I OWN A 2004 FORD F-150 FOUR DOOR EXTENDED CAB PICK UP. I HAVE USED IT AS A RECREATIONAL VEHICLE AND IT ONLY HAS 58,914 MILES AND THE TRANSMISSION HAS BROKEN. I TOOK THE TRUCK TO THE SHOP AND THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THERE WAS NO REASON THE TRUCKS TRANSMISSION SHOULD HAVE THIS ISSUE. HE STATED THAT UNFORTUNATELY IT HAS BEEN HIS EXPERIENCE THAT THIS PARTICULAR YEAR FORD F150 HAS A HISTORY OF POOR TRANSMISSION PERFORMANCE DUE TO ITS VERY THIN TRANSMISSION GEARS. HE STATED THE TRUCK WAS IN VERY GOOD CONDITION, I HAD PROOF OF MY MAINTENANCE SCHEDULE. *TR
MY WIFE WAS GIVING AND HEARD A LOAD NOISE LIKE SHE JUST GOT HIT OR HIT SOMETHING. SHE PULLED OVER AND NOTICE THE WINDOW ON THE DRIVERS SIDE OF OUR F150 SUPERCREW HAD FALLEN INTO THE DOOR. NOTHING YET TO FIX IT THE PART IS 200.00 DOLLARS ALONE WITHOUT THE COST OF LABOR. AND NO OLD OR USED PARTS ARE AVAILABLE. *TR
2 WINDOW REGULATORS HAVE BROKEN CAUSING THE WINDOW TO DROP INTO THE DOOR AND NOT ROLL UP IN MY 2004 FORD F150 PICKUP TRUCK. FIRST TIME HAPPENED IN JULY 2008 (DRIVER'S SIDE), AND THE SECOND TIME (FRONT PASSENGER SIDE) JUST HAPPENED ON JANUARY 3, 2009. BOTH TIMES WHILE DRIVING ON INTERSTATE HWY WHILE THE WINDOWS WERE IN THE FULL UP (CLOSED) POSITION. BOTH TIMES I HEARD A LOUD BOOM OR POP AND THEN THE WINDOW PROCEEDED TO SLIDE DOWN INTO THE DOOR. A MECHANIC AT THE DEALER HAS UNOFFICIALLY ADMITTED TO ME THAT THIS IS EXTREMELY COMMON WITH MY MAKE/MODEL AND YEAR AND THAT IT WAS HIS OPINION THIS WAS A DEFECT. I WAS ABLE TO HAVE A FRIEND REPAIR THE DRIVER'S WINDOW IN JULY, BUT HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO FINANCIALLY AFFORD TO REPAIR THE PASSENGER SIDE YET. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS A RECURRING FAILURE OF THE HUB AND CALIPERS AS WELL AS THE FRONT AND REAR AXLE SPORADICALLY BECOMING FRACTURED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 46,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 79,000. *TR
2004 FORD F150 DRIVER'S SIDE POWER WINDOW REGULATOR MALFUNCTIONED. *TR
I HAVE AN 2004 FORD F150 AND OVER THE APPROXIMATELY PAST 21 MONTHS I HAVE HAD FIRSTLY THE DRIVERS WINDOW CAME DOWN ON ITS OWN, (I HAVE A CREW CAB WITH 4 DOORS) THEN THE RIGHT REAR PASSENGER WINDOW ABOUT 10 MONTHS AGO AND THIS WEEK THE LEFT REAR CAME DOWN ON IT'S OWN, (HAVEN'T GOT THIS ONE FIXED YET) DOING SO THIS OR NEXT WEEK. THE REPAIR COST ME $330 APPROXIMATELY $90 LABOR AND $200 PLUS FOR THE PART, I GET NO EXPLANATION AS TO WHY OR RELIEF OVER THE COST FROM THE DEALER, I HAVE NOT CONTACTED FORD DIRECTLY YET. IT IS TRULY A SAFETY ISSUE NO MATTER HOW YOU LOOK AT. EACH TIME, THE WINDOW WAS UP, I HEARD A CLICK AND DOWN IT CAME... I WAS NOT LOWERING THE WINDOWS. I HAVEN'T LOWERED ANY EXCEPT THE REPAIRED