TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 FORD F-150. WHILE PARKED AND UNOCCUPIED, THE VEHICLE IGNITED IN FLAMES. THE FIRE STARTED UNDER THE HOOD FROM THE DRIVER SIDE. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT EXTINGUISHED THE FLAMES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND ADVISED THAT THERE WAS AN UNKNOWN RECALL THAT COULD HAVE BEEN ASSOCIATED WITH THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE CAUSE OF THE FIRE WAS UNKNOWN. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 175,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED UNDER THE RECALL ASSOCIATED WITH NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 11V385000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE:STORAGE:TANK ASSEMBLY:MOUNTING). THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT HE FUEL TANK WAS LEAKING AS A RESULT OF THE CORRODED STRAPS, BUT THE DEALER WOULD NOT REPLACE THE FUEL TANK BECAUSE IT WAS NOT PART OF THE RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND THE FUEL TANK WAS REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 130,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO BE COASTED OFF THE ROAD AND WAS TOWED TO A DEALER. AFTER DIAGNOSIS, THE DEALER ADVISED HIM THAT A SPARK PLUG HAD BLOWN THROUGH THE ALUMINUM HEAD AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED FOR THE STEEL RING BEING PLACED WHERE THE PLUGS WERE STRIPPED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND THEY OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 65,000. SPARK PLUG BLOW OUT ON A 2002 F-150 WITH ONLY 47K MILES ON THE TRUCK. THIS TRUCK IS NOT A WORK TRUCK, BUT AN EVERY DAY TRUCK. I DO NOT HAUL A LOT, AND HAVE TREATED THIS TRUCK WITH A LOT OF CARE. IT WILL COST ME $1100 TO GET FIXED. THIS DESIGN FLAW SHOULD OF HAD A RECALL ON IT. *TR
ON AUGUST 20, 2011 ON MY WAY HOME, MY SPARE TIRE THAT WAS MOUNTED UNDER TRUCK FELL ONTO ROADWAY. I RECOVERED THE TIRE AND PARTS FROM ROAD AND LOOKED UNDER TRUCK FOR CAUSE. THE CABLE AND CLAMP THAT HOLDS THE SPARE TIRE HAD CORRODED AND BROKEN CAUSING THE TIRE TO FALL TO ROADWAY. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING THERE WAS A LOUD NOISE IN THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE AND FOUND THAT THE SPARE TIRE SEPARATED FROM THE VEHICLE DUE TO CORRODED CABLE AND CLIP HOLDER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILES WAS 140,000.

STRAPS BROKE ON GAS TANK WHILE DRIVING CAUSING IT TO FALLOFF AN BREAK. *TR
TURNED OVER MY 2002 FORD F-150. A LOUD POP OCCURRED AS A SPARK PLUG/COIL PACK BLEW OUT. THIS IS THE 3RD COIL PACK THAT HAS BLOWN SINCE APRIL OF 2009. THEY FIX IT EVERY TIME BY HAVING TO REPLACE THE COIL PACK AND SPARK PLUG, ALONG WITH HAVING TO RE-TAP THE HEAD. LUCKILY, THIS TIME, I WAS IN A GROCERY STORE PARKING LOT. THE LAST TWO TIMES, MY WIFE AND I WERE DRIVING THE TRUCK WHEN IT HAPPENED, WHICH PLACED US IN DANGER BECAUSE IT COULD HAVE CAUSED AN EXPLOSION. I KNOW THERE ARE QUITE A FEW OTHER PEOPLE SAYING THE SAME THINGS ABOUT THAT HAPPENING TO THEM MULTIPLE TIMES. I THINK IT'S TIME THAT FORD PUSHES A RECALL THROUGH DEALING WITH THE COIL PACKS, AS MORE AND MORE PEOPLE ARE AFFECTED BY THE SAME ISSUE, BEFORE SOMEONE IS SERIOUSLY HURT AS A RESULT. *TR
