TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO VIOLENTLY SHAKE WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH. THE VEHICLE WAS MANEUVERED TO THE SHOULDER AND THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL FAILED. THE DEALER MADE THREE ATTEMPTS TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. NO REPAIRS WERE PERFORMED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 4,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 62,000.
THE POSITION OF THE LEFT WINDSHIELD WIPER IS INCORRECT, PREVENTING IT FROM GOING ALL THE WAY UP AND CLEARING THE WINDSHIELD DURING INCLEMENT WEATHER. THIS IS MAKING THE ABILITY TO SEE THE ROAD DIFFICULT. MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED BY CONSUMER, AND WAS INFORMED THAT NOTHING COULD BE DONE TO ADJUST THE WINDSHIELD WIPER.*AK THE CONSUMER STATED THAT THE DRIVERS SIDE WIPERS WILL NOT DEFROST. *TC
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE REAR DRIVER SIDE WINDOW SUDDENLY SHATTERED. THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW FELL INTO THE DOOR PANEL THREE DIFFERENT TIMES PRIOR TO THE FAILURE AND THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW FELL INTO THE DOOR PANEL ONCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 15,000.

BOUGHT FROM DENVER DEALERSHIP WITH 6000 MILES.*AK 1) BRAKES BEGAN ACTING UP ( OVERHEATING ) 2) LEFT REAR EMERGENCY BRAKE LOCKED UP WHILE VEHICLE WAS APPROACHING DAM ON SNOW COVERED ROAD. TRUCK WENT INTO SKID AND SLAMMED INTO GUARD CABLE. EXTENSIVE FRONT END DAMAGE TO VEHICLE. WOMAN AND TWO YOUNG DAUGHTERS TRAUMATIZED BY VEHICLE HOVERING OVER 400 FT.DROP OFF DAM. APPROXIMATELY 10 FT MORE TO THE LEFT AND VEHICLE WOULD HAVE UNDENIABLY FLIPPED AND ROLLED TO THE BOTTOM OF THE DAM AND INTO THE POWER PLANT. 3) BROUGHT TO SUMMIT FORD DEALERSHIP IN SILVERTHORNE, CO. MECHANICS ALL AGREED THE LEFT REAR EMERGENCY BRAKE WAS DEFECTIVE AND LED TO THE ACCIDENT. NOW, FORD WON'T HONOR TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE AND STATE FARM INSURANCE SAY THEY WON'T REPAIR THE VEHICLE AS IS A FORD DEFECT. NEIGHBOR LADY HAS BEEN WITHOUT HER JUST BOUGHT VEHICLE NOW FOR OVER TWO MONTHS. COUNTLESS PHONE CALLS HAVE BEEN UNANSWERED OR IGNORED AS FINGER POINTING CONTINUE4S BETWEEN THE INSURANCE COMPANY AND FORD. I WAS CALLED TO SCENE AND HELPED VEHICLE OWNER GET TRUCK OFF GUARD CABLE.
