I WAS DRIVING NORTHBOUND ON A 3 LANE MAIN ROAD (2 LANES GOING ONE WAY, 1 LANE GOING THE OTHER WAY) AT ABOUT 40 MPH. WHILE COMING UP TO A T-INTERSECTION (I HAD THE RIGHT OF WAY, THE SENTRA HAD A STOP SIGN) ABOUT 20 TO 30 FEET FROM CROSSING THE INTERSECTION, THE SENTRA PROCEEDED TO CROSS MY LANES TO MAKE HER LEFT TURN. AS I TRIED TO AVOID THE ACCIDENT I ENDED UP HITTING HER SENTRA HEAD ON. AFTER THE IMPACT MY AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. AS FOR HER SENTRA THE IMPACT WAS ON THE FRONT LEFT TIRE SO NO AIRBAGS DEPLOYED IN HER CAR. I HAVE A 2000 FORD F-150 AND HIT HER HEAD ON....BUT NO AIRBAGS DEPLOYED. COULD THIS HAVE BEEN A POSSIBLE DEFECT ON MY TRUCK. I HAD PICTURES TAKEN MINUTES AFTER THE ACCIDENT. *TR
I OWN A 2000 FORD F-150, TRITON 4.6 LITER. JULY 2007, BLOWN SPARK PLUG FROM CYLINDER HEAD; COST FOR REPAIR $636.00. MAY 2009, BLOWN SPARK PLUG (#3) FROM CYLINDER HEAD; COST FOR REPAIR $606.00 PLUS $81.00 FOR RENTAL VEHICLE. I UNDERSTAND FORD WILL NOT TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR REPAIRING AND OR REIMBURSING A CUSTOMER FOR THEIR EXPENSES. SIGNED, ANOTHER UNHAPPY FORD OWNER. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 FORD F-150. THE VEHICLE CAUGHT FIRE WHILE PARKED IN FRONT OF THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FIRE ORIGINATED UNDER THE HOOD AND THEN SPREAD TO THE FRONT SEAT AND REAR OF THE VEHICLE. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE AND FILED A REPORT. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 148,000.
2000 FORD F-150. SITTING IN OUR DRIVEWAY, NEIGHBOR SAID THEY SAW A FLASH. VEHICLE IGNITED ON DRIVER'S SIDE UNDER THE HOOD. OWNER WAS ABLE TO EXTINGUISH THE FIRE BEFORE FIRE DEPARTMENT ARRIVED. FORD MOTOR COMPANY STATED NO ASSISTANCE WOULD BE OFFERED. CURRENTLY BEING EVALUATED BY INSURANCE COMPANY. *TR

HE DID NOT RECEIVE A REPORT FROM THE FIRE DEPARTMENT. HE BELIEVED THAT THE FIRE WAS DUE TO NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 05V017000. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED AND THERE WERE NO PRIOR ISSUES WITH THE VEHICLE. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE APPROXIMATELY 92,900.

THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS DISPATCHED SINCE THE TANK WAS LEAKING FUEL. A POLICE REPORT WAS AVAILABLE. THE DEALER WAS CONTACT BUT DID NOT PROVIDE ANY ASSISTANCE SINCE THERE WERE NO RECALLS FOR THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE AND THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. 2000FORD F150 BURNED TO THE GROUND CAUSING DAMAGE TO HOUSE. *TR
I HAVE A 2000 FORD F-150 4X4. I WAS DRIVING ON ST RT 13 IN NEW LEXINGTON OHIO AND HAD THE GAS TANK HOLDING STRAPS RUST OFF AND HAD THE GAS TANK FALL OFF. MY TRUCK SEEMED TO BE IN OK SHAPE ON THE OUTSIDE. THIS LED ME TO CHECK OUT THE REST OF THE TRUCK MORE AND THEN I HAVE ALSO FOUND THAT THE FRAME, CAB CORNERS AND LOTS OF OTHER PARTS ARE RUSTING COMPLETELY. I HAVE SINCE THEN REPLACED THE STRAPS WITH NEW ONES FROM FORD. AS FOR THE REST OF THE TRUCK THE RUST IS GETTING WORSE BY THE DAY I HAVE USED RUST STOPPERS AND CLEANED AS MUCH OFF AS I COULD. I STILL HAVE A BANK NOTE SO I HAVE TO DRIVE IT. I HOPE AND PRAY THAT I AM NOT IN ANY ACCIDENTS FOR I BELIEVE THE TRUCK WOULD SUFFER GREAT DAMAGE DUE TO THE RUST!!! *TR
