CNG REGULATOR LEAKING COMPRESSED NATURAL GAS INTO ENGINE COMPARTMENT. *TR
TRUCK(83000 MILES) WAS PARKED IN DRIVEWAY. WENT AND STARTED AND THE TRUCK BEGAN TO SPUTTER AND SHAKE AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. TRUCK WOULD NOT ACCELERATE AND I TOOK TO DEALER. BEGAN TO SHAKE EVEN MORE AND LOSE POWER. PROBLEM WAS TIMING CHAIN TENSIONER FAILURE WHICH CAUSED FAILURE TO ENGINE. ENGINES NEEDS REPLACED. DEALER EXPLAINED THAT THIS CAN HAPPEN AT ANY TIME AND USUALLY CAUSES MAJOR ENGINE DAMAGE AND FAILURE. *TR
THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH FORD F150 WINDOW REGULATOR CABLES. THEY ARE UNDER PRESSURE, FAIL AND SNAP WITH AN EXTREMELY LOUD BANG. THE ONE ON MY DRIVER'S SIDE FRONT DOOR WINDOW FAILED ON 07/17/08 AT 23,446 MILES WHEN I WAS GOING DOWN THE ROAD AT ABOUT 35 MPH. THE NOISE WAS SO LOUD I THOUGHT SOMEONE SHOT MY DOOR, CAUSING ME JUMP AND SWERVE IN MY LANE. THE ONE ON MY FRONT PASSENGER'S SIDE WINDOW DOOR FAILED ON 08/24/09 AT 30,779 MILES GOING DOWN THE FREEWAY AT 70 MPH. INTERNET RESEARCH REVEALS THAT THIS IS OCCURRING TO MANY PEOPLE. THIS PIECE IS OBVIOUSLY DEFECTIVE AND THE PROBLEM SHOULD BE REMEDIED BY FORD BEFORE SOMEONE GETS HURT. *TR
I WENT TO PUT UP THE PASSENGER SIDE REAR WINDOW, HEARD A SNAP, THEN THE WINDOW SANK INTO THE DOOR. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE, BOTH POTENTIALLY FOR THEFT AND FOR INJURY. I AM NO LONGER COVERED UNDER WARRANTY, FOR THIS ISSUE. THERE ARE MANY FORD F150 OWNERS EXPERIENCING THE SAME ISSUE, ON MULTIPLE WINDOWS AND IS AN ONGOING ISSUE. I AM HAVING THE WINDOW REGULATOR REPLACED AT SIGNIFICANT EXPENSE. I'VE OWNED VEHICLES 10 YEARS AND NEVER HAD THIS PROBLEM, AND YES, THEY WERE FORDS TOO. *TR
THIS HAS BEEN ONGOING FOR ABOUT 10 MONTHS. ON AN INFREQUENT BASIS, THE TRANSMISSION, WHEN DECELERATING, STARTS TO GROWL LOUDLY AND WILL NOT STOP UNTIL I COME TO A COMPLETE STOP. I HAVE SPOKEN TO OTHER F-150 OWNERS AND THEY HAVE INFORMED ME OF SIMILAR COMPLAINTS. TO DATE, NO CRASHES OR INJURIES ARE KNOWN BY ME, BUT I FEEL FORD IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS OBVIOUS DEFECT. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 FORD F150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TWO REAR WINDOWS AND THE DRIVER SIDE WINDOWS ALL FELL DOWN INTO THE DOOR FRAME. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE REGULATOR FAILED. THE CONTACT WENT TO TWO DIFFERENT DEALERS AND EACH ONE REPAIRED ONE WINDOW AT THE CONTACT'S EXPENSE. THE DEALERS STATED THAT THEY WOULD REIMBURSE HER, BUT THE CONTACT HAS NOT YET RECEIVED ANY COMPENSATION. THE DEALERS FURTHER STATED THAT THEY WOULD NOT PAY FOR THE THIRD WINDOW AT ALL, ALTHOUGH THE CONTACT BELIEVES THIS IS THEIR RESPONSIBILITY. THERE ARE NO RECALLS ON THESE WINDOWS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 58,000.
