGER, EVEN IN BEAUTIFUL WEATHER. WIPERS QUIT WORKING DURING RAINY WEATHER WHILE DRIVING DOWN HIGHWAY IN THE MIDDLE OF RAIN STORM. HEAD LIGHTS, PARKING LIGHTS AND HIGH BEAMS DON'T WORK AT ALL IN RAIN. INTERIOR LIGHTS INCLUDING DASH BOARD LIGHTS QUIT WORKING. HEAD LIGHTS AND WIPERS ALL QUIT WORKING IF RADIO IS TURNED ON. REMOTE KEYLESS ENTRY WON'T WORK. 4 X4 WON'T TRANSFER IF USED, STAYS IN ONE GEAR AND GETS STUCK, WHICH I AM SURE IS CAUSING DAMAGE TO TRANSMISSION. TWO DAYS AFTER A RAIN STORM, MY EXPEDITION WAS OUTSIDE TRYING TO START ITSELF. I WAS INSIDE WHEN I HEARD THE NOISE. IT WAS LIKE SOMEONE WAS OVER STARTING THEIR VEHICLE. IT WAS THAT GRINDING SOUND OF THE STARTER BEING OVER TURNED. WHEN I WENT OUT SIDE TO MY DISBELIEF IT WAS MY EXPEDITION!
CONTACT STATES: HE HAS REPLACED ABOUT 4 RADIATORS IN THE LAST YEAR AND A HALF.THEY HAVE BEEN LEAKING. HE HAS ASKED IF THERE ARE ANY DEFECTS IN THEM AND HAS BEEN TOLD THERE WASN'T ANY. *AK
DT: CONSUMER HAD A 2000 FORD F150 THAT WAS PART OF NHTSA RECALL CAMPAIGN 05V017000. CONSUMER CALLED MANUFACTURER WITH VIN, AND WAS TOLD VEHICLE WAS PART OF THE RECALL, BUT THEY REFUSED TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. ON MAY 4, 2005 THE VEHICLE EXPLODED. CONSUMER DIDN'T KNOW ABOUT RECALL UNTIL AFTER THE EXPLOSION. DEALERSHIP SAID THAT A FORD INVESTIGATOR INSPECTED THE TRUCK, AND THE CORPORATE OFFICE STATED THAT AN INVESTIGATOR WOULDN'T INSPECT THE VEHICLE BECAUSE THE CAUSE OF THE FIRE COULDN'T BE DETERMINED. CONSUMER OBTAINED HER OWN FORENSIC INVESTIGATOR, AND WAS TOLD THE FIRE WAS DUE TO THE CRUISE CONTROL DEACTIVATION SWITCH. NOT REPORTED TO THE POLICE, BUT THERE WAS A FIRE REPORT.*AK
AT 102,000 MILES THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM LIGHT CAME ON. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE FORD DEALER AND HE SAID THE WHOLE ANTI-LOCK SYSTEM HAD CORRODED AND WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED TO THE TUNE OF $1000. THIS WAS JUST AFTER FORD HAD FIXED BALL JOINTS AND COMPLETELY RUSTED EMAERGENCY BRAKE CABLES UNDER EXTENDED WARRANTY AT 99,900 MILES.
SEVERE SMELL OF ANTIFREEZE IN CABIN OF TRUCK. "MIST" FROM THE VENTS. MUST RUN WITH WINDOWS OPEN AND STILL SMELL AND TASTE ANTIFREEZE. CERTIFIED FORD DEALERSHIP WAS ABLE TO FIND NOTHING WRONG. HAS BEEN LIKE THIS FOR 2 YEARS. *NM

THE CONSUMER RECEIVE A RECALL NOTICE(05V017000) CRUISE CONTROL DEACTIVATION SWITCH. NO PARTS AVAILABLE. *NM
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH, THE DRIVER SIDE TIRE STARTED BOUNCING. THE VEHICLE WAS PULLED OVER AND TOWED TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE WERE IT WAS REPAIRED BY A FAMILY MEMBER. THE INNER TIE ROD WAS REPLACED ON THE DRIVER SIDE. ALSO, WHILE PULLING INTO A PARKING SPACE AT LESS THAN 5 MPH, THE PASSENGER SIDE TIRE DID NOT RESPOND TO THE STEERING WHEEL. THE VEHICLE WAS AGAIN TOWED TO THE RESIDENCE AND THE PASSENGER SIDE INNER TIE ROD WAS REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER HAS BEEN ALERTED.