THE STARTER MOTOR WAS ENGAGING WHILE THE ENGINE WAS RUNNING WITH THE KEY IN THE RUN POSITION. I HAD TO DISCONNECT THE BATTERY TO STOP IT. THE HEATER BLOWER, PARKING LIGHTS, DASH LIGHT AND GAUGES, KEY CHIME, AND RADIO WOULD TURN ON AND OFF BY THEMSELVES WITHOUT A KEY IN THE IGNITION. ACCORDING TO THE FORD DEALER, THIS WAS ALL CAUSED BY WATER LEAKING IN FROM THE WINDSHIELD CAUSING THE FUSE BLOCK AND GEM MODULE TO SHORT OUT. THEY SAID IT WAS A COMMON OCCURRENCE WITH WINDSHIELD LEAKS ON 2000 FORD F-150'S. THEY HAD TO REMOVE THE WINDSHIELD AND RESEAL IT AND REPLACE STARTER,FUSE BLOCK, AND GEM MODULE. THIS WINDSHIELD WAS ALSO RESEALED 2 WEEKS AFTER BUYING THIS VEHICLE BRAND NEW FROM THE DEALER IN 2000. *TR
FAULTY CRUISE CONTROL DE-ACTIVATION SWITCH IN 2000 F150 CAUGHT ON FIRE AND BURNED MY HOUSE DOWN. *TR
FOR THE THIRD TIME I AM HAVING TO TAKE MY 2000 FORD F150 IN TO HAVE THE HEATER CORE REPLACED THE FIRST TWO TIMES I TOOK IT INTO THE DEALERSHIP TO DETERMINE THE PROBLEM. EACH PREVIOUS TIME ENDED WITH THE HEATER CORE BEING REPLACED. EACH TIME THE ISSUE IS PRECEDED BY FLUID LEAKING ONTO THE STREET AND INTO THE CAB. AS IT DRIPS INTO THE CAB IT GIVES OFF A PUNGENT SMELL. THE FIRST TIME THE HEATER CORE WAS REPLACED I PAID 800 DOLLARS FOR THE WORK. THE SECOND TIME I TOOK IT IN, I WAS INFORMED THAT THE ISSUE WAS A COMMON ONE BUT THE WARRANTY WOULD COVER THE WORK FOR THE HEATER CORE REPLACEMENT AT THAT TIME. I WAS TOLD HOWEVER THAT IF I NEEDED ANOTHER CORE IT WOULD NOT FALL UNDER THE WARRANTIED WORK. *TR
MY FORD F150 WAS PARKED IN MY DRIVEWAY FOR APPROXIMATELY 24 HOURS WITHOUT BEING USED. I WAN NOTIFIED THE TRUCK WAS ON FIRE IN MY DRIVEWAY, BURNING THE ENTIRE ENGINE COMPARTMENT AND THE WHOLE CAB OF MY TRUCK. I ALSO SUSTAINED DAMAGE TO MY FENCE AND MY NEIGHBORS FENCE. THE HEAT WAS SO INTENSE IT MELTED THE VINYL SIDING ON THE ENTIRE SIDE OF MY HOUSE WHERE VEHICLE WAS PARKED. THE VEHICLE WAS APPROXIMATELY 12 FEET FROM HOUSE. *TR
MY FORD-150 PICK-UP STARTED MAKING A SMALL NOISE FOR A FEW DAYS. I WENT OUT TO START MY TRUCK AND IT NO LONGER WAS A SMALL NOISE BUT ONE BIG LOUD NOISE. I HAD MY OIL AND PLUGS CHANGED ON OCTOBER 15, 2008. UPON RAISING THE HOOD I FOUND THAT ONE OF THE SPARK PLUGS HAD BLOWN OUT FROM WHERE IT WAS SUPPOSE TO BE. THE PLUG LOOKED LIKE IT WAS THE OLD ONE AND THAT MADE ME THINK THAT THEY HAD NOT CHANGED MY PLUGS. THE TRUCK WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER AND HE INFORMED ME THAT THE PLUG WAS ONE OF THE NEW ONES BUT THAT THE HEAD HID BLOWN THE PLUG OUT. (I HOPE I AM SAYING THIS RIGHT). THE SERVICE MANAGER TOLD ME THAT THERE HAD BEEN A LOT OF PROBLEMS WITH THIS HAPPENING TO THE FORD TRUCKS BUT THAT NO RECALL HAD EVER BEEN ISSUED. IT SEAMS THAT THERE IS SOME WEAK SPOTS DUE TO THE METAL NOT BEING STRONG ENOUGH TO HOLD THE PLUGS IN. I HAVE BEEN RESEARCHING THIS PROBLEMS AND THERE ARE A LOT OF PEOPLE COMPLAINING ABOUT THIS SAME SITUATION. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 FORD F150. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 20 MPH, THE CONTACT NOTICED SMOKE COMING FROM THE FRONT END OF HIS VEHICLE. HE THEN NOTICED FLAMES COMING FROM THE FUEL INJECTOR CYLINDERS. THE CONTACT EXTINGUISHED THE FLAMES. PRIOR TO THE FAILURE, THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED ACCORDING TO NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 05V388000 (VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL). THE VEHICLE HAS NOT YET BEEN TAKEN TO THE DEALER TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. NO REPAIRS HAVE BEEN MADE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 222,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 FORD F150 XL 4X4. