I BOUGHT THE FORD TRUCK F 150 5.4 MOTOR 2004 NEW. I WENT INTO THE FORD HOUSE TO GET PLUGS AND WIRES CHANGED. ABOUT TWO HOURS LATER THEY COME OUT HOLDING A SPARKPLUG, SAYING THEY NEED TO KEEP MY TRUCK FOR A COUPLE DAYS BECAUSE THESE SIZE OF MOTORS BLOW OUT SPARK PLUGS AND PART OF YOUR PLUG HAS FALLEN INTO THE MOTOR. THEY SAID THIS HAPPEN ALL THE TIME, BUT IT HAS NOT BEEN RECALLED YET. I SENT FORD A LETTER ALSO, I JUST DON T KNOW WHERE TO GO FROM HERE. THANKS FOR YOUR HELP! *TR
WINDOW REGULATOR ON VEHICLE FAIL, WINDOWS FALL DOWN WITHOUT WARNING CAUSING NOISE AND SAFETY CONCERN. THIS IS MY SECOND REPLACEMENT ON TWO SEPERATE WINDOWS. SEEMS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM. *TR
I HAVE A 2004 FORD F-150 WITH 36,500 MILES. I HAVE ALREADY REPAIRED BOTH FRONT POWER WINDOWS AND TWO DAYS AGO THE PASSENGER REAR POWER WINDOW GAVE OUT. IS THERE A RECALL ON THE POWER WINDOWS IT SEEMS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM IN THESE TRUCKS? MY WINDOW IS BEING HELD UP WITH TAPE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE EXHIBITED A LOUD BANGING NOISE. THE CONTACT THEN NOTICED THAT THE DRIVER AND THE PASSENGER REAR WINDOWS WERE OPENED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE THEY ADVISED HER THAT SHE NEEDED TO REPLACE THE WINDOW REGULATORS. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED FOR THE THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER REAR REGULATORS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 70,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
2004 FORD F150 POWER WINDOW ACTUATOR FAILED FOR THE 4TH TIME. FORD HAS INDICATED THIS TO BE A PROBLEM BUT HAS YET TO FIX/RECALL. THREE SEPARATE WINDOWS HAVE FAILED AND NOW ONE HAS FAILED TWICE. THE PART IS APPROX. $140.00 TO REPLACE WITHOUT LABOR. MY F150 HAS 75,000 MILES ON IT AND THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED WAS AT 45N000 MILES. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 FORD F-150. WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED, THE CRUISE CONTROL ACTIVATED ON ITS OWN. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT THE SET SPRING OF THE VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE REPAIR, THE FAILURE RESURFACED. SHE TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT SHE WOULD HAVE TO REPLACE THE PART AGAIN AT HER EXPENSE. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED AGAIN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 43,000. UPDATED 3/16/09 *CN THE CONSUMER STATED THE CRUISE CONTROL ACTIVATED AT LOW SPEEDS AND HIGHWAY SPEEDS AND THE VEHICLE WOULD ACCELERATE. I HAVE A HIGH WHINING NOISE IN THE REAR END OF MY 2004 FORD F150. INDEPENDENT REPAIR PLACE RECOMMENDS TOTAL REAR END REPLACEMENT AND SO DOES DEALER. THERE IS A TECHNICAL NOTICE FORD PUT OUT IN 2005 05-23-03 THAT COVERED 1997 TO 2005 F150'S WITH THIS PROBLEM. IF NOT FIXED IT MAY CAUSE THE REAR END TO LOCK UP. CONTACTED FORD AND THEY SAID THEY WOULD NOT COVER. I HAVE 55400 MILES ON THE TRUCK. IF THEY KNEW ABOUT IT IN 2005, WHY NOT CONTACT PEOPLE TO GET IT IN FOR REPAIR AT THEIR COST. I FEEL THIS IS A VERY UNSAFE CONDITION THAT COULD CASE A SERIOUS ACCIDENT IF NOT FIXED. *TR