2000 FORD F150 STARTED DOWNSHIFTING WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND THE OVER DRIVE LIGHT CAME ON.*MR THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A SERVICE STATION WHO DETERMINED THAT THE TRANSMISSION FAILED. *NM
THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED APPROXIMATELY FOUR HOURS, WHEN THE CONSUMER WAS NOTIFIED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS ON FIRE. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS CALLED TO PUT THE FIRE OUT, HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. *NM
WHEN I ARRIVED BACK TO MY VEHICLE, EVERYTHING FROM THE ENGINE TO THE DASHBOARD WAS COMPLETLY BURNT. WHAT A SURPRISE WHEN YOU COME BACK FROM DINNER. I SPOE TO THE WITNESS WHO MADE THE 911 CALL. SHE STATED THAT SHE HEARD A POPPING NOISE, BUT IGNORED IT UNTIL SHE GOT TO HER DOOR AND HEARD THE NOISE AGAIN. SHE STATED THAT WHEN SHE TURNED AND LOOKED, SHE SAW SPARKS COMING FROM THE FRONT GRILL, SO SHE WENT INSIDE TO CALL THE POLICE. THE WITNESS STATED THAT AS SHE WAS ON THE PHONE WITH THE POLICE, SHE LOOKED OUT OF THE WINDOW, TO DISCOVER THERE WERE FLAMES TO THE 3RD FLOOR OF THE APARTMENT BUILDING. MY TRUCK HAD NOT BEEN DRIVEN IN HOURS, AND THE LAST TIME THAT IT WAS DRIVEN, IT WAS TO THE STORE ON THE CORNER. THERE WAS NO ENGINE NOISE,CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS ON IN THE DASH, OR ANY SIGNS THAT MY TRUCK WOULD GO UP IN FLAMES.
CONTACTS STATED: HE WAS IN A DOUBLE LANE WHEN THE TIRE AND AXLE BROKE OFF. DEALER SAID IT WAS A FACTORY DEFECT. IN 32 YEARS HE HAD NEVER SEEN A BREAK LIKE THAT. THE INSURANCE COMPANY SAID IT WAS THEIR RESPONSIBILITY.*AK
DRIVER APPLIED THE PARKING BRAKE AND THE PARKING BRAKE FAILED. DRIVER TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER, AND MECHANIC DETERMINED THAT THE PARKING BRAKE MECHANISM NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. *AK
THE CONSUMER STATED A DEFECTIVE FUEL PUMP CAUSED THE VEHICLE NOT TO START. *AK
I WAS DRIVING OUR FORD EXPEDITION AND I STOPPED AT A LIGHT. WHEN THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN I BEGAN TO ACCELERATE AND I HEARD A POP FROM THE ENGINE. THE TRUCK IMMEDIATELY BEGAN TO RIDE VERY ROUGHLY, AND WE SMELLED GAS AS WE PULL THE TRUCK TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD.