DRIVERS DOOR WINDOW SINCE ABOUT 10 MONTHS AGO WHEN THE RIGHT REAR CAME DOWN.. I ONLY OPEN THE LEFT FRONT (DRIVERS) AND THIS INCLUDES THE MOON ROOF, I DON'T OPEN THAT EITHER FOR FEAR IT WILL BREAK. THE IRONIC THING IS ALL 3 CAME DOWN WITHOUT ME TOUCHING THE BUTTONS TO LOWER OR RAISE THEM. I SEE BELOW THERE IS SPACE FOR ONLY 1 ENTRY FOR "APPROXIMATE INCIDENT DATE" SO I WILL USE THE FIRST ONE. TWO OF THESE INCIDENTS WERE COMING OR GOING TO MY DOCTOR FOR CHEMOTHERAPY. I HAVE CANCER. *TR
04 FORD F150 FAILED WINDOW REGULATOR. WINDOW WENT DOWN AND WON'T GO BACK UP. THIS PROBLEM IS COMMON ACCORDING TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP AND COSTS 400.00 TO FIX. I HAVE ALWAYS BEEN AN AVID FORD PICKUP PERSON AND WAS SHOCKED WHEN MY '04 MODEL PICKUP DRIVERS SIDE WINDOW QUIT WORKING....THE MORE I RESEARCH THIS SUBJECT THE MORE I SEE THAT THERE IS A SERIOUS PROBLEM THAT FORD SHOULD ADDRESS AND THEY ARE OFFERING NO HELP, VERY EXPENSIVE REPAIR QUOTES, AND THE PRICES OF THE REPAIR PARTS AT THE DEALER ARE ALMOST TWICE AS HIGH AS YOU CAN GET THROUGH INTERNET SOURCES. *TR
I OWN A 2004 FORD F-150 SUPER CREW LARIAT: DRIVER SIDE WINDOW BROKE WHILE AT LUNCH, VERY LOUD NOISE AND THEN WINDOW WOULD NOT ROLL BACK UP. HAD WINDOW REGULATOR REPLACED (UNDER EXTENDED WARRANTY) IN JULY OF 2008...THOUGHT IT WAS ONLY AN ISOLATED INCIDENT. 6 MONTHS LATER, THE SAME THING HAPPENED TO THE REAR PASSENGER WINDOW. REPAIRED FOR ANOTHER 100 DOLLARS UNDER WARRANTY. THIS TIME WINDOW BROKE WHILE THE TRUCK WAS PARKED IN THE DRIVEWAY. I FEAR THE OTHER 2 WINDOWS WILL BREAK NOW. I AM SURPRISED THE GLASS HAS NOT SHATTERED AND HAVE BEEN FORTUNATE THAT I WAS NOT ON THE FREEWAY DURING EITHER INCIDENT. IT MAKES A VERY LOUD SOUND WHEN IT BREAKS. SERVICE GUY AT FORD SUGGESTED I CALL FORD CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. SPOKE WITH REP AND SHE HAS ABSOLUTELY NO RECORD OF THIS HAPPENING TO ANYONE ELSE YET THE DISCUSSION BOARDS ON THE WEB ARE FULL OF 2004 FORD TRUCK OWNERS WITH THE SAME ISSUE. I HAVE OWNED FORDS FOR THE LAST 25 YEARS AND HAVE BEEN HAPPY WITH THE QUALITY. BUT SOMETHING IS OBVIOUSLY WRONG WITH THE DESIGN OR THE MATERIALS ON THE WINDOW MECHANISM. IT'S A $45,000 TRUCK, 84,000 MILES AND I TAKE PERFECT CARE OF IT. FORD ADVERTISEMENTS SAY IT'S BUILT FORD TOUGH AND I BELIEVE THEM BUT THE WINDOWS SHOULD NOT BREAK THIS EASILY AND ONLY AFTER 4 YEARS. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE FRONT WINDOWS WOULD OPEN WITHOUT WARNING AND REMAIN STUCK IN THAT POSITION. THE DEALER WAS AWARE OF THE ISSUE, BUT OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE CONTACT DID NOT INFORM THE MANUFACTURER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 49,000. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 37,000.
