JULY 11,2009, WE HAVE A 2004 FORD F150 SUPERCREW WITH 56000. WE WERE IN TOWN AND LET THE REAR WINDOWS DOWN. THE LEFT REAR POPPED VERY LOUD AND THE WINDOW FELL INTO THE DOOR. I HAVE NOT FIXED IT. I TALKED TO THE LOCAL FORD DEALER ABOUT IT, HE SAID THERE IS NOT A RECALL AND WOULD COST ABOUT 400.00. FAST-FORWARD TO AUG. 6, 2009 MY WIFE WAS COMING HOME FROM SCHOOL(TEACHER) SHE LET THE DRIVERS WINDOW DOWN TO LET SOME OF THE HOT AIR OUT. SHE GOT ON THE HWY. AND STARTED ROLLING THE WINDOW UP ABOUT HALFWAY IT POPPED VERY LOUD . IT STARTLED HER SO BAD SHE JERKED TO THE RIGHT AND ENDED UP OFF THE ROAD. BEFORE SHE COULD STOP THE WINDOW HAD FALLEN INTO THE DOOR. SHE IS OK AND WAS ABLE TO DRIVE ON HOME WITH SHAKY NERVES. THIS IS CLEARLY A SAFETY ISSUE IN WHICH NHTSA OUGHT TO INVESTIGATE FERVENTLY. FORD NEEDS TO MAKE THIS RIGHT AND NOW BEFORE SOMEONE GETS REALLY HURT. *TR
FIRST INCIDENT: AUGUST, 2009 I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY GOING APPROXIMATELY 65 MILES AN HOUR WHEN THE BACK PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW STARTED DECENDING WITHOUT ANYONE PUSHING THE BUTTON. I WAS THEN UNABLE TO USE THE WINDOW AGAIN. MY INFANT SON WAS IN THE BACK SEAT NEXT TO THE WINDOW AND IT WAS RAINING. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP AND HAD THE WINDOW REGULATOR REPLACED. SECOND INCIDENT: JANUARY, 2010 ONCE AGAIN I WAS DRIVING AND THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW WENT DOWN WITHOUT PROMPTING AND NEVER WORKED AGAIN. I AM AN ATTORNEY AND WAS ON MY WAY TO THE COURTHOUSE AND WAS FORCED TO LEAVE MY CAR UNATTENDED FOR A SHORT AMOUNT OF TIME AND OBTAIN CONTINUANCES ON ALL OF MY CASES THAT DAY IN ORDER TO HAVE MY WINDOW REPAIRED. I WAS INFORMED THAT IT WAS THE WINDOW REGULATOR AND THE PART NEEDED REPLACED. THIRD INCIDENT: AUGUST, 2011 SAME SCENERIO, MY HUSBAND WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE ON THE HIGHWAY AT APPROX. 55 MPH WHEN HIS WINDOW DECENDED WITHOUT PROMPTING AND WE WERE UNABLE TO MAKE THE WINDOW WORK AGAIN. I HAD TO HAVE THE WINDOW REGULATOR REPLACED. BESIDES THE COST OF REPAIRS ($350.00 EACH WINDOW), I BELIEVE THAT THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD. I HAD AN INFANT BY THE WINDOW IN THE FIRST INCIDENT AND DRIVING AT SPEED THE WINDOW COULD HAVE SHATTERED. ALSO, ALL INCIDENTS OCCURED WHILE I WAS DRIVING AND PROVED QUITE DISTRACTING. IT COULD HAVE CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. LAST, BECAUSE I WAS UNABLE TO MAKE THE WINDOW(S) GO BACK UP I HAD TO LEAVE MY VEHICLE UNSECURED. *TT
