I PURCHASED MY 2000 FORD F150 FROM AN AUCTION ON JUNE 14, 2010. ON JUNE 22ND LESS THAN A WEEK AFTER BEING MD INSPECTED, ONE OF THE TWO STRAPS HOLDING MY GAS TANK BROKE DUE TO EXCESSIVE RUST. THE RUST HAD NOT BEEN EVIDENT, IT WAS COVERED BY A PLASTIC OUTER COVERING ON THE STRAP. FORTUNATELY MY STEP-SON WAS ONLY DRIVING 15 MPH (JUST TURNED ONTO THE MAIN STREET) WHEN IT HAPPENED. THERE WAS NO FIRE, BUT IT COULD HAVE BEEN DEADLY. *TR
MY 2000 FORD F-150 FUEL TANK FELL OUT OF THE VEHICLE THIS PAST JUNE 2010. THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED NEW AND WAS DEALER UNDER COATED TO PREVENT RUSTING. THE TANK AT THE TIME WAS FULL OF FUEL AND WAS WITHIN MINUTES OF HAVING BEEN TRAVELING DOWN THE FREEWAY. THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED FOR A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME BEFORE THE FUEL TANK FELL TO THE GROUND. ON INSPECTION THE FORWARD STRAP WAS MISSING ON THE TANK WAS ON THE GROUND FRONT FIRST. IF THIS WOULD HAVE HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY IT WOULD HAVE SURELY ENDED IN A FIRE. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 FORD F-150. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN FRONT OF HIS HOME, IT CAUGHT FIRE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT ANOTHER VEHICLE NEAR THE FORD F-150 ALSO CAUGHT FIRE. THE CARPORT WAS DAMAGED. A FIRE REPORT WAS FILED. THE FIRE INSPECTOR ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE FIRE COULD HAVE BEEN CAUSED BY THE CRUISE CONTROL. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 112000.
DRIVING TRUCK FOR ABOUT AN HOUR, CAME HOME, TRUCK SAT FOR ABOUT AN HOUR AND A HALF. CAUGHT ON FIRE. FIRE WAS MAINLY IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT AND SEEMED TO GET THE HOTTEST NEAR THE DRIVERS SIDE. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 FORD F-150. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 15 MPH, THE CONTACT HEARD A LOUD NOISE WHEN HE NOTICED THAT THE FUEL TANK HAD SEPARATED FROM THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A PRIVATE MECHANIC WHERE THEY REINSTALLED THE DETACHED FUEL TANK AND REPLACED THE HOSE AND FILLER TUBE. THE DEALER ADVISED THE CONTACT TO BRING THE VEHICLE IN FOR INSPECTION. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT ADVISED OF THE FAILURE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 175,000. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 150,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
MY HUSBAND AND DAUGHTER FILLED THE GAS TANK OF OUR FORD F-150 TRUCK, YEAR 2000. JUST MINUTES LATER WHILE ON I-265 ABOUT TO MERGE ONTO I-65, THE GAS TANK FELL OFF AND DRAGGED THE HIGHWAY. A POLICEMAN STOPPED TO HELP AND HE CALLED THE FIRE DEPARTMENT. THEY CAME AND PUT A FIRE RETARDANT ON THE GAS SPILL. THE TRUCK WAS TOWED TO A SERVICE CENTER AND A NEW GAS TANK WAS STRAPPED ON WITH NEW STRAPS. *TR UPDATED 08/01/11 *BF UPDATED 12/05/11

FUEL TANK FELL OUT OF TRUCK WHILE DRIVING CAUSING SIGNIFICANT ENVIRONMENTAL CLEAN UP (LUCKILY NO FIRE) AND REPAIR BILL. *TR
OUR 2000 FORD F150 CAUGHT ON FIRE WHILE SITTING IN OUR CARPORT. WE HAD RETURNED FROM ACROSS THE STREET AND PARKED IT IN THE CARPORT. ABOUT 20 MINUTES LATER OUR SON CAME RUNNING IN AND SAID THE TRUCK WAS ON FIRE. WE THINK THE FIRE WAS DUE TO A RECALLED SPEED CONTROL DEACTIVATION SWITCH. THE FIRE CAUSE ALOT OF DAMAGE TO THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM AND ALL THE PLASTIC PARTS ARE MELTED. *TR

