NO INJURIES INVOLVED. WHILE TRAVELING ALONG A LOCAL HIGHWAY AT APPROX. 45 TO 50 MPH, I EXPERIENCED A BLOW OUT OF THE LEFT REAR TIRE ON A 2005 FORD F150 XLT EXTENDED CAB-SHORTBED PICKUP. UPON INSPECTION OF THE TIRE/RIM BY THE AAA TECHNICIAN, IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE OEM STEEL RIM HAD SPLIT OPEN THUS CAUSING THE "BLOWOUT" . IT WAS FURTHER DETERMINED THAT THE RIM HAD SPLIT NEARLY 2/3 OF THE WAY AROUND THE RIM. THIS IS A STOCK OEM STEEL RIM WITH A CHROME OUTER "CLAD" SURFACE. AS THE TRUCK IS OF HIGH MILEAGE ( I DRIVE NEARLY 4200 MI. MONTH), THE LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP WAS RELUCTANT TO REPLACE IT. I REQUESTED THAT THE RIM BE INSPECTED BY THE REGIONAL FORD REP. THAT HANDLES WARRANTY CLAIMS. THE RIM IS SCHEDULED TO BE INSPECTED ON JUNE 8, 2007 AT WHICH POINT A DECISION SHALL BE RENDERED. NO ACCIDENT WAS INVOLVED, HOWEVER IF THE WHEEL HAD BEEN ON THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE, AND I HAD BEEN TRAVELING AT FREEWAY SPEEDS OF 65 PLUS MILES PER HOUR, THE POTENTIAL WOULD HAVE EXISTED FOR A SERIOUS ACCIDENT AS THE RESULT OF SUDDEN LOSS OF VEHICLE CONTROL.
TRUCK CONTINUES ACCELERATING AFTER FOOT IS REMOVED FROM ACCELERATOR PEDAL. ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO STOP WITH BRAKE PEDAL. HAD TO TAKE OUT OF GEAR TO STOP TRUCK. RESTARTED TRUCK AND IT OPERATES PROPERLY. IT HAS HAPPENED THREE MORE TIMES SINCE THIS ORIGINAL OCCURRENCE. FORD DEALER COULD FIND NO PROBLEM IN 2007. AM TAKING IT BACK AGAIN AS IT HAS HAPPENED TWICE IN THE PAST YEAR. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD F-150. WHILE DRIVING THE CONTACT DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL BUT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO STOP. HE LITERALLY HAD TO APPLY ALL OF HIS WEIGHT ON THE BRAKE PEDAL IN ORDER TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS CAUSED BY THE VACUUM HOSES. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 53,800. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE REPLACEMENT HOSE IS DESIGNED DIFFERENT FROM THE ORIGINAL WHICH THE CONSUMER THINKS FORD IS AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM WITH THE BRAKE HOSE. UPDATED 06/08/07 *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD F-150. WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH HE STATED THAT THE GEAR SHIFT INDICATOR DISENGAGED WHEN HE CAME TO A STOP, WHICH CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO JERK HARD. THERE WAS ALSO AN INCREASE IN THE RPM, WHICH CAUSED THE VEHICLE GEAR SHIFT INDICTOR TO ENGAGE WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT STATED THE TRANSMISSIONS SLIPPED OUT OF GEAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 9,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 19,000.
AT 15,000 AND 30,000 MILE SCHEDULED MAINTENANCES A BRAKE HOSE INSPECTED SHOULD BE DONE. IN OUR CASE IT WAS COMPLETED AND ACCORDING TO THE DEALERSHIP THERE WERE NO FOUND PROBLEMS. HOWEVER, WHEN WE WERE DRIVING AROUND A CURVE AND THERE WAS A TEENAGER ON A FOUR WHEELER ON OUR SIDE OF THE ROAD AND WE BRAKED TO AVOID THE CHILD ...WE HAD NO BRAKES ON OUR 2005 F-150 SUPERCREW. WE WERE ABLE TO AVOID INJURIES WITH OUR FAMILY INSIDE THE VEHICLE AND THE CHILD WE ALMOST HIT DUE TO THE BRAKE FAILURE. UPON TOWING THE VEHICLE IN THEY SAID THAT THE BRAKE HOSE INTO THE INTAKE WAS WORN AND BLEW OFF WHEN WE DEPRESSED THE BRAKE FAST. I ASKED WHY THIS WASN'T CHECKED AND THEY SAID BECAUSE IT WAS TOO HARD TO GET TO FOR A PHYSICAL INSPECTION DURING MAINTENANCE. THE SERVICE TECH ALSO SAID HE HAS SEEN THIS WITH SEVERAL F150'S. I SEE THIS AS BEING A SERIOUS DANGER FOR THESE BRAKE HOSES TO BLOW OFF AND NOT BE WHERE THEY CAN BE CHECKED. WE ARE PAYING FOR MAINTENANCE THAT IS NOT BEING DONE NOT TO MENTION PEOPLES LIVES ARE AT STAKE. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WILL SHUT OFF AND THE STEERING WHEEL WILL LOCK WHILE DRIVING. THE FAILURES OCCUR WITHOUT WARNING. THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON THE DASHBOARD AND DISPLAYED THAT THE ENGINE HAS MALFUNCTIONED. THE DEALER REPAIRED THE FAILURE THREE TIMES BY REPLACING THE SPARK PLUGS AND THE CHASSEL BODY. THE SPEED WAS UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 70,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000.