2004 F150 5.4 TRITON 88,000 MILES. FOMOCO RECOMMENDS SPARK PLUG CHANGE AT 100,00 DEALER CHANGED 8 PLUGS BROKE 6.I WAS CHARGED A PLUG EXTRACTION FEE OF $85 PER PLUG IN ADDITION TO THE $320 INITIAL QUOTE.INTERNET RESEARCH AND WORD OF MOUTH SHOWS MANY,MANY INSTANCES WITH THE SAME PROBLEM.FOMOCO QUOTED"WE ARE NOT ASSISTING CUSTOMERS AT THIS TIME".DEFINITE ENGINEERING FLAW THEY DENY.FOMOCO EVEN INVENTED THEIR OWN EXTRACTION TOOL TO AID IN REMOVAL OF PLUGS. *TR
2004 FORD F150 CREWCAB POWER WINDOW REGULATOR FAILURE. THE FIRST ONE TO GO WAS ABOUT A YEAR AGO. IT WAS THE DRIVER'S DOOR WINDOW AND SCARED ME SO MUCH THAT I ALMOST HAD A ACCIDENT. TWO WEEKS AGO, THE RIGHT REAR WINDOW REGULATOR FAILED WITH THE SAME RESULTS. I TOOK THE FIRST FAILURE TO THE FORD DEALER AND THEY CHARGED ME APPROXIMATELY $250.00 TO REPAIR. I CALLED ON THE RECENT ONE AND THEY TOLD ME IT WOULD COST $385.00. I HAVEN'T FIXED THE CURRENT ONE BECAUSE I CAN'T AFFORD TO. *TR
WHILE DRIVING ON FREEWAY, LEFT REAR WINDOW REGULATOR FAILED AND WINDOW GLASS FELL FROM THE CLOSED POSITION WITH A LOUD BOOM. AS A RESULT OF THE LOUD CRASHING OF THE FALLING WINDOW GLASS AT FREEWAY SPEEDS COMBINED WITH THE SUDDEN AND VIOLENT GUST OF WIND AND DEBRIS INTO THE CAB NEARLY CAUSED ME TO LOOSE CONTROL, AND ROLL OVER. THIS IS THE THIRD INCIDENT I HAVE EXPERIENCED WITH WINDOW REGULATOR FAILURE ON THIS TRUCK. *TR
SECOND WINDOW DRIVE FAILURE IN 6 WEEKS. VERY LOUD BANG FROM DOOR (SOUNDS LIKE TRUCK IS HIT BY LARGE ROCK/HARD OBJECT) WHICH IS VERY STARTLING, THEN WINDOW GLASS SLIDES DOWN INTO DOOR. ON THE FREEWAY THIS IS EXTREMELY DISTRACTING AND DANGEROUS. THE FIRST WINDOW FAILURE (ONE MONTH AGO) COST ME $430.00 AT FORD DEALER TO REPAIR. I WAS NEVER INFORMED THAT THIS WAS A FREQUENT PROBLEM. AFTER SECOND FAILURE IN 4 WEEKS, I WENT ON THE WEB AND DISCOVERED THAT THIS IS HAPPENING TO THOUSANDS OF 2004-2005 F-150'S, AND FORD REFUSES TO ADDRESS IT! I'M WAITING TO TALK TO DEALERS SERVICE MANAGER ABOUT SECOND FAILURE TO TRY AND GET FORD TO PAY FOR THE REPAIRS, AS WELL AS INSPECT THE OTHER WINDOWS AND REPAIR THEM AS NECESSARY. IT'S ONLY A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE THEY FAIL AS WELL. - THIS IS A WELL-KNOWN DESIGN DEFECT!!! FORD HAS ALREADY CHANGED THE DESIGN/PART # FOR THE FAULTY PART (REGULATOR/CABLE ASSY) THREE TIMES- AND IT STILL FAILS WITHOUT WARNING! THESE TRUCKS SHOULD BE RECALLED AND FIXED AT FORD'S EXPENSE!!!! *TR
1. I WAS STOPPED AT A STOPLIGHT, I PUSHED THE BUTTON TO ROLL DOWN THE DRIVERSIDE WINDOW DOWN. 2. I HEAR A POP AND THE WINDOW DROPPED. I PUSHED THE BUTTON TO ROLL THE WINDOW UP AND I HEARD A MOTOR SOUND AND THE WINDOW WOULDN'T ROLL BACK UP. 3. THE WINDOW REGULATOR NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. *TR
FORD DEALERSHIP BROKE ALL 8 OF MY SPARK PLUGS, INITIALLY MY REPAIR COST WAS $609 BEFORE THEY BROKE MY PLUGS AND AFTER THEY ARE CHARGING ME $3200 TO FIX SOMETHING THAT WAS NOT CAUSED BY ME. *TR
