TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 FORD F-150. WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE CONTACT HEARS A THUMPING NOISE. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE SOLENOID NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 43,000.
COMPLETE POWER BRAKE FAILURE.I TURNED ON MY ENGINE, HEARD A LOUD POPPING SOUND, DROVE FORWARD A FEW FEET AND DISCOVERED THE POWER BRAKES INOPERABLE. NO WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON BEFORE OR AFTER THE INCIDENT. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE NEAREST FORD DEALERSHIP --OLYMPIC LINCOLN MERCURY SEATTLE-- AND THEY REPAIRED IT UNDER WARRANTY. THEY SAID A POOR CONNECTION OF A PRESSURE LINE UNDER THE FUEL RAIL CAUSED THE PROBLEM. THEY SAID NO RECALLS HAD BEEN ISSUED. THEY HAD NO EXPLANATION FOR WHY THE WARNING LIGHTS DID NOT COME ON. THIS INCIDENT HAPPENED APPROXIMATELY 4 MONTHS AGO. I DON'T HAVE THE PAPERWORK IN HAND. IF NEEDED I CAN PROVIDE THE EXACT DATE. THE DATE ABOVE IS A QUESTIONED. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 FORD F-150. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH, THE CONTACT'S FOOT BECAME STUCK TO THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WHEN HE ATTEMPTED TO APPLY THE BRAKE. THE VEHICLE FAILS TO BRAKE PROPERLY UNLESS THE PEDAL IS TOUCHING THE FLOOR. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF FAILURE. WHEN TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL, THE CONTACT HEARS A SQUEALING NOISE AND IT BECOMES DIFFICULT TO MANEUVER. THE DEALER REPLACED THE POWER STEERING PUMP, BUT THE SQUEALING NOISE IS STILL AUDIBLE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE IS 37,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 9,346. THE CONSUMER STATED THE BRAKE AND GAS PEDAL WERE DESIGNED TOO CLOSE TOGETHER. THE CONSUMER HAS MISTAKENLY HIT THE GAS PEDAL WHEN TRYING TO BRAKE. THE MASTER CYLINDER HAD AN INTERNAL LEAK. THE MUFFLER HAD A LEAK. UPDATED 06/06/07. *JB
DRIVER''S SIDE EXTERIOR MIRROR VIBRATES WHEN GOING DOWN THE ROAD. THIS DISTRACTS THE DRIVER''S VISION AND COULD CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. IT GIVES YOU THE FALSE IMPRESSION THAT THERE IS A VEHICLE MOVING INTO YOUR BLIND SPOT. THIS HAS BEEN REPORTED TO THE DEALER THREE TIMES AND HAS NOT BEEN CORRECTED TO DATE.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 FORD F-150. THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED WITH ONLY 30 MILES. THE CONTACT ASKED THE DEALER PRIOR TO PURCHASING THE VEHICLE IF THERE WERE ANY RELATED RECALLS AND WAS ADVISED THAT THERE WERE NONE. THE CONTACT RECEIVED RECALL NOTICE 06C11 ON APRIL 7, 2007 STATING THAT THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER CALIBRATION HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE MANAGER CONFIRMED THAT THEY WERE AWARE OF THE RECALL NOTICE FIVE MONTHS PRIOR TO THE PURCHASE. HOWEVER, WAS NOT ADVISED TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT FOR THE REPAIRS. ALSO, THE DEALER STATED THAT THE MODULE BEHIND THE DASH WAS FAULTY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT CRUISE CONTROL WAS NEAR THE RELATED RECALL COMPONENT AND COULD CATCH ON FIRE. ON TWO PRIOR OCCASIONS DURING AN OIL CHANGE THE DEALER INDICATED THE INCORRECT MILEAGE. THIS COULD POTENTIALLY AFFECT THE VEHICLE'S WARRANTY, AND INDICATE THAT THE CONTACT HAS EXCEEDED THE ALLOTTED MILEAGE FOR THE NEXT OIL CHANGE. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGE WERE 10,500.*AK