JULY 08 DRIVERSIDE POWER WINDOW REGULATOR ASSEMBLY FAILED, $400 REPAIRED AUG 08 PASSENGER SIDE POWER WINDOW REGULATOR ASSEMBLY FAILED, $400 REPAIRED OCT 08 REAR DRIVERSIDE POWER WINDOW REGULATOR ASSEMBLY FAILURE, NOT YET REPAIRED ALL WINDS BECAME STUCK IN THE DOWN POSITION. *TR
TRANSMISSONS BEGAN SHIFTING UP AND DOWN TOO OFTEN.. NEXT A HUM AND THEN JERKS IN BETWEEN SHIFTS. TOOK IT TO AAMCO AND RAN DIAGNOSTICS.. RESULTS WERE INTERNAL DAMAGE. DROVE TRUCK HOME AND BACK THE NEXT DAY FOR REPLACEMENT COST $2,200.00 NOMAL USE WITH OCCASSIONAL 4X DRIVE. 114K MILES *TR
I PURCHASED MY 04 FORD F150 BRAND NEW BACK IN 04 FROM PAUL MILLER FORD DEALERSHIP IN LEXINGTON KY. SINCE THAT TIME, NO REAL PROBLEMS. IN JULY OF THIS YEAR THE PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW WITHOUT REASON OR CIRCUMSTANCE FELL OFF TRACK AND INTO DOOR LEAVING ME TO PAY FOR A NEW WINDOW REGULATOR. REPAIR WAS MADE AT CROSSROADS FORD IN FRANKFORT KY. IN SEPTEMBER OF THIS YEAR THE SAME ISSUE OCCURRED WITH THE DRIVER SIDE WINDOW LEAVING ME AGAIN TO PAY FOR THE REPAIR WHEN IT HAPPENED WITHOUT REASON. SEARCHING ON LINE, I DISCOVERED THAT MANY MORE OWNERS OF THE SAME MAKE AND MODEL HAVE EXPERIENCED THE SAME. I HAVE ALREADY PAID NEARLY 300.00 IN REPAIRS AFTER THE ESP. OCTOBER 3, I CONTACTED FORD DEALERSHIP WHO ADVISED ME THERE ARE NO RECALLS ON MY VEHICLE AND THAT THEY WOULD NOT ASSUME ANY FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITY FOR THIS ISSUE. I CAN UNDERSTAND 1 WINDOW, BUT NOW 2 AND THERE ARE 2 REAR WINDOWS THAT MAY POTENTIALLY DO THE SAME. I ALSO BELIEVE THERE IS A LEAK IN THE 3RD BRAKE LIGHT ON MY VEHICLE WHERE WATER CONTINUES TO POOR IN; HOWEVER, FORD DENIES THAT AS WELL. IN BOTH OF THESE REPAIRS AT CROSSROADS, THE WINDOW REGULATORS WERE REPLACED AND NO REASON AS TO WHY BOTH WOULD FAIL. THERE WERE NO PRECEDING EVENTS TO REPORT, THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN BOTH INSTANCES WHEN THESE HAPPENED. HOPEFULLY SOMEONE ELSE HAS REPORTED THIS SIMILAR. *TR
VEHICLE WINDOW REGULATOR FAILS. IT IS ASSOCIATED WITH A LOUD BANG. THE WINDOW THEN FALLS INTO THE DOOR. THE WINDOW IS NOW UNABLE TO BE MOVED. THE VEHICLE IS NOW NOT ABLE TO BE SECURED. THIS IS THE THIRD WINDOW REGULATOR FAILURE ON MY VEHICLE. STARTED WITH DRIVERS SIDE, THEN PASSENGER SIDE, NOW THE PASSENGER SIDE REAR FAILED. DEALER REPORTED THAT THIS IS VERY COMMON AND IS DUE TO A FAULTY PART. FORD WILL NOT ADDRESS THIS PROBLEM AND FAILS TO FIX / REPLACE THE REGULATORS UNTIL THEY FAIL. THIS PART NEEDS TO BE RECALLED AND ALL WINDOWS FIXED PRIOR TO FAILURE. *TR

