2004 F-150 SUPER CREW - TAKEN BACK TO DEALER STARTING APPROXIMATELY 3 MONTHS FROM PURCHASE FOR SEVERE SQUEALING AND PULSATING, IT'S GOING BACK FOR THE 6TH TIME NEXT WEEK. THE ROTORS AND BRAKES WERE REPLACED TWICE AND SOME KIND OF SPRAY (YEAH RIGHT) AND STILL NOT FIXED. NOW SEVERE SHAKING AT ANY SPEEDS VERY INTERMITTENT, AND ALWAYS PULSATES LIKE WARPED ROTORS INCLUDING SQUEALING ALL THE TIME. OH YEAH THE REAR END CLUTCH PACKS WERE ALSO REPLACED THREE WEEKS AFTER PURCHASE. *JB
THE CONSUMER OWNS A NEW 2004 FORD F-150. THE CONSUMER NOTICED THAT THE ODOMETER, TRIPOMETER, OUTSIDE TEMPERATURE GAUGE AND COMPASS WERE MOVED TO A SMALL PANEL INSIDE THE SPEEDOMETER WINDOW. ON THE PREVIOUS MODEL THE GAUGES WERE VISIBLE. ON THIS MODEL THE GAUGES CAN ONLY BE SEEN AT NIGHT OR ON DARK DAYS. ON BRIGHT DAYS IT'S VERY DIFFICULT TO READ THE DISPLAYS. DEALERSHIP WAS NOTIFIED, BUT DID NOT RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. *AK *NM
I HAVE A 2004 FORD F-150 FX4 SUPERCAB. I AM EXPERIENCING TWO PRIMARY PROBLEMS WITH THE VEHICLE. FIRST, THE VIBRATION AND STEERING WHEEL "NIBBLE". THE VIBRATION IS PRESENT AT NEARLY ALL SPEEDS. IT FEELS LIKE THE VEHICLE IS ROLLONG OVER SMALL BUMPS IN THE ROAD. DEALER HAS HAD VEHICLE TWICE AND WILL HAVE IT AGAIN (3RD TIME) TOMORROW. CLAIM TO BE ABLE TO FIX THE PROBLEM. THE STEERING WHEEL "NIBBLE" HAPPENS AROUND 75-80MPH AND DID IMPROVE SLIGHTLY WITH REBALANCING THE TIRES. THE OTHER PROBLEM IS WITH THE A/C SYSTEM. THE SYSTEM IS NOT COOLING THE CAB OF THE TRUCK WHEN THE OUTSIDE TEMP IS 85 OR HIGHER. THE CONDICTION IS PARTICULARLY BAD WHEN THE VEHICLE IS AT IDLE. THE DEALER SAYS THE SYSTEM IS OPERATING AT SPEC. I TALKED TO A FRIEND WHO HAS THE SAME VEHICLE AND HE SAYS HE HAS THE SAME PROBLEM AND HE IS BRINGING HIS TO THE DEALER TO HAVE IT CHECKED. THE A/C IN MY FRIEND'S 1997 RANGER COOLS BETTER THAN MY NEW F-150. *AK
WHILE TRAVELING A SMOOTH STRETCH OF HIGHWAY THE TRUCK STARTED TO VIBRATE. THIS VIBRATION INTENSIFIED UNTIL THE WHOLE TRUCK WAS SHAKING. AFTER STOPPING AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT THE SHUDDERING CONTINUED UNTIL I PULLED OFF THE HIGHWAY AND TURNED AROUND IN A PARKING LOT TO GO BACK TO A NEARBY FORD DEALER. AT THIS POINT IT DID NOT SHAKE AGAIN. THE FORD DEALER SERVICE DEPARTMENT CHECKED THE WHOLE TRUCK OVER THE NEXT DAY AND COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING LOOSE OR DAMAGED. THE SHUDDERING FELT LIKE A UNIVERSAL JOINT GONE BAD. THERE HAS BEEN NO REPEAT OF THIS SINCE THE TRUCK WAS NEW. THERE HAS BEEN AN ONGOING SHUDDER WHILE MAKING TURNS FROM A STANDSTILL. MY LOCAL MECHANIC PUT AN ADDITIVE IN THE DIFFERENTIAL AND THIS SEEMS TO HAVE CORRECTED THE PROBLEM. I DON'T KNOW IF THIS MAY BE RELATED TO THE ORIGINAL VIBRATION. *NM
WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE WOULD SHIMMIED. DEALERSHIP WAS NOTIFIED, BUT DID NOT RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. *AK
