I WAS DRIVING MY FORD F-150 AT AROUND 60 MILES AN HOUR WHEN THE RUBBER PEALED OFF MY GENERAL GRABBER AW TIRE. AS A RESULT IT CAUSED ME TO SWERVE AND ALMOST RESULTED IN AN ACCIDENT. MY REAR FENDER WAS SEVERELY DAMAGED AS WELL AS MY REAR LIGHT. I HAVE PRIMEWELL VALERA TIRES ON THE FRONT AND THEY ARE CRACKING. I PURCHASED ALL TIRES AT FIRESTONE. OF COURSE, WHEN BRINGING THE COMPLAINT TO FIRESTONE THEY SAY I HAVE TO CALL THE MANUFACTURER SINCE THEY DO NOT DISTRIBUTE THAT NAME BRAND.
I REPAIRED A TIRE THAT HAD A NAIL WITHIN AN INCH OR LESS DISTANCE TO THE SIDEWALL. I LET MY SERVICE/SHOP MANAGER KNOW ABOUT THE SITUATION AND HE TOLD ME TO DO THE REPAIR ANYWAY, WHICH I DID. THE TIRE REPAIR FAILED AND THE TIRE ENDED UP GOING FLAT. ALL I KNOW IS THEY HAD ME BREAK IT DOWN FOR INSPECTION BUT THE PATCH DID SEEM TO BE ON THE SURFACE PROPERLY. THERE ARE NO POSTERS ON HOW TO DO THE TIRE REPAIR PROPERLY NOR ARE THERE ANY METHODS OF DOUBLE CHECKING THE REPAIR AFTER THE TIRE WAS COMPLETE. I DO WHAT US ASKED OF ME AND FOLLOW THE PROCEDURES OF THE SHOP BUT I FEEL THEY WERE INSUFFICIENT IN PROVIDING PROPER PROCEDURE IN TIRE REPAIR AND VERIFICATION PROCESSES. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 F150 WITH GOODYEAR WRANGLER TIRES, LINE SIZE LP265/70/R17. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TIRES WERE PURCHASED AS A REPLACEMENT. WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH AND APPLYING THE BRAKES FOR A TRAFFIC STOP, THE DRIVERS SIDE TIRE WENT FLAT. THE TIRE WAS REPLACED WITH A SPARE. THE FOLLOWING DAY THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE REAR PASSENGER TIRE WAS ALSO FLAT. THE CONTACT DISCOVERED THAT THE SIDE WALLS WERE WEARING, CAUSING THEM TO GO FLAT PREMATURELY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND INFORMED HIM THAT THE WARRANTY WAS EXPIRED AND THEY WERE UNABLE TO ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 150,000.

THE CONTACT PULLED THE VEHICLE OVER AND CALLED THE POLICE. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE DEALER ADVISED HIM TO PLACE THE SPARE TIRE ON THE VEHICLE. SHE FEELS THAT THE DEALER SHOULD REPLACE THE TIRE EVEN THOUGH THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED AS IS. THE DOT NUMBER WAS UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 106,000.
THE TREAD ON A TIRE FAILED FOR THE SECOND TIME. THE TREAD PEELED OFF AND CAUSED DAMAGE TO MY BUMPER, AIR CONDITIONER, WASHING FLUID RESVERVOIR, SPARE TIRE AND HEADLIGHT/FOGLIGHTS ON PASSENGER SIDE OF VEHICLE. *TR
VEHICLE: 2000 FORD F150 W/123000 MI. AS I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE STREET I HEARD A NOISE FROM THE BACK OF THE TRUCK. I LOOKED IN THE MIRROR AND SAW THE SPARE TIRE,WHICH WAS MOUNTED UNDER THE BED, BOUNCING DOWN THE STREET. I STOPPED AND RETRIEVED IT AND THE HARDWARE. LUCKILY, NO ONE ELSE HIT THE TIRE AND NO DAMAGE WAS DONE. HOWEVER, SEVERE VEHICLE DAMAGE, SERIOUS INJURY, OR EVEN DEATH COULD HAVE OCCURRED DUE TO THIS INCIDENT. UPON FURTHER EXAMINATION OF THE MOUNT I FOUND THAT THE CABLE THAT SECURES THE TIRE WAS SNAPPED OFF. I HAD THE VEHICLE FOR THE 42,000 MILES AND HAD NOT ONCE USED THE SPARE. NOWHERE IN ANY VEHICLE MANUAL DOES IT SAY TO MAINTAIN OR REPLACE THE CABLE AFTER A CERTAIN NUMBER OF MILES. THE CABLE IS EXPECTED TO LAST THE ENTIRE LIFE OF THE VEHICLE. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE. I AM AFRAID TO FOLLOW BEHIND ANY FORD TRUCKS BECAUSE AT ANY MOMENT ANOTHER OF THESE CABLES COULD SNAP. THIS IS NOT A WARRANTY ISSUE. FORD REFUSED TO CORRECT THIS PROBLEM AS IT IS OUT OF WARRANTY. THE CABLE SIMPLY SHOULD NOT BREAK. THE COST QUOTED BY FORD WAS ABOUT $200 TO FIX THIS. FORD NEEDS TO TAKE CARE OF THIS AT ITS OWN EXPENSE. THIS IS A DEFECTIVE PART THAT COULD CAUSE DAMAGE, SERIOUS INJURY, OR DEATH TO INNOCENT MOTORISTS, NOT TO MENTION MENTAL ANGUISH IMPOSED UPON THE DRIVER OR OWNER OF THE DEFECTIVE VEHICLE. I HAVE ALREADY DEALT WITH MY LOCAL FORD DEALER, THE FORD DISTRICT MANAGER, AND FORD MOTOR COMPANY'S CUSTOMER CARE DEPARTMENT, AND HAVE RECEIVED ABSOLUTELY NO HELP. I WAS TOLD THE TIRE WAS DAMAGED BEFORE IT EXPERIENCED THE FAILURE. I HAVE HAD THE TIRES FOR APPROXIMATELY THREE YEARS AND WHILE THERE WAS A MINIMUM OF TREAD LIFE REMAINING, THERE WAS TREAD LIFE REMAINING (APPROXIMATELY 6 MON.). WHEN I TOOK THE TIRE TO THE COOPER TIRE DEALER, I WAS TOLD THE FAILURE WAS NOT NORMAL. I HAVE PICTURES OF THE FAILED TIRE. I HAD TO PAY FOR THE REPLACEMENT TIRE. THE COOPER TIRE CORPORATE REPRESENTATIVE PRESENTED HERSELF AND HER COMPANY AS NOT AT FAULT IN THIS CASE. I AM NOT CONCERNED ABOUT HAVING TO PAY FOR THE REPLACEMENT TIRE, I SIMPLY WANTED THIS ON RECORD IN CASE OTHERS EXPERIENCE SIMILAR INCIDENTS. *NM
WHILE DRIVING 2000 F250 SUPERDUTY FORD PICK UP, TIRE CAME APART AT 65 MPH. STOCK ALUMINUM WHEEL DISTROYED. PROBLEM IS THE JACK BROKE WHILE TRYING TO CHANGE TIRE. SECOND TIME USED. FORD DEALER SAID JACK NOT ANY GOOD AND NOT WARRENED. I CAN FORSEE THAT A PERSON HURT USEING JACK.

