I AM THE OWNER OF A 2004 F-150. THIS IS MY FIFTH FORD PRODUCT ON A ROW, TWO OF THEM PURCHASED NEW. RECENTLY THE PASSENGER SIDE REAR WINDOW REGULATOR FAILED, CAUSING THE WINDOW TO SLIDE DOWN INTO THE DOOR. IN DECEMBER. I PURCHASED A REPLACEMENT REGULATOR/MOTOR ASSEMBLY AND JUST FINISHED THE INSTALLATION. WHEN I EXAMINED THE OLD UNIT I FOUND THE OPERATING CABLE INCORRECTLY SPOOLED ONTO THE PRIMARY PULLEY. WHEN THE CABLE OVERLAPPED ITSELF THE END PULLED OUT OF THE LIFTING BLOCK. WHEN I WAS SEARCHING FOR INFORMATION ABOUT THE REPLACEMENT PROCEDURE, I CAME ACROSS NUMEROUS WEBSITES DETAILING COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE FAILURE OF F150 WINDOW REGULATORS. THIS LEADS ME TO BELIEVE THAT THE PROBLEM IS DUE TO A FAULTY DESIGN AND SHOULD BE ADDRESSED BY FORD WITH A REDESIGNED PART AND A RECALL TO REPLACE EXISTING UNITS. TRUCK WAS PARKED IN THE PARKING LOT AT 5:45 AM ON 12/17/2011 AT MY PLACE OF EMPLOYMENT. AT APPROXIMATELY 4 PM SEVERAL EMPLOYEES AND I HEARD WHAT WE THOUGHT WAS SOMEONE'S ALARM GOING OFF. THEY WENT TO PARKING LOT TO SEE WHAT WAS GOING ON AND SAW FLAMES INSIDE MY TRUCK AROUND THE DASHBOARD ON THE DRIVERS SIDE. THE NOISE WAS ACTUALLY THE HORN BLOWING. WE DID NOT ATTEMPT TO OPEN THE DOOR, WE CALLED THE FIRE DEPARTMENT. UPON ARRIVAL THEY PUT THE FIRE OUT. THE TRUCK HAD BEEN PARKED ALL DAY & I NEVER ENTERED IT AFTER I ARRIVED AT WORK. THE TRUCK IS DESTROYED. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR SERVICE AND A TUNE-UP. SIX OF THE EIGHT SPARK PLUGS THAT WERE BEING REPLACED FRACTURED DURING THE REPAIR. THE DEALER INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE FAILURE WAS COMMON IN THE PARTICULAR MODEL BECAUSE THE MANUFACTURER RECOMMENDED THAT THE SPARKS PLUG BE REPLACED EVERY 100,000 MILES BUT THE DEALER STATED THAT SPARK PLUGS SHOULD NEVER BE IN A VEHICLE FOR THAT LONG OF A PERIOD BEFORE BEING REPLACED. THE FAILURE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 96,000. DROP IN SPEED CAUSED BY ENGINE FAILURE CAUSED BY CAM PHASER OR VCT VALVE. WAS IN RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC AT THE TIME. *TR
THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER WINDOW REGULATOR FAILURE DRIVERSIDE WINDOW CAME CRASHING DOWN WHEN I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY ON 12/01/11 ALL I HEARD WAS A LOUD POP THEN NO WINDOW ALMOST WRECKED CAUSE OF THE SOUND THEN A WEEK LATER THE PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW DID THE SAME THING BUT AFTER I TRIED TO PUT THE WINDOW UP AFTER I GOT BACK HOME THE DEALER STATES THAT THERE STILL ARE NO RECALLS ON THIS ISSUE AFTER ALL THE COMPLAINTS I READ ONLINE THAT GOES BACK 5YRS WHY ISN'T NO ONE DOING ANYTHING ABOUT THIS PROBLEM. *TR
