TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 FORD F-150. WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH, A LOUD POP SOUND EMITTED FROM THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE REAR DRIVER SIDE WINDOW OPENED INDEPENDENTLY. IN ADDITION, WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED, THE FRONT AND REAR PASSENGER SIDE WINDOWS EXPERIENCED THE SAME FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE WINDOW KIT FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 62,000.
STEERING HAS A POPPING SOUND!! U-JOINTS ARE WORE OUT IN STEERING COLUMN DUE TO LACK OF GREASE FITTINGS.
WHILE DRIVING, I TRIED TO STOP AND BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO FLOOR AND I HAD NO BRAKES.I HAD TO USE PARKING BRAKE TO STOP AND AVOID AN ACCIDENT. FORD DEALER TECH. SAID THE BRAKE FLUID WAS REMOVED FROM MASTER CYL.TO BRAKE BOOSTER DUE TO FAULTY SEAL.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 FORD F-150. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED, A STRONG ODOR OF FUEL WAS NOTICED AROUND THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT NOTICED FUEL LEAKING ONTO THE GROUND. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 04V443000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000.
BOTH REAR SUICIDE DOORS WILL NOT OPEN, THE LATCH MECHANISM IS BROKEN AND APPARENTLY COST OVER $700.00 TO FIX BOTH. IN ADDITION I HAVE REPLACED THE WHEEL BEARING ON ALL WHEELS TWICE AND NOW ANOTHER ONE IS GOING BAD. IT SEEMS LIKE I NEVER HAVE A PERIOD WHEN ALL THE BEARINGS ARE GOOD.
HAD OWNED THE TRUCK FOR ABOUT 2 MONTHS BEFORE THE ENGINE STARTED KNOCKING, STALING, AND WOULD JUST COMPLETELY SHAKE SO BAD THE TRUCK WOULD SHUT OFF LIKE IT WAS OUTTA GAS! HAD THE CAM SHAFTS REPLACED, FIXED THE PROBLEM FOR ABOUT 15 DAYS, THEN KNOCKING STARTED UP AGAIN..LONG STORY SHORT- ENGINE ENDED UP BLOWING UP! $5000.00 LATER FOR A REMANUFACTURED ENGINE WITH CORRECTED PARTS THAT SHOULD OF BEEN CORRECTED IN THE FIRST PLACE BY FORD! SELLING FAULTY PARTS THAT COULD NOT ONLY HARM MY FAMILY WHILE DRIVING BUT OTHERS ON THE ROADWAYS AS WELL... FORD NEEDS TO OWN UP AND CORRECT THEIR MISTAKES! I WILL NEVER PURCHASE A FORD VEHICLE AGAIN!
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2004 FORD F-150. AFTER THE GEAR SHIFT WAS SWITCHED INTO THE DRIVE POSITION WITH THE BRAKE PEDAL ENGAGED, THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED INDEPENDENTLY. AS A RESULT, THE CONTACT CRASHED INTO A DITCH AND THE VEHICLE ROLLED OVER MULTIPLE TIMES. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED A BROKEN HAND AND ARM, A SEVERED FINGER, AND BRUISING ON THE BODY THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
BLEW THE SPARK PLUG CLEAN OUT OF MOTOR LEAVING NO THREADS WHILE SITTING AT A STOP LIGHT
WE'VE HAD A LOT OF ISSUES WITH THIS TRUCK BUT THE MAIN ISSUE IS WHEN WE DRIVE DOWN THE ROAD IT MISSES A LOT AND THE SMELL OF FUEL IN THE TRUCK. WE'VE TAKEN IT IN AND THEY SAID A LOT OF OTHER PEOPLE HAVE HAD THE SAME ISSUES WITH THERE TRUCK LIKE OURS. PLEASE CONTACT US ASAP.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MOTOR IN THE THREE VALVE ENGINE FAILED BECAUSE THE CAM TOWER COLLAPSED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 72,300.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 FORD F-150. WHILE REVERSING, THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED INDEPENDENTLY. THE CONTACT SHIFTED INTO DRIVE AND THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE. THE VEHICLE CRASHED INTO A POLE AND A FENCE. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED A BRUISED ARM THAT DID NOT REQUIRE MEDICAL ATTENTION. IN ADDITION, THE FRONT AND THE REAR PASSENGER SUSTAINED NECK, HEAD, BACK AND KNEES INJURIES THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 170,000.
