The ABS CONTROL MODULE has gone out therefore there isn’t any all wheel braking control for the vehicle. I know of my vehicle and several more that have this same problem. They range from 2007 up to 2012. With this problem also they will not pass State Emissions Inspection. I just inherited my vehicle. I was the owner of a repair shop and had several pickups with this very problem. This repair cost from Ford is over $1,000.00. This seems to be a recurring failure with the brake system.
WHILE UNDER WARRANTY THE ROTORS BECAME WARPED. I TOOK THE TRUCK INTO THE DEALER AND THEY GROUND THE ROTORS WHICH MADE THEM THINNER AND MORE VULNERABLE TO WARPING WHICH OCCURRED IMMEDIATELY. FORD REFUSED TO REPLACE THE ROTORS. THE PADS WERE FINE INDICATING THAT THE PROBLEM WAS NOT AN OPERATOR PROBLEM. I TOOK THE TRUCK TO AN INDEPENDENT REPAIR SHOP WHERE THEY CONCLUDED THAT THE ROTORS WERE NOT SUFFICIENT FOR THE VEHICLE. THEY REPLACED THE ROTORS WITH A MORE SUBSTANTIAL ROTOR AT A COST OF $1400 AND I HAVE HAD NO PROBLEM SINCE.
WHEN I STARTED MY ENGINE IT BACKFIRED. FROM THAT POINT ON I HAD TO PRESS EXTREMELY HARD ON THE BRAKE PEDAL JUST TO SLOW DOWN AND EVENTUALLY TO STOP. IN AN EMERGENCY SITUATION IT WOULD WITHOUT A DOUBT HAVE RESULTED IN AN ACCIDENT. THE INCIDENT IS EXACTLY AS INDICATED IN THE RECALL NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 08V208000 (FORD RECALL #08S05) FOR THE SAME VEHICLE, EXCEPT MODEL YEAR 2005 AND 2006. WHEN I CONTACTED FORD I WAS TOLD THAT THE VEHICLE WAS MANUFACTURED IN AUGUST OF 2006, BUT THAT IT WAS NOT COVERED UNDER THIS RECALL. *TR
THE FRONT BRAKE ROTORS WARPED FOR THE SECOND TIME. THE FIRST TIME WAS AT APPROXIMATELY 49K MILES. THIRTY-THREE THOUSAND MILES LATER THEY ARE WARPED AGAIN. THE FIRST TIME THEY HAD TO BE COMPLETELY REPLACED. THEY WERE WARPED TOO BAD TO MACHINE THEM. THIS TIME, THE RIGHT FRONT ROTOR HAD TO BE TURNED FOUR TIMES BY THE DEALERSHIP TO GET THE WARPING OUT. THE OTHERS ONLY ONE TURN. THERE SEEMS TO BE A DESIGN FLAW IN THE BRAKING SYSTEM FOR MULTIPLE YEARS OF FORD F-150 TRUCKS. THE SYSTEM WAS COMPLETELY REDESIGNED FOR MODEL YEAR 2009 AND THE PROBLEM SEEMS TO BE GONE. UNFORTUNATELY, I BELIEVE THE DESIGN IS ALSO CONNECTED WITH THE BRAKE PEDAL AND ACCELERATOR PEDAL PROBLEM REPORTED ALSO TO THE NHTSA FOR THIS YEAR (2007) MODEL F-150. UNFORTUNATELY, BECAUSE IT IS CLASSIFIED AS A BRAKING PROBLEM, THE WARRANTIES (FACTORY AND EXTENDED) DO NOT COVER THE EXPENSE OF MACHINING OR REPLACING THE ROTORS. THIS CAN BE SEVERAL HUNDRED DOLLARS EXPENSE TO THE VEHICLE OWNER WHEN IT APPEARS TO BE A DESIGN PROBLEM THAT SHOULD BE HANDLED BY THE FACTORY THRU A RECALL. FORTUNATELY, MY DEALERSHIP HAS WORKED WITH ME SO FAR TO HELP HANDLE THE EXPENSE. FOR CUSTOMER SATISFACTION REASONS, THEY DID NOT CHARGE ME THIS LAST TIME AS THEY REALIZE ROTORS, UNDER NORMAL DRIVING, SHOULD NOT HAVE TO BE REPLACED OR MACHINED WITHIN 30K MILES, ESPECIALLY WHEN THERE IS HARDLY ANY BRAKE PAD WEAR. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THE FRONT DRIVERS SIDE BRAKES LOCKED, AND THE VEHICLE CAME TO A SLOW STOP. A LOCAL MECHANIC DIAGNOSED THAT A NEW HOSE WAS NEEDED TO REPAIR THE FAILURE. THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED, BUT DENIED ASSISTANCE WITH THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 22,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 22,397.
