TOOK TRUCK IN FOR ROUTINE 100,000 MAINTENANCE AND TUNE UP. SPARK PLUG STUCK IN THE CYLINDER HEAD AND ENDED UP GETTING CHARGED $3,500 FOR THE REPAIR. I AM READING ONLINE OF HOW WIDESPREAD THIS PROBLEM IS AND FORD SHOULD RECALL THESE SPARK PLUGS AND TAKE CARE OF THEIR CUSTOMERS. I WILL NEVER PURCHASE ANOTHER FORD IN MY LIFETIME IF THEY DON'T DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 FORD F-150. WHILE DRIVING 8 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING AFTER A SHARP RIGHT TURN. THE CHECK ENGINE INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO BE REPAIRED, BUT THE ISSUE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 158,818.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD SHOOK WHENEVER THE VEHICLE WAS IDLING. THE SHAKING INCREASED DURING ACCELERATION. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A DEALER WHO WAS UNABLE TO IDENTIFY THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE, BUT INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE SHAKING WAS A COMMON ISSUE WITH THE YEAR, MAKE, AND MODEL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 111,000.
WAS SITTING AT A RESTAURANT DRIVE THRU WITH FOOT ON THE BRAKE WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL SUDDENLY WENT TO THE FLOOR AND THE TRUCK STARTED MOVING. I WAS ABLE TO GET THE VEHICLE HOME AND BACK TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP THE NEXT MORNING VERY CAREFULLY AND BY PUMPING THE BRAKES TO GET THE VEHICLE TO STOP. WAS TOLD THAT THE BRAKE LINE HAD RUPTURED. LUCKILY, I WAS NOT TOWING MY 6000 POUND BOAT OR GOING DOWNHILL AT THE TIME OF THE FAILURE. I ASKED IF THIS WAS COMMON SINCE BRAKE LINES ARE NOT AN ITEM THAT ARE ROUTINELY INSPECTED OR REPLACED ON A NORMAL 17 POINT INSPECTION. I WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS UNCOMMON. I GOOGLED THE PROBLEM AND DISCOVERED THAT SEVERAL OTHER FORD F150 OWNERS OF VARIOUS MODEL YEARS HAD EXPERIENCED THE SAME ISSUE. LUCKILY, THERE HAVE BEEN NO REPORTS OF DEATHS OR SEVERE INJURY, BUT I AM REPORTING THIS TO HOPEFULLY PREVENT A DEATH FROM OCCURRING.
BRAKE LIGHT CONTINUOUSLY ON DUE TO FAULT IN CLUSTER PANEL. SAFETY ISSUE IN NOT KNOWING WHEN THERE ARE BRAKING PROBLEMS.
POWER STEERING HOSE RUST AND LEAKING-TRANSMISSION HOSES RUSTED AND LEAKING - SPARK PLUG BREAKING OFF WHEN HAVING THEM REPLACED
I JUST HAD MY TRUCK SERVICED AT SAYVILLE FORD & THEY FOUND TWO BROKEN FRONT SPRINGS. THE TRUCK HAS 142000 MILES. I CANT FIND ANY RECALL INFO ON NHTSA. CAN YOU ADVISE ME IF THIS IS A CURRENT PROBLEM BEING INVESTIGATED?
VEHICLE JERKED WHEN DRIVING DOWN HIGHWAY WHEN YOU REACH 45 TO 50 MPH. I WOULD LET OFF GAS AND THEN GIVE IT GAS AGAIN AND IT WOULD NOT JERK. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT APPEARED SO I TOOK IT TO FORD DEALERSHIP AND THEY RUN A CHECK . TOLD ME I NEED ANOTHER MOTOR. THIS TRUCK HAS 154000MILES. IT HAS NOT OVERHEATED.

IN ADDITION, THE REAR WINDOWS AND POWER LOCKS FAILED TO OPERATE AND THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURES. TOOK IN FOR A TUNE UP. BROKE OFF 7 SPARK PLUGS. GOT PIECE IN ENGINE. HAD TO TAKE ENGINE APART. TUNE UP WAS TO BE $535. NOW IT IS $2300.00
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 FORD F-150. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH, TWO DEER JUMPED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. THE CONTACT SLAMMED ON THE BRAKE PEDAL TO AVOID THE ANIMALS. AS A RESULT, THE VEHICLE DROVE INTO A DITCH AND ROLLED OVER THREE TIMES. NONE OF THE FRONTAL AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED AND THERE WERE NO INJURIES REPORTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED AND WAS BEING EVALUATED BY THE INSURANCE COMPANY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 114,000.

