OUR 2005 FORD F-150 PICK UP TRUCK WAS PARKED IN OUR DRIVEWAY. DURING THE NIGHT THE TRUCK CAUGHT FIRE AND BURNED THROUGH THE GARAGE AND THROUGH THE ATTIC. OUR HOME AND CONTENTS WERE DESTROYED AS WELL AS LOSS OF A FAMILY PET. *NM
I EXPERIENCED EXTREME FRONT BRAKE SHUDDER AFTER ONLY 6200 MILES ON THIS VEHICLE. I FEEL THAT THIS IS A SERIOUS DESIGN FAULT OF THE FRONT ROTORS. I HAD THE VEHICLE SERVICED UNDER WARRANTY AND THE FRONT ROTORS WERE CUT. I AM JUST WAITING FOR THE ROTORS TO WARP AGAIN, AND HOPEFULLY THEY WON'T CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. NO HELP FROM INQUIRIES WITH FORD MOTOR COMPANY ABOUT THIS PROBLEM. *NM
VEHICLE'S TRANSMISSION FAILED AFTER ONLY 18 MONTHS, 38,925 MILES. DEALER UNABLE TO DETERMINE WHY TRANSMISSION FAILED. NO LACK OF FLUID, VEHICLE IS NOT USED TO TOW. COULD ONLY STATE THAT EXCESSIVE HEAT BUILD UP IN TRANSMISSION AND RESULTED IN FAILURE. VEHICLE AND BEEN DRIVEN HOME PRIOR EVENING WITH NO ISSUES, NEXT MORNING FAILED AT START UP. MANUFACTURER WILL NOT WARRANTY DUE TO MILEAGE, REPLACED WITH A REBUILT UNIT AT A COST OF $2,800. *JB
CONSTANT TICKING NOISE FROM ENGINE, SOUNDS LIKE A DIESEL ENGINE, REMAINS TICKING THE ENTIRE TIME./ WHEN APPLYING BRAKES EITHER ON A HARD STOP OR ROLLING OVER TRACTION IN ROAD, GRINDING FEELING IN PEDAL AND NOISE AND WILL NOT STOP IMMEDIATELY.-----WAS TOLD BY DEALERSHIP THAT THE "TICKING" WAS TYPICAL FOR FORD AND THE BRAKES WAS PART OF THE ANTILOCK SYSTEM, I DO NOT THINK SO. *TR
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THERE IS A VIBRATION WHILE DRIVING AT SPEEDS ABOVE 65 MPH. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THE DRIVER SIDE FRONT AND REAR TIRES WERE REPLACED WHICH CORRECTED THE PROBLEM FOR A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME. THE VIBRATION RECURRED THEREFORE, THE VEHICLE WAS RETURNED TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THE TIRES WERE ALIGNED. HOWEVER, THE PROBLEM PERSISTED RESULTING IN THE CONTACT NOT EXCEEDING 60 MPH WHILE DRIVING. THE TIRE MANUFACTURER IS BF GOODRICH RUGGED TRAIL (TA). THE TIRE LINE IS P275/65R18. THE DOT NUMBER IS APU9AU610905. *AK UPDATED 07/05/06. *JB
I WAS GOING TO MEET MY HUSBAND ON THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY TO PICK UP MY SON. I STARTED SLOWING DOWN FROM HIGHWAY SPEED OF 90KMS/HR QUITE A WAYS BACK. I SLOWED THE TRUCK TO ABOUT 30KMS/HR ABOUT 40 FEET BEHIND HIS PICKUP. ALL OF A SUDDEN THE TRUCK I WAS DRIVING GAVE A COUPLE OF LURCHES, SPED UP AND SLAMMED INTO THE BACK OF MY HUSBANDS TRUCK. I DID NOT REMOVE MY FOOT FROM THE BRAKE THE WHOLE TIME. THERE WAS NOTHING I COULD DO TO STOP THE TRUCK. ON THE GROUND