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE REAR SUSPENSION ON THE VEHICLE FAILED DUE TO THE RACK AND PINION. BEFORE THE VEHICLE WAS DIAGNOSED, HE HEARD A GRINDING SOUND COMING FROM THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED AT THAT TIME. HE STATED THAT OTHER FORD F-150 OWNERS HAVE EXPERIENCED THE SAME ISSUE. THE CONTACT DOES NOT WANT TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE WHILE HAULING SOMETHING AND THE REAR SUSPENSION FAILS AND CAUSES A MAJOR CRASH. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 117,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 116,900.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 FORD F150. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 5 MPH IN A PARKING LOT, THE INSTRUMENT PANEL BEGAN TO SMOKE. PRIOR TO THIS FAILURE, THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS AUTOMATICALLY ACTIVATED AND DEACTIVATED WITHOUT ASSISTANCE. THE CONTACT PULLED OVER AND INSPECTED UNDERNEATH THE HOOD. HE NOTICED EXCESSIVE SMOKE, BUT NO FLAMES WERE PRESENT. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT DEPARTMENT WAS NOT CALLED TO THE SCENE. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING AND THEY STATED THAT THE WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR WAS THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS PREVIOUSLY REPAIRED ACCORDING TO NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 01V258000 (VISIBILITY;WINDSHIELD WIPER/WASHER MOTOR); HOWEVER, THE FAILURE PERSISTS. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 90,300.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE CAUGHT FIRE WITHOUT WARNING. IT WAS PARKED NEAR THE HOUSE AND IT ALMOST CAUGHT FIRE AS WELL. THE FIRE ORIGINATED IN THE ENGINE DUE TO THE VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. A FIRE REPORT WAS AVAILABLE. THE ENTIRE VEHICLE WAS BURNED VERY BADLY. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 200,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 FORD F150. WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH, THE CONTACT LOST CONTROL OF HER VEHICLE AND CRASHED. THE VEHICLE ROLLED OVER AND THE AIR BAG FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE POLICE WERE NOT CALLED; HOWEVER, THE INSURANCE COMPANY HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED FROM THE SCENE. THEY STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE CONTACT WAS THE ONLY OCCUPANT AT THE TIME OF THE CRASH. SHE WAS WEARING HER SEAT BELT; HOWEVER, SHE SUSTAINED NECK AND BACK INJURIES. THE AIR BAGS WERE NOT REPAIRED PRIOR TO OR AFTER THE CRASH. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
MY 2000 FORD F-150 CAUGHT FIRE IN PARKING LOT. INSURANCE ADJUSTER DETERMINED IT WAS CAUSED BY CRUISE CONTROL SWITCH. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT HAS BEEN EXPERIENCING MULTIPLE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM FAILURES. THE LOCKS AND WINDSHIELD WIPERS WORKED SPORADICALLY OR WOULD NOT WORK WHEN THE SWITCH WAS ACTIVATED. THE HEATER IN THE VEHICLE WOULD ALSO WORK RANDOMLY. THE VOLUME IN THE RADIO WOULD INCREASE WHILE HE ATTEMPTED TO TURN IT DOWN. HE CALLED A DEALER AND THE MECHANIC DISCOVERED NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 00V072000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:FUSES AND CIRCUIT BREAKERS), BUT IT ONLY APPLIED TO THE FORD EXPLORER. THE CONTACT WAS EXPERIENCING THE SAME FAILURE AS NOTED IN THE RECALL. THE VEHICLE IS BEING TAKEN TO THE DEALER ON JANUARY 5, 2009 FOR A DIAGNOSIS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 145,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 150,000.