I SAW YOUR REPORT ON THE NEWS ABOUT FORDS NEW FIRE PROBLEM. I HAVE A 2004 F-150 XLT LARIAT P/U TRUCK WITH 3000 MILES ON IT , ONLY 3 MONTHS OLD, CATCH FIRE ON ME AS I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD.IT WAS A SEVERE ELECTRICAL FIRE. BEFORE IT HAPPENED , THE RADIO WOULD STAY ON AFTER I LOCKED AND LEFT THE VEHICLE.I HAVE BEEN WITH OUT MY VEHICLE SINCE 10/04 . FORD , AND THE DEALER KEEPS GIVING ME THE RUN AROUND. FORD LEAGAL DEPT TOLD ME TO CALL MY INSURANCE CO!THEY ARE TELLING ME THEY ARE SENDING A FIELD ENGINEER 2-08-05 TO CHECK IT OUT. THEY HAVE BEEN VERY EVASIVE AND NOT CO-OPERATIVE AT ALL , AND I THINK THEY ARE COMMING IN JUST TO COVER THINGS UP! I CURRENTLY OWN A 2004 F150 FX4 SUPERCREW. THE TRUCK HAS A BAD VIBRATION BETWEEN (60-65 MPH) WHICH IN TURN CAUSES THE BED TO SHAKE. THE DEALERSHIP BALANCED THE TIRES AND REPLACED THE DRIVESHAFT, AND NOW THEY ARE ORDERING A COUNTER BALANCE WHICH WILL BE INSTALLED UNDER THE RIGHT REAR OF THE TRUCK. THE DEALER IS ALSO LOOKING INTO THE POSSIBILITY OF A PROBLEM WITH THE GOODYEAR WRANGLER TIRES WHICH HAVE 1 PLY OF NYLON IN THE TREAD--THE TIRES SEEM TO BE REAL BAD IN COLD WEATHER. I VOICED MY CONCERNS ABOUT THE BED SHAKING AND HOW YOU CAN TAKE YOUR FIST AND HIT THE REAR BUMPER OF THE TRUCK AND THE BED WILL SHAKE REPEATEDLY. ACCORDING TO A FORD TECHNICIAN--"THIS IS A CHARACTERISTIC OF THIS TRUCK". THIS "CHARACTERISTIC" MAKES THIS VEHICLE UNSTABLE ON ROUGH ROADS. PERSONALLY I BELIEVE FORD SHOULD SAVE ITS NAME AND CORRECT THE PROBLEM. I AM STILL WORKING WITH MY DEALER, BUT THINGS ARE NOT LOOKING GOOD. *JB
WITH 4K MILES, THE BRAKE ROTORS WERE SCARRED EXTREMELY BAD. THE DEALER AND THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THIS PROBLEM WAS DUE TO NORMAL WEAR. *SC THE CONSUMER STATED THAT THE VEHICLE IS UNDER FULL WARRANTY. THE CONSUMER STATED THAT HE CAN NOT AFFORD TO GET THE VEHICLE FIXED. *TC
I PURCHASED A NEW 2004 FORD F-150 SUPERCREW. THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL MADE A "WHINING" SOUND BETWEEN 45-50 MILES PER HOUR FROM THE DAY I PURCHASED THE TRUCK. MY TRUCK NOW HAS 7000 MILES ON IT AND THE WHINE HAS BECOME EXTREMELY NOISY AND NOW MAKES THE WHINE FROM 45 MPH TO 70MPH AND ABOVE. MY FORD DEALER WILL NOT MAKE ANY REPAIRS ON THE TRUCK BECASUE THEY ARE TOLD THAT FORD MOTOR COMPANY IS "INVESTIGATING THE PROBLEM" . FORD MOTOR COMPANY HAS BEEN INVESTIGATING THIS "PROBLEM" SINCE 07-04. IT IS NOT 01-05 WITH NO PROGRESS TO THIS PROBLEM AND IT HAS BECOME SO SEVERE THAT I GET HEADACHES JUST FROM COMMUTING EVERY DAY LISTENING TO THE CONSTANT "WHINE" SOUND. WHILE DRIVING IN HEAVY TRAFFIC THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP AND THE VEHICLE VEERED TO THE RIGHT. *NM THE ENGINE LIGHT HAD COME ON ANOTHER OCCASION. *SC *JB
WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH VEHICLE STALLED INTERMITTENTLY. CONSUMER MANAGED TO RESTART THE VEHICLE. DEALERSHIP WAS NOTIFIED, BUT DID NOT RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. *AK
2004 F-150 CAUGHT ON FIRE AS WE WERE DRIVING IT, PULLING 4-WHEELER. *AK
CONTACT STATES: REAR END SHOOK WHILE GOING ABOUT 25-30 MPH. WHEN DRIVING ACROSS SMALL POT HOLES THE VEHICLE MADE NOISE. BRAKES SQUEALED AT ABOUT 18,000 MILES. WHEN APPLYING PRESSURE TO THE BRAKES THERE WAS A LOT OF POWDER FROM THE BRAKES ON THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE. DEALER CHECKED BRAKE PADS AND THEY WERE MORE THAN HALF WORN OUT AT ABOUT 18, 000 MILES. ALSO , THERE WAS VIBRATION IN THE STEERING WHILE APPLYING PRESSURE TO THE BRAKES. WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE PULLED TO THE RIGHT. *AK
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 FORD F-150 SUPER DUTY TRUCK. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH THE FRONT DRIVERS SIDE WINDOW FELL DOWN INVOLUNTARILY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHO INSTALLED A NEW WINDOW ACTUATOR ON THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE. APPROXIMATELY 9 MONTHS LATER, THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW EXPERIENCED THE SAME FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE A SECOND WINDOW ACTUATOR WAS INSTALLED ON THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE. APPROXIMATELY 4 YEARS LATER, THE FAILURE RECURRED ON THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 10,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 40,000.