THIS IS THE THIRD TIME ONE OF THE WINDOWS HAS FALLEN INTO THE DOOR OF OUR FORD F150 PICKUP. THE WINDOW IS PARALYZED IN THE DOOR FRAME AFTER A REGULATOR SNAPS AND THE WINDOW CRASHES INTO THE DOOR. THE WINDOW WILL NOT ROLL UP AFTER THIS PART BREAKS. EACH TIME THIS HAS OCCURRED FOR US, IT HAS BEEN A DIFFERENT WINDOW. IT IS THE REGULATOR IN THE DOOR FOR THE ROLLING MECHANISM THAT SNAPS. WE ALSO VERY RARELY OPEN OUR WINDOWS BECAUSE OF THE HOT WEATHER, SO THAT DID NOT CAUSE IT. IT IS FORD USING FAULTY PARTS ON THEIR VEHICLE. WE WERE NOT HURT DURING ANY OF THE THREE OCCURRENCES, BUT THIS COULD BE A POTENTIAL DANGER FOR PEOPLE WHILE DRIVING. *TR
ON MY 2004 F-150 SUPER CREW W/75000 MILES I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE FRONT ROTOR 3 TIMES BECAUSE ROTORS ARE TURNING BLUE AND WEARING DOWN PREMATURELY CAUSING BAD BRAKING, BECAUSE BEARINGS ARE FAILING AND CAUSING WOBBLE AND OVERHEATING ROTORS TAKING TEMPER OUT OF ROTORS, I HAVE BEEN TO DEALERS AND THEY SAY CAN'T FIND PROBLEM AND MUST BE EXCESSIVE BRAKING, (NOT) THIS MODEL ROTOR HAS BUILT IN BEARING AND COST OVER 200.00 EACH. NOW WHEEL IS DOING IT AGAIN AND LOOKING AT 4TH SET OF ROTORS BECAUSE WHEEL IS WOBBLING( BEARING FAILING AGAIN) SOME THING HAS TO BE DONE BECAUSE OTHER PEOPLE ARE HAVING SAME PROBLEM WITH FRONT BRAKES ON THIS MODEL VEHICLE, DID INTERNET SEARCH, PLEASE LET ME KNOW. *TR
I OPENED THE DRIVER'S SIDE FRONT DOOR OF MY 2004 FORD F-150 WITH ONLY 27,000 MILES ON THE ODOMETER AND I HEARD A CLUNK SOUND IN THE DOOR. THE WINDOW WAS NO LONGER IN PLACE AND HAD FALLEN INTO THE DOOR. TOOK THE DOOR PANEL OFF AND CONFIRMED THAT THE WINDOW REGULATOR HAD FAILED PREMATURELY. IT SHOULD LAST A WHOLE LOT LONGER THAN IT DID. I READ ONLINE THAT THIS IS A WIDESPREAD PROBLEM, LATENT DEFECT IN THE DESIGN, AND FORD WILL NOT FIX IT ONCE THE VEHICLE IS OUT OF ITS BASIC WARRANTY. I NEED FORD TO RECALL THE VEHICLE TO FIX THIS LATENT DEFECT. *TR
RIGHT REAR EMERGENCY BRAKE ASSEMBLY SHATTERED, BENT AND BROKEN INSIDE BRAKE DRUM. PAD STRIPPED OFF ONE BRAKE SHOE, PINS BENT AND ACTIVATOR ARM BROKEN. OCCURRED WHEN EMERGENCY BRAKE APPLIED WHILE IN PARKING LOT. ALL PIECES STAYED IN THE BRAKE DRUM AND DAMAGED THE DRUM BEFORE THE VEHICLE COULD BE BROUGHT TO A STOP. COULD HAVE BEEN VERY SERIOUS IF IT CAUSED THE DRUM TO SEIZE DUE TO OVERHEATING OR JAMMING BETWEEN THE DRUM AND THE AXEL WHILE SPINNING AROUND INSIDE THE DRUM WHILE DRIVING. *TR