WAS TRAVELING BACK FROM DECLO IDAHO FROM MY FATHERS PASSING AWAY ,HEADED FOR BOISE IDAHO AT 11:00 PM, JUST PASSED JEROME ABOUT TWO MILES WEST THE HEADLIGHTS AND ALL OTHER LIGHTS, INTERIOR AND EXTERIOR WENT OUT AT 75 MPH ON THE FREEWAY , IN THE VEHICLE I HAD MY SON 8 YEARS OLD , MY WIFE 40 YEARS OLD , MY MOTHER 65 YEARS OLD, AND MYSELF 44 YEARS OLD WE COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED BY A MERGING OR PASSING SEMI, BUT I QUICKLY SWITCHED THE HEADLIGHT SWITCH FROM AUTO TO HEADLAMP AND THE LIGHTS CAME BACK ON, SO I SWITCHED BACK TO AUTO AND WE TRAVELED 8 MILES AND THE LIGHTS WENT OUT AGAIN , SO ,I REPEATED THE SAME THING AGAIN BY TURNING THE SWITCH BACK TO HEADLAMP, AND THE LIGHTS ONCE AGAIN CAME BACK ON. THEN, I SWITCHED IT BACK TO AUTO AGAIN AND THEY STAYED ON FOR ABOUT 8 TO 10 MILES AND WENT OUT AGAIN . I SWITCHED THEM BACK AND LEFT THE SWITCH ON HEADLAMP AND CONTINUED OUR TRIP HOME FROM DECLO NO MORE PROBLEMS WITH SWITCH ON HEADLAMP MOD. ALSO, I HAD FOG LAMPS ON THIS ENTIRE TIME WHICH ENTAILED PULLING THE HEADLIGHT SWITCH OUT TO ENGAGE THE FOG LAMPS. THEN A WHILE LATER LIKE A WEEK I WENT TO WORK AT THE AIRPORT AT NIGHT GRAVES . I GOT TO WORK SHUT DOWN THE VEHICLE AND PUT THE KEYS ON THE FLOOR AS PER PAD TO OPEN VEHICLE, LOCKED VEHICLE BY PAD AND ENTERED THE BUILDING, ABOUT AN HOUR OR SO LATER RECEIVED A CALL FROM HORIZON EMPLOYEE THAT THERE WAS A VEHICLE WITH ITS LIGHTS ON IN THE PARKING LOT WHICH WAS MY VEHICLE. I RETURNED TO THE VEHICLE AND TURNED THE HEADLAMP SWITCH FROM AUTO TO HEADLAMP AND THE LIGHTS WENT OUT WHEN I LOCKED THE VEHICLE THIS TIME , AND THE SAME SCENARIO HAPPENED A COUPLE MORE TIMES . I RETURNED WITH THE VEHICLE TO LITHIA FORD OF BOISE, AND THEY HELD THE VEHICLE OVER NIGHT AND COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM , THEY HAVE DONE THIS A COUPLE TIMES ,AND DAMAGED THE DASHBOARD. *AK
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 FORD F-150. THE ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO VIBRATE WHILE IN TRAFFIC. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO DEALER, AMERICAN FORD. THE DEALER REPLACED THE # 6 FUEL INJECTOR. AT 9,670 MILES, THE SAME FAILURE RECURRED, AND THE DEALER REPLACED THE # 5 FUEL INJECTOR. AT 9,735 MILES, THE ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED AGAIN. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER FAILED BECAUSE OF THE FUEL. THE CURRENT MILEAGE IS 10,765, AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 7,462.*AK
TL* - THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 F150 FORD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN BACKING UP, AND APPLYING THE BRAKES IT WAS EASY TO PRESS THE GAS PEDAL AT THE SAME TIME. THIS HAPPENED THREE TIMES. ON ONE OCCASION HE WAS BACKING UP IN THE DRIVEWAY WHEN HE BUMPED THE GARAGE AND DID SOME DAMAGE TO THE GARAGE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE ONLY HAD 5600 MILES ON IT. THIS ONLY HAPPENED WHILE IN REVERSE. THIS OCCURRED WHEN THE CONTACT WAS WEARING WORK BOOTS. THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL AND THE BRAKE PEDAL ARE TOO CLOSE TOGETHER. *AK UPDATED 03/19/07. *JB
INSTRUMENT CLUSTER HAS A SHORT. PART COST WILL BE $500. PLUS LABOR. THIS MEANS CLUSTER WILL START A FIRE. EVENTUALLY. RIGHT NOW THE DASH IS INTERMITTENT. SOMETIMES THERE IS NO SPEEDOMETER, AC, ENGINE TEMPERATURE,CRUISE CONTROL, OIL PRESSURE, FAN, DEFROST. THESE GO ON AND OFF WHILE DRIVING. SINCE TRUCK IS ONLY ONE YEAR OLD, THIS MEANS FORD WANTS YOU TO PAY UP TO A THOUSAND DOLLARS A YEAR FOR AN INSTRUMENT CLUSTER. THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL. *JB
INSTRUMENT PANEL GOES OFF AND ON. TOOK TO DEALER FOR RECALL ON THIS PROBLEM #06C11. 24 HOURS LATER TRUCK DASH STILL INTERMITTENT. NO ODOMETER READING AT ALL NOW. SPEEDOMETER, AC, CRUISE CONTROL, TACHOMETER AND WATER TEMPERATURE GAUGE GO OFF AND ON WHILE DRIVING. TIME LENGTH RANDOM. VERY DISCONCERTING NOT TO KNOW HOW FAST YOU ARE DRIVING. PROBLEM IS INCREASING-ANYWHERE FROM 1 TO 5 TIMES IN AN HOUR OF DRIVING. *JB