ALL 4 WINDOWS HAVE STOPPED WORKING ON MY 2004 FORD F-150 TRUCK ALSO MY REAR SLIDER IS NOW FAILING AND I HAVE ANOTHER WINDOW OUT AND 2 MORE FAILING ! GEZZZZZ SERIOUSLY EXPENSIVE AND FRUSTRATING ! I BOUGHT MY FORD F150 4X4 FLARESIDE 2004 LAST NOVEMBER 30,2004. DROVE IT HOME,NOTICE A STRONG VIBRATION IN THE STEERING WHEEL AND SHAKING OF THE WHOLE TRUCK AT SPEED BETWEEN 35-65 MILES. I TOLD THE SERVICE MANAGER ABOUT THE PROBLEM WHO TOLD ME THAT THEY CANNOT DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT UNTIL THEY HEAR ANYTHING FROM FORD HEADQUARTERS. AT 1800 MILES, MY TRUCK SHAKES SO BAD THAT I FELT LIKE SOMETHING MASSAGING MY CALF MUSCLES AND MY BACK, WORSE AT SPEED OF 55-65 MPH. I HAVE TO EITHER SLOW DOWN OR SPEED UP TO 70-75 MPH TO REMEDIED THE SHAKING. I HAVE CALLED FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE 3X AND ALSO BEEN TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR TIRE ROTATION AND BALANCE, THEN ROAD FORCE TIRE BALANCE AND THEN INSTALLATION OF A DAMPNER. IT DID NOT WORKED! I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AGAIN 1/11/05. THEY CANNOT GAVE ME A GOOD WAY TO FIX THE SAID PROBLEM. THIS IS CAUSING A LOT OF DISCOMFORT ON MY DAILY HOUR DRIVE TO WORK AND ANXIETY OF HOW SAFE AM I ON CONTINUING TO DRIVE THIS BUILD TOUGH VEHICLE AS ADVERTISED. I AM PLANNING TO FILE A LEMON TO GET MY MONEY BACK. DISPUTE SETTLEMENT BOARD IS OUT OF THE OPTION. *JB
I WAS DRIVING MY NEW FORD F150 ,3 WEEKS OLD, UP THE HIGHWAY 70 MPH WITH CRUISE CONTROL ON. SUDDENLY THE AIR BAG DEPOLYED, BURING MY RIGHT EAR LOBB. I THEN PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY ,WITH OUT ANY INCEDENT, WHEN I GOT OUT I NOTICED THAT THE DRIVESHAFT FELL OUT OF THE TRANSMISSION. THE TRANSMISSION WAS SHATTERED LIKE AN EGG SHELL. THE MECHANICS AT THE DEALERSHIP POINTED OUT THAT ONE C-CLIP WAS EITHER NEVER PUT IN THE FRONT U-JOINT. THEY DID NOT KNOW WHY THE AIT BAG SHOULD HAVE GONE OFF.THEY THEN TRIED TO TELL MY MY INSURENCE SHOULD FIX IT. THERE IS NO BODY DAMAGE NOT EVEN A PIECE OF DIRT MISSING. THEN THEY SAID THEY WOULD FIX IT. WWHEN I WENT UP TO SIGN WORK RELEASE THE SAID THEY WANT TO SEND THE TRUCK BACK TO THE FACTORY. BUT THEYNEVER DID THIS. I THEN TOLD THEM I DO NOT WANT IT BACK THEY CAN JUST KEEP IT. UNDER THE LEMON LAW. IT WAS ALRREADY IN THE SHOP FOR OVER 30 DAYS. THEY HAD THERE LEGAL DEPT. CALL ME AND TELL THAT IT IS NOT A LEMON AND I MUST KEEP THIS TRUCK. I DID NOT ARGUE. BUT THEN OUT OF THE BLUE THEY AGIAN SAYING I COULD COME UP THERE AND PICK OUT 1 OF 2 2005 F150 THAT WERE MORE EXPENSIVE AND DID NOT HAVE OPTIONS MINE HAD. I WOULD HAVE TO PAY THE CASH DIFFERENCE UP FRONT TO PICK 1 UP. I DID NOT HAVE THAT