WHILE DRIVING IN A FUNERAL PROCESSIONAL IN THE RAIN MY BACK PASSENGER WINDOW JUST FELL. MY FAMILY WERE SOAKED, WE DID FIND A TRASHBAG AND TAPED IT UP BUT I MISSED PART OF MY MOTHER-IN-LAW'S FUNERAL SO MY WIFE WAS UPSET BEYOND WORDS. I THOUGHT THAT IT JUST JUMPED THE TRACK BUT NO SUCH LUCK. SO I RIDGED IT UP TILL I COULD TAKE IT TO THE SHOP. A MONTH LATER MY DRIVERS FRONT WINDOW FELL WHILE DRIVING IN 60 DEGREE WEATHER. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THE WARRANTY HAD JUST EXPIRED . $860.00 OUT OF POCKET. I WENT HOME AND LOOKED IT UP ON THE INTERNET AND FOUND HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS ON THIS REGULATOR THAT FORD SHOULD TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR AND RECALL. OTHER MODELS HAS NOT HAD THIS PROBLEM. SO AS LONG AS I OWN THIS TRUCK I WILL HAVE TO DRIVE AROUND WAITING FOR THE NEXT WINDOW TO FALL. *TR

YOU NEED TO RECALL THE 2004 F150 POWER WINDOW REGULATORS. I HAD BOTH OF THE REAR PASSENGER REGULATORS GO BAD (SUPERCREW). I HAVE REPLACED ONE ALREADY BECAUSE THE WINDOW WENT DOWN BY ITSELF, WOULD NOT GO BACK UP AND THE CABLE GOT ALL EATEN UP. DID I MENTION THAT IT WENT DOWN ON THE HIGHWAY AND MY 4 YEAR OLD WAS IN THE BACK SEAT. MY 2 YEAR OLD IS ON THE OTHER SIDE AND HER WINDOW HAD THE SAME ISSUE. THE WINDOW IS TUCK IN THE SHUT POSITION AND HAVE NOT MESSED WITH IT YET. I AM GOING TO TELL YOU THAT SHE IS NOT RIDING IN MY TRUCK BECAUSE OF THE FAULTY EQUIPMENT. I DON'T WANT TO TAKE MY CHANCES. TRANSMISSION WENT BAD AFTER WARRANTY. *TR
MY PREGNANT WIFE OF 6 MONTHS WAS DRIVING THE 45 MILE TRIP TO HOME AFTER WORK AND HER DRIVER'S SIDE WINDOW POPPED AND DROPPED. CURRENT TEMP OUTSIDE WAS 30, AND SNOWING. I DECIDED NOT TO TAPE A BAG TO COVER THE HOLE BECAUSE IF IT WERE TO COME OFF WHILE SHE WAS DRIVING THE TRUCK AND BLOW INTO HER FACE, IT MIGHT HAVE CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. I CUT A TEMPLATE OUT OF PLEXIGLASS INSTEAD AND PLACED IT IN THE WINDOW CHANNEL. THIS IS GREAT BECAUSE I CAN USE IT OVER AND OVER AND IT WILL FIT NICELY IN THE PASSENGER WINDOW WHEN IT BREAKS. THE DAY WE TOOK THE TRUCK DOWN TO GET IT FIXED IT WAS 13 DEGREES, AND 70 MILES LATER WE WERE AT THE DEALER. $400.00 LATER WE WERE OUT THE DOOR WITH A NEW REPLACEMENT THAT IS NO DIFFERENT THAN THE OLD ONE WITH A DESIGN FLAW. I DID NOT KNOW ABOUT THIS RE-OCCURRING PROBLEM WHEN I BOUGHT THE TRUCK, AND IF I DID I WOULD HAVE NEVER PURCHASED THIS FORD F-150. YOU WANT A BAIL-OUT, SELL AND STAND BEHIND YOUR PRODUCT BEFORE YOU ASK FOR SUPPORT FROM THE CONSUMER. *TR