MY WINDOW FELL DOWN WHILE I WAS DRIVING. THE REPLACEMENT PART IS OVER 350 DOLLARS AND IS THE SAME UNIT NOT A REDESIGNED/IMPROVED UNIT. IT'S BEEN THAT WAY FOR ALMOST A YEAR NOW; I CANNOT AFFORD TO REPLACE, SO IT'S RIGGED TO STAY SHUT, BUT IF I NEED ANYTHING I HAVE TO OPEN MY DOOR: I HOPE I NEVER GET PULLED OVER, THE COP WILL PROBABLY SHOOT ME IF I DON'T ROLL DOWN MY WINDOW AND I OPEN THE DOOR INSTEAD. *TR
WE PURCHASED OUR 2004 F150 IN SEPT/OCT OF '04. SHORTLY AFTER OUR MILEAGE WARRANTY EXPIRED (36,000) MILES OUR WINDOW ASSEMBLY REGULATOR BROKE AND WE HAD TO PAY OVER $400 FOR IT TO BE REPAIRED. A SHORT TIME LATER OUR SECOND WINDOW ASSEMBLY REGULATOR BROKE AND THEY ONLY ASKED US TO PAY 20% OF THE REPAIR BILL EQUALING $55. 9 MONTHS LATER OUR THIRD WINDOW REGULATOR ASSEMBLY BROKE. WHEN THESE WINDOWS REGULATORS BREAK IT IS DURING RANDOM TIMES AND WHILE DRIVING. NO ONE IS ROLLING THE WINDOWS DOWN THEY JUST ALL OF A SUDDEN FALL DOWN. WE WERE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY AT 65 MPH AND I HAD MY 12 MONTH OLD DAUGHTER SITTING NEXT TO THE WINDOW THAT BROKE AND SHE HAD HER HAND ON THE DOOR NEXT TO THE WINDOW. SHE ONLY HAD A SMALL RED MARK ON HER FINGER HOWEVER SHE WAS CRYING HYSTERICALLY BECAUSE IT SCARED HER. WHILE LOOKING ONLINE I HAVE FOUND THOUSANDS OF OTHER COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE WINDOW REGULATORS BREAKING ON THESE TRUCKS. WHEN WE CALLED TO GET THE TRUCK REPAIRED THE HAD THE PART IN STOCK AND WITHIN US MAKING A DECISION OF WHEN TO BRING THE TRUCK IN AN HOUR AND A HALF LATER THE PART WAS ALREADY USED. THE REPAIR TECH SAID THAT IT IS THEIR MOST COMMON PROBLEM. I FEEL THAT THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE. IF MY DAUGHTERS HAND HAD BEEN ANY CLOSER IT WOULD HAVE BEEN SEVERELY PINCHED. WHAT IF THE WINDOW WERE TO SHATTER WHILE GOING DOWN ON THE FREEWAY AT THOSE SPEEDS? FORD IS UNWILLING TO REPAIR OUR FOURTH WINDOW AND WE FEAR IT IS JUST A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE IT BREAKS AS WELL. *TR
WINDOW CONTROL CABLES FAILED TO CONTROL THE WINDOW IN THE DRIVERS DOOR. THE WINDOW FELL INTO THE DOOR. THE REPAIR OF THE DOOR COST 400 DOLLARS TO REPLACE THE CHEAPLY MADE CABLE SYSTEM INSIDE THE DOOR. FORD SERVICE PERSON STATED "IT HAPPENS ALOT TO THIS YEAR OF TRUCK". *TR