KIND OF CASH SO I STUCK TO MY WORD THAT I DONT WANT A NOTHER FORD TRUCK.AFTER THIS TIME NO ONE ELSE WOULD DISCUSS THE MATTER WITH ME THEY JUST HANG UP. NOW THEY SENT A LETTER TO SAY THEY SELLING MY TRUCK TO PAY FOR LEGAL FEES AND REPIARS. PLEASE HELP ME TO DECICED WHAT ACTION I SHOULDI TAKE . WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEED MY LEFT FRONT TIRE CAME OFF. THE TIRES WERE ROTATED AND TORQUED 5,000 MILES AGO. THE TRUCK WAS TOWED TO A FORD DEALER WHO DISMISSED US AND TOLD US THAT ITS OUR PROBLEM BECAUSE WE ROTATED AND TORQUED THE WHEELS. I TALKED TO A RELATIVE WHO IS AN ASST. PLANT MGR. FOR FORD AND HE SAID THAT THIS HAPPENS QUITE OFTEN AND THAT THERE MIGHT BE SOME ISSUES WITH THE MATERIAL THAT IS USED AS THE FINAL COATING ON THESE STEMS AND NUTS WHICH CAUSE THEME TO COME LOOSE. WE DECLINED TO HAVE THE DEALERSHIP FIX THE TRUCK AND TOOK IT ELSEWHERE FOR A SECOND OPINION. THE DEALERSHIP WANTED TO CHARGE APPROXIMATELY $1,700 TO FIX THE PROBLEM. THE SECOND OPINION TOLD US THAT ONLY A FEW THINGS NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED. STEMS AND BOLTS WERE REPLACED AND THE REST OF THE WHEELS WERE CHECKED FOR $211.00! PLEASES CHECK INTO THIS FOR ME. I WOULDN'T ASK FOR YOUR HELP IF I REALLY FELT THAT THIS WAS OUR PROBLEM. THANK YOU, NANCY JOWISKI *JB
WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 20 MPH VEHICLE STALLED. DRIVER WAS ABLE TO RESTART VEHICLE, AND IT WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION. MECHANIC DETERMINED THAT THE PCM NEEDED TO BE REPLACED, AND REPLACED IT. HOWEVER, THE PROBLEM RECURRED, AND THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER NUMEROUS TIMES. HOWEVER, DEALER COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. *AK
THE PROBLEM IS WITH THE REGULATOR ASSY FOR THE WINDOWS. THE FIRST WAS THE DRIVERS SIDE WINDOW WITH 37,513 MILES. I ASKED DEALERSHIP IF WARRANTY COULD PAY FOR IT AND IT WAS COVERED EVEN THOUGH THE 36/36 EXPIRED. THE NEXT WINDOW WAS THE RIGHT REAR (FELL DOWN INTO THE DOOR JUST LIKE THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE) THAT WAS ON 8/14/08 AND 57,916 MILES. I HAD TO PAY 342.55. NOW IT IS 12/23/08 AND THE RIGHT FRONT PASSENGER WINDOW FELL DOWN INTO THE DOOR. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY COULD NOT HELP ME UNTIL TOMORROW. NOW I HAVE PLASTIC AND DUCT TAPE ON MY TRUCK. I WANTED TO FILE THIS BECAUSE I KNOW THERE HAVE BEEN OTHER COMPLAINTS ON THIS MATTER. *TR