BESIDE THE TRUCK THERE WAS EVIDENCE OF SOMETHING STRANGE GOING ON WITH THE PASSENGER SIDE REAR TIRE. LIKE IT HAD REVVED UP, BRAKED, REVVED AND BRAKED AGAIN. THE SALESMAN THAT SOLD US THE TRUCK CAME OUT TO THE SCENE AND SAID THAT HE BELIEVED SOMETHING WENT TERRIBLY WRONG AND SPOKE TO THE SERVICE MANAGER AT LACOMBE FORD. THEY WERE UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM AND COULD NOT COME UP WITH A CAUSE FOR THE BRAKES TO MALFUNCTION LIKE THEY DID. FORD CANADA DID NO FURTHER TESTING ON THE TRUCK. THERE WAS $8000 DAMAGE TO THE FRONT END OF THE F150 AND $1000 DAMAGE TO THE OTHER PICKUP WHICH WE HAVE TO PAY FOR. WE HAD THE DAMAGE ON THE FRONT END REPAIRED AND DECIDED TO TRADE IT IN FOR SOMETHING THAT MIGHT NOT KILL ME AND MY FAMILY. THE DAY I WAS TAKING IT IN TO BE TRADED IT FAILED AGAIN, THIS TIME AT THE STOP SIGN AT AN OVERPASS. LUCKILY NO ONE WAS COMING THAT DAY. NOTHING WAS EVER CORRECTED ON THE TRUCK. *NM
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED AFTER RELEASING THE EMERGENCY BRAKES FROM THE VEHICLE IN PREPERATION TO DRIVE, THE EMERGENCY BRAKES WOULD STICK IN PLACE. THIS CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO TRAVEL WITH THE EMERGNECY BRAKES APPIED GENERATING PRESSURE TOWARD THE TIRES WHICH CAUSED THEM TO RUN HOT AND BURN. THE BURNING RELEASED A BURNING TIRE ODOR. THE DEALERS DETERMINED THERE WOULD BE A CHARGE FOR ANY SERVICE EVEN THOUGH VEHICLE WAS UNDER WARRANTY. NO REPAIRS WERE DONE.
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE TAILGATE DETACHED FROM THE VEHICLE AND WAS HANGING BY THE CABLES. THIS OCCURRED WHILE DRIVING OVER A BUMP AT 10 MPH, HAULING A 300 POUND COUCH. THE DEALERSHIP AND MANUFACTURER DETERMINED THIS WAS NOT A MANUFACTURER'S DEFECT THOUGH THEY ADMITTED THAT IT WAS NOT THE CONTACT'S FAULT. THE CONTACT FELT THAT THE TAILGATE WAS BUILT EXTREMELY LIGHT, AND IT WAS SPRING LOADED. FELT THAT THE DEALER SHOULD TAKE RESPONSIBILITY AND REPAIR THE VEHICLE. *AK
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD F150. THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT HIS BRAKE PEDAL WAS SOFT AND SPONGY, MAKING IT DIFFICULT TO BRAKE. THE BRAKE PEDAL WOULD EXTEND TO THE FLOOR WHEN IT WAS DEPRESSED. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS SUPPOSED TO FUNCTION IN THAT MANNER. THE DEALER WORKED ON THE VEHICLE SEVERAL TIMES, BUT FAILED TO CORRECT THE FAILURE. A FORD REPRESENTATIVE DROVE THE VEHICLE, ACKNOWLEDGED THE FAILURE, AND ORDERED PARTS FOR THE REPAIR. HOWEVER, THE FAILURE STILL PERSISTS. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 25,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 4,000.