2007 FORD F-150. CONSUMER WRITES TO EXPRESS DISSATISFACTION WITH LOCAL DEALER *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED AFTER HE PURCHASED THE VEHICLE, HE IMMEDIATELY COMPLAINED TO THE DEALER ABOUT NOT BEEN ABLE TO READ ONE GAUGE DURING DAYLIGHT BECAUSE OF THE COLOR ARRANGEMENT. THE CONSUMER ALSO STATED THERE WAS AN ISSUE WITH THE BRAKE AND GAS PEDALS, BUT SOMEONE MADE AN ADJUSTMENT AND CORRECTED THE PROBLEM. *JB
I RETURNED MY FORD F-150 TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR THE THIRD TIME TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM WITH THE BRAKE PEDAL TRAVELING PAST THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL DURING NORMAL BRAKING. FORD IS NOT RECOGNIZING THE PROBLEM AND THE DEALERSHIP SALES MANAGER ACKNOWLEDGES HE HAS REPLICATED THE PROBLEM INTERMITTENTLY; HOWEVER, BECAUSE FORD REFUSES TO ACKNOWLEDGE THE PROBLEM THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO. I HAVE SEEN THIS PROBLEM REPORTED IN OTHER CASES ON THE NHTSA WEBSITE, AND I BELIEVE IT IS TIME FOR NHTSA TO INVESTIGATE BEFORE DEATHS ARE REPORTED FROM BRAKING/ACCELERATING THROUGH STOP SIGNS/LIGHTS AND HITTING OR BEING HIT BY SOMEONE. I BELIEVE THE PROBLEM IS SOMEHOW ALSO RELATED TO THE FRONT BRAKE ROTORS WARPING WITHIN A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME (20K - 30K MILES). *TR
WHEN APPLYING THE BRAKE, THE PEDAL TRAVELS BELOW THE ACCELERATOR CAUSING THE FOOT TO PRESS ON THE BRAKE AND ACCELERATOR AT THE SAME TIME. ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS, I HAVE RUN THROUGH STOP LIGHTS/SIGNS TRYING TO COME TO A STOP, AND ON OCCASION HAVE ALMOST HIT OTHER VEHICLES. ANOTHER TIME, I WAS BEHIND THE TRUCK GUIDING SOMEONE IN THE TRUCK WHILE BACKING UP. NOT BEING FAMILIAR WITH THE TRUCK, WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL TRAVELLED PASE THE ACCELERATOR, HIS FOOT CAUSED BOTH TO BE DEPRESSED AT THE SAME TIME ALMOST RUNNING OVER ME BEFORE JUMPING OUT OF THE WAY JUST IN TIME. THIS CONTINUES TO HAPPEN AND RELATED TO THE PROBLEM I BELIEVE IS THE FRONT ROTORS KEEP WARPING. THE ROTORS WERE REPLACED AT THIS INCIDENT TIME BECAUSE THE FORD DEALERSHIP THOUGHT THAT MIGHT BE THE ISSUE. IT