THE TANK HAD DROPPED DOWN. THE REAR STRAP WAS RUSTY BUT HOLDING. HAD TO HAVE FRONT STRAP REPLACED. REAR STRAP WAS SANDED AND PRIMERED BECAUSE THE NEW REAR STRAP I PURCHASED DID NOT FIT. ON APRIL 28TH, AT APPROXIMATELY 6 PM, WHILE IT HAD BEEN SITTING, HAVING NOT BEEN DRIVEN FOR ALMOST AN HOUR, OUR 2000 FORD F-150 CAUGHT FIRE. THERE WAS NO INDICATION PRIOR TO THE EVENT THAT WOULD HAVE TIPPED US OFF THAT THIS WAS GOING TO HAPPEN OUR CRUISE CONTROL WAS STILL OPERATIONAL. WE RECEIVED OUR RECALL NOTICE IN JANUARY 2005 AND WE TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP IN LATE MAY EARLY JUNE 2005 WHERE IT WAS PURCHASED TO HAVE IT SERVICED FOR SMOKE COMING FROM UNDERNEATH THE HOOD. IT WAS NOT UNTIL THIS FIRE THAT WE FOUND OUT THE CRUISE CONTROL WAS NOT FIXED, OUR INSURANCE COMPANY, FARM BUREAU, DID AN INVESTIGATION AND THAT WAS THEIR FINDING. WE WERE VERY FORTUNATE THAT NOBODY WAS HURT BUT THE TRUCK IS A TOTAL LOSS. *TR
MY SON WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT ON 4/22/2010 WHILE DRIVING A 2000 FORD F-150 4X2 TWO DOOR PICKUP TRUCK. SIDE MARKS AT THE SCENE REVEALED THAT THE F-150'S ANTI-LOCK BRAKES DID NOT ENGAGE CAUSING THE TRUCK TO SLIDE RESULTING IN A FAILURE TO STOP IN TIME TO AVOID THE ACCIDENT. THE AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY AFTER THE FRONT-END IMPACT AND THE SEATBELT DID NOT LOCK CAUSING MY SON TO BE THROWN FORWARD HEATING HIS HEAD ON THE SUN VISOR AND SNAPPING HIS HEAD BACKWARD ROLLING HIS FACE INTO THE ROOF OF THE TRUCK AND INJURING HIS NECK. HE ALSO BRUISED SOME RIBS ON THE STEERING WHEEL AND JAMMED SEVERAL FINGERS. THE SEATBELT DID KEEP HIM FROM BEING EJECTED FROM THE VEHICLE BUT BY NOT ENGAGING, CAUSED UNNECESSARY INJURIES. HAD HE BEEN DRIVING AT A HIGHER RATE OF SPEED AT THE TIME OF THE IMPACT HE INJURIES WOULD HAVE BEEN FAR MORE SERIOUS AND EVEN LIFE THREATENING. WE PURCHASED THIS F150 ON 1/19/2010 FROM THE CITY OF MOUNT JULIET, TN. THE VEHICLE WAS WELL MAINTAINED BY THE CITY ACCORDING TO THE VEHICLE MAINTENANCE RECORDS. WE REQUEST TO HAVE A NON-PARTIAL EXPERT EXAMINE THE VEHICLE TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE SAFETY FEATURES FAILURE TO DEPLOY ON THIS VEHICLE. *TR
MY 2000 FORD F150 WAS SITTING IN MY PARENTS DRIVEWAY AS WE WERE VISITING. WE HEARD A LOUD NOISE BUT COULDN'T FIGURE OUT WHAT IT WAS. WHEN I LOOKED OUT THE WINDOW, I SAW MY TRUCK ON FIRE. MY DAD GOT A HOSE AND I CALLED 911 AND BETWEEN DAD AND THE FIREMEN, THE FIRE WAS PUT OUT WITHOUT HITTING THE OTHER VEHICLES NEARBY OR THE GARAGE. THE F150 IS TOTALED WITH THE HOOD TOTALLY GONE AND THE ENGINE, ELECTRICAL AND OTHER COMPONENTS IN THE COMPARTMENT BURNED UP AS WELL AS THE FRONT WINDSHIELD AND THE DASHBOARD. THIS COULD HAVE BEEN MORE SERIOUS AS I WAS JUST ABOUT TO LEAVE TO TAKE MY 5 YEAR-OLD NIECE HOME W/MY 9 YEAR-OLD DAUGHTER. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED WAS DRIVING 20 MPH AND MERGING INTO TRAFFIC WHEN THE VEHICLE EXHIBITED A LOUD, ABNORMAL NOISE. THE CONTACT DISCOVERED THAT THE FUEL TANK WAS PARTIALLY DETACHED AND HANGING FROM THE VEHICLE, CAUSING FUEL TO SPILL. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A LOCAL REPAIR SHOP WHERE THE FAILURE WAS DIAGNOSED AS A CORRODED FUEL STRAP. THE FUEL TANK AND BOTH STRAPS WERE REPLACED. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS DISPATCHED TO CLEAN THE FUEL SPILL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 185,301 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 195,000.