THE ACCELERATION LASTED FOR APPROXIMATELY 30 SECONDS. THE FAILURE RECURRED, BUT WHILE IN FORWARD GEAR APPROXIMATELY THREE TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, BUT THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 31,000.
TRUCK HAS ~116000 MILES. ENGINE RANDOMLY DIES WHILE IN MOTION (15 - 50 MPH) AND WHILE IDLING AT A STOP. NO POWER BRAKES OR STEERING UNTIL ENGINE IS RESTARTED. HAS OCCURRED DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AND IN THE CITY. MAINLY OCCURRED GOING STRAIGHT (NOT TURNING). IMMEDIATELY RESTARTS. NO ENGINE CODES OR CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. CAUSE UNKNOWN. THROTTLE BODY REPLACED WITHOUT FIXING CONDITION. "WRENCH" SYMBOL ON DRIVER DISPLAY HAS BEEN ON FOR A WHILE BUT CONDITION JUST STARTED.
AFTER COUNTLESS HOURS SPENT DIAGNOSING A DASH BRAKE LITE WARNING. THESE VEHICLES FACTORY DEFECT IS THE ELECTRONICS BOARD OR SPEEDOMETER CLUSTER. COUNTLESS PEOPLE ARE DRIVING WITH A BRAKE LIGHT ON WITH NOTHING POSSIBLY WRONG.WHEN SOMETHING DOES GO WRONG THEY MAY NOT HAVE A CLUE UNTIL THE VEHICLE HAS NO BRAKES.
ON 3 OCCASIONS MY VEHICLE ,OVER 4 MONTHS, HAS HAD A COMPLETE ENGINE FAILURE. THIS OCCURRED MOST RECENTLY WHILE I WAS EXITING THE INTERSTATE .WHEN THE ENGINE SHUTS DOWN SO DOES THE DASH AND BRAKE LIGHTS, IT ALSO STOPS POWER STEERING AND BRAKES. THIS TIME BY REACTING QUICKLY I WAS ABLE TO PUT THE VEHICLE IN NEUTRAL AND RESTART ,AFTER TURNING KEY TO OFF POSITION FIRST.
DROVE F-150 NORMALLY DURING WEEK. ON WEEKEND MORNING WHILE PULLING OUT OF DRIVEWAY STEERING WHEEL SUDDENLY AND SPORADICALLY BEGAN RESISTING EFFORT TO TURN CAUSING TRUCK TO SWAY UNPREDICTABLY DURING TURNS. RESISTING DRIVER INPUT. WAS TOO DANGEROUS TO DRIVE. AFTER REVIEWING BLOGS ONLINE I REALIZED A LOT OF OTHER PEOPLE WHO DRIVE THIS ERA F-150 HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. IT TURNS OUT THE LOWER STEERING COLUMN SHAFT CONTAINING THE U-JOINTS USES DEFECTIVE MATERIALS OR HAS BAD DESIGN. THE U-JOINTS ARE BINDING UP DURING DRIVING CAUSING THE DRIVER TO LOSE PARTIAL CONTROL OVER DIRECTION OF VEHICLE. TEMPORARY FIX MAY BE TO SPRAY WITH ANTI-CORROSIVE SPRAY, THEN LUBRICATING SPRAY, WHICH I DID. THIS LASTS ONLY A SHORT TIME SO THE LOWER SHAFT WITH U-JOINTS MUST BE REPLACED. FORD KNOWS OF THE DEFECT FOR THIS ERA F-150 AND HAS REDESIGNED THIS LOWER SHAFT TO ELIMINATE THE BINDING. THIS NEW DESIGN IS WHAT THEY SELL YOU AS A REPLACEMENT, NOT THE ORIGINAL DESIGN. IF YOU TRY TO BUY ONE ONLINE IT COSTS AT LEAST $245 FOR THE O.E.M. PART. IF YOU BUY ONE OF THE 2 AFTERMARKET KNOCKOFFS IT'LL SET YOU BACK APPROX $125. THE AFTERMARKET SHAFT ADVERTISING TOUTS THE FACT THAT IT HAS A DESIGN THAT WILL NOT BIND LIKE THE ORIGINAL FORD SHAFT DOES. THIS TRUCK HAD APPROX 69,700 MILES ON IT WHEN THE SHAFT BEGAN BINDING UP.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO LATCH THE FRONT DRIVER'S SEAT BELT. WHEN DRIVING ALONE, THE CONTACT WOULD LATCH HIS SEAT BELT INTO THE PASSENGER SIDE BUCKLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 135,000.