WE OWN A 2004 FORD F-150 AND WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND HIT A SMALL BUMP AND THE PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW JUST FELL DOWN. I HAD TO TAKE TO A BODY SHOP MAN TO FIX THE WINDOW. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 FORD F150. WHILE DRIVING AT LOW SPEEDS, THE CRUISE CONTROL LIGHT WOULD ILLUMINATE ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL AND THEN THE VEHICLE WOULD ACCELERATE. WHILE DRIVING AT HIGH SPEEDS, THE CRUISE CONTROL LIGHT WOULD ALSO ILLUMINATE, BUT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. THE CONTACT HAD TO DEPRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL OR PUSH THE BUTTON TO DISENGAGE THE CRUISE CONTROL; HOWEVER, THE LIGHT WOULD SOMETIMES ILLUMINATE AGAIN. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 41,869 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 41,700. UPDATED 12/02/08. *LJ THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE WOULD IMMEDIATELY ACCELERATE. UPDATED 12/03/08. *JB
AFTER ROLLING DOWN WINDOW TO GAIN ACCESS INTO WORK PARKING LOT IN THE MORNING, THE WINDOW REGULATOR CLIP BROKE RESULTING IN THE WINDOW BEING STUCK IN THE DOWN POSITION. TRUCK WAS THEN LEFT UNATTENDED WITH PERSONAL POSSESSIONS AND WINDOW WIDE OPEN AND VULNERABLE TO THEFT WHILE I WAS AT WORK ALL DAY. SEVERAL DEALERS WERE CONTACTED AND THEN I FINALLY FOUND SOMEONE WHO COULD FIX MY PROBLEM THE FOLLOWING DAY FOR $340. TRUCK WAS THEN DRIVEN DIRECTLY HOME AND THE WINDOW WAS COVERED WITH PLASTIC TO PREVENT WEATHER FROM ENTERING VEHICLE OVERNIGHT. WINDOW REGULATOR WAS THEN REPLACED WITH IDENTICAL WINDOW REGULATOR. THIS DOES NOT APPEAR TO BE AN ISOLATED PROBLEM ON 2004 FORD F150 WINDOW REGULATORS, AND I AM GLAD MY CASE WAS NOT AS SEVERE AS OTHERS (I.E. WINDOWS FALLING INTO DOOR PANELS). HOWEVER, I DO THINK THIS IS A MATERIAL/ DESIGN DEFECT THAT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED WITH FORD MOTOR VEHICLES. FORD TRUCK OWNERS SHOULD NOT HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT THEIR WINDOWS FAILING EACH TIME THEY USE THEIR TRUCK BECAUSE A CHEAP PIECE OF PLASTIC IS BEING USED TO SAVE ON COST. THIS IS A SIMPLE ISSUE THAT COULD BE RESOLVED BY USING A METAL CLIP. *TR

HUSBAND FOUND DRIVER REAR WINDOW DOWN AFTER WORK. THOUGHT SOMEBODY HAD BROKEN IN. THEN 3 WEEKS LATER WAS DRIVING AND ROLLING UP WINDOW WITH 2 CHILDREN IN BACK SEAT AND HEARD A LOUD SNAP AND PASSENGER WINDOW SLAMMED DOWN AND WOULDN'T GO BACK UP. WE HAVE SPENT ALMOST $600 ON REGULATORS! AFTER READING ALL OF THESE SAME COMPLAINTS FORD SHOULD RECALL THIS PROBLEM. I AM AFRAID COULD HAPPEN TO REMAINING WINDOWS IN INCLEMENT WEATHER WITH CHILDREN IN VEHICLE!!!! *TR
FORD F150 2004 DRIVER'S SIDE WINDOW DROPPED SUDDENLY WHILE DRIVING WITH A LOUD NOISE. I REMOVED THE WINDOW REGULATOR ASSEMBLY AND THE PROBLEM IS THE PLASTIC CLIPS THAT HOLD THE CONTROL CABLES IN PLACE. THEY APPEAR TO BE CHEAP AND FRAGILE AND BREAK EASILY LETTING THE CABLES COME OUT OF THEIR GUIDES AND THEREFORE DROPPING THE WINDOW UNEXPECTEDLY. LUCKILY I WAS DRIVING SLOWLY IN A PARKING LOT BUT IF IT WOULD HAVE HAPPENED IN A HIGHWAY FOR EXAMPLE IT COULD HAVE LED TO AN ACCIDENT BECAUSE THERE IS A LOUD NOISE AND THEN THE WINDOW JUST DROPS INTO THE DOOR. *TR
