DT: THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 FORD F150. THE REAR END FAILED SEVEN TIMES. THE CONTACT TOOK THE TRUCK TO SERVICE DEALER ON 9-28-05, AND THE SERVICE DEALER ACKNOWLEDGED THAT THERE WAS A PROBLEM, BUT STATED THAT THE CONTACT COULD DRIVE THE VEHICLE , AND ADVISED HIM TO CALL CUSTOMER CARE BECAUSE THERE WAS GOING TO BE A DISAGREEMENT BETWEEN CUSTOMER CARE AND THE DEALERSHIP AS TO WHO WAS GOING TO FIX THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY. ON 10-03-05 THE CONTACT DROVE THE VEHICLE AT 45-50 MPH AND WHILE PULLING A WORK TRAILER HE HEARD A LOUD NOISE. THE BRAKES LOCKED AND THEN THE REAR END LOCKED UP. *SC . *AK
TURN SIGNALS FAIL INTERMITTENTLY. SOMETIMES HITTING THE BRAKE PEDAL, JIGGLING TURN SIGNAL SWITCH OR PARKING, PUTTING THE VEHICLE IN "P" THEN INTO "D" WILL GET THE SIGNALS TO WORK. DEALER CANNOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM (HENCE THE INTERMITTENT), BUT THE PROBLEM IS NOT FIXED. DEALER WILL NOT REPLACE PARTS. THE PROBLEM BEGAN OCT. 2005 AND CONTINUES. THE SIGNALS WILL WORK FOR DAYS AT A TIME, THEN FAIL FOR HOURS AT A TIME. THIS IS AN ACCIDENT AND TRAFFIC CITATION WAITING TO HAPPEN. *JB
DT: THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT UPON IMPACT, FRONT AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE VEHICLE IS AT THE DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIRS. *AK
ON 9/28/05 OUR 2004 F150 FORD PICK UP CAUGHT FIRE AS THE OPERATOR WAS DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 10 M.P.H ON A DIRT ROAD. THE FIRE APPEARED TO START IN A LOCATION IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS TOTALLY DESTROYED BY THE FIRE. *JB
I HAVE A FORD 2004 F150 ABOUT 2 MONTHS AGO THE ENGINE SHUT OFF WHILE I WAS DRIVING. IT SEEM TO BE HAPPENING MORE OFTEN LATELY. *JB
I HAVE A 2004 F150 EXT CAB LONG BED 4X4 WITH LESS THAN 3/8 OF A TANK OF GAS MY TRUCK WILL NOT OPERATE OFF ROAD ON HILLS AND DESCENTS IT STARVES FOR FUEL CUTS OFF AND DIES II LOSE ALL POWER STEERING AND BRAKES. I HAVE THE UPGRADED GAS TANK WITH 37.5 GAL CAPACITY. IT EVEN DIED ON ME ON THE INTERSTATE I-40 SEVEN MILES DESCENT COMING OUT OF ASHVILLE. IT NEARLY KILLED ME LOSING CONTROLS OF MY VEHICLE. I THOUGHT I WAS GOING TO HAVE TO HIT ONE OF THE RUNOFF SANDTRAPS TO STOP MY TRUCK. IT CONSTANTLY LEAVES ME STRANDED ON JOBSITES JUST TRYING TO PARK CLOSE TO A HOUSE ON A HILL. THE FORD DEALER (TOWN AND COUNTRY CHARLOTTE NC) SAYS MY ONLY CURE IS TO KEEP MORE GAS IN IT. I DID NOT BUY A 4X4 THAT I CAN NOT TAKE OFF ROAD PURPOSELY AND WOULD LOVE TO HAVE IT FIXED. IT IS DANGEROUS. I OFTEN DRIVE AS MUCH AS 80 MILES AT 13 MPG BEFORE THE LOW FUEL LIGHT EVER COMES ON AFTER IT DIES. WHEN I FUEL MY TRUCK WHEN THE LIGHT COMES ON I TYPICALLY PUT 30 -31.5 GALLONS, THAT MEANS AT FIRST FAILURE ON AN INCLINE I SHOULD HAVE ABOUT 14 GALLONS OF GAS GOOD FOR AT LEAST 100 MILES. I WORK AND HUNT AND CAMP OUT OF MY OFF ROAD TRUCK AND IT CAN NOT PERFORM ITS DUTY WITH LESS THAN A 1/2 TANK SAFELY. *NM