THE STEERING WHEEL FREEZES UP IN COLD WEATHER. MY MECHANIC DIAGNOSED A FAILED LOWER STEERING COLUMN THAT IS EXPOSED TO ROADWAY SPLASH AND CORROSION. THIS IS ALSO A TELESCOPING SECTION OF THE STEERING COLUMN DESIGNED TO PROTECT THE DRIVER IN CASE OF FRONTAL CRASH. SO OVERNITE IT FREEZES UP AND SLOWLY LOOSENS. WHILE DRIVING BECOMES STIF AND RESULTS IN DIFFICULT STEERING. 45,000 MILES ON ODOMETER.
LAST WEEK I STARTED NOTICING MY STEERING STARTING TO GET STIFF AND THE WHEEL DOES NOT RECENTER AFTER A STEER TO THE LEFT OR RIGHT. IVE HAD TO DO SOME QUICK MUSCLING TO RECENTER THE WHEEL. I'VE JUST FINISHED RESEARCHING SOME OTHER FORD FORUMS FOR THIS VEHICLE AND MANY OWNERS HAVE REPORTED THE SAME ISSUE WITH THE U JOINTS ON THE STEERING COLUMN RUSTING OR SEIZING. I WILL TRY SPRAYING SOME ANTI SEIZE ON THE U JOINTS TOMMOROW UNTIL I CAN GET IT TO A GARAGE.MY TRUCK HAS APPROXIMATELY 103,000 MILES ON IT . THIS IS DANGEROUS AND WITH THE AMOUNT OF COMPLAINTS ON THIS IT SHOULD BE RECALLED BY FORD TO CORRECT.
LAST WEEK TRUCK SUDDENLY BECAME VERY HARD TO TURN GOING AROUND CORNERS. STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP AND I ALMOST WENT OVER AN EMBANKMENT. HIT OR MISS SO I NEVER KNOW WHEN IT WILL GO OUT. THANKFULLY DID NOT HAVE MY 2 YOUNG CHILDREN! A WEEK LATER (11/29/15), TRUCK SUDDENLY STARTS TO VIOLENTLY SHAKE IF I GO OVER 50 MPH! SCARED THE DICKENS OUT OF ME! HOPING TO LIMP IT TO A DEALERSHIP AND TRADE IT IN. NOT SAFE FOR ME TO DRIVE. I HAVE PUT 20K MILES ON IT IN 2 YEARS AND HAS BEEN REGULARLY SERVICED. WHAT GIVES?!?
MY STEERING STARTED TO BIND WHILE DRIVING . COULD NOT MAKE FULL RIGHT OR LEFT TURNS. VERY UNSAFE. THE TRUCK HAS LEFT THAN 30,000 MILES. RARELY DRIVEN.
I HAVE A 2006 F-150 V8 4.6 THE HEATER COIL IN THE TRUCK HAS FAILED. AND THE WATER PUMP ALSO
CYLINDER #4 BLEW THE SPARK PLUG OUT, STRIPPING THE THREADS AS IT WENT. THIS IS THE 2ND CYLINDER TO DO THIS IN 6 MONTHS. WHILE DRIVING AT 45 MPH.
TRANSMISSION HAS A DELAY SHIFTING OR KIND OF GET STOCK THE TRANSMISSION WAS REPLACED AT 80000 MILES AND DOING IT AGAIN
WHILE MY VEHICLE WAS IN THE SHOP FOR A FOUR WHEEL ALIGNMENT THE MECHANIC NOTED THAT THE U-JOINT IN INTERMEDIATE STEERING SHAFT IS GOING BAD AND THEREFORE THE REASON THERE IS SOME PLAY IN THE STEERING WHEEL. COST TO REPAIR IS GOING TO BE APPROXIMATELY $700
FACTORY WELDS ON WHEELS FAILED CAUSING RAPID LOSS OF TIRE PRESSURE. THIS HAS HAPPENED TWO DIFFERENT TIMES ON TWO DIFFERENT WHEELS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 FORD F-150. WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH AND COMING TO A COMPLETE STOP, THE REAR DRIVER SIDE TIRE SEPARATED AND ROLLED INTO TRAFFIC. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE REAR ROTOR AND STUDS FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE TIGHTENED. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT HE HAD TO ALSO REPLACE THE STEERING RACK AND PINION DUE TO THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 136,000.