WHILE ROLLING DOWN MY REAR DRIVER'S SIDE WINDOW, I HEARD A POPPING NOISE AND THE WINDOW FELL INTO THE DOOR. I HAD IT REPAIRED (NEW REGULATOR) AT A COST OF $390. TWO WEEKS LATER, THE EXACT ISSUE OCCURRED WITH MY FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE WINDOW. I HAVE INVESTIGATED A BIT ON THE INTERNET AND DISCOVERED HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS DESCRIBING THESE EXACT SYMPTOMS. THIS IS A SECURITY PROBLEM AND A SAFETY ISSUE FOR INDIVIDUALS WHO MAY BE DRIVING IN POOR WEATHER. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT ALL FOUR WINDOW REGULATORS STOPPED WORKING ON HIS VEHICLE. WITHIN TWO WEEKS OF EACH OTHER, THE REGULATORS COMPLETELY FAILED. WHEN THE LAST REGULATOR FAILED, THE DRIVER'S SIDE WINDOW SHATTERED INWARD WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH. PRIOR TO THE FAILURE, THE CONTACT HEARD A LOUD POPPING SOUND. HE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AFTER THE FIRST FAILURE AND WAS PROVIDED THE NECESSARY PART TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE HIMSELF. HE FILED A COMPLAINT WITH THE MANUFACTURER. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 60,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 50,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 FORD F-150. THE VEHICLE ACCELERATES ON ITS OWN WHILE DRIVING. IN ADDITION, THE VEHICLE ACCELERATES ON ITS OWN WHEN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL IS NOT DEPRESSED AND WHEN STOPPED AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT OR STOP SIGN. THE FAILURE HAS BEEN OCCURRING EVER SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED, BUT IT WAS MORE OF A SAFETY HAZARD WHEN THE CONTACT ALLOWED SOMEONE ELSE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE THROTTLE SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE SPEED WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 48,000.
TRANSMISSION OVERDRIVE FAILURE RESULTING IN A TOTAL REBUILD CAUSED BY AN $18.40 SNAP RING BREAKING ON THE OVERDRIVE SERVO. *TR
MY 2004 FORD F150 SUPERCREW HAS HAD A WINDOW FALL DOWN 3 DIFFERENT TIMES SO FAR. ALL THREE TIMES WERE DIFFERENT WINDOWS, BUT THE SAME PROBLEM. THE WINDOW REGULATOR IS CABLE DRIVEN AND THE CABLE GETS STUCK OR COMES OFF OF THE PULLEY, THEN THE WINDOW FALLS INSIDE THE DOOR. *TR
WHILE PUTTING UP THE DRIVER'S SIDE ELECTRIC WINDOW IN MY FORD 2004 1/2 (NEW STYLE) F-150 SUPERCREW I HEARD A LOUD BANG AND THE WINDOW DISAPPEARED. THE BANG WAS SO LOUD THAT I THOUGHT SOMEONE HAD SHOT OUT MY WINDOW WHILE I WAS DRIVING. IF I HAD BEEN IN BUSY TRAFFIC THIS COULD HAVE CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. FORTUNATELY I WAS ON A 25 MPH ROAD AT THE TIME AND NO ONE WAS HURT NOR WAS THERE AN ACCIDENT. THE PROBLEM WAS WITH THE WINDOW REGULATOR CABLING. THE CABLING SEPARATED FROM THE WINDOW WHICH RESULTED IN THE LOUD BANG I HEARD FROM MY DRIVERS SIDE WINDOW. FROM MY RESEARCH THIS IS AN ONGOING PROBLEM. THIS PROBLEM HAS THE POTENTIAL FOR SOME VERY SERIOUS CONSEQUENCES IF THE DRIVER WERE TO OVERREACT TO THE LOUD "GUN SHOT" SOUND WHEN THE FAILURE OCCURS. *TR
I WAS DRIVING TO THE AIRPORT THIS MORNING TO PICK UP A WORK COLLEAGUE FOR AN IMPORTANT MEETING. AS I WAS DRIVING I HEARD A LOUD POP THAT SOUNDED LIKE SOMETHING HITTING THE DOOR. I SWERVED AND NEARLY HIT THE CAR NEXT TO ME. STARTLED, I PULLED OVER AT THE NEXT EXIT TO SEE IF MAYBE SOMEONE HAD THROWN SOMETHING AT MY TRUCK. THERE WASN'T A SCRATCH OR DENT ANYWHERE. I GOT BACK IN STARTED DOWN THE ROAD WHEN THE WINDOW SUDDENLY DROPPED OUT OF SIGHT SO I PULLED OVER AGAIN AND THE FOUND THAT IT WOULD NOT GO BACK UP. THERE WAS SEEMINGLY NOTHING TO DO AT THAT POINT BUT TAKE MY SUIT JACKET OFF AND