USING POWER WINDOW CONTROLLER TO ROLL UP VEHICLE WINDOWS, A LOUD BANG SOUND LIKE A GUN GOING OFF HAPPENS, THEN THE WINDOW(S) FALL INTO THE DOOR FRAME. DEALER STATED THE PROBLEM IS A FAULTY WINDOW REGULATOR. I'M ONE OF APPROXIMATELY 30 PEOPLE AT THIS DEALERSHIP WITH THIS PROBLEM. CURRENTLY THE DEALER IS STATING THE PART IS ON A NATIONAL BACK ORDER AND COULD BE MONTHS BEFORE IT IS IN. THE VEHICLE IS RENDERED USELESS, UNABLE TO ROLL UP WINDOWS OR SECURE THE VEHICLE. *JB
2004 FORD F150 REAR PASSENGER SIDE PULLED OFF THE ROAD TO THE SHOULDER. *TS THE CONSUMER MANAGED TO GET THE TRUCK BACK ON THE ROAD, HOWEVER IT IMMEDIATELY WENT OFF THE ROAD AGAIN AND THE CONSUMER LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND WENT ACROSS 4 LANES OF THE STREET, TRAVELED UP AN EMBANKMENT ON THE OPPOSITE SIDE F THE STREET AND HIT A TREE. IN ADDITION, THE NEXT THE CONSUMER'S INSURANCE COMPANY INFORMED HIM DURING THE INCIDENT HE HIT ANOTHER VEHICLE TWICE AND CAUSED THAT VEHICLE TO CROSS ALL FOUR LANES OF THE ROAD. *JB
REAR OF CONSUMERS 2004 FORD F150 PULLED HIM OFF THE ROAD. *TS THE CONSUMER MANAGED TO GET THE TRUCK BACK ON THE ROAD, BUT IMMEDIATELY WENT OFF THE ROAD AGAIN. WHEN THE CONSUMER MANAGED TO GET THE TRUCK ON THE ROAD A SECOND TIME, HE LOST CONTROL OF THE TRUCK AND WENT ACROSS FOUR LANES OF THE STREET. THE CONSUMER TRAVELED UP AN EMBANKMENT ON THE OPPOSITE SIDE OF THE STREET AND HIT A TREE. THE CONSUMER WAS TOLD BY THE INSURANCE COMPANY OF WHICH HE WAS NOT AWARE OF, THAT HIT ANOTHER VEHICLE TWICE AND CAUSED THAT CAR TO CROSS ALL FOUR LANES OF THE ROAD. *JB *NM
DRIVE TRAIN ISSUES WITH THE 2004 AND 2005 FORD F-150 MODEL TRUCKS. *JB
DT: THE BRAKES FAILED ON 8-21-05. THE CONSUMER WAS DRIVING WHEN THE BRAKES WENT OUT, RESULTING IN A COLLISION. THE CONSUMER NOTICED THAT THE CLAMP ON THE BREATHER WAS RUBBING THE BRAKE LINE. THE CONSUMER STATED THERE WERE NO PREVIOUS PROBLEMS WITH THE VEHICLE. THE CONSUMER WAS IN THE PROCESS OF HAVING THE REPAIRS DONE. *AK
DRIVER SIDE WINDOW FELL INTO THE DOOR AND WILL NOT ROLL UP.
DT: ON 8-15-05 TRANSMISSION SLIPPED WHILE DRIVING ON THE EXPRESSWAY AT 60 MPH. THE OWNER HAD TO PULL OVER. THE TRUCK STARTED TO BUCK AS IF IT WAS GOING IN AND OUT OF GEAR. NO WARNING LIGHT CAME ON. THE OWNER HAD TO PULL OFF SINCE TRAFFIC WAS BUSY, AND CHECKED THE TRANSMISSION FLUID, AND THERE WAS NO TRANSMISSION FLUID. OWNER HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO A DEALERSHIP, WHO ADVISED THE OWNER THAT THE TRUCK WAS MISSING ONE QUART OF FLUID, BUT COULD NOT FIND ANY OTHER PROBLEMS. THE DEALERSHIP FILLED THE TRANSMISSION FLUID. THE OWNER CHECKED THE TRANSMISSION FLUID A FEW MINUTES AGO AND IT WAS OVERFILLED. THE OWNER'S MANUAL INDICATED THAT THE HIGH FLUID LEVEL COULD BE AND INDICATION OF HAVING AN OVERHEATING PROBLEM. THE OWNER FELT THAT IT MAY BE A DECEPTION ON THE PART OF THE DEALERSHIP. HE FELT THAT THE TRANSMISSION WAS WARPED DUE TO BEING OPERATED WITHOUT ADEQUATE FLUID. THE DEALERSHIP DID FIND THE NUMBER 8 CYLINDER WAS MISFIRING, WHICH DID NOT SEEM TO RELATE TO THE TRANSMISSION SLIPPING. WHEN THE TRUCK WAS FIRST PURCHASED, THE OWNER NOTICED WHEN GOING UP A HILL IT STOPPED AND ROLLED. THE OWNER HAD TO KEEP THE FOOT ON THE BRAKE TO KEEP IT FROM ROLLING BACK. THE OWNER NOTIFIED THE DEALERSHIP ABOUT THIS PROBLEM. THE DEALERSHIP ADVISED THAT THIS WAS NORMAL. THE OWNER HAS NOT CONTACTED FORD YET.*AK
35 TO 40 MILE PER HOUR TREE HIT TO A 2004 FORD F150 4WD PICKUP, NO AIR BAG DEPLOYMENT RESULTED IN FATAL ACCIDENT. *NM
