TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 FORD F-150 SUPER CREW LARIAT. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 5 MPH WHEN THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE POWER WINDOW FAILED AND FELL INTO THE DOOR PANEL. THE FAILURE REPEATED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS WITH BOTH THE FRONT AND PASSENGER SIDE REAR WINDOWS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED BUT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 108,000.
DURING ACCELERATION THERE IS A SEVERE VIBRATION AND SHAKING. IT ALSO HAPPENS WHEN DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. THE SHAKING IS SO BAD THAT YOU ALMOST LOSE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. *TR
AS I TURNED RIGHT INTO A SIDE STREET ENGINE STALLED. I HAD VERY LITTLE CONTROL OF VEHICLE BUT MANAGED TO STEER IT ONTO LEFT SIDE OF STREET. LUCKY NO CARS COMING. ALSO HAPPENED ON 4 AUG. CHECKED INTERNET AND POSSIBLE CORRODED FUEL PUMP DRIVER MODULE. MANY COMPLAINTS. COULD CAUSE A MAJOR ACCIDENT. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT STARTED TO ILLUMINATE DUE TO THE AIR BAG SENSOR UNDER THE HOOD BEING CORRODED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO ADVISED THAT THE AIR BAG SENOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AT THE CONTACTS EXPENSE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE WHO OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 130,000.
AS I WAS PARKING MY F150 I PUT MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE AND THE CAR BEGAN TO ACCELERATE ON ITS ON. I APPLIED FULL FORCE ON THE BRAKES BUT THE TRUCK CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE. I QUICKLY PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND SHUT IT OFF SO IT WOULD NOT HIT THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME. ABOUT AN HOUR LATER I RESTARTED THE TRUCK AND DROVE HOME FINE. THIS ALSO HAPPENED ONCE ABOUT 3 YEARS AGO, AS I WAS APPROACHING A STOP SIGN. THE GARAGE FOUND NOTHING. *TR
STARTED TO NOTICE SHAKING WHEN TURNING TO RIGHT, THEN LEFT AND AS SOON AS I STARTED TO MOVE FORWARD. THIS IS THE THIRD TIME I HAVE HAD THIS FAILURE AND EACH TIME THE DEALER HAS REPLACED THE REAR END CUTCHES AND ALL BEARINGS IN THE REAR END HOUSING. THE LAST TIME IT TOTALED OVER $900.00 AND 17,000 MILES AFTER IT IS HAPPENING AGAIN. THIS IS APPARANTY A COMMON PROBLEM SINCE THE DEALERS STOCK AL REQUIRED PARTS AND ARE NOT UNAWARE OF THIS FAIURE. I HAVE HAD THIS SAME FAIURE HAPPEN 3 TIMES IN 70,000 MILES AND THE MORE PEOPLE I TALK TO THE MORE I FIND THAT MOST HAVE HAD AT LEAST 1 FAIURE. FORD NEEDS TO STEP UP AND CORRECT A PROBLEM THAT EXISTS YET TODAY IN 2011 MODELS. *TT

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE FUEL PUMP AND FUEL MODULE FAILED. BOTH THE FUEL PUMP AND MODULE WERE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND ADVISED THE CONTACT TO NOTIFY NHTSA. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 58,715. UPDATED 09/21/2011 *LN *TR
COMPLETE ENGINE FAILURE LESS THAN 100,000 MILES. DRIVER AND FRONT PASSENGER WINDOW MOTOR FAILURE.