AS I APPROACHED A STOP SIGN BRAKES FAILED TO BRAKE PROPERLY. THE BRAKES WERE TIGHT AND NO AMOUNT OF PRESSURE WOULD STOP THE TRUCK. I PUT IT IN N AND IT EVENTUALLY ROLLED TO A STOP WITH THE HELP OF GRAVITY AND THE INCLINE LEADING UP TO THE INTERSECTION. I HAD MY 2005, F150 TOWED TO THE NEAREST FORD DEALERSHIP. THE FAULTY HOSE WAS REPLACED WITH A 'REINFORCED ONE. WHICH LEAVES ME TO BELIEVE FORD HAS HAD TROUBLE WITH THIS PART PRIOR TO THIS INCIDENT. WHY ELSE WOULD THEY REPLACE THE FAULTY PART WITH THIS NEW, SO-CALLED REINFORCED ONE. THE OLD PART IS NOT AVAILABLE BECAUSE I WAS TOLD THE DEALERSHIP HAD TO SEND IT TO FORD MOTOR CO. I WONDER HOW MANY ACCIDENTS, COLLISIONS, NEAR MISSES, AND DEATHS OCCURRED BECAUSE OF BRAKE FAILURES THAT WENT UNREPORTED. HAD THIS FAILURE OCCURRED IN MARCH, JUST NORTH OF TAILGATE , ALL ON ROUTE 77, WHEN THE TRACTOR TRAILER TRUCK PULLED IN FRONT OF ME, I 'M SURE THE ACCIDENT WOULD HAVE BECOME ANOTHER STATISTIC REPORTED AS AN UNFORTUNATE FATALITY CAUSED BY A CARELESS TRUCK DRIVER. NO ONE WOULD HAVE THOUGHT TO INVESTIGATE THE BRAKES ON MY TRUCK.*AK
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD F-150. WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO STALL AND SHUT OFF. HE MADE SEVERAL ATTEMPTS TO RESTART THE VEHICLE AND WAS ABLE TO RESUME NORMAL OPERATION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND A TECHNICIAN CONCLUDED THAT IT WOULD COST $600.00 TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE. NO REPAIRS WERE MADE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 45,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 70,447.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD F150. WHEN THE CONTACT ACTIVATED THE HEADLIGHTS, THE INSTRUMENT PANEL LIGHTS WOULD DIM. AS A RESULT, THE GAUGES BECAME DIFFICULT TO SEE. SHE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER ON THREE DIFFERENT OCCASIONS AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE ISSUE WAS A SAFETY FEATURE IN ORDER TO PREVENT GLARE ON THE DRIVER'S EYES AT NIGHT. THE DEALER DID NOTHING TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE DURING THE FIRST VISIT. DURING THE SECOND AND THIRD VISITS, THE DEALER OFFERED NO REMEDY. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT SHE DID NOT HAVE A LEGITIMATE COMPLAINT AND REFERRED HER TO THE SERVICE MANAGER AT THE DEALER. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 11,382 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 6,000.
