ON SUNDAY, 10/07/01 AT APPROXIMATELY 2PM, I WAS PARKING ALONGSIDE A RESIDENTIAL STREET BEHIND MY UNOCCUPIED FATHER IN LAW'S TRUCK. I WAS SLOWING DOWN TO PARK, GOING LESS THAN 5 MPH, WHEN MY FOOT SLIPPED AND I BUMPED MY FATHER IN LAW'S REAR BUMBER. THE COLLISION WAS NOT HARD. THERE WAS NO DAMAGE TO HIS TRUCK. MY TRUCK'S LICENSE PLATE WAS SLIGHTLY DENTED AND THE BUMBER COVER WAS ONLY SCRATCHED. THIS MILD IMPACT, HOWEVER DID CAUSE BOTH MY AIRBAGS TO DEPLOY. I WAS NOT HURT. I REPORTED INCIDENT TO MY INSURANCE AND THEY REFERRED ME TO A BODY SHOP FOR REPAIRS. WHEN I WENT TO PICK UP MY TRUCK TODAY, I WAS TOLD BY BODY SHOP EMPLOYEE THAT IT WAS A STRANGE INCIDENT BECAUSE THE IMPACT HAD BEEN SO MILD AND THE AIR BAGS WERE NOT FULLY DEPLOYED. AS I RESEARCHED THIS WEBSITE I DID FIND INFORMATION ON NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 01VO82000, WHICH ADDRESSES THE AIRBAGS NOT FULLY DEPLOYING. I AM NOT ONLY ADDRESSING THAT PROBLEM, BUT ALSO AT HOW EASILY THE AIRBAGS DID DEPLOY AT SUCH A LOW SPEED, LOW IMPACT INCIDENT. *AK
I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AND ALL OF A SUDDEN THE ENGINE STARTS TO MAKE A POPPING SOUND. I PULLED OVER AND RAISED THE HOOD. THE #3 SPARK PLUG HAD BLOWN OUT FROM ITS SEATING IN THE CYLINDER HEAD. I HAD THE TRUCK TOWED TO THE DEALER AND THEY REPLACED THE CYLINDER HEAD. THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM AND COULD BE VERY DANGEROUS BECAUSE OF THE LOCATION OF THE FUEL INJECTION RAIL. THE SPARKPLUG IS LOCATED DIRECTLY BELOW THE FUEL RAIL. IF THE SPARK PLUG COMES LOOSE AND IT FLIES INTO THE FUEL RAIL, THE RAIL COULD BURST CAUSING FUEL TO SPRAY INSIDE THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT IGNITING A FIRE. THE SPARK PLUG PROBLEM WAS TAKEN CARE OF BY FORD, HOWEVER NOTHING WAS DONE TO GUARD THE FUEL RAIL.
THE TRANSMISSION HESITATES AS IT SHIFTS FROM 1ST GEAR TO SECOND GEAR. I WAS TOLD IT IS NORMAL BY THE DEALER WHERE I BOUGHT THE TRUCK AND OTHER DEALERSHIPS AS WELL. I HAVE FOUND OUT THERE IS A DEFECT IN THE TRANSMISSION WHICH CAUSES THIS DELAY IN THE SHIFTING OF THE TRANSMISSION. THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN FOUND IN 4R100 TRANSMISSIONS BUILT FROM 7/27/2000 TO 3/23/2001. I BELIEVE THIS TRANSMISSION TO BE UNSAFE AND FORD DENIES THERE IS A PROBLEM. I WANT THIS TRANSMISSION REPLACED WITH A NEW TRANSMISSION. I HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM SINCE THE TRUCK WAS NEW AND ALL FORD DOES IS DENY, DENY, DENY.
ENGINE STALLS INTERMITTENTLY DURING NORMAL OPERATION WHILE TRAVELING AT ANY SPEED. DEALERSHIP HAS BEEN UNABLE TO REPRODUCE PROBLEM AND IDENTIFY THE CAUSE. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY ADDITIONAL INFORMATION / DOCUMENTATION. *AK
AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FAILED WHILE DRIVING. PRIOR TO THIS INCIDENT WHEN CHANGING GEARS TRANSMISSION MADE A WHINING NOISE BEFORE IT WENT INTO GEAR. THIS MAINLY OCCURRED WHILE REVERSING. A MECHANIC SERVICED VEHICLE SEVERAL TIMES FOR THIS ISSUE, BUT NO CAUSE WAS FOUND. I RECEIVED A RECALL LETTER INSTRUCTING ME TO GO TO THE NEAREST DEALER TO TEST THE BELT WITH A SPECIAL TOOL. I COMPLIED AND WAS TOLD THE BELTS PASSED. THE BELT CONTINUES TO RELEASE WHILE DRIVING. I HAVE CONTACTED 2 DEALERS AND FORD (DIRECTLY) TWICE. I SPOKE WITH TEM TODAY AND THEY SAY THEY HAVE NO RECORD OF MY CALLS OR E-MAILS. I HAVE DOCUMENTED THOSE CALLS. LOOSE STEERING, SECOND (REPLACEMENT) STEERING GEAR. THE ORIGINAL STEERING GEAR WAS NOISY AND THE DEALER REPLACED IT WITH A USED, REBUILT UNIT AT 3,264 MILES. CURRENT (USED) GEAR HAS EXCESSIVE FREE PLAY, THE VEHICLE WANDERS AND IS DIFFICULT TO CONTROL ON THE HIGHWAY. FORD REFUSES TO SUPPLY THE DEALER WITH A NEW GEAR. THE DEALER REFUSES TO REPLACE OR ADJUST THE LOOSE GEAR. I FEEL THE SAFETY OF THE VEHICLE IS IN QUESTION WITH THE USED GEAR IN IT DUE TO LACK OF TRACEABILITY OF THE GEAR IN CASE OF A RECALL OR SAFETY CAMPAIGN. *AK