WHILE DRIVING ON HIGHWAY AT 65 MPH,WITH CHILDREN IN BACK SEAT,WINDOW ON PASSENGER SIDE IN BACK FELL DOWN,ABOUT A WEEK LATER THE OTHER BACK WINDOW DID THE SAME THING .SCARED MY WIFE AND KIDS BECAUSE IT FELL SUDDENLY WITHOUT WARNING. COULD HAVE CAUSED ME TO SWERVE INTO ONCOMING VEHICLE.I REPORTED TO FORD BUT THERE ONLY RESPONSE WAS THEY SENT ME BROCHURES TO BUY A NEW TRUCK[HA HA}.I RESPONDED BY TELLING THEM THAT MY NEXT NEW TRUCK WILL BE CHEVY OR CHRYSLER. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, A LOUD NOISE EMITTED AND THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE WINDOW AS THE GLASS BEGAN TO DROP INTO THE DOOR PANEL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THE WINDOW REGULATOR WAS REPLACED. THE FAILURE ALSO OCCURRED ON BOTH PASSENGERS' SIDE WINDOWS. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BY AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE DEFECT. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 148,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT WAS ATTEMPTING TO CLOSE THE DRIVER SIDE WINDOW WHEN THE WINDOW FAILED AND FELL INTO THE DOOR PANEL. THE WINDOW WAS INOPERABLE AND THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED BY THE DEALER THAT THE PLASTIC REGULATOR HAD CAUSED THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 69,000. WINDOW REGULATOR ON 2004 F 150 LARIAT DRIVERS DOOR BROKE ALLOWING THE WINDOW TO DROP SCARING ME SO BAD THAT I WENT OFF THE ROAD JUST MISSING CRASHING INTO SEVERAL TREES. IT SOUNDED LIKE SOMEONE HAD SHOT OUT MY WINDOW, WHILE I WAS DRIVING IN A THUNDER STORM. THE ROADS WERE WET, BUT THERE WAS KNOW WARNING WHEN THE WINDOWBROKE, THEN I WAS GETTING HIT IN THE FACE WITH RAIN IT FELT LIKE GLASS HITTING ME IN THE FACE. THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL BY FORD, I HAVE RESEARCH THIS PROBLEM AND HAVE FOUND IT TO BE MASSIVE IN NUMBERS WITH A BIG EXPENSE TO FORD CUSTOMERS. THIS MANY CASES SEEMS MORE THAN JUST A FLUKE INCIDENT. THIS SHOULD BE LOOKED INTO, I'M SO LUCKY TO BE HERE NOW I JUST MISSED THOSE TREES AND MY WIFE IS NOW SCARED THAT IT MAY HAPPEN TO ONE OF MY OTHER REMAINING WINDOWS AND DOES NOT WANT TO RIDE WITH ME ANYMORE.. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 10 MPH THE REAR DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE WINDOWS FELL INSIDE THE DOOR. THE REGULATOR WAS FAULTY AND CAUSED THE WINDOW TO FALL OFF TRACK. THE CONTACT DID NOT TAKE THE VEHICLE TO A MECHANIC OR DEALER FOR A DIAGNOSTIC TEST. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER WHO STATED THEY WOULD DO SOME RESEARCH ON THE WINDOW REGULATOR FOR THAT YEAR, MAKE, AND MODEL VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED THE VEHICLE WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 FORD F150. WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO SHAKE EXCESSIVELY AND HE WAS UNABLE TO CONTINUE TO DRIVE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHERE THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED. THE DEALER INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE TIMING BELT TENSION WAS FRACTURED AND THAT HE NEEDED TO REPLACE THE ENGINE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 114,000.
TWO OF THE FOUR WINDOW REGULATORS HAVE BROKE CAUSING SAFETY AND SECURITY ISSUES. THE PARTS ARE EXPENSIVE AND DEFECTIVE. THE LAST MALFUNCTION OCCUED WHEN I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND THE PASSENGER WINDOW FELL WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED. I HEARD A POPPING NOISE LIKE SOMEBODY THREW SOMETHING AT THE TRUCK AND THEN THE WINDOW FELL INTO THE DOOR. MY WIFE AND I HAVE TWO YOUNG CHILDREN AND THIS POSES A LARGE SAFETY RISK TO THEM. THESE PARTS ARE OBVIOUSLY DEFECTIVE AND SHOULD BE REPLACED BY FORD MOTOR COMPANY.

THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 11V107000 (AIR BAGS:FRONTAL:DRIVER SIDE INFLATOR MODULE) AND THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR RECALL REPAIRS. AFTER THE REPAIRS, THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSIS WHERE THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED THAT THE DRIVER SIDE AIR BAG WOULD NOT DEPLOY IF THE VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A CRASH. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER WHERE THE DEALER ADVISED THAT THE RESTRAINT CONTROL MODULE WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AIR BAG DID NOT EXHIBIT ANY FAILURE BEFORE THE RECALL REPAIRS. THE DEALER REFUSED ANY FURTHER SERVICE TO THE VEHICLE UNDER THE RECALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 85,989.
