WE EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE WITH A 1 3/4 HOSE FROM THE FRONT BUMPER. MY F-150 WAS PARKED IN THE PARKING LOT OF A SHOPPING MALL FOR APPROX. THREE HRS. WHEN IT CAUGHT ON FIRE AND TOTALED TWO OTHER CARS THAT WERE ALSO PARKED ALONG SIDE OF MY TRUCK. MY F-150 WAS PARKED FOR A LENGTH OF TIME WITH NO ONE INSIDE WHEN IT JUST WENT ABLAZE. MY TRUCK HAS BEEN TOTALED ALONG WITH THE OTHER TWO CARS. FORD HAD BEEN NOTIFIED AND NOTHING HAD BEEN DONE. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 FORD F-150. WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH, THE METAL BRAKE LINE TO THE REAR BRAKES RUSTED THROUGH AND BEGAN SQUIRTING BRAKE FLUID EVERYWHERE. THE BRAKES EXTENDED TO THE FLOOR WHEN DEPRESSED AND WOULD NOT WORK PROPERLY. HE WAS ABLE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE HOME AND REPAIRED THE BRAKE LINE HIMSELF. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 FORD F150. WHILE DRIVING 10 MPH, THE FUEL TANK FELL FROM THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE OCCURRED APPROXIMATELY FIVE MINUTES AFTER HE FILLED THE FUEL TANK. AS OF NOVEMBER 5, 2007, THE DEALER HAD NOT INSPECTED THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT FELT THAT THE RUSTED STRAPS THAT HELD THE FUEL TANK CAUSED THE FAILURE. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 104,000. THE CONTACT CANNOT PASS A SAFETY INSPECTION BECAUSE THE HORN IS UNPLUGGED DUE TO THE CRUISE CONTROL DEACTIVATION. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 111,000. THE CONSUMER STATED THE SPEED CONTROL DEACTIVATION SWITCH LEAKED BRAKE FLUID ON THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONS AND DESTROYED THE WIRING TO THE SPEED CONTROL AND HORN CONNECTIONS AND FURTHER STATED FORD REFUSES TO REPAIR DAMAGED COMPONENTS. MY TRUCK WAS BEING SERVICED AT THE FORD DEALERSHIP FOR A TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS,WHILE THERE I WAS INFORMED OF RECALL AND THAT THEY WOULD REPAIR IT. FIVE DAYS LATER WHILE WAITING FOR MY VEHICLE, I CALLED TO FIND OUT WHY IT WAS TAKING SO LONG, I WAS INFORMED MY TRUCK CAUGHT FIRE AND THEY DIDN'T KNOW WHY. WHEN I HAD SPOKE WITH TECHNICIANS THE DAY AFTER IT WAS DROPPED OFF THEY SAID THEY HAD ALREADY FIXED A CRUISE CONTROL PROBLEM. AND ON THE NEXT DAY THEY WILL FIX TRANSMISSION. A DAY LATER IT'S TOTALED BY A FIRE, AND THAT THEY HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH IT, NOR DID THEY DO ANY TYPE OF WORK AFTER I DROPPED IT OFF. THAT WAS MY ONLY SOURCE OF TRANSPORTATION, MY WORK, AND LIFE. *TR

SPARK PLUGS THAT WERE SUPPOSED TO LAST 100,000 MILES ( MOTORCRAFT PLATINUM) LASTED UNDER 55,000 MILES. THE PLUG SEPARATED FROM THE INSULATOR, ONE EVEN DISINTEGRATED, CAUSING MISSES IN THE ENGINE AND ALL THE WIRES TO THE PLUGS TO MELT AND ADHERE TO WHAT WAS LEFT OF THE PLUGS. 6 PLUGS - 6 CYLINDERS. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT'S SPOUSE OWNS A 2000 FORD F150. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED AND THEY KEY WAS REMOVED FROM THE IGNITION, IT CAUGHT FIRE ON THE DRIVER SIDE UNDERNEATH THE HOOD. A MECHANIC AND THE FIRE DEPARTMENT STATED THAT THE FIRE ORIGINATED FROM THE CRUISE CONTROL WIRING. THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED AND STATED THAT THEY COULD NOT ASSIST BECAUSE THE CONTACT DID NOT TAKE THE VEHICLE IN TO HAVE THE RECALL REPAIRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT SHE NEVER RECEIVED THE RECALL NOTICE BECAUSE SHE MOVED SEVERAL TIMES SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED. THERE IS A FIRE AND POLICE REPORT, BUT THE CONTACT DOES NOT HAVE THEM IN HER POSSESSION. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 90,759.
