INADVERTENT AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT WHILE STOPPED, NO COLLISION OR INCIDENT ON MY 2006 F-150 TRUCK. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 FORD F-150. WHILE TRAVELING IN 4-WHEEL DRIVE AT 30-50 MPH THERE WAS AN UNUSUAL CLUNKING NOISE COMING FROM UNDER THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED AND THERE WERE NO PRIOR WARNINGS. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 54,000. UPDATED 8/2/10 *CN THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE PULLED SEVERLY TO THE LEFT AND RIGHT. DURING ROUTINE MAINTENANCE SPARK PLUG CHANGE SIX OF THE OEM INSTALLED SPARKPLUGS BROKE OFF IN THE CYLINDER HEAD OF THE ENGINE. FORD DEALER ADMITS TO HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THIS DESIGN ENGINE AND STATES THIS OCCURS OFTEN. FORD DEALER STATED THAT FORD ADMITS AN ISSUE WITH THIS DESIGN SPARKPLUG AND HAS A TSB DETAILING THE PROCEDURE FOR BROKEN PLUG REMOVAL BUT HAS ISSUED NO FORMAL RECALL. DEALER ADVISED THAT FORD ALSO HAS A "SPECIAL TOOL" DESIGNED FOR THIS 5.4 3 VALVE SERIES MOTOR THAT IS ENGINE SPECIFIC TO REMOVE THE BROKEN PIECE OF THE SPARKPLUG BECAUSE THIS HAPPENS SO OFTEN. ALL BUT ONE OF THE BROKEN PLUGS WAS ABLE TO BE REMOVED USING A SPECIALTY TOOL PURCHASED AT AN AUTOMOTIVE PARTS STORE. FORD DEALER WAS UNABLE TO GET THE LAST BROKEN PLUG EXTRACTED FROM CYLINDER HEAD WITH THEIR "SPECIAL TOOL". ENGINE NEEDED TO BE DISSEMBLED AND CYLINDER HEAD REMOVED SO THAT THE BROKEN PIECE COULD BE EXTRACTED. THIS REPAIR COST $1708.00 TO COMPLETE. ALONG WITH $85.00 DIAGNOSTIC FEE TO TELL ME THEY COULD NOT GET THE BROKEN PIECE OUT. THE REPAIR TOOK TWO WEEKS TO HAVE COMPLETED. I FEEL THAT FORD SHOULD ISSUE A RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE AND THEY SHOULD REIMBURSE ME FOR MY COSTS DUE TO THEIR FAULTY DESIGN FLAW. *TR
BRAKES FAILED ON PICKUP WHILE DRIVING. REPAIR SHOP DETERMINED MASTER CYLINDER WAS FAULTY. *TR
WHEN DRIVING VEHICLE AT ALL DIFFERENT SPEEDS, STEERING BECOMES DIFFICULT AND WHEEL RESISTS TURNING. AFTER TURN IS MADE WHEEL DOES NOT RETURN BY ITSELF BUT NEEDS TO BE FORCED BACK WITH GREAT RESISTANCE. CONDITION WENT AWAY FOR A MONTH BUT THEN RETURNED IN OCTOBER OF 2011, AND HAS BEEN DIFFICULT SINCE. VERY DANGEROUS. *TR
THE DRIVER'S SIDE WINDOW REGULATOR ON MY 2006 FORD F150 HAS BROKEN THREE TIMES, I WAS ABLE TO GET TWO REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY, BUT THE THIRD TIME HAPPENED THIS LAST MONTH, I AM REPLACING IT TODAY. I BELIEVE FROM MY EXPERIENCE, AND FROM THOUSANDS OF FORUM ENTRIES CITING THE SAME THING, THAT FORD SHOULD RECALL THIS PART. THIS PART IS GOING TO COST ME APPROXIMATELY $400.00 TO REPAIR. *TR
MY 2006 FORD F-150 HAD A SPARK PLUG BROKE OFF AND NOW THE ONLY WAY TO FIX THIS IS TO REMOVE THE HEAD APPROX 3000.00 TO CORRECT. FORD SAYS THEY ARE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM BUT THEY REFUSE TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. THE VEHICLE ONLY HAS 45,000 MILES AND THE TRUCK IS NOW NON DRIVABLE. WHY AREN'T THEY BEING HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR SOMETHING WHEN THEY KNOW IT IS A PROBLEM WITH THIS STYLE VEHICLE. *TR
GAS POURS OUT OF THE FILLER NECK AFTER EVERY FILL UP. I DO NOT CLICK EXTRA TO "TOP IT OFF" AND STILL GAS POURS OUT OF THE NECK WHEN I REMOVE THE PUMP FROM THE FILLER NECK. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 FORD F-150. WHILE DRIVING HIGHWAY SPEEDS, THE WRENCH WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE VEHICLE THEN DECELERATED, LOST POWER AND STALLED. THE DEALER AND THE MANUFACTURER WERE CONTACTED BUT DENIED ANY ASSISTANCE WITH REPAIRS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 30,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 52,000.