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 FORD F150. THE VEHICLE WAS EQUIPPED WITH CONTINENTAL CONTI TRAC TIRES, AND TIRE SIZE P255-65-R17. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH. SUDDENLY, THERE WAS A SEVERE VIBRATION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THE TIRES MET THE TREAD REQUIREMENTS. THE CONTACT OBSERVED AT A LATER DATE THAT ALL FOUR TIRES EXHIBITED EXCESSIVE TREAD SEPARATION. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND OFFERED A DISCOUNT PRICE ON A SET OF TIRES. THE TIRES WERE REPLACED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN. THE DOT NUMBER A3K345MW4605. UPDATED 4/30/10 *CN THE TIRES HAD A VIBRATION FROM BEGINNING. THE CONSUMER STATED THE TREAD SEPARATED AS WELL AS THE BELTS ON TWO TIRES. UPDATED 05/17/10
TL* THE CONTACT WAS A PASSENGER IN A 2006 FORD F-150 EXTENDED CAB. THE CONTACT TRIED TO OPEN THE REAR PASSENGER DOOR AND HER HAND WAS CAUGHT IN AN AREA OF THE DOOR THAT BROKE HER RIGHT INDEX FINGER. FOUR STITCHES WERE REQUIRED DUE TO THE INJURY. THAT AREA OF THE DOOR COULD POTENTIALLY CUT OFF A CHILD'S FINGER. THE DOOR SHOULD HAVE A COVER, ANDWAS CURRENTLY A SAFETY RISK. THE PASSENGER DIDN'T HAVE THE SPECIFICS REGARDING THE VEHICLE. *AK
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 FORD F150. WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH WITHOUT WARNING, THE VEHICLE STALLED. SHE WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE AND CONTINUE DRIVING. THE FAILURE OCCURRED MULTIPLE TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO STATED THAT THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE ASSEMBLY CAUSED THE FAILURE TO OCCUR AND IT WAS REPLACED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 62928 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 63000.
WHILE PULLING INTO A PARKING SPOT AT A LOCAL GAS STATION(5 - 8 MPH), I APPLIED THE BRAKE TO STOP AND IT WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR. THE TRUCK JUMPED THE SIDEWALK AND CRASHED INTO THE BUILDING. AFTER PICKING THE TRUCK UP THE NEXT DAY, THE BRAKES WORKED FINE AND EVERYBODY THINKS I'M NUTS! CURRENTLY HAVING TRUCK ACCESSED BY DIFFERENT SOURCES. *JB
ALL FORD LIGHT TRUCKS, SUVS, AND CARS MANUFACTURED SINCE 1987 ALL THE WAY UNTIL 2006 NEED TO HAVE THE HEADLIGHTS ADJUSTED. I HAVE BEEN DRIVING FOR 24 YEARS AND I HAVE SEEN THESE VEHICLES SWITCH FROM HIGH TO LOW BEAMS AND THE LIGHTS ARE STILL TOO BRIGHT. THIS IS DANGEROUS BECAUSE IT BLINDS INCOMING TRAFFIC DRIVERS. THIS IS ALSO TRUE WHEN FORD PRODUCTS ARE DRIVEN BEHIND OTHER VEHICLE. THIS IS FAR TOO DANGEROUS AND THE PROBLEM NEEDS TO BE INVESTIGATED. *NM
MODERATE TO SEVERE WHEEL VIBRATION IN STEERING SINCE 2006. IT REMAINS UNREPAIRED AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS BY THE DEALERSHIP WHERE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED. I'M NOW BEING TOLD TO "LIVE" WITH THE SHIMMY AND IT SHOULD BE "EXPECTED". *TR
TL* - ON DECEMBER 20, 2006, THE CONTACT RECEIVED A CALL FROM THE POLICE DEPARTMENT STATING HIS 1995 FORD F150 AND THE CAR PORT WERE ON FIRE AT HIS RESIDENCE. THE VEHICLE CAUGHT FIRE UNDER THE HOOD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN PARKED FOR TWO MONTHS. A WITNESS STATED THAT THE VEHICLE SOUNDED AS IF IT WERE TRYING TO START ON ITS OWN. THE WITNESS LOOKED INTO THE VEHICLE AND CONFIRMED THAT NO ONE WAS IN IT AND CALLED 911. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THERE WERE NO RECENT REPAIRS TO THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE HAD APPROXIMATELY 210,000 MILES ON IT. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT STATED THE CAUSE OF THE FIRE TO BE A FAULTY SPEED CONTROL DEACTIVATION SWITCH. THE CONTACT HAS PICTURES, A FIRE DEPARTMENT REPORT AND THE VEHICLE STORED. *NM UPDATED 03/19/07. *JB
TL* - THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING AT 8 - 10 MILES PER HOUR, AND APPLIED THE BRAKES. THE CAR ACCELERATED AND CRASHED INTO A WALL AND WAS BADLY DMAGED ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. THE CONTACT STATES THAT THIS HAS HAPPENED BEFORE. WE WILL BE CONTACTING THE CALLER FOR MORE INFORMATION.