MY BATTERY LIGHT CAME ON THE DASHBOARD CAME ON, AFTER A FEW MINUTES IT WENT OFF, A COUPLE OF MILES LATER IT CAME BACK ON, THEN OFF AGAIN. I CHECKED MY VOLTAGE GAUGE AND IT WAS FINE. A COUPLE OF MILES LATER I NOTICED MY LIGHTS WERE DIMMING, I CHECKED MY VOLTAGE GAUGE AGAIN AND IT WAS READING ZERO. MINUTES LATER ALL MY ELECTRONICS WENT OUT, NO HEADLIGHTS, TAILLIGHTS, BRAKE LIGHTS, MY SPEEDOMETER WENT OUT AND EVERYTHING ELSE ON THE DASH. THEN THE ENGINE STARTED MISFIRING AND THE VEHICLE SHUT OFF. THIS ALL HAPPENED WHILE I WAS DRIVING. I LOST MY POWER BRAKES, MY POWER STEERING AND HAD NO LIGHTS. I NOTICED THAT WHILE I WAS WAITING FOR A TOW TRUCK, ME HEAD LIGHTS AND TAIL LIGHTS WERE STUCK ON. THEY WERE ON ONLY ENOUGH TO SEE THE ELEMENT IN THE LIGHT BULB GLOWING. THE KEY WAS OUT OF THE IGNITION AND THE LIGHT SWITCH WAS IN THE OFF POSITION. THEY STAYED ON FOR THE ENTIRE TIME I WAS WITH THE VEHICLE, WHICH WAS OVER AN HOUR. THE DEALERSHIP SAID ALL THEY DID WAS CHARGE THE BATTERY AND FOUND NOTHING WRONG. WHAT CAUSED THE BATTERY TO LOSE A CHARGE? THEY (FORD) COULD NOT ANSWER THAT QUESTION AND SENT ME ON MY WAY! *JB
THE VEHICLE WILL EMIT AN ELECTRICAL SMELL, THAT EVENTUALLY RESULTS IN THE OCCUPANTS HAVING TO EXIT THE VEHICLE SO THAT THEY WON'T GET ASPHYXIATE BY THE SMELL. THE OWNER TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A DEALERSHIP, WHO STATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL, AND PROVIDED NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE. *AK *SC *JB

PURCHASED 04 FORD F150 FX4 4X4 12/18/04. SINCE PURCHASE, ALONG WITH TWO OTHER NEW TEST DRIVEN EQUIVALENTS, NOTICED EXCESSIVE WIND NOISE AT 40 MPH. BEST WAY TO DESCRIBE THIS IS IT SOUNDS SIMILAR TO THE HEAT/COOL FAN AT HIGH (E.G. SETTING 4) SPEED. IT IS LOUD AND VERY IRRETATING. FOR THE PROBLEM TO BE RESOLVED, IT WOULD BE THE SAME AS WHEN YOU TURN OFF THE HEAT/COOL FAN AT HIGH. NOTE: THE HEAT/COOL ANALOGY IS FOR COMPARISON PURPOSES ONLY, IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH IT. NUMEROUS OTHER 'COMPLAINTS' HAVE BEEN LOGGED ON FORD TRUCK ENTHUSIASTS WEB SITE SO I AM NOT ALONE. IT DOESN'T SOUND LIKE ENGINE NOISE, MORE LIKE WIND/AIR ENTERING THE ENGINE AND MAKING IT'S WAY INTO THE CAB SOMEWHERE IN THE FRONT/BOTTOM OF THE DASH IS MY BEST GUESS. IT DOESN'T APPEAR TO BE A LEAK IN THE WINDSHIELD ANYWHERE, BUT THEN AGAIN, BASED ON ONE PERSON ON THE FORD TRUCK ENTHUSIASTS THREAD HAD THE PROBLEM FIXED AT A DEALER VIA A THIRD PARTY AUTO GLASS PERSON SEALING UP THE TOP OF THE WINDOW. THE EXACT SOLUTION IS SKETCHY BUT IT'S THE ONLY RESOLUTION I'VE SEEN. IN FACT, THAT PERSON GAVE THE DEALER CONTACT INFORMATION IF ONE HAS QUESTIONS: LEN - THE SERVICE MANAGERAT AT WOODY SANDER FORD, CINCINNATI, OH (513)541-5586. I ABSOLUTE HATE WIND NOISE AND IT IS SIGNIFICANT AND THUS A SOLUTION TO THIS PROBLEM MUST BE MADE BY FORD! I'LL BE DOING MUCH MORE INVESTIGATION... WHEN VEHICLE WAS BROUGHT