I HAVE NOT HAD A FAILURE AT THIS TIME. THE PROBLEM IS THE BRAKES ON MY 2005 F-150. THE PEDAL HAS ALWAYS BEEN MUSHY AND ENGAGES THE BRAKES AT DIFFERENT LEVELS WHEN APPLIED, I NEVER WHERE THE BRAKING WILL BEGIN. SOME TIMES IF I AM PARKING A TRAILER WHERE THE BRAKES ARE USED A LOT THE PEDAL WILL BE ALMOST TO THE FLOOR. I DID ALMOST BACK INTO A CAR WHEN PARKING BECAUSE THE BRAKES DIDN'T ENGAGE UNTIL PEDAL WAS QUITE LOW. *NM
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 10 MPH THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED AND THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED FORWARD CRASHING INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE PROBLEM COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED. NO POLICE REPORT WAS FILED HOWEVER; A REPRESENTATIVE FROM THE DMV FILED A REPORT. UPDATE 5/2/2006 - *NM
MY WIFE WAS AT A COMPLETE STOP AT A RED LIGHT IN THE LEFT TURN LANE. SHE IS DRIVING A FORD F150 TRUCK, WITH LESS THAN 6,000 MILES. WHILE WAITING AT THE LIGHT, THE ENGINE BEGAN ACCELERATING UNEXPECTEDLY. SHE HAD HER FOOT ON THE BRAKE AND THIS INITIALLY HELD THE VEHICLE IN PLACE. THE ACCELERATION CONTINUED TO INCREASE AND SHE PRESSED HARDER ON THE BRAKE PETAL, IN AN EFFORT TO KEEP THE VEHICLE FROM MOVING FORWARD. THE VEHICLE'S ACCELERATION INCREASED AND THE VEHICLE LURCHED FORWARD, STRIKING THE STOPPED VEHICLE IN FRONT OF HER. NO ONE WAS HURT AND I HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP. THE SERVICE TECH AT THE DEALERSHIP, TOLD ME THAT IT COULD BE A NUMBER OF PROBLEMS WITH THE FUEL INJECTION SYSTEM. IT SHOULD BE NOTED THAT THE DAY BEFORE, I WAS DRIVING THE TRUCK AND WHILE STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT, I THOUGHT I HEARD THE ENGINE RUNNING IN A LOUD OR ROUGH MANNER. I TURNED THE RADIO OFF AND LISTENED INTENTLY. I CHECK THE GAUGES AND THEY WERE FIND. THE LIGHT CHANGED AND I DROVE FORWARD AND THE FUNNY NOISE WENT AWAY. COULD THIS HAVE BEEN AN INDICATION OF BAD THINGS TO COME? FINALLY, I FOUND A SIMILAR INCIDENT ON THE NHTSA COMPLAINT SITE, DATED SEPTEMBER 8, 2005. THE INCIDENT ON THAT DATE IS ALMOST EXACTLY WHAT HAPPENED TO MY WIFE. *NM
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE THE HEATER IS ENGAGED GAS FUMES ARE DETECTED IN THE VEHICLE. IN AN ATTEMPT TO REMEDY THE PROBLEM THE DEALER REPLACED THE FUEL INJECTORS, SPARK PLUGS, STARTER, FLY WHEEL, TRANSFER CASE, AND CATALYTIC CONVERTER WITH NO SUCCESS.