GAS TANK FELL OFF TRUCK IN PARKING LOT--I'M VERY GLAD IT DIDN'T HAPPEN ON THE EXPRESSWAY! UPON INSPECTION, BOTH STRAPS WERE RUSTED THROUGH ALL OVER THE ENTIRE STRAPS. *TR

HE PURCHASED A NEW ONE AND REPLACED IT HIMSELF. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 113,000 AND THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 90,000. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS COMPLETELY RUST UNDER THE VEHICLE FROM FRONT TO BACK AND THERE WERE RUST PARTICLES FALLING OFF THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE BEGAN THREE YEARS PRIOR. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INSPECTED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 132,000.
I WAS BACKING OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY AND ONE OF MY SPARKPLUGS BLEW OUT OF THE HOLE. I HAD TO BRING IT TO THE SHOP WHERE THEY RETAPPED THE HOLE AND INSTALLED A NEW SPARK PLUG FOR A TOTAL OF 275.00. *TR
THE TRUCK WAS DRIVEN TO 2MILES VERY CLOSE TO HOME. THIS IS THE FIRST TIME OCCURING. THE TRUCK CAUGHT ON FIRE AND WHAT I DID WAS CALL THE FIRE FIGHTERS TO COME. THEREFORE I GOT THE HOSE AND POINTED IT AT THE TRUCK AND IT TURNED OFF. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 FORD F-150. THE TIRES FELT SLIGHTLY LOW AND THE CONTACT CHECKED THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE TIRE. SHE REALIZED THAT THE VALVE STEM WAS CRACKED. SHE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE TIRE SHOP AND HAD THE VALVE STEM REPLACED. APPROXIMATELY FIVE WEEKS LATER, THE TIRE PRESSURE LIGHT ILLUMINATED. SHE CHECKED THE TIRES AND REALIZED THAT THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE VALVE STEM WAS NOW CRACKED. SHE TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE SHOP AND HAD THE FAILURE REPAIRED. RECENTLY, THREE WEEKS LATER, THE TIRE PRESSURE INDICATOR ILLUMINATED AGAIN. THE CONTACT PULLED THE VEHICLE OVER AND NOTICED THAT THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE TIRE HAD COMPLETELY FAILED AND THE REAR DRIVER SIDE TIRE WAS CRACKED. BOTH TIRES WERE REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE CONTACT BELIEVES THAT IT WAS A DEFECT TO HAVE ALL FOUR TIRE VALVES FAIL WITHIN A TWO-MONTH PERIOD. THE TIRES AND VALVE STEMS WERE UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 14,000.