TEST DROVE NEW F-150 SUPER-CREW-CAB 4X2, AT 60 MPH EXPERIENCED A TERRILBE SHIMMY IN STEERING WHEEL AND BAD VIBRATION FROM LEFT REAR OF TRUCK. RETURNED TRUCK TO LOT AND TEST DROVE NEW F-150 SUPER-CREW-CAB 4X4, EXPERIENCED THE SAME PROBLEM AT 30 MPH AND 60 MPH. BOUGHT 4X4, SALESMAN SAID THE TRUCK MOST LIKELY NEEDED WHEEL BALLANCING, OR IT WAS OUT OF ROUND. WE MADE AN APPOINTMENT FOR TWO DAYS LATER TO ADDRESS THE SHIMMY/VIBRATION PROBLEM.THE MECHANIC HAD THE TRUCK ON LIFT FOR TWENTY MINUTES. RESULT, DEALER HAS TO ORDER A PART FOR A SERVICE BULLETIN THAT REQUIRES A VIBRATION DAMPENING DEVICE TO BE INSTALLED. THIS IS INTERESTING, THER IS A WHOLE LOT OF NEW F-150 TRUCKS AT THIS DEALERSHIP. I DROVE TWO AND BOTH HAD SAME PROBLEM. THEY (FORD), HAVE A KNOWN SERVICE BULLETIN FOR THIS PROBLEM AND YET AS PLENTIFUL AS THIS PROBLEM IS ON THE LOT THEY HAVE TO ORDER THE PART, AGAIN FOR A KNOW PROBLEM DOCUMENTD BY THEIR BULLETIN THAT THIS PART IS REQUIRED AND THEY DON'T HAVE IT IN STOCK TO FIX MY TRUCK OR THE OTHER ONE I TEST DROVE ON THEIR LOT OR THE NEXT ONE AND SO-ON AND SO-ON.....AFTER READING ALL OF THESE COMPLAINTS THERE HAD BETTER BE A FIX FOR THIS OR I WILL SURELY DELIVER MY $40,000 WORTH OF INQUIRIES AND ADVERTISEMENTS. INTERMITTENTLY, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO RAPIDLY ACCELERATE, THE CONSUMER HAD TO TURN OFF THE IGNITION SWITCH TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE DEALERSHIP KEPT THE VEHICLE FOR 15 DAYS, HOWEVER THEY WERE UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. *JB
TRUCK BOUGHT IN OCT 2003, 4X4 SUPERCREW LARIAT WITH LIGHT COLORED SEATS. LEATHER SEEMS TO TURN BLACK AND FADE ONLY AFTER A FEW MONTHS IN LUMBAR AND BACKS, PLUS ARMREST CONSOLE. BASICALLY WHEREVER SOMEONE IS SITTING IN THE VEHICLE.*AK THEY REPLACE SEAT COVERS, BUT SINCE MAY 2004, THEY WERE REPLACD JUN 30, 2004 AND NOV 6, 2004. IT IS NOW MARCH 2005 AND STILL HAVING THE SAME ISSUE. NO ONE SEEMS TO WANT TO GET THIS PROBLEM RESOLVED.
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE 70MPH IT STARTED TO VIBRATE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A TIRE DEALERSHIP TO HAVE THE VEHICLE INSPECTED. THE MECHANIC FOUND THE PROBLEM TO BE IN THE TIRES, THERE WAS UNUSUAL WEAR ON THE TIRES AND SEVERE ROUNDING. THEREFORE, THE TIRES WERE ROTATED. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN FOR THREE MONTHS BEFORE THE VIBRATION WAS FELT AGAIN. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE TIRE REPAIR SHOP AND ALL FOUR TIRES WERE REPLACED. ONCE AGAIN AFTER DRIVING THE VEHICLE FOR A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME THE PROBLEM BEGAN WITH THE VIBRATION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK FOR INSPECTION, THE MECHANIC FOUND SEVERE ROUNDING OF THE TIRES. ALL FOUR TIRES WERE REPLACED AGAIN. THE TIRES ON THE VEHICLE HAVE BEEN REPLACED A TOTAL OF THREE TIMES. THE MANUFACTURER HAS BEEN ALERTED.