THE WINDOW STARTED MAKING NOISE WHILE ROLLING UP AND DOWN AND SEEMED LIKE IT WAS COMING OFF THE TRACK.. WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD THE WINDOW FELL COMPLETELY IN THE DOOR. WE REPLACED THE WINDOW REGULATOR AND SEEMS TO WORK FINE, UNTIL 3 MONTHS LATER ANOTHER WINDOW DID THE SAME THING. I CANNOT AFFORD TO KEEP REPLACING THE SAME PART ON MY TRUCK WHEN THERE ARE OBVIOUSLY DEFECTS IN THE PARTS. I SEE MANY OTHER FORD OWNERS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM AND THINK THAT SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE! GOD FORBID THE WINDOW SHATTER WHILE MY CHILDREN ARE IN THE TRUCK. *TR
I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE USED FROM MY BROTHER IN LAW WHEN IT WAS 2 OR 3 YEARS OLD. ALL MAINTENANCE HAS BEEN DONE TIMELY. THE 5.4 TRITON ENGINE STARTED RUNNING VERY ROUGH. I IMMEDIATELY WENT TO MY MECHANICS SHOP. IT WAS LATE SO HE GAVE ME A RIDE HOME. ON THE FOLLOWING MONDAY HE CALLED TO SAY THAT HE RAN A SCOPE AND FOUND THAT THE PISTON WAS GONE AND IT WOULD NOT BE COST EFFECTIVE TO REPAIR. HE LOOKED AT BUYING A USED ENGINE FROM REPUTABLE DEALERS WHO SPECIALIZE IN USED ENGINES ONLY TO BE TOLD THAT THEY WON'T BUY THAT PARTICULAR ENGINE BECAUSE THEIR DEFECTIVE AND THEY'VE YET TO SEE A GOOD ONE. I'VE BEEN WAITING IN THE HOPES OF BUYING A USED WRECK WITH LOW MILEAGE. A REBUILT ENGINE RUNS $5,905.00 INSTALLED WITH A 3 YEAR 100K WARRANTY. IN MY CONVERSATION WITH JASPER THE WOMAN IMMEDIATELY TOLD ME THAT THIS ENGINE WAS REBUILT WITH THE UPGRADES TO THE WEAK TIMING CHAIN PROBLEM THAT FORD HAD DESIGNED INTO THE ENGINE. I CALLED FORD AND OF COURSE THIS WAS THE FIRST THEY HAD EVER HEARD OF SUCH A PROBLEM. MY MECHANIC SAYS THAT YEAR TRUCK AND ENGINE ARE "DROPPING LIKE FLIES". HE HAD ONE IN IS LOT ALREADY AND SAW AN ADD IN THE LOCAL PAPER OF AN 04 F-150 FOR SALE WITH BLOWN MOTOR. HE THOUGHT IT WAS ME BUT SOMEONE ELSE HAS THE SAME TRUCK AND PROBLEM. I DON'T KNOW IF THIS IS THE RIGHT PLACE TO DISCUSS THIS ISSUE BUT I WAS WONDERING IF YOU HAVE HEARD OF ANYONE ELSE WITH THIS PROBLEM? IF SO, HOW MANY AND WHAT DOES IT TAKE TO FORCE A COMPANY TO REMEDY A PROBLEMS THEY CREATED? MY MAINTENANCE OF MY VEHICLES IS SECOND TO NONE. THE 97 CHEVY TRUCK I'M CURRENTLY DRIVING WAS PURCHASED NEW BUY ME IN MAY OF 97. I JUST TURNED 358K MILES YESTERDAY AND IT'S THE SAME ENGINE WITH NO MAJOR REPAIRS. I'VE NEVER GOTTEN LESS THAN 250K OUT OF A VEHICLE BECAUSE OF MY MAINTENANCE.