HOPE TO NOT SWEAT THROUGH MY SHIRT BEFORE OUT MEETING. I PICKED UP MY COLLEAGUE, LATE, THEN WERE LATE EVERY SUBSEQUENT MEETING THE REST OF THE DAY. AS SOON AS I COULD, I TOOK WENT TO MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP WHO ALREADY SEEMS TO KNOW WHAT'S WRONG BEFORE I CAN FINISH TELLING HIM WHAT'S WRONG. HE TELLS ME IT'S GOING TO PROBABLY BE IN THE RANGE OF $375 TO FIX. AFTER RENTING A CAR TO GET BACK TO MY OFFICE, I CHECKED ONLINE TO SEE IF THIS MIGHT BE A COMMON OCCURRENCE ONLY TO FIND HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT MULTIPLE WINDOWS ON THE SAME VEHICLES NEEDING TO BE REPLACED. SO, AFTER NEARLY WRECKING MY TRUCK, RUNNING LATE, APPEARING DISHEVELED AT MY OWN CUSTOMER MEETINGS, AND DRIVING AROUND IN 100 DEGREE WEATHER IN A SUIT AND TIE, ALL BECAUSE OF A PROBLEMS THAT MY (PREVIOUS) FAVORITE AUTOMAKER IS FULLY AWARE OF, I'M SO MAD AND FRUSTRATED THAT I CAN HARDLY SEE STRAIGHT! ON TOP OF THAT, IT SOUNDS LIKE CAN PROBABLY LOOK FORWARD TO THE SAME THING HAPPENING 3 MORE TIMES (AT LEAST). THE ONLY THING I CAN THINK TO DO IS TO SEND COMPLAINTS WHEREVER I CAN FIND AND KEEP COPIES OF THOSE COMPLAINTS SO THAT WHEN THE NEXT WINDOW "POPS" AND STARTLES ME INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC, I'LL AT LEAST HAVE PROOF I DID MAKE EVERYONE AWARE OF MY OWN PERSONAL EXPERIENCE. THIS IS SUCH A POTENTIAL DANGER AND EXPENSIVE INCONVENIENCE TO THE CUSTOMER THAT I REQUEST A RECALL FROM FORD TO REPLACE ALL WINDOW MOTOR/GEARS BEFORE. *TR
REGULATOR ON TWO WINDOWS OF MY FORD F-150 PICK UP FAILED. I GOT THE ONE FIXED AND ABOUT TWO0 MINUTES AFTER I LEFT THE FORD DEALERSHIP, THE OTHER ONE FAILED. *TR

THERE WAS NO WARNING FOR THE EVENTUAL FAILURE OF MY WINDOW REGULATOR ON MY 2004 FORD F150. ONE DAY I WENT TO ROLL THE WINDOW DOWN AND THE WHOLE THING FELL DOWN INSIDE OF THE DOOR. AFTER I WAS ABLE TO GET IT BACK UP, I HAD TO WEDGE MATERIALS BETWEEN THE WINDOW AND DOOR TO HOLD IT UP. I HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO USE THIS WINDOW FOR DRIVE-THRU AND SOMETIMES WHEN IT RAINS, MY DRIVERS SEAT GETS WET BECAUSE THE WINDOW FALLS DOWN HALFWAY. I HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO HAVE THIS PROBLEM FIXED DUE TO THE COST OF PARTS AND LABOR, THEREFORE I HAVE GONE MONTHS TRYING TO JUST DEAL WITH THE SITUATION, UNTIL I COULD PAY THE $400.00 THAT IT COSTS TO FIX THIS PROBLEM. HOWEVER, UPON DOING RESEARCH ONLINE, I SEE THAT I AM NOT ALONE AND THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH FORD TRUCKS, THEREFORE, IF I DON'T HAVE TO AND I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR THE REPAIR, I'D RATHER NOT BE! I HAVE ALSO BEEN AFRAID THAT SOMEONE WILL BE ABLE TO GET INSIDE MY VEHICLE BECAUSE IF THEY REALLY WANTED TO, ALL THEY WOULD HAVE TO DO IS ROLL THE WINDOW DOWN MANUALLY-VERY EASY TO DO WITH IT BEING BROKEN. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE PAINT ON THE HOOD AND THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE WAS ABNORMALLY CHIPPING. HE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT THE FAILURE RESULTED FROM WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS MANUFACTURED. THE COATING OF THE PAINT WAS 10-12 MM. AS A RESULT, THE THICK COATING INEVITABLY LED TO THE PAINT CHIPPING. THE CONTACT IS IN THE PROCESS OF NOTIFYING THE MANUFACTURER. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 86,000.