MORNING OF JULY 23,2015, I WAS DRIVING ABOUT 25 MPR SPEED WHEN NUMBER THREE SPARK PLUG BLOW OUT OF THE CYLANDERHEAD ON MY F-150 TRITON V8. TOOK IT TO THE LOCAL MACHANIC SHOP WALTON'S. THREE HOURS LATER, WALTON'S HAD TO REPLACE AND RESLEEVE NUMBER THREE CYLANDERHEAD AND REPLACED ELECTRICAL SPARKPLUG WIRE, PLUS REPLACED ALL EIGHT SPARK PLUGS. ALL AT A COST OF $543.00. NOT ONLY THIS HAPPENED TO ME BUT WALTON'S STATED THAT I WAS THE 10TH PERSON THIS WEEK THIS HAS HAPPENED TOO. I PRESENTED THE PART TO MY LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP WHERE WE BOUGHT THE TRUCK (HALL'S FORD MOTOR COMPANY) BRAND NEW IN 2006 AND PAID CASH TO THE SUM OF $30,000.00. I ASKED THEM IF THEY KNOW OF THIS PROBLEM WITH TRITON V8'S. THEY STATED THEY DID BUT NO KNOW RECALLS AND THEY TOO HAD SEVERAL REPAIRS COME IN FOR THE SAME THING IN THE PASS WEEK. THEY ALSO STATED THAT THE FORD MOTOR COMPANY WAS AWARE OF THIS MATTER BUT NEVER LET THERE CUSTOMERS KNOW ABOUT THIS PROBLEM YET BECAUSE THERE WAS NO RECALL ON FILE TO LET THEM KNOW. THIS THING WHERE THE SPARK PLUGS COME FLYING OUT OF AN ENGINE CAN BE VERY HAZARDS, IT COULD CAUSE A CRASH OR EVEN GIVE A PERSON A HEART ATTACK BECAUSE THE TRUCK SOUNDS LIKE WORLD WAR III GOING OFF UNDER THE HOOD AND IT MAY EVEN START A FIRE. THIS MATTER NEEDS TO BE TAKEN CARE OF BY FORD.
STEERING BECAME INTERMITTENTLY STIFF WHILE DRIVING. TRUCK HAD ABOUT 80000 MILES ON IT AND 9 YEARS OLD WHEN SYMPTOMS STARTED. STIFFNESS WOULD OCCUR SOMETIMES AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS WHEN I STARTED A LANE CHANGE, AND AT SLOW SPEEDS WHEN I WAS TURNING (FOR INSTANCE ON COMMUNITY STREETS). AS I WAS TURNING IT WOULD CYCLE FROM HARD TO REGULAR EFFORT, AS WOULD BE IF A UNIVERSAL JOINT WAS GOING BAD. MY NON-FORD MECHANIC DIAGNOSED IT AS A BAD LOWER STEERING SHAFT. I INSPECTED THE BAD SHAFT AND AGREED THAT ONE UNIVERSAL SHAFT WAS TIGHT AND THE OTHER WAS EXTREMELY TIGHT. $557 REPAIR.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR ROUTINE MAINTENANCE. WHILE AT THE INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, THE CONTACT WAS NOTIFIED THAT SEVEN OF THE EIGHT SPARK PLUGS IN THE VEHICLE WERE FRACTURED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT ONE OF THE FRACTURED SPARK PLUGS REMAINED IN THE CYLINDER HEAD. THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THE CYLINDER HEAD HAD TO BE REMOVED FROM THE ENGINE TO REMOVE THE FRACTURED SPARK PLUG. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE; HOWEVER, THE CONTACT WAS NOT OFFERED A REMEDY FOR THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 84,000.

THE VEHICLE FAILED TO RESTART AND WAS TOWED TO A MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT THE IGNITION SWITCH NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, THE FAILURE CONTINUED WITH A TICKING NOISE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNAVAILABLE.