ON THURSDAY JULY 31, 2008. I GOT OFF FROM WORK AND I SAW MY TRUCK 200 F-150 ON FIRE, AND I READ IN THE INTERNET THAT IT HAPPEN BECAUSE IT HAS A PROBLEM WITH ONE OFF THE SWITCH. SO I CALL FORD AND THEY HAVEN DONE ANYTHING.. AND I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO BECAUSE I LOST MY TRUCK. *TR
07/07/2008 @ 12:58 MY FORD F-150 CAUGHT ON FIRE. TRUCK IS A TOTAL LOSS. ALSO DAMAGE TO CARS PARKED NEARBY. ALSO HAD PERSONAL PROPERTY LOSS OF THINGS INSIDE TRUCK. ABOUT 1 1/2 WK BEFORE FIRE I RECEIVED A RECALL LETTER FROM FORD EXPLAINING THE RECALL. THE LETTER DID NOT SEEM THAT URGENT, BUT I FIGURED I WOULD HAVE TIME TO GET TO THE DEALER IN A WEEK OR SO. LETTER STATED THAT THIS WAS MY SECOND NOTICE AND WAS DATED 03/2008. IT WAS THE ONLY LETTER I RECEIVED FROM FORD MOTOR CO. *TR
UPON STARTING THE ENGINE, OEM SPARK PLUG (MOTORCRAFT PLATINUM AWSF 22E) CAME APART AND WAS EJECTED FROM CYLINDER ON 2000 FORD F-150 5.4L ENGINE. EJECTION OF SPARK PLUG DAMAGED SPARK MODULE. SPARK PLUG SEPARATED INTO TWO PARTS WITH CENTER ELECTRODE BEING EJECTED BUT LEAVING THE THREADED PORTION OF THE PLUG INSIDE THE SPARK PLUG HOLE. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 FORD F-150. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED AT A SHOPPING CENTER, THE CONTACT SMELLED SMOKE. HE IMMEDIATELY OPENED THE HOOD AND NOTICED FLAMES. HE EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE WITH AN EXTINGUISHER. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL PRIOR TO THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS RELATED TO THE CRUISE CONTROL ACTIVATOR DEVICE. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS NOT CALLED TO THE SCENE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO HIS RESIDENCE, AND HAS NOT BEEN DIAGNOSED BY A MECHANIC. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 70,000.
MY TRUCK WAS PARKED IN FRONT OF MY HOUSE WHEN IT BURST INTO FLAMES. I CALLED 911, THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS SENT OUT AND THEY PUT OUT THE FIRE. THE TRUCK IS BURNED BEYOND RECOGNITION. *TR

WITHIN 20 MINUTES, THE FLAMES WERE 15 FEET HIGH, CAUSING DAMAGE TO THE HOME AND LANDSCAPING. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT ARRIVED AND STATED THAT THE FIRE POSSIBLY ORIGINATED FROM THE VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL. HE CALLED FORD AND WAS NOTIFIED OF A RECALL THAT DID NOT INCLUDE HIS VIN, ALTHOUGH THE CONTACT FEELS THAT IT SHOULD BE INCLUDED. THE RECALL NUMBER WAS UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 120,000.
2000 FORD F-150 BURST INTO FLAMES WHILE PARKED IN MY DRIVEWAY ON MAY 15TH AT 3:30 PM. VEHICLE WAS NOT RUNNING, NO KEY IN THE IGNITION, HAD NOT BEEN STARTED OR DRIVEN ON SAID DATE. *TR

THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 136,000.
BROKEN FUEL TANK STRAP. LOOKED AT MY TRUCK FUEL TANK HANGING LOW. LOOKED UNDERSIDE FRONT FUEL TANK STRAP GONE. I HAD ABOUT 20 GALLONS IN TANK, OR 3/4 FULL. I WAS ABOUT TO HEAD TO FAMILY'S HOUSE 25 MILES AWAY WHEN NOTICED,. THIS WAS ON A SATURDAY MORNING. WENT TO FORD DEALER, THEY HAD BOTH STRAPS IN STOCK. REPLACED BOTH STRAPS. TOOK ABOUT 30 MINUTES TO REPLACE. *TR
WHILE DRIVING HOME FROM WORK ON A TWO LANE HIGHWAY, I STARTED TO BRAKE AT AROUND 45 MPH FOR A SLOWING VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME. THE TRUCK STARTED BUCKING AND SHAKING VIOLENTLY. LUCKILY, I MANAGED TO TURN INTO A GAS STATION THAT WAS RIGHT THERE AND STOP. I GOT OUT AND LOOKED TO SEE THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE TIE ROD WAS BROKEN. *TR

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT RECEIVED A FORD RECALL NOTICE IN 2005 FOR THE VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL: CRUISE CONTROL. HE CALLED THE DEALER TO HAVE THE VEHICLE REPAIRED AND THEY DISCONNECTED THE SPEED CONTROL BECAUSE THE PARTS WERE UNAVAILABLE. FORD NEVER INFORMED THE CONTACT OF WHEN THE PARTS WOULD ARRIVE. IN MARCH OF 2008, HE WAS AWAKENED BY A LOUD EXPLOSION AND NOTICED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS COMPLETELY ENGULFED IN FLAMES. THE GARAGE SUSTAINED PROPERTY DAMAGE. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT STATED THAT THE FIRE ORIGINATED UNDERNEATH THE HOOD AND A REPORT WAS FILED. FORD WOULD NOT PROVIDE HIM WITH ANY ASSISTANCE. THE VIN, ENGINE SIZE, NUMBER OF CYLINDERS, AND RECALL NUMBER WERE UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 120,000.