IN FOR A KNOCKING NOISE IN ENGINE DEALERSHIP AUTOMATICALLY DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM WITHOUT INSPECTING THE VEHICLE AND REPLACING THE AIR RAID INTAKE AS STATED IN THE ABOVE RECALL. THIS PART WAS REPLACED THREE TIMES. HOWEVER THE KNOCKING NOISE STILL EXISTED. A FACTORY REPRESENTATIVE WAS CONTACTED. THE FACTORY REPRESENTATIVE VISIBLY SAW THE AFTER MARKET AIR RAID INTAKE SYSTEM INSTALLED, AND IMMEDIATELY INSTRUCTED THE DEALERSHIP TO DISALLOW THE WARRANTY, CHARGING THE CONSUMER FOR PARTS/ LABOR, AND RENTAL CAR COST. ALSO, FACTORY REPRESENTATIVE INDICATED THAT THE KNOCKING NOISE FROM THE ENGINE WAS DUE TO THE VEHICLE RUNNING LEAN BECAUSE OF THE AFTER MARKET AIR RAID AIR INTAKE SYSTEM WHICH WAS INSTALLED BY THEIR COMPANY. FORD REPRESENTATIVE WANTED TO CHARGE THE CONSUMER $6, 900 TO REPLACE THE LONG BLOCK WHICH WAS DAMAGED DUE TO THE ABOVE PROBLEM. *AK
I DRIVE A 2004 FORD F-150 SUPER CREW. ON A 50 DEGREE CLEAR DRY MORNING I LEFT THE HOUSE AND DROVE 100 YDS TO STOP SIGN AND STOPPED. TURNED LEFT DROVE 100 YARD TO STOP LIGHT CONTROLLED INTERSECTION. STEPPED ON BRAKE PEDAL. IT WENT TO THE FLOOR AND ENGINE RPM INCREASED WITHOUT INPUT FROM ME (MY FOOT WAS STOMPING ON THE BRAKE PEDAL). PULLED THE GEAR SELECTOR TO LOW, PUMPED BRAKE PEDAL REPEATEDLY, MADE A HARD RIGHT TURN TO AVOID ENTERING THE INTERSECTION AND ENGAGED THE EMERGENCY BRAKE TO STOP THE TRUCK. I SHUT IT OFF FOR A FEW MOMENTS IN ORDER TO CALM DOWN. UPON RESTARTING, THE BRAKES SEEMED TO WORK NORMALLY. THE TRUCK IS NOW AT THE DEALER FOR INVESTIGATION OF THE PROBLEM. *JB

2004 F-150 VIBRATION ISSUE. THIS IS A REAL AND SERIOUS ISSUE. I TOOK MY TRUCK IN FOR A DAIGNOSIS ON THE VIBRATION. THE DEALER SAID THEY NARROWED IT DOWN TO THE DRIVESHAFT. I WAITED 3 WEEKS FOR A REPLACEMENT DUE TO THE FACT THAT THE DRIVESHAFT WAS ON BACK ORDER. AFTER REPLACEMENT OF THE DRIVESHAFT, DEALER INFORMED ME THAT IT HAD NOT CURED THE PROBLEM. I WAS TOLD THAT FORD WAS LOOKING FOR A FIX AND THEY WOULD GET BACK TO ME WHEN THEY FIGURE IT OUT. AFTER PICKING UP MY TRUCK FROM THE DEALER I TOOK IT ON THE FREEWAY TO TEST IT OUT, TOOK TO ABOUT 55 MPH AND APPLIED THE BRAKES,I FELT A SERIOUS VIBRATION FROM THE STEERING WHEEL. I CALLED THE DEALER BACK AND NOTIFIED THEM OF THE UNSAFE HANDLING OF THE TRUCK. I WAS TOLD THAT THE TRUCK WAS SAFE TO DRIVE. BUT NO GUARANTEES!!! I CARRY MY CHILDREN IN THIS VEHICLE. DEAR SIR/MADAM I OWN A 2004 F150 SUPER CAB PICKUP TRUCK WITH 4 DOORS, I AM HAVING A PROBLEM WITH THE DOOR AJAR LIGHT. WHEN THE REAR DOOR IS AJAR THE FRONT DOOR WILL LATCH TO THE REAR DOOR, WHICH SATISFIES THE DOOR AJAR SAFETY LIGHT, BUT THE FRONT AND REAR DOOR ARE NOT SAFELY LATCHED. I AM A