UPON ACCELERATION OUR F150 EXCAB MAKES A GRINDING NOISE. ALSO, WOULD NOT DISENGAGE FROM 4HI, HAD TO STOP AND START A FEW TIMES TO GET IT TO DISENGAGE. TALKED TO FORD DEALER HERE AND HE SAID IF THE GRINDING NOISE HAPPENS AGAIN BRING IT IN WHILE IT IS HAPPENING SO A MECHANIC CAN GO FOR A RIDE. THE PROBLEM IS IT IS VERY SPORADIC AND PROBABLY WON'T HAPPEN WHEN THERE IS A MECHANIC IN THE TRUCK. *TR
THE 2005 F150 SUPERCREW HAS A SHUTTER IN THE REAR END WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A COMPLETE STOP. A FAMILY FRIEND HAD ALERTED US ABOUT FORD'S SERVICE BULLETIN ABOUT THIS PROBLEM, BUT HAS NOT ISSUED A RECALL TO THE BEST OF MY KNOWLEDGE. OUR FRIEND, A MECHANIC, FELT THE PROBLEM WERE THE BEARINGS IN THE REAR END, SO HE INSTALLED ALL NEW BEARINGS, HOWEVER, THIS HAS NOT SOLVED THE PROBLEM. MY VEHICLE ONLY HAS 51,000 MILES ON IT AND IT SHOULD NOT HAVE PROBLEMS LIKE THIS. ALSO, THE ENGINE HAS A KNOCK IN IT. A LOCAL MECHANIC STATED FORD WAS ALSO AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM AND WILL NOT ISSUE A RECALL!*AK
WHEN VEHICLE'S ENGINE IS COLD, AND APPROXIMATELY 8 MINUTES INTO DRIVING, VEHICLE WILL CUT OFF WHILE IN MOTION & WRENCH LIGHT COMES ON. VEHICLE THEN HAS TO BE GUIDED TO A STOP WITH NO POWER OR CAN BE SHIFTED INTO NEUTRAL & RESTARTED WHILE STILL MOVING. FOLLOWING VEHICLE RESTART ENGINE LIGHT IS ON. CODE INDICATES TRUCK HAS BEEN PLACED IN "LIMP HOME MODE". AFTER ABOUT 2 WEEKS, ENGINE LIGHT GOES OFF. I WAS ADVISED TO REPLACE THE THROTTLE BODY IN FEB. 2010, HOWEVER THE THROTTLE BODY HAD JUST BEEN REPLACED IN APRIL 2007 WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS ONLY 2 YEARS OLD. *TR
TL*- THE CONTACT STATED THAT ON THREE SEPARATE OCCASIONS WHILE DRIVING THE 2005 FORD F150 WITH 97200 FAILURE MILEAGE IT EXPERIENCED HEAVY VIBRATION. SHE FOUND THAT THE RIM SPLIT IN THE SAME PLACE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER, WHO STATED THAT HE HAS SEEN NOTHING LIKE THIS. TWO OF THE RIMS HAD BEEN REPLACED, BUT ONE HAD NOT. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 98,000.*AK
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD F-150. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH, THE CONTACT CRASHED INTO A TREE. NEITHER OF THE FRONT AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. THE INSURANCE COMPANY STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED MINOR INJURIES TO HIS LEFT SHOULDER. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN INSPECTED. FIRST OFF I WANT TO SAY THAT I WORK FOR FORD AND I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED THAT THE FIRST OF THE TWO ISSUE I HAVE HASN'T BEEN RECALLED AND I'M NOT 100% SURE ABOUT THE DATES THAT THESE PROBLEMS OCCURRED ON. MY TRUCK HAS SOUNDED LIKE IT HAS A DIESEL ENGINE IN IT SINCE I BOUGHT IT BRAD NEW IN 2005 AND AFTER TALKING TO SOME GUYS AT WORK I FIND OUT THAT IT IS CAUSED BY CAM PHASERS THAT ARE IN THE 2004-07 5.4LITRE ENGINES AND IF THESE FAIL YOU HAVE TO GET A NEW MOTOR WHICH I WAS TOLD JUST A COUPLE OF MONTHS AGO WOULD BE $8900.00 WHICH IS ABSOLUTELY CRAZY. IF YOU LOOK THEM UP ONLINE YOU WILL SEE THAT THIS IS A HUGE AND COSTLY PROBLEM. MY SECOND ISSUE IS I HAVE HAD MY REAREND REBUILT TWICE SINCE I HAVE OWNED THIS VEHICLE. THE FIRST TIME WAS BEFORE IT WAS OUT OF IT 36,000 MILE FACTORY WARRANTY, THE SECOND TIME WAS BEFORE IT WAS OUT OF THE 100,000 EXTENDED WARRANTY THAT I PURCHASED SO LUCKILY THOSE TWO TIMES DID NOT COST ME ANYTHING BUT NOW IT NEEDS IT AGAIN AND THE MECHANIC TELL ME IT COULD COST $5000 SO WITH THE MOTOR ISSUE AND THE REAREND ISSUE I COULD POSSIBLY SPEND $14,000 IN REPAIRS WHICH AGAIN IS CRAZY WHEN YOU SPENT CLOSE TO $50,000.00 ON THE VEHICLE TO BEGIN WITH. *TR