AT 70MPH ON I-81 SOUTH OF MARTINSBURG, WV THE TIRE BLEW OUT WITH AN EXPLOSIVE BANG THAT LIFTED THE BACK END OF THE TRUCK INTO THE AIR. TRUCK WAS STOPPED WITHOUT INCIDENT OR INJURY. NO ROAD DEBRIS WERE NOTED PRIOR TO THE BLOW OUT. TIRES HAD LESS THAN 10,000 MILEAGE. PLEASE NOTE YOUR DROP DOWN MENU DID NOT OFFER THE CORRECT TIRE SIZE. TIRE SIZE IS CORRECT IN THIS NARRATIVE.
GOODYEAR, WRANGLER RTS, P255/70R16, DOT#4BCUC6WR1200. THESE TIRES WERE ON THE VEHICLE WHEN PURCHASED FROM THE DEALER BRAND NEW. CURRENTLY, THE SAME TIRES DEVELOPED SLITS ON THE INNER SIDEWALLS. THIS DEFECT WAS DISCOVERED WHEN THE TIRES WERE BEING ROTATED. CONSUMER LATER CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURER, WHO REFERRED THE CONSUMER TO ANOTHER TIRE DISTRIBUTOR, WHO WAS OF NO ASSISTANCE. *AK *JB
I HAVE A 2000 F150 FORD P/U WITH GOOD YEAR WRANGLER RT/S TIRES. THE SIDEWALLS HAVE 2-3 SLITS/CRACKS ON EACH TIRE. THESE SLITS ARE ABOUT 3/4-1 INCH LONG. THESE TIRES CAME STOCKED ON THE TRUCK. THEY WERE MADE THE 12TH MONTH OF 2000. I SAY THEY ARE DEFECTIVE AND A HUGH SAFTY PROBLEM. TIRE TREAD IS ABOUT ONLY HALF WORN.*AK
I HAVE A SET OF GOODYEAR WRANGLER AP TIRES ON MY VEHICLE. THEY ARE SUPPOSE TO HAVE A TRACTION RATING OF A, BUT I BELIEVE THIS IS INCORRECT. BASED ON MY EXPERIENCE WITH THESE TIRES OVER THE PAST 24,000 MILES, TRACTION IS VERY POOR WITH THESE TIRES ON WET AND DRY SURFACES. THEY BREAK TRACTION VERY EASILY, EVEN DURING SLOW ACCELERATION STARTS. SUDDEN STOPS ON WET SURFACES ARE JUST AS POOR.

I DID NOT WRECK BUT I REALLY HAD TO FIGHT TO KEEP IT ON THE ROAD UNTIL I COULD STOP. THE TIRE IS IN TWO PIECES. THE FIRESTONE STORE IN PENSACOLA, FLORIDA SAID THE TIRE IS NOT ONE OF THEIR RECALLS. HOWEVER, I UNDERSTAND THESE SAME TIRES ON THE EXCURSIONS ARE. WHY ARE THE SAME TIRES, WHEN INSTALLED ON F250 PICKUPS, NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL? I WILL SAY, REGARDLESS OF THE OUTCOME OF THIS, I WILL NEVER, NEVER BUY ANOTHER FIRESTONE TIRE OF ANY KIND. IN FACT I HOPE THAT FIRESTONE IS PUT OUT TO PASTURE FOREVER.*AK

I HAVE A FIRESTONE RECALLED TIRE THAT THEY WON'T CORRECT. I GAVE THE BLOWN OUT RECALLED TIRE TO BALL TIRE ON 10/30/03 AND THEY HAVE REFUSED TO HONOR THE RECALL.

I AGAIN EXPLAINED THAT THE TIRE HAD INDENTATIONS ON THE SIDEWALLS CAUSED FROM SOMETHING IN HOW THE SPARE IS HELD ON UNDER THE TRUCK. I ASKED HOW THIS COULD BE CAUSED FROM A DEFECTIVE TIRE? THE FORD REPRESENTATIVE DIDN'T CARE AND GAVE ME THE NUMBER TO GENERAL TIRE. *LA