GLAZE ON REAR END CLUTCH CAUSING TRUCK TO DRIVE INCORRECTLY...CONTACTED COMPANY AND THEY HAD A POSSIBLE RESOLUTION THAT DIDN'T WORK....WORRIED THAT THE REAR END WILL LOCK UP WHEN DRIVING CAUSING A WRECK!! *TR
FORD F-150 FX4 140,000.0 MILES. BRAKE LIGHT HAS BEEN ON FOR SEVERAL YEARS STARTING AROUND 2010 WITH 76,000.0 MILES. THE BRAKES WERE REPLACED AND FLUSHED MULTIPLE TIMES SINCE THE PROBLEM STARTED. REPLACED BRAKE CABLE E-BRAKE SWITCH ETC... EVERYTHING POINTS TO THE CLUSTER AND THERE ARE MULTIPLE WEBSITES THE VERIFY THE SAME EXACT PROBLEM WITH THE BRAKE LIGHT BEGINNING FROM 2004-2010. IN SOME STATES THIS IS AN INDPECTABLE ITEM ADDING ADDITIONAL AND MANDATORY REPAIRS TO BE MADE. THE CLUSTER REPAIR PART COST ANYWHERE FROM $400.00-$600.00 AND WITH LABOR COULD RUN WELL OVER $1000.00 PENDING ON THE MODEL OF THE F-150. MY BOTTOM LINE IS THAT THIS ISSUE HAS GONE WITHOUT A RECALL FROM FORD OR THE NHTSA.
BOTH DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE REVIEW MIRRORS ARE NOT STATIONARY. THEY ARE LOOSE AND PIVOT WHEN CLOSING A DOOR. DRIVER'S SIDE ALSO VIBRATES WHILE DRIVING MAKING IT DIFFICULT TO SEE OUT OF. THIS HAS BEEN REPORTED TO FORD DEALERSHIP WHERE THEY STATED "IT IS JUST A POOR DESIGN WITH A 'BREAK-AWAY FEATURE' THAT APPEARS TO HAVE BEEN 'OVERWORN' BY PREVIOUS OWNER, POSSIBLY DUE TO USE OF THINNER GASKETS IN MIRROR ASSEMBLY". WHEN ASKED ABOUT LONGEVITY AND ANTICIPATED LIFESPAN OF MIRRORS PRIOR TO FAILURE DUE TO WEAR, THEY STATED IT WAS NOT A WEAR-PART, HOWEVER, THEY ALSO DENIED IT BEING DEFECTIVE AND QUOTED ME $1200 FOR PARTS AND LABOR TO REPLACE. WARRANTY WOULD NOT COVER SINCE THE DEFECT WAS MECHANICAL AND NOT ELECTRICAL. THE DEALERSHIP ALSO STATED THE MIRRORS THAT WOULD BE INSTALLED WOULD BE EXACTLY THE SAME AND THERE WAS NO GUARANTEE THIS WOULD NOT HAPPEN AGAIN. I WAS UNABLE TO GET A CORRECTIVE ACTION OR REASONING WHY MY PARTICULAR MIRRORS ARE NOT SATISFACTORY, BUT I HAVE HEARD THIS IS NOT A NEW PROBLEM FOR THIS VEHICLE. LOOKING AT BOTH OF MY MIRRORS, IT IS OBVIOUS THEY SHOULD HAVE SOME SORT OF LOCKING MECHANISM (SNAP-IN-PLACE DESIGN) LIKE MOST VEHICLES. THERE HAS NOT BEEN ANY ACCIDENT INVOLVED