A CHATTER/ VIBRATION IN THE REAR- CLUTCHES IN THE REAR WERE REPLACED. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON- REPLACED THE FUEL VAPOR MANAGEMENT SYSTEM. BRAKE LIGHT ON ROOF LEAKING- LIGHT WAS REPLACED. ROOF OF TRUCK RUSTING- NOTHING DONE. *JB
DRIVE TRAIN VIBRATION THOUGHT THE CAB FLOOR AND STEERING WHEEL OF VEHICLE. AFTER NUMEROUS ATTEMPTS TO REPAIR AND 6 NEW TIRES, DRIVESHAFT AND NEW CLUTCH LOCKING PLATES. NEW RING AND PINION GEAR THE PROBLEM STILL IS THERE. THE VIBRATION PROGRESSIVELY GETS WORSE AFTER LONG TRIPS. ALSO THERE IS A CLUNK IN THE DRIVE LINE ON ACCELERATION AND A SEVERE TO MODERATE SHUDDER . FORD SAYS THAT THIS IS NORMAL FOR THE NEW BODY STYLE TRUCKS WHICH IS TOTALLY FALSE. FORD SEEMS TO SET THEIR STANDARD AND CUSTOMER SATISFACTION IS SET ASIDE. THE LIVE WITH IT ATTITUDE WILL NOT BE TOLERATED. (SUMMER, 2007, 28K) AT HIGHWAY SPEED (60 MPH) HUGE GRINDING NOISE AND VIBRATION, LIGHT IN DASH CAME ON BY ITSELF SHOWING, "4X4" TURNED ON, SLOWED TO 20 MPH, HUGE CLUNK AS 4 WHEEL DRIVE SYSTEM ENGAGED WITHOUT DRIVERS REQUESTING IT TO ENGAGE. FORD ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE WAS CONTACTED AND FORD TOWED VEHICLE TO FORD DEALER, FORD DEALER "REPROGRAMMED" SOMETHING, SAID IT HAD MOISTURE IN A SENSOR, CAUSING THE 4X4 TO TRY TO ENGAGE. (SEPTEMBER 12, 2011, 69,980 MILES) AT HIGHWAY SPEED, (58 MPH) DURING MILD ACCELERATION, 1500 - 1800 RPM, A MILD GRINDING SOUND FROM UNDER FRONT END, BY TAKING FOOT OFF GAS PEDDLE THEN REAPPLYING GAS THE GRINDING SOUND STOPS. CONTACTED FORD DEALER, THEY SAID DRIVE IT IN, CONTACTED FORD CUSTOMER SATISFACTION DEPARTMENT, THEY SAID TO HAVE DEALER CHECK IT OUT, FORD DEALER INVESTIGATED AND SAID THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH VOLUME OF VACUUM THAT IS NECESSARY TO PREVENT THE 4X4 SYSTEM FROM ENGAGING WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. FORD DEALER INDICATED THAT IT MAYBE UNSAFE TO DRIVE LIKE THIS AND THAT THIS IS NORMAL FOR THE VACUUM SYSTEM TO FAIL LIKE THIS, REPRESENTATIVE AT FORD CUSTOMER SATISFACTION DEPARTMENT SAID THAT THEIR DEALER KNOWS HOW TO DIAGNOSE AND CURE PROBLEMS BEST, AND SINCE THE VEHICLE HAS MORE THAN 36K IT IS NOT A CONCERN TO FORD. MY CONCERN IS THAT STEEL GEARS THAT ARE SUGGESTED TO BE ENGAGED AT A WALKING PACE ON SOFT PAVEMENT ARE AUTOMATICALLY FORCING THEMSELVES TO LOCK TOGETHER ON DRY PAVEMENT AT 60 MPH, AND FORD AND THE FORD DEALER SHOW LITTLE CONCERN FOR THIS CONDITION SINCE THE VEHICLE HAS MORE THAN 36K AND SINCE NO EXTENDED WARRANTY PURCHASED FROM THE DEALERSHIP. *TR
VEHICLE WILL NOT HOLD ON HILL. WILL TRAVEL BACK DOWN HILL AS IF IN NEUTRAL WHEN TRANSMISSION IS IN DRIVE. *NM
DT: CONTACT STATES AT SPEEDS OF 65 MPH, THE STEERING WHEEL STARTS TO SHIMMY BACK AND FORTH. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN TO THE SERVICE DEALER 3 TIMES. THEY REPLACED ONE TIRE AND A STEERING WHEEL DAMPENER. THIS DID NOT REMEDY THE PROBLEM. THE SERVICE DEALER SAID THEY WOULD SEND AN ENGINEER TO THE DEALERSHIP NEXT WEEK TO INSPECT THE VEHICLE. THE SERVICE DEALER EMPHASIZED THAT THE PROBLEM POSES NO SAFETY DANGER. *AK
