2001 F150 CLOCK SPRING WAS REPAIRED. THE MALFUNCTION PREVENTED THE HORN AND CRUISE CONTROL FROM WORKING PROPERLY. *TS IT ALSO CAUSED A DISRUPTION OF POWER TO THE AIR BAG MODULE THUS PREVENTING DEPLOYMENT IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH. THE VEHICLE'S WARRANTY WAS FOR 60 MONTHS/75000 MILES. AT THE TIME OF REPAIR THE VEHICLE ONLY HAD 60299 MILES YET THE WARRANTY HAD EXPIRED TEN DAYS EARLIER. A MONTH BEFORE THE FAILURE THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR THE FORD RECALL REPAIR OF THE CRUISE CONTROL. THE CONSUMER INQUIRED ABOUT THE AIR BAG AND HORN AT THAT TIME AND WAS TOLD THAT THE PROBLEM WAS UNRELATED TO THE RECALL. THE CONSUMER WAS ALSO TOLD TO RETURN WITH THE TRUCK AT A LATER TIME BECAUSE THEY DIDN'T HAVE TIME TO REPAIR THAT ITEM RIGHT THEN. *NM
I BELIEVE THE 2001 FORD SEAT-BELT RECALL WAS INADEQUATE AND THE LATCHES ARE CONTINUING TO BREAK INTERNALLY. I AM RESPECTFULLY REQUESTING THAT ALL THE LATCHES BE REPLACED. MY REASONING IS AS FOLLOWS: I OWN A 2001 FORD F150. IN 2001 I TOOK IT IN FOR THE SEAT-BELT RECALL. FORD REPLACED ONE LATCH (THE DRIVERS BELT LATCH). LAST WEEK THE LATCH ON MY SON'S SEAT BELT FAILED. THE LATCH BROKE INTERNALLY. I WENT TO THE DEALERSHIP TO HAVE THE LATCH REPLACED UNDER THE RECALL. I TOLD THEM THEIR SEAT BELT LATCHES WERE FAILING. THEY TOLD ME THERE WAS NO OPEN RECALL ON THE VEHICLE. I WAS TOLD BY THE FORD MOTOR COMPANIES CUSTOMER SERVICE PERSON THAT THE SEAT-BELTS ARE ONLY WARRANTED FOR 5 YEARS/50,000 MILES. MY TRUCK HAS 55,000 MILES ON IT. I TOLD THEM SEAT-BELTS SHOULD NEVER FAIL. HE TOLD ME SEAT-BELTS DO FAIL AND HE HAS SEEN THEM FALL APART BEFORE (THE CONVERSATION MAY HAVE BEEN RECORDED FOR QUALITY PURPOSES). FORD IS TAKING THE POSITION THAT IF ONE OF MY FAMILY MEMBERS DIES DUE TO A SEAT BELT FAILURE THAT IT IS NOT THEIR PROBLEM SINCE THEIR SEAT BELTS ARE ONLY WARRANTED FOR 5 YEARS/50,0000 MILES. THAT IS NOT ACCEPTABLE. TO DATE 40% OF THE SEAT BELT LATCHES IN MY VEHICLE HAVE FAILED (I HAVE 5 LATCHES IN MY VEHICLE 2 HAVE FAILED). FORD IS FAILING TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE DEFECTIVE SEAT-BELTS AND JEOPARDIZING THE LIVES OF MILLIONS OF PEOPLE. FURTHERMORE THEY ARE NOT TELLING NEW CAR BUYERS THAT THEIR SEAT-BELTS ARE ONLY WARRANTED FOR 5 YEARS/50,000 MILES. NOR ARE THEY PROVIDING ANY KIND OF CONSUMER INFORMATION CONCERNING RECOMMENDED REPLACEMENT/MAINTENANCE FOR THE SEAT-BELTS. WOKE UP IN THE MORNING TO TRUCK ON FIRE..CALLED THE FIRE DEPARTMENT RIGHT AWAY AS VEHICLE WAS PARKED CLOSE TO HOME THEY WERE ABLE TO PUT IT OUT...THANKFULLY ONLY DAMAGE OUTSIDE OF VEHICLE WAS TO THE PAVERS ON DRIVEWAY..DID CALL FORD COMPANY AND MY NAME WAS NOT EVEN LISTED AS OWNER OF VEHICLE...OLD OWNER WAS...PROBABLY WHY I NEVER RECEIVED THE RECALL NOTICE. *NM
I OWN A 2001 FORD F150 LARIET OFF ROAD PICK UP TRUCK WITH A SUPERCAB. THE REAR SEATS IN THE TRUCK DO NOT HAVE ANY HEADRESTS. MY SEVEN YEAR OLD DAUGHTER CONSTANTLY HITS HER HEAD ON THE REAR WINDOW BECAUSE THERE IS NO HEADREST. I AM VERY CONCERNED ABOUT WHAT COULD HAPPEN TO HER IF MY VEHICLE WAS STRUCK FROM THE REAR WITH HER IN THAT SEAT. I CAN'T ALLOW HER TO SIT IN THE FRONT SEAT AS OF YET AND CAN'T FIND ANY HEADREST ALTERNATIVES TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. I BELIEVE THAT THIS WAS A POOR DESIGN BY FORD AND I THINK THEY KNOW IT TOO SINCE ALL OF THE NEWER MODELS HAVE REAR HEADRESTS. I NEVER EVEN THOUGHT ABOUT IT UNTIL AFTER I PURCHASED THE TRUCK. I JUST THOUGHT YOU SHOULD BE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM AND WONDERED IF YOU HAD ANY SIMILAR COMPLAINTS. THANKS! *NM