WENT TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT WITH FIRESTONE TO HAVE MY PLUGS CHANGED PER FORD MANUAL ON MY 2002 F150 5.4 LITER V8. IT WAS TOLD TO ME THAT THEY WOULD NOT TOUCH THE VEHICLE AS I SHOULD CONTACT FORD DIRECTLY. THEY CLAIM THE PLUGS EXPLODE. WE THEN CALLED THE FORD DEALER SERVICE DEPARTMENT IN SAYVILLE THE WOMAN STATED AT SAYVILLE FORD SERVICE DEPARTMENT THE PLUGS WOULD COST TO REPLACE $ 383.00 UNLESS THE PLUGS EXPLODE INSIDE THE ENGINE WHEN REMOVED THEN IT WOULD COST 1/2 HOUR MORE PER PLUG AS THEY ARE HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE PLUGS EXPLODING IT COULD RUN UP TO A TOTAL COST OF$ 800.00 MAX TO REMOVE. SOMETHING ABOUT NEW SLEEVE HAS TO BE REPLACED WHEN IT EXPLODES. I WAS REALLY IRATE WE ARE ONLY TALKING ABOUT PLUGS. I THEN CONTACTED FORD AT 1 800 392-3673 AT CUSTOMER RELATIONSHIP CENTER CLAIMS THEY KNOW NOTHING ABOUT THIS PROBLEM WELL I HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THIS IF FIRESTONE WILL NOT TOUCH THE VEHICLE AND THERE OWN FORD DEALERS EXPLAINS THEY HAVE A MAJOR PROBLEM THEN HOW DO YOU NOT KNOW ABOUT IT. PROBLEM. I HAVE A BIG PROBLEM WITH THIS NOT ONLY CONCERNS ABOUT ENGINE ALSO THE COST FACTOR WITH REGARDS WITH THE REMOVAL OF DEFECTED PLUGS I BELIEVE THEY ALREADY KNEW OF THIS PROBLEM AND AS USUAL THEY ARE TRYING TO PASS THE DEFECT TO THE CONSUMER. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 FORD F150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE TIE ROD FRACTURED WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH, CAUSING HIM TO LOSE CONTROL OF HIS VEHICLE. NEITHER THE DEALER NOR THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A PRIVATE MECHANIC WHO REPAIRED THE INNER PASSENGER TIE ROD. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 127,000. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 124,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
FUEL TANK STRAPS FAILED WHILE DRIVING RESULTING IN THE TANK DROPPING. THE FRONT OF THE TANK CONTACTED THE ROAD SURFACE RESULTING IN A LEAK AND SPILLING OF APPROXIMATELY 21 GALS OF FUEL ON THE ROAD. NO FIRE RESULTED BUT THE HAZMAT TEAM WAS REQUIRED TO CLEAN UP THE SPILLED FUEL. THE 2002 F 150 WAS TOWED TO A FORD DEALER FOR REPAIR. *TR
I HAVE A 2002 FORD F 150 XLT SUPERCREW WITH THE 139 INCH WHEELBASE. UPON ARRIVING HOME MY WIFE SAID SHE NOTICED SOMETHING HANGING BELOW THE TRUCK.. I WENT OUT TO INSPECT. THE FRONT FUEL TANK RETAINING STRAP WAS HANGING THERE. THE BOLT SIDE HAD ROTTED AWAY APPROXIMATELY 6 INCHES DOWN FROM TOP. REAR STRAP WAS INSPECTED AND SHOWED SIGNS OF RUST BUT STILL IN PLACE AND FUNCTIONING AS INTENDED..I HAVE MOVED THE VEHICLE INSIDE TO AVOID USING IT AND WILL ORDER NEW STRAP IN MORNING. I HAD HEARD FORD WAS LOOKING INTO THIS PROBLEM HAS IT BEEN RESOLVED ? DO I HAVE RECOURSE ? THANKS. *TR

FAULTY CRUISE CONTROL SHORTED OUT CAUSING FIRE IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT AND DAMAGING SOME WIRES, AIR FILTER HOUSING, FUSE BOX, BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER, HOOD STRUT AND HOOD. *KB