THE DEALER ADVISED THAT DUE TO THE TSUNAMI IN JAPAN, THE RECALL REPAIRS WERE HALTED AND COULD NOT PROVIDE AN ESTIMATE TIME IN WHICH THE RECALL WOULD PERSIST. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED UNDER RECALL. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
IN JUNE 2011, RIGHT PASSENGER WINDOW DROPPED INTO THE DOOR. HAD TO REPLACE WINDOW REGULATOR ASSEMBLY. THE SAME HAPPENED IN THE LEFT PASSENGER WINDOW IN OCTOBER 2011, AND THAT WINDOW REGULATOR HAD TO BE REPLACED. TOLD BY THE DEALER THAT THIS IS COMMON. *TR
WHILE I WAS DRIVING, THE REAR DRIVERS SIDE WINDOW MADE A LOUD POP AND THE WINDOW JUST FELL DOWN. THE WINDOW WILL NOT GO BACK UP. IT IS STUCK DOWN. I COULD NOT FIND ANY RECALL ON THE WINDOW BUT GOOGLED AND FOUND THAT IS A PROBLEM FOR A LOT OF FORD F150 OWNERS. *TR
AFTER A PROFESSIONAL BASEBALL GAME.. I WALKED BACK TO MY TRUCK IN A HUGE PARKING LOT TO FIND MY RIGHT REAR WINDOW DOWN. MY FIRST THOUGHT WAS MY TRUCK WAS BROKEN IN TO.. BUT AFTER LOOKING AROUND, I FIND THAT MY WINDOW REGULATOR BROKE "AGAIN"!! THIS IS THE THIRD WINDOW THAT HAS DONE THIS!! I NEVER EVEN ROLL THE BACK WINDOW DOWN SO IT CANT BE FROM ABUSING THE HARDWARE.. FORD NEEDS TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS SOO!! TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THE BOLT IN THE STEERING BOX WAS BROKEN AND CAUSED THE STEERING WHEEL TO BECOME VERY TIGHT. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE BACK TO HIS HOME THEN TO THE DEALER WHO CONFIRMED ONE OF THE BOLTS IN THE STEERING BOX WERE BROKEN. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 66,000.
THE LEFT REAR WINDOW, RIGHT REAR WINDOW, RIGHT FRONT WINDOW ABRUPTLY DROPPED INTO THE DOOR CAVITY. THE SERVICE CENTER AT THE FORD DEALER INFORMED ME THAT THE CAUSE OF THE MALFUNCTION IS FAILURE OF THE WINDOW REGULATORS ON ALL THREE DOORS. ACCORDING TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP SERVICE CENTER AND MY OWN INVESTIGATION IT APPEARS THAT THE WINDOW REGULATORS ON THE 2004 FORD F1 50 PICKUP TRUCKS ARE DEFECTIVE. FORD MOTOR COMPANY ACKNOWLEDGES THAT THE WINDOW REGULATORS ON THE 2004 F150 PICKUP TRUCK ARE INDEED DEFECTIVE BUT THEY ARE UNWILLING TO RECALL AND REPLACE THE DEFECTIVE PART UNLESS YOUR ORGANIZATION ORDERS THE RECALL. SEARCHING THE INTERNET I HAVE COME ACROSS SCORES OF OTHER FORD OWNERS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. THERE HAVE BEEN NUMEROUS REQUESTS FOR FORD MOTOR COMPANY TO RECALL THESE VEHICLES AND REPLACE THE DEFECTIVE WINDOW REGULATORS. ALTHOUGH FORD MOTOR COMPANY DOES NOT FEEL THAT THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE WE FORD OWNERS DO FEEL THAT IT IS. DRIVING AT 65 TO 70 MILES AN HOUR AND THREE WINDOWS ABRUPTLY DROP INTO THE CAVITY OF THE DOOR IT COULD AND PROBABLY AS BEEN THE CAUSE OF ACCIDENTS. WE URGE YOU TO PETITION FORD MOTOR COMPANY TO RECALL THE 2004 THROUGH 2006 FORD F1 50 PICKUP TRUCK AND REPLACE THE MANUFACTURERS DEFECTIVE WINDOW REGULATORS.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE DEFECT. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.

THE CONTACT WAS THROWN INTO THE STEERING WHEEL AND SUSTAINED A FRACTURED DISC IN HIS BACK. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED BUT CAUGHT ON FIRE WHILE IN TOW. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED IN REGARDS TO THE FAILURE BUT ADVISED THAT THEY WERE UNABLE TO ASSIST. A POLICE REPORT WAS AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 135,000.