THE FOLLOWING LETTER WAS SENT TO FORD MOTOR COMPANY: MAY 1, 2004 FORD MOTOR COMPANY CUSTOMER RELATIONS CENTER P.O. BOX 6248 DEARBORN, MI 48126 GOOD AFTERNOON. THE PURPOSE OF THIS LETTER IS TO ALERT YOU OF A POSSIBLE PROBLEM WITH HANKOOK TIRES. I PURCHASED AND TOOK DELIVERY OF A 2004 F-150 VIN#[XXX] ON FEBRUARY 20, 2004. THIS VEHICLE CAME EQUIPPED WITH HANKOOK TIRES. YESTERDAY, APRIL, 31ST 2004 WHILE DRIVING THE RIGHT REAR TIRE SPLIT FROM THE RIM TO THE TREAD AFTER 5,000 MILES OF HIGHWAY DRIVING. I AM NOT AN EXPERT BUT I SEE NO SIDEWALL DAMAGE THAT COULD HAVE CAUSED THIS FAILURE. I SUSPECT THIS IS SIMPLY A BADLY DEFECTIVE TIRE. I HAVE STARTED THE PROCESS OF GETTING A NEW TIRE UNDER THE LIMITED WARRANTY OFFERED BY HANKOOK. I HAVE CONTACTED HANKOOKS CORPORATE HEADQUARTERS IN RANCHO CUCAMONGA, CALIFORNIA. I HAVE ALERTED MY LOCAL FORD DEALER, HERITAGE FORD IN LOVELAND, COLORADO BUT HANOOK HAS GIVEN ME A FORD HOTLINE NUMBER WHICH I WAS ADVISED TO PASS ON TO THE DEALER AS A FIRST STEP. I WILL DO THAT FIRST THING ON MONDAY MAY3RD. IF FORD WOULD LIKE TO INSPECT THE TIRE PLEASE LET ME KNOW PROMPTLY. I SUSPECT I WILL BE SENT TO A LOCAL HANKOOK TIRE DEALER FOR ADJUSTMENT AND THEY MOST LIKELY WILL KEEP THE DAMAGED TIRE. REGARDS, NO INJURY OR VEHICLE DAMAGE OCCURED. DT: LAST YEAR OWNER BEGAN HAVING PROBLEMS. THE FIRST TIME WHILE DRIVING AT 35 MPH OWNER TOOK FOOT OFF ACCELERATOR AND PUT IT ON THE BRAKE, AND THE VEHICLE SURGED FORWARD LIKE IT WANTED TO GO 70 MPH. THEN , A WEEK AGO, OWNER'S WIFE WAS BACKING OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY AND SHE LEFT SKID MARKS BECAUSE THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED AND SHE TRIED TO STOP. OWNER TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALER LAST YEAR. THE FIRST TIME THE SALESMAN CALLED FORD, AND THEY COULDN'T ADVISE WHAT WAS CAUSING PROBLEM. ON APRIL 14, 2005 DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY, BUT THIS DIDN'T HELP. THEN YESTERDAY THE SERVICE MANAGER CALLED FORD, AND TALKED TO ENGINEER, AND ENGINEER CLAIMED THAT PEOPLE WERE ACCIDENTALLY PUSHING BRAKE PEDAL AND ACCELERATOR PEDAL AT THE SAME TIME. IN THE LAST FOUR YEARS, OWNER PURCHASED FOUR NEW FORDS, AND NONE HAD THE ACCELERATOR PROBLEM. THIS PROBLEM HAPPENED SOMETIMES LESS THAN ONCE A MONTH, THEN, IT MIGHT HAPPEN SEVERAL TIMES IN ONE WEEK. THERE WAS NO WARNING WHEN THIS HAPPENED. OWNER WAS NOT AWARE OF RESULTS OF DIAGNOSTICS