AT CERTAIN SPEEDS THE CAR STALLS WHEN CHANGING GEARS
MY HUSBAND WAS BACKING OUT OF OUR DRIVEWAY AND HAD SUDDEN ACCELERATION THAT SPUN HIM UP ONTO THE LAWN AND FINALLY THE VEHICLE WAS STOPPED AFTER HITTING OUR HOUSE AND GOING THROUGH THE WALL. THE TRUCK STOPPED WITH THE BACK WHEELS INSIDE THE HOUSE WITH THE ENGINE CONTINUING TO REV.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 FORD F-150. WHEN THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO SHIFT OUT OF THE PARK POSITION AT A CAR WASH, THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED OUT OF CONTROL. THE VEHICLE CROSSED THE ROAD, WENT INTO AN APARTMENT COMPLEX, AND CRASHED INTO A CONCRETE BLOCK. ALL FOUR TIRES WERE FLATTENED. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED AND THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE. THE DEALER (SABINE RIVER FORD IN ORANGE, TEXAS) WAS CONTACTED AND STATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL AND THAT THE FAILURE WAS UNUSUAL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER PLACED THE CONTACT ON HOLD FOR TWENTY-FIVE MINUTES AND DID NOT RETURN TO THE PHONE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 112,000.

WHEN STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT MY ENGINE BEGAN TO REV. AT VERY HIGH RPM'S AND THE TIRES BURNED OUT WHEN I SHIFTED THE TRANSMISSION INTO NEUTRAL. I PURCHASED THIS TRUCK IN DEC. 2013 AND THIS WAS APPROX. THE VEHICLE CRASHED INTO A BUILDING AND STOPPED WHEN IT HIT A SNOW BANK. THE CONTACT WAS NOT INJURED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A LOCAL SHOP WHERE THEY DIAGNOSED THAT IT WAS POSSIBLE FOR THE PEDALS TO GET STUCK IN COLD WEATHER. THE VEHICLE WAS BEING REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. I OWN A 2006 FORD F150 PICKUP TRUCK. ON 07/15/2010 I NOTICED THAT THE CRUISE CONTROL DASHBOARD INDICATOR LAMP CAME ON SEVERAL TIMES WITHOUT ME ENGAGING THE CONTROL. LATER I DURING THE EVENING I NOTICED NOT ONLY THE CRUISE CONTROL DASHBOARD INDICATOR LAMP TURNING ON AND OFF, BUT ALSO THE RIGHT SIDE STEERING WHEEL CRUISE CONTROL BUTTONS WERE NOT LIGHTING UP THOUGH THE HEADLAMPS WERE ON. I ATTEMPTED TO GET THE ISSUED REPAIRED AT THE LOCAL DEALER, BUT CLOSEST APPOINTMENT WAS AT THE END OF FOLLOWING WEEK. TWO DAYS LATER, ON 07/17/2010 I WAS OPERATING THE TRUCK, I EXPERIENCED THE CRUISE CONTROL ENGAGING AS I ACCELERATED. THE TRUCK CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE EVEN THOUGH I HAD NOT ENGAGED THE CRUISE CONTROL, NOR WAS MY FOOT ON THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. I WAS ABLE TO REGAIN CONTROL BY DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL AND PUTTING THE TRANSMISSION INTO NEUTRAL. I BROUGHT THE TRUCK TO NEAREST FORD DEALER FOR REPAIR. WHILE TRAVELING THE APPROXIMATELY 5 MILE RIDE, THE CRUISE CONTROL CONTINUE TO ENGAGE ON ITS OWN. THE FORD DEALER WAS ABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM, CITING A DEFECTIVE CRUISE CONTROL SWITCH. THE SWITCH WAS REPLACED AND NOW THE VEHICLE APPEARS TO OPERATING PROPERLY. *TR
WHILE BRAKING THE MOTOR SURGED CAUSING ME TO HAVE TO SWERVE TO AVOID HITTING ANOTHER CAR. EVEN WITH MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE THE TRUCK DID NOT FULLY RESPOND. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 FORD F150 PICKUP TRUCK. HE STATED THAT UPON ATTEMPTING TO START THE VEHICLE , HE SMELLED A BURNING ODOR. UPON FURTHER INVESTIGATION, HE NOTICED ALL OF THE WIRES AND THE FLOORBOARD SURROUNDING THE EMERGENCY AND BRAKE PEDAL HAD CAUGHT FIRE OVERNIGHT WHILE SITTING IN HIS DRIVEWAY. HE ALSO NOTICED SOOT ALL OVER THE SEATS, WINDOWS AND DOOR PANELS OF THE VEHICLE. THE POLICE CALLED AND A REPORT WAS FILED. THE POLICE OFFICER STATED THAT THERE WERE NO SIGNS OF FORCED ENTRY AND THE DAMAGE WAS CAUSED BY AN INTERNAL FAILURE WITHIN THE TRUCK. NO REPAIRS HAVE BEEN MADE TO DATE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 64,000.

THE CONTACT DROVE THE VEHICLE TO A DEALER AND HE REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY. SINCE THE REPAIR, THE CONTACT HAS BEEN ABLE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 58,000.

TL* - ON DECEMBER 20, 2006, THE CONTACT RECEIVED A CALL FROM THE POLICE DEPARTMENT STATING HIS 1995 FORD F150 AND THE CAR PORT WERE ON FIRE AT HIS RESIDENCE. THE VEHICLE CAUGHT FIRE UNDER THE HOOD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN PARKED FOR TWO MONTHS. A WITNESS STATED THAT THE VEHICLE SOUNDED AS IF IT WERE TRYING TO START ON ITS OWN. THE WITNESS LOOKED INTO THE VEHICLE AND CONFIRMED THAT NO ONE WAS IN IT AND CALLED 911. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THERE WERE NO RECENT REPAIRS TO THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE HAD APPROXIMATELY 210,000 MILES ON IT. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT STATED THE CAUSE OF THE FIRE TO BE A FAULTY SPEED CONTROL DEACTIVATION SWITCH. ONCE HE HAD THE VEHICLE IN GEAR WITHOUT FOOT ON THE ACCELERATION PEDAL THE VEHICLE WILL ACCELERATE UNEXPECTEDLY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WILL ACCELERATE FOR A FEW SECONDS AND THEN RELEASE ITSELF. IT ACCELERATED WHEN VEHICLE WAS IN DRIVE OR REVERSE GEAR. ONE TIME WHEN THE CONTACT WAS ON THE HIGHWAY IN CRUISE CONTROL AT 70 MPH ON AN EXIT RAMP, WHEN HE PRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL TO RELEASE THE CRUISE CONTROL AND SUDDENLY THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED FOR ABOUT 3 SECONDS. CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP ON 11/01/06 AND THEY PUT A BOX THAT CONTACT STATED WORKED LIKE A BLACK BOX ON THE PLANE TO DIAGNOSE VEHICLE FAILURE. THE CONTACT HAD THE BOX ON FOR 6 WEEKS AND THE DEALERSHIP WASN'T ABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. *AK UPDATED 1/30/2007 - *NM