ME AND MY FAMILY WAS AT THE STORE, I WENT IN TO GET WHAT WE NEEDED, AND MY FAMILY WAS IN THE TRUCK. THE TRUCK WAS TURNED OFF, THEN MY WIFE SAW SMOKE COMING FROM UNDER THE HOOD, SHE GOT OUT TO GET ME WHILE MY SON GOT MY DAUGHTER OUT SAFELY, WITHIN SECONDS THE TRUCK WAS IN FLAMES. A COMPLETE LOSS. THE VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY BEING DIAGNOSED BY THE INSURANCE COMPANY. THERE WERE NO WARNING LIGHTS; HOWEVER, THE PASSENGER SIDE WINDSHIELD WIPER STOPPED WORKING THE PREVIOUS NIGHT. THE CONTACT THOUGHT THE FAILURE WAS DUE TO THE SNOW ON THE WIPERS, BUT AFTER THEY WERE CLEANED, THE WIPER FAILED TO OPERATE. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 118,000.
PAINT BLISTERING OFF ALUMINUM HOOD. TWO SPOTS WHERE THE HOOD MEETS THE GRILL ABOUT THE SIZE OF MY XL FIST AND GROWING. UNDER THE HOOD AROUND THE EDGES SHOWING SIGNS OF BLISTERING. WASHING THE HOOD (NOT POWER WASHING -- BY HAND) DISLODGED ALL THE PAINT OFF IN THESE AREAS AND NOW IS DOWN TO PITTED ALUMINUM. *TR
WHILE TURNING OFF MAJOR THOROUGH-FARE, TIE-ROD SEPARATED FROM THE WHEEL CAUSING LOSS OF CONTROL. TRUCK SKIDDED TO A STOP. I WAS FORTUNATE IT OCCURRED IN A PARKING LOT AND NOT INTO ON-COMING TRAFFIC. THIS IS THE 2ND ROD TO BREAK ON THE F-150 IN THE PAST 18 MONTHS. *TR
IN FEBRUARY OF 2008 I WAS DRIVING MY 2000 FORD F150 TO WORK AFTER COMPLETELY REFILLING THE FUEL TANK. AS I APPROACHED THE REAR GATE AT WORK I CROSSED A SET OF RAILROAD TRACKS AND HEARD A LOT BANG AND A DRAGGING SOUND UPON CLEARING THE TRACKS. I STOPPED AND FOUND THE FUEL TANK HAD COMPLETELY DETACHED ITSELF FROM THE TRUCK AND FELL TO THE GROUND. THE TRUCK WAS TOWED TO A LOCAL REPAIR SHOP WERE UPON THEY FOUND THE STRAPS COMPLETELY CORRODED. THE FUEL TANK AND STRAPS WERE REPLACED AND REPAIRED (NOT AT A FORD DEALER). I AM WRITING THIS COMPLAINT AFTER READING SEVERAL ARTICLES ABOUT FUEL TANK PROBLEMS AND A POSSIBLE PROBE. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 FORD F-150. ON FEBRUARY 10, 2009, THE VEHICLE CAUGHT FIRE WHILE PARKED. THE FIRE ORIGINATED UNDERNEATH THE HOOD. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT ISSUED CASE NUMBER 09-0000089 AND STATED THAT THE FIRE WAS CAUSED BY THE ELECTRICAL WIRING CLUSTER. A REPORT WAS FILED WITH THE MANUFACTURER AND THEY STATED THAT THE CONTACT WOULD RECEIVE A PACKAGE WITHIN 15 BUSINESS DAYS. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 200,000.