THE DRIVER'S SEAT BELT IN MY CAR UNLATCHES BY ITSELF. I CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURER OF THE TRUCK, AND THEY SAY MY TRUCK MODEL IS NOT INCLUDED ON THE RECALL. THIS HAVE BEEN GOING ON FOR ABOUT A YEAR, SINCE I FIRST GOT THE TRUCK IN MARCH 2005. IT HAPPENS ALMOST EVERYDAY, WHEN I LEAST EXPECT IT. *JB
MY 2001 FORD F150 XLT CREW CAB EJECTED A SPARK PLUG ON 03-03-06. THE EJECTED SPARK PLUG CAME FROM THE SECOND CYLINDER FROM THE FIREWALL, ON THE PASSENGERS SIDE. THE ENGINE IN THIS TRUCK IS A 5.4 TRITON. THE FUEL RAIL IS IN THE FLIGHT PATH OF THE SPARK PLUG WHEN IT BECOMES A PROJECTILE. THIS HAS THE POTENTIAL TO BECOME A MAJOR DISASTER, IF THE FUEL RAIL RUPTURES. BECAUSE WITH THE ENGINE RUNNING THE COIL ON THE SPARK PLUG CAN AND WILL IGNITE THE SPRAYING FUEL. THE CYLINDER HEADS ON THESE 5.4 TRITONS ENGINE MUST HAVE A MAJOR DEFECT AND NEEDS TO BE RECALLED BY FORD MOTOR COMPANY, AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. *JB
I NOTICED A TICKING SOUND COMING FROM MY ENGINE, SHORTLY AFTERWARDS IT BEGAN TO POP LOUDLY AFTER LEAVING AN INTERSECTION AND TRAVELING ABOUT 10-15 MPH. I HAD THE TRUCK TOWED TO A FORD DEALER AND WAS LATER INFORMED THAT A SPARK PLUG HAD BLOWN OUT AND CAUSED CONSIDERABLE DAMAGE ($4200-$5400!). *NM
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED PRIOR TO HAVING THE RECALL WORK PERFORMED, THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL STUCK. THE RECALL FOR THE CRUISE CONTROL WAS PERFORMED, BUT THE PROBLEM WITH THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL REMAINED. THIS HAPPENED AT ANY SPEED, WITHOUT THE CRUISE CONTROL ACTIVATED. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN TO A MECHANIC, BUT THE CONTACT DETERMINED THE THROTTLE CABLE IS STICKING.
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE ATTEMPTING TO PUT THE VEHICLE IN REVERSE IT WOULD NOT MOVE BACKWARD. ADDITIONALLY, WHEN PUT IN PARK THE VEHICLE WOULD ROLL. THE DEALER INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND NOTED THE PLANETARY GEAR IN THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE DEALER REBUILT THE TRANSMISSION AND CORRECTED THE PROBLEM. UPDATED 05/03/06. *JB
MY 2001 FORD F-150 CAUGHT FIRE ON FEB 21, 2006 I HAD RECEIVED A LETTER FROM FORD ABOUT THE RECALL A WEEK BEFORE THE FIRE ON FEB 13, 2006.*NM
2001 FORD F150 SUPER CREW CRUISE CONTROL ISSUES WHEN USING THE CRUISE CONTROL AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS (50-65 MPH), IF YOU ENCOUNTER AN INCLINE SUFFICIENT FOR THE TRANSMISSION TO DOWNSHIFT THE CRUISE CONTROL BEGINS TO ACCELERATE IN A RUNAWAY MODE. IT WILL NOT SHUTOFF. DURING ONE OF THESE EVENTS I ALLOWED THE VEHICLE TO CONTINUE ACCELERATING TO DETERMINE IF THE CRUISE WOULD EVENTUALLY SHUT DOWN. IT DID NOT AND I REACHED A SPEED OF OVER 90 MPH. WHEREAS THERE WAS A RECALL ON THIS VEHICLE FOR FIRES RELATED TO THE CRUISE CONTROL I WAITED UNTIL THOSE PARTS WERE AVAILABLE BEFORE MENTIONING THIS TO MY FORD DEALER. THE DEALER INSISTED THAT THE RECALL WOULD NOT FIX THIS PROBLEM. THAT IS, THE SUDDEN ACCELERATION WAS UNRELATED TO THE RECALL. ON 2/16/06 I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR THE SUDDEN ACCELERATION COMPLAINT. HE TEST DROVE THE VEHICLE AND WAS NOT ABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM SO HIS CONTENTION WAS THAT IF HE CANNOT DUPLICATE IT, IT DOES NOT EXIST. NOTHING COULD BE FURTHER FROM THE TRUTH. OUR FORD F-150 TRUCK, [XXX], CAUGHT FIRE AT 2:30 AM ON FEB 10, 2006. IT