LETTER FROM CONGRESSMAN GIBBS ON BEHALF OF CONSTITUENT RE A 2011 VOLUNTARY SAFETY RECALL NOTICE FROM WEBASTO TO NORTH AMERICA, INC FOR VEHICLE SUNROOF GLASS PANELS *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED WHEN HE PURCHASED THE VEHICLE, THE SUNROOF DID NOT OPEN. THE CONSUMER THEN RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE IN THE MAIL, REGARDING PROBLEMS WITH THE SUNROOF. WHEN THE CONSUMER CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURER, HE WAS INFORMED THE SUNROOF WOULD BE REPLACED FREE OF CHARGE EVEN IF IT DIDN'T OPEN. THE PARTS WERE SHIPPED TO AN AUTHORIZED COMPANY TO PERFORM THE REPAIRS. HOWEVER, WHEN THE CONSUMER CALLED TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT, HE WAS TOLD HE WOULD HAVE TO PAY TO HAVE THE SUNROOF OPENED. WHEN THE CONSUMER CALLED THE MANUFACTURER AGAIN, THEY STATED HE WOULD HAVE TO PAY TO GET THE SUNROOF OPENED, AND THEY WOULD PAY FOR THE PARTS TO BE INSTALLED. *JB
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS HAVING UNRELATED REPAIRS PERFORMED BY AN AUTHORIZED DEALER, WHEN THE DEALER STATED THAT THE FRONT END COULD NOT BE ALIGNED PROPERLY BECAUSE THE BALL JOINTS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 24,500. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
THERE WAS A "POP" SOUND, FOLLOWED BY THE WINDOW CRASHING DOWN INTO THE DOOR. UPON INSPECTION THE POINT OF FAILURE IS A SMALL PULLEY ATTACHED TO THE WINDOW LIFT MOTOR. IT IS WEAKLY DESIGNED WITH HIGH TENSION FOCUSED AT 3 STRESS POINTS INSTEAD OF DISTRIBUTED ABOUT THE WHOLE PULLEY. I BELIEVE THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM, AND CAN STARTLE A DRIVER CAUSING AN ACCIDENT, FURTHERMORE, AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS THE WINDOW COULD HAVE FALLEN INTO OR OUT OF THE TRUCK CAUSING INJURY. *TR
I JUST HAD TO PAY MY FORD DEALERSHIP $1,270.00 TO REPLACE THE "SPARK PLUGS" ON MY 2004 F-150,THE FORD MOTOR COMPANY STATES THAT THEY HAVE AN ISSUE WITH THE SPARK PLUGS IN THEIR TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN 08-7-6 IN FORD F-150 TRUCKS, FORD MUSTANGS, FORD EXPLORERS, FORD EXPEDITIONS, LINCOLN NAVIGATOR,LINCOLN MARK LTS, AND MERCURY MOUNTAINEERS MODEL YEARS 2004-2008. THE PLUGS WILL BREAK OR SNAP DURING THE REMOVAL PROCESS IN TURN THE OWNER IS EXPECTED TO EAT THE COST OF THEIR LABOR AND MATERIAL TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. THE OWNERS MANUALS STATE THAT THE PLUGS WILL LAST FOR 100,000 MILES BEFORE REPLACEMENT, I SPOKE TO THE RELATIONS DEPARTMENT WITH THE FORD MOTOR COMPANY AND THEY STATE THAT THEY KNOW THAT THE PROBLEM EXISTS BUT THAT IS ALL THEY WILL SAY. *TR
THIS REPORT IS FOR THE SECOND FAILED WINDOW REGULATOR FOR MY 2004 FORD F-150 FX4 DRIVER SIDE. THESE REPAIRS ARE COSTLY AND HIGHLY REPORTED. THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD ESPECIALLY IF THIS WOULD HAVE OCCURRED WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION A THE TIME OF FAILURE. SURPRISING LITTLE ACTION HAS BEEN TAKEN ON THIS ISSUE... *TR
WHEN I TURN LEFT OR RIGHT I CAN FEEL A SHAKE OR VIBRATION COMING FROM THE REAREND. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 50 MPH WHEN HE HIT A DEER AND THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE CONTACT WAS INJURED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AIR BAG LIGHT ILLUMINATED AFTER THE CRASH, BUT THE AIR BAGS NEVER DEPLOYED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALER TO BE REPAIRED. THE DEALER ADVISED THAT WHEN THE DEER PENETRATED THE FRONT GRILL, IT DAMAGED THE AIR BAG SENSOR AND PREVENTED IT FROM DEPLOYING. THE FAILURE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 66,000. UPDATED 01/04/12*BF