IN JUNE 2015, THE AIR BAG LIGHT IN MY FORD F150 ILLUMINATED, INDICATING A PROBLEM. I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO A FORD DEALERSHIP. THEY TOLD ME THAT THE DEPLOYABLE RESTRAINT SYSTEM, SPECIFICALLY THE PRETENSIONER, HAD MALFUNCTIONED AND POSSIBLY WOULD FAIL TO FUNCTION AS INTENDED IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH. THE SERVICE TECHNICIAN INDICATED THAT THE RESTRAINT SYSTEM IS CONNECTED TO MY AIR BAGS, WHICH MIGHT FAIL TO WORK IN A CRASH, INCREASING THE RISK OF INJURY. AFTER PAYING THE DIAGNOSTIC FEE, I WAS GIVEN A REPAIR ESTIMATE OF AN ADDITIONAL $392.21. NOT WANTING TO RISK INJURY IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH, I HAD THE PRETENSIONER REPLACED. THE BUCKLE PRETENSIONER IS A CRITICAL SAFETY DEVICE THAT SHOULD NEVER FAIL UNDER NORMAL USE. MY VEHICLE HAS NEVER BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT. IT IS MY UNDERSTANDING THAT SOME PRETENSIONERS HAVE FAILED DUE TO SIMPLE SEAT POSITION ADJUSTMENTS, WHICH, TO ME, IS EVIDENCE OF A POOR DESIGN. FORD HAS RECENTLY RECALLED MANY 2013 ' 2014 VEHICLES FOR POORLY MADE PRETENSIONERS, RECOGNIZING THE SAFETY ISSUE SURROUNDING THEM. I REQUESTED THAT FORD REIMBURSE ME FOR THE COST OF THE PRETENSIONER BUCKLE; HOWEVER, FORD DENIED THIS REQUEST. I HAVE THE ORIGINAL PRETENSIONER AND ALL RECEIPTS AVAILABLE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME TIGHT AND LOOSENED UP AT RANDOM TIMES WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE DRIVESHAFT WAS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 160,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO SHIFT THE GEAR INTO DRIVE OR REVERSE, ONLY NEUTRAL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE CLUTCHES AND BANDS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 28,854. UPDATED 7/16/15*CN THE CONSUMER STATED THE TAIL SHAFT HOUSING HAD A HAIRLINE FRACTURE/CRACK WITH. THE REPAIRMAN BELIEVED THE PART WAS DEFECTIVE. WHILE IN PASSING LANE OF THREE LANE WEST BOUND ROUTE 3 ENGINE SHUT DOWN, HAD TO NEGOTIATE TWO LANES OF HIGHWAY TRAFFIC TO GET TO SHOULDER WHILE COASTING. VEHICLE TOWED TO REPAIR SHOP. FUEL PUMP CONTROL MODULE FAILURE. MODULE CORRODED, HOLES THRU BACK OF MODULE WHERE IT MOUNTS TO FRAME. *TR
2006 F-150 LOST ALL POWER FUNCTION WHILE TRAVELING DOWN THE INTERSTATE. I LOST POWER STEERING AND BRAKES. THE CAUSE IS A CORROSIVE FUEL PUMP CONTROL MODULE. AFTER TAKING WITH MY LOCAL FORD DEALER I WAS MADE AWARE THAT THIS IS MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE AND ONE THAT FMC REFUSES TO RECOGNIZE. THIS INCIDENT COULD HAVE RESULTED IN A MAJOR ACCIDENT. I WAS LUCKY ENOUGH TO BE ABLE TO SIGNAL TO THE CARS AROUND ME THAT I WAS HAVING TROUBLE - HOWEVER I WAS STILL ALMOST REAR ENDED TWICE BEFORE BEING ABLE TO PULL OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 10 MPH, THE DRIVE SHAFT SEPARATED FROM THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT WHO WAS A CERTIFIED MECHANIC REPAIRED THE REAR AXLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 106,000.