HAD A GENERAL AMERI-TECH GO FLAT (613 MILES ON IT) COULD FIND NO HOLES OR LEAK EXCEPT FROM TIRE/RIM SEAL. FORD DEALER CLAIMED IT HAD A NAIL HOLE IN SIDE WALL AND I HAD TO PAY FOR A NEW TIRE MYSELF. AGAIN I ATTEMPTED TO AIR TIRE BACK UP BUT IT WAS LEAKING FROM TIRE AT RIM. *JB
DURING ADVERSE WEATHER CONDITIONS (WINTER ICE AND SNOW, COLD TEMPS) MY WHEELS HAD ICE FREEZE IN THEM CREATING AN IMPOSSIBLE STEERING SITUATION. THE DESIGN OF THESE WHEELS ALLOWS THEM TO HOLD ABOUT AN INCH OF WATER ABOUT 3 INCHES IN LENGTH, WHEN THIS FREEZES THE RESULT IS AN OUT OF BALANCE WHEEL, ( IN THIS CASE 4 OUT OF BALANCE WHEELS) MAKING THEM WOBBLE (VIBRATE) UNCONTROLLABLY ON ICY ROADS. THIS CAUSED ME TO EXPERIENCE A TERRIFYING DRIVE FOR THE 17 MILES TO TOWN. I BELIEVE THIS COULD CAUSE AN ACCIDENT WITH A LESS EXPERIENCED DRIVER. *JB
MY 2006 FORD F-150 SUPER CAB PICKUP, 2X4, V-8 ENGINE, HAS A MAJOR PROBLEM WITH THE OUTSIDE MIRRORS FALLING TOWARDS THE GROUND CAUSING ME NOT TO BE ABLE TO PICK UP MOVING TRAFFIC WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY...I HAVE TAKEN THE TRUCK TO THREE DIFFERENT FORD DEALERSHIPS AND THEY REFUSE TO GIVE ME A TRADE-IN ON A TRUCK WITH POWER MIRRORS...I HAVE HAD (3) NEW SETS OF MIRRORS INSTALLED ON THIS TRUCK ALREADY SINCE I PURCHASED THE TRUCK IN JANUARY 2006....I HAVE HAD A RESTRICTION PUT ON MY DRIVERS LICENSE STATING THAT I MUST HAVE A RIGHT HAND MIRROR ON ALL VEHICLES I DRIVE DUE TO HAVING AMBLYOPIA IN MY RIGHT EYE....CAN'T SEE ANYTHING WHEN MY MIRRORS POINT DOWN TOWARDS THE GROUND...SHOULDN'T' HAVE TO TAKE A BEATING ON THE TRADE-IN SINCE I BOUGHT THE TRUCK IN GOOD FAITH BELIEVING THAT FORD WOULD STAND BEHIND ITS WARRANTY...THEY ARE NOT REIMBURSING ME FOR THE TIME OR GAS TO TAKE THE TRUCK IN FOR REPAIRS AND I BELIEVE THREE SETS OF MIRRORS ARE ENOUGH....I WANT THIS TO BE DOCUMENTED IN CASE THAT I HAVE A MINOR OR MAJOR ACCIDENT THAT IS INVOLVING A LIFE BECAUSE I COULDN'T SEE OUT OF MY MIRROR WHILE CHANGING A LANE..... *NM
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT HAS HAD TO REPLACE TWO FRONT PASSENGER SIDE TIRES WITHIN SIX MONTHS DUE TO EXCESSIVE WEAR ON THE OUTSIDE OF THE TIRES. THERE IS ALSO A FRONT END VIBRATION AND THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER TWICE. THE VEHICLE WAS ALSO ALIGNED TWICE AT THAT TIME. THE DEALER COULD NOT FIND ANY FAILURES AND THE VIBRATION AND TIRE FAILURE CONTINUES. THE TIRE INFORMATION WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 29,500 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 5,239.