ON THE VEHICLE. OWNER WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE IN AN UNSAFE CONDITION. IN THE LAST FOUR YEARS OWNER HAS PURCHASED FOUR NEW FORDS, AND NONE H HAD THIS PROBLEM. SOMETIMES THE PROBLEM HAPPENED ONCE A MONTH. SOMETIMES IT HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES IN A WEEK. THERE WAS NO WARNING WHEN IT HAPPENED. OWNER WAS NOT AWARE OF ANY RESULTS FROM DIAGNOSTIC TESTS DONE BY DEALERSHIP. OWNER WAS DRIVING VEHICLE IN AN UNSAFE CONDITION. *AK
WHILE COMING THRUOUGH THE EXIT OF AN AUTOMATIC CAR WASH VEHICLE BEGAN TO RAPIDLY ACCELERATE. CONSUMER HAD TO PUT THE VEHICLE IN PARK TO GET IT TO STOP. CONSUMER HAD TO SHUT OFF THE MOTOR. )AK *TS
I HAVE AN 2004 FORD F-150 SUPERCAB 4X4. A FEW DAYS AFTER I BOUGHT IT, IT DEVELOPED A SLIPPING / SHUDDERING PROBLEM IN THE REAR END WHEN YOU STARTED FROM A STOP AND WHILE TURNING. SUNSTATE FORD SAID THAT THE SLIP YOKE HAD NO LUBRICATION. SO THEY LUBED IT. WITHIN 2 DAYS THE PROBLEM RE-OCCURRED. THE SHUDDERING HAPPENS HOT OR COLD BUT BECOMES WORSE THE MORE THE TRUCK IS DRIVEN. WHEN I BROUGHT IT BACK TO SUNSTATE FORD TO LET THEM TRY TO FIX IT AGAIN, THEY SAY THE PROBLEM IS NORMAL. I OWNED ALOT OF TRUCKS IN MY LIFE AND NOT 1 OF THEM DID THIS. FROM TALKING TO ONE OF THE SERVICE EMPLOYEES I LEARNED THAT THERE HAVE BEEN MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS PROBLEM. ADDITIONAL INFO: TRUCK HAS 4.6L ENGINE, AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION, AND A 3.73 LIMITED SLIP REAR AXLE. *AK

PURCHASED NEW FORD F-150 TRUCK FROM DEALERSHIP IN APRIL 2004. WAVY DISTORTIONS IN THE WINDSHIELD WERE EVIDENT. REPORTED DEFECTIVE WINDSHIELD TO DEALERSHIP, WHICH WAS THEN REPLACED IN JUNE 2004 (AN APPROXIMATE THREE WEEK WAIT WAS REQUIRED, BECAUSE DEALER REPORTED THAT NEW WINDSHIELDS WERE NOT AVAILABLE.) SECOND WINDSHIELD WAS ALSO DISTORTED, AND DEALER IN ANOTHER STATE SAID THAT WINDSHIELD SHOULD BE REPLACED BY DEALER THAT HAD INSTALLED SECOND WINDSHIELD. THIRD WINDSHIELD REPLACED IN JANUARY 2005, AFTER SIX WEEKS OF NEGOTIATIONS WITH FORD. THIS THIRD WINDSHIELD ALSO HAS THE WAVY DEFECT. *AK
VIBRATION IN 2004 F150 FORD TRUCK
VEHICLE HAS VIBRATIONS AT DIFFERENT SPEEDS. SERVICE MANAGER AND FORD ENGINEER CONCUR WITH MY PERCEPTION AND ARE TRYING TO REMEDY SITUATION. REAR-END OF VEHICLE BOUNCES WILDLY OVER BUMPS, DISPLACING THE REAR FROM THE DESIRED DRIVING LINE, RESULTING IN A DANGEROUS SITUATION.