WITH THIS SAFETY ISSUE. THIS IS TO DOCUMENT A KNOWN PROBLEM FOR AWARENESS PURPOSES AND TO POTENTIALLY RECEIVE A CORRECTIVE ACTION FOR MY FAULTY MIRRORS. SUBJ: BROKEN GAS TANK AT SEAMS ON MY 2006 FORD F150 TRUCK I HAVE A MAJOR PROBLEM WITH MY 2006 FORD F150 FUEL TANK LEAKING AT THE MANUFACTURES PLASTIC WELDED SEAMS. I BOUGHT MY LAST 3 TRUCKS FROM NORTH COUNTY FORD, IN VISTA, CALIFORNIA. MY 3RD TRUCK WAS A BRAND NEW 2006 FORD F150, AND ALL 3 TRUCKS I BOUGHT FROM NORTH COUNTY FORD, I PAID EXTENDED WARRANTY ON EACH ONE OF THEM, AND THAT WAS OVER $9,000, AND I NEVER USED 1 PENNY OF IT, I NEVER NEEDED ANY WARRANTY OR EXTENDED WARRANTY WORK UNTIL NOW, FOR THE FAULTY LEAKY PLASTIC GAS FUEL TANK UNDER MY TRUCK. I COULD NOT FIGURE OUT WHY MY GAS GAUGE SAID LOW FUEL, WHEN I HAD JUST PUT FUEL IN THE TRUCK THE SAME DAY. WHEN I STARTED MY TRUCK, I SMELLED GAS, SO I GOT OUT OF THE TRUCK, AND COULD SEE IT COMING OUT OF THE FUEL TANK AREA. I WENT TO THE GAS STATION WITH THE LOW FUEL LIGHT ON, BECAUSE I WANTED TO GET HOME BEFORE SOMETHING BAD HAPPENED, AND I PUT MORE FUEL IN THE TRUCK, AND JUST GOING ONLY 15 MILES THE GAS DISAPPEARED AND THE LOW FUEL LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN, BUT I DID GET IT HOME. I JACKED UP THE TRUCK AND STARTED IT, AND CLIMBED UNDERNEATH, AND WAS SURPRISED TO SEE THAT IT WAS A PLASTIC BLACK FUEL TANK, NOT STEEL OR METAL. I WAS JUST LIKE A CHEAP SWIMMING POOL THAT YOU WOULD PUT TWO OF THEM TOGETHER, AND YOU WOULD SEAL IT IN THE MIDDLE TO MAKE A TANK. BUT THE SEAL IS NOW BROKE, AND IM TRYING TO PUT SOME PLASTIC SEAL ON IT, BUT EVERYTHING I READ ON THE INTERNET, TOLD ME FORD WAS ALREADY AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM, BECAUSE I PUT AN AD UP ON CRAIGSLIST UNDER THE AUTOMOTIVE SECTION, ASKING MECHANICS FOR HELP ON WHY THIS WOULD HAPPEN TO SUCH A NEW TRUCK. ITS NOT LIKE I RAN OVER SOMETHING, AS THAT WOULD OF MADE A HOLE IN THE TANK, AND I COULD UNDERSTAND THAT BEING MY FAULT, BUT THE SEAMS COMING APART, AND THE GAS JUST GOING ALL OVER THE GROUND. THIS IS AN EXTREME FIRE HAZARD, AND DONT BE SURPRISED IF THIS THING CATCHES ON FIRE ON ME, HOPEFULLY NOT?