ARRIVED HOME FROM WORK AND ROLLED UP BOTH THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER WINDOWS. I PUT UP MY SUNSHADE, LOCKED THE DOORS, AND WALKED UP MY DRIVEWAY, HEARING A "THUMP" BEHIND ME. WHEN I TURNED AROUND, MY DRIVERS SIDE WINDOW WAS DOWN. I ATTEMPTED TO ROLL IT UP AGAIN, AND HEAR A "GRINDING" NOISE FROM THE DOOR, WITH NO WINDOW MOVEMENT. AFTER DISASSEMBLING THE DOOR, I FOUND THE WINDOW REGULATOR IS BROKEN AND THERE IS CABLE WRAPPED ALL AROUND IT. I DID SOME INTERNET SEARCHES TO SEE IF ANYONE HAD INFORMATION ON REPAIRS, AND THERE IS A LOT OF INFORMATION, AS THIS IS A VERY COMMON FAILURE. GIVEN THE LOUD NOISE AND SUDDEN DROP OF THE WINDOW, I'M VERY GLAD THIS DIDN'T OCCUR AS I WAS DRIVING, IT COULD VERY EASILY CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. *TR
SITTING AT A STOPLIGHT, HEAR A LOUD POP IN DRIVERS SIDE DOOR, DRIVERS SIDE WINDOW FALLS DOWN INTO THE DOOR. TOOK TRUCK TO THE DEALERSHIP AND REGULATOR ASSEMBLY HAS FAILED - $450 FOR PARTS/LABOR. THIS HAS HAPPENED TO NUMEROUS FORD F150 OWNERS AND I'M AFRAID IT WILL HAPPEN TO MY REMAINING WINDOWS. DANGEROUS TO HAVE WINDOWS FAIL AND COLLAPSE INTO YOUR DOOR AT ANY MOMENT - POORLY ENGINEERED BY FORD - NEEDS TO BE RECALLED. *TR
WHEN THE WINDOW CABLE BREAKS (THE CABLE HOLDING THE WINDOW) THE WINDOW FALLS DOWN INSIDE THE DOOR. THIS HAS HAPPENED TO THREE WINDOWS ON THIS VEHICLE IN FOUR YEARS. THERE IS NO WARNING SIGNS. THE WINDOW JUST FALLS DOWN. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE IF THERE IS SOMEONE NEXT TO THE WINDOW WHEN IT BREAKS. SOMETHING COULD FLY THROUGH AND HIT THE PERSON OR CHILD. THIS COULD ALSO CAUSE SEVER PROPERTY DAMAGE IF THIS OCCURRED DURING A RAIN STORM. PERSONAL PROPERTY COULD BE STOLEN OUT OF THE VEHICLE WHEN THE PROBLEM HAPPENS. THERE IS NO ADVANCE WARNING. YOU LEAVE THE VEHICLE WITH ALL WINDOWS AND DOORS SHUT AND LOCKED, THEN RETURN TO THE VEHICLE WITH A WINDOW COMPLETELY GONE. IN ORDER TO REPAIR THE WINDOW THE COMPLETE INSIDE OF THE DOOR HAS TO BE REMOVED. MOST OF THE TIME THE LOCAL FORD DEALER DOES NOT HAVE THE PART ON HAND AND HAS TO ORDER IT. THAT CAUSES DIFFICULTY SINCE THERE USUALLY IS NO WAY TO SECURE THE WINDOW WITHOUT THE CABLE. IT IS DIFFICULT TO GET ANYTHING INSIDE THE DOOR TO PROP THE WINDOW UP AND IT IS VERY UNSAFE FOR PERSONAL SAFETY AND PROPERTY SAFETY TO DRIVE WITHOUT A WINDOW. IT USUALLY TAKES APPROXIMATELY $100 OR MORE FOR THE PART AND TWO HOURS TO REPAIR. IT WOULD MAKE MORE SENSE TO HAVE THE WINDOW LOCK IN A CLOSED POSITION IN ORDER TO SECURE PERSONAL AND