THERE ARE OVER 450 COMPLAINTS LISTED HERE IS MINE I OWN A 2004 FORD F150 AND HAVE HAD 3 WINDOW REGULATOR FAILURES, 2 WHILE DRIVING. THE DANGEROUS ONE WAS ON THE DRIVERS SIDE AT NIGHT DURING A RAIN STORM. FORD DEALER STATES HE REPLACES 1-2 A WEEK BUT IS NOT YET A RECALL. HE SAYS IT WONT GET A RECALL UNTIL SOMEONE DIES. I THINK IT IS A KNOWN DANGEROUS PROBLEM THAT FORD NEEDS TO TAKE CARE OF BUT WONT UNTIL A RECALL IS MANDATORY. PLEASE RECALL THIS PROBLEM BEFORE "SOMEONE DIES" AND "ONLY THEN" MANDATES A RECALL. I OWN A 2004 FORD F-150 TRUCK. 3 WEEKS AGO, I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE #11S18 FROM FORD MOTOR CO,EXPLAINING THAT A DEFECT WITH THE WIRING HARNESS COULD CAUSE THE DRIVER'S SIDE AIRBAG TO SPONTANEOUS INFLATE WHILE DRIVING. I CALLED THE DEALER, SHEEHY FORD OF WARRENTON, VA. TO SCHEDULE SERVICE TO ADDRESS THE HAZARD, BUT THEY SAID FORD "HAD UNDERESTIMATED DEMAND ON THE RECALL" AND THEY DIDN'T HAVE "THE NECCESSARY PARTS" TO FIX MY VEHICLE, AND TO CALL BACK "IN A COUPLE OF DAYS." THAT'S BEEN THEIR RESPONSE NOW FOR 3 WEEKS. THE LETTER FROM FORD STRESSES THE POTENTIAL DANGER OF MY VEHICLE'S DEFECT, BUT THE DEALER IS SUGGESTING FORD SENT OUT LETTERS AND ALERTED PEOPLE TO THE PROBLEM WITHOUT PRODUCING ENOUGH REPLACEMENT PARTS TO FIX IT. THE SITUATION IS NOT BEING HANDLED PROPERLY. 3 WEEKS AFTER RECEIVING A RECALL LETTER, MY DEALER HAS YET TO ACT, AND NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE TO ADDRESS THE PROBLEM. *TR
SECOND POWER WINDOW REGULATOR HAS FAILED NOW IN THE LAST TWO WEEKS. IN BOTH CASES, THE WINDOW SUDDENLY DROPPED COMPLETELY WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 FORD F150. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH, THE CONTACT HEARD A KNOCKING NOISE COMING FROM THE ENGINE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND THE DEALER WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VARIABLE TIME CAM PHASER TENSIONER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND A REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 115,428.

THIS IS IN RELATION TO AN EXISTING RECALL NOTICE FOR 11S18. I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO GET THIS FIXED SINCE I GOT THE RECALL NOTICE MAY 9. I HAVE CALLED FRIENDLY FORD SPRINGFIELD MO EVERY TUESDAY AND AM TOLD THEY DO NOT HAVE THE PART TO FIX IT. THE LAST TIME I WAS TOLD TO TAKE IT TO ANOTHER DEALER FARTHER AWAY BECAUSE THEY HAVE IT. THEY ALSO TOLD ME TO CALL THE FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE NUMBER WHICH I DID AND GOT A RECORDING SAYING IT WAS TEMPORARILY UNAVAILABLE. WHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO DO AT THIS POINT TO GET THIS FIXED BEFORE A MORE SERIOUS SITUATION ARISES. FORD AND FRIENDLY FORD DOESN'T SEEM TO WANT TO FIX IT REGARDLESS OF WHAT YOU SAY!
S10 APPROPRIATE HANDLING- LETTER FROM DOJ FORWARDING A LETTER FROM RE HIS 2004 FORD F-150 *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED THE DEALER BOTCHED THE SPARK PLUGS REPLACEMENT, AND NOW THE COST TO REPLACE ALL EIGHT SPARK PLUGS IS $2200 WHEN HE WAS ORIGINALLY QUOTED A PRICE OF $335. *JB THE DEALER INFORMED THE CONSUMER THE SPARK PLUGS WERE DIFFICULT TO REPLACE AND NEEDED EXTRA CARE AND A SPECIAL SOLVENT. THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL IS MAKING A CHATTERING NOISE AT LOW SPEEDS. IT HAS A POSI-TRAC REAR DIFFERENTIAL, AND I CAN FEEL A 'STOP AND GO' TYPE ACTION AS I AM DRIVING IN A STRAIGHT LINE AT LOW SPEEDS. EVEN AFTER I ADDED A LIMITED SLIP ADDITIVE, THE PROBLEM IS STILL THERE. IT TENDS TO BE WORSE AFTER A COLD START, AND WHEN I AM GOING UP HILLS OF AFTER I GO OVER A SPEED BUMP. *TT
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DRIVER'S DOOR WINDOW FELL INTO THE DOOR FRAME AS THE DOOR WAS BEING CLOSED. THE PASSENGER'S SIDE WINDOW ALSO FAILED SEVERAL YEARS PRIOR. THE CONTACT INSPECTED THE WINDOWS AND FOUND THAT THE WINDOW REGULATORS FAILED DUE TO DEFECTIVE METAL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND DENIED ANY ASSISTANCE WITH THE REPAIR. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 137,000.
WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY MY DRIVERSIDE WINDOW CAME CRASHING DOWN CAUSING ME TO FISHTAIL INTO THE RIGHT LANE CAUSING OTHER CARS TO SLAM ON THEIR BRAKES LUCKILY NO ONE WAS HURT. WHEN I CALLED FORD AND SOME OTHER MECHANICS THEY SAID ALLOT OF PEOPLE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM AND ITS PROBABLY GOING TO HAPPEN AGAIN TO THE OTHER WINDOW. 2004 FORD F150 SUPERCREW STARTS SHAKING HORRIBLY AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS WHEN PULLING A TRAVEL TRAILER. IT DOESN'T MATTER IF YOU SLOW DOWN, SPEED UP, OR TAKE OUT OF GEAR THE ONLY WAY TO MAKE IT QUIT IS TO COME TO A COMPLETE STOP. THIS HAS HAPPENED 3 TIMES TO ME SO FAR AND IT FEELS AS IF ALL THE WHEELS ARE ABOUT TO FALL OFF. I CALLED MY DEALER AND THEY SAID THAT THEY HAVEN'T HEARD OF THIS PROBLEM, BUT IF YOU DO A SEARCH ON IT THERE IS A LOT OF PEOPLE CONCERNED OF THIS DANGEROUS ISSUE. THE POLICE AND FIRE DEPARTMENT WERE CALLED AND A REPORT WAS FILED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED NOR WAS THE VEHICLE INSPECTED BY A DEALER FOR THE CAUSE OF FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 214,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
AFTER STARTING THE TRUCK, AND HAVING SEEMINGLY NORMAL OPERATION. IT STARTED TO RUN ROUGH AND HAD A MARKED LOSS OF POWER. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT DID NOT INITIALLY ILLUMINATE, GIVING NO INDICATION OF A SERIOUS PROBLEM. THINKING THIS WAS A TEMPORARY PROBLEM, WE CONTINUED HOME. THE NEXT DAY MY WIFE TOOK THE TRUCK ON HER NORMAL DAILY ROUTINE. SHE NOTIFIED ME LATER THAT THE TRUCK HAD GOTTEN WORSE AND THAT IT WAS VERY ROUGH AND LOW ON POWER, TO THE POINT OF MAKING MERGING VERY DICEY. WE TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS AND THEY FOUND A WIRING HARNESS HAD CHAFED THROUGH DUE TO A RIDING CONDITION ON AN AIR CONDITIONING LINE. THIS AFFECTED COIL NUMBER 4. THE DEALER REPAIRED THE CHAFED WIRE AND RETURNED THE CAR TO SERVICE. THE IRONIC THING(OR DISAPPOINTING, DEPENDING ON YOUR PERSPECTIVE) WAS THAT WE HAD THE CAR IN FOR A RECALL CAMPAIGN FOR A CHAFING WIRE IN THE AIRBAG SYSTEM. *TR
THE PARKING BRAKE ON OUR 2004 F-150 FROZE IN THE 'ON' POSITION. THIS WASN'T OBVIOUS UNTIL THE CAR GOT TO ABOUT 45 MPH, WHEN IT WOULD VIBRATE QUITE VIOLENTLY. THE ONLY FIX WAS TO PULL OVER AND WORK THE BRAKE SEVERAL TIMES. THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS IF YOU ARE ACCELERATING TO JOIN TRAFFIC ON A BUSY HIGHWAY! THIS WAS AN INTERMITTENT PROBLEM WHICH WAS REPORTED TO THE DEALER, BUT THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE IT DURING THEIR TESTING. IT TURNS OUT THAT THE PARKING BRAKE EXPANDERS (ACTUATORS) WERE CORRODED TO THE POINT OF ONE OF THEM (DRIVER SIDE) BEING FROZEN. AFTER FINALLY HAVING THE DEALER FIGURE IT OUT, I RESEARCHED THIS PROBLEM ON THE VARIOUS F-150 BULLETIN BOARDS AND FOUND THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM. I ALSO FOUND THAT FORD HAS ISSUED UPDATED PARTS TO CORRECT THE CORROSION PROBLEM. IN OUR CASE, THE DEALER REPLACED THE AFFECTED PARTS WITH THE UPDATED PARTS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 10 MPH WHEN BOTH THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAGS SUDDENLY DEPLOYED. THE CONTACT HAD NO VISUAL, SLAMMED ON HIS BRAKES AND CAUSED ANOTHER VEHICLE TO CRASH INTO THE REAR OF HIS VEHICLE. THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE AND BUMPER WAS DAMAGED. THE POLICE WAS CALLED AND A REPORT WAS FILED. NO ONE WAS INJURED AND THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVABLE. THE DEALER WAS CONTACTED FOR POSSIBLE REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 116,000.