WHILE DRIVING MY 2004 FORD F-150 CREWCAB PICKUP TRUCK ONE DAY, I HEARD A 'POP' (LIKE A ROCK HIT MY WINDOW) ON THE DRIVER SIDE WINDOW, AND THE NEXT DAY I HEAR IT AGAIN. THE NEXT NIGHT MY DRIVER SIDE WINDOW FELL INTO MY DOOR WHILE OUT DRIVING AND SCARED ME SO BAD IT MADE ME SWERVE OFF THE ROAD. A POLICE OFFICER SAW THIS AND ACCUSED ME OF BEING INTOXICATED SO I THEREFORE HAD TO GO THROUGH A FIELD SOBRIETY AND BREATHALIZER TEST. THE POLICE OFFICER APOLOGIZED BUT IT WAS VERY NERVE RACKING TO GO THROUGH THAT. THAT NIGHT I TOOK MY DOOR APART TO FIND A JUNGLE OF WIRES IN MY DOOR THAT ONCE CONNECTED TO THE TRACKS THAT HELD MY WINDOW IN PLACE. IT IS NOT REPAIRABLE, BUT REPLACEABLE SO THEREFORE I AM VERY UPSET. I HAVE BEEN WORKING ON CARS SINCE I WAS FOURTEEN YEAR OLD, AND NEVER HAVE I SEEN SUCH A HORRIBLE IDEA FOR A WINDOW MOTOR. THIS SHOULD BE RECALLED IMMEDIATELY AND SHOULD BE TREATED AS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE. I AM VERY THANKFUL THAT I COMMUTED ON BACK COUNTRY ROADS THIS NIGHT BECAUSE IF I WERE TO BE ON THE INTERSTATE OR A HIGHWAY, THERE IS NO DOUBT IN MY MIND THAT I WOULD HAVE WRECKED AND BEEN SERIOUSLY HURT OR EVEN KILLED. THE NOISE WAS SO LOUD AND QUICK IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO PREPARE FOR IT AND AFTER REVIEWING THE DESIGN OF THESE WINDOW MOTORS, REGULATORS, AND ELEVATOR CABLES, IT SEEMS AS IF FAILURE IS INEVITABLE AND IS ONLY A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE THEY BREAK. I JUST HOPE THE OTHER THREE WINDOWS DON'T GIVE OUT BEFORE THEY RECALL THEM. *TR
I WHEN TO ROLL DOWN MY WINDOW AND IT STARTED DOWN THEN I HEARD A LOUD BANG AND THE GLASS FELL INSIDE THE DOOR THIS IS A CONCERN BECAUSE SOME COULD STILL MY STUFF OUT OF MY TRUCK OR EVEN STILL IT RIGHT NOW I HAVE IT RIGGED WHERE IT WILL STAY UP BUT I CAN NOT ROLL DOWN OR USE MY WINDOW. *TR
WE STOPED TO GET GAS AND I WENT TO SHUT THE DOOR AND MY HUSBAND SAID THE WINDOW JUST FELL INTO THE DOOR AND THEN HE TRIED TO ROLL IT UP AND IT MAD A CRACKING NOISE AND WOULD NOT WORK. THIS IS THE THIRD WINDOW IN OUR FORD F150 THAT WE HAVE REPLACED AND COST $450.00. THIS IS A PROBLEM AND FORD NEEDS TO DO A RECALL ON THIS WINDOW REGULATOR PROBLEM. *TR
ROLLED DOWN MY DRIVER'S WINDOW, STARTED ROLLING IT BACK UP HEARD A LOUD POP, WINDOW FELL DOWN & WOULDN'T ROLL BACK UP . MY MECHANIC SAID HE HAS HAD ALOT OF THE SAME PROBLEMS. *TR
DRIVERS WINDOW WAS UP, I HEARD A LOUD POP ANT THE WINDOW STARTED TO GO DOWN ALL BY ITSELF, TRIED PUSHING BUTTON TO ROLL UP WINDOW BUT DID NOT WORK. I WAS ON MY WAY HOME FROM A FUNERAL I WAS AT OUT OF STATE. MIDWAY BETWEEN LANDER WY AND AUSTIN TX IS WHEN THE INCIDENT WITH THE WINDOW HAPPENED. THERE WAS WIND AND RAIN AND BY THE TIME I GOT HOME I COULD NOT HEAR. I BELIEVE THAT THIS IS A SAFTEY ISSUE AND THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL ONTHE WINDOW REGULATOR. *TR
WINDOW REGULATOR FAILED WITHOUT ANY WARNING. *TR