WAS PARKED BESIDE OUR HOME AND MELTED THE VINYL SIDING ON THE SIDE OF THE HOME WHERE THE FIRE STARTED. THE TRUCK WAS PARKED AND THE LAST TIME IT WAS DRIVEN WAS 8:30 PM , FEB 9, 2006. WE RECEIVED A RECALL FOR THE CRUISE CONTROL IN SEPT, 2005. THE TRUCK WAS TAKEN TO BURNS FORD IN LANCASTER, SC AND WAS DISCONNECTED IN OCT, 2005. THE DEALERSHIP DID NOT HAVE THE REPLACEMENT PART TO INSTALL, THE PART WAS TO COME IN FEB, 2006. THE TRUCK BURNED BEFORE THE REPLACEMENT WAS INSTALLED. WE HAVE TRIED TO FIND OUT THE CAUSE OF THIS FIRE BY CONTACTING FORD MOTOR COMPANY'S CONSUMER AFFAIRS DEPARTMENT. WE ARE NOT GETTING ANY RESPONSE. PICTURES WERE SENT TO FORD VIA CERTIFIED MAIL, AND A CONFIRMATION THAT THE CD WITH THE PICTURES WERE RECEIVED BY FORD ON 2-28-06. WE HAVE EMAILED FORD, LEFT VOICE MAILS TO FIND OUT THE STATUS OF THEIR INVESTIGATION AS TO THE CAUSE AND HAVE NOT BEEN CONTACTED. WE ARE EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED IN THE WAY FORD IS HANDLING THIS. DT*: THE CONTACT STATED HE IS CONCERNED ABOUT THE DESIGN OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE HAS FOUR DOORS BUT ONLY TWO DOOR HANDLES. THE BACK DOORS CANNOT BE OPENED WITHOUT OPENING THE FRONT DOORS. IF THE VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A CRASH AND THE DRIVER AND/OR FRONT PASSENGER WERE IMMOBILIZED, THE OCCUPANTS IN THE BACK SEAT WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO EXIT THE VEHICLE. UPDATED 3/9/2006 - *NM
I WAS DRIVING IN MY 2001 FORD F-150 TRUCK ON I-5 AND THE SPARK PLUG BLEW OUT OF THE V8 TRITON MOTOR AND THERE WAS A COUPLE OF FIRE BALLS THAT CAME OUT OF THE MOTOR AREA WHICH I WAS TOLD WAS THE GAS VAPOR CATCHING FIRE AFTER THE PLUG BLEW OUT OF THE MOTOR LUCKY THAT I WAS ABLE TO STOP RIGHT AWAY AND HAD WATER TO PUT IT OUT. THIS IS GOING TO KILL SOMEONE AND NOW I FIND OUT FORD HAS KNOWN ABOUT THIS PROBLEM FOR A LONG TIME. I TOOK THE TRUCK TO FORD AND THEY TOLD ME IT WAS NOT COVERED UNDER MY EXTENDED WARRANTY AND I WOULD HAVE TO PAY TO REPLACE THE WHOLE HEAD PIECE THAT THE SPARK PLUG GOES INTO BECAUSE THEY COULD NOT JUST PUT ANOTHER PLUG INTO THE MOTOR, THEY KNOW IT'S A PROBLEM AND THEY ARE NOT COVERING IT UNDER THE WARRANTIES. ONE OF THESE TRUCKS ARE GOING TO CATCH FIRE AND REALLY HURT SOMEONE. *NM
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE PULLING OUT OF A PARKING LOT GOING 5 MPH A LOUD NOISE WAS HEARD COMING FROM THE VEHICLE. AT THIS TIME THE FRONT SUSPENSION DROPPED DOWN CAUSING AN ABRUPT STOP. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP, UPON INSPECTION THE PROBLEM WAS THE PASSENGER'S FRONT LOWER BALL JOINT HAD SNAPPED OFF. REPAIRS HAVE BEEN MADE, THE MANUFACTURER HAS BEEN ALERTED. I BOUGHT A SET OF YOUR WILDERNESS AT P255/70R16/1095 M+S TIRES , THEY SEEMED FINE. ONE DAY AFTER WORK I WENT TO GET IN MY TRUCK AND THE FRONT RIGHT TIRE HAD SIMPLY COME APART, NOT WHILE I WAS DRIVING, BUT SOMETIME DURING THE DAY. I AM ASKING FOR INFORMATION ON HOW I AM TO GET THEM REPLACED. *JB
A 2001 FORD WITH A DEFECTIVE SPEED DEACTIVATION CONTROL DEVICE BURNED TO THE GROUND. MY CHEVROLET TRUCK WAS PARKED NEXT TO THE FORD, THEREFORE ALSO BURNED TO A TOTAL LOSS. *TR
MY 2001 FORD F150 RECENTLY EJECTED A SPARK PLUG. I HAVE HAD AN ONGOING PROBLEM WITH THIS TRUCK, HAVING IT IN THE REPAIR SHOP NUMEROUS TIMES. APPROX. 2 WEEKS AGO DURING NORMAL DRIVING, THE ENGINE BLEW A SPARK PLUG COMPLETELY OUT. I RECEIVED AN ESTIMATE FROM A FORD TECH. OF APPROX. $2000. I HAVE PURCHASED A KIT TO REPAIR THIS MYSELF. THE COMPANY MADE THE KIT SPECIFICALLY FOR FORD TRITON ENGINE REPAIRS, WHICH SHOWS THIS IS A MAJOR PROBLEM. I ESTIMATE THE TOTAL COST OF MY REPAIR WILL BE OVER $1000. *NM