LARGE MAN SO MY SEAT IS AS FAR BACK AS IT COULD GO AND THE BACK IS SLIGHTLY RECLINED, WHEN I GET IN AND OUT OF THE VEHICLE MY SHOULDER HITS THE REAR DOOR HANDLE THAT PROTRUDES INTO THE DRIVERS SEAT AND AT TIMES WILL SLIGHTLY OPEN THE DOOR. PURCHASED 2004 FORD F-150 SUPERCAB 4X2 AT HUB CITY FORD INC IN CRESTVIEW, FLORIDA ON NOVEMBER 15, 2004. AFTER HEAVY RAINS THE PICKUP CAB FLOODED, COVERING THE REAR SEAT BACK, BENCH, AND CARPETING IN LARGE PUDDLES. UPON FURTHER INSPECTION, NOTICED THE BRAKE PEDAL ROD, STEERING COLUMN, AND ALL BARE METAL WAS SEVERELY RUSTED. *AK TOOK VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS "NORMAL" AND WOULD BE PAINTED, AND DETAILED TO CLEAN THE CARPETS. WAS ALSO INFORMED IMMEDIATELY THAT THE CAUSE OF THE LEAK WAS A FAULTY SEAL AROUND THE TOP CAB REAR BRAKE LIGHT. APPOINTMENT WAS MADE FOR TUESDAY NOVEMBER 30TH, 2004. INSPECTED THE CAB FURTHER ON SUNDAY (TODAY) NOVEMBER 28TH, 2004. RUST IS COVERING ALL EXPOSED METAL, INCLUDING THE SEAT BRACKETS (WHICH HOLD THE SEATS TO THE FRAME) ALL BOLTS, AND MOST OF THE REAR CAB METAL BEHIND THE REAR SEATS. WATER IS STILL COVERING THE REAR FLOOR PANS AND SIDE PANS UNDER PLASTIC SIDE STEPS (UNDER WHICH IS BOUND WIRING RELATING TO FORWARD TO REAR ELECTRICAL FUNCTIONS). THE DAMAGE FROM RUST IS NOT SURFICIAL, BUT DEEP, CRACKED AND PITTED. WILL ATTEMPT TO HAVE DEALER REPLACE VEHICLE ENTIRELY.
CONSUMER WAS PULLING INSIDE OF THE GARAGE AND VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED. CONSUMER APPLIED THE BRAKES AND PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR. THEN, VEHICLE CRASHED INTO THE GARAGE DOOR. UPON IMPACT, BOTH FRONTAL AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY. NO INJURIES WERE REPORTED. VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION, AND MECHANIC COULD NOT DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE COLLISION. *AK.....THE BRAKES DID NOT STOP VEHICLE, ND THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THERE WERE TWO CHILDREN, 5 AND 7 YEARS IN THE BACK SEAT WHO COULD HAVE BEEN SERIOUSLY HURT. IF THE VEHICLE HAD MOVED 3 INCHES TO THE RIGHT CONSUMER WOULD HAVE GONE THROUGH THE GARAGE DOOR, WHERE CONSUMER'S HUSBAND WAS WORKING AND COULD HAVE BEEN RUN OVER AND SERIOUSLY HURT. THIS HAPPENED AGAIN ON CHRISTMAS EVE WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED ON A CITY STREET IN MIDWAY, KY. IT WAS IN PARK WHEN CONSUMER TURNED ON THE IGNITION AND THE ACCELERATOR WENT WIDE OPEN. CONSUMER PUT FOOT ON THE BRAKES AND AFTER A FEW SECONDS THE ACCELERATOR WENT DOWN TO NORMAL. *AK