WHILE DRIVING, I HEARD A LOUD BANG AND THEN THE DRIVERS' SIDE WINDOW FELL DOWN INTO THE DOOR WITH A LOUD CRASH. IT SCARED THE HECK OUT OF ME, AS I THOUGHT SOMEONE HAD HIT ME OR BEEN HIT BY DEBRIS ON THE HIGHWAY. THIS CAUSED ME TO HIT MY BRAKES BECAUSE I WAS VERY CONFUSED FOR A MOMENT LOOKING AROUND FOR WHAT HAPPENED. THIS MADE SEVERAL DRIVERS BEHIND ME SLAM ON THEIR BRAKES AND OF COURSE HONK AT ME BECAUSE THEY COULD SEE NO REASON FOR THE HARD BRAKING. AFTER GETTING HOME AND FIGURING OUT WHAT HAPPENED, I LOOKED UP THE PROBLEM ON THE INTERNET AN FOUND LITERALLY HUNDREDS OF POSTS FROM OTHER FORD OWNERS REGARDING THE SAME PROBLEM. I ALSO FOUND IT WILL WILL ACTUALLY HAPPEN TO ALL FOUR OF MY WINDOWS BECAUSE THE PLASTIC PIECE USED AT THE END OF THE CABLE BRAKES DUE HEAT/COLD/MOISTURE. THE REPLACEMENT CABLE IS NOT AVAILABLE AS A SEPARATE PART, BUT INSTEAD MUST BE PURCHASED AS PART OF THE WHOLE MOTOR ASSEMBLY WHICH COSTS APPROXIMATELY $350/$400 PER WINDOW AFTER THE COST FOR PARTS AND LABOR TO INSTALL. *TR
STARTED IN JUNE 2008 WITH DRIVER'S WINDOW DROPPING INTO DOOR. JULY 2008 REAR DRIVER'S SIDE WINDOW DID SAME. NOW JULY 18, 2009 REAR PASSENGER'S WINDOW DID SAME. EACH TIME DEALER REFUSES TO SAY THAT ITS A PROBLEM. SAY MINE IS THE ONLY TRUCK DOING THIS. TRUCK ONLY HAS 36,000 MILES. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 FORD F-150 SUPER CREW. WHILE BACKING OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED, THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW FELL INTO THE DOOR. THE CONTACT CALLED THE DEALER TO SEE IF THERE WAS A RECALL REGARDING THE REGULATOR, BUT THERE WAS NOT. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BY AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. A FEW MONTHS LATER, THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW FELL INTO THE DOOR AS WELL WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED. THROUGH ONLINE RESEARCH, THE CONTACT DISCOVERED NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS FOR THE WINDOW FOR HER YEAR, MAKE, AND MODEL VEHICLE. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER AGAIN TO SEE WHY THERE WAS NO RECALL FOR THE REGULATOR. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THEY WOULD HAVE THE VEHICLE INSPECTED BY THE DEALER TO CHECK IF IT QUALIFIES FOR AFTER WARRANTY FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE. THE DEALER PROVIDED THE CONTACT WITH A QUOTE FOR THE REPAIR COST. SHE FEELS THAT THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE THERE WAS NO WARNING WHEN THE WINDOWS FELL. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 31,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 29,000. UPDATED 9/17/09 * CN UPDATED 09/21/09*JB