A FEW DAYS LATER THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN AND THIS TIME IT WAS THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER, WHICH HAD TO BE REPLACED. WHEN THEY SAID THE OTHER CATALYTIC CONVERTER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. HAD THIS TRUCK IN THE SHOP 6 TIMES FOR ENGINE LIGHT. *TR
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 50 MPH, THE VEHICLE SHOOK VIOLENTLY, AND PULLED TO BOTH THE LEFT AND RIGHT. EXCESSIVE FORCE WAS REQUIRED TO KEEP THE VEHICLE MOVING STRAIGHT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A SERVICE DEALER ON 3 DIFFERENT OCCASIONS, WHERE THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE PROBLEM.
I WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT WHICH WAS CAUSED BY HITTING THE BRAKE PEDAL AND THE ACCELERATOR AT THE SAME TIME. I THOUGHT I WAS HITTING THE BRAKE WHEN AND HIT THE GAS AT THE SAME TIME CAUSING MY VEHICLE TO REAR END COLLIDE WITH THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME. SINCE I HAVE BEEN DRIVING THE VEHICLE THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES, THE GAS PEDAL IS TOO CLOSE IN HEIGHT TO THE BRAKE PEDAL. *NM
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THERE WAS A WHINING NOISE UNDER THE DRIVER SIDE FLOOR BOARD. THE NOISE SOUNDED AS THOUGH IT WAS COMING FROM THE SUSPENSION. THE DEALERSHIP WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE PROBLEM.
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE APPLYING BRAKE PRESSURE AT 5 MPH IN A PARKING LOT, THE BRAKE PEDAL EXTENDED ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR BOARD, AND THERE WAS AN INCREASED STOPPING DISTANCE WHICH RESULTED IN A REAR END COLLISION. NO INJURIES WERE SUSTAINED; THE CONTACT WAS WEARING A SEAT BELT. THE VEHICLE SUSTAINED MINOR DAMAGE. THE POLICE WERE NOT ALERTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHO WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM.
TL* - THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE THE 2006 FORD F-150WAS IN PARK HADTO DEPRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL TO SWITCH THE TRANSMISSION TO A DRIVE GEAR. ONCE HE HAD THE VEHICLE IN GEAR WITHOUT FOOT ON THE ACCELERATION PEDAL THE VEHICLE WILL ACCELERATE UNEXPECTEDLY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WILL ACCELERATE FOR A FEW SECONDS AND THEN RELEASE ITSELF. IT ACCELERATED WHEN VEHICLE WAS IN DRIVE OR REVERSE GEAR. CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP ON 11/01/06 AND THEY PUT A BOX THAT CONTACT STATED WORKED LIKE A BLACK BOX ON THE PLANE TO DIAGNOSE VEHICLE FAILURE. MY NEW F150 HAS A TERRIBLE SHUDDER IN THE STEERING WHEEL FOR THE FIRST 10 MILES AFTER THE CAR IS STARTED. IF IT IS COLD OUT, IT IS VERY DIFFICULT TO CONTROL THE VEHICLE ABOVE 50 MPH. FORD HAS REPLACED THE TIRES, BUT THEY REPLACED THEM WITH THE SAME PIRELLIS AND IT DID NOT HELP. *JB

NEW 2006 FORD F150 EXTENDED CAB, LESS THAN 2500 MILES, DRIVING IN MODERATE TO HEAVY RAIN WHEN WINDSHIELD WIPERS COMPLETELY FAILED. FORTUNATELY THE DRIVER, MY SON, WAS ABLE TO IMMEDIATELY CROSS 3 LANES OF TRAFFIC AND PULL OFF THE ROAD WITHOUT ACCIDENT OR INJURY. THIS IS A SERIOUS DEFECT / FAILURE THAT COULD HAVE RESULTED IN SEVERE INJURY OR DEATH. WIPER MOTOR WAS REPLACED AT A FORD DEALERSHIP THE NEXT DAY.