2005 F150 SUPERCREW 4X4, TRANSMISSION AT 48000 MILES BEGAN TO MIS-SHIFT INTO OVERDRIVE. WITHIN A FEW DAYS THE TRANSMISSION MISSED ALL SHIFT POINTS AND WENT INTO NEUTRAL. TRANSMISSION WAS REPLACED BY EXTENDED WARRANTY AT DEALERSHIP. NO CAUSE TO FAILURE WAS FOUND. *JB
IN THE PAST 25 MONTHS ALL 4 OF THE ELECTRIC WINDOW REGULATORS ON MY 2005 F150 SUPER CREW HAVE BROKEN AND THE TRUCK ONLY HAS 57K MILES ON IT. THE PROBLEM WAS THE SAME FOR ALL, THE PLASTIC PARTS THAT RETAIN THE END OF THE DRIVE CABLE LET LOOSE AND THEN THE CABLE UNWRAPS FROM THE MOTOR PULLEY. SINCE FORD DOES NOT SELL ANY SERVICE PARTS FOR THESE REGULATORS THE ENTIRE ASSEMBLY MUST BE REPLACED AT A COST OF ABOUT $200 EACH. SO FAR IT HAS COST ME A TOTAL OF $815.56 AND I AM EXTREMELY UPSET OVER THIS SITUATION. AS A COMPARISON, I DROVE MY 1985 AND MY 1994 F150'S FOR 152K AND 204K MILES RESPECTIVELY AND NEVER HAD A SINGLE ELECTRIC WINDOW PROBLEM WITH EITHER. ALSO, THE SERVICE AND PARTS STAFF AT THE DEALERSHIP ADMIT THERE IS A HIGH FAILURE RATE ON THESE REGULATORS BUT FORD IS NOT ISSUING ANY RECALLS. I WOULD LIKE FORD TO ISSUE A RECALL ON THESE WINDOW REGULATORS AND REIMBURSE THE COSTS PAID BY THOSE OF US WHO HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THEM ALREADY. THE ONLY FAILED REGULATOR I HAVE IS THE ONE I REPLACED MOST RECENTLY. *TR
TL* - THE CONTACT CALLED REGARDING THE 2005 FORD F150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN ATTEMPTING TO PUT THE VEHICLE IN REVERSE THE BRAKES FAILED. THE CONTACT PULLED OVER AND TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS. THE CONTACT HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO A FORD DEALER. WHO DIAGNOSED THE FAILURE AS BEING A RESULT OF A LACK OF VACUUM IN BRAKE BOOSTER. THE FORD DEALER FOUND THAT THE INTAKE VACUUM CONNECTION FAILED BECAUSE THE HOSE HAD BECOME SOFT. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 64, 277. THE DEALER HAD TO REMOVE THE THROTTLE AND FUEL RAIL TO ACCESS AND REPLACE THE HOSE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 66000.*AK UPDATED 04/05/07*JB

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD F-150. THE VEHICLE HAS GENERAL AMERI-TRAC, SIZE 255/70/R17 TIRES. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TREAD SEPARATED ON ALL OF THE TIRES ON THREE DIFFERENT OCCASIONS. WHEN THE TIRES DEVELOPED KNOTS, THE VEHICLE VIBRATED ROUGHLY AND WOULD ONLY DRIVE 40 MPH. THE DEALER REPLACED TWO OF THE TIRES DURING THE LAST FAILURE AND THE CONTACT IS CURRENTLY WAITING ON THE THIRD REPLACEMENT. THE DEALER WILL ONLY USE THE SAME BRAND OF TIRES AS REPLACEMENTS. THE DEALER COULD NOT EXPLAIN THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURES. THE MANUFACTURER HAS NOT BEEN NOTIFIED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 28,600 AND VEHICLE AND TIRE FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 24,000. UPDATED 02/14/08. *LJ