MY HUSBAND WAS DRIVING HOME THIS PAST SUNDAY AND WAS STARTING TO TURN INTO THE DRIVE WHEN THE LEFT PASSENGER WINDOW FELL DOWN INTO THE DOOR. HE HAD NOT PUT IT DOWN OR UP - IT JUST FELL DOWN. THIS IS NOW THE 4TH WINDOW WE HAVE REPLACED IN THIS TRUCK. THE OTHER THREE HAVE BEEN REPLACED, TO THE TUNE OF $350.00 EACH. WHEN I BROUGHT THIS TO THE ATTENTION OF THE SERVICE MANAGER AT THE LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP, HE SAID THERE WAS NOTHING THAT HE COULD DO - THE WINDOW REGULATORS JUST BREAK. I CONTACTED THE FORD 800 NUMBER AND WAS TOLD THE SAME THING - NOTHING TO BE DONE - JUST A BROKEN PART - EVEN THOUGH IT HAPPENS A LOT. HE SAID THERE WAS NO RECALL ON IT SO THERE WAS NO HELP THEY COULD GIVE. SO, I GUESS I'LL BE PAYING ANOTHER $350.00 AND PRAY THEY DON'T START DROPPING AGAIN SINCE FORD WON'T ADMIT THEY HAVE A PROBLEM.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 FORD F-150. WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS AND ATTEMPTING TO SLOW DOWN BETWEEN 15-20 MPH, THE VEHICLE MADE AN ABNORMAL NOISE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE SPARK PLUGS AND TIMING CHAIN FAILED AND WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 140,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
DURING AN OIL CHANGE IT WAS NOTICED THAT THE LEFT HAND FRONT DIFFERENTIAL MOUNTING BRACKET APPEARED TO HAVE A CRACK PURSUANT WITH TSB 06-11-12. HOWEVER UPON CLOSER EXAMINATION IT WAS SHOWN THAT THE DAMAGE WAS MORE EXTENSIVE THEN THE "CONCERN OF THE LEFT HAND FRONT DIFFERENTIAL MOUNTING BRACKET SEPARATING FROM THE FRAME RAIL." MENTION IN THE TSB. INSTEAD OF THE AFOREMENTIONED MOUNT BREAKING, A SECTION OF THE FRAME APPROXIMATELY 1/4 OF AN INCH AROUND THE WELDS FOR THE DIFFERENTIAL MOUNT ON ALL SIDES HAD SEPARATED FROM THE REST OF THE FRAME LEAVING A HOLE IN THE FRAME APPROXIMATELY FOUR INCHES ACROSS.
VIBRATION AT 45 TO 55. WHEN COLD STRONG JERK IN REAR END AREA AND SOMETIMES ON TURN TO RIGHT. ALSO COMES IN AT TIMES WHEN GOING TO PASSING GEAR. IT IS A DIFFERENTIAL ISSUE MORE THAN A DRIVE SHAFT ISSUE. ALL U JOINTS ARE TIGHT. NO IMBALANCE IN DRIVE SHAFT. HAVE GONE TO SPECIAL TEFLON GEAR OIL... THIS APPEARS TO BE DESIGN AND POSSIBLE SAFETY ISSUE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 FORD F-150. WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH IN THE RAIN, WATER POURED INTO THE REAR WINDOW OF THE CAB OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN REPLACED THE GASKET AROUND THE REAR WINDOW AND THE LAMP ASSEMBLY. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 31,000. UPDATED 11/19/15*LJ
ABS BRAKE SYSTEM. MY BRAKE SYSTEM BEGAN TO FAIL IN MAY 2015 AND HAS DONE IT EVER SINCE. WHEN I PUSH THE BRAKE PEDAL BRAKES FADE TO FLOOR. I HAVE NEARLY HAD SEVERAL ACCIDENTS DUE TO BRAKE FAILURE. I TOOK IT TO MY LOCAL DEALER (SACKELARIS FORD IN CAMDENTON, MO) AND THEY ANALYZED IT FOR AN OUTRAGEOUS FEE AND STATED THE PROBLEM WAS EITHER THE MASTER CYLINDER OR THE HAYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT ON ABS. I HAD THE MASTER CYLINDER REPLACED WITH A NEW MC AND IT HASN'T HELPED. MY BRAKE PEDAL STILL