THIS IS THE SECOND REPORT I HAVE FILED WITH NHTSA FOR THE SAME COMPLAINT BUT ADDITIONAL OCCURRENCE. WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT 1000 AT NIGHT AND TRAVELING 55 MPH, THERE WAS A LOUD BANG THAT SOUNDED LIKE THE TRUCK HAD BEEN SHOT, FOLLOWED IMMEDIATELY BY THE PASSENGER FRONT WINDOW DROPPING INTO THE DOOR. THE SOUND WAS SO STARTLING THAT IT ALMOST CAUSED A LOSS OF CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. FORD KNOWS THAT THEY HAVE A DEFECT WITH THEIR WINDOW REGULATORS; HOWEVER, THEY REFUSE TO RECALL EVEN THOUGH IT IS A DEFINITE SAFETY CONCERN. THIS IS THE THIRD WINDOW I HAVE HAD FAIL IN THE EXACT MANNER ON MY 2004 F-150. A CASUAL SEARCH ON THE INTERNET CONFIRMS THAT FORD HAS HAD THOUSANDS OF COMPLAINTS FOR THIS EXACT DEFAULT AND IS REFUSING TO MAKE A REPAIR OR RECALL TO ADDRESS A KNOWN SAFETY ISSUE. NHTSA NEEDS TO TAKE ACTION ON THIS AND FORCE FORD TO DO WHAT A RESPONSIBLE AUTOMAKER SHOULD UNDERTAKE ON THEIR OWN IN ORDER TO PROTECT THE MOTORING PUBLIC. *TR
ON THE HIGHWAY, AS I HIT 40 MPH, THE ENGINE DIDN'T UPSHIFT AND DISENGAGED WITH THE DRIVETRAIN. WHEN I PRESSED THE ACCELERATOR, THE ENGINE REVVED, BUT THERE WAS NO POWER TO THE WHEELS. AFTER A COUPLE OF FAILED ATTEMPTS OF SHIFTING TO NEUTRAL AND BACK INTO DRIVE (WHILE ON THE HIGHWAY), I TURNED THE OVERDRIVE FUNCTION OFF AND THE ENGINE ENGAGED WITH THE DRIVETRAIN AGAIN. I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE HOME SAFELY. TODAY, THE SAME PROBLEM IS HAPPENING. I CALLED THE LOCAL FORD DEALER AND THEY CAN'T GET ME INTO THE SHOP FOR A WEEK DUE TO A HIGH VOLUME (THEIR WORDS TO ME) OF TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS. I HAVE FOUND NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ON THE WEB INDICATING THE SAME PROBLEM BY OTHER OWNERS. I'M NOT SURE IF THEY ARE FILING A COMPLAINT, BUT IT APPEARS THAT THIS IS A LARGER ISSUE POTENTIALLY DUE TO POOR QUALITY PARTS IN THE TRANSMISSION. *TR
2004 FORD F-150. CONSUMER STATES AIRBAG INADVERTENTLY DEPLOYED. *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED HE RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE IN MAY 2011 REGARDING INADVERTENT AIR BAG DEPLOYMENT DUE TO A MANUFACTURING DEFECT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR THE RECALL WORK AND WAS RETURNED ON MAY 20, 2011. HOWEVER, ON NOVEMBER 8, 2011 THE AIR BAG INADVERTENTLY DEPLOYED, WHEN ONE OF HIS EMPLOYEES STARTED THE VEHICLE. THE EMPLOYEE SUFFERED A MINOR INJURY TO HER WRIST/HAND. A FORD FIELD ENGINEER INSPECTED THE VEHICLE ON MAY 2, 2012 AND FOUND THAT A WIRING PROBLEM CAUSED THE AIR BAG TO DEPLOY. FORD OFFERED THE CONSUMER $747.00 WHICH HE HAD TO PAY THE DEALER IN ORDER TO FIX THE VEHICLE, BUT ONLY IF THE HE SIGNED A RELEASE. *JB
WHILE DRIVING MY 2004 FORD F150 ON SATURDAY 10/29/2011 I STARTED SMELLING GAS AND THEN THE NUMBER 6 SPARK PLUG BLEW OUT. AFTER FINDING THE PROBLEM BACK HOME THERE WERE 3 OTHER PLUGS LOOSE. *TR