VALUABLE ITEMS AND SECURE PERSONAL SAFETY. HAVING THE WINDOWS FALL INTO THE INSIDE OF THE DOOR IS A SAFETY ISSUE FOR CHILDREN AND ADULTS ALIKE NOT TO MENTION THE PROPERTY DAMAGE AND EXPENSE OF VALUABLES LOST THAT COULD OCCUR. WHAT IF THE VEHICLE IS STOLEN WHEN THIS HAPPENS? SINCE IT IS A FACTORY DEFECT WHO IS RESPONSIBLE. THE VEHICLE OWNER TOOK PRECAUTIONS AND LOCKED THE VEHICLE WITH ALL WINDOWS SHUT, THEN THE CABLE BREAKS AND THE WINDOW FALLS DOWN. THE VEHICLE IS COMPLETELY OPEN TO ALL KINDS OF DAMAGE EVEN TO THE POINT OF STOLEN COMPLETELY AT FAULT OF THE MANUFACTURER. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 FORD F-150. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL ACTIVATED, IT FAILED TO DEACTIVATE WHEN PRESSURE WAS APPLIED TO THE BRAKE AND ACCELERATOR PEDALS. THE SPEED IMMEDIATELY REDUCED TO 30 MPH. THE CONTACT PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND DETACHED THE FUSE FROM THE CRUISE CONTROL SYSTEM. THE INSTRUMENT PANEL WARNING INDICATORS WERE NOT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER AND REPAIRED AT THAT TIME. THE FAILURE RECURRED, BUT THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED AGAIN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 83,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 84,000.
2004 F-150 WINDOW REGULATOR FAILURE, BOTH REAR AND FRONT DRIVER SIDE WINDOWS DO NOT WORK AND MY VEHICLE ONLY HAS 38,000 MILES ON IT, BOTH WINDOWS FAILED WITHIN 2 WEEKS OF EACH OTHER AND THE DRIVER WINDOW FAILED WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED, THE WINDOW FELL DOWN INTO THE DOOR SO HARD IT SET THE CAR ALARM OFF, HAD I BEEN DRIVING THIS COULD HAVE BEEN A SIGNIFICANT DISTRACTION AND SAFETY HAZARD, FORD REFUSES TO ACKNOWLEDGE A PROBLEM WITH THESE WINDOW REGULATORS BUT I HAVE FOUND NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS/FAILURES ON THE WEB WHERE FOLKS WERE DRIVING AND THE WINDOW FELL INTO THE DOOR AND IN SOME CASES SHATTERED. *TR

I STARTED TO CHANGE THEM ONLY TO FIND THE SHAFT BELOW THE THREADS OF THE SPARK PLUGS STUCK ANYWAY. I HAULED THE TRUCK TO BOYD COUNTY FORD WHERE THE SERVICE MAN STATED THAT THIS WAS PRETTY COMMON AND THAT IT WOULD TAKE ABOUT 500 DOLLARS TO FIX. WELL 1000.00 DOLLARS LATER THEY REMOVED THE STUCK SPARK PLUGS AND REPLACED THEM WITH SOME NEW ONES. *TR