I PURCHASED MY 2004 F-150 THREE MONTHS AGO AND I HAVE NOW HAD TO REPLACE THE WINDOW REGULATOR THREE TIMES (TWO ON THE SAME WINDOW). I HAVE FOUND MANY COMPLAINTS ONLINE FROM CONSUMERS WITH THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM. FORD NEEDS TO STEP UP AND RECOGNIZE THIS PROBLEM. IT COSTS ANYWHERE FROM $200.00 TO $400.00 TO GET IT REPAIRED EACH TIME. 2004/5 FORD F150, 33,000 ROAD MILES (NEVER BEEN OFF ROAD) PARKED AT TRAFFIC LIGHTS IN MY TRUCK WHEN THE FRONT DRIVERS SIDE COILS SPRING COLLAPSED. HAVING INSPECTED THE FAILED PART, IT HAS NOT FAILED IN THE NORMAL FRACTURE STRAIGHT THROUGH THE COIL BUT DIAGONALLY THROUGH IT, SURELY THIS MUST BE A MANUFACTURING FLAW. SO GLAD I WAS STATIONARY WHEN IT HAPPENED. *TR
I HAVE A 2004 F150 PU I PURCHASED THE TRUCK USED,SUPPOSEDLY A DEMO. DRIVING HOME THE STEERING LOCKED UP I THOUGHT MAYBE A BELT AFTER NURSING THE TRUCK HOME I LOOKED AND THE BELT WAS INTACT I GOT SOME INFO FROM A MECHANIC FRIEND HE SUGGESTED THE POWER STEERING PUMP I CHANGED THAT (THE TRUCK IS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY IT ONLY HAS 52000 MILES ON IT) AFTER CHECKING IT OUT FURTHER I NOTICED IT HAS TWO DIFFERENT STYLE TIERODS ON IT AND NOTICED THAT BOTH UPPER BALL JOINTS AR BAD THE TRUCK WAS A JUST INSPECTED IN NOV. NOTHING WAS SAID THAT THE WAS ANY TROUBLE WITH ANYTHING ANY WAY I TRIED TO E MAIL FORD CUSTOMER RELATIONS CENTER I WAS TOLD TO CONTACT DEALER( I HAD PROBLEMS WITH ANOTHER FORD TRUCK AND WHEN I COMPLAINED ABOUT THAT TRUCK THE MANGER TOLD ME I WAS NUTS HIS SERVICE THAN TEST DROVE THE TRUCK AND STATED THAT THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE SHIMMY IN THE FRONT END OF THE TRUCK BUT COULD NOT FIND CAUSE)SO I DID NOT TALK TO THIS PERSON MY POINT IS WITH ONLY 52,000 MILES ON IT THE BALL JOINTS SHOULD NOT BE BAD AND SHOULD NOT HAVE TO BE REPLACED AND WITH PAYING 500. A MONTH FOR A PAYMENT I CANNOT AFFORD TO REPAIR THE TRUCK ON MY OWN(OR SHOULD NOT HAVE TO) CAN YOU HELP IN ANY WAY? *TR
IN APRIL 2008 THE RIGHT REAR WINDOW FELL DUE TO A BROKEN REGULATOR AND JUST TODAY THE DRIVER WINDOW DID THE SAME. TWO MONTHS FROM EACH OTHER IS NOT RIGHT TWO YEARS MAYBE BUT NOT TOO MONTHS. I WOULD LIKE SOMETHING DONE IMMEDIATELY. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 FORD F-150. WHEN THE CONTACT OPENED THE REAR PASSENGER WINDOW TO AIR OUT THE VEHICLE, SHE HEARD A POPPING SOUND. THE WINDOW FELL ALL THE WAY DOWN INSIDE THE VEHICLE DOOR. THIS IS THE THIRD WINDOW TO FAIL IN THIS MANNER WITHIN A YEAR AND A HALF. THE ONLY WINDOW WHICH HAS NOT DONE THIS IS THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 70,000.