KNOWN ISSUE OF SPARK PLUGS BREAKING OFF IN THE CYLINDERS. FORD IS WELL AWARE OF THIS ISSUE, BUT REFUSES TO ISSUE A RECALL FOR IT. DUE TO THE BREAKAGE, IT HAS BEEN KNOWN TO COST WELL OVER $2,000 IN REPAIR COSTS; JUST FOR A SPARK PLUG CHANGE! *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD F150. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO MANEUVER OFF THE ROADWAY AND SHIFTED INTO PARK. HE WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE AFTER SEVERAL MINUTES. THE FAILURE RECURRED APPROXIMATELY FIVE TIMES AND THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO BOTH AN AUTHORIZED DEALER AND AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO WERE BOTH UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. NORMAL USE OF MY 2005 FORD F-150 IN THE PAST TWO YEARS HAS LEAD TO A FEW ITEM I BELIEVE CAN BE A SAFETY ISSUE. THE LATEST IS THE DRIVERS SEAT BREAKING ITS LOWER FRAME AND SEAT PAD TRAY. FORD HAS YET TO FIX THIS ISSUE AS THEY CLAIM PARTS ARE NOT AVAILABLE AT THIS TIME. THE SEAT IS "ROCKING" DURING NORMAL DRIVING AND IS A CONCERN OF MINE IF IT SHOULD TOTALLY FAIL WHILE THE VEHICLE IS IN USE LEADING TO A CRASH. IT IS ALSO AT A SLIGHT TILT CAUSING ME TO SIT IN A VERY UNCOMFORTABLE POSITION. IT HAS BEEN A MONTH SINCE I TOOK THE TRUCK IN TO HAVE IT REPAIRED, BUT THE PARTS ARE STILL ON ORDER TO FIX IT. THIS IS A UN-REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME TO HAVE TO WAIT. ALSO 3 OUT OF THE FIVE WINDOWS OF MY TRUCK HAVE BROKEN, THIS RESULTS IN THE WINDOW REGULATOR BREAKING CAUSING THE WINDOW TO DROP TO THE BOTTOM OF THE DOOR. THIS LEAVES ME AND MY VEHICLE OPEN TO THE WEATHER AND/OR BEING UNSECURED IF DRIVING IN A LESS THAN SAFE AREA. THE WINDOWS HAVE BEEN FIXED IN THE SAME DAY WITHOUT HAVING TO WAIT FOR PARTS AS THE DEALER HAS STATED "WE KEEP THE PARTS AVAILABLE AS IT IS A KNOWN PROBLEM". BUT THEY CAN NOT FIX THE OTHER TWO UNTIL THEY BREAK AS FORD WILL NOT ALLOW THEM TO UNLESS THEY BREAK. AS THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM IT SEEMS TO ME THE ISSUE SHOULD BE FIXED BEFORE ANY OTHER WINDOWS FAIL. *NM
ON DECEMBER 22, 2006, THE CONTACT HAD USED THE CRUISE CONTROL AND IT SMELLED LIKE SOMETHING ELECTRICAL WAS BURNING. HE TURNED OFF THE VEHICLE AND WHEN HE RETURNED 2 HOURS LATER THE SMELL HAD DISSIPATED. THE CONTACTED STATED THAT ON DECEMBER 28, 2006 HIS 2005 FORD F150 CREW CAB CAUGHT ON FIRE. HE HAD BEEN DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 8 MINUTES. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35-40 MPH. THE WEATHER CONDITIONS WERE DRY. THE CONTACT STATED SMOKE STARTED COMING UP OUT OF THE DASH BOARD. THERE WERE NO WARNING SIGNS OR ALARMS. HE PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND WAS ONLY ABLE TO ROLL THE WINDOW DOWN A QUARTER OF AN INCH. THE DOORS ON THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT OPEN. THE CONTACT HAD TO KEEP BANGING HIS SHOULDER AGAINST THE DOOR AND JIGGLING THE HANDLE BEFORE THE DOOR WOULD OPEN. THE CONTACT WAS USING THE CRUISE CONTROL. I HAD STOPPED AT A LOCAL SHOP ON MY WAY BACK TO WORK AND WHEN I WENT TO START MY PICKUP TO RETURN THE ENGINE WOULD NOT TURN OVER. ON THE THIRD ATTEMPT, IT FINALLY STARTED, BUT SMELLED LIKE A MOTOR BURNING UP. I WAS PROCEEDING UP A HILL AND WAS APPROACHING A STOP SIGN. WHEN I PRESSED ON THE BRAKES, THERE WERE NO BRAKES. I COULD NOT STOP THE TRUCK AT THE STOP SIGN. I COASTED THROUGH THE STOP SIGN AT APPROXIMATELY 10MPH AND I PULLED RIGHT INTO A PARKING LOT. NO MATTER HOW HARD I PRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL I COULDN'T GET THE TRUCK TO STOP COMPLETELY SO I PUT THE TRANSMISSION INTO PARK. I THEN PROCEEDED TO CALL FOR HELP. WHEN THE MECHANIC ARRIVED, HE FOUND THAT THE VACUUM HOSE HAD COME UNATTACHED. AFTER SPEAKING WITH A FORD MECHANIC OVER THE PHONE, HE STATED THAT THE MECHANIC HAD SINCE SEVERAL TRUCKS IN THE SAME MAKE AND MODEL AS MINE THAT ALSO HAD THIS SAME PROBLEM OCCUR. AT THIS TIME, MY TRUCK IS IN THE PROCESS OF BEING FIXED BY THE MECHANIC WHO TOLD US OF THIS PROBLEM. *NM