DT: WAS DRIVING TO WORK WEARING SEAT BELT AND HEARD A CLICK OR POP FROM THE SEAT BELT NEAR THE SHOULDER OF WHERE THE BELT CAME OUT. CONSUMER THOUGHT IT SOUNDED MECHANICAL IN NATURE. PULLED AT SEAT BELT, THERE WAS NO LOCKING. AFTER TAKING OFF SEAT BELT, THE SEAT BELT DID NOT RETRACT. NO REPAIRS. CALLED 2 DEALERS, AND THEY WERE OF NO HELP, BUT SUGGESTED TO BRING THE VEHICLE TO SHOP AFTER THE WEEKEND FOR REPAIRS. HAD NOT CONTACTED FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE AT THIS TIME BUT CONSUMER PLANNED TO DO SO. *AK
I OWN A 2004 FORD F-150 SUPERCREW (NEW BODY STYLE). IT CAME EQUIPPED W/FACTORY INSTALL TRAILER TOW PACKAGE. I HAVE SINCE PURCHASED A ROCKWOOD TRAVEL TRAILER, WHICH I TOWED MANY MILES LAST SUMMER. I KEPT CHECKING AND RECHECKING MY WEIGHT DISTRIBUTION/SWAY CONTROL SETUP BECAUSE, WHILE TOWING, THE TRAILER SEEMED TO SWAY MORE THAN IT SHOULD, ESPECIALLY WHEN BEING PASSED BY TRACTOR TRAILERS. I WORKED W/REESE CUSTOMER SERVICE BY TRYING THEIR DIFFERENT SUGGESTIONS, TO NO AVAIL. I HAPPEN TO ALSO WORK FOR A FORD DEALER SO I TOOK THE OPPORTUNITY DURING A LUNCH BREAK TO RAISE MY TRUCK UP ON A LIFT TO BE SURE THAT ALL THE MOUNTING BOLTS WERE THERE AND THAT THEY WERE TIGHT. WHAT I FOUND STARTLED ME. THE 2" RECEIVER TUBE ON THE HITCH HAD SPLIT ABOUT 1 1/2" IN THE LOWER RIGHT CORNER, TOWARDS THE FRONT OF THE TRUCK. IT WAS ABOUT 1/8" AT IT'S WIDEST POINT. I HAD MY TRAILER'S TONGUE WEIGHED AT A CERTIFIED PUBLIC SCALE. IT WEIGHED 893 LBS. THE HITCH IS RATED FOR A 9,900 LB. TRAILER W/990 LBS. TONGUE WEIGHT-WEIGHT DISTRIBUTING ACTUAL WEIGHT OF THE TRAILER IS APPROXIMATELY 7,700 LBS.,FULLY LOADED. OUR DISTRICT FORD ENGINEER AUTHORIZED ADDITIONAL REINFORCING OF THE NEW HITCH AFTER WE HAD REPLACED. HE ACKNOWLEDGED THAT THERE HAD BEEN SIMILAR OCCURRENCES THAT HE HAD WITNESSED,EVEN THOUGH WHEN I CALLED THE FORD ENGINEERS IN MICHIGAN,THEY CLAIMED TO HAVE NO KNOWLEDGE OF THEM. INCIDENTALLY,THE FORD ENGINEERS ALSO TOLD ME THAT THEY BELIEVED THAT THE PROBLEM WAS MOST LIKELY A FAULTY HITCH,AND THAT THEY DID NOT BELIEVE THAT EXCESSIVE TONGUE WAS THE PROBLEM. BECAUSE THE HITCH WAS ALREADY IN THE TRUCK,AND THIS HITCH IS AN INTEGRAL PART OF THE REAR BUMPER/FRAME,THE REINFORCING WAS DONE W/THE HITCH IN PLACE. ONLY THE BOTTOM AND THE SIDES WERE ACCESSIBLE AND AFTER ONLY A FEW MORE TRIPS,THE TOP OF THE RECEIVER TUBE WAS OPENING BECAUSE APPARENTLY THE REINFORCEMENTS WORKED. RIGHT NOW, MY SERVICE MANAGER IS WORKING TO HAVE THE FORD HITCH REPLACED W/AN AFTERMARKET ONE, TO SEE IF IT STANDS UP ANY BETTER. *NM
DT: CONSUMER COMPLAINED ABOUT A TORQUE CONVERTER PROBLEM. WHEN DRIVING AND IN OVERDRIVE AT 45-55 MPH THE VEHICLE STARTED TO SHAKE. TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALER THREE TIMES. DEALER SAID IT HAS TO HAVE THE PROBLEM WHILE CONSUMER WAS DRIVING VEHICLE. DEALER COULD NOT DO ANYTHING TO HELP. VEHICLE VIBRATED. MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN CONTACTED YET.*AK 8JB
DT: THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED WHEN PRESSING ON THE BRAKES. CONTACTED THE DEALER, THEY DID SOME WORK TO IT AND SAID IT WAS A DIAPHRAGM, AND THEY FIXED IT. THIS WORKED FOR A WHILE AND THEN IT STARTED DOING THE SAME THING AGAIN. THIS WAS AUGUST 1, 2005. NOTICED IT MADE A GROANING SOUND AND SHOOK. THEY REPLACED THE TRANSFER CASE, AND IT HASN'T MADE THE SOUND SINCE THEN. WHEN STANDING AT STOP IT SURGED, GAVE A LITTLE JUMP/PULSATED AND TOUCHED THE BRAKES. IT HAPPENED INTERMITTENTLY. *AK *JB