3 OUT OF 4 OF MY WINDOWS FELL INTO THE DOOR FRAME. KNOWN FAULTY REGULATOR (FORD KNOWS THIS PART IS FAULTY) BROKE. TWO OF THE REGULATORS BROKE WHILE VEHICLE WAS IN OPERATION. *TR
FAILURE OF PASSENGER, REAR LEFT, REAR RIGHT WINDOWS WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY. AT DIFFERENT TIMES. TOOK IT TO DEALER FOR REPAIR. COST ABOUT 416.00 EACH TIME. *TR
I'M DRIVING MY TRUCK WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN IT WILL START VIBRATING HORRIBLY, LIKE DRIVING OVER A WASHBOARD TYPE OF ROAD. THE ONLY WAY TO GET IT TO STOP IS TO PULL OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY, PUT IT IN PARK, WAIT, AND THEN TRY TO RESUME DRIVING. BUT THIS DOES NOT ALWAYS WORK. YOU SOMETIMES HAVE TO STOP AND CHANGE TO PARK, OR REVERSE, A COUPLE OF TIMES, BEFORE DRIVING AGAIN SO THAT THE VIBRATION GOES AWAY. I HAVE COMPLAINED ABOUT THIS BEFORE, AND I SEE HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS FOR THE SAME ISSUE ON "FORD OWNER WEBSITES", AND EVERYBODY IS PISSED. NOBODY CAN GET AN ANSWER FROM FORD SERVICE AS TO WHAT IS WRONG. MANY PEOPLE HAVE REPLACED MANY DIFFERENT THINGS (I.E. TRANSMISSION, CLUTCH PADS, BEARINGS, U-JOINTS, EMERGENCY BRAKE CABLE OR PADS), ALL TO NO AVAIL. THEY HAVE WASTED THEIR TIME AND MONEY, AND FORD REFUSES TO LIVE UP TO THIS AWFUL AND VERY DANGEROUS PROBLEM. APPARENTLY, FORD KNOWS THIS IS A BIG PROBLEM WITH 2004 F-150 TRUCKS, ESPECIALLY, BUT WILL NOT ACKNOWLEDGE IT. SOMEONE WROTE ON THE WEB THAT FORD KNOWS THEY HAD A RETOOLING PROBLEM WITH THESE TRUCKS, AND LET THE TRUCKS GO OUT FOR SALE ANYWAY. I AM NOW HAVING THIS PROBLEM MORE OFTEN, AND I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE IT. I DO NOT HAVE ANY MONEY TO FIX MY TRUCK, SINCE OUR ECONOMY IS SO BAD AND HAVE BEEN UNEMPLOYED FOR YEARS. SEVERE SHUDDERING FROM REAR END DURING LOW SPEED TURNS.
THREE INCIDENTS WITH THE POWER WINDOWS HAVE OCCURRED IN THE PAST TWO YEARS. WINDOWS HAVE FALLEN AND WON'T ROLL BACK UP. THE REGULATORS SEEMS TO KEEP BREAKING WITH NORMAL OPERATION. THE FIRST ONE TO GO WAS THE REAR DRIVERSIDE DOOR, THEN 6 MONTHS LATER, THE FRONT DRIVERS SIDE DOOR, THEN 4 MONTHS LATER THE FRONT PASSENGERS SIDE DOOR. *TR
REAR PASSENGER WINDOW FELL INTO DOOR WITHOUT BEING OPENED, APPEARS THAT THE WINDOW HARDWARE BROKE CAUSING THE WINDOW TO FALL. MOTOR STILL WORKS, BUT WINDOW CAN BE OPENED/CLOSED BY HAND. *TR
MY PASSENGER POWER WINDOW FELL COMPLETELY DOWN INTO THE DOOR WHILE I WAS PARKED IN MY DRIVE WAY AND MY GRANDSON WHO HAD HIS HANDS ON THE WINDOW WAS PULL OUTSIDE AND ALMOST FELL ON HIS HEAD. LUCKILY I WAS ABLE TO GRAB HIS FEET AND STOP HIM FROM HITTING HIS HEAD ON THE DRIVE WAY. I HAD THE WINDOW FIXED BUT THE MECHANIC WHOM FIXED IT TOLD ME THERE WAS A DESIGN FLAW IN THESE POWER WINDOWS AND THAT IT COULD DO IT AGAIN. SURE ENOUGH ABOUT 3 MONTHS LATER THIS TIME MY DRIVERS SIDE WINDOW FELL. I EMAILED FORD AND THEY SAID THEY COULDN'T HELP ME. I POSTED A COMPLAINT ON CARCOMPLAINT.COM ALONG WITH THE OTHER 114 COMPLAINTS FOR THIS REPONSE. THIS NEEDS TO COME A RECALL BEFORE SOMEONE GETS INJURED. *TR