DIFFICULTY IN SHIFTING, CLUTCH TO THE FLOOR/NON-RESPONSIVE. UPON TAKING IN TO DEALER PROBLEM WAS DUE TO CLUTCH SLAVE CYLINDER FAILURE. THIS RENDERED THE VEHICLE NON-OPERABLE. DEALER REPLACED CLUTCH SLAVE CYLINDER AND WAS AUTHORIZED TO REPLACE CLUTCH DUE TO WEAR AND LABOR INVOLVED SHOULD IT FAIL IN THE NEAR FUTURE. *JB
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE ATTEMPTING TO SHIFT FROM DRIVE TO REVERSE, THE VEHICLE MADE A CLICKING SOUND AND WOULD NOT MOVE FORWARD. THE CONTACT PHYSICALLY PUSHED THE VEHICLE INTO THE DRIVEWAY. AFTER FURTHER INSPECTION, THE CONTACT DETERMINED THE DRIVE SHAFT WAS BROKEN. THE DRIVE SHAFT BROKE IN TWO ALONG THE WELDS. THE DRIVE SHAFT WAS REMOVED AND TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE DEALER SUGGESTED SENDING THE PART TO THE MANUFACTURER FOR INSPECTION. UPDATED 2/28/2006 - *NM
THE UPPER A ARMS AND TIRE RODS ARE WORN OUT ON MY VEHICLE WHICH HAS LESS THAN 65K MILES ON THE VEHICLE. THIS MAKE NO SENSE FOR A VEHICLE WITH ONLY HIGHWAY MILES AND NO ABUSE. *NM
PRELIMINARY DATA.. FORD F150 2001 SUPERCREW WAS LEFT UNATTENDED WHILE SHOPPING. UPON RETURN I NOTED A PUDDLE OF FLUID THAT WAS NOT PRESENT EARLIER UNDER THE VEHICLE. UPON LEANING DOWN ON THE DRIVERS SIDE FRONT TO INSPECT FOR THE SOURCE OF THE LEAK SMALL FLAMES WERE NOTED IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. UPON OPENING THE HOOD FOR FURTHER INSPECTION IT WAS NOTED THAT THE REAR DRIVER SIDE OF THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT WAS ON FIRE (APPEARING TO ME AND OTHER OBSERVERS TO BE ELECTRICAL IN NATURE) WITH THE BRAKE FLUID RESERVOIR COMPLETED MELTED. THE FLAMES FIRST OBSERVED WERE FORCED BY THE MOLTEN PLASTIC DRIPPING DOWN INTO THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS NOTIFIED BUT THANKS TO SOME EMPLOYEES OF THE SHOP AND THE AVAILABILITY THERE OF AN APPROVED EXTINGUISHER, THE FIRE WAS TERMINATED BEFORE THE ARRIVAL OF THE FIRE DEPARTMENT SOME 7 MINUTES LATER. COMMENTS WERE MADE BY OTHERS AND LATER BY INTERNET RESEARCH THAT THE DAMAGE HAS ALL OF THE APPEARANCES OF BEING FORCED BY THE SPEED CONTROL DEACTIVATION SWITCH ISSUE. THE VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY UNDER EVALUATION BY A FORD DEALERSHIP AND MY INSURANCE COMPANY. FORTUNATELY THE VEHICLE WAS UNOCCUPIED AT THE TIME AND WAS IN THE MIDDLE OF A STRIP CENTER PARKING LOT WITH NO VEHICLES AROUND IT SHOULD THE FIRE HAD TIME TO DEVELOP FURTHER. EARLIER OR LATER, IT COULD HAVE EASILY CONSUMED MY HOME.*JB
I HAVE A 2001 FORD F150 WITH A 4.2L V6 ENGINE AND AT 97,500 MILES IT STARTED TO LEAK ANTIFREEZE. A MECHANIC TOLD ME THAT IT IS A PROBLEM THAT HE HAS SEEN IN MANY F150 TRUCKS WITH THE 4.2L V6. HE SAID THAT THE LOWER INTAKE GASKET AS WELL AS THE TIMING COVER GASKET HAVE TO BE REPLACED TO FIX THIS PROBLEM. *JB
THE SLAVE CYLINDER ON THE CLUTCH ASSEMBLY LEAKS MAKING THE CLUTCH INOPERABLE AND THE DRIVER UNABLE TO DISENGAGE THE TRANSMISSION. THE PROBLEM IS WELL KNOWN WITH FORD F150 OWNERS YET THERE HAS NOT BEEN A RECALL ISSUED. *NM
FORD 2001 EXPEDITION HAS RANDOM PROBLEM WITH UNCONTROLLED THROTTLE SURGE WHEN STOPPING. STARTED OUT HAPPENING ONCE EVERY 2 MONTHS AND HAS DEGRADED TO ONCE OR TWICE A WEEK. DEALER HAS RUN FULL DIAGNOSTICS AND ROAD TESTS BUT CANNOT FIND ANY PROBLEM. SUSPECT BAD COMPUTER BECAUSE MANY THINGS SURGE UP AT THE SAME TIME (SPEEDOMETER, TACK, GAUGES). WITHOUT FOOT ON BRAKE, SURGE WOULD SLAM TRUCK INTO WHATEVER IS IN FRONT OF VEHICLE. *JB