I LEAVE MY WINDOWS UP ON THE TRUCK. IT IS COLD (WINTER TIME) TRUCK WAS IN THE GARAGE. I WENT TO THE GARAGE AND THE WINDOW ON THE PASSENGER SIDE WAS DOWN. I CRANKED THE TRUCK, PUSHED THE BUTTON AND THE WINDOW WOULD NOT COME UP. I TOOK THE TRUCK TO THE DEALER THEY SAID THE FRONT DOOR WINDOW REGULATOR HAD TO BE REPLACED. THIS COST $344.66 TO REPLACE THE REGULATOR. SINCE THE FIRST REPLACEMENT, THE TWO BACK WINDOWS HAVE DONE THE SAME THING. I ASSUME IF MY TRUCK IS HAVING THIS PROBLEM OTHERS ARE ALSO. THIS APPEARS TO BE A DEFECT AND THE COMPANY SHOULD PAY FOR THE REPAIRS. *TR

THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED THAT THERE WAS A SPARK PLUG SHORTAGE AND THAT THE WIRES WOULD NEED REPLACING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED AND THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
2 1/2 YEARS AGO MY HUSBAND PURCHASED A USED 2004 F-150 FX4 WITH THE 5.4 TRITAN ENGINE (WITH A 5 FOR THE 8TH DIGIT IN THE VIN) ALONG WITH A 2 YEAR EXTENDED WARRANTY (THAT COVERED THE ENGINE AMONG OTHER THINGS), FROM A FORD DEALERSHIP. IT HAD JUST UNDER 50,000 MILES. OVER TIME, WE HAD THE SUGGESTED OIL CHANGES, PUT NEW TIRES ON, NEW BATTERY AND HAD THE SPARK PLUGS CHANGED. THE PROBLEM I AM MOST UPSET ABOUT IS THE ??TICKING?? SOUND I HEARD THE DAY MY HUSBAND BROUGHT THE TRUCK HOME. WHEN I ASKED ABOUT IT HE SAID HE ALREADY ASKED THE DEALERSHIP WHAT THE SOUND WAS AND THEY SAID IT WAS JUST HOW ??THIS ENGINE SOUNDS??. IT WAS SUCH A STRANGE SOUND, WE ASKED TWO OTHER FORD DEALERSHIP AND THEY STATED THE SAME THING, BUT THEY NEVER LOOKED INTO IT. ONE MORNING IN OCTOBER, MY HUSBAND WAS DRIVING TO WORK AND THE TRUCK STARTED SHAKING SEVERELY. IT WAS SO BAD HE HAD DIFFICULTY CONTROLLING THE VEHICLE. IF IT WASN'T ON A BACK ROAD, WE KNOW HE WOULD HAVE BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT. WE TOOK IT TO COURT STREET FORD AND THEY SAID THEY HAD TO RUN DIAGNOSTICS ON IT. THEY RECEIVED A CODE OF 340, BUT COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG. THE FORD DEALERSHIP BROUGHT FORD ENGINEERS IN TO HELP IDENTIFY WHAT WAS WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE. PER THE ENGINEERS?? SUGGESTION, THE MECHANIC WOULD ASK FOR PERMISSION TO RUN A TEST. EACH TIME, WE WERE TOLD, THIS TEST WILL TELL US IF IT IS THIS REPAIR OR THAT. AFTER 2 WEEKS AND ALMOST $700 IN TESTS, IMAGINE OUR SURPRISE AT THE FINAL DIAGNOSIS "CATASTROPHIC ENGINE FAILURE" DUE TO CLOGGED OIL PASSAGES. NOW WE FIND THAT THIS PARTICULAR SOUND IS A SYMPTOM FOR THIS ENGINE THAT HAS NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS AND EVEN HAS A TSB FOR IT (06-19-08). THIS TSB REPLACES PARTS THAT WOULD PREVENT THIS PROBLEM, BUT WAS NEVER PART OF A RECALL. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 50 MPH, THE VEHICLE STARTED TO SHAKE VIOLENTLY AS THE TRANSMISSION FAULT WARNING LAMP ILLUMINATED. THE FAILURE WAS RECURRING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 88,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 120,000.