STEERING BECAME VERY HARD TO TURN. WOULD NOT CENTER AFTER TURNING, WOULD LOCK ON WET ROADS. I HAD TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL BY HAND TO GET IT BACK TO CENTER. I CHECKED TO FIND THE U JOINTS ON STEERING SHAFT WHERE RUSTED SO I LUBED WITH OIL. STEERING BECAME MUCH BETTER. I WENT TO A LOCAL FORD DEALER THEY SAID THERE WAS NO RECALLS AND KNEW OF NO PROBLEMS WITH THE STEERING ON THE F150'S. THE FORD DEALER WANTED ME TO LET THEM TAKE EVERYTHING APART BUT SAID IT COULD RUN INTO A LOT OF MONEY DEPENDING ON WHAT THEY FIND. SO FOR OVER THREE YEARS I'VE BEEN OILING THE JOINTS ON THE SHAFT AND LIVING WITH THE PROBLEM. WAITING FOR TOTAL FAILURE TO SUE FORD FOR POOR DESIGN OF THE STEERING COLUMN SHAFT JOINTS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 FORD F-150 EQUIPPED WITH 4 WHEEL DRIVE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE REAR DIFFERIENTIAL WAS NOT FUNCTIONING CORRECTLY AND THE REAR WHEELS FELT AS IF THEY WERE SLIDING FROM THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. ALSO, THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE SEEMED TO HAVE NO TRACTION. HE HAD THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL REPLACED. THE CONTACT'S MAJOR CONCERN WAS THAT ONE COULD LOSE CONTROL OF THE ENTIRE VEHICLE IF THE REAR FUNCTIONED IN THIS MANNER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 38,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 40,000.
WHILE BRAKING THE MOTOR SURGED CAUSING ME TO HAVE TO SWERVE TO AVOID HITTING ANOTHER CAR. EVEN WITH MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE THE TRUCK DID NOT FULLY RESPOND. *TR

WE HAVE A CORRODED ABS BRAKE WIRE ON OUR 2006 FORD F150 TRUCK. THE ABS LIGHT CAME ON AND STAYED ON. WE TOOK IT TO OUR DEALER AND WAS TOLD IT WAS NOT COVERED UNDER OUR EXTENDED WARRANTY DUE TO CORROSION. I CALLED FORD ESP AND WAS TOLD THE SAME THING (DOES NOT STATE THIS IN COVERAGES). WHEN I ASKED ABOUT ANY COVERED PART NOT BEING COVERED IF IT HAS ANY CORROSION ON IT, I WAS TOLD IT DOES NOT COVER CORROSION. I LIVE IN NORTHERN OHIO AND THIS IS IMPOSSIBLE IF THE VEHICLE IS MORE THE A FEW YEARS OLD. WE BELIEVE THAT THIS IS A BRAKE SAFETY ISSUE AND THIS WIRE SHOULD NOT HAVE CORRODED THIS SOON. *TR
MY 2006 F-150 WITH THE 4.6L MOTOR EJECTED A SPARK PLUG FROM THE CYLINDER WITHOUT WARNING. I WENT TO CRANK THE VEHICLE ON 2/19/10, AND THERE WAS A HORRENDOUS KNOCKING OR TAPPING SOUND. I WAS ON MY WAY OUT OF TOWN, SO I DID NOT HAVE TIME TO DO A THOROUGH CHECK OF WHAT COULD BE WRONG. I SHUT THE VEHICLE OFF AND LEFT IT SITTING UNTIL I RETURNED ON 2/21/2010. UPON LOOKING, I NOTICED THAT THE SECOND CYLINDER IN FROM THE FIREWALL ON THE PASSENGER SIDE HAD EJECTED THE PLUG FROM THE CYLINDER WELL. WHEN I WENT TO TRY TO PUT THE PLUG BACK IN, IT WOULD NOT TIGHTEN. I JIGGLED THE PLUG AND RATCHET EXTENSION AND NOTICED THAT THE THREADED AREA TO ACCEPT THE PLUG WAS MUCH LARGER THAN THE STOCK PLUG. I UNDERSTAND THAT FORD HAS USED MANY EXCUSES AS TO WHY THIS HAPPENS, BUT I ASSURE YOU THAT I HAVE PURCHASED NO NEW PARTS. THIS VEHICLE IS NOW UNUSABLE, AND IS MY PRIMARY TRANSPORTATION TO AND FROM WORK. THERE IS OBVIOUSLY AN ISSUE WITH THESE MOTORS AND EJECTING PLUGS, SO MY QUESTION IS WHY HAS FORD NOT STEPPED UP TO ADDRESS THIS ISSUE? *TR