TOOK TRUCK TO DEALER AFTER HEARING LOW END TICKING SOUND AND MIL LIGHT, TOLD IT WAS TENSIONER AND MANIFOLD SPACER. PICKED UP TRUCK 8 DAYS LATER AND STILL HAD PROBLEM, RETURNED AND TOLD BY HEAD MECH. THAT IT WAS A NORMAL SOUND. DROVE HOME AND IT WAS MISSING BADLY. RETURNED WAS TOLD HAD A BAD PLUG, TRUCK IS STILL TICKING AND LOUDLY. DEALER WASHED HANDS OF PROBLEM.*JB
WHILE DRIVING MY 2001 F150 TRUCK, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I TOOK MY TRUCK TO THE GARAGE THAT DOES MY AUTO WORK. THEY TOLD ME IT WAS THE EGR PRESSURE SENSOR. THEY REPLACED THE SENSOR AT A COST OF $190.00. LATER I FOUND OUT THAT FORD HAD ISSUED A SERVICE BULLETIN TO HAVE THE SENSOR REPLACED AND THEY SENT LETTERS TO THE OWNERS TO BRING THEIR TRUCKS IN TO HAVE THE SENSOR REPLACED. SINCE I AM THE SECOND OWNER OF THE TRUCK I DID NOT RECEIVE THE LETTER AND SINCE I HAD 119,852 MILES ON THE TRUCK FORD WOULD NOT FIX IT." FORD KNEW OF THE DEFECT, WHY SHOULD I HAVE TO PAY TO HAVE A DEFECTIVE SENSOR REPLACED".*JB
RECALL OF FORD F150 PICKUP FOR UNDERHOOD CRUISE CONTROL DEFECT. THE LAST COMMUNICATION SAID THE REPAIR WOULD BE MADE BY FEB 15, 2006. THIS WAS THE THIRD DATE SET. THE DEALER DISCONNECTED MY CRUISE CONTROL AT THE MANUFACTURERS REQUEST LAST FALL. I HAVE HAD NO COMMUNICATION FROM THEM SINCE. *JB
I HAVE A 01' SVT LIGHTNING. I ALONG WITH PROBABLY HUNDREDS OTHERS ON NLOC.NET ALL REPORT PROBLEMS WITH THE STOCK GOODYEAR F1'S @ CORRECT TIRE PRESSURE. THEY ALL SPLIT THE SIDEWALL. I'VE HAD ABOUT 7 F1'S SPLIT ON MY TRUCK IN WITH IN THE PAST YEAR I'VE OWNED IT. ALL OF MY SPLITS WERE ON THE FRONT. I CAN'T SPEAK FOR ALL THE REST OF THE LIGHTNING OWNERS ON THEIR TIRE LOCATIONS. I ALSO HAD A PROBLEM WITH THOSE TIRES PULLING MY TRUCK FROM SIDE TO SIDE IN THE RUTS IN THE ROAD. I THOUGHT MAYBE IT WAS NORMAL FOR SUCH WIDE TIRES. I RUN NITTO TIRES ON IT NOW WITH NO ISSUES (SPLITTING OR PULLING) WHAT SO EVER. I NO LONGER USE ANY TYPE OF GOODYEAR TIRES ON ANY OF MY CARS AND TRUCK. KRAMER GOODYEAR TOLD ME THE LAST TIME THAT GOODYEAR IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM AND THEY'LL PRORATE ME A PRICE ON A NEW F150. AFTER THE 7TH TIME I ASKED WHY WOULD I WANT TO KEEP BUYING ANOTHER OVERPRICED F150 OVER AND OVER AGAIN THAT I KNOW WILL SPLIT SOONER OR LATER AND I'D BE RIGHT BACK IN HERE GETTING A PRORATED TIRE AGAIN? THE 295/45/18 GOODYEAR F1 IS A DEFECTIVE TIRE AND SOMEONE IF THEY HAVEN'T ALREADY ARE GOING TO BE KILLED RUNNING THESE TIRES. LIGHTNING ARE HIGH PERFORMANCE TRUCKS AND MOST PEOPLE THAT OWN THEM, RACE THEM. FORD SHOULD REALLY CANCEL THEIR RELATIONSHIP WITH GOODYEAR(NASCAR SHOULD TOO). GOODYEAR IS ALL ABOUT THE NAME AND THEIR PRODUCTS ARE JUNK. IT'S AMAZING FIRESTONE GETS IN TROUBLE BUT NOT GOODYEAR. *JB
FRONT PASSENGER SIDE SAFETY BELT LATCH DOES RELEASES AT ANY GIVEN TIME. IT ALWAYS LATCHES WITH NO PROBLEMS AND APPEARS SECURE, YET WILL COME UNDONE WHILE DRIVING. THIS LATCH RELEASES WITH EASE WHILE DRIVING AT ANYTIME. THIS HAS BECOME MORE PREVALENT NOW THAT MY KIDS ARE OLD ENOUGH TO BE IN THE FRONT SEAT. WHEN TESTING ITS SECURITY AFTER INITIALLY LATCHING, IT WILL COME UNLATCHED WHEN TUGGING ON THE STRAP HARD. THIS LATCH HAS ALREADY BEEN CHECKED FOR FOREIGN OBJECTS AND NONE WERE FOUND. THE FORD DEALERSHIP CONTINUES NOT TO CHECK FOR DEFECT WITHOUT CHARGE AND AM VERY UPSET ABOUT THAT. THEY STATE THAT MY VIN NUMBER IS NOT INCLUDED IN THIS RECALL, BUT DEFINITELY HAS THE SAME PROBLEMS AS THE OTHERS. I AM VERY CONCERNED WITH THE SAFETY NOW THAT MY KIDS ARE ABLE TO RIDE IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT. SINCE OWNERSHIP, THERE HAVE BEEN EVENTS EVERY TIME A PASSENGER SAT UP FRONT. DT: 2001 FORD F150. THE CONTACT STATED, ON OCTOBER 16, 2005 THE SPARK PLUG FLEW OUT OF HIS VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT ABLE TO BE DRIVEN AT THAT TIME. IT WAS PULLED OFF THE ROAD AND TOWED TO A LOCAL SHOP. THE MECHANIC DID NOT KNOW WHY THIS OCCURRED. ACCORDING TO FORD, THEY HAVE NOT HEARD OF THIS PROBLEM. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN FIXED AT THIS TIME. DT: THE CONTACT OWNS 2001 FORD F-150. THERE IS A CLATTERING SOUND COMING FROM THE ENGINE. UPON INSPECTION OF THE VEHICLE THE DEALER STATED THAT THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE REASON FOR REPLACEMENT WAS THAT THERE WAS A ROD KNOCKING IN THE ENGINE. THE MANUFACTURER HAS NOT BEEN CONTACTED. *AK UPDATED 11/16/05. *JB
OUR FORD F150 HAS 46,000 MILES ON IT. ON FRIDAY THE 14TH MY HUSBAND WAS DRIVING DOWN A RESIDENTIAL STREET WHEN HE HEARD A LOUD BANGING UNDER THE HOOD. HE PULLED OVER RIGHT AWAY AND THE ENGINE DIED. HE LOOKED UNDER THE HOOD AND COULD SEE THAT THE DISTRIBUTOR CAP WAS BROKEN AND FLOPPING AROUND. HE HAD A FRIEND TOW THE TRUCK TO THE FRIENDS RESIDENCE SO THAT THE TRUCK WOULDN'T BE LEFT ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. MY HUSBAND THEN CALLED A TOW COMPANY TO TOW THE TRUCK 18 MILES TO A NEARBY DEALERSHIP TO EXAMINE THE TRUCK. WE WERE TOLD THAT THE SPARK PLUG THREADS WERE STRIPPED AND THAT NEW HEADS WOULD BE REQUIRED TO REPAIR OUR TRUCK. WE WERE ALSO INFORMED THAT OUR EXTENDED WARRANTY DID NOT COVER THIS REPAIR AND THAT OUR BILL WOULD BE APPROX $3,200.00. AFTER THE TOW BILL, PARTS, LABOR AND RENTAL CAR WE ARE NOW UP TO $3,500.00 IN EXPENSES. *JB
DRIVING ALONG AND THE 4 WHEEL DRIVE JUST CAME ON AND I DIDN'T TOUCH ANYTHING. THE WHEELS FELT LIKE THEY HAD LOCKED UP AND WERE SCREECHING ON THE DRIVEWAY. THERE WERE BLACK MARKS ON THE DRIVEWAY FROM THE TIRES. HAD THE CAR TOWED TO A FORD DEALER, THEY CHECKED IT AND TOLD ME THE SHIFT MOTOR AND GEM MODULE HAD TO BE REPLACED. ALSO TOLD ME THAT THERE WAS A TSB ON THE PROBLEM. I HAD NO IDEA WHAT THAT MEANT. AFTER READING ABOUT THIS I FEEL THAT THIS IS A MANUFACTURERS DEFECT. MY EXTENDED WARRANTY WILL NOT COVER THIS AND THE FORD MOTOR COMPANY WILL NOT COVER THIS PROBLEM. THE FORD MOTOR CO. HAS SAID THAT THEY HAVE KNOWN ABOUT THIS PROBLEM IN THE 99-2001 EXPEDITIONS AND F250 LD AND F-150 AND LINCOLN 99-2001 NAVIGATOR. THEY ALSO HAVE SAID WHAT THE NEW PART NUMBER THAT IT SHOULD BE REPLACED WITH. I WOULD THINK IF I WAS DRIVING 65 MPH AND THE 4X4L COMES ON I COULD GET INTO A MAJOR ACCIDENT, SINCE YOU ARE ONLY SUPPOSED TO GO 30 MPH OR LESS IN 4X4L. I HAVE NOT YET HAD THE CAR REPAIRED. REPAIRS ARE GOING TO COST ME OVER $800. I HAVE PAID FOR DIAGNOSTIC FEES OF $68.00. *NM
2001 FORD F150 SUPERCREW 5.4 LITER TRITON V8 ENGINE. ON SEPT 16, 2005 MY TRUCK EXPERIENCED A #7 SPARK PLUG BLOWOUT. THE HEAD WAS REPLACED. ONE MONTH LATER, THE OTHER HEAD EXPERIENCED A SPARK PLUG BLOWOUT. IT SEEMS THERE ARE NOT ENOUGH THREADS TO HOLD THE SPARK PLUGS IN THE ENGINE DURING NORMAL OPERATIONS. THE ENGINE ONLY HAS 71,000 MILES ON IT. AT 60,000 MILES, THE FORD SERVICE CENTER REPLACED THE SPARK PLUGS IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE FORD MOTOR COMPANY MANUFACTURER SPECIFICATIONS AND RECOMMENDED MAINTENANCE SCHEDULE. *NM