FADES TO FLOOR. I CHECKED ON THE INTERNET TO SEE IF THIS PROBLEM WAS A 2004 F150 F4 COMMON PROBLEM. IT IS AND A SHOCKING PERVASIVE ONE. NUMEROUS ACCOUNTS OF THIS PROBLEM WERE POSTED ON THE INTERNET. SO I ASKED THE DEALER IF THERE WERE ANY RECALLS FOR THIS AND THERE ISN'T. I CALLED THE FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE DEPARTMENT AND THEY CORROBORATED THERE WERE NO RECALLS. MY MECHANIC STATED THERE WAS A THECNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN FOR THIS REOCCURING PROBLEM (TSB REFERENCE # 17750, NHTSA REFERENCE # 10008234) AND FORD SHOULD FIX IT UP TO 100,000 MILES. I AGAIN CONTACTED THE FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE DEPARTMENT AND THEY AT FIRST DENIED THE TSB. ON A SUBSEQUENT CALL I GAVE THEM THE TSB NUMBER AND THEY STATED IT DID NOT COVER PAYMENT FOR THE REPAIR. THIS IS A FRIGHTENING EXPERIENCE AND I AM AMAZED THERE HASN'T BEEN A RECALL ON THE ABS ISSUE. I WILL NOT DRIVE MY TRUCK UNTIL I CAN GET THIS REPAIRED. THE ABS SYSTEM IS SUPPLIED BY BOSCH.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ACTIVATION SWITCH NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 67,000. MA 08/11/15 THE CONSUMER STATED THE LOCAL DEALER COULD NOT DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE DEALER REFUNDED THE DIAGNOSTIC FEE. UPDATED 1127/2015 *JS
THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL ACTS UP AND PREVENTS THE TRUCK FROM ACCELERATING PROPERLY. STUTTERS ALL OF THE TIME AND HAS A MILD MISFIRE AND WHAT SOUNDS LIKE KNOCKING.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE STATIONARY, THE CAMSHAFT PHASER MALFUNCTIONED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS A KNOCKING NOISE COMING FROM THE ENGINE OF THE VEHICLE. IN ADDITION, THE SPARK PLUGS AND THE TIMING CHAIN WERE THE SOURCE OF THE FAILURE AS WELL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 139,000.
ON MY WAY HOME FROM THE LAKE, MY VEHICLE STARTING IDLING ROUGH. PULLED OVER TO CHECK THINGS OUT, COULDN'T FIND ANY NOTICABLE ISSUES. RETARTED VEHICLE AND ENGINE STARTED SMOKING. I RAISED THE HOOD AND SMOKE WAS BILLOWING OUT FROM THE COIL ATOP THE NUMBER 2 SPARK PLUG, DRIVERS SIDE, LOOKING FROM FRONT TO REAR OF ENGINE. HAD THEVEHICLE TOWED TO BILL COLLINS FORD OF LOUISVILLE,KY.THEY INFORMED ME THAT THE SPARK PLUGS NEEDED CHANGING. UPON REMOVAL, 4 OF THE EIGHT SPARK PLUGS BROKE OFF IN THE ENGINE HEAD. THIS COST ME $857.00 TO CHANGE 8 SPARK PLUGS THAT NORMALLY I COULD DO MYSELF. THE BREAKING OF SPARK PLUGS IN THIS TYPE ENGINE, 5.4L TRITON, IS A WELL KNOWN ISSUE, THAT FORD MOTOR COMPANY KNEW ABOUT. YET THEY HAVE YET TO DO A RECALL. INSTEAD, THEY DEVELOPED A TOOL TO TAKE THESE BROKEN SPRK PLUGS OUT, YET THE CONSUMER STILL HAS TO PAY SOMETIMES UPWARDS OF $2,000.00 FOR THE REPAIR. FORD USED A SUBSTANDARD PART IN THEIR VEHICLES AND REFUSE TO HONOR THE CUSTOMER. THEY NO LONEGR USE THAT TYPE ENGINE, BUT ANYONE WITH A 5.4L TRITON ENGINE FROM FORD WILL HAVE TO PAY A LOT OF MONEY TO CHANGE EIGHT SPARK PLUGS WHEN THE TIME COMES. I COULD NOT PUT MY VEHCILE INTO GEAR WHEN THIS HAPPENED, THAT SEEMS LIKE A SAFETY CONCERN TO ME!
DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AT NORMAL SPEED OF 55 WHEN MY 2004 FORD F-150 4.2 V-8 BLEW A SPARK PLUG OUT OF HEAD!!
I BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE USED WITH 139000 MILES ON SATURDAY 05/16/15. NOW I WAS NOT EXPECTING A NEW VEHICLE BUT NOT ONE WITH SO MANY PROBLEMS EITHER. FIRST OF ALL IT HAS A VERY ROUGH IDLE, I FOUND THAT THERE IS A SERIOUS PROBLEM WITH THIS ENGINE AND REMOVAL OF THE SPARK PLUGS. THE REPAIR SHOP WILL NOT EVEN GIVE AN ESTIMATE FOR CHANGING THE SPARK PLUGS AS THERE ARE VERY WELL KNOWN PROBLEMS WITH THEM BREAKING OFF IN THE ENGINE. FORD KNOWS ABOUT THIS AND HAS PUT OUT A NOTICE ABOUT THIS KNOWN PROBLEM. I HAD TO TAKE IT FOR A LOWER STEERING ARM REPLACEMENT ON MONDAY 05/18/15 AS THE WHEEL WAS NOT RETURNING TO THE STRAIGHT POSITION WITHOUT ASSISTANCE. NOW THERE IS A HUMMING NOISE FROM THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL THAT THE REPAIR GUY SAID IS THE PINION BARRING AND THAT IT NEEDS TO BE FIXED. THE DEALER WINDOW STICKER HAD EVERYTHING CHECKED AS GOOD AND NO NOTES TO SAY THERE WAS ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE. NO SURPRISE THERE. AFTER CHECKING THIS WEB SITE I FOUND AN OPEN RECALL FOR THE AIRBAG WHICH WAS REPAIRED. I ALSO FOUND ALL THE REPORTS OF PROBLEMS WITH THIS VEHICLE. MY QUESTION IS WHY THE NHTSA IS NOT REQUIRING FORD TO RECALL THESE VEHICLES FOR THE NUMEROUS PROBLEMS THAT WERE REPORTED FROM DAY ONE AND ALLOWED TO CONTINUE THROUGH 2008. FORD WAS ALLOWED TO KEEP BUILDING THESE VEHICLES ALONG WITH OTHERS WITH THE SAME DEFECTIVE PARTS FOR OVER 4 YEARS. THAT IS JUST WRONG. I CAN NOT BELIEVE THEY ARE ALLOWED TO GET AWAY WITH THIS KIND OF CRAP.
I AM NOW A VICTIM OF THE 2004-2008 5.4L CAM PHASER PROBLEM. IT STARTED OUT WHEN I CAME TO A STOP LIGHT AND THE TRUCK STARTED SHACKING REALLY BAD AND MAKING A LOUD KNOCKING SOUND. AS SOON AS I ACCELERATED IT WENT AWAY SO I THOUGHT IT WAS A FLUKE. NOPE!! IT STATED DOING IT MORE AND MORE BUT I WAS NOT GETTING A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. FINALLY THE LIGHT CAME ON AND GAVE ME THE CODE P0012-INTAKE CAMSHAFT POSITION TIMING OVER RETARDED ON BANK 1. THE ONLY PLACE TO TAKE IT WAS FORD BECAUSE THEY HAVE THE MOST UP TO DATE AND COMPLETE DIAGNOSTICS TOOL. IT IS STILL IN THE SHOP RIGHT NOW BUT TO LOOK AT THE PHASERS TO SEE IF I NEED BOTH IT IS RUNNING ME $600 JUST FOR THEM TO REMOVE THE VALVE COVERS TO LOOK. HE SAID IT WAS GOING TO COST ME CLOSE TO $1500 JUST TO FIX THE ISSUE! I HAVE READ ALL OVER THE INTERNET ABOUT THIS ISSUE AND IT SEEMS LIKE FORD KNOW ABOUT THIS ISSUE BECAUSE IN 2013 THEY GOT SUED BECAUSE OF THIS SAME PROBLEM! IF YOU LOOK 2004 HAS THE MOST COMPLAINTS OF EVERY YEAR BY FAR! PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM THE 5.4L ENGINE OR FORD IN GENERAL. I DON'T EVEN WANT TO GET STARTED WITH THE SPARK PLUGS THAT BREAK IN THE ENGINE IF YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING. THAT WAS ANOTHER $600 BILL THAT FORD HAD TO DO. THE 4WD SYSTEM AS WELL HAD MANY ISSUES WITH THE IWE BECAUSE ITS A VACUUM SYSTEM AND WAS BRAND NEW IN 2004. TO MANY PROBLEMS WITH FORD!