MY WINDOW ON MY FORD F150 WAS LEAKING. WATER LEAKED INTO THE CAB AND INTO THE GEM AND FUSEBOX. FIRST, MY FAN STAYED ON AFTER THE KEY WAS REMOVED. THEN A BUZZING SOUND CAME FROM AROUND THE FUSEBOX. THEN A BEEPING SOUND STARTED COMING FROM AROUND THE FUSEBOX. LASTLY I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY AND THE WHOLE TRUCK BEGAN SHAKING. IT WAS HARD TO DISTINGUISH WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS, FLAT TIRE, BROKEN AXLE? I PARKED THE TRUCK, AND WENT TO START IT AGAIN, AND THE SAME SHUDDERING CAME FROM THE ENGINE. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS. I BEGAN LOOKING ON THE INTERNET AND FOUND THAT MANY PEOPLE WITH F150'S, EXPEDITIONS, NAVIGATORS, ETC WERE ALL HAVING THIS PROBLEM FROM YEARS 97-03. HAVE EXPERIENCE ELECTRICAL PROBLEM FOR YEARS. A BLOWER CONTINUES TO RUN EVEN WHEN THE VEHICLE IS TURNED OFF, CAUSING THE RADIO AND WINDSHIELD WIPERS NOT TO WORK PROPERLY. *TR
ENGINE EJECTED SPARK PLUG TWICE IN ONE MONTH (TWO DIFFERENT PLUGS) INCIDENTALLY THE SPARK PLUGS HAD NOT RECENTLY BEEN CHANGED SO IT WASN'T AN OVERTIGHTENING PROBLEM. I HAD CHECKED HE TORQUE ON THE SPARKS ABOUT A MONTH BEFORE THE INCIDENTS AND THEY WERE TORQUED TO THE FACTORY SPECS. *TR
OUR RV SEEMED SLUGGISH ON GOING UP ON HILLS, THEN SUDDEN ENGINE FAILURE WHILE GOING UPHILL ON HWY 77 IN WV. TOWED TO A LARGE AAA REPAIR CENTRE, WHERE THEY LOOKED INTO SOME SPARK PLUGS AND PULLED 5 OUT, ONE OF WHICH WAS SO BADLY DAMAGED, FLATTENED WITH TWISTED THREADS, THEY DETERMINED IT NEEDS A NEW ENGINE. HAD IT TOWED AGAIN DEC. 26 TO AN AUTHORIZED FORD DEALER. THEY INSPECTED THE ENGINE AND FOUND A HOLE IN ONE OF THE PISTONS. REPAIR WOULD BE NEW ENGINE ASSEBLY. NOT ONE THAT HAS SEEN THE SPARK PLUG AND KNOW THE MILES (29,500) ON THIS RV BELIEVE THAT THIS COULD OR SHOULD HAPPEN. IT NEEDS TO BE TOWED AGAIN TO A CAPABLE REPAIR SHOP, WHICH SEEMS TO BE EXTREMELY HARD TO FIND. FORDS MOTOR COMPANY ANSWER IS THAT WARRANTY TIME IS OVER, FIX IT AND PAY FOR IT. APPRX. ESTIMATES ARE $6000.00 - 7000.00. THIS JUST HAPPENING BEFORE CHRISTMAS INVOLVES SO MANY PERSONAL HARDSHIPS, INCLUDING 19 HOUR BUS TRIP GOING NORTH, CANCELLATIONS OF SO MANY RESERVATIONS, INCLUDING AIRLINE TICKETS. THIS IS FAR FROM BEING OVER, AND THE REPAIR COSTS ARE UNBELIEVABLE AND WE ARE NOT READY FOR AND WE HAVE NO IDEA WHERE IT IS GOING TO BE REPAIRED. EVERYONE SEEMS TO THINK THAT IT MUST BE AN ORIGINAL MANUFACTURING DEFECT THAT THERE IS NO OTHER ANSWER TO HAVE A HOLE IN AT LEAST ONE PISTON AND HAVE THAT LOSE METAL PIECE SOMEWHERE IN THE ENGINE MAYBE CAUSING MORE DAMAGE IF THE WHOLE ENGINE IS NOT CHANGED. WE ARE HELPLESS AND FAR AWAY FROM OUR RV. *TR
I WENT TO START MY CAR ONE NIGHT AND THE KEY WOULD NOT FIT IN THE IGNITION. MY COUSIN HAS TRIED WORKING ON IT AND HE CAN'T EVEN GET THE OLD IGNITION SWITCH OUT OF THE CAR TO REPLACE IT WITH A NEW ONE. I HAVE BEEN OUT OF A CAR FOR A WEEK AND AFTER RESEARCHING FOUND THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM THAT FORD HAS NOT FIXED. I FIND THIS UNACCEPTABLE. *TR