WHILE TAKING MY SON TO SCHOOL, THE REAR PASSENGER WINDOW MOTOR MADE A LOUD POPPING/GRINDING NOISE, THEN THE WINDOW SANK DOWN INTO THE DOOR. THIS HAPPENED ONCE BEFORE TO ME (SAME NOISES IN COLD,RAINY WEATHER, BOTH TIMES) ON MY FRONT PASSENGER WINDOW. SINCE IT COST ME ALMOST $400 FOR THE FIRST WINDOW, I REPLACED THE PART (THE ENTIRE REGULATOR) MYSELF THIS TIME. THERE IS A LITTLE PLASTIC PIECE THAT HOLDS THE WIRE IN PLACE THAT SEEMS TO HAVE BROKE. WHEN IT DID, THE REGULATOR GOT THE WIRE WRAPPED UP AROUND IT IN A NON-FIXABLE CONDITION. THIS IS A MAJOR DESIGN DEFECT THAT NEEDS TO BE REMEDIED. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 FORD F-150. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60-65 MPH, THE CONTACT HEARD SEVERAL LOUD POPS. THE VEHICLE BEGAN JERKING AND IDLING ROUGHLY. HE SHIFTED INTO NEUTRAL AND ALLOWED THE VEHICLE TO COAST TO STOP AT AN INTERSECTION. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN BACK TO HIS RESIDENCE AND THEN TOWED TO A LOCAL REPAIR SHOP. THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THE NUMBER 1, 3, AND 5 SPARK PLUGS DETONATED AND DESTROYED THE HELI-COIL FOR THE NUMBER 5 CYLINDER. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. WHEN I STARTED TO ROLL MY WINDOW DOWN IT JUST DROPPED DOWN ALL THE WAY. TRIED ROLLING IT UP AND IT SOUNDED LIKE BROKEN GLASS! I GOOGLED "REPAIR POWER WINDOW ON A FORD 2005 F150" AND LOW AND BEHOLD I FOUND "COMPLAINTS.COM" AND WAS SHOCKED TO SEE ALL OF THE COMPLAINTS ON THIS VERY SUBJECT! FORD IS MAKING A KILLING OFF OWNERS BY USING CHEAP, BREAKABLE PARTS AND BY NOT RECALLING THIS YET! THIS SHOULD BE RECALLED. MY WINDOW SOUNDED LIKE SOMEONE SHOT ME AND IT WON'T GO UP OR DOWN. THE QUESTION IS, HOW DID THIS DESIGN EVER GET PAST QUALIFICATION TESTING? FORD'S DESIGN ENGINEERS SHOULD BE EMBARRASSED TO HAVE MADE SUCH A POOR PART. FORD MOTOR COMPANY HAS DESIGNED A DEFECTIVE HEAD DESIGN THAT CAUSES SPARK PLUGS TO GET STUCK IN THE HEAD WHEN SERVICE IS ATTEMPTED. THE 100K MILE INTERVAL IS TOO LONG, EVEN SUB 50K MILES IS UNACCEPTABLE. THE CARBON BUILDUP AROUND THE LONG 2 PIECE SPARK PLUG CAUSES THE LOWER, CRIMPED ON PART TO STAY IN THE HEAD WHILE THE TOP 2/3 AND ELECTRODE COME OUT WHEN CHANGING THE PLUG. THIS DESIGN HAS BEEN PUT IN USE FOR 4 YEARS ON ALL 5.4L 3VALVE MOTORS. FORD HAS A TSB THAT ACKNOWLEDGES THE PROBLEM, BUT THEIR REMEDY STILL DOES NOT HELP. ONCE THE PLUGS, BROKEN AND UNBROKEN, ARE REMOVED, PUTTING NICKEL ANTI-SEIZE ON THE THREADS STILL DOES NOT REMEDY THE ISSUE BECAUSE THE THREADS ON THE PLUG ARE NOT WHAT IS STICKING. THE LOWER PART OF THE SPARK PLUG IS WHAT CAUSES THE TROUBLE. FORD HAS EVEN DESIGNED A TOOL TO REMOVE THE OFTEN BROKEN PLUGS. ALL HAVE FAILED IN THE SAME MANNER, WHERE THE CABLE CONNECTS TO THE PLASTIC. IT IS A BAD DESIGN, REPLACEMENT IS MADE FROM DIFFERENT MATERIAL. 