ALL THE SUDDEN THE TRUCK STARTS MAKING A LOUD TICKING NOISE COMING FROM ENGINE, I HAVE ALWAYS GOTTEN OIL CHANGES AND HAVE NO CLUE WHAT THIS IS BUT IT HAS LOWERED POWER ALSO. IT IS STILL MAKING THE TICKING/RATTLING NOISE AND ITS LOUD.
MASTER CYLINDER LEAKED BRAKE FLUID INTO BOOSTER (JUST LIKE THE CURRENT INVESTIGATION ON FOOD F150) . CAUSING SUDDEN LOSS OF BRAKING ABILITY WHILE DRIVING. NEARLY CAUSED A WRECK. $700 SPENT ON REPAIRS.
I NOTICED THAT THE CRUISE CONTROL STARTED SHUTTING OFF WITHOUT EVER TOUCHING THE BRAKE PEDAL OR OFF SWITCH. THEN SOMETIMES IT WOULD WORK FINE FOR A FEW MINUTES THEN JUST SHUT OFF. WHEN IT DOES THAT IT WILL NOT COME BACK ON AGAIN TILL THE NEXT DAY. I THEN CHECKED THE CONSOLE SHIFTER, I WAS ABLE TO SHIFT OF PARK WITH OUT PRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL AND EVEN ENGINE IN OFF POSITION. I AM WORRIED THAT THE TRUCK MAY JUMP OUT OF PARK AND RUN OFF AND HIT SOMETHING OR SOMEONE. *TR
WITH HEADLIGHT SELECTOR SWITCH IN THE AUTO POSITION THE HEADLIGHTS CAN SUDDENLY TURN-OFF WHILE DRIVING. I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE NEW AND HAVE ALWAYS HAD THE HEADLIGHT SWITCH IN THE AUTO POSITION SINCE DAY ONE. WHEN DRIVING AT NIGHT THE HEADLIGHTS SUDDENLY SHUT-OFF WHILE GOING DOWN THE HIGHWAY, VERY NEARLY LOST CONTROL OF VEHICLE WHEN TRYING TO PULL OVER AND STOP. THE PARK LIGHTS STILL WERE FUNCTIONING AND GOT THE HEADLIGHTS BACK ON BY SWITCHING THE HEADLIGHT SWITCH TO THE MANUAL POSITION. PER DISCUSSION WITH DEALER BELIEVE THE BODY CONTROL MODULE QUIT WORKING. SPECIFICALLY, A RELAY IN THE BCM HAS FAILED BUT IS NOT REPLACEABLE. REPAIR COST IS OVER $400.00 TO CHANGE MODULE. CAN'T AFFORD RIGHT NOW TO FIX. RESEARCH ON INTERNET FOUND NUMEROUS OTHER SIMILAR FAILURES/SYMPTOMS BUT NOT CLEAR IF HAPPENED WHILE VEHICLE WAS BEING DRIVEN. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 11V107000 (AIR BAGS). WITHIN A FEW WEEKS OF PURCHASING MY VEHICLE IN FEBRUARY AFTER PULLING INTO A PARKING LOT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I ALSO NOTICED IT WAS MAKING A TICKING NOISE LIKE A DIESEL ENGINE BUT IT'S NOT A DIESEL. I WENT TO GET THE CODES AND FOUND IT WAS A RETARDED VARIABLE VALVE TIMING ISSUE CODE P0022. I LOOKED ONLINE AND WENT TO MULTIPLE SHOPS AND MECHANICS TO FIGURE OUT THE PROBLEM. AFTER PAYING TO REPLACE THE VCT SOLENOIDS IT WAS APPARENT THAT THAT WAS NOT THE ISSUE CAUSING THE TIMING PROBLEM. FOR WEEKS I NOTICED THE TRUCK SHAKING AND AT ONE POINT IT ACTUALLY STALLED AS I WAS PULLING OUT OF A PARKING LOT INTO A BUSY ROAD AND