THE EMISSION LIGHT CAME ON. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, AND CONSUMER WAS TOLD THAT FUEL PUMP WAS DEFECTIVE. THE GAUGE WENT OUT OF CONTROL. AFTER FILLING THE TANK, THE GAUGE READ EMPTY. *AK THE BRAKE LIGHT WIRING WAS INOPERATIVE, ALIGNMENT WAS OUT, THE VEHICLE HAD STUCK IN PARK, THE RIGHT PASSENGER DOOR WAS INOPERATIVE, THE SPEEDOMETER READ WRONG, AND THE VEHICLE WOULD DIE OUT. *SC
BRAKES & RACK AND PINION BAR. *AK
WHILE DRIVING 30-55 MPH THE ENTIRE VEHICLE WOULD VIBRATE/SHIMMY HEAVILY. SOMETIMES WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS TURNED OF THE VIBRATION WOULD SUBSIDE, OTHER TIMES IT WOULD NOT. THE DEALERSHIP WAS NOTIFIED BUT THE CAUSE COULD NOT BE DETERMINED. *LA *NM
THE VEHICLE HAS EXTREME VIBRATION AT 60 MILES PER HOUR CAUSING THE STEERING TO SHAKE MAKING THE ABILITY TO CONTROL THE VEHICLE DIFFICULT. THE CONSUMER HAS TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR REPAIR FOR A TOTAL OF 6 TIMES, BUT THE CAUSE IS UNDETERMINED.
STOPPED AT A "RED" TRAFFIC LIGHT WITH VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME, THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN. I PRESSED THE ACCELERATOR BUT NOTHING HAPPENED. I INSTINCTIVELY PRESSED FARTHER ON THE ACCELERATOR, AND THEN THE ENGINE REVVED TOO HIGH WHICH CAUSED ME TO HAVE TO SLAM ON THE BRAKES BEFORE HITTING THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME. THE THROTTLE DELAY IN "DRIVE BY WIRE" SYSTEM IS TOO PRONOUNCED AND COULD LEAD TO AN ACCIDENT, EITHER IN THE MANNER THAT HAPPENED TO ME, OR IF I WERE TO PULL OUT INTO TRAFFIC THINKING I HAD ENOUGH TIME BUT REALLY DIDN'T BECAUSE OF THE THROTTLE DELAY. THE DELAY IS USUALLY AROUND ONE SECOND FROM THE TIME I HIT THE GAS TO THE TIME THE ENGINE RPM CHANGES. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER, AND THEY RE-FLASHED THE PCM TO THE LATEST VERSION THEY HAD, BUT IT DID NOT SEEM TO MAKE ANY DIFFERENCE IN THROTTLE RESPONSE. THERE IS CURRENTLY NO TSB FOR THIS SYMPTOM.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 FORD F150. THE CONTACT HAD TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR ROUTINE MAINTENANCE. WHILE THE TECHNICIAN WAS PERFORMING THE REPAIR, THE SPARK PLUGS FRACTURED. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE SPARK PLUG FAILURE WAS A COMMON ISSUE DUE TO THE DESIGN OF THE ENGINE. CURRENTLY, THE VEHICLE WAS BEING REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 92,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.

AN EXCRUCIATING HIGH PITCH NOISE IS PRODUCED FROM THE DASHBOARD AREA OF MY 2004 F150 HERITAGE AT SPEEDS BETWEEN 20-40MPH. THE NOISE PRODUCES AN EARACHE EQUAL TO A SMALL MIGRAINE AFTER 30 MINUTES. THE DEALER HAS OVERHAULED THE TRANSFER CASE AND TAKEN THE TRANSMISSION OUT TO REPLACE BEARINGS BUT THE PROBLEM STILL EXISTS. DEALER HAS STATED THAT THEY HEAR THE NOISE BUT DOESN'T KNOW HOW TO FIX THE PROBLEM. MY TRUCK HAS LESS THAN 1000 MILES ON IT CURRENTLY.