ON MORE THAN ONE OCCASION SPARK PLUG AND COIL FOR #4 CYLINDER HAS BLOWN OUT. FEW TIMES I WAS ABLE TO TIGHTEN DOWN THE PLUG AND REPLACE THE COIL. LAST TIME IT HAPPENED IT MESSED UP THE THREADS. HAD TO BUY A SPECIAL PLUG TO PUT IN ALONG WITH A RETHREAD PART. NOW I CAN NOT EVERY REPLACE THAT SPARK PLUG DO TO HAVING THE THREADING HOUSING. *TR
FUEL TANK STRAPS RUSTED OUT CAUSING FUEL TANK TO BREAKAWAY FROM THE VECHICLE . FUEL TANK DRAGGED ON THE HIGHWAY SPILLING ENTIRE 25 GALONS OF FUEL. FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS CALLED TO REMOVE THE TANK BEFORE THE TRUCK COULD BE TOWED. FUEL TANK IS DAMAGED BEYOND REPAIR NEEDING REPLACEMENT. *TT

THE FIRE DEPARTMENT ASSISTED WITH PUTTING OUT THE FIRE, BUT THE CONTACT DID NOT RECEIVE A REPORT. A RECALL NOTICE FOR THE VEHICLE CRUISE CONTROL WAS RECEIVED BY THE CONTACT; STATING THAT IF NOT REPAIRED, THE VEHICLE MAY CATCH FIRE. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE DEALER NOR MANUFACTURER WERE NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 160,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
I WAS TRAVELING ON RT. 64 HEADING EAST TOWARD RT 59 IN WEST CHICAGO WHEN I SUDDENLY HEARD A THUD FOLLOWED BY A SCRAPING NOISE COMING FROM WHAT I FIRST THOUGHT WAS THE BED OF MY 2002 F150. I PULLED OFF THE ROAD TO CHECK AND DIDN'T SEE ANYTHING WRONG FROM THE SUSPECTED AREA. I DROVE A LITTLE LONGER AND WHEN THE NOISE WASN'T STOPPING, I PULLED OVER AGAIN AND NOTICED ONE OF THE BRACKETS HOLDING MY GAS TANK WAS DRAGGING AND THE FRONT HALF OF MY GAS TANK WAS ON THE GROUND. THE BRACKET WAS RUSTED THROUGH AND FALLEN AWAY ON ONE SIDE. I WAS ABSOLUTELY SHOCKED AT THIS PROBLEM BECAUSE I HAD JUST HAD MY TRUCK IN THE SHOP A FEW MONTHS BEFORE AND THERE WAS NO MENTION OF ANY RUST ISSUE WITH THE BRACKET FROM THE SHOPS I HAD BEEN IN. I HAD THE FUEL PUMP AND FILTER REPLACED IN JAN. 2010 AND THERE WAS NO MENTION OF RUST ISSUES WITH THE BRACKET THEN. *KB

THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 144,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 145,000. UPDATED 10/18/11*LJ THE CONSUMER TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER, WHERE THEY PLACED TEMPORARY STRAPS ON THE VEHICLE UNTIL THE PERMANENT STRAPS BECAME AVAILABLE. THE GAS TANK STRAPS CORRODED AND WEAKENED TO THE POINT WHERE FUEL WAS LEAKING. THE CONSUMER WAS INFORMED THE GAS TANK WAS NOT COVERED IN THE RECALL, BECAUSE IT DID NOT FALL TO THE GROUND. THE CONSUMER STATED THAT SINCE THE GAS TANK AND STRAP WERE MADE FROM DIFFERENT MATERIAL, AND THE SALT CREATED A CHEMICAL REACTION AND DESTROYED THE STRAP AND THE TANK, THE TANK SHOULD BE INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE. A REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED AND TOWED. THERE WAS DAMAGE TO THE ROOF OF THE BUILDING WHERE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED. A CONSUMER WHO OCCUPIED THE BUILDING OBSERVED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS ON FIRE, SUFFERED SMOKE INHALATION AND WAS TREATED AT THE SCENE. THERE WAS A RECALL UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 06E056000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE) THAT MAY BE RELATED TO THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 138,125.