OWN 2000 F150 WITH 4.6 MOTOR. RIGHT REAR SPARK PLUG BLEW COMPLETELY OUT ON TRIP FROM WYOMING TO VERMONT. ON A SUNDAY SO HAD TO COMPLETE THE RUN, FIXED IT WITH A SPARK PLUG INSERT AND REPLACED INDIVIDUAL COIL THAT WAS BLOWN APART BY THE PLUG, BUT TRUCK HAS NOT RUN RIGHT SINCE. WHAT IS BEING DONE ABOUT THIS AS IT SEEMS TO BE A VERY COMMON COMPLAINT ? *TR

2000 FORD F150 CAUGHT FIRE. THE TRUCK HADN'T BEEN MOVED IN 8 HOURS. I AWOKE AT 1 AM AND SAW MY TRUCK WAS ON FIRE. I DIDN'T GET NOTICE ABOUT A RECALL ON A PART THAT CAUSE THEM TO JUST CATCH ON FIRE. *TR
2000 F250 SD 7.3 DIESEL INCIDENT DATE 2/15/2010 2/12/2010 I TOOK MY TRUCK INTO THE DEALER TO GET A OIL CHANGE AND A RECALL FIXED ON THE CRUISE CONTROL. THAT MORNING WHEN I STARTED IT UP, IT HAD A NOISE WHEN I TURNED THE WHEEL, WHEN I BROUGHT IT IN, THEY SAID THE GASKET ON MY POWER STEERING HAD GONE BAD, AND I NEEDED A COMPLETE REPLACEMENT OF MY POWER STEERING PUMP. NOW IS WHEN THE REAL PROBLEM STARTS... I HAD NOT EXPERIENCED THIS PROBLEM PRIOR TO THE DEALER VISIT. ALL OF THE SUDDEN WHEN I DRIVE ON THE HIGHWAY, ANY ROUGH ROAD SENDS IT INTO UNCONTROLLABLE SHAKING, I THOUGHT I WAS GOING TO LOSE COMPLETE CONTROL OF THE TRUCK, IT COULD EASILY CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. I LOOKED FOR THIS PROBLEM ON THE INTERNET, AND FOUND THIS IS A PROBLEM FOR MANY FORD SD DRIVERS, AND AS OTHERS HAVE PUT IT, FORD WON'T DO ANYTHING UNTIL THE DEATHS OUT WAY THE RECALL COST. IT IS UP TO PEOPLE LIKE YOU, TO KEEP US SAFE, AND MAKE THESE CAR COMPANIES FIX THEIR PROBLEM VEHICLES BEFORE THERE ARE TOO MANY DEATHS. I AM SURE THERE HAS TO OF BEEN AN ACCIDENT CAUSED BY THIS PROBLEM, VERY POSSIBLY 1 OR MORE DEATHS, I KNOW OF ONE PERSON WITH THIS PROBLEM ON THE WEBSITE CAUSED A 3 CAR ACCIDENT. I CALLED THE DEALER, THEY WANT TO COME TO MY HOME AND DRIVE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP, I SAID I WOULD HAVE IT TOWED IN, BUT THEY WANT TO DRIVE IT, WHICH MAKES ME UNCOMFORTABLE, SINCE I AM LIABLE FOR WHAT HAPPENS WITH MY TRUCK. THERE HAS BEEN NO MODIFICATIONS DONE TO THIS VEHICLE, AND THE TIRES ARE THE APPROPRIATE TIRES AND THEY ARE FILLED WITH THE PROPER AIR PRESSURE. *TR

A FIRE STARTED UNDER THE HOOD AND PASSER BY WAS KIND ENOUGH TO STOP AND HELP PUT IT OUT. I HAD A MACHINIST FIX THE HEAD AND I AM ABLE TO DRIVE THE TRUCK AGAIN. IT SCARES ME TO THINK THAT A MANUFACTURER IS ALLOWED TO PRODUCE A VEHICLE THAT COULD HAVE KILLED MY FAMILY. I HAVE LEARNED THAT I WILL NEVER OWN ANOTHER FORD VEHICLE WITH THIS TYPE OF ENGINE AND I WILL ENCOURAGE OTHERS TO THE SAME. *TR

I NEVER RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FOR THE CRUISE CONTROL SWITCH AND KNEW NOTHING ABOUT IT SHORTLY AFTER I GOT THE TRUCK I HAD IT AT THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY TOLD ME NOTHING ABOUT THIS RECALL WHEN I ASKED IF THE TRUCK HAD ANY. ALL I WAS TOLD IS THAT THERE WAS ONE ON THE PARKING BRAKE. *TR