DEALERSHIP INSPECTED THE FRONT OUTBOUND SEAT BELTS AND INDICATED THAT THEY WERE FINE ALTHOUGH THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE SEAT BELT WAS SHOWING SIGNS OF FAILURE AS STATED IN SEAT BELT BUCKLES RECALL 01V227001. VEHICLE "DOGS" DOWN (LOSS OF POWER) WHEN TURNING RIGHT. ONLY WHEN YOUR TURNING A CORNER AT LOW SPEED DOES THE ENGINE STALL. NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS AND REPLACED PARTS HAVE NOT FIXED THE SITUATION.*AK
THE POLICE SAID MY DAD'S TRUCK WAS GOING AROUND 65 MPH. THE TRUCK STRUCK A GUARD RAIL ON BOTH SIDES IN THE FRONT AND THE AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY WITH EITHER IMPACT. THEY SAID HE WAS NOT WEARING HIS SEAT BELT BUT THE SEAT BELT WAS STILL ON HIM. HE WAS EJECTED OUT OF THE PASSENGER SIDE AND HE WAS PINNED UNDER THE TRUCK. THREE OF THE TIRES BLEW OUT ALSO. NLM
MY HUSBAND AND I PURCHASED A 2001 FORD EXPEDITION XLT IN JULY 2001. WE HAVE ONLY RECEIVED 1 RECALL ON THIS VEHICLE WHICH PERTAINED TO THE PCV VALVE. WE HAVE NOT BEEN NOTIFIED OF ANY OTHER RECALLS BY FORD. WE HAVE CHECKED YAHOO.COM AND CURRENTLY THERE ARE 7 RECALLS. WE ARE WONDERING IF OUR VEHICLE IS AFFECTED. THE VIN # IS [XXX]. WE ARE ALSO WONDERING IF THERE MAY BE A RECALL ON THE AXLES OF 2001 MAKES. A YOUNG MAN WRECKED IN OUR FRONT YARD THE OTHER NIGHT BECAUSE HIS BACK RIGHT AXLE BROKE INTO AND MADE THE BACK RIGHT TIRE COME OFF AND FLY ACROSS OUR YARD. LUCKILY, HE WAS NOT HURT. I HAVE A VIBRATION AT 45 MILES AN HOUR. IT FEELS LIKE THE TRUCK IS WOOBLING SIDE TO SIDE.YOU MUST BE AT A CONSTANT SPEED. I CAN ALSO FEEL A VIBRATION AT 65 TO 70 MILES AN HOUR. ALSO AT 70 WHEN I HIT A BUMP IT FEELS LIKE THE TRUCK KEEPS BOUNCING FOR A SECOND AFTER IT HITS. THE DEALER HAS BALENCED THE TIRES 4 TIMES AND HAS CHANGED THE TIRES AND RIMS ALSO. WHEN SLOWING DOWN, AND THEN ACCELERATING, A CLUNK IN THE DRIVELINE OCCURS, DEALER REPLACED PARTS IN REAR AXLE, DRIVE SHAFT AND BOTH U-JOINTS, REPLACED ANTI CLUNK SPRING IN TRANSMISSON, BUT AFTER FIVE TIMES TO THE DEALERSHIP , I WAS TOLD THAT FORD HAD BEEN CONTACTED AND THEY SAID THAT I WOULD HAVE TO LIVE WITH THE PROBLEM THAT THEY HAD SEVERAL TRUCKS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM BUT THEY HAD COME TO THE CONCLUSION THAT THE SOUND WAS SOUND BEING TRANSFERED THROUGH THE DRIVESHAFT, I WAS TOLD THAT SOME TRUCKS DO THIS AND SOME DO NOT, I DID COMPLAIN TO FORD, AND I AM STILL AWAITING THERE RESPONSE

FRONTAL AIR BAGS DEPLOYED WHEN VEHICLE INVOLVED IN A CRASH. THEN, DRIVER'S SIDE AIR BAG ALSO DEPLOYED AND RIPPED/TORE. WHEN AIR BAG TORE, ELEMENTS IN AIR BAG CAUGHT ON FIRE, AND CONSUMER WAS THROWN INTO STEERING COLUMN. DRIVER SUFFERED ABDOMINAL/ RIB CAGE , AND ARM INJURIES WHEN HE TRIED TO STOP HIMSELF FROM GOING INTO STEERING COLUMN. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY ADDITIONAL INFORMATION/ATTACHMENTS. *AK
ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS, CUSTOMER STATES THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE FRONT SEAT BELT WILL NOT RETRACT PROPERLY, RESULTING IN, ON ONE OCCASION, PASSENGER BEING BANGED AGAINST THE FRONT OF THE CAB, DEALER REPLACED RIGHT FRONT SEAT BELT RETRACTOR, BUT DID NOT REMEDY PROBLEM. *TT
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE WIRING HARNESS AND COIL PLUG WAS CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO STALL AND DRIVE HARD. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER TO HAVE THE WIRING HARNESS AND COIL PLUG REPLACED BUT THE REPAIR DID NOT REMEDY THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER BUT THE DEALER COULD NOT PROPERLY DIAGNOSE THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 68,000.