WHILE DRIVING 25 MPH,THE DRIVER APPLIED THE BRAKES,THE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR. THE VEHICLE CONTINUE TO PICK UP SPEED. THE DRIVER WAS ABLE TO MAINTAIN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE BY PUMPING THE BRAKES. THE DRIVER WAS ABLE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE HOME AND CALLED A TOWED TRUCK TO HAVE THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION. THE MECHANIC INFORMED THE DRIVER THAT THE MASTER CYLINDER NEEDED REPLACING. *MR *NM
VIBRATION IN STEERING WHEEL. REPLACED FRONT/REAR ROTORS, RACK AND PINION, STEERING GEAR AND BALANCED ALL TIRES. *BF STEERING VIBRATION AT HWY SPEEDS. STEERING SHAKES WHEN BRAKING. *TC *JB
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 FORD F150. WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH, THE VEHICLE'S STEERING WHEEL AND FRONT END SHAKE. THE RACK AND PINION WAS REPLACED AT 48,000 MILES, THE ROTORS WERE REPLACED AND TURNED SEVERAL TIMES, AND THE CALIPERS WERE REPLACED AS WELL. HOWEVER, THE FAILURE PERSISTS. WHILE DRIVING OVER 40 MPH AND MAKING A SUDDEN STOP, THE BRAKE PEDAL GOES ALL THE WAY DOWN TO THE FLOOR AND THE VEHICLE EVENTUALLY STOPS. THE CURRENT MILEAGE IS 51,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 2,000.

I HAVE A 2004 F-150 SUPERCREW AND HAVE NOTICED A VIBRATION/SHUDDER IN THE REAR END BETWEEN SPEEDS OF 25-45 MPH SINCE INCEPTION. ONCE OVER 50 MPH IT SEEMS TO DISIPATE. ALSO EXPERIENCING THE OCCASSIONAL NIBBLE AT THE STEERING WHEEL. INTERMITTENTLY FRONT AND REAR END OF VEHICLE SHUTTERED AND VIBRATED. THE PROBLEM BECAME WORSE WHEN VEHICLE'S SPEED REACHED AND EXCEEDED 52 MPH. DEALERSHIP INSTALLED A DAMPTER KIT, BUT THE PROBLEM RECURRED. *AK
I HAVE A 2004 F-150 (EXTENDED CAB). WHILE TAKING OFF, TURNING LEFT OR RIGHT- YOU WILL FEEL A VIBRATION IN THE REAR. THIS DEVELOPED APPROX. 1 MONTH AFTER RECEIVING THE NEW TRUCK. I HAVE RETURNED THE VEHICLE TO MY SERVICE DEPARTMENT, AND THE SERVICE MANAGER FELT THE VIBRATION AS WELL. HE ORDERED A WHOLE NEW REAR AXLE ASSEMBLY, AND THIS WAS REPLACED. HE EXPLAINED THIS PROBLEM WAS DUE TO WHEN TURNING- ONE WHEEL IS MOVING FASTER THAN THE OTHER, WHICH SOMETIMES CAUSES THIS VIBRATION IF IT WAS NOT PROPERLY LUBRICATED. I FELT THE VIBRATION MORE WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS COLD, AND THE AXLE WAS NOT WARM. AFTER THE FIRST REPAIR, THE NEW AXLE WORKED FINE- BUT THE PROBLEM HAS RETURNED- APPROX. 1 MONTH LATER. I ONLY HAVE 6500 MILES ON THE TRUCK, AND THIS WILL BE IT'S 3RD REAR AXLE. IF ANY ONE ELSE IS EXPERIENCING THIS, MY VEHICLE'S REAR END WAS REPLACED, AND WILL NEED TO BE REPAIRED AGAIN. *JB