2000 F150 CAUGHT FIRE AFTER BEING PARKED FOR APPROXIMATELY 2-HOURS. VEHICLE COMPLETELY DESTROYED AND TWO VEHICLES PARKED NEXT TO MY VEHICLE WERE DAMAGED. I WAS NEVER NOTIFIED BY FORD MOTOR COMPANY OF ANY RECALL. I WAS TOLD BY AN ACQUAINTANCE OF THE CRUISE CONTROL SWITCH RECALL THAT AFFECTED MY TRUCK AFTER THE FIRE OCCURRED. I HAVE MADE A CLAIM FOR DAMAGES WITH FORD MOTOR COMPANY AND AM AWAITING A RESOLUTION. *TR

A FIRE REPORT WAS AVAILABLE. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE HAS NOT BEEN DETERMINED. A TECHNICIAN FROM THE DEALER STATED THAT HIS COMPLAINT WOULD BE FORWARDED TO THE OFFICE OF GENERAL COUNCIL AND THAT THEY WILL GIVE HIM A CALL BACK. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A FORD COLLISION CENTER FOR INSPECTION. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 125000.
2000 FORD F150. HAS LAUNCHED SPARK PLUGS ON TWO OCCASIONS. FIRST ONE SHOT THROUGH COIL PACK, DISABLING VEHICLE. LAST ONE TOOK THREADS WITH IT, FORD SAYS HEAD WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED FOR AROUND 4000 DOLLARS.HTTP://WWW.CONSUMERAFFAIRS.COM/AUTOMOTIVE/FORD_SPARK.HTML , THIS SITE HAS OVER 300 PEOPLE WHO HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM ON MODELS FROM 1997 TILL PRESENT. HOW CAN THE SAME PROBLEM CONTINUE TO HAPPEN FOR OVER TEN YEARS WITHOUT ANY RECALL BEING ISSUED? FIRST COUPLE OF YEARS MIGHT BE RECALL, CONTINUING FOR THE NEXT TEN MODEL YEARS AMOUNTS TO FRAUD. THE SPARK PLUGS ALSO REST BELOW THE FUEL RAIL, ITS JUST A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE SOMEONE BURNS TO DEATH OR CRASHES DUE TO THE SUDDENNESS OF THE PROBLEM. AT THIS POINT ONLY FORD WILL CHANGE THESE PLUGS AND WHEN THEY WONT THREAD IN BECAUSE THE THREADS ARE GONE, THEY TELL YOU 4000 DOLLARS FOR A NEW HEAD OR TOW IT OUT. OUR FORD DEALER TOLD US IT WAS SAFE TO DRIVE HOME, I STARTED IT UP, I DON'T THINK SO. FORD TOLD ME IT WAS A SPARK PLUG DESIGN ISSUE, BUT THE PLUGS THEY INSTALLED WERE MOTORCRAFT, ALSO A FORD PRODUCT. SO IN MY MIND IT STILL A FORD DESIGN PROBLEM, NOT MINE. *TR
2000 FORD F-150 HAS A PROBLEM WITH THE TURN SIGNAL SWITCH FAILING. I HAVE REPLACED IT ONCE ALREADY AND THE PROBLEM OCCURRED AGAIN. I HAVE DONE RESEARCH VIA INTERNET AND OTHER PEOPLE HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. NEW BULB REPLACEMENT AND FUSE REPLACEMENT DOES NOT REMEDY THE PROBLEM. THE MULTIFUNCTION SWITCH IS DEFECTIVE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED, AND HE WAS ADVISED TO CONTACT HIS INSURANCE COMPANY. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE OVER 100,000.