TL*THE CONTACT'S SPOUSE OWNS A 2000 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT IN HER SPOUSE'S ATTEMPT TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE, HE NOTICED THAT HALF OF THE TOW BAR WAS LYING ON THE GROUND AND THE OTHER HALF WAS STILL ATTACHED TO THE VEHICLE. HE WIGGLED THE PIECE THAT WAS STILL ATTACHED AND IT IMMEDIATELY FELL TO THE GROUND. THE ENTIRE TOW BAR WAS RUSTED. THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 60,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 54,000.
MY 2000 FORD F150 TRUCK SUDDENLY BURST INTO FLAMES WHILE PARKED IN THE DRIVEWAY. THE FIRE WAS LOCATED UNDER THE HOOD ON THE DRIVERS SIDE. IT BURNED AND MELTED THE BRAKE FLUID RESERVOIR AND SEVERAL WIRES IN THE AREA. THERE WAS ALSO MAJOR DAMAGE DONE TO ALL OF THE PLASTIC PARTS ON TOP OF AND AROUND THE MOTOR. *JB

PURCHASED A 2000 FORD F150 PICKUP TRUCK ABOUT 3 MONTHS AGO, AND ON AUGUST 12,2007 APPROX. 10 :00 P.M. MY HUSBAND AND I WERE ALERTED BY OUR 8 YEAR OLD SON THAT HE SMELLED SMOKE AND SOMETHING BURNING. MY HUSBAND CHECKED THE UPSTAIRS ROOMS W/ NO SIGNS SO WENT DOWNSTAIRS AND OPENED THE DOOR TO THE GARAGE AND SAW THE TRUCK ENGINE ON FIRE! HE YELLED FOR US TO GET OUT BECAUSE THE TRUCK WAS ON FIRE SO I GRABBED MY 9 MONTH OLD AND BY THE TIME WE ALL GOT OUT, THE GARAGE DOORS ALREADY BURNED OFF! OUR HOUSE WAS COMPLETELY DESTROYED...WE LOST EVERYTHING. *JB

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 FORD F-150. ON JULY 21, 2007, THE CONTACT'S HUSBAND NOTICED SMOKE BILLOWING PAST THE WINDOW OF THEIR RESIDENCE. THE CONTACT WENT OUTSIDE TO FIND THE DRIVER SIDE OF HER VEHICLE ENGULFED IN FLAMES. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. PRIOR TO THE FIRE, THE VEHICLE WAS LAST DRIVEN AT APPROXIMATELY 4PM THE PREVIOUS DAY. THE FIRE ALSO MELTED THE PAINT ON ONE OF HER OTHER VEHICLES AS WELL AS THE WINDOWS ON THE GARAGE DOOR. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 120,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 FORD F150. WHILE THE VEHICLE IS PARKED, THE HORN WILL ACTIVATE AND THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS WORK INTERMITTENTLY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD START AUTOMATICALLY AND SHE WOULD HAVE TO DISCONNECT THE BATTERY TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE HAS OCCURRED AT LEAST EIGHT TIMES. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE FORD DEALER ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS AND THEY REPLACED THE PARTS, BUT THE FAILURES STILL OCCUR. THE MILEAGE INFORMATION WAS UNAVAILABLE.

SHE PULLED OVER AND NOTICED THAT THE FUEL TANK ON THE PASSENGER SIDE WAS DRAGGING ON THE GROUND. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT THE STRAP FAILED AND ALSO DISCOVERED A HOLE IN THE FUEL TANK. THE DEALER REPLACED THE FUEL TANK AND THE STRAP. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 165,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT THE PLASTIC RESERVOIR FOR THE MASTER CYLINDER CAUGHT FIRE DUE TO A SPEED CONTROL DEVICE. THE DEALER REPLACED THE CRUISE CONTROL CABLE, MASTER CYLINDER AND VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL DEVICE. THE DEALER ALSO STATED THAT THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THE SPEED CONTROL. NO RECALL LISTED WITH NHTSA. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 99,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 99,368.