2004 FORD F150 FX4 SUPERCREW. THERE IS AN INTERMITTENT BUZZING NOISE INSIDE THE CAB WHEN THE TRUCK IS IDLING IN DRIVE. THE NOISE USUALLY HAPPENS, AT A STOP, AFTER DRVING ON THE EXPRESSWAY FOR 20 MINUTES OR MORE. IT SOUNDS LIKE SOME SORT OF SENSOR GETTING HOT POSSIBLY OVERHEATING. THE NOISE USUALLY GOES AWAY AFTER THE VEHUCLE COOLS DOWN. HOWEVER, DURING SUMMER DRIVING THE FREQUENCY OF INCIDENTS IS HIGHER.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE LOSES POWER WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE SHOP THREE TIMES WITHIN TWO YEARS TO REPLACE THE FUEL PUMP. THE VEHICLE OPERATES NORMALLY FOR A FEW MONTHS, BUT WILL LOSE POWER AND START SURGING SHORTLY AFTERWARDS. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE IS 87,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 25,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE WOULD VIOLENTLY SHAKE WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THEY WERE UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE CONTINUED TO RECUR WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED BOTH FRONT COIL SPRINGS WERE FRACTURED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 20,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 57,200.
(3) I HAVE TO HAVE THE PULLEYS AND TSB CLUTCH FAN REPLACED IN MY 2004 FORD F-150. I AM UPSET BECAUSE I TOOK MY VEHICLE IN ON JUNE 13, 2005 WITH SAME PROBLEM AND WAS TOLD THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG. NOW 6 WEEKS LATER THEY KNOW WITHOUT EVEN LOOKING AT IT AND A BULLETIN HAS BEEN OUT SINCE MARCH 7, 2005. *JB
INTERMITENT SHAKING OF VEHICLE WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED AND ONLY STOPS SHAKING WHEN VEHICLE IS BROUGHT TO A COMPLETE STOP. NO WARNING THAT TRUCK WILL START SHAKING. BROUGHT TRUCK TO DEALER THREE TIMES AND DEALER COULD NOT REPLICATE SHAKING, SAYS NOTHING IS WRONG, REFUSES TO TAKE ANY ACTION. SERVICE BULLETIN ADVISES ADDITION OF REAR SUSPENSION DAMPER BUT COULD NOT BE INSTALLED DUE TO INTERFERENCE WITH DEALER INSTALLED TRAILER HITCH. DEALER IS REFUSING TO REPLACE EXISTING TRAILER HITCH WITH ANOTHER TRAILER HITCH THAT WOULD ALLOW INSTALLATION OF DAMPER.

DT: CONSUMER STATED HE HAS NO CONTROL GAUGES, NO SPEEDOMETER, NO AIR BAGS; THE DEALERSHIP DID NOT WANT TO BOTHER WITH IT. HE CALLED AGAIN THIS MORNING AND THEY SAID THEY WOULD GET TO IT WHEN THEY COULD. HE HAS NOT TALKED TO THE MANUFACTURER. HE NOTICED IT ABOUT 2 WEEKS AGO WHEN THE AC WENT OUT. THE CONSUMER SAID A MECHANIC HAD TOLD HIM FORD WAS HAVING A LOT OF PROBLEMS WITH THE COMPUTERS IN THEIR VEHICLES. *JB
THE BRAKE PEDAL IN OUR 04 F150 WAS NOT DEPRESSED AND OUR 5 YEAR-OLD HIT THE SHIFT AND THE TRUCK WENT INTO REVERSE AT A HIGH SPEED. THE TRUCK IS SUPPOSED TO BE EQUIPPED WITH A BRAKE-SHIFT INTERLOCKING FEATURE THAT DID NOT WORK. THE TRUCK IS SEVERELY DAMAGED, THERE WAS PROPERTY DAMAGE, I CALLED FORD AND THEY ARE NOT ACCEPTING ANY RESPONSIBILITY FOR THIS AND SAID THAT OUR INSURANCE PAID 900. SO THEY WILL NOT FIX THE PROBLEM OR REPAIR THE DAMAGED VEHICLE.