I PURCHASED A FORD F-150 IN 2006. I AM AT MY 100,000 MAINTENANCE AND THE SPARK PLUGS HAVE TO BE CHANGED. I SPOKE WITH A REPRESENTATIVE AT THE FORD REPAIR SHOP WHO TOLD ME THAT I WOULD HAVE TO BRING MY TRUCK IN 24 HOURS EARLY TO SOAK THE PLUGS BECAUSE THEY WILL BREAK IN THE MOTOR AND I WILL HAVE TO PAY TO HAVE THEM REMOVED. I FOLLOWED THERE INSTRUCTIONS ON MONDAY MORNING AND TOOK THE TRUCK TO THEM. THEY CALLED AND INFORMED ME THAT THEY WOULD HAVE TO TAKE THE HEAD OFF MY MOTOR TO REMOVE THE PLUGS AT A CONSIDERABLE EXPENSE TO ME. IT DOES NOT SEEM FAIR TO ME THAT IF FORD MECHANICS PUT FORD PLUGS INTO THERE FORD TRUCKS AND WHEN THERE FORD MECHANICS TRY TO REMOVE THE FORD PLUGS FROM THE FORD VEHICLE THEY BREAK AND I HAVE TO PAY FOR THE DAMAGES. *TR

WHILE DRIVING MY 2006 FORD F150, THE GEAR SHIFT CABLE MELTED DUE TO CONTACT WITH THE MANIFOLD. THIS CAUSE THE TRUCK TO STOP. I COULD NOT START THE TRUCK AGAIN. THIS HAPPENED WHEN I BACKED OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY. THE TRUCK WAS TAKEN TO THE FORD DEALER BY FLATBED. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 FORD F150 PICKUP TRUCK. HE STATED THAT UPON ATTEMPTING TO START THE VEHICLE , HE SMELLED A BURNING ODOR. UPON FURTHER INVESTIGATION, HE NOTICED ALL OF THE WIRES AND THE FLOORBOARD SURROUNDING THE EMERGENCY AND BRAKE PEDAL HAD CAUGHT FIRE OVERNIGHT WHILE SITTING IN HIS DRIVEWAY. HE ALSO NOTICED SOOT ALL OVER THE SEATS, WINDOWS AND DOOR PANELS OF THE VEHICLE. THE POLICE CALLED AND A REPORT WAS FILED. THE POLICE OFFICER STATED THAT THERE WERE NO SIGNS OF FORCED ENTRY AND THE DAMAGE WAS CAUSED BY AN INTERNAL FAILURE WITHIN THE TRUCK. NO REPAIRS HAVE BEEN MADE TO DATE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 64,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 FORD F150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH THE VEHICLE STALLED. SHE WAS ABLE TO RESTART IT AND TWO ATTEMPTS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND THEY WERE UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. THE FAILURE RECURRED FIVE TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE TECHNICIAN ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE COIL PACKS WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 6,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE PULLING INTO A PARKING LOT THE VEHICLE SHUT OFF. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE AND DRIVE HOME. A COUPLE OF DAYS LATER WHILE DRIVING AT 45 MPH THE VEHICLE SHUT OFF AGAIN WITH TRAFFIC BEHIND THE VEHICLE. THIS COULD HAVE CAUSED A CRASH DUE TO THE VEHICLE SHUTTING OFF WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT DROVE THE VEHICLE TO A DEALER AND HE REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY. SINCE THE REPAIR, THE CONTACT HAS BEEN ABLE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 58,000.