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE APPLYING THE BRAKE THE PEDAL GOES TO THE FLOOR AND THE CONTACT'S FOOT PRESSES THE ACCELERATOR. THE DEALER INDICATED THE BRAKES OPERATE AS DESIGNED AND BOTH THE BRAKE AND ACCELERATOR PEDALS MEET THE FMVSS. NO REPAIRS HAVE BEEN MADE. UPDATED 3/28/2006 - *NM
AT 20,000 MILES I TOOK MY 2005 F150 SUPERCREW XLT 4X4 INTO FIRESTONE, TO HAVE THE BRAKES CHECKED. THE TECHNICIAN INFORMED ME THAT THERE APPEARED TO BE NOTHING WRONG WITH THE PADS, AS I STILL HAD ABOUT 65-70% LEFT ON THEM. HOWEVER THERE WAS AN ISSUE WITH THE ROTORS. HE STATED THEY WERE WARPED. KNOWING THIS IS NOT NORMAL, I ASKED IF THIS WAS A COMMON THING ON THE NEW MODEL FORDS. AND HE STATED THAT THEY HAVE HAD A LOT OF THEM IN FOR THE EXACT SAME THING, WARPED ROTORS. I TOLD HIM TO PUT THE TRUCK BACK TOGETHER AND WOULD TAKE TO FORD. HE STATED THAT THE REASON THEY WERE WARPING, WAS BECAUSE OF A DESIGN DEFECT WHICH DID NOT ALLOW THEM TO GET ENOUGH AIR TO COOL, AND IF BRAKES WERE APPLIED HARD, THEN CAUSED THEM TO WARP. I TOOK THE TRUCK TO FORD DEALERSHIP ( JENKINS AND WYNNE IN CLARKSVILLE, TN.) INFORMED THE SERVICE WRITER. AS I WAS SPEAKING TO HIM, A TECH FROM THE SHOP WALKED IN, AND SAID THERE WAS A BIG PROBLEM WITH THEM. THEY TOOK MY TRUCK INTO THE SHOP, AND AFTER A DAY INFORMED ME THAT MY TRUCK HAD THE "NEW AND IMPROVED BRAKES" ALREADY INSTALLED. I ASKED HOW THEY COULD BE NEW AND IMPROVED IF DOING THE SAME AS THE OLD STYLE. THEY STATED THEY WOULD TAKE CARE OF ME. WHEN I INQUIRED AS TO THE HOW? THE SERVICE WRITER STATED " WE WILL MACHINE THEM." I TOLD HIM THAT JUST MEANS THAT THEY WERE GOING TO GRIND THE ROTORS FLAT, AND THAT IT WASN'T FIXING THE ISSUE. I WOULD JUST HAVE TO HAVE A COMPLETE TOTAL BRAKE REPLACEMENT AT 40,000 MILES. HE COMMENTED THAT THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO. I ASKED IF THIS WAS NORMAL FOR TRUCKS TO BE COMING IN WITH WARPED ROTORS AT 20,000 MILES, AND HE JUST SHRUGGED HIS SHOULDERS. I ASKED HIM, WHAT ARE WE AS TRUCK OWNERS SUPPOSED TO DO, REPLACE THE ROTORS EVERY 30-40,000 MILES. AGAIN HE JUST SHRUGGED AND SAID THERE WAS NOTHING HE COULD DO. AFTER THEY GROUND THE ROTORS, AND PUT THE TRUCK BACK TOGETHER, LESS THAN 500 MILES THEY STARTED DOING THE SAME THING, AND I ALMOST HAD AN ACCIDENT. THEY WILL "PULSE AND THE VEHICLE WILL LURCH" *JB
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE VEHICLE HAD AN IMPROPER BRAKE ADJUSTMENT WHICH MADE THE SLACK ADJUSTER LENGTH DIFFERENT ON EACH SIDE OF AN AXLE. THE DEALERSHIP DID NOT FIND ANY PROBLEM AND THE CONTACT REQUESTED THAT THE BRAKE CHAMBERS BE REPLACED AND EACH OF THE SERVICE CHAMBERS MUST BE OF THE SAME SIZE ACROSS THE VEHICLE'S AXLES. UPDATED 10/18/2006 - THE BRAKE PEDAL TRAVELS PAST THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL AND HAS CAUSED TROUBLE WHILE THE CONSUMER ATTEMPTS TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE CONSUMER HAS INADVERTENTLY IT BOTH PEDALS AT THE SAME TIME. *NM