SINCE 3000K MILES MY TRUCK WOULD SHIMMY/SHAKE VIOLENTLY TO THE POINT I WOULD HAVE TO PULL OFF THE ROAD. AFTER MULTIPLE TIMES TO DEALESHIP PROBLEM STILL THERE. I NOTICED MY EMERGENCY BRAKE LIGHT STAYED ON ONCE AFTER PULLING RELEASE. HAD TO REAPPLY AND PULL AGAIN AND DID RELEASE. A WEEK LATER, E BRAKE WOULD NOT RELEASE AFTER MULTIPLE ATTEMPTS. AFTER PUTTING IN GEAR, FINALLY DID RELEASE. AFTER BACKING OUT OF DRIVEWAY, AS I STARTED TO DRIVE TRUCK WAS SHAKING BADLY. I DEDUCTED E-BRAKE STICKING CAUSING SHAKING. BROUGHT TO DEALER- FOUND STUCK E-BRAKE. REPLACED ADAPTOR, ROTOR ASY-BRAKE, CABLE ASY-PARKING BRAKE. PICKED UP TRUCK-TRIED E-BRAKE AND WENT TO FLOOR, DID NOT HOLD TRUCK WHEN IN GEAR. EBRAKE NOT WORKING AGAIN AFTER JUST BEING REPLACED.
MY 2004 FORD F150 WAS PARKED IN MY DRIVEWAY IN PARK WITH THE ENGINE RUNNING AND AC ON MAX. I LEFT IT RUNNING WHILE I UNLOADED THE BACK SEAT OF SEVERAL ITEMS. I THEN CLOSED THE DOORS AND PROCEEDED TO UNLOAD 4 CASES OF WATER FROM THE BED OF THE TRUCK. I MADE 5 TRIPS FROM THE TRUCK TO THE HOUSE AND WHEN I RETURNED AND PUT THE TAILGATE BACK UP MY TRUCK TOOK OFF TOWARDS MY HOUSE AND IMPACTED THE BRICK WALL OF THE GARARGE (APPROX 20 TO 25 FOOT DISTANCE). I TRIED TO RUN FROM THE BACK AND OPEN THE DOOR AND APPLY THE BRAKE BUT THE TRUCK HIT THE HOUSE AS I GOT THE DOOR OPEN. THE SHIFTER WAS STILL IN PARK. I APPLYED THE BRAKE AND PUT IT IN REVERSE AND MOVED IT BACK TO REVEAL THE DAMAGE. MY WIFE AND I TESTED THIS AFTERWARDS TO ATTEMPT TO DUPLICATE THIS WITHOUT BEING ABLE TO REPRODUCE IT. MY HOUSE AND THE TRUCK ARE DAMAGED AND I FEEL THAT THIS HAS THE POTENTIAL TO REALLY HURT SOMEONE. AFTER BEING TOLD OF THIS SITE BY MY INSURANCE COMPANY I SEE THAT THIS HAS HAPPENED TO OTHER PEOPLE AND ONE HAS ALMOST AN IDENTICAL STORY. SEE COMPLAINT 10081205. TIRES HAVE BEEN ROTATED AND BALANCED NUMEROUS TIMES, ROAD FORCE TESTED, DAMPER KIT INSTALLED, DRIVE SHART RE-INDEXED, TRIED NEW TIRES BUT MADE PROBLEM WORSE. ALSO TOLD BY DEALERSHIP TO DRIVE IT FOR AWHILE AND SEE IF IT GOES AWAY. *JB
REAR AXLE WHINE AT HIGHWAY SPEED WHEN ACCELERATOR IS APPLIED. UNREPAIRED TWO TIMES BY DEALERSHIP. THIRD REPAIR REFUSED BY ME BECAUSE DEALERSHIP AND FORD REFUSED TO REPLACE THE REAR AXLE AND WANTED TO KEEP MY TRUCK FOR AN INDEFINATE PERIOD OF TIME TO DISCOVER WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS WITHOUT PROVIDING ME A LOANER/RENTAL. A MANDITORY RECALL SHOULD BE REQUIRED FOR ALL VEHICLES WITH THIS PROBLEM WHERE THE REAR AXLE ASSEMBLY IS REPLACED, NOT JUST THE RING AND PINION. UNDER THE CURRENT TSB'S FOR THIS PROBLEM THEIR IS TOO MUCH ROOM FOR ERROR! VEHICLE ONLY HAS 5000 MILES.