2004 F150 5.4 TRITON SOUNDS LIKE A DIESEL ENGINE TOOK TO DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS AT APROX. 30,000 MILES. DEALER STATED THAT THIS IS NORMAL. ENGINE FAILED AT 98,000 MILES DUE TO VALVE TIMING ISSUES, RELATED TO CAM PHASERS. THUS CAM SHAFT QUIT ROTATING ALLOWING PISTONS TO COLLIDE WITH VALES CAUSING ENGINE FAILURE. DEALER NOW WANTS 7624.00 TO REPLACE ENGINE. THE FORD DEALERSHIP STATES THAT THEY HAVE NOT SEEN THIS TYPE OF ENGINE FAILURE. THE RT REAR WAS NEXT FOLLOWED BY THE LT REAR WINDOWS. EACH WINDOW FAILED WITH A LOUD BANK AND SLID INTO THE DOOR WHILE ATTEMPTING TO ROLL DOWN THE WINDOW. ALL 3 WINDOWS ARE BEING HELD IN THE UP POSITION BY WEDGING SCREW DRIVERS BETWEEN THE DOOR AND WINDOW. 3 WINDOWS IN LESS THAN 2 WEEKS! THE ESTIMATED COST FOR REPAIR IS 1500 DOLLARS WHICH I CANNOT AFFORD. THIS POSES NOT ONLY A SAFETY ISSUE BUT ALSO A SECURITY ISSUE. I OWN A FORD F-150,2004. I HAD A SLIGHT MISS IN THE ENGINE. I TOOK IT TO MY LOCAL FORD DEALER AND HE SAID I NEEDED TO REPLACE THE PLUGS,PROJECTED COST WAS 300.00 TO 350.00, AND WOULD TAKE THREE HOURS. (IT TOOK 8 HOURS &COST ME 496.00) I WATCHED THE MECHANIC FOR OVER 4 HOURS AND HE BROKE OFF 4 PLUGS IN THE HEAD,THE DEBRIS GOING INTO THE HEAD,HE TOOK AN AIR HOSE AND ATTEMPTED TO BLOW THE TRASH OUT. I LEFT THE FORD DEALER AND DROVE APPROXIMATELY 25 MILES ON THE INTERSTATE AND THE TRUCK STARTED JUMPING, MISSING, AND WOULD NOT RUN. I HAD IT TAKEN TO A GARAGE AND WAS TOLD I HAD INTERNAL ENGINE PROBLEMS. I FOUND A USED ENGINE WITH 15,000 MILE AND HAD IT INSTALLED.(IT WAS CHEAPER THAN REBUILDING THE OLD ONE)WHEN THE ENGINE WAS REMOVED WE FOUND PARTS OF THE PLUG THAT WAS TWISTED OFF HAD FELL ON THE VALVE SPRING AND BROKEN IT. I HAVE E-MAILED FORD AND MADE NUMEROUS CALLS TO THEM ,THEY HAVE NEVER RESPONDED IN ANY WAY.ON THE ENGINE THAT WAS INSTALLED,AFTER 52000 MILES I DEVELOPED A MISS IN THIS ENGINE,I TOOK IT TO ANOTHER FORD DEALER,THEY REPLACED THREE (3) PLUGS ,IT TOOK THEM THREE& HALF DAYS TO DO THIS AT A COST OF $360.00. I WAS TOLD THAT FORD HAD SENT A SERVICE NOTICE OUT STATING THAT THE PLUGS SHOULD BE REPLACED @50,000 MILE. I WAS ALSO TOLD BY THE SERVICE MANAGER THAT IT WAS NOT UNCOMMON TO COST OVER $1000. TO REPLACE THE PLUGS,AND THAT FORD HAD ALL DEALERS A SPECIAL TOOL TO DEAL WITH THE PLUGS REMOVAL AFTER THEY BROKEN OFF. IS THIS A BETTER IDEA ?.