SMELLED SMOKE AFTER IGNITION. FOUND ELECTRICAL FIRE AFTER OPENING UP THE HOOD AT A SERVICE STATION. THE ATTENDANT QUICKLY EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE. TOWED THE CAR TO PREMIER FORD. OUR INSURANCE ADJUSTER FROM TSC DIRECT INSPECTED MY VEHICLE. HIS REPORT WAS THAT THERE OIL DRIPPING FROM A DEFECTIVE MASTER CYLINDER THAT CAUSED THE WIRING TO HEAT UP. THUS, CAUSING THE FIRE. WE THINK THAT FORD SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE BECAUSE THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE THAT COULD WARRANT A RECALL. HOWEVER, THEY DENY THE CLAIM BECAUSE WE ARE OVER THE 3-YEAR WARRANTY. THIS SHOULD NOT MAKE A DIFFERENCE. THIS IS A DANGEROUS SITUATION. THEREFORE, WE SHOULD BE REIMBURSED FOR THE FULL COST OF THE JOB, LABOR AND TOWING EXPENSES.*AK
I HEARD A LITTLE TAP THOUGHT MAYBE IT COULD BE AN EXHAUST LEAK THEN A DAY LATTER MY TRUCK SOUNDED LIKE A LAWN MOWER. A SPARK PLUG CAME OUT TOOK IT TO THE SHOP HAD TO REPLACE THE HEADS. *JB
VEHICLE WAS GOING THROUGH A DRIVE THROUGH DRIVER NOTICED THAT THERE WAS NO ABILITY TO STEER THE VEHICLE. CONSUMER GOT OUT OF THE VEHICLE, AND NOTICED THAT THE LEFT TIE ROD AND LOWER BALL JOINTS BROKE.*AK
FORD F150 TIE ROD FAILURE--IN AUGUST OF 2004 RECEIVED A NOTICE FROM FORD TO CHECK TIE RODS DUE TO CHANGE OF INSPECTION PROCEDURES INSPECTED TIE RODS IN SEPTEMBER 2004, CHECKED OK. IN APRIL OF 2005 DRIVER'S SIDE OUTER TIE ROD FAILED AT APPROXIMATELY. 60,000 MILES DAMAGES TO VEHICLE INCLUDED DRIVER'S SIDE TIRE& RIMS. *AK
THE CONSUMER STATED THE CRUISE CONTROL WAS DISCONNECTED TO PREVENT A FIRE. THE CONSUMER WAS TOLD HE WOULD GET A PHONE CALL FROM THE DEALER WHEN THE PARTS FOR THE RECALL CAME IN. IT HAS BEEN OVER A MONTH, AND THE CONSUMER WAS IRRITATED AND UPSET WITH FORD. *AK RECALL CAMPAIGN#05V017000. *SC *JB
VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN THE DRIVEWAY FOR ABOUT TWO HOURS WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN CONSUMER NOTICED THAT IT HAD CAUGHT ON FIRE. RESULTS SHOWED THAT THERE WAS A SHORT WITHIN THE CRUISE CONTROL SWITCH.*AK
UPON EXITING THE GROCERY STORY ON TUESDAY MARCH 29, 2005 I FOUND MY 2000 FORD EXPEDITION ON FIRE. FORTUNATELY, THERE WAS A BATTALION OF FIREMEN SHOPPING AT THE TIME & THEY WERE ABLE TO PUT OUT THE FIRE VERY QUICKLY. BECAUSE THEY WERE THE FIRE CAPTAIN ASKED ME IF I HAD HAD THE CAR SERVICED, IN PARTICULAR THE MASTER BRAKE CYLINDER, AS THAT WAS OBVIOUSLY THE POINT OF ORIGIN. I SAID NO. A PASSERBY MENTIONED THE RECALL (WE HAD ONLY JUST RECEIVED A LETTER IN THE MAIL) AND AFTER REMEMBERING THE CONTENTS OF THE LETTER WE RECEIVED DID WE REALIZE THIS FAULTY PART WAS THE CAUSE. WE HAD OUR CAR TOWED TO THE FORD DEALER WHERE WE BOUGHT IT AND HAD ONLY GOTTON THE RUN AROUND SINCE. THE FIRE DAMAGE WAS LIMITED TO OUR VEHICLE ENGINE COMPARTMENT AS WELL AS LEFT FRONT TIRE AND AREA BETWEEN THE ENGINE & TIRE. THIS WAS DUE TO THE CLOSE PROXIMITY OF THE FIREMEN WHEN FIRE BROKE OUT.*AK