WHILE OPERATING VEHICLE IN COLD CONDITIONS OR ON COLD STARTS THE ENGINE RACES. ALSO DURING THIS TIME AS YOU TRY AND APPLY THE BRAKES THE MOTOR RACES AND IF IN GEAR IT WILL SURGE/LEAP FORWARD. THIS CAUSE THE VEHICLE TO CRASH INTO A BLOCK WALL AND DAMAGE THE FRONT END OF THE TRUCK. *NM
WHILE TRYING TO STOP MY FORD F-150 TRUCK, I WAS ACTUALLY HITTING THE ACCELERATOR AT THE SAME TIME AS I WAS PUSHING THE BRAKE PEDAL. I COULD NOT TELL THAT IT WAS HAPPENING UNTIL IT WAS TOO LATE. AS I PSHED ON THE BRAKE THE TRUCK DID NOT SEEM TO SLOW DOWN NEARLY AS FAST AS IT SHOULD HAVE, SO I PUSHED HARDER ON THE BRAKE AND THAT DID NOT SEEM TO WORK PROPERLY, THEN I REALIZED THE RIGHT EDGE OF MY FOOT WAS ACTUALLY DEPRESSING THE ACCELERATOR, BUT YOU COULD NOT REALLY FEEL IT SINCE IT HAS VERY LITTLE RESISTANCE. WHEN I REALIZED WHAT WAS HAPPENING, I TRIED TO LIFT MY FOOT OFF THE ACCELRATOR, BUT TO DO SO I HAD TO RELEASE THE BRAKE A BIT. WHEN I DID THAT, THE VEHICLE LURCHED FORWARD TOWARD THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME AND HIT IT. IT HAPPENS BECAUSE AS YOU ARE HITTING THE ACCELERATOR WHILE TRYING TO BRAKE, THE ENGINE REVS UP TO HIGH RPM, AS YOU TRY TO GET YOUR FOOT OFF THE ACCELERATOR, AND RELEASE THE BRAKE A BIT, THE CAR THINKS YOU WANT TO GO FAST AND TAKES OFF BECAUSE OF THE HIGH RPM. THIS HAPPENED TO ME ABOUT TWO OR THREE WEEKS AGO, BUT IT JUST SEEMED LIKE AN ODDITY AT THE TIME SO I DID NOT REALLY THINK IT WAS A BIG DEAL. THEN IT HAPPENED TO ME AGAIN YESTERDAY WHEN I NEEDED TO STOP QUICKLY BECAUSE EVERYONE HAD SLAMMED ON THE BRAKES IN FRONT OF ME, SO WHEN I WENT TO HIT MY BRAKES, I INADVERTANTLY WAS HITTING THE ACCELERATOR AT THE SAME TIME AGAIN, ONLY THIS TIME, IT CAUSED AN ACCIDENT AS I PLOWED INTO THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME. I HAD PLENTY OF ROOM IN FRONT OF ME, AT LEAST 10 TO 15 FEET OR MORE, AND WE WERE ONLY TRAVELING BETWEEN 5 TO 10 MILES PER HOUR. I WONDER HOW MANY OTHER DRIVERS HAVE HAD THIS OCCUR TO THEM. I HAVE BEEN DRIVING VEHICLES FOR THIRTY YEARS AND HAVE NEVER HAD THIS HAPPEN TO ME UNTIL I DROVE THIS TRUCK, AND IT HAS NOW HAPPENED AT LEAST 2 TIMES IN THE LAST MONTH. I WAS ON A TRIP OUT OF TOWN AND I SMELT SOMETHING BURNING. FEW MINUTES LATER, I SAW SMOKE COMING OUT OF THE CORNER CENTER CONSOLE. I PULLED OVER TO INVESTIGATE AND SAW A LIGHT SHINING THROUGH THE SIDE OF MY CONSOLE THAT DIDN'T BELONG THERE. WHEN I TURNED OFF MY HEADLIGHTS AND THE LIGHT WOULD TURN OFF AND STOP MELTING THE PLASTIC OF THE CONSOLE. THIS COULD HAVE BEEN WORSE FOR ME HAD IT NOT BEEN DAYLIGHT! IT TURNS OUT IT WAS THE LIGHT THAT CONNECTS TO THE GEAR SHIFT TO ILLUMINATE THE LETTERS (P, R, D, ETC.) HAD NOT BEEN SCREWED IN TIGHTLY AT THE MANUFACTURE. FORD REPLACED THE CONSOLE, THE CONNECTION BRACKET AND THE LIGHT SOCKET AS THEY HAD MELTED TOGETHER. MY HUSBANDS LIGHT IN HIS F150 UNSCREWED TOO, BUT DIDN'T CAUSE ANY DAMAGE. *NM