WHILE DRIVING I HEARD A POP AND THE TRUCK JERKED TO THE RIGHT. I HAD NO CONTROL OF THE STEERING. I HIT A LARGE TREE STUMP. IT CAUSED SEVERAL THOUSAND DOLLARS OF DAMAGE. WHILE THE INSURANCE APPRAISER AND BODY SHOP OWNER WERE LOOKING AT THE TRUCK THEY DISCOVERED THAT THE SCREW FROM THE TIE ROD INTO THE RACK AND PINION STEERING WAS STRIPPED. IT FELL APART TAKING AWAY ALL MY CONTROL OF STEERING THE TRUCK. FORD REFUSES TO EVEN LOOK AT THE TRUCK. *NM
TWO SEPARATE OCCASIONS I EXPERIENCED A FUEL INJECTOR FAILURE ON MY '06 F-150 WHILE TRAVELING ON I-65 ON 10-10-06 AND ON I-10 ON 10-14-06. I WAS TOLD BY A DEALER IN CULMAN ALABAMA THAT I COULD DRIVE IT ON TO MEMPHIS WITH THE ENGINE LIGHT ON. UPON ARRIVAL IN MEMPHIS DOBBS FORD TOLD ME THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG AND I HAD TO TAKE HIS WORD. ON MY TRIP BACK TO TAMPA THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN AND I HAD TO TOWED TO AMERICAN FORD IN TALLAHASSEE. THE REPLACED #6 FUEL INJECTOR. LATER, WHILE IN MEMPHIS #5 INJECTOR FAILED AND WAS REPLACED AT LANDERS FORD IN COLLIERVILLE. A FEW DAYS LATER THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN AND THIS TIME IT WAS THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER, WHICH HAD TO BE REPLACED. *JB
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE ATTEMPTING TO INSTALL A CHILD SAFETY SEAT IN THE VEHICLE, IT WAS NOTICED THAT THE REAR DRIVER SIDE UPPER SEATBELT BOLT WAS NOT TORQUED ALL THE WAY IN. THE CONTACT EXPRESSED THAT THE BOLT LOOKED LIKE IT WAS HAND TURNED 3 RESOLUTIONS. THERE WAS A PLASTIC COVER THAT COVERED THE BOLT HEAD AND USUALLY SAT FLUSH AGAINST THE VEHICLE'S STRUCTURE. IN THIS SITUATION, THE THREADS WERE VISIBLE, AND THE COVER DID NOT SIT FLUSH WITH THE BODY. THE VEHICLE WAS A RENTAL, AND THE CONTACT EXPRESSED THAT THERE MAY BE OTHER VEHICLES WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. THE MANUFACTURER WAS GOING TO BE CONTACTED AFTER FILING A COMPLAINT WITH THE NHTSA.
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE SIDE VIEW MIRROR GLASS ON BOTH MIRRORS DID NOT STAY STATIONARY WHILE DRIVING OVER ROUGH ROADS AT ANY SPEED. THE PROBLEMS PERSISTED, SO THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A SECOND SERVICE DEALER, WHO INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT A SECOND REPLACEMENT WOULD DO NO GOOD. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. DT*: THE CONTACT STATED TWO WEEKS AFTER PURCHASING THE VEHICLE WHILE ACCELERATING, THE ENGINE SPUTTERED AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED. WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED, SMOKE FLOWED FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS PULLED OVER AND THEN ERUPTED IN FLAMES. A POLICE REPORT WAS TAKEN AND THE FIRE DEPARTMENT EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE. THE TWO REAR TIRES AND TAILGATE WERE THE ONLY SALVAGEABLE PARTS. DUE TO THE EXTENSIVE DAMAGE, THE CAUSE OF THE FIRE WAS UNKNOWN. *AK