MY OVERDRIVE GEAR GOT WIPED OUT. WHILE DRIVING THE TRUCK I GOT UP TO 30 MPH AND THE ENGINE STARTED TO REV UP REAL BAD AND WOULD NOT MOVE. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 FORD F-150. WHILE DRIVING LESS THAN 55 MPH, THE CONTACT HEARD A LOUD POPPING SOUND FROM THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. SHE THOUGHT SOMETHING STRUCK THE WINDOW, BUT MINUTES LATER, THE ENTIRE REAR PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW COLLAPSED INTO THE WINDOW ASSEMBLY UNIT AND THE DOOR. THE DEALER REPLACED THE WINDOW REGULATOR. PREVIOUSLY, THE SAME FAILURE OCCURRED WITH THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE WINDOW. THE WINDOW REGULATOR WAS REPLACED AT THAT TIME AS WELL. BOTH REPAIRS COST $450 EACH. THERE WERE NO RECALLS FOR THE FAILURE. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE LESS THAN 64,500. UPDATED 12/8/09 *CN UPDATED 12/09/09.*JB
ON A SUNDAY, I WAS ON A SIDE STREET WHEN THE ENGINE WENT DEAD. I NOTICED THE WRENCH LIGHT WAS ON. I CALLED THE WRECKER SERVICE AS IT WAS STILL IN WARRANTY. THE WRECKER DRIVER ARRIVED AND ASKED IF I HAD TRIED TO RESTART IT, WHICH I DIDN'T. I STARTED IT AND DROVE HOME. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER ON 06/04/08. THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE ERROR NOR FIND ANYTHING IN THE COMPUTER MODULE. ON 03/29/09, THE SAME THING HAPPENED. IF I HAD BEEN ON A HIGHWAY OR FREEWAY, I MIGHT HAVE HAD A SERIOUS ACCIDENT. I WAITED A FEW MINUTES, THEN THE TRUCK STARTED UP AGAIN. I TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALER ON 04/01/09. THEY KEPT IT OVERNIGHT DOING VARIOUS TESTS. THE COMPUTER SHOWED NOTHING. THEY FINALLY SUGGESTED TO REPLACE THE THROTTLE BODY AND REPROGRAM THE PCM. I AGREED EVEN THOUGH IT WAS OUT OF WARRANTY AND COST ME $484 TO REPAIR. I WAS LEERY OF DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY AND FREEWAY AS IF IT HAPPENS THERE, I'M SURE IF I CAN'T PULL OVER I WILL SURELY CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. SUBSEQUENT CHECKS ON THE INTERNET FOUND THE IS A COMMON OCCURRENCE. THE ENGINE IS SUPPOSED TO GO INTO "LIMP MODE" TO ALLOW ONE TO SLOWLY, BUT SAFELY DRIVE TO A SAFE SPOT. MY TRUCK, AND MANY OTHERS, DO NOT GO INTO "LIMP MODE"; THEY JUST GO DEAD. I STRONGLY SUGGEST THIS BE INVESTIGATED BEFORE A SERIOUS ACCIDENT OCCURS DUE TO THIS DEFAULT. *TR
THE VEHICLE WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON AND THE ENGINE QUIT. HAD I BEEN ON A FREEWAY, A SERIOUS ACCIDENT MIGHT HAVE OCCURRED. I CALLED THE WARRANTY SERVICE FOR A WRECKER AS IT WAS STILL IN WARRANTY. ABOUT 40 MINUTES LATER, THE WRECKER ARRIVED AND THE DRIVER ASKED ME IF I HAD TRIED TO RESTART THE ENGINE. I HADN'T, TRIED, AND IT STARTED. I RESEARCHED THE INTERNET AND FOUND SOME INFORMATION INCLUDING A SUGGESTION TO DISCONNECT THE BATTERY TO RESET THE COMPUTER. UNFORTUNATELY, I DID THAT AND WHEN I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER THE FOLLOWING TUESDAY THEY COULDN'T TELL WHAT CAUSED THE PROBLEM. IT HAPPENED AGAIN ON MARCH 25, 2009. AGAIN, I WAS GLAD I WAS ON A SIDE STREET. I WILL TAKE THE TRUCK TO THE DEALER TUESDAY EVEN THOUGH THE WARRANTY HAS EXPIRED AS THIS COULD BE A VERY SERIOUS PROBLEM ON A HIGHWAY. *TR
POWER WINDOW REGULATOR/CABLE MALFUNCTIONS/BREAKS AND WINDOW DROPS DOWN. *TR
ON 5/21/08 SPARK PLUG # 3 POPPED OUT WHILE I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE FREEWAY I HAD IT REPAIRED. THEN ON 1/8/13 SPARK PLUG #3 CAME OUT OF MY 2004 FORD F150 AND I TOOK MY TRUCK TO FORD . WHEN THEY WERE REPLACING THE THREADS ON #3, #5 POPPED OUT SO THEY REPLACED THE HELIX COILS ON IT AS WELL. IN APRIL MY TRUCK START HAVING THE SAME ISSUE WITH THE # 1 SPARK PLUS. THIS DOES NOT SEEM LIKE SOMETHING THAT SHOULD JUST HAPPEN. THERE SHOULD HAVE BEEN A RECALL ON THIS A LONG TIME AGO.