MY 2002 FORD F-150 HAS VERY BADLY RUSTED FUEL TANK STRAPS, WHY IS THE RECALL ONLY UP TO 2001 F-150'S. FORD DEFINITELY USED SOME CHEAP METALS WHILE MAKING THESE F-150'S IS IT POSSIBLE TO INCLUDE 2002 AS WELL? *TR
MY TRUCK THAT I BOUGHT BRAND NEW IS A 2002 FORD F150 SUPERCREW THAT I TAKE VERY GOOD CARE OF. THE TRUCK HAS JUST OVER 64,000 MILES ON IT. ON OCCASION I DO USE THE TRUCK LIKE A TRUCK AND TOW A 19' BOAT WITH IT AND I USE IT TO PICK UP LUMBER ETC... THREE WEEKS AGO I BEGAN TO HEAR AN ODD METALLIC SOUND FROM THE BACK OF THE TRUCK WHILE GOING OVER BUMPS IN THE ROAD. I CLIMBED UNDERNEATH AND GRASPED DIFFERENT COMPONENTS OF THE SUSPENSION AND DRIVE TRAIN AND PUSHED AND PULLED ON THEM EXPECTING TO FIND SOMETHING LOOSE. I DIDN'T FIND ANYTHING. THE NEXT DAY I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND I HEARD A VERY LOUD BOOM! I PULLED OVER AND AGAIN LOOKED AT THE REAR END OF THE TRUCK AND FOUND THAT THE MOUNT THAT HOLDS THE REAR LEAF SPRING TO THE FRAME BODY HAD BROKEN RATHER VIOLENTLY AND SENT THE END OF THE SPRING WITH HALF OF THE MOUNT THRU THE UNDERSIDE OF THE TRUCK BED. I WAS ABLE TO LIMP HOME. I BROUGHT THE TRUCK TO THE LOCAL BODY/ FRAME SHOP AND THE OWNER TOLD ME THAT HE HAS BEEN SEEING ALOT OF THESE LATELY AND IT IS A COMMON PROBLEM. AFTER INSPECTION HE FOUND THE OTHER SIDE WAS EQUALLY RUSTED AND READY TO LET GO, WHICH CONCERNED ME SINCE THAT IS THE SIDE WITH THE GAS TANK ON IT. IN HIS EXPERT OPINION HE BELIEVES THAT FORD HAD UNDERBUILT THE LEAF SPRING MOUNTS AND THAT IS WHY THEY ARE BEGINING TO FAIL ON TRUCKS THAT ARE AROUND THE AGE OF MINE. THE FRAME IS SAFE AND SOLID ENOUGH BUT THE MOUNTS FOR PARTS OF THE SUSPENSION APPEAR NOT TO BE. I AM FORTUNATE THAT I WAS NOT TOWING MY BOAT, OR THAT THE BED WAS NOT LOADED AND I WAS NOT DRIVING MORE THAN 35 MPH WHEN THE MOUNT LET GO. I DON'T KNOW WHAT MIGHT HAVE HAPPENED IF I WAS ON THE HIGHWAY AT 65 MPH. THE REPAIR COST $659 AND IN MY OPINION IT IS SOMETHING THAT SHOULD NOT HAVE FAILED CONSIDERING THE AGE, CONDITION AND THE LOW MILES I HAVE ON THE TRUCK. IF THIS TRULY IS A COMMON PROBLEM THAT FORD F150'S LIKE MINE POSSESS THAN IT IS ONLY MATTER OF TIME BEFORE THE FAILURE OF THESE PARTS CAUSE A BAD ACCIDENT. *TT
COIL PACK CAUSING ENGINE TO MISFIRE. *TT
I SMELLED GAS FUMES NEAR MY 2002 F150 TRUCK. LOOKED UNDERNEATH TO INSPECT WHERE SMELL WAS COMING FROM AND FOUND THE BACK BRACE ON THE GAS TANK BROKEN OFF AND RUSTED OUT HOLE IN THE TANK WHERE THE BRACE WAS SUPPOSED TO BE. *TR
THE STRAPS HOLDING THE GAS IN PLACE ON MY 2002 F150 FAILED ON THE EXPRESSWAY CAUSING THE TANK TO DROP TO THE GROUND AT 65MPH. BY THE TIME I WAS ABLE TO STOP, A RIP IN THE TANK CAUSED ALL OF THE FUEL TO LEAK OUT. LUCKILY NO SPARKS OF FIRE. I WAS NEVER INFORMED OF A POTENTIAL PROBLEM FROM THE DEALERSHIP I REGULARLY GET SERVICED AT. I RESEARCHED THIS ISSUE ONLINE, AND FOUND MANY SIMILAR COMPLAINTS. THIS COULD HAVE BEEN TRAGIC/FATAL, FOR ME AND ALL THE OTHER PEOPLE DRIVING AROUND ME. I AM NOT ONE TO WRITE COMPLAINTS, BUT I AM UPSET AT THE DANGER THIS PUT ME IN AND THE TIME AND COST OF THIS FAILURE. *TR