OWN 2000 F150 4X4, CRUISE CONTROL SWITCH WAS REPLACED ON RECALL A FEW YEARS AGO. LAST YEAR HAD TO REPLACE THE CRUISE CONTROL SWITCH AGAIN AT MY COST BECAUSE IT HAD ALREADY BEEN REPLACED ON RECALL. HAVE A 2000 FORD F150 HAD TANK FILLED WITH GAS AND WAS DRIVING DOWN ROAD WHEN GAS TANK FELL OF FOUND THAT BOTH STRAPS THAT HELD TANK HAD RUSTED THROUGH THANKFULLY WE WERE NOT MOVING FAST OR IT IS HARD TO TELL WHAT WOULD HAVE HAPPENED THERE IS ONLY 125000 MILE ON VEHICLE AND HAS BEEN MAINTAINED FEEL THAT AN INCIDENT LIKE THIS IS UNCALLED FOR THAT THERE SHOULD HAVE BEEN A SAFER WAY OF MOUNTING SINCE VEHICLE HAD EVEN BEEN RUSTPROOFED WE ARE THANKFULL THAT THIS DID NOT HAPPEN A HIGH SPEED FOR WE FEEL THAT SOMETHING GRAVE COULD HAVE HAPPENED TO US AND ANYONE BEHIND US IF AND WHEN IT MAY HAVE EXPLODED. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2000 FORD F-150. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 5 MPH, THE CONTACT HEARD SOMETHING FALL FROM UNDER THE VEHICLE. THE CONSUMER PULLED OVER AND STOPPED. THE CONTACT EXITED THE VEHICLE AND DISCOVERED THE FUEL TANK WAS DETACHED FROM THE FRAME OF THE VEHICLE AND LAYING ON THE PAVEMENT UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE STILL ATTACHED TO THE GAS HOSE. THE CONSUMER MANAGED TO RE-ATTACH THE TANK TO THE VEHICLE USING A COAT HANGER. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT REPAIR SHOP WHERE THE CONTACT WAS TOLD THAT THE STRAPS WHICH HELD THE FUEL TANK WERE SEVERELY CORRODED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 155,140 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN. UPDATED 04/25/11 *BF AN INSPECTION REVEALED THE STRAPS HOLDING THE TANK WHICH WAS MADE OUT OF VERY THIN MATERIAL HAD CORRODED AND BROKEN A PART ALLOWING THE FUEL TANK TO FALL OFF. ON WEDNESDAY, JULY 22, 2009, I DROVE TO WORK AND ARRIVED AT 9:00AM WITHOUT INCIDENT. AT 11:00AM I WAS NOTIFIED THAT MY TRUCK (2000 FORD F150) WAS ON FIRE IN THE PARKING LOT. IT APPEARS THAT AN ELECTRICAL FIRE HAD STARTED IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. I READ LATER (ONLINE) THAT THERE IS A RECALL ON NUMEROUS FORD VEHICLES REGARDING A DEFAULT WITH A CRUISE CONTROL SWITCH THAT HAS CONSTANT POWER THAT HAS LEAD TO NUMEROUS F150'S (AND OTHER FORD VEHICLES) TO UNEXPECTEDLY BURST INTO FLAMES. THIS APPEARS TO HAVE BEEN CAUSED BY THIS PROBLEMATIC SWITCH BECAUSE THE FIRE STARTED IN THE LOCATION WHERE THIS DEFECTIVE SWITCH IS LOCATED. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 FORD F-150. THE VEHICLE HAS GRABBER AW TIRES, SIZE P275/60 R17. WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH, THE VEHICLE BEGAN SHAKING AND THE TIRE TREAD BEGAN TO SEPARATE. THE CONTACT PULLED THE VEHICLE OVER AND CALLED THE POLICE. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE DEALER ADVISED HIM TO PLACE THE SPARE TIRE ON THE VEHICLE. SHE FEELS THAT THE DEALER SHOULD REPLACE THE TIRE EVEN THOUGH THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED AS IS. THE DOT NUMBER WAS UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 106,000.