FORD ORGINALLY DID NOT KNOW THE PROBLEM, AND WENT DOWN THE TSB LIST REPLACING DIFFERENT PARTS SUCH AS TRANSMISSION MOUNTS AND DIFFERENTIAL BEARINGS UNTIL THE LAST SERVICE ON 1/27/05 FINALLY FIXED THE PROBLEM BY REPLACING THE RING AND PINION IN THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL. HOWEVER, ON 4/15/05 I NOTICED A VIBRATION AND GRINDING NOISE FROM THE REAR END WHEN TURNING FROM A STOPPED POSITION. VEHICLE WIKK BE BACK IN SERVICE ON 4/25/05.*AK

I STARTED HAVING PROBLEMS WITH PULSATIONS AND ABNORMAL AMOUNTS OF BRAKE DUST AT AROUND 1000 MILES. THE FORD DEALER TURNED THE ROTORS. AT 11,000 MILES THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT RIGHT DOWN TO THE FLOOR AND HAD TO BE PUMPED TO GET THE VEHICLE TO STOP. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY BLED THE BRAKES AND INSPECTED THEM AND SAID THEY COULD FIND NOTHING. *NM
MY 2004 FORD F-150 CAUGHT FIRE AT 5:30AM IN THE MORNING WHILE SITTING IN MY DRIVE WAY. THE FIRE ENDED UP CONSUMING THE ENTIRE VEHICLE AND THEN JUMPED TO THE HOUSE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOTALED AND TOTAL DAMAGE TO THE HOUSE WAS IN EXCESS OF $30,000. THE FIRE SEEMED TO START NEAR THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT INVESTINGATION RESULTED IN AN INCONCLUSIVE REASON FOR THE FIRE. THEY COULD NOT FIND ANY EVIDENCE FOR WHAT WOULD HAVE STARTED THE FIRE. *AK
DT:THE CONTACT STATES IN ORDER TO SHIFT THE VEHICLE FROM THE PARK POSITION, THE NEUTRAL SWITCH MUST BE MANUALLY PRESSED. THIS HAPPENS EVERY TIME THE VEHICLE IS DRIVEN. THE DEALERSHIP SAID THE NEUTRAL SAFETY SWITCH HAS A DEFECT, THE PART WAS ORDERED BEFORE THE VEHICLE WAS OUT OF WARRANTY. THE MANUFACTURE HAS BEEN CONTACTED; THERE ARE NOT RECALLS ON THIS VEHICLE. THIS VEHICLE IS NOW OUT OF WARRANTY AND HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. *NM
THIS VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED NEW IN THIS CONDITION; ON THE SUPERCAB MODEL OF THE F150, THE REAR DRIVER DOOR CAN BE ONLY PARTIALLY ENGAGED AND WITH THE FRONT DOOR LATCHED, THE DOOR DISPLAY LIGHT WILL BE EXTINGUISHED. THIS WILL LEAVE THE COMPLETE DRIVER SIDE DOOR IN A COMPROMISED CONDITION. USUALLY NOT KNOWN UNTIL DRIVING UNDER HIGHWAY SPEED AND HEARING A WIND WHISTLE FROM THE DOOR NOT BEING COMPLETELY CLOSED. I HAD CONTACTED FORD MOTOR CO ON DECEMBER 10TH OF 2004, ABOUT THIS AND THEIR SUGGESTION WAS TO TAKE IT TO ORIGINAL PURCHASE DEALER. HOWEVER THE DEALER WOULD NOT MAKE ANY ADJUSTMENTS, SIMPLY TELLING ME THAT I SHOULD MAKE SURE THE REAR DOOR WAS SECURE IN THE FULL LATCHED POSITION. I EVEN SHOWED THE SAME ACTIVITY ON ANOTHER VEHICLE ON THE LOT AT THAT TIME. FOR REASONS UNKNOWN, THE PASSENGER SIDE WILL COMPLETE THE CLOSING OF THE REAR DOOR IF LEFT IN THE 1/2 LATCHED POSITION AND THE FRONT DOOR IS CLOSED. *JB