DT: THE CONSUMER'S VEHICLE WAS AT A RED LIGHT AND HEARD A LOUD POPPING NOISE FROM THE UNDERNEATH THE HOOD. UPON ACCELERATION THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO SHAKE. THE CONSUMER PULLED OVER TO INSPECT THE VEHICLE AND DISCOVERED A SPARK PLUG WAS LYING ON TOP OF THE ENGINE. THE CONSUMER LATER DROVE THE VEHICLE TO A REPAIR SHOP. THE MECHANIC INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND CONSULTED A FORD DEALER. THE MECHANIC USED A HEEL COIL TO RESOLVE THE PROBLEM AS SUGGESTED BY THE FORD DEALER. THE VEHICLE COULD NOT BE COMPLETELY REPAIRED DUE TO A LACK OF TOOLS TO SET THE TIMING CHAIN ON THE VEHICLE. FORD DID NOT HAVE THESE SPECIAL TOOLS AVAILABLE TO THE PUBLIC. IN NOVEMBER 2004 I TOOK MY 2001 EXPEDITION INTO THE FORD DEALERSHIP SERVICE DEPARTMENT. THEY FOUND A HEAD GASKET DEFECTIVE AND REPLACED IT. IMMEDIATELY AFTER GETTING THE CAR BACK FROM DEALERSHIP THE STEERING WAS GIVING RESISTANCE WHILE DRIVING. WE CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY TOLD US IT WAS PROBABLY "AIR IN THE POWER STEERING LINES" AND THAT SOMETIMES HAPPENS AFTER FIXING THE PROBLEM THEY FIXED. THEY TOLD US IT WOULD "WORK ITSELF OUT". WELL, IT DIDN'T WORK ITSELF OUT, IT GOT WORSE. SO WE TOOK THE CAR BACK TO DEALERSHIP IN JUNE 2005 AND THEY COULD NOT "REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM SO AFTER SOME COMPLAINING FROM US, THEY RECHECKED THE VEHICLE AND FOUND THAT P/S PUMP EVO ACTUATOR TO BE CAUSING THE PROBLEM AND REPLACED THE POWER STEERING PUMP. THIS DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. THE CAR WAS STILL GIVING RESISTENCE IN THE STEERING. THE PROBLEM CONTINUED TO GET WORSE AND WORSE, SO IN OCTOBER 2005, WE TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP AGAIN. THEY AGAIN SAID THEY COULD NOT REPRODUCE THE HANGING UP OR NOISE. NOBODY EVER SAID ANYTHING TO THEM ABOUT POPPING NOISE. WHEN I GOT THERE TO PICK THE CAR UP I WAS NOT OUT OF THE PARKING LOT AND IT STARTING DOING IT AGAIN, SO I PULLED BACK IN AND THEY REFUSED TO LOOK AT THE CAR ANYMORE. *JB
ON THE EVENING OF OCT. 4, 2005 AT 5:50 PM, I ARRIVED HOME FROM WORK AND PARKED MY 2001 FORD F150 SUPERCREW IN MY GARAGE. I HAD A NORMAL EVENING AND RETIRED TO BED AT 10:00 PM AT APPROXIMATELY 11:30PM THE SMOKE DETECTOR IN MY HOME AWAKENED ME. I JUMPED OUT OF BED AND RAN TO THE OTHER SIDE OF MY HOUSE AND OBSERVED THROUGH THE DOOR INTO THE GARAGE, MY F150 ON FIRE. THE FLAMES WERE FULLY INVOLVING THE FRONT OF THE CAR WITH FLAMES SHOOTING OUT OF BOTH WHEEL WELLS AND JUST INSIDE THE WINDSHIELD ON THE DRIVERS SIDE. I CALLED 911 AND THE FIRE DEPARTMENT ARRIVED QUICKLY BUT TOO LATE TO SAVE MY TRUCK OR MY HOUSE AND CONTENTS WHICH WERE SUBSEQUENTLY DESTROYED. I DID NOT KNOW OF NOR DID I RECEIVE A NOTIFICATION OF THE RECALL FROM FORD REGARDING THE CRUISE CONTROL SWITCH. AS A MATTER OF FACT I HAVE YET TO RECEIVE NOTICE. *JB
I BROUGHT THIS CAR FROM THE DEALERSHIP BILL EARD. THIS CAR HAS GAVE ME PLENTY OF PROBLEMS WITH ITS TRANSMISSION. I HAVE TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP BUT THEY DON'T WANT TO HELP ME WITH ANYTHING . I WAS IN THE PARKING LOT OF A STORE AND WHEN I WENT TO START THE TRUCK IT MADE A HUGE POPPING SOUND UPON INVESTIGATION I FOUND THAT THE SPARK PLUG SHOT OUT OF THE HOLE AFTER CONTACTING MY FORD DEALERSHIP THEY INFORMED ME THAT THIS HAS BEEN AN ONGOING ISSUE WITH THE 5.4 AND V-10 MOTORS THE PROBLEM WAS THE SPARK PLUG COULD ONLY BE INSTALLED USING THREE THREADS AND THAT THEY HAVE CORRECTED THAT PROBLEM AND NOW WHEN I FIX THE TRUCK THE NEW HEADS YOU WILL BE ABLE TO GO DOWN 5 THREADS AT THE PRICE OF $1300.00 PER HEAD AND THE TOTAL COST OF $3200.00 PARTS & LABOR. *NM