THE POWER WINDOW ON THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE JUST ABRUPTLY STOPPED WORKING AND THE WINDOW FELL DOWN INTO THE DOOR. THIS APPEARS TO BE A PROBLEM WITH THIS VEHICLE THAT HAS NOT BEEN ADDRESSED BY FORD. *TR
WHILE DRIVING IN TRAFFIC MY REAR PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW, FOR NO APPARENT REASON, FELL VIOLENTLY INTO THE DOOR. THIS WAS A VERY DISTRACTING INCIDENT THAT NEARLY RESULTED IN AN ACCIDENT. *TR
THE REAR BRAKE LINES FAILED. THE RUBBER LINE FROM THE CALIPER TO THE STEEL LINE ON THE REAR AXLE SEPARATED, FIRST ON THE DRIVERS SIDE AND ABOUT THREE WEEKS LATER ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. ON THE FIRST OCCASION I WAS JUST LEAVING MY GARAGE AND ON THE SECOND OCCASION I WAS PULLING INTO A PARKING SPOT. THE STEEL FITTING THAT HOLDS THE RUBBER LINE TO THE STEEL LINE WAS SO BADLY CORRODED THAT IT LITERALLY DISINTEGRATED, ALLOWING THE RUBBER LINE TO SEPARATE FROM THE STEEL LINE WHEN THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED. *TR
IMPACT WAS IN THE FRONT CENTER OF THE PICKUP WITH THE DAMAGE 24 INCHES INTO THE ENGINE AREA, THE DRIVER DID HAVE HIS SEAT BELT ON BUT HE STILL HIT THE REAR VIEW MIRROR WITH HIS HEAD AND BROKE HIS LEFT WRIST AND INCURRED MANY OTHER INJURIES AS A RESULT. HIS INJURIES WOULD HAVE BEEN LESSENED IF THE AIRBAG AND THE SEATBELT HAD WORKED THE WAY THERE SUPPOSED TO. *TR
I HAVE HAD 2 OF MY WINDOW REGULATORS GO OUT AND I HAVE BEEN DOING SOME RESEARCH AND FOUND OUT THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM. SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE ABOUT THIS IT CAUSES A SAFETY RISK SINCE I HAVE KIDS AND WHEN THESE WINDOWS SHATTER THE GLASS GETS EVERYWHERE. I HAVE NOTICED THAT THE SAME SLIDER ON BOTH REGULATORS BROKE IN THE SAME PLACE. PLEASE DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS BEFORE SOMEONE'S KID OR MY KIDS GET HURT. THANK YOU *TR *KB
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE GLASS FOR THE FRONT DRIVER AND REAR WINDOWS FELL INTO THE DOOR FRAME ABNORMALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL MECHANIC WHO PERFORMED A DIAGNOSTIC THAT LOCATED THE FAILURE AS THE WINDOW REGULATORS NEEDING REPLACEMENT. THE REGULATORS WERE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 20,354 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 33,800. UPDATED 11/03/11 *BF THE CONSUMER STATED THREE OF THE FIVE POWER WINDOWS FAILED ON THE VEHICLE. THE WINDOW REGULATORS HAD TO BE REPLACED. UPDATED 03/08/12
STARTED MY TRUCK AS USUAL TO GO TO WORK, PUT IT IN REVERSE AND IT WAS LIKE I PUT IT IN NEUTRAL, NO ENGAGEMENT AT ALL. GLAD I WASN'T IN A SITUATION WHEN THIS HAPPENED THAT COULD HAVE PUT MYSELF OR SOMEONE ELSE IN DANGER. FORD KNOWS THEY HAVE A PROBLEM, IT IS WIDE SPREAD. SURE MY TRUCK HAS 124000 MILES ON IT BUT THE TRANSMISSION MALFUNCTION LIGHT HAS BEEN GOING ON AND OFF FOR THE LAST 70000 MILES AND THE DEALER SAID THEY COULD NOT FIND ANY TROUBLE CODES OR MALFUNCTIONS DURING THIS PERIOD. I WAS STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT AND HAD JUST PUT MY FOOT ON THE ACCELERATOR WHEN THERE WAS A LOUD POP AND THE SUDDEN SMELL OF GAS INSIDE THE CAB OF THE TRUCK. WHEN I GOT IT TO THE DEALERSHIP I WAS TOLD THAT THE SPARK PLUG HAD BLOWN OUT OF THE HEAD AND THE COIL PACK WAS DAMAGED. I WAS TOLD THAT THE HEAD THAT FORD DECIDED TO USE ONLY HAD THREE THREADS TO HOLD THE SPARK PLUG IN PLACE AND THAT THE PLUGS SEEMED TO BLOW OUT OF 1997-2004 MODELS. THEY COULD USE A HELICOIL TO REPAIR THE THREADS BUT THEY COULDN'T MAKE ANY GUARANTEES ABOUT THE REPAIR. AFTER I HAD IT REPAIRED I DISCOVERED THOUSANDS OF OTHER COMPLAINTS ON THE INTERNET ABOUT THE SAME ISSUE OF SPARK PLUGS BEING BLOWN OUT OF THE HEADS AND OTHER PEOPLE HAVING TO REPLACE THE HEADS ON THEIR VEHICLES. I SPOKE TO A BUDDY OF MINE IN TOPEKA WHO TOLD ME OF HIS NEIGHBOR WHO JUST BOUGHT A USED 2004 MODEL FORD TRUCK AND HAD AN ENGINE FIRE BECAUSE OF THIS SAME ISSUE. I GOT LUCKY WITH THE COST OF THIS REPAIR BUT BECAUSE OF THE POOR CONSTRUCTION DESIGN OF THIS HEAD, THAT IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN COVERED UNDER A WARRANTY OF COURTESY COVERAGE. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 FORD F-150. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH THE VEHICLE NOTICED THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO HESITATE WHILE ACCELERATING AND A HEARD A KNOCKING NOISE IN THE ENGINE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THE SPARK PLUGS HAD TO BE REPLACED. THE DEALER ATTEMPTED TO REMOVE THE SPARK PLUGS BUT ONE OF THE SPARK PLUGS WAS STUCK IN THE HEAD GASKET AND COULD NOT BE REMOVED; HOWEVER, THE HEAD GASKET WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 95,000.
SPARK PLUGS FAILING. FORD SAY THEY SHOULD BE CHANGED EVEN THOUGH THEY ARE RATED FOR 100,000 MILES. COST STARTS AT $300 AND CAN GO UP TO THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS. THE FAULT IS THAT FORD INSTALLED SPARK PLUGS THAT CAN GAUL OR REACT WITH THE AL BLOCK. THIS MEANS THE PLUGS MIGHT BREAK ON REMOVAL LEAVING PARK OF THE SPARK PLUG IN THE BLOCK. THE BLOCK WOULD THEN NEED TO BE DRILLED OUT TO REMOVE THE REMAINING PART OF THE SPARK PLUG. IT IS ALSO A KNOWN FACT THAT SOME OF THE SPARK PLUGS ARE BLOWING OUT OF THE BLOCK ON THEIR OWN.

WHILE DRIVING IN UP STATE NY, GOING ABOUT 30-35 MPH, MY REAR PASSENGER WINDOW STARTED TO OPEN FOR NO REASON. BY THE TIME I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER THE WINDOW WAS COMPLETELY OPEN AND FELL DOWN INTO THE DOOR. I WAS TRAVELING ON A MAIN BOULEVARD WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN THE DRIVERS SIDE WINDOW SLID DOWN WITH A LOUD SOUNDING BANG. THE WINDOW DID NOT BREAK. HOWEVER, WHAT SEEMS TO BE A SPRING LOADED MECHANISM, MUST HAVE BROKEN CAUSING THE WINDOW TO COLLAPSE DOWN INSIDE THE DOOR. THIS TIME ON THE PASSENGER SIDE DOOR. THE SAME EXACT EXPERIENCE REPEATED EXCEPT THAT THIS TIME I WAS DRIVING AT 75MPH ON I-25. I EXPECTED TO FIND A RECALL TO THIS DIS-FUNCTIONAL MECHANISM.