I HAVE THREE FORD AND HADN'T BEEN NOTICE ABOUT ANY RECALL ON MY FORD F150 2004 AND 2007. *TR
WHILE DRIVING IN 100 DEGREE WEATHER, LOUD POP WAS HEARD AS IF SOMETHING HAD BEEN SHOT AT THE TRUCK. WIFE SWERVED AND WHEN SHE PULLED OVER FOUND NOTHING WRONG WITH EXTERIOR OF TRUCK. WHEN SHE TRIED TO ROLL DOWN THE DRIVER SIDE WINDOW THE WINDOW JUST FELL INSIDE THE DOOR AND WOULD NOT ROLL UP. FORCED TO DRIVE AROUND IN 100+ DEGREE WEATHER. PLASTIC PART ON WINDOW REGULATOR SNAPPED AND BECAUSE WE COMPLAINED ABOUT PASSENGER SIDE MAKING NOISE BOTH WERE REPLACED. I WAS DRIVING AND WENT TO ROLL DOWN MY DRIVER SIDE WINDOW ON THE WAY HOME FROM WORK AND THE WHOLE WINDOW JUST DROPPED INTO MY DOOR NEVER TO BE SEEN AGAIN. TO MY LUCK, IT BEGAN TO RAIN.....BADLY. AS IF GETTING WET WASN'T ENOUGH, EVERY TIME A VEHICLE WOULD PASS ME GOING THE OTHER DIRECTION AT AN INTERSECTION I WOULD GET SPLASHED WITH NASTY ROAD WATER IN MY FACE!!! IT SPRAYED ME SO BAD ONCE WHEN A VEHICLE PASSED ME THAT I HIT THE CURB AND COULD HAVE EASILY HAD A HORRIBLE ACCIDENT OR WORSE, KILLED SOMEONE ON A CURB!!! THIS COST ME OVER $300 TO HAVE THE WHOLE MOTOR ASSEMBLY REPLACED IN THE DOOR AND SOUNDS LIKE IT IS ALL TOO COMMON DUE TO A POORLY DESIGNED PLASTIC TAB THAT BREAKS. WHAT WILL IT TAKE FOR A RECALL ON THIS? SOME POOR PERSONS' CHILD GETTING HIT AT A BUS STOP DURING A RAIN STORM? CAN'T WAIT FOR IT TO HAPPEN AGAIN. *TR
REPEATED FAILURE OF WINDOW REGULATOR IN LATE MODEL F-150 (2004). I HAVE HEARD MANY OTHER WITH SAME PROBLEM. MY WINDOW FELL DOWN INSIDE THE DOOR WHILE DRIVING, WHICH STARTLED ME ALMOST CAUSING A SERIOUS ACCIDENT. *TR
WE TOOK OUR VEHICLE IN FOR SERVICE IMMEDIATELY AFTER WE EXPERIENCE THE ENGINE MISSING. THE SERVICE CENTER DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM WOULD BE CORRECTED BY REPLACING THE IGNITION COIL, PLUGS AND WIRE BOOTS. THIS SEEMINGLY SIMPLE SERVICE JOB HAS LITERALLY TURNED INTO A NIGHTMARE. AFTER ALMOST 4 WEEKS OUR VEHICLE IS STILL IN THE SHOP. IN THE PROCESS OF CHANGING THE PLUGS, 2 PLUGS BROKE. THE DEALERSHIP NEEDED A "SPECIAL" TOOL TO REMOVE THE BROKEN PLUGS AND HAD TO ORDER IT. WHEN THEY GOT THE TOOL, THE STILL COULDN'T REMOVE THE PLUGS AND SAID THEY WOULD DRILL THEM OUT. AND THEN - THE BIGGEST BLUNDER OF ALL HAPPENED - WHILE THEY WERE DRILLING SOME PIECES OF PORCELAIN FELL INTO THE ENGINE AND SCARRED THE CYLINDER(S)WHICH COULD POTENTIALLY CAUSE THE ENTIRE ENGINE TO FAIL. NOW WE'RE BEING TOLD BECAUSE OF THIS WE NEED TO REPLACE THE ENGINE!! EACH TIME THEY CALLED IT WAS ABOUT SOMETHING ELSE GOING WRONG AND MORE MONEY!! WE'RE LOYAL FORD CUSTOMERS! A RUST AND PANEL PERFORATION ON THE RIGHT BOX OUTER OF 2004 FORD F-150'S. RUST DEVELOPS UNDER THE PAINT ON THE RIGHT BOX OUTER PANEL BEHIND THE RIGHT REAR WHEEL OPENING AND ABOUT AT THE CENTER FOR