FORD MOTOR COMPANY IS NOT CONTACTING CURRENT VEHICLE OWNERS OF SERIOUS RECALL NOTICES. I SURRENDERED MY 2000 FORD F150 PICKUP TO BARBER FORD OF VENTURA, CALIFORNIA WHEN I TRADED IT IN FOR A NEWER MODEL. SINCE THEN, I HAVE RECEIVED NUMEROUS NOTICES ON SAFETY RECALL #05S28 FOR THIS VEHICLE. I HAVE CONTACTED FORD MOTOR COMPANY NUMEROUS TIMES AND ASKED THEM TO CONTACT THE CURRENT OWNER WITH NO RESOLUTION. I HAVE NOW RECEIVED ANOTHER NOTICE DATED JULY 2007. TODAY I CALLED THE NHTSA TO FILE A COMPLAINT THAT FORD IS NOT CONTACTING THE CURRENT OWNER OF THE VEHICLE OF A SERIOUS SAFETY RECALL PER FEDERAL REGULATION. I WAS TOLD BY YOUR STAFF THAT SHE WOULD NOT TAKE A COMPLAINT, THAT I NEEDED TO CONTACT FORD, OR THE CA ATTORNEY GENERAL'S OFFICE, OR THE FEDERAL TRADE COMMISSION. I HAVE ALREADY CONTACTED FORD NUMEROUS TIMES WITH NO RESOLUTION, WAS REFERRED BACK TO THE NHTSA BY THE CA ATTORNEY GENERAL'S OFFICE, AND REFERRED TO THE NHTSA BY THE FEDERAL TRADE COMMISSION. SO, HERE I AM, BACK TO YOU, THE NHTSA. FORD MOTOR COMPANY IS NOT COMPLYING WITH FEDERAL REGULATION AND NOBODY IS WILLING TO ENFORCE THE REGULATION, NOT EVEN THE NHTSA. ANY SUGGESTIONS????? TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE'S FUSE AND RELAY SWITCH HAD A DEFECT, WHICH CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO CATCH FIRE. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. HE STATED THAT THE COVERED PARKING AREA AT HIS PLACE OF WORK SUSTAINED PROPERTY DAMAGE. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE AND FILED A POLICE REPORT. THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN PARKED FOR 2 TO 3 HOURS BEFORE THE FAILURE OCCURRED. PRIOR TO THE FIRE, THE CONTACT HAD NOT RECEIVED RECALL NOTICE # 06E056000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE) TO DETERMINE IF HIS VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED. THE FORD DEALER CONFIRMED THAT HIS VIN WAS INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 106,000.
MY FACTORY PAINT IS BUBBLING UP AND PEELING LOOKS LIKE IT IS RUSTING. THE HOOD IS ALL ALUMINUM SO IT IS OXIDIZING. AND MORE AND MORE PAINT IS COMING OFF. *TR
VEHICLE: 2000 FORD F150 W/123000 MI. AS I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE STREET I HEARD A NOISE FROM THE BACK OF THE TRUCK. I LOOKED IN THE MIRROR AND SAW THE SPARE TIRE,WHICH WAS MOUNTED UNDER THE BED, BOUNCING DOWN THE STREET. I STOPPED AND RETRIEVED IT AND THE HARDWARE. LUCKILY, NO ONE ELSE HIT THE TIRE AND NO DAMAGE WAS DONE. HOWEVER, SEVERE VEHICLE DAMAGE, SERIOUS INJURY, OR EVEN DEATH COULD HAVE OCCURRED DUE TO THIS INCIDENT. UPON FURTHER EXAMINATION OF THE MOUNT I FOUND THAT THE CABLE THAT SECURES THE TIRE WAS SNAPPED OFF. I HAD THE VEHICLE FOR THE 42,000 MILES AND HAD NOT ONCE USED THE SPARE. NOWHERE IN ANY VEHICLE MANUAL DOES IT SAY TO MAINTAIN OR REPLACE THE CABLE AFTER A CERTAIN NUMBER OF MILES. THE CABLE IS EXPECTED TO LAST THE ENTIRE LIFE OF THE VEHICLE. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE. A 2000 F150 4X4 WITH FOUR WHEEL ABS. MY MOTHER WAS DRIVING THE TRUCK AND WHEN SHE PARKED IN HER DRIVEWAY SHE HEARD A STEADY LOW TONED CLICKING SOUND FROM UNDER THE HOOD.