I HAVE A 2004 FORD F150, IN THE PAST YEAR I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE BOTH PASSENGER AND DRIVER SIDE WINDOW REGULATORS DUE TO THE WINDOWS JUST SUDDENLY DROPPING INTO THE DOOR PANEL AND WILL NOT COME BACK UP, FORD HAS CHARGED ME $380 BOTH TIMES! I HAVE READ HUNDREDS OF THESE SAME TYPES OF COMPLAINTS AND NOTHING IS BEING DONE TO PROTECT THE CONSUMER. *TR

FRONT DRIVER SIDE WINDOW FELL INTO DOOR WHILE OPERATING VEHICLE. THIS IS THE THIRD WINDOW THAT HAS FALLEN OUT OF THIS VEHICLE WHICH HAS ONLY 75,000 MILES. *TR
PASSENGER FRONT WINDOW POPPED AND FELL DOWN INTO THE DOOR AND DOES NOT WORK FROM THE SWITCH. THIS IS NUMBER 3 ON THIS TRUCK. *TR
WINDOW REGULATOR FOR 2004 FORD F150 WITHOUT ANY NOTICE THE WINDOW WILL JUST DROP THE LITTLE PLASTIC ASSEMBLY JUST BREAK WITHOUT ANY WARNING AND HAVE TO PULL YOUR WINDOW OUT OF THE DOOR. THIS IS A JUNKY SETUP FOR A HEAVY DUTY TRUCK. *TR
NO ACCESS TO SPARE TIRE: 2004 FORD F-150 "HERITAGE" (2003 BODY STYLE) SPARE STORED UNDER TRUCK BED LOWERS USING "KEY" AND WINCH.THE WINCH AND KEY ARE SUPPOSED TO ENGAGE VIA A "STAR SHAPED" INDENTATION. IF THIS DOES NOT ENGAGE ONE CANNOT LOWER THE SPARE TIRE FOR USE. THE REPLACEMENT (FORD REFUSES TO PAY FOR)COMES RE-DESIGNED SO THAT ONE ACTUALLY INSERTS THE LOWERING ROD INTO THE WINCH.THERE IS NO "STAR" TO STRIP OUT OR BE WORN DOWN. WITH A FLAT TIRE ON A BUSY ROAD AND ONE UNDER THE TRUCK TRYING TO ACCESS A SPARE TIRE CONSTITUTES A LIFE THREATENING SITUATION. FORD HAS SOLD THE RE-DESIGN AS A REPLACEMENT AND THIS IN ITSELF IS AN ADMISSION OF A DEFECTIVE PRODUCT DESIGN. DEALERSHIP INFORMED ME THAT THEY SIMPLY CUT THE TIRE FREE AND REPLACE THE WINCH AT CUSTOMER COST. *TR
ALL FOUR OF MY WINDOW REGULATORS ON MY 2004 FORD F-150 HAVE GONE OUT I HAVE READ TONS OF OTHER STORYS ABOUT THIS PROBLEM PLEASE HELP ME. THE WINDOWS ON MY FORD F-150 TRUCK HAVE A FAULTY PART. I'VE HAD TO REPLACE 3 WINDOW REGULATORS WITHIN 6 MONTHS. THE LAST TWO BEING LESS THAN A MONTH APART. THE ONLY ANSWER I GET FROM THE DEALER IS THAT WHEN ONE GOES THE REST GO. THAT'S UNACCEPTABLE! THIS HAS COST ME OVER $400 EACH TIME. I DRIVE A 2004 FORD F150 AND I AM NOW ON MY 3RD WINDOW REGULATOR REPLACEMENT. I HAVE TALKED TO MANY PEOPLE WHO HAVE HAD THE SAME EXACT PROBLEM AND WE ARE SICK OF PAYING GOOD MONEY FOR A HORRIBLY MADE VEHICLE. IT IS A RISK TO CARRY ANYTHING IN MY TRUCK BECAUSE IT COULD BE STOLEN DUE TO MY WINDOWS FALLING DOWN SPORADICALLY. I THINK A RECALL IS DEFINATELY IN ORDER. *TR
I WAS SITTING IN MY 2004 F150 ON MY LUNCH BREAK WHEN I PUSHED THE BUTTON TO ROLL MY DRIVER'S SIDE WINDOW DOWN THEN IT FELL. LUCKILY I WASN'T DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY. I REFUSE TO PAY $400+ OUT OF MY POCKET TO FIX THIS SINCE IT IS FORD'S RESPONSIBILITY FOR PRODUCING POOR QUALITY PARTS. I FIXED IT BY DISASSEMBLING THE DOOR PANEL, MANUALLY PUSHING THE WINDOW UP, AND NOW A PAIR OF VISE GRIPS HOLD THE WINDOW UP. THE OLD PARTS ARE STILL IN MY DOOR AND AVAILABLE. *TR