I HAD DRIVEN 4 TO 5 MILES AT 40 TO 45 MPH AND WAS A 1 BLOCK FROM MY DESTINATION. I HAD TO STOP FOR A STOP SIGN AND MAKE A RIGHT TURN. WHILE MAKING THE TURN I THOUGHT I HIT SOMETHING, BUT THE STREET WAS CLEAR? I TURNED THE RADIO OFF AND OPENED THE WINDOW TO HERE SOMETHING DRAGGING. I STOPPED AT THAT TIME MAYBE 100 YARDS FROM WHERE I LAST STOPPED. MY SPEED WAS 20 TO 25 MPH. I GOT OUT AND LOOKED UNDER THE TRUCK AND THE GAS TANK WAS SITTING ON THE GROUND.THE FRONT OF THE TANK WAS ON THE GROUND THE BACK WAS STILL ELEVATED. THE FILLER HOSE AND FUEL LINES WERE THE ONLY THING HOLDING THE TANK. BOTH HANGERS WERE BROKEN, RUSTED THRU. IF I WAS DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEED, I DO NOT BELIEVE I WOULD HAVE A TRUCK LEFT. I ALSO UNDERSTAND THAT 2001 AND EARLIER F150'S WERE RECALLED FOR THE TANK HANGERS AND I WOULD SUGGEST IT BE EXPANDED. ASAP! MY FORD DEALER 4 WEEKS EARLIER HAD INSPECTED MY VEHICLE AT MY REQUEST FOR REGULAR MAINTENANCE AND REPAIRS BEFORE MY VACATION TRIPS. THE SERVICE TECH NEVER LOOKED AT MY TANK STRAPS EVEN KNOWING PREVIOUS YEARS HAD A PROBLEM? FORD SHOULD HAVE CAUGHT THIS BEFORE IT HAPPENED AGAIN. THE BIGGEST COMPLAINT AFTER IS THE FORD DEALERSHIP TOLD ME IT WAS NOT A PART OF ANY RECALL AND THEY KNEW NOTHING ABOUT IT. WHICH I DO NOT BELIEVE! THE FRONT GAS TANK SUPPORT HANGER BROKE DUE TO CORROSION. THE REAR HANGER HELD THE TANK IN PLACE UNTIL I WAS ABLE REPLACE BOTH UNITS. THE REAR HANGER DID NOT BREAK BUT WAS SEVERELY CORRODED ALSO. I DON'T KNOW WHAT WOULD HAVE HAPPEN IF I WOULD HAVE LOST BOTH UNITS TOGETHER WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD.

2002 FORD F-150 WITH A 5.4L TRITON V8. THE #7 SPARK PLUG BLEW OUT OF THE PORT AND BROKE THE COIL. THAT LEFT FUEL VAPORS FROM THE PISTON TO BE EXPOSED TO THE DAMAGED IGNITION COIL THAT WAS ARCING AND COULD OF CAUGHT FIRE WITH MY KIDS IN THE TRUCK. DRIVING TO WORK AND HAD TO STOP AT A STOP LIGHT A FEW BLOCKS FROM WORK. WHEN LIGHT TURNED GREEN I ACCELERATED TO GO AND THE CAR SOUND LIKE THE EXHAUST MANIFOLDS BLEW OFF. PARKED CAR AND HAD IT TOWED TO A LOCAL REPAIR SHOP. WAS NOTIFIED BY THE TECHNICIAN THAT THE BACK PASSENGER SIDE SPARK PLUG BLEW OUT OF THE CYLINDER. TECHNICIAN REPAIRED BY USING AN INSERT. 2002 FORD F-150, 4.6 TRITON ENGINE KEEPS BLOWING THE SPARK PLUGS OUT OF THE HEADS. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 25 TO 30 MPH HE HEARD A LOUD DRAGGING NOISE UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE. HE THEN PULLED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND NOTICED THAT BOTH STRAPS HAD FRACTURED AND WERE COVERED WITH RUST. THE TANK FELL OFF OF THE VEHICLE, BUT NONE OF THE FUEL SPILLED. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO CONTINUE DRIVING THE VEHICLE AND IT WAS REPAIRED BY THE OWNER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND ADVISED HIM THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS. FUEL TANK DROPPED TO THE ROAD WHILE DRIVING CAUSING THE TRUCK TO BE ENGULFED IN FLAMES. DRIVER MADE IT OUT WITH FIRST AND SECOND DEGREE BURNS. TWO DOGS IN THE BACK SEAT DIED IN THE FIRE. INITIAL INVESTIGATION BY THE INSURANCE INVESTIGATOR DETERMINED THAT IT WAS THE FUEL TANK STRAPS THAT FAILED. THERE IS AN INVESTIGATION (PE10036) BY THE NHTSA FOR FUEL TANK STRAPS ON FORD F-150S 1999-2001. THE 2002 AND 2003 F-150 USE THE SAME STRAPS. WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEED MY 2002 FORD F-150 DROPPED THE FUEL TANK AND THE TANK WAS DRAGGED FOR APPROXIMATELY 1/4 MILE WILE I ATTEMPTED TO MANEUVER ACROSS THREE LANES OF TRAFFIC TO THE BREAKDOWN LANE. THIS CREATED A HOLE IN THE TANK AS IT WAS DRAGGED AGAINST THE PAVEMENT. I HAD JUST FILLED THE TANK AND ALL 25 GALLONS WAS LOST ON THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP AND I AM WAITING FOR THE ESTIMATE FOR REPAIR. *TR
ONE GAS TANK STRAP WAS FOUND TO BE RUSTED AND THE TANK AT AN ANGLE. IT WAS INSPECTED BY A LOCAL FORD DEALER, WHO FOUND THAT THE GAS TANK WAS ALSO RUSTED AND LEAKING. THE GAS TANK AND STRAPS WERE REPLACED. BECAUSE THE MODEL YEAR WAS NOT IN THE DATE RANGE OF THE RECENT RECALL, WE HAD TO PAY $793. A POWER STEERING PUMP WAS ALSO LEAKING AND REPLACED. THE GAS TANK WAS THE MAJOR ITEM OF CONCERN.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND ALSO ACKNOWLEDGED THIS WAS A KNOWN FAILURE; HOWEVER, THE MANUFACTURER OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 65,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.

MY HUSBAND PURCHASED A USED 2002 F150 FORD TRUCK BACK IN 2004. IN THE PAST 3 YEARS, THE TRUCK HAS MAJOR ELECTRICAL ISSUES EVERY TIME IT RAINS FOR MORE THAN 2 DAYS STRAIGHT. IT STARTS WITH THE RADIO SHUTTING OFF WHILE DRIVING. NEXT THE WIPERS WILL NOT WORK THEN THE POWER WINDOWS WONT OPEN. EACH TIME HE GETS IN AND OUT OF HIS CAR, ANOTHER ELECTRICAL FEATURE WILL NOT WORK. FINALLY, WHEN HE GETS IN TO START HIS CAR AND IT WON'T TURN OVER. IN APRIL 2009, HE HAS THE ELECTRICAL SENSOR IN THE GEM MODEL REPLACED. ON APRIL 28TH 2010, HE HAD TO HAVE THE MULTIFUNCTIONAL FUSE BOX REPLACED. IN MARCH 2011, HE HAD A NEW BATTERY INSTALLED. TODAY HE IS WAITING FOR AAA TO JUMP HIS CAR AS IT WON'T START. I CALLED THE DEALER WHO INFORMED ME THAT THEIR ARE NO KNOWN RECALLS FOR THIS ISSUE. WE WERE TOLD BY ANOTHER DEALER THAT IT SOUNDS LIKE WATER IS GETTING INTO THE FUSE BOX MODULE DUE TO THE FRONT WINDOW NOT BEING PROPERLY SEALED . *TR
I HEARD ON THE RADIO ABOUT A POSSIBLE UPCOMING RECALL ON FORD F150 PICKUP TRUCKS (1997-2001). THIS IS IN RELATION TO GAS TANK STRAPS GETTING RUSTY AND BREAKING. I THEN DECIDED TO LOOK UNDER MY TRUCK WHICH IS A 2002 FORD F150 AND DISCOVERED TWO GAS TANK STRAPS COMPLETELY RUSTED THROUGH/OFF WITH THE TANK NO LONGER BEING SUPPORTED BY STRAPS. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT STATED THAT THE FIRE WAS SIMILAR TO ONES THEY HAD WITNESSED THAT STARTED FROM THE CRUISE CONTROL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED FOR THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 102,000.