I PURCHASED MY TRUCK SIX MONTHS AGO, AT THE TIME OF PURCHASE I NOTICED A TICKING IN THE ENGINE, AFTER INQUIRING TO THE SALESMAN ABOUT THE ENGINE NOISE HE INFORMED ME THAT HIS SERVICE TECH'S HAD INSPECTED THE PROBLEM AND THERE WASN'T A PROBLEM. THE NOISE HAS PROGRESSIVELY WORSENED SINCE PURCHASE. I WAS AT AN ENGINE RE-BUILDERS PLACE OF BUSINESS WITH A FRIEND AND THE MECHANIC ASKED IF I KNEW WHAT THE TICKING WAS, I REPLIED NO AND HE TOOK ME INTO HIS OFFICE AND PRINTED A TECH BULLETIN (AERA TB2471) THAT ADDRESSED THE CAMSHAFT AND LASH ADJUSTER DESIGN CHANGE FOR FORD 5.4L VIN 5 ENGINES. THESE WERE REDESIGNED IN 2005 TO CORRECT THE TICKING NOISE AND KEEP VALVES FROM DROPPING, WHICH THE MECHANIC INFORMED ME HE HAD 5 VEHICLES IN HIS SHOP DUE TO THIS ISSUE. I WENT TO MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP FOR A RECALL ISSUE (CLOCKSPRING IN AIR BAG) THE SERVICE ADVISOR MENTIONED THE TICKING AS I DROVE UP, I ASKED IF HE KNEW OF THE SERVICE BULLETIN AND SHOWED HIM THE COPY I HAD, HIS COMMENT WAS TO NOT TOW ANYTHING! I CALLED THE SERVICE MANAGER FOR THIS LOCATION AND WAS TOLD TO CONTACT FORD DIRECTLY, WHICH I HAVE AND AM WAITING FOR A RESPONSE. THE MECHANIC I SPOKE WITH SAID THIS IS A COMMON OCCURRENCE WITH THIS ENGINE, LOOK FOR THE NUMBER 5 AS THE EIGHTH DIGIT IN YOUR VIN NUMBER. I FEEL THAT THIS TRUCK HAS BEEN COMPLETELY MISREPRESENTED TO ME DURING AND AFTER PURCHASE AND FEEL LEMON LAWS OR RECALLS SHOULD BE USED OR IN PLACE.

WHEN WE TOOK THE TRUCK IN FOR THE RECALL WORK AT THE NEAREST FORD DEALER SERVICE DEPARTMENT INFORMED US THAT THEY DIDN'T HAVE THE PARTS TO COMPLETE THE RECALL WORK ON OUR TRUCK BECAUSE THE SERVICE REP SAID THAT FORD ONLY SENDS THEM FIVE OF THE HARNESS RECALL PARTS PER DAY AND THEY HAVE BEEN DEALING WITH OVER 30 CALLS PER DAY FOR THIS RECALL WORK AND THEY HAVE NO IDEA WHEN THEY WILL GET THE PART TO COMPLETE THE RECALL WORK ON OUR TRUCK BUT THEY WILL CALL WHEN THEY GET THE PART. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE IN A SAFETY RECALL. *TR

THE DEALERS ADVISED HIM THAT THEY WERE UNABLE TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT BECAUSE THE PARTS WERE ON BACK ORDER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 70,000.