FORD F-150 WITH TRITON ENGINE. I SERVICED SPARK PLUGS AT 99,000 MILES PER FORD MANUAL. PLUGS SNAPPED OFF WHEN MECHANICS TRIED TO REMOVE THEM EVEN WITH SPECIAL TOOLS. THE GARAGE SAID I WAS LUCKY THAT IT ONLY COST $1200 TO CHANGE THE PLUGS. THEY DIDN'T HAVE TO PULL THE HEADS ON THE ENGINE WHICH COULD HAVE COST THOUSANDS. GARAGE SAID THIS DEFECT WAS COMMON ON TRITON ENGINES. I CALLED FORD. THEIR REPLY WAS THAT THEY WOULDN'T DO ANYTHING BECAUSE THIS IS A MAINTENANCE PART. INTERESTING TO NOTE THAT FORD NOW SUPPLIES THE NEW PLUGS WITH A TUBE OF GREASE SO THE PLUG THREADS DON'T LOCK UP IN THE ENGINE HEAD. OTHER POSTS ON THIS SITE DETAIL SIMILAR PROBLEMS PLUS PLUGS BLOWING OUT OF THE HEADS. ONE NEEDS TO WONDER IF FORD DIDN'T TRANSFER THEIR BLOW OUT PROBLEM TO THE REST OF US BY TIGHTENING THE PLUGS TOO TIGHTLY AT THE FACTORY. *TR

I WAS ABLE TWO CATCH WINDOW BEFORE IT FELL INTO DOOR AND SHATTERED. I HAVE CALLED FORD MOTOR CO ABOUT THIS PROBLEM AND HAVE GOTTEN PASSED FROM ONE PERSON TO ANOTHER WITHOUT ANY RESULTS . THE DEALER HAS BEEN NO HELP AT ALL EITHER. I ALMOST CRASHED MY TRUCK DO TO THE WINDOWS SHATTERING AND HOW SCARED MY FAMILY WAS WHEN GLASS SHATTERED ALL OVER THEM. THIS IS A BIG PROBLEM. 2004 F150 4.6LTR ENGINE. SPARK PLUG BLOW OUT #3 CYLINDER 64865 MILES. ORIGINAL FACTORY PARTS. SPOKE DIRECTLY TO FORD MOTORS THEY ACT AS IF THIS IS MY FAULT. THE PARTS HAVE NEVER BEEN CHANGED. FORD TOLD ME IT IS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRENTY BECAUSE THIS IS A MAINTANENCE PART. THE DEALER TOLD ME THAT THIS HAS BEEN A BIG PROBLEM FOR FORD. BUT THEY WONT HONOR TO FIX THE PROBLEM EVEN THOUGH IT IS A MECHANICAL FAILURE DUE TO BAD DESIGN. IT COST 600.00 TO FIX AND I BELEIVE THIS SHOULD BE COVERED BY FORD DUE TO THE NUMBER OF INSTENCES. THERE WERE TWO TRUCKS FIXED THE SAME DAY FOR THE SAME PROBLEM AND AGAIN THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT SAID THIS HAS BEEN A BIG ISSUE. I WOULD LIKE THIS TO BE RESOLVED. THE CONSUMER SHOULD NOT HAVE TO WORRIE ABOUT A SPARK PLUG BLOWING OUT WHILE DRIVING. THIS IS A SAFTEY ISSUE BECAUSE FUEL KEEPS FLOWING INTO THE CYLINDER AND WHEN IGNIGHTS FLAMES FLY OUT THROUGH THE SPARK PLUG HOLE. THIS IS THE THIRD WINDOW IN MY FORD F150 THAT HAS FALLEN INTO THE DOOR, THE LAST TWO WERE FIXED BY THE REGULATORS BEING REPLACED. I AM GETTING FED UP WITH THIS, I LOOKED ONLINE, AND SO FAR HAVE SEEN WELL OVER 450 OTHER COMPLAINTS ON THIS SAME VEHICLE. THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED TO THE DRIVER'S FRONT DOOR WINDOW WHILE I WAS DRIVING. THE WINDOW WAS ROLLED