SHUDDERING, SHAKING, ROUGH IDLE, BANGING WHEN RE-APPLYING GAS AFTER COASTING AND STALLING AT INTERSECTIONS. THEN MANUFACTURER HAS REPLACED 5 FUEL INJECTORS SO FAR AND THE TRUCK IS RUNNING ROUGH AGAIN. I HAVE 23K MILES. *JB
WHILE DRIVING MY 2005 F150, THE PASSENGER SIDE REAR TIRE STARTED LOCKING UP AND SMELLING REALLY BAD. I STOPPED TO INVESTIGATE AND FOUND THE RIM TO BE VERY HOT. I DROVE IT A FEW MORE MILES TO A LOCAL FORD DEALER. THEY SAID THEY WERE GOING TO LOAN ME A CAR FOR FREE AND FIX THE PROBLEM. I ASKED WHAT PROBLEM AND THEY SAID THE PROBLEM THEY HAVE STARTED HAVING WITH F150 BRAKE CALIPERS LOCKING UP WHILE CUSTOMERS ARE DRIVING. IT BOTHERS ME THAT I HAD TO FIND OUT ABOUT THE PROBLEM THIS WAY. I THINK FORD SHOULD BE TELLING CUSTOMERS ABOUT THIS PROBLEM RIGHT NOW BEFORE SOMEONE GETS HURT BAD FROM THIS DEFECT. *JB
WHEN STARTING MY VEHICLE IN THE PARKING LOT IT SPUTTERED AND DID NOT START THE FIRST TIME. NO PROBLEM THE SECOND TIME. AFTER STARTING THE SECOND TIME I NOTICED THE POWER BRAKES DID NOT WORK. I TURNED THE TRUCK OFF TO TRY TO RESET THE SYSTEM, STILL NO BRAKES. I DROVE HOME VERY CAREFULLY USING MY ENTIRE BODY WEIGHT TO STOP THE VEHICLE AT STOP LIGHTS. THERE WOULD BE NO WAY TO STOP IF I DID NOT HAVE PLENTY OF ROOM IN FRONT OF ME. I TOOK THE TRUCK INTO THE FORD DEALER AND WAS TOLD A HOSE IS LEAKING OR HAS COME LOOSE BEHIND THE INTAKE MANIFOLD. COST APPROX 700.00. I HAVE CONTACTED FORD FOR POTENTIAL PAYMENT. *TR
BRAKES FAILED 3 TIMES. LAST TIME PEDAL WENT TO FLOOR AND I WENT THROUGH STOP SIGN. ALSO HAD THROTTLE STICKING. AFTER PEDAL SINKS TO FLOOR & YOU TRY A SECOND ATTEMPT THEN IT WORKS FINE. TRUCK HAS BEEN AT DEALERSHIP SINCE FEBRUARY 10, 2006 & IS STILL THERE TODAY APRIL 17, 2006. FORD REFUSES TO ACKNOWLEDGE OR REPAIR PROBLEM. FORD TOLD ME TO DRIVE IT UNTIL IT HAPPENS AGAIN AND NOTIFY THEM. VEHICLE IS NOT DRIVABLE IN IT'S CURRENT CONDITION. *NM
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE STOPPED THE VEHICLE LURCHED FORWARD WITHOUT WARNING. THE ENGINE REVVED TO 5000 RPM AND THE TIRES SPUN AND WERE BURNING RUBBER. THE DEALER COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM AND NO REPAIRS WERE MADE. *JB THE HORN ASSEMBLY WAS REPLACED. UPDATED 03/17/06. *JB
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE FRONT END VIBRATED AT 45MPH AND ABOVE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP FOR INSPECTION NUMEROUS TIMES. THE DEALER REPLACED THE DRIVESHAFT, TRANSMISSION MOUNTS, CUT THE ROTORS AND TIGHTENED THE PINION IN THE REAR END. ALTHOUGH THESE REPAIRS WERE MADE, THIS DID NOT REMEDY THE PROBLEM.