WINDOWS KEEP FALLING OUT, THIS THE THIRD WINDOW THAT HAS FALLEN (DEFECTIVE REGULATORS). *TR
AS I WAS DRIVING THROUGH MY NEIGHBORHOOD THE PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW SUDDENLY FELL INTO THE DOOR WITH A LOUD THUMP. AFTERWARDS, THE WINDOW FAILED TO OPERATE. 2 DAYS LATER AS I WAS DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE THE DRIVER SIDE WINDOW SUDDENLY FELL INTO THE DOOR WITH A LOUD THUMP AND AFTERWARDS FAILED TO OPERATE. THIS IS A FAILURE OF 2 WINDOWS WITHIN 2 DAYS IN A CATASTROPHIC FAILURE MODE. I WAS NOT HARMED IN THIS SPECIFIC INCIDENCE BUT THIS OCCURRENCE COULD BE DANGEROUS IN POOR WEATHER. I DO NOT BELIEVE THE MANUFACTURER WILL REPAIR THE FAILURE EVEN THOUGH THIS IS A COMMON COMPLAINT AS EVIDENCED BY A QUICK INTERNET SEARCH. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 FORD F150. THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED WHEN THE CONTACT OBSERVED THAT THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE WINDOW FELL INSIDE THE DOOR WITHOUT ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR INSPECTION. THE FAILURE WAS CONTRIBUTED TO THE WINDOW REGULATOR WHICH WAS REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER ON A SEPARATE OCCASION FOR THE IDENTICAL FAILURE WITH THE FRONT AND REAR PASSENGER WINDOW REGULATORS WHICH WERE ALSO REPLACED. RECENTLY, THERE WAS ANOTHER FAILURE OCCURRENCE WITH THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW REGULATOR. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE CONTACT HAS CONCERNS OF THE SAFETY RISK INVOLVED. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 71,0000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 84,000. UPDATED 11/06/09 *BF UPDATED 11/09/09*JB
ROLLING DOWN DRIVERS WINDOWS AND HEARD LOUD BANG THEN GRINDING AND WINDOW SLOWLY SANK DOWN AND WILL NOT GO BACK UP. I REMOVED DOOR PANEL AND FOUND TWISTED WIRES AND BROKEN PLASTIC FROM THE WINDOWS REGULATOR. ONLY 24000 MILES. QUALITY IS CRAP...SHOULD BE RECALLED BEFORE ALL MY OTHER ONES DO THE SAME THING AND I HAVE TO PAY FOR FORD'S INCOMPETENCE. *TR
I HEARD A LOUD POP WHILE WAITING FOR MY WIFE DURING HER ANNUAL SCHOOL MEET THE PARENTS. THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN MY WINDOW FELL INSIDE THE DOOR. 2004 FORD F150 WITH NUMEROUS PROBLEMS. NOW AT 82000 MILES THE TRANSMISSION IS SLIPPING BADLY. THE TRANSMISSION SLIPS WHEN ACCELERATING AND THE ENGINE REVS UNTIL THE TRANSMISSION KICKS IN. WE REPLACED A 98 MAZDA TRUCK WITH THIS 04 F150 BECAUSE WE THOUGHT THE F150 WOULD BE SAFE AND RELIABLE. THE 98 MAZDA, SOLD TO MY BROTHER-IN-LAW, IS STILL RUNNING GREAT. WHAT A MISTAKE!!!! *TR

I SEE HUNDREDS AND HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE ON THE INTERNET THAT ARE TRYING TO FIND A RECALL AND THERE IS NO RECALL. THE PART BY ITSELF IS 200 OR MORE DOLLARS THAT'S IF U FIX IT YOURSELF. THE DEALERSHIP CHARGES $365 TO FIX THE WINDOW OR YOU CAN PURCHASE THE PART FOR $150 AND DO IT YOURSELF IF YOU ARE SO INCLINED.