WHEN STARTING UP THE VEHICLE SPARK PLUG BLEW OUT OF THE CYLINDER. OWNER CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURER, WHO WAS OF NO ASSISTANCE TO THE OWNER. *AK THE OWNER MANUAL STATED THAT THESE PLUGS ARE NOT TO BE CHANGED UNTIL 100,000 MILES, CONSUMER TRUCK ONLY HAD 44,000 MILES. *BF *NM
I WAS IN MY HOUSE WORKING ON MY COMPUTER AND MY DOG WAS BARKING. AFTER ABOUT A MINUTE OF NON STOP BARKING I THOUGHT SOMEONE MAY HAVE BEEN IN MY DRIVEWAY SO I LOOKED OUT THE WINDOW AND COULD SEE FLAMES COMING OUT FROM UNDER MY HOOD. I WENT OUTSIDE AND CALLED 911. BY THE TIME THE FIRE DEPARTMENT GOT TO MY HOUSE MY TRUCK WAS COMPLETELY DESTROYED. ALONG WITH ALL MY CONSTRUCTION TOOLS THAT WERE INSIDE. THIS HAPPENED ABOUT 3:00 P.M. THIS IS A 2000, FORD, F150 4X4 SUPERCAB. *AK
VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN FRONT OF THE HOUSE PVERMOGHT, AND CONSUMER WAS NOTIFIED BY A NEIGHBOR ON THE PHONE THAT THE VEHICLE WAS ON FIRE. THE TIRES BURNED, THE WINDOWS BLEW OUT, AND ALL THE WIRING WAS BURNED. THE FIRE WAS EXTINGUISHED BY THE FIRE DEPARTMENT. CONSUMER HAD JUST PURCHASED THE VEHICLE, AND DID NOT KNOW AT THIS TIME IF THE VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN THE NHTSA CRUISE CONTROL RECALL 05V017000. *AK
VEHICLE WAS PARKED INSIDE THE CARPORT. EIGHT HOURS LATER,THE VEHICLE CAUGHT ON FIRE. VEHICLE WAS TOWED, AND TOTALED BY THE INSURANCE COMPANY. *AK
VEHICLE CAUGHT FIRE WHILE PARKED AND OCCUPIED BY MYSELF. ENGINE WAS NOT RUNNING. VEHICLE WAS TOTALLY DESTROYED BY FIRE. FIRE MARSHALL INVESTIGATED INCIDENT AND FOUND THAT CAUSE WAS DIRECTLY DUE TO THE KNOWN PROBLEM WITH FORD MOTOR CO.'S SPEED CONTROL DEACTIVATION SWITCH.
DRIVER NOTICED SMOKE COMING FROM UNDERNEATH THE HOOD AND INSIDE OF THE VEHICLE FROM THE VENTS. DRIVER PULLED OVER. THE VEHICLE CAUGHT ON FIRE, AND THE DRIVER WAS ABLE TO EXTINGUISH THE FIRE, AND DROVE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER. *AK
VEHICLE WAS ON THE ROAD WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN THE SPARK PLUG BLEW OUT, CAUSING VEHICLE TO STALL. CONSUMER WILL TAKE VEHICLE TO DEALER FOR REPAIRS FOR THE SECOND TIME.*AK
CRACK IN DRIVERS SIDE DOOR SKIN NEAR REAR OF GLASS SEEMS TO BE A FACTORY DEFECT AFFECTING OVER 60% OF FORD F150 OWNERS , MODEL YEAR 1997-2000. O REPAIIR AT THIS TIME. *AK
THE ABS SENSOR CONTINUES TO STAY ON, THE TURN SIGNALS AND OVERHEAD CONSOLE FAIL INTERMITTENTLY. DEALER STATES THEY CANNOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM.*AK
CONSUMER RECEIVED RECALL 05V017000. CONSUMER TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALER, AND WAS INFORMED THE PART WAS NOT IN AFTER DISCONNECTING CRUISE CONTROL. CRUISE CONTROL WAS DISCONNECTED IN MID FEBRUARY.*AK