AFTER ONE WEEK OF OWNERSHIP, ON 9/2/06 THE TRUCK DIESELED WHEN STARTED FOR ABOUT 5 MINUTES BEFORE IDLING. IT COULD NOT BE TURNED OFF. WHEN IT FINALLY IDLED, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS LIT, IT IDLED ROUGH, KNOCKED WHEN ACCELERATING OR UNDER A LOAD AND THE GAS MILEAGE DROPPED AS I WAS DRIVING ABOUT 2 MILES PER GALLON. FROM THIS POINT ON, IT WAS HARD TO START. THIS HAPPENED WITH 1000 MILES ON THE TRUCK. IT WAS TAKEN FOR SERVICE AND THE DEALER TOLD US THAT THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER AND OXYGEN SENSOR WAS DEFECTIVE? THIS SEEMS TO BE THE RESULT OF THIS PROBLEM AND NOT THE PROBLEM AS UPSTREAM FUEL/AIR MIXTURE PROBLEMS CAUSE LEANING/RICHING WHICH WILL MANIFEST ITSELF AS CAT OR OXY SENSOR DEFECTS. THESE PARTS WERE REPLACED AND 1 WEEK LATER THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT HAS RE APPEARED. *NM

AFTER DRIVING TRUCK OFF NOTICED BRAKE PEDAL WAS SLIGHTLY SOFTER BUT NO LONGER FELT VIBRATION/SHUDDERING. AT APPROXIMATELY 9,000MI ONCE GAIN FELT SLIGHT SHUDDER/VIBRATION WHEN BRAKING. TOOK TRUCK TO DEALERSHIP WITH APPROXIMATELY 13,000MI AND WAS TOLD ROTORS WERE ONCE AGAIN WARPED. I HAD CERAMIC BRAKES INSTALLED @ APPROXIMATELY 24,000MI AND NEW ROTORS INSTALLED @ APPROXIMATELY 30800MI. WITH THE ROTORS INSTALLED SIGNIFICANT VIBRATION STILL OCCURS WHEN BRAKING AT ANY SPEED. SAFETY CONCERNS FOR SOME TIME NOW. APPARENTLY SHUDDERING NOT DUE TO WARPED ROTORS AS DEALERSHIP SUGGESTED. *TR
TONIGHT DRIVING DOWN TWO LANE HIGHWAY AT APPROXIMATELY 50 TO 55 MPH AND FOR NO APPARENT REASON DRIVERS REAR TIRE FAILED. THE SIDEWALL OF TIRE BLEW OUT. LUCKILY IT WAS ON THE REAR TIRE. THIS FORD F150 HAD ONLY 3300 MILES, I EXPECT TO GET MY TIRE REPLACED!!! I REALLY EXPECT TO HAVE ALL 5 TIRE REPLACED WITH ANOTHER BRAND. *JB
THE TRUCK WAS DELIVERED ON 8/12 IN LATE EVENING WHEN IT WAS COOL, ON THE NEXT DAY IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT THE AIR CONDITIONING DID NOT COOL PROPERLY. IT SHOWED NO COLDER THAN 60 DEGREES ON MAX AIR IN THE LEFT MIDDLE VENT WITH ALL OTHERS CLOSED AND WITH 95 DEGREES OUTSIDE TEMPERATURE. WHEN RETURNED TO THE DEALER ON THE NEXT MORNING, THE SERVICE ORDER SHOWED "NO TROUBLE FOUND". THEY DO HOWEVER SHOW THAT REFRIGERANT(R134) WAS ADDED WHICH IS ODD AS THERE WAS NO TROUBLE FOUND. LATER IT WAS ADMITTED TO ME THAT THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE AIR CONDITIONING IN THESE TRUCKS, PARTICULARLY THE RECIRCULATION SWITCH ON THE AIR CONTROL PANEL IN THE TRUCK WHICH DOES NOT STAY ENGAGED. IT SEEMS THAT YOU MUST RE ENGAGE THE SWITCH EACH TIME THE TRUCK IS STARTED ALTHOUGH THIS DOES NOT ALWAYS WORK. THIS IS DANGEROUS IF YOU ARE UNFAMILIAR WITH THE TRUCK, AS OUTSIDE AIR IS BEING BROUGHT IN AT ALL TIMES THUS KEEPING THE DEFROST FROM WORKING PROPERLY AS WELL. FOUL AIR OR ROAD FUMES COMING INTO THE TRUCK TO AN UN SUSPECTING DRIVER. I WAS TOLD THAT FORD IS AWARE THAT IT IS A PROBLEM, BUT HAS TO THIS DATE OFFERED NO SOLUTION. I BELIEVE BASED ON THE RESPONSE FROM FORD, THAT THIS HAS BEEN A PROBLEM THEY ARE AWARE OF ON 2006 TRUCKS AND THE PUBLIC IS UN AWARE. *NM