WINDOW REGULATORS FAILED IN ALL FOUR DOORS OF MY 2004 FORD F-150 SUPERCREW PICKUP EARLY IN THE LIFE OF THE VEHICLE. THERE IS A SYSTEMATIC DESIGN OR QUALITY FLAW IN THESE REGULATORS WITH MINIMAL USAGE. VEHICLE HAS DRIVE TRAIN VIBRATION & REAR END HOWL SENSE I TEST DROVE IT AUG 2004. I POINTED OUT THE DRIVE TRAIN VIBRATION TO MY SALESMAN AND HE SAID IT " PROBABLY LOST A WHEEL BALANCE WEIGHT". A FRIEND WENT INTO THE SAME DEALERSHIP ( LINDQUIST FORD) AND WAS TOLD THE SAME THING AFTER THEY HAVE ACKNOWLEDGED THERE ARE TSBS ON THIS PROBLEM AND AFTER MY TRUCK WAS IN & OUT OF THEIR SHOP NUMEROUS TIMES. SO FAR THE TIRES AND WHEELS HAVE BEEN FORCED BALANCE, DRIVE SHAFT REPLACED, CAB MOUNTS REPLACED, TRANSMISSION TAIL SHAFT END PLAY CHECKED & REAR END REPLACED. NONE HAVE RESOLVED THE ISSUES. THE SERVICE MANAGER TOLD ME FORD HAS IDENTIFIED THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION AS THE PROBLEM. WE PRECEEDED TO ARRANGE REPLACEMENT AND I INSISTED ON A NEW NOT A REBUILT ONE. HE GOT BACK WITH ME AND SAID THE NEW FORD REP HE WAS DEALING WITH DOESNT REPLACE TRANSMISSIONS ! MINE SUDDENLY.......... YOU GUESSED IT.. ITS WITHIN SPECIFICATIONS !! THE DEALERSHIP MANAGEMENT WONT RETURN MY CALLS. FORD WONT BE SHAMED INTO FIXING THESE PROBLEMS UNLESS/ UNTIL THE MEDIA GETS INVOLVED.
2004 FORD F-150 2WD REG CAB LONG BED: 1 - SHIFTING VEHICLE WITH AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION DURING A COMPLETE STOP FROM REVERSE TO DRIVE 2 - ONCE DRIVE ENGAGED, THE THROTTLE ENGAGED AT FULL POWER WITHOUT DRIVER'S INITIATION OF GAS PEDAL. TRIED TO STOP VEHICLE BY APPLYING BRAKE FIRST WITH ONE FOOT, THEN WITH TWO, WITH NO EFFECT. THE VEHICLE FINALLY STOPPED ONCE SHIFTED TO NEUTRAL AND THEN TO PARK. DAMAGE TO VEHICLE CAUSED BY RUNNING THROUGH A CHAINLINK FENCE WHICH RESULTED IN APPROX $2500 IN REPAIRS. 3 - FORD ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE TOWED VEHICLE TO DEALER. SERVICE TECHNICIANS COULD NOT LOCATE PROBLEM. DAMAGED FIXED IN DEALER BODY SHOP VIA DRIVER'S INSURANCE POLICY. ONCE BODY WORK COMPLETED, THE BODY SHOP TECHNICIAN PUT IN A REQUEST TO THE SERVICE TECHNICIAN TO CHECK THE VEHICLE AGAIN AS THE THROTTLE WAS NOT RESPONDING PROPERLY. VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY STILL IN SERVICE SHOP FOR FURTHER MECHANICAL INVESTIGATION.

2004 F150 XLT SEVERE DRIVELINE VIBRATION BETWEEN 40-60 MPH. THIS VIBRATION IS MORE PRONOUNCED WHEN TOWING OR HAULING A HEAVY LOAD. THIS VEHICLE HAS BEEN TO BACK TO THE DEALER 9 TIMES IN THE LAST EIGHT MONTHS FOR THIS CONDITION. THREE SETS OF TIRES AND TWO SETS OF WHEELS HAVE BEEN ON THIS TRUCK, ROAD FORCE TIRE BALANCING HAS BEEN TRIED SEVERAL TIMES WITH NO APPARENT CORRECTION FOR THIS CONDITION IN SIGHT.