THE SOUND I HEARD I THOUGHT WAS SOMEONE SHOOTING OUT MY DRIVERS SIDE POWER WINDOW WHEN IT TURNS OUT IT JUST FELL INTO THE DOOR BECAUSE OF A FAULTY POWER WINDOW REGULATOR. NOW IT WILL COST ME NEARLY $400 TO REPLACE WHEN IT IS JUST A PLASTIC CLIP. TURNS OUT THAT THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH FORD TRUCKS AND AM SHOCKED THAT THIS HAS NOT BEEN RECALLED BY THE NHTSA SINCE THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE AS THE DOORS AND WINDOWS, AS WELL AS THE SEATBELTS, ARE WHAT KEEPS THE DRIVER AND OR PASSENGERS IN THE VEHICLE...I AM EXTREMELY UPSET NOT AT THE REPAIR COST BUT THAT MY SAFETY IS BEING COMPROMISED AT FORD MOTOR COMPANY'S EXPENSE WITH NOTHING BEING DONE ABOUT IT. I HAVE A SUPER CREW 4X4 W/ 3.73 LTD SLIP REAR. IM HAVING THE SAME PROBLEMS MANY OF US HAVE EXPERIENCED WITH THE STEERING WHEEL VIBRATION "NIBBLE" AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS AND THE REAR END SHUDDERS FROM A STANDSTILL UPON ACCELERATION OR WHILE MAKING TURNS. I BROUGHT THE TRUCK IN THIS WEEK AND THE SERVICE WRITER HAD THE SERVICE MANAGER TAKE A TEST DRIVE WITH ME SO I COULD SHOW HIM WHAT I WAS TALKING ABOUT. HE FELT THE EXACT SAME THINGS I DID, ACKNOWLEDGED THE VIBRATION AND THE SLIPPING "SHUDDERING" REAR END FEELING. THE DEALERSHIP HAS BEEN TRYING DIFFERENT SETS OF WHEELS AND TIRES ON MY TRUCK BUT PROBLEM STILL EXISTS. AS FOR THE REAR END PROBLEMS, THEY HAVE YET TO COME UP WITH A SOLUTION TO FIX THE PROBLEM; NO ATTEMPT HAS BEEN MADE TO TRY TO FIX IT. I AM NOT ALONE WITH THESE PROBLEMS. *AK
VEHICLE 2004 F150 5.4L TRITON PROBLEM: YOU CANNOT SERVICE THE SPARK PLUGS WITHOUT BREAKING THEM OFF IN THE HEAD. EVEN WHEN USING FORD WRITTEN TSB, SPARK PLUGS WILL BREAK OFF LEAVING GROUND SHIELD IN CYLINDER HEAD. PER FORD'S OWNERS MANUAL SPARK PLUGS SHOULD BE REPLACED AT THE 100,000 MILE MARK. I REPLACED MINE AT 35,000 AND BROKEN ONE OFF IN THE CYLINDER HEAD. I USED THE FORD ISSUED TSB TO EXTRACT THEM AND WAS STILL NOT SUCCESSFULLY. THIS ISSUE WILL ONLY GROW IN MAGNITUDE AS MORE PEOPLE BECOME AWARE AND MORE VEHICLES START TO APPROACH THE 100,000 MILE MARK. THIS ISSUE IS BEGIN WELL DOCUMENTED AT THE FORD DEALERS AND FORD HAS ALSO ACKNOWLEDGED BY WRITING A TSB FOR THIS FAILURE MODE. I ASK THAT NHTSA GET INVOLVED AND FORCE FORD TO DESIGN A SPARK PLUG THAT IS CAPABLE OF BEGIN EXTRACTED AT ANY MILEAGE INTERVAL WITHOUT THE THREAT OF THEM BREAKING OFF. THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME. *JB
A VIBRATION IS LEFT IN THE STEERING AS WELL AS THE FLOORBOARD OF THE VEHICLE FROM 30 TO 65 MPH. THE VIBRATION IS WORST AROUND 38 AND 58 MPH. VIBRATION IS MOST PROMINENT BUT NOT LIMITED TO ACCELERATION.*AK