2005 FORD F150 SUPERCREW 4 DOOR TRUCK-FAILED POWER WINDOW REGULATOR (FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR). DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD WHEN I HEAR A LOUD BANG. THE NOISE WAS LOUD AND I COULD NOT BE SURE THAT SOMETHING HAD NOT BEEN THROWN OR SHOT AT MY TRUCK. AS I TRIED TO UNDERSTAND THE PROBLEM, I NOTICED THE DRIVER'S SIDE WINDOW FALLING INTO THE DOOR. I TRIED TO HOLD THE WINDOW UP WHILE ALSO TRYING TO CONTROL THE CAR. MY DOG, A 90 LB BLACK LABRADOR RETRIEVER WAS IN THE BACK SEAT AREA AND WHEN THE WINDOW DROPPED OPEN, HE JUMPED TO PUSH HIS HEAD OUT THE NOW OPEN WINDOW ONLY ADDING MORE TO THE SAFETY AND CONTROL CHALLENGES. THE FAILURE WAS A TOTAL SURPRISE. THE TRUCK IS ONLY USED FOR LIGHT YARD-RELATED WORK AND DOES NOT GO OFF ROAD. THE WINDOWS ARE SELDOM OPERATED AS AIR-CONDITIONING IS TYPICALLY RUNNING IN THE HEAT OF FLORIDA. THIS WAS THE FIRST EVENT FOR THIS VEHICLE. THE DEALERSHIP SERVICE DEPARTMENT REP INDICATED THE REGULATOR IS A NEW PART IN THE F150 AND THE PROBLEM IS NOT UNIQUE TO MY TRUCK. THE DEALERSHIP REPAIRED THE REGULATOR AND INDICATED I SHOULD PASS MY COMPLAINT ON TO FORD. *TR
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED UPON STARTING THE VEHICLE IN THE MORNING, WITHOUT ANY WARNING SIGNAL TO INDICATE BRAKE FAILURE, THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED AND WOULD NOT GO ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP WHO DETERMINED A VACUUM LINE HAD DISCONNECTED DUE TO OIL PRESENCE IN THE CONNECTION. THE RUBBER HOSE WAS REPLACED. DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE VEHICLE'S FACTORY KEY WAS DEFECTIVE AND DOES NOT START THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE INCLUDED 3 KEYS; 2 GOOD AND 1 DEFECTIVE. ANY TIME A GOOD KEY WAS USED TO LOCK THE DOOR, THE DEFECTIVE KEY DOES NOT WORK AT ALL WHEN ATTEMPTING TO START THE VEHICLE. THE DEFECTIVE KEY WORKED IF IT USED TO LOCK THE DOOR BEFORE STARTING UP. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER, WHO PROGRAMMED ANOTHER KEY, BUT THE PROBLEM PERSISTED. THE VEHICLE WAS BROUGHT BACK TO THE DEALER WHO EXPRESSED THAT ANOTHER KEY COULD NOT BE REPROGRAMMED BECAUSE OF THE WAY THE VEHICLE WAS MANUFACTURED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED THREE TIMES AND SUGGESTED THAT THE VEHICLE BE TAKEN TO ANOTHER DEALER. THE OTHER DEALER COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM, AND OFFERED NO RESOLUTION.

THE POLICE WAS NOT ALERTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHO DETERMINED THE MASTER CYLINDER WAS INOPERATIVE. THE MASTER CYLINDER REPLACEMENT CORRECTED THE BRAKING PROBLEM. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT ALERTED.
BRAKES, REAR, LEAKAGE OF LUBRICANT FROM REAL AXLE THROUGH SEALS TO CONTAMINATE REAR BRAKE ROTORS, CALIPERS, ETC.. THIS WAS FOUND BY TECHNICIAN AT A FORD DEALERSHIP WHILE TRUCK WAS IN FOR AN OIL CHANGE. THE ENTIRE REAR END WAS REPLACED. IT WAS A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE THE BRAKES WOULD BE INOPERATIVE. THEY COULD NOT TELL IF BRAKE FLUID MAY HAVE CAUSED THE LEAK OR A FAILURE IN THE SEALS. I HAVE ALL BILLING PAPERWORK.*AK
THE FIRST TIME THIS HAPPENED AT 3000 MILES, THE SECOND TIME, IT WAS AROUND 19,300 MILES AND WAS A BIT MORE INTENSE. I WAS SITTING AT THE STOP LIGHT, WITH FOOT ON BRAKE, THE TRUCK STARTED ACCELERATING TO THE POINT,I STARTED GOING INTO TRAFFIC. I THEN PUT IT IN NEUTRAL AND TAPPED ON THE GAS PEDAL TO GET IT TO IDLE DOWN. LUCKILY I WAS ABLE TO AVOID WHAT COULD HAVE BEEN DEADLY. I THEN TOOK IT STRAIGHT TO THE DEALER, WHERE I WAS TOLD THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM, AND WAS TOLD I PROBABLY HAD ONE FOOT ON THE BRAKE AND THE OTHER ON THE GAS, WHEN I TOLD HIM I DRIVE WITH ONE FOOT, HE SAID MY FOOT COULD HAVE SLIPPED FROM THE BRAKE TO THE GAS PEDAL. EVERY TIME HE CAME UP WITH A LAME EXCUSE AS TO WHAT COULD HAVE HAPPENED I LET HIM KNOW HE WAS WRONG. NOTHING WAS DONE AND WAS