DOOR CRACKS BY WINDOW. *AK
THE FRONT RIGHT TIE ROD FAILED UNEXPECTEDLY WHILE DRIVING 5 MPH AND CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO STOP. MANUFACTURER WILL BE CONTACTED BY CONSUMER. *JB *NM
WHILE VEHICLE WAS PARKED FOR 1 HOUR A FIRE STARTED UNDER THE HOOD.VEHICLE WAS TOTALED. DEALERSHIP WAS NOTIFIED, BUT DID NOT RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. *AK

THE CONSUMER'S 2000 FORD F150 HAS HAD THREE SET OF ROTORS AND THE TRUCK ONLY HAS 62000 MILES. *NM CURRENTLY THE VEHICLE NEEDS ANOTHER SET OF ROTORS. *SC *JB
THE ABS CHECK LIGHT REMAINED ON WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS ON. OWNER'S MANUAL INFORMED THE CONSUMER THAT THE BRAKES MAY NOT OPERATE NORMALLY. OWNER CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURER.*AK
WE RECENTLY PURCHASED A 2000 FORD EXC. LTD. AND NOW THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR LOCK WILL NOT LOCK OR UNLOCK HALF THE TIME WHEN WE USE THE REMOTE, EVEN WHEN IN THE VEHICLE WE PUSH THE LOCK BUTTON AND WE STILL HAVE TO MANUALLY PUSH THE ACTUAL LOCK DOWN. WE HAVE FRIENDS THAT PURCH. THE SAME TYPE OF VEHICLE AND YEAR, THEY ALSO HAD THE SAME PROBLEM.ALSO WE HAVE A COMB. LOCK ON THE OUTSIDE AND WE HAVE NO WAY OF BEING ABLE TO GET THE MANUF. CODE SO WE CAN ACCESS THAT IN CASE OUR KEYS GET LOCKED IN THE VEHICLE, THE DEALERSHIP DID NOT HAVE UT AND WE CANNOT FIND IT ANYWHERE.*AK

EA 05-005/ENGINE COMPARTMENT FIRES: AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN FRONT OF THE CONSUMER'S HOME FOR APPROXIMATELY 30-45 MINUTES, THE VEHICLE CAUGHT ON FIRE UNDER THE HOOD. THE LOCAL FIRE DEPARTMENT ARRIVED TO EXTINGUISH THE FIRE. THE INSURANCE INVESTIGATOR DETERMINED THAT THE FIRE WAS DUE TO AN ELECTRICAL SHORT. THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED. *AK CRUISE CONTROL ISSUE. *SC
ON JAUNUARY 28, 2005 I TOOK MY 2000 FORD EXPEDITION TO FAMILY FORD IN MARIETTA, OH TO HAVE THE NECESSARY ITEM DISCONNECTED TO AVOID A FIRE. I HAD HEARD THE CAUTION ON THE NATIONAL NEWS AND TOOK THE CAR IN ALMOST IMMEDIATELY. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT OF ABOVE DEALERSHIP STATED THEY DISCONNECTED THE CRUISE CONTROL. DURING THE FIRST PART OF FEBRUARY 2005 I RECEIVED THE RECALL LETTER FROM FORD MOTOR COMPANY. I DID NOT ACT ON THE LETTER AS I HAD ALREADY DONE WHAT WAS RECOMMENDED AND PLANNED TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT FOR A PERMANANT REPAIR WHEN THE PARTS BECAME AVAILABLE. ON 2-24-05 ABOUT 15-20 MINUTES AFTER I HAD PARKED THE CAR IN THE DRIVEWAY FOR THE NIGHT MY HUSBAND, WHO HAD BEEN OUTSIDE, OPENED THE DOOR AND CALLED IN "CALL 911 YOUR CAR IS ON FIRE". HE THEN WENT OUTSIDE AND TRIED