FORD'S IWE SOLENOID HAS A TENDENCY TO MALFUNCTION DUE TO A POOR DESIGN. TSB 06-8-15 WAS ISSUED TO REPLACE THESE SOLENOIDS, BUT ONLY IF THERE WAS A PROBLEM AND ONLY IF IT WAS GIVING A PROBLEM. MY VEHICLE WAS IN STORAGE FOR 5 YEARS AND AFTER IT WAS BROUGHT OUT AND TO NY, THE WATER LEAKED ON THE SOLENOID DUE TO THE INADEQUATE DESIGN, CAUSING THE IWE'S TO MALFUNCTION. I STILL DON'T KNOW WHAT EXACTLY IT DID BUT DRIVING THE CAR DOWN THE ROAD, IT CAUSED ME TO FEEL LIKE I WAS DRIVING OVER SMALL SPEED BUMPS WITH THE FRONT DRIVERS SIDE TIRE. I'M AFRAID THAT IF THIS FAILED AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED IT COULD CAUSE THE IWE TO ENGAGE AND POSSIBLY LOCK UP ONE OF THE FRONT TIRES. *TR
VEHICLE STARTED LOSING POWER AND UNABLE TO RUN CORRECTLY. TOOK TO GARAGE AND FUEL PUMP DRIVE MODULE WAS RUSTED WITH CIRCUITS BEING EXPOSED TO THE SALT AND MOISTURE ELEMENTS WHERE THERE WAS A LARGE HOLE IN BACK OF UNIT. NEW ONE WAS INSTALLED WITH SPACERS TO HELP PREVENT SALT AND MOISTURE FROM COLLECTING WHERE BACK OF MODULE MOUNTS ONTO AXLE BRACKET. VEHICLE RAN BETTER BUT ALSO HAD TO INSTALL NEW COIL DUE TO A CYLINDER MISSING. RUNS OK WITH WORK THAT WAS PERFORMED. MODULE SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN INSTALLED AGAINST THE BRACKET SO SALT AND MOISTURE COULD COLLECT AND RUST IT SO BADLY AND CAUSE IT TO FAIL. FORD SHOULD PAY FOR THIS REPAIR DUE TO THE WAY IN WHICH THE MODULE WAS INSTALLED SO IT WOULD RUST SO BADLY. *TR
WHILE DRIVING INSTRUMENT PANAL SHUTS DOWN, RADIO SHUTS OFF, AIRBAG INDICATOR COMES ON, WINDOWS DON'T WORK, IF SHUT OFF LASTS MORE THAN 5 MINUTES SEAT BELT CHIME GOES OFF, TWICE WORD TEST CAME ON IN MILEAGE INDICATOR WINDOW. SOMETIMES GOES ON AND OFF WHILE TURNING OR HITTING BRAKES, OTHER TIMES JUST WHILE DRIVING.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 72,000. NOTICED STEERING WHEEL VERY HARD TO TURN. CHECKED POWER STEERING FLUID WHICH WAS OK. RESEARCHED PROBLEM ONLINE AND FOUND DOZENS OF SIMILAR COMPLAINTS REPORTED ON FORD CUSTOMER FORUMS AND ELSEWHERE ONLINE MENTIONING THAT THE U-JOINT(S) ON THE LOWER STEERING SHAFT POSSIBLY RUST AND CORRODE AND BECOME VERY STIFF. WHEN TURNING CORNERS WHEEL DOES NOT READILY RECENTER ITSELF. FEARFUL THAT STEERING JOINTS COULD FAIL, SEIZE OR BREAK RESULTING IN A COMPLETE LOSS OF STEERING AND SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH. SAW THAT FORD REDESIGNED THE STEERING SHAFT AFTER 2006 AND THE NEW FORD PART LOOKS MUCH DIFFERENT THAN THE ORIGINAL SHAFT IN MY 2006 TRUCK. SPRAYED SOME PENETRATING OIL ON BOTH U-JOINTS YESTERDAY AND STEERING WAS NOTICEABLY MUCH EASIER WITHIN 5 MINUTES. THEN SPRAYED SOME LIQUID WRENCH LUBRICATING OIL (LIGHTWEIGHT AEROSOL OIL) ON BOTH JOINTS AND DROVE THE TRUCK. STEERING WAS LIKE NEW AND STEERING WHEEL EASY TO TURN. DO NOT KNOW HOWEVER IF THIS "OILING FIX" WILL LAST. FORD IS AWARE OF THIS ISSUE AS THEY REDESIGNED THE STEERING SHAFT/U-JOINTS AND HAD HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS. DEFECT IN DESIGN OF CRITICAL STEERING COMPONENT, FORD IS AWARE AND REDESIGNED STEERING SHAFT AND U-JOINTS. NOTE: OTHER CUSTOMERS WITH NON-FORD VEHICLES AND FORD VEHICLES OTHER THAN THE F-150 HAVE REPORTED NUMEROUS SIMILAR COMPLAINTS. *TR
THE SEAT GETS WHOLE BECAUSE OF MEDAL BAR AND NOT ENOUGH CUSHION ON THE SIDE OF IT SO CAUSES IT HOLES. *TR

WAS ABLE TO MAKE IT TO A PARKING LOT BEFORE IT STALLED AGAIN. TOWED TO A DEALERSHIP WAS INFORMED IT WAS A CORRODED FUEL CONTROL MODULE. DOING A LITTLE RESEARCH CONFIRMED THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM AND SHOULD BE ADDRESSED AS A POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS SITUATION COULD EASILY OCCUR. *TR