DT: THE CONTACT STATED 2001 FORD F150 CAUGHT ON FIRE ON 9-25-05 WHILE PARKED. THE FIRES ORIGINATED UNDER THE HOOD. THE FIRE WAS NEAR THE BRAKE CYLINDER. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS NOT CALLED. THE CONSUMER PUT THE FIRE OUT WITH WATER AND A FIRE EXTINGUISHER. THE CONSUMER HAD NOT TALKED TO THE DEALER OR THE MANUFACTURER YET. THE TRUCK WAS NOT TOTALED. SHE REPORTED OF HAVING A BLOWN FUSE TWICE. THEY REPLACED THE FUSE BOTH TIMES. WHEN THE FUSE WOULD BLEW OUT THERE WOULD NOT BE ANY WINDSHIELD WIPERS , CRUISE CONTROL OR LIGHTS. WOULD HAVE TO PUT THE TRUCK IN NEUTRAL IN ORDER TO START THE TRUCK. SHE DID NOT HAVE THE SCDS REPLACED PRIOR TO THE FIRE. *AK
OUR VEHICLE WAS TRAVELING ON PAVED HIGHWAY JUST SOUTH OF WAUKOMIS, OK, AT APPROX. 6:45AM. A PICKUP PULLING A STOCK TRAILER WAS TRAVELING SOUTH AND CROSSED OVER IN FRONT OF OUR DRIVER'S VEHICLE, AND TO AVOID A HEAD-ON COLLISION WITH THIS VEHICLE, OUR DRIVER TOOK TO THE BAR DITCH AND AS A RESULT HIT A ROAD SIGN POST AND ALSO HIT A 3" STEEL POST THAT WAS SET APPROX. 3 FOOT DEEP IN CONCRETE, THE IMPACT WAS DEAD CENTER ON THE FRONT END OF OUR TRUCK'S BUMPER, AND IT TOTALED OUR VEHICLE. THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY ON OUR VEHICLE. OUR DRIVER FORTUNATELY WAS NOT INJURED. MY QUESTION IS WHY DID THE AIRBAGS NOT DEPLOY? *NM

9/8/05 MY HUSBAND CALLED VARSITY FORD ABOUT RECALL OF RE: CRUISE ON EXPEDITION 9/9/05 AS INSTRUCTED, I TOOK EXPEDITION TO VARSITY FOR REPAIR. ON WAY HOME NOTICED CRUISE DOES NOT WORK. MY HUSBAND HAD BEEN TOLD THIS WOULD BE A REPAIR NOT A DISCONNECT SO HE CALLED VARSITY. HE WAS TOLD I WOULD NEED AN APPT. TO CHECK THE CRUISE. I CALLED TO MAKE THE APPT. AND STATED SINCE THE CRUISE WORKED FINE BEFORE THE RECALL WORK, VARSITY WOULD NOT CHARGE ME TO GET IT WORKING AGAIN. I WAS TOLD,"NO. PROBABLY THE CRUISE MODULE HAS BLOWN." VARSITY REP, MONTY GUY STATED WOULD DO THE CHECK FOR FREE BUT TAKES NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR REPAIRS. I STATED THE CRUISE WORKED FINE BEFORE THE RECALL WORK. I WAS AGAIN TOLD VARSITY WILL TAKE NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR ANY PARTS GOING OUT FROM RECALL WORK. I CALLED FORD MOTOR. I WAS TOLD TO HAVE THE CHECK FOR FREE AND IF THE HARNESS IS LOOSE THERE WILL BE NO CHARGE, BUT FORD TAKES NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR ANY DAMAGE DONE TO THE VEHICLE BY THE DEALER. THIS IS A SCAM. PEOPLE, SUCH AS MYSELF, ARE TAKING THEIR VEHICLE IN TO THE DEALERS IN GOOD FAITH FOR YOUR RECALL ONLY TO GET A DAMAGED VEHICLE BACK. THEN THE DEALER REFUSES TO ACCEPT RESPONSIBILITY SO HE CAN GET THE VEHICLE BACK IN AND HAVE CHARGES AGAINST THE CUSTOMER. I AM IN THE PROCESS OF INFORMING ALL I KNOW WITH A FORD AND THE STATE ATTORNEY GENERAL'S OFFICE. SHAME ON YOU. THE PUBLIC LOOKS TO YOU FOR HELP. THE HEAD IS TOO THIN AND MADE FROM ALUMINUM SO THE THREADS STRIP OUT. THE TRUCK HAS 70,000 MILES AND THE PLUGS ARE ORIGINAL. FORD HAS CHANGED THE HEAD DESIGN BUT WON'T ADMIT TO THE FLAW. SMALL FIRE AND BURNING OF WIRES COMING OUT OF THE BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER "CRUISE-CONTROL DEACTIVATION SWITCH" ELECTRICAL WIRES DAMAGED AND NEED REPLACEMENT.. CALLED FORD STATED THAT VEHICLE WAS NOT COVERED BY THE RECALL ISSUED APRIL 2005. MY VEHICLE IS A 2001 FORD 150 SCAB. *NM

THE CONSUMER DROVE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP, THEY SAID THAT THE ENGINE HEAD WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED AND THE COST WOULD BE OVER $3000. THE CONSUMER HAD IT REPAIRED AT A COST OF $33000.