TO USE THE FIRE EXTINGUISHER THROUGH THE GRILL TO STEM THE FIRE. THE WILLIAMSTOWN VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENT RESPONDED QUICKLY AND EFFICIENTLY, PUTTING OUT THE FIRE. IN ADDITION TO THE ENGINE/HOOD, ETC. DISAPPEARING IN THE FIRE, THE BATTERY BLEW UP AND THERE IS LEAD ALL OVER OUR HOUSE, YARD, AS WELL AS ANTI-FREEZE SOAKED INTO THE GRAVEL DRIVEWAY. CERTAINLY AN ENVIRONMENTAL HAZARD TO OUR FAMILY WHICH INCLUDES THREE DOGS. ALSO A PROBLEM FOR THE NEIGHBOR DOGS. FORD MOTOR COMPANY WAS INFORMED AND ON 3-1-05 I WAS GIVEN THE OPTION OF LETTING MY INSURANCE HANDLE IT OR HAVING THE CAR TOWED TO THE NEAREST DEALERSHIP [ANOTHER EXPENSE] AND HAVING THEM EVALUATE IF IT IS A MECHANICAL DEFECT. IF IT IS FORD WOULD GIVE ME TRADE-IN VALUE. OBVIOUSLY I CANNOT REPLACE THE CAR FOR THE TRADE-IN VALUE. FORD MOTOR COMPANY ACCEPTS NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR CLEAN UP OF MY HOUSE AND DRIVEWAY. *AK
THE FRONT WINDSHIELD CRACKED ON OUR 2000 FORD EXCURSION. OUR BROTHER INLAWS 1999 EXCURSION AND AN 2004 F350 HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. *AK
THE VEHICLE CAUGHT ON FIRE WHILE PARKED UNDER AN APARTMENT BUILDING. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE. THE INSURANCE INVESTIGATOR INDICATED THAT THE FIRE WAS CAUSED BY THE CRUISE CONTROL DEACTIVATION SWITCH. RECALL 05V017000 WAS ISSUED AND THIS VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED, BUT CONSUMER WAS NEVER NOTIFIED. THE TRUCK WAS IN THE DEALERSHIP BEING SERVICED A WEEK PRIOR TO THE FIRE. *AK RICK STATED THAT HE HAD HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE ODOMETER LIGHT FLASHING ON AND OFF ABOUT A WEEK BEFORE THE FIRE. HE HAD ALSO HAD TROUBLES WITH HIS AXLES. RICK TOO THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER TO HAVE THESE ISSUES RESOLVED ABOUT A WEEK BEFORE THE FIRE. THE NEXT DAY AFTER PICKING THE CAR UP FRO THE DEALER, RICK SAID THAT ONE OF HIS FUSES WAS POPPING ON THE CIRCUIT THAT THE FLASHERS WRE ON. HER TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER THE NEXT DAY AND THEY REPLACE THE FUSE BUT NOTHING ELSE. RICK SAID HE NEVER USED THE CRUISE CONTROL AND DID NOT KNOW IF IT WAS WORKING. INSURED BY STATE FARM POLICY #1174126F2275 CLAIM #75A940492. RICK SAID THAT SF HAD DONE A FIRE INVESTIGATION AND THAT HE HAD PICTURES AS WELL AND THAT HE WOULD E-MAIL THEM TO BRUCE YORK. THE FIRE SPREAD TO THE APARTMENT BUILDING WHERE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED.
I HAD A 2000 F-150 THAT CAUGHT FIRE 8 HOURS AFTER IT HAD BEEN PARKED IN OUR DRIVE-WAY. WE WOKE TO A VERY LOUD POPPING SOUND AT 1:20 A.M. THIS TURNED OUT TO BE THE TIRE EXPLODING FROM THE FIRE. BY THE TIME THE FIRE DEPARTMENT SHOWED UP AND PUT THE FIRE OUT THE TRUCK WAS COMPLETELY DESTROYED.