DRIVER'S WINDSHIELD WIPER LEAVES 6" BLIND SPOT UNCLEARED/UNWIPED IN LINE OF SIGHT ALONG DRIVER'S WINDSHIELD PILLAR. ALMOST HIT PEDESTRIAN AS A RESULT OF NOT BEING ABLE TO SEE. ALSO PULLED OUT AT INTERSECTION IN FRONT OF ANOTHER CAR BECAUSE UNABLE TO SEE. DEALER CAN NOT FIX BECAUSE THE WIPER IS "KEYED" TO THAT POSITION ONLY. FORD HAS BEEN UNWILLING TO RESOLVE ISSUE. ON JUNE 11TH 2007, I DROVE MY 2004 FORD F150 PICKUP TRUCK 12 MILES TO DROP MY DAD OFF AT HIS HOUSE. I CAME STRAIGHT HOME. I PARKED THE TRUCK IN FRONT OF MY HOME AT 5:00PM THAT EVENING. IT STAYED PARKED FOR THE NIGHT. AT 3:20 AM ON JUNE 12, 2007 MY 2004 FORD F150 FULL SIZE PICKUP TRUCK BURST INTO FLAMES. IT BURNED SO HOT THAT THE FIREMEN HAD A HARD TIME PUTTING IT OUT. THE POLICE CHECKED A CAMERA THAT POINTS DOWN MY STREET AND IT DID NOT SHOW ANYBODY DOING ANYTHING TO THE TRUCK. IT JUST SPONTANEOUS COMBUSTION. THERE WERE NO MODIFICATIONS MADE TO THE TRUCK, AND ALL MAINTENANCE WAS PERFORMED IN A TIMELY FASHION. I ALSO HAVE PICTURES OF THE TRUCK IF NEEDED. *TR

WHILE COMING TO A STOP SIGN I NOTICED THE STEERING WHEEL STARTING TO SHAKE. IT PROGRESSIVELY, BECAME WORSE SO I TOOK IT IN TO MY LOCAL FORD DEALER. THE FIRST TIME THEY SAID THEY FOUND NOTHING, THEN AS IT GOT WORSE THEY FOUND THE ROTORS WARPED. THEY REPLACED THE ROTORS AND PADS. ABOUT 4-5 MONTHS WENT BY AND I NOTICED THE STEERING WHEEL STARTING TO SHAKE AGAIN. I BROUGHT IT TO A DIFFERENT DEALER, KEARNY MESA FORD AND THE FOUND THE ROTORS WARPED AGAIN. THIS TIME THEY WANTED TO MACHINE THE ROTORS, INSTEAD OF REPLACING THEM. I PUSHED THEM INTO REPLACING THE ROTORS AND PADS AGAIN. THIS TOOK A DAY OR SO TO GET THEM TO DO THIS. ONCE AGAIN, 4-5 MONTHS DOWN THE ROAD, THE STEERING WHEEL STARTED TO SHAKE. THIS TIME ENCINITAS FORD SAID THAT FORD WOULD NOT REPLACE ANYTHING REGARDING THE BRAKES. I INFORMED THEM OF ALL THE OTHER COMPLAINTS ON THIS SITE AND ONLY THEN DID THEY GET BACK TO ME SAYING THEY WOULD REPLACE THE ROTORS BUT NOT THE PADS. MAGICALLY, THEIR SERVICE DIRECTOR SAID THAT FORD HAD NEWER ROTORS AVAILABLE, BUT THEY FLAT OUT REFUSED TO REPLACE THE PADS. SO AS OF NOW I HAVE NEW ROTORS AND I AM GETTING NEW PADS PUT ON SOMEWHERE ELSE. I WOULD NOT GIVE THEM ANY OF MY MONEY TO REPLACE THE PADS. I WOULD RATHER HAVE ANOTHER MECHANIC DO THE WORK. WE WILL SEE HOW LONG THESE ROTORS LAST!*AK

WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH IN A PARKING LOT THE SUN TEMPORARILY IMPAIRED THE DRIVER'S VISION. THIS CONDITION CAUSED THE DRIVER TO HIT A FENCE HEAD ON. BOTH FRONTAL AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE DRIVER SUSTAINED HEAD AND NECK INJURIES AND WAS TRANSPORTED BY AMBULANCE TO THE HOSPITAL. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER FOR ANALYSIS. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TAKEN TO A BODY SHOP WHERE BOTH MECHANICS DETERMINED THAT THE PROBLEM WAS DUE TO AIR BAG FAILURE. THE AIR BAGS SHOULD HAVE DEPLOYED. *AK THE CLOCK SPRING BUSTED AND FAILED TO RELEASE THE AIR BAGS. THE AIR BAG SENSORS IN THE FRONT FAILED TO DEPLOY THE AIR BAGS. *SC *JB