SPARKPLUG POPPING OUT WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH ON HIGHWAY ,THOUGHT IT WAS A BLOW OUT OF MY TIRE HAD TO QUICKLY MOVE OVER TO THE RIGHT AND EXIT .FOUND OUT IT WAS THE SPARKPLUG . LATER AFTER A FEW PHONE CALLS TO DEALERS AND MECHANICS THIS IS A PROBLEM THAT HAPPENS REGULARLY AND THAT FORD KNOWS ABOUT THIS PROBLEM. THIS SHOULD NEVER HAPPEN. I FEEL CHEATED AND I WOULD HAVE NEVER BOUGHT THIS TRUCK F-150 AT ALL IF I NEW ABOUT THIS. AFTER ALL THIS I WILL CONTACT THE MEDIA AND LOCAL PAPERS TO LET PEOPLE KNOW ABOUT THIS PROBLEM. I'M AN OWNER OF A 2006 FORD F-150 5.4 ENGINE. I HAVE HAD 3 ENGINE FAILURES WITH THIS TRUCK THE FIRST ONE WAS AN INJECTOR. SECOND WAS A TIMING SOLENOID. THIRD WAS A COIL. I HAD OVER 100,000 KMS. I HAD MY PLUGS CHANGED. THE MECHANIC ENDED UP BREAKING OFF 6 PLUGS IN THE ENGINE. THIS IS A VERY EXPENSIVE REPAIR, IT SHOULD ONLY BE REGULAR MAINTENANCE. I HAVE DONE A GREAT DEAL OF RESEARCH AND HAVE FOUND IT IS A VERY WIDESPREAD PROBLEM. I FEEL OWNERS SHOULD BE COMPENSATED. ANY ADVICE I CAN RECEIVE WOULD BE HELPFUL THANKS IN ADVANCE. *TR
ON FILLING UP WITH GAS AT A STATION, THE FRONT END OF THE GAS TANK FELL DOWN AND HIT THE GROUND. THE FRONT STRAP THAT HOLDS THE TANK RUSTED OUT AND BROKE. THE TRUCK IS 38 MONTHS OLD WITH 28000 MILES ON THE ODOMETER. NO VISIBLE RUST IS SHOWING ON THE PICK UP BED AND THE AUTOMOBILE HAS NEVER DRIVEN ON WINTER ROADS. I BOUGHT THE TRUCK NEW. MY 2006 F 150 HAS SHUT OFF TWICE ON ME WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY. AND AFTER BARELY AVOIDING THE SEMI BEHIND ME I MANAGED TO PULL OFF THE SIDE OF THE FREEWAY AND TURNED THE KEY OFF , AFTER WAITING ABOUT A MINUTE I TURNED THE KEY ON AND THE CAR RAN FINE FOR ABOUT THREE MONTHS AND THEN IT HAPPENED AGAIN ON THE FREEWAY.THE LIGHT COMES ON TO SIGNIFY THAT THE PROBLEM IS THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL, BUT I CALLED AROUND A FEW PLACES AND THEY ALL SAY THE SAME THING ,THEY CANT DO ANYTHING UNLESS THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON. I PURCHASED A FORD F150 TRUCK WITH 65,000 MILES FROM A FORD DEALER. AFTER MONITORING THE ENGINE OIL OVER THE FIRST 3 MONTHS I TOOK IT TO THE FORD DEALER 2 TIMES FOR AN ENGINE OIL CONSUMPTION TEST. THIS TRUCK USES 1 QUART OF OIL PER THOUSAND MILES BEING DRIVEN. IT DOES NOT LEAK OIL, IT BURNS IT. AFTER CONTACTING MY LOCAL FORD DEALER AS WELL AS FORD MOTOR COMPANY, THEY STATED THAT THIS IS "NORMAL." THIS IS NOT NORMAL FOR A 2006 VEHICLE. IN A TIME WHEN THE UNITED STATES IS CONCERNED WITH GLOBAL WARMING, THIS VEHICLE IS PRODUCING EMISSIONS THAT ARE WAY OUT OF THE ORDINARY. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 FORD F150. WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH HE HEARD CLANGING NOISES IN THE REAR END OF THE AXLE. HE THEN PULLED OVER TO INSPECT THE VEHICLE, BUT HE COULD NOT IDENTIFY THE CAUSE. AFTER SEVERAL DAYS WHILE DRIVING, THE FAILURE RESURFACED. UPON FURTHER INSPECTION HE NOTICED THAT THE CARRIER BEARING AND THE DRIVE SHAFT WERE LOOSE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND HE WAS ADVISED THAT THE THREE YEAR WARRANTY EXPIRED , THEREFORE, HE WOULD HAVE TO PURCHASE A NEW DRIVE SHAFT FOR $750.00 PLUS LABOR. FAILURE OF THE DRIVERS SIDE POWER WINDOW SWITCH. OVER A MATTER OF MONTHS, THE OPERATION OF THE SWITCH DETERIORATED. INITIALLY, WHEN THE DRIVERS DOOR WINDOW SWITCH WAS PRESSED TO CLOSE, THE WINDOW WOULD HESITATE. THIS HESITATION BECAME WORSE UNTIL THE WINDOW WOULD NOT CLOSE WITHOUT REPEATED ATTEMPTS TO CLOSE THE WINDOW. AT TIMES, THE WINDOW HAD TO REMAIN OPEN OVERNIGHT AND AT SOME POINT IN TIME, THE CLOSE BUTTON WOULD WORK AGAIN. THERE WAS NO CLEAR INDICATOR TO A CONDITION THAT WOULD INITIATE THIS PROBLEM, NOR WAS THERE ANY PROCEDURE TO RETURN THE SWITCH TO OPERATION (ASIDE FROM REPEATED ATTEMPTS TO CLOSE THE WINDOW. THE MATTER WAS BROUGHT TOP THE ATTENTION OF FORD DURING THE FULL WARRANTY PERIOD AND THE DRIVERS DOOR WINDOW SWITCH ASSEMBLY REPLACED. THIS REPAIR APPEARS TO HAVE RESOLVED THE PROBLEM (IT HAS NOT OCCURRED SINCE). THIS INCIDENT IS BEING REPORTED AFTER LEARNING OF NUMEROUS OTHERS WHO HAVE EXPERIENCED THIS FAILURE. THESE CONVERSATIONS WERE WITH OTHERS OF F-150 AND OTHER FORD VEHICLES OF THE 2005-2006 ERA. A HIGH PERCENTAGE HAVE EXPERIENCED THIS PROBLEM. IF THE FAILURE OCCURRED UNDER THE 3YR/36,000 MILE WARRANTY, SWITCHES WERE NORMALLY REPLACED WITH NO COST TO THE VEHICLE OWNER. HOWEVER, M LARGE PORTION OF PEOPLE HAVE EXPERIENCED THIS CONDITION SHORTLY BEYOND THE WARRANTY PERIOD AND HAVE HAD TO LIVE WITH THE DEFECTIVE SWITCH OR PAY FOR REPLACEMENT. I REPORTED MY CATALYTIC CONVERTERS WENT BAD TO RICHMOND FORD LLC. I HAVE A 2006 FORD F-150 XLT WITH 44,000 MILES. THE SERVICE MANAGER INFORMED ME THAT THE 3 YEAR, 36,000 MILE FACTORY WARRANTY WAS PAST. IT WAS DURING A ROUTINE STATE INSPECTION MY MECHANIC FOUND THE ISSUE. I AGAIN CALLED MY MECHANIC. HE INFORMED THAT THERE IS AN 8 YEAR 80,000 MILE FEDERAL EMISSIONS WARRANTY. I AGAIN CALLED RICHMOND FORD LLC. SPOKE WITH THE SERVICE MANAGER, HE TOLD ME THAT THERE WAS NO SUCH WARRANTY. I HAD TO TAKE MY TRUCK TO A LOCAL EXHAUST SPECIALIST. IT TOOK A WEEK AND OVER $2000 TO REPAIR MY TRUCK. I CALLED FORD MOTOR COMPANIES CUSTOMER CARE LINE. THEY INFORMED ME THERE WAS A FEDERAL EMISSIONS WARRANTY AND IT WAS FOR 8 YEARS OR 80,000 MILES. NOW I AM OUT $2000 AND I AM FIGHTING WITH FORD TO RECOVER MY EXPENSES, LOST TIME FROM WORK WITH NO SUCCESS CAN YOU ASSIST OR PROVIDE ME WITH ANY CONTACT INFORMATION TO ASSIST ME IN THIS MATTER. SLOW AIR LEAK IN TIRE. DEALER FOUND A CRACK IN THE INSIDE OF THE WHEEL NEXT TO THE TIRE BEAD. CRACK IS ONLY ON THE INSIDE, VERTICAL FACE OF THE WHEEL. THIS IS THE FIRST TIME FOR THIS FAILURE ON THIS VEHICLE SINCE I OWNED IT. THE SERVICE PERSON OFFERED TO SELL ME A NEW WHEEL. I ASSUME THIS PART IS OEM AND HAS NEVER BEEN REPLACED.