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A FRONT END COLLISION AT 40 MPH AND THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THERE WAS NO BRAKING PRIOR TO IMPACT. THERE WERE NO PREVIOUS PROBLEMS WITH THE AIRBAGS. THE CONTACT WAS WEARING A SEAT BELT, BUT SUSTAINED MINOR INJURIES. ALTHOUGH THE VEHICLE SUSTAINED EXTENSIVE DAMAGE, THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TOTALED BY THE INSURANCE ADJUSTOR. THE POLICE WERE ON THE SCENE AND A REPORT WAS TAKEN. UPDATED 02/21/06. *JB
PLEASE HELP A CONSUMER! I QUESTION THE SAFETY AND LONG TERM VALUE OF THE NEW FORD F150 TRUCKS MY NAME IS [XXX] AND I AM WRITING YOU AS A LAST DITCH EFFORT TO INFORM THE PUBLIC ABOUT A PRODUCTION ISSUE WITH THE FORD F150 TRUCKS THAT VIBRATE UNDER NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS. ABOUT THREE MONTHS AGO I PURCHASED A NEW F150 AND FROM THAT POINT I HAVE HAD A VIBRATION AND TRANSMISSION ISSUE. FORD HAS NOT BEEN ABLE TO CORRECT IT AND IN THE PROCESS I FOUND THAT THE DEALERSHIP I BOUGHT THE TRUCK FROM FORGED SOME INVOICE DOCUMENTS. I WAS SHOCKED TO FIND THIS PROBLEM ALL OVER THE COUNTRY WHEN I STARTED TO LOOK INTO IT. YOU CAN SEE FOR YOURSELF IF YOU SEARCH GOOGLE FOR TOPICS LIKE "2005 F150 VIBRATION". THE INCIDENT DATE IS THE MOST RECENT. TRUCK HAS ONLY 4200 MILES ON IT. ON ALL FOUR OCCASIONS I WAS BRAKING WHEN IT BEGAN TO ACCELERATED THREE TIMES AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS, ONE TIME ON A GRAVEL ROAD. THE CRUISE WAS NOT ON. I DID NOT HAVE MY FOOT ON BOTH THE BRAKE AND ACCELERATOR. THE BRAKES NOR THE EMERGENCY BRAKE WOULD HOLD IT. I HAVE EXPERIENCED BRAKE FAILURES ON AT LEAST 5 OCCASIONS. IT HAS OCCURRED AT SLOW SPEED WHEN APPROACHING A STOP AT AN INTERSECTION AND WHEN BEHIND OTHER VEHICLES IN TRAFFIC. THE BRAKES APPEAR TO BE ENGAGING THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKING SYSTEM AND START TO PULSE BUT FAIL TO STOP. ALL OF THE INCIDENTS HAVE OCCURRED WHEN THE PAVEMENT WAS COMPLETELY DRY AND THE ROAD SURFACES WERE CLEAN. ALL INCIDENTS HAVE BEEN NARROW MISSES IN TRAFFIC COLLISIONS. AFTER EACH INCIDENT THE BRAKES APPEAR TO RETURN TO NORMAL FUNCTION AND ONLY ONCE HAVE I BEEN ABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE WHICH WAS IN A PARKING LOT SHORTLY AFTER THE VERY FIRST INCIDENT. DURING EACH INCIDENT I INITIALLY APPLY AND HOLD THE BRAKE UNTIL I REALIZE COMPLETE FAILURE AND THEN RELEASE AND RE-APPLY. EXCEPT FOR YESTERDAY (01/01/2006) THE BRAKES ENGAGED ON THE SECOND ATTEMPT. YESTERDAY THE VEHICLE CAME TO A STOP ON THE THIRD ATTEMPT BUT ONLY BECAUSE THE INITIAL SPEED WAS SO SLOW THE VEHICLE JUST RAN OUT OF FORWARD MOMENTUM AND THE MINIMAL BRAKING HELD THE VEHICLE. I BACKED OUT OF THE INTERSECTION, BRAKED, TESTED STOPPING AND THE BRAKES APPEARED FINE AT THAT TIME. I PLAN TO TAKE THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP TOMORROW. A MANUFACTURER REPRESENTATIVE INSPECTED THE VEHICLE. IT WAS DETERMINED THE PLACEMENT OF THE ACCELERATOR AND BRAKE PEDAL MET FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARDS AND NO CORRECTIONS WERE MADE.