DT: THE CONSUMER BOUGHT A USED 2004 FORD F150 AND HAS BEEN EXPERIENCING A PROBLEM WITH THE ENGINE DYING WHEN APPLYING BRAKE PRESSURE. THIS OCCURS IN HIGH TRAFFIC AREAS AND AT SLOWER SPEEDS IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC. TOOK TO A DEALER AND THEY PERFORMED EEC DIAGNOSTIC QUICK TEST AND PINPOINT TEST DIAGNOSTIC IGNITION TESTS AS WELL. AS A RESULT OF THOSE TESTS THEY REPLACED A MASS AIRFLOW SENSOR ASSEMBLY AND REPROGRAMMED THE PCM. HAS BEEN TO DEALER ON 4 OCCASIONS FOR THIS PROBLEM AND DEALER CLAIMS THEY CAN NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT. CONTACTED FORD MANUFACTURER THEY HAD "JOYSTICK"OR TEST STICK INSTALLED IN VEHICLE FOR 5 DAYS IN WHICH CONSUMER WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM AT THAT TIME. THIS HAS HAPPENED 1 TIME SINCE. ALSO ON THE DASH THERE IS A 4X4 HIGH/LO LIGHT THAT ILLUMINATES ON THE DASH WHEN THIS OCCURS BUT THE VEHICLE DOES NOT HAVE 4 WHEEL DRIVE. DEALER SAID THEY WERE UNABLE TO RESET THE PCM TO CORRECT THIS PARTICULAR PROBLEM. THIS IS STILL A PROBLEM, NO RECENT REPAIRS. DEALER CAN NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM AT THIS TIME. *JB
FORD F150 TRUCK - THE TRUCK INTERMITTENLY EXHIBITS SEVERE VIBRATION THAT CAN BE FELT IN THE STEERING WHEEL AS WELL AS IN THE CAB. THE WHOLE TRUCK SHACKES WHEN THIS OCCURS. THE VIBRATION OCCURS PRIMARILY AT SPEEDS OF 40-60 MPH; BUT, HAS OCCURRED AT SPEEDS IN THE 75 MPH RANGE TOO. THERE IS A LOW LEVEL VIBRATION THAT IS PRESENT MOST OF THE TIME WHILE DRIVING. THIS LOW LEVEL VIBRATION TURNS INTO THE SEVERE VIBRATION PERIODICALLY. THE PROBLEM OCCURS ON SMOOTH PAVEMENT. IT IS VERY SCAREY WHEN THIS PROBLEM OCCURS. THE DRIVE SHAFT AND ENGINE MOUNTS HAVE BEEN REPLACED AND THE DEALER TRIED 4 NEW TIRES ON THE TRUCK TOO. THE PROBLEM STILL EXISTS.....ALAS IT IS INTERMITTENT AND THE DEALER HAS NOT SEEN IT. ONE INTERESTING FACT. WHEN THE DEALER PUTS THE TRUCK ON THE LIFT TO CHECK IT, THE PROBLEM GOES AWAY FOR A WEEK OR TWO; BUT, THEN RETURNS.
DT VEHICLE HAS CONSTANT VIBRATION, IT SHAKES VIOLENTLY AT 45 MPH AND ABOVE. THE DEALER STATES ITS THE EMERGENCY BRAKE CABLE CAUSES THIS TO HAPPEN. THEY HAVE ALREADY REPLACED THE MOTOR MOUNTS, AND THE REAR END TWICE BECAUSE THE ORIGINALLY THOUGHT THAT WAS THE PROBLEM. CURRENTLY, IT STILL SHAKES AND THEY THINK ITS BECAUSE REAR EMERGENCY BRAKE LOCKED UP. *AK.
THE CONTROL BUTTONS ON THE STEERING WHEEL DO NOT PERFORM INTENDED FUNCTION, OR FAIL ENTIRELY. OCCASIONALLY WHEN THE DASH LIGHTS ARE LIT, THE BUTTONS DO NOT LIGHT. THEY MAY OR MAY NOT COME ON LATER IN THE DRIVE. THE VOLUME + BUTTON MAKES THE CD TRACK OR RADIO STATION SKIP TO THE NEXT ONE, THE VOLUME - BUTTON MAKES THE VOLUME INCREASE. THE MEM BUTTON DOES NOTHING. THE CRUISE CONTROL STARTED SLIPPING, AS IF IT "FORGOT" THAT IT WAS ON. AND THE TRUCK ACCELLERATES, OR SLOWS. WHEN THE CRUISE WAS ON YESTERDAY, THE "RESUME" BUTTON DIDN'T WORK, AND THE "SET" BUTTON CAUSED THE TRUCK TO ACCELLERATE. FREQUENTLY, THE CRUISE CONTROL SIMPLY WILL NOT TURN ON AND SET AT ALL.
WHILE ACCELERATING FROM A STOP OR SLOWING AND TURNING TRANSMISSION SLIPS GEARS. VERY NOTICABLE BETWEEN SECOND TO THIRD SHIFT. GEAR SLIPAGE CAUSING LOSS OF ACCELERATION POWER. TRANSMISSION ALSO SHIFTS HARD AS IT SLIPS.
2004 FORD F-150 SUPERCAB; THE REAR DRIVER DOOR CAN BE IN THE 1/2 LATCHED POSITION AND THE FRONT DOOR CAN ENGAGE 100% AND THE OPEN DOOR LIGHT WILL GO OUT, YET THE DOORS ARE NOT FULLY SECURE. THIS WAS REPORTED TO DEALER WHO STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS IN SPECIFICATION; ALSO REPORTED TO FORD WHO STATED TO TAKE THE TRUCK TO DEALER FOR INSPECTION OF THIS PROBLEM. *JB