2000 FORD F150. BLEW NO. 3 SPARK WHILE DRIVING. IT BLEW AT PARTIAL THROTTLE, 45 MPH. TRUCK HAS BEEN PROPERLY MAINTAINED, NEVER HAD THIS HAPPEN ON ANY OTHER CAR I EVER OWNED. COME TO FIND OUT THIS A COMMON PROBLEM ON TRITON V-8 ENGINES. I'VE OWNED CARS WITH ALUMINUM HEADS BEFORE SO FOR FORD TO CLAIM ITS A TORQUING PROBLEM AND THE FAULT OF THE OWNER IS DISGRACEFUL TO ALL THE PEOPLE THAT MAINTAIN THEIR OWN CARS. FORTUNATELY THE FIRE WAS ONLY TEMPORARY AND WENT OUT WHEN I STOPPED THE TRUCK AND KILLED THE ENGINE, BUT THERE OBVIOUSLY HAD BEEN A FIRE AT SOME POINT. THIS IS THE SAME TRUCK THAT HAS ALREADY BEEN RECALLED ONCE, STILL HAVE A BURN MARK ON THE MASTER CYLINDER RESERVOIR FROM WHERE IT ALMOST BURST INTO FLAMES IN MY DRIVEWAY ONE DAY, THANK GOD I JUST SO HAPPENED TO HAVE THE HOOD UP TO REPLACE MY COOLANT WHEN IT HAPPENED, OR THE WHOLE TRUCK WOULD HAVE BURNT DOWN, I MANAGED TO PULL THE FUSE BEFORE IT DID, BUT FOR THIS TO HAPPEN ON TOP OF THAT IS RIDICULOUS. *TR

THE CONSUMER BELIEVED THAT THE FORD F SERIES SUPER DUTY PICK-UP TRUCKS NEED TO BE INVESTIGATED FOR A DEFECT THAT INVOLVES THE SIDE POLE WHICH COULD CAUSE INJURIES/DEATHS DURING A SIDE IMPACT CRASH. *JB THE CONSUMER CLAIMED THAT THE RELATIONSHIP OF THE FRAME RAIL SPACING AND OCCUPANT SEATING PLACED THE OCCUPANT IN UNDUE DANGER IN SIDE IMPACT CRASHES. ESPECIALLY WHEN THE SIDE IMPACT INVOLVES THE VEHICLE STRIKING A POLE. UPDATED 03/1/10 UPDATED 03/15/10 THE CONSUMER STATED THE FUEL LEAK WAS A RESULT OF A TANK STRAP THAT RUSTED. IN 2009 THE BRACKETS CONNECTED TO THE FRAME THAT HELD UP GAS TANK DETERIORATED AND NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED TO PREVENT THE TANK FROM FALLING OFF THE TRUCK. SOON AFTER THAT REPAIR WORK WAS DONE TO LEAF SPRING BRACKETS WHICH HAD RUSTED OFF THE FRAME. IN 2010,THE TRUCK WAS TAKEN IN FOR ANNUAL INSPECTION, IT COULD NOT PASS BECAUSE THE FRAME WAS TOO RUSTED AND LIKELY TO BREAK AT ANY TIME, THIS TRUCK HAS ALWAYS HAD ALL MAINTENANCE NEEDED WHEN SCHEDULED AND FROM THE EXTERIOR, IT LOOKS LIKE IT IS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION, BUT CONSIDERED TO BE UNSAFE TO DRIVE AND BE ON THE ROADS.