WHILE TALKING TO THE MANUFACTURER REP ON THE PHONE SHE ADVISED THAT SHE HAD READ MEMOS FROM FORD ABOUT PROBLEMS WITH THE ALIGNMENT SPECS ON THE VEHICLE. TOTAL BRAKE FAILURE, 2005 F-150 SUPERCREW, KING RANCH 4X4 OCCURRED IN TRAFFIC ON 11 NOV 2005, AT A SPEED 34 MPH. WHEN I PRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL, THERE WERE NO BRAKES. THE SERVICE ADVISOR CALLED AND TOLD ME MY VEHICLE WAS READY LATE ON THE 12TH. I WENT TO THE DEALERSHIP TO PICKUP MY VEHICLE AND TALKED WITH THE MECHANIC THAT REPAIRED IT. I ASKED HIM WHAT HE DID AND HE TOLD ME HE RECONNECTED A VACUUM HOSE TO THE BACK OF THE MANIFOLD AND STATED IT HAD BLOWN OFF. I ASK HOW DID YOU SECURE IT. HE TOLD ME BY PUSHING IT BACK ONTO THE PORT IT CAME OFF OF. I ASK HIM WHY NOT INSTALL A CLAMP TO KEEP THIS FROM RECURRING. HE STATED HE WOULD HAVE TO REMOVE THE MANIFOLD TO ACCOMPLISH A CLAMP INSTALLATION. BEALE LINCOLN MERCURY REPAIRED MY VEHICLE THE BEST THEY COULD UNDER THE CIRCUMSTANCES. I FEEL THE MECHANIC SHOULD HAVE INSTALLED SOMETHING TO SECURE THE HOSE SO THIS DOESN'T HAPPEN AGAIN, BUT HE STATED HE DIDN'T THINK FORD WOULD PAY FOR REMOVING THE MANIFOLD TO INSTALL A CLAMP. I THINK FORD WOULD MUCH RATHER PAY FOR A MANIFOLD R & R INSTEAD OF A LAW SUIT FROM AN ACCIDENT, ESPECIALLY ONE WITH INJURIES OR DEATHS DUE TO A FAULTY DESIGN THAT RENDERS THE BRAKES USELESS. HAD TRUCK TOWED TO NEAREST DEALERSHIP. THEY REPORT THAT THEY CANNOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM AND DID MULTIPLE TESTS AND FOUND NOTHING. IT IS DANGEROUS TO DRIVE IN THIS CITY WITH UNRELIABLE BRAKES. I DON'T WANT TO HURT SOMEONE OR MYSELF. THE DEALERSHIP SHOWS LACK OF CONCERN. *NM
DT: CONTACT STATED WHILE TRYING TO STOP THE VEHICLE THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT ALL THE WAY TO FLOOR. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP THREE TIMES FOR THIS SAME PROBLEM. THE FIRST TIME THE DEALERSHIP BLED THE BRAKES. THIS DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. THE SECOND TIME THE DEALERSHIP CHANGED THE MASTER CYLINDER. THE PROBLEM WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR THE THIRD TIME, THEY COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE. *AK
I CURRENTLY OWN A 2005 FORD F-150 4X4 SUPERCREW TRUCK AND HAVE STARTED EXPERIENCING SOME GRINDING/ PULLING IN THE TRANSMISSION. I FIRST THOUGHT IT WOULD PROBABLY JUST GO AWAY AND NOW IT JUST GETS WORSE EACH TIME. THE PROBLEM CREATES A RATHER LOUD NOISE AND HAS GREATLY CONCERNED ME. I CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I PURCHASED THE TRUCK, RIVERTOWN FORD/ COLUMBUS,GA, AND I DISCOVERED THAT THIS PROBLEM SEEMS TO BE WIDE SPREAD WITH THE F-150. I AM IN PROCESS OF TRYING TO SOLVE THIS PROBLEM NOW. FORD MOTOR CO. NEEDS TO ISSUE A RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE. *NM