HEIGHT OF THE PANEL. THIS HAS HAPPENED ON SEVERAL TRUCKS OF FRIENDS AS WELL AS MY TRUCK. THE DEALERS ARE SAYING IT IS BECAUSE THERE IS A BRACE WELDED TO THE PANEL DURING PRODUCTION AND THE WELD ID THE ROOT OF THE RUST. FORD IS SAYING THAT THEY HAVE NO RESPONSIBILITY AND WON'T HELP TO COVER THE COST OF REPAIR. AS A RETIRED ENGINEER FROM ANOTHER MANUFACTURER AND ALSO HAVING WORKED FOR THE OTHER OF THE BIG THREE, I KNOW THAT WELDING DESTROYS THE RUST PREVENTABLE ON THE SHEET METAL. THE WELD PROCESS FLOWS GALVANIZE AWAY FROM THE WELD AREA AND THEN HELPS TO PRECIPITATE THE RUST TO FORM. THE TRUCKS HAVE ALL HAD NO PAINT DAMAGE OR ACCIDENTS IN THE AREA OF THE RUST FORMING. BUBBLES APPEAR UNDER WHAT LOOKS LIKE GOOD SOLID PAINT AND THEN BREAKS THROUGH AND SHOWS RUSTED METAL. WITH THE NUMBER OF TRUCKS HAVING THE SAME ISSUE IT LOOKS TO BE A SYSTEMIC ISSUE FROM THE MANUFACTURING PROCESS. THE OTHER TWO DOMESTIC MANUFACTURERS WILL NOT WELD ON WHAT IS KNOWN AS A CLASS A OUTER PANEL SURFACE. A CUSTOMER?S LINE OF SIGHT WALKING UP TO A VEHICLE IS CONSIDERED TO BE CLASS A SURFACE. THERE SHOULD NOT ANY BE WELDS ON IT AND LITTLE OR NO METAL FINISH. THAT, METAL FINISHING, ALSO WOULD REMOVE THE RUST PROTECTING GALVANIZE. ANOTHER CONCERN IS THAT SOME STATES HAVE ANNUAL INSPECTIONS THAT WOULD CAUSE THIS TO HAVE TO BE REPAIRED. THE OWNER WOULD BE STUCK WITH THIS COST THROUGH NO FAULT OF HIS OR HER OWN. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 FORD F150. WHEN THE CONTACT STARTED THE VEHICLE, THE OVERDRIVE AND TRANSMISSION WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. THE DEALER PERFORMED A DIAGNOSTIC AND THEY STATED THAT THE CONTROL MODULE FAILED. THEY FURTHER STATED THAT THEY WOULD NOT INSTALL A NEW MODULE BECAUSE THE NEW MODULAR WOULD BE RUINED DUE TO A QUARTER INCH SHAVING ON THE MAGNET. I OWN A 2004 F-150. WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL IS DEPRESSED IT TRAVELS NEARLY TO THE FLOOR ON THE FIRST "PUMP." THE PROBLEM IS REMEDIED BY PUMPING THE BRAKE ONCE OR TWICE TO REGAIN A SOLID PEDAL FEEL. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 FORD F150. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE IN FOR A ROUTINE TUNE-UP IN 2007. A FEW MONTHS LATER, HE HAD TO REPLACE THE MOTOR. ON MARCH 9, 2008, THE VEHICLE STALLED AND THE CHECK ENGINE INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. HE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A REPAIR SHOP AND THE DIAGNOSTIC INDICATED THAT THE TIMING CHAIN SLIPPED AND CAUSED THE METAL CLIPS TO FAIL. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT BECAUSE A FORD DEALER DID NOT REPLACE THE MOTOR, THEY WOULD NOT ASSIST WITH THE REPAIRS. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED AT THE COST OF $1,893 AT AN INDEPENDENT REPAIR SHOP.