UP, AND ALL OF A SUDDEN I HEARD A LOUD POP, AND THE WINDOW FELL DOWN INTO THE DOOR. THE REGULATOR HAD TO BE REPLACED, ALONG WITH SOME WIRING THAT WAS DAMAGED FROM THE WINDOW FALLING. THE SECOND TIME IT HAPPENED TO THE RIGHT REAR PASSENGER DOOR. THE WINDOW WAS ROLLED DOWN, AND WHEN I WENT TO ROLL IT UP, IT MADE IT ABOUT HALF WAY UP, THEN AGAIN THE LOUD POP, AND THEN THE WINDOW SLOWLY SLID BACK INTO THE DOOR, AGAIN THE REGULATOR HAD TO BE REPLACED. AND JUST RECENTLY, BARELY A YEAR LATER, THAT SAME RIGHT REAR PASSENGER WINDOW HAS BROKEN AGAIN. THIS TIME I NOTICED IT WHEN I WENT OUTSIDE TO GET INTO MY TRUCK, THE WINDOW WAS DOWN, AND IT WOULDN'T ROLL UP, THE MOTOR JUST SPINS FREELY. NOW I WILL PROBABLY BE FORCED TO SPEND ANOTHER $300 OR SO TO FIX THE PROBLEM. I BELIEVE FROM THE FREQUENCY AND NUMBER OF VEHICLES AFFECTED THAT THIS SHOULD BE A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN, BUT FORD REFUSES TO ADDRESS THE PROBLEM. *TR

THERE IS ALREADY A TSB FOR THE PROBLEM BUT FORD SHOULD REALLY RECALL THE CAM PHASERS ON THE 2004 AND NEWER F150'S. MOST PEOPLE IN THIS ECONOMY CANNOT AFFORD TO THROW 2 GRAND INTO THERE CAR TO HAVE A FACTORY DEFECT FIXED AND FORD WON'T STEP UP TO THE PLATE. ON JUNE 29, 2009 WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE ON A BUSY CITY STREET THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION SUDDENLY AND WITHOUT WARNING APPEARED TO SHIFT INTO NEUTRAL. THERE WAS NO NOISE OR ANY INDICATION OF THE CATASTROPHIC FAILURE THAT HAD OCCURRED. THE ENGINE REVVED WITH NO RESPONSE FROM THE TRANSMISSION. WHILE TRYING TO AVOID TRAFFIC AS THE VEHICLE SLOWED I ATTEMPTED TO CLEAR TRAFFIC LANES AS SAFELY AS POSSIBLE. THE TRANSMISSION WAS SHIFTED DOWN INTO SECOND GEAR AS I SLOWED TO SEE IF THIS HAD ANY EFFECT ON THE TRANSMISSION. THE VEHICLE IMMEDIATELY RESPONDED AND I PULLED OUT OF TRAFFIC LANES. I IMMEDIATELY CHECKED THE FLUID LEVEL AND IT WAS IN STANDARD OPERATING RANGE. I THEN DISENGAGED THE OVERDRIVE OF THE TRANSMISSION AND THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN HOME. AN INSPECTION OF THE VEHICLE FOUND THE OVERDRIVE CLUTCH PACK FAILED. THIS VEHICLE IS WELL MAINTAINED, DOES NOT TOW ANYTHING AND IS DRIVEN TO AND FROM WORK, 30 MILES EACH WAY. THE REPAIR IS $2500.00 FOR A 5 YEAR OLD VEHICLE WITH 69,700 MILES. I BELIEVE THIS STANDARD EQUIPMENT FROM FORD WAS NOT DESIGNED TO PERFORM AT AN ADEQUATE PERFORMANCE LEVEL AS EXPECTED FROM A CONSUMER. THE CONSUMERS WHO PURCHASE NEW FORD VEHICLES SHOULD BE ABLE TO EXPECT THE PRODUCT TO LAST LONGER THAN THE PAYMENTS ONE MAKES ON THE NEW VEHICLE! *TR
THIS IS REGARDING OUR REAR SEATBELTS FAILING ON OUR 2004 FORD F-150 1. MY WIFE PUTTING OUR CAR SEATS BACK IN THE TRUCK 2.