HE ALSO STATED THAT THE STEERING WHEEL VIBRATED WHEN DRIVING 70 MPH. THE DEALER CHANGED THE DRIVER SIDE FRONT TIRE, FRONT SHOCK ABSORBER, AND PERFORMED ANOTHER WHEEL ALIGNMENT. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK AND THE DEALER CALLED FORD MOTOR COMPANY. THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO MISSION VALLEY FORD FOR A WHEEL ALIGNMENT. THEY PERFORMED A WHEEL ALIGNMENT AND INFORMED HIM TO COME BACK FOR A FOLLOW-UP VISIT AFTER 1,000 MILES. THE CONTACT OBEYED AND THE VEHICLE WAS FOUND TO BE OUT OF ALIGNMENT ONCE AGAIN. MISSION VALLEY FORD CALLED FORD MOTOR COMPANY AND THE CONTACT WAS THEN ADVISED TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO SUNNYVILLE FORD. FORD AUTHORIZED FOUR NEW TIRES AND AN ALIGNMENT AT 18,456 MILES. HE WAS ADVISED ONCE AGAIN TO TAKE THE VEHICLE BACK AFTER 1,000 MILES FOR A FOLLOW-UP VISIT. THE FRONT TIRES WERE FOUND TO HAVE INSIDE EDGE WEAR AND THE DEALER ROTATED THEM AND PERFORMED ANOTHER ALIGNMENT. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK AT 19,640 MILES AND THEY ROTATED THE TIRES ONCE MORE. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK AFTER 1,000 MILES. AFTER THAT, HE WAS INFORMED THAT NOTHING ELSE COULD BE DONE. THE PURCHASE DATE WAS UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 21,056 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 4,076.

THE VEHICLE WAS TEST DRIVEN BY THE DEALER HOWEVER THEY COULD NOT DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM. I PURCHASED A 2006 F-150 ON JULY 6, 2006 WITH 9,177 MILES ON IT. ON JULY 10, 2006 I ALLOWED MY 24-YEAR-OLD SON TO TAKE THE TRUCK 700 FEET TO HIS MOBILE HOME TO TAKE A WASHER AND DRYER FROM MY HOME TO HIS. HE WAS WITHIN 3 FEET OF THE PORCH OF THE MOBILE HOME WITH THE TRUCK IN FOUR WHEEL DRIVE IN REVERSE WHEN THE GAS PEDAL STUCK AND KNOCKED HIS MOBILE HOME ABOUT 3 FEET OFF THE FOUNDATION. HE HAD JUST LET OFF THE BRAKE A LITTLE TO EASE BACK. THE TRUCK AND MOBILE HOME SEEM TO BE TOTALED. MY HUSBAND AND I WENT TO THE DEALERSHIP ON 7/12/2006 AND HE SAID HE WAS NOT GOING TO DO A D*** THING ABOUT IT AND THREATENED TO CALL THE POLICE. I TOLD HIM THE MANUAL SAID TO GO TO THE DEALERSHIP. ASKED IF I SHOULD CALL FORD MOTOR COMPANY. HE STATED THAT HE DID NOT MAKE THE VEHICLE AND HE DIDN'T KNOW WHAT TO TELL ME. WE PAID CASH FOR THE VEHICLE AND HAD IT TOWED TO A SECURE LOT UNTIL FURTHER INVESTIGATION. I ASKED MY INSURANCE COMPANY TO INVESTIGATE. WE PURCHASED THE PREMIUMCARE EXTENDED SERVICE PLAN. TRUCK RAN ROUGH WITH HAVE SMOKE FROM EXHAUST. TOOK TRUCK IN AT 41,000 TO FIX A BAD COIL ASSEMBLY, THEN AT 99,000 TO FIX A BAD COIL ASSEMBLY, INJECTOR AND O2 SENSOR. AT 111,000 MILES TWO MORE INJECTORS WENT BAD CAUSING TWO RODS TO BE BENT ALONG WITH ANOTHER BAD O2 SENSOR. SAME PROBLEM AS THE 2005 FORD THAT HAD A RECALL, BUT NOT THE 2006. TOTAL ESTIMATE TO FIX TRUCK $7500 PLUS TAX! FORD KNOWS ABOUT PROBLEM BUT WONT RECALL. *TR
I HAVE HAD MY TRUCK SERVICED BY THE DEALERSHIP THREE TIMES SINCE I PURCHASED IT IN JULY 2006. THE BED VIBRATES EXCESSIVELY WHEN TRAVELING ABOVE 45 MPH, ALMOST AS IF IT IS LOOSE. THERE IS ALSO A NOTICEABLE GROANING FROM THE REAR WHEN THE TRUCK GOES IN AND OUT OF GEAR. THE SERVICE MANAGER VERIFIED THE PROBLEM BUT DOES NOT KNOW HOW TO FIX IT. *NM