TOLD IF IT HAPPENS AGAIN BRING IT BACK IN AND THEY WILL LOOK AT IT. 2005 F150 RWD VEHICLE HAS BEEN INTO FORD REPAIR 3 TIMES FOR BRAKES (PARKING BRAKE, ABS). ONE OCCASION THE TEMPERATURE OF THE LT REAR HUB WAS 385 DEGREES F BY INFERRED THERMOMETER. ANOTHER OCCASION RT REAR WAS TOO HOT TO TOUCH AFTER SITTING FOR AN HOUR. THIS VEHICLE HAS ALUMINUM RIMS THAT THE DEALER STATES SHOW NO DAMAGE. ALSO UNKNOWN IS WHAT THIS TEMPERATURE MAY HAVE CAUSED TO THE REAR BEARINGS, SEALS AND OTHER BRAKE COMPONENTS (CALIPERS). ABS LIGHT INTERMITTENT ON AND DRIVEABLITY WAS INTOLERABLE WITH SHAKING AND VIBRATION. FUEL CONSUMPTION GOT WORSE BY 30%. VEHICLE TAKEN TO DEALER AND PARTS WERE REPLACED (ROTOR, ABS SENSOR, PARKING BRAKE REATTACHED) , PARKING BRAKES WAS FOUND DISCONNECTED IN THE SEMI LOCKED POSITION ON THE SECOND RETURN, MISSED ON FIRST RETURN. THEY STATED THAT THERE WAS A MALFUNCTION WITH THE CALIPERS. THE DEALER ALSO DISCOVERED THAT AN AXLE SEAL WAS LEAKING, WHICH SATURATED THE BRAKE FUSE FOR THE EMERGENCY BRAKE. THE DEALER REPLACED THE SEAL AND CALIPERS AND TURNED DOWN ALL FOUR ROTORS ON THE VEHICLE, BUT DID NOT REPLACE THE BRAKE PADS. THE FAILURE RECURRED AND THE DEALER REPLACED THE REAR CALIPERS, REAR ROTORS, AND BRAKE PADS. THE CONTACT WANTED TO CHARGE HIM FOR THE BRAKE PADS (PARTS, NOT LABOR). WHILE COMING TO A STOP OCCASIONALLY THE BRAKE PEDAL HAS A LOSS OF PRESSURE FEEL AND THE BRAKE PEDAL GOES TO THE FLOOR. ON THE 26TH OF JULY I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO POWER FORD IN VALENCIA CA. AND THEY STATED THEY COULD NOT FIND A PROBLEM. IT IS MY BELIEF THE VACUUM BRAKE BOOSTER IS LEAKING PRESSURE WHEN THE AMBIENT TEMPERATURE IS HIGH, BOTH TIMES THIS OCCURRED THE OUTSIDE TEMPERATURE WAS ABOVE 110 DEGREES. *JB

I HAVE A 2005 FORD F150 LEASED IN JULY OF 2005. I HAVE EXPERIENCED TWO INCIDENCES WHERE A TIRE HAS GONE FLAT IN A MATTER OF SECONDS WHILE HIGHWAY DRIVING AT SPEEDS NEAR 60 MPH. I WAS ABLE TO AVOID AN ACCIDENT IN EACH CASE BUT THIS COULD HAVE GONE TERRIBLY WRONG IF I WAS NOT ABLE TO CONTROL THE VEHICLE TO PULL OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AS IT WAS DIFFICULT TO CONTROL OR TO KEEP IN MY LANE. THE SECOND INCIDENT OCCURRED ON JULY 17, 2006. WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEED, NEAR 65 MPH, MY RIGHT REAR TIRE WENT FLAT WITHIN 5 SECONDS. I HAD A DIFFICULT TIME TRYING TO STEER THE TRUCK AND NEARLY COLLIDED WITH THE VEHICLE NEXT TO ME. I REMOVED THE WHEEL FROM THE TRUCK AND TOOK IT TO A LOCAL FORD DEALER. THE TIRE TECHNICIAN INSPECTED THE WHEEL AND TOLD ME THE VALVE STEM WAS LEAKING; NO HOLE OR PUNCTURE IN THE TIRE COULD BE FOUND. THEY REMOVED THE TIRE FROM THE RIM AND INSPECTED THE TIRE TO FIND DAMAGE IN THE INNER WALL OF THE TIRE. I REQUESTED THAT THE TIRE, VALVE STEM, AND LABOR BE COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. THE SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE TOLD ME THAT HE DID NOT THINK IT WAS THEIR FAULT. HE STATED THAT I WOULD HAVE TO BUY A NEW TIRE AND THEY WOULD REPLACE THE VALVE STEM. I ARGUED THAT I HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH THE FAILURE OF THE TIRE AND I BELIEVED IT SHOULD BE COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. I EXPLAINED THAT I THOUGH FORD HAS A SAFETY ISSUE WITH THE VALVE STEMS AND HE CONTINUED TO TELL ME I MUST HAVE HIT A POT HOLE OR SOMETHING. I WAS VERY UPSET THAT HE WAS ENTIRELY AVOIDING THE ISSUE AT HAND AND BLAMING ME FOR WHAT APPEARS TO BE A MANUFACTURER'S DEFECT. *JB