IT STALLED AS I WAS GOING INTO THE ROAD WHICH CAUSED THE ON COMING TRAFFIC TO SLOW AND STOP TO AVOID HITTING ME IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. AFTER SPENDING WEEKS IN THE DEALERSHIP SERVICE SHOP AND A LARGE SUM OF MONEY THEY FOUND THEY NEEDED TO REPLACE THE ENGINE ENTIRELY. I HAVE WITNESSED THIS ISSUE HAPPENING TO MANY MANY OTHERS ONLINE AND IN PERSON WHO HAVE THE SAME YEAR RANGE WITH THE 5.4L 3 VALVE TRITON ENGINES. THIS IS ABSOLUTELY UNACCEPTABLE FOR SO MANY VEHICLE TO HAVE THE SAME ISSUE ESPECIALLY WHEN IT HAS UNDER 100,000 MILES. IT IS NOT ONLY VERY POOR QUALITY FOR SUCH A LARGE PRICE BUT ALSO A SAFETY HAZARD TO THE OWNER AND OTHERS AROUND THESE VEHICLES.
THE FRAME OF MY 2004 F150 IS ALMOST COMPLETELY ROTTEN FROM THE FRONT OF THE LEAF SPRING ALL THE WAY UP TO THE DRIVERS DOOR. THE BED SUPPORTS ARE ALSO ROTTED COMPLETELY OFF MAKING THE BED UNSAFE AND UNABLE TO USE.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 FORD F-150. WHILE DRIVING AT 30 MPH AFTER REFUELING THE VEHICLE, THE FUEL TANK DETACHED AND FELL ONTO THE GROUND. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER, WHO INFORMED THAT THE FUEL STRAPS AND THE FUEL TANK RUBBER HOSE SEPARATED DUE TO CORROSION CAUSING THE FUEL TANK TO DETACH. AS A RESULT, THE FUEL TANK STRAPS WERE REPLACED BUT THE FUEL TANK RUBBER HOSE WAS NOT REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 180,000.
I WENT TO GO START MY F150 AND APRON STARTING IT STARTED TO MAKE A VERY LOAD BANGING NOISE WHICH I THOUGHT WAS A BLOWN ENGINE THE TRUCK HAD VERY LITTLE POWER AND WOULD NOT MOVE . I HAD TRUCK TOWED HOME AND UPON INVESTIGATION I FOUND THAT ONE OF THE SPARK PLUGS BLEW OUT OF THE HEAD. AFTER LOOKING INTO TO THIS MORE THIS IS A VERY COMMON THING WITH THE TRITON V8 MOTOR. THE HEADS ARE MADE OUT OF ALUMINUM AND EACH PLUG IS ONLY HOLD ON BY 4 THREADS FROM THE CONSTANT PISTON PUTTING PRESSURE ON THE PLUGS THEY BLOW RIGHT OUT OF THE HOLE THE ONLY WAY TO REPAIR IS TO RETAP THE HOLE AND INSTALL NEW PLUG. THE IS A FLAW FROM FORD AND THESE ENGINES SHOULD BE RECALLED AND PROPERLY FIXED BY FORD. WHEN THE PLUG BLOWS OUT RAW GAS IS GOING AND NOT BEING BURNED THIS CAN CAUSE AND SURE IT HAS CAUSED A FIRE ON SOME OF THE ENGINES . THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS PROBLEM AND COULD LEAD TO DEATH IF A PERSON IS LOOKING IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT WHEN ONE OF THESE PLUGS LET GO IT COULD KILL THEM PLEASE HAVE FORD OWN THE MISTAKE AND RECALL THE TRITON V8 2 CYLINDER AND 3 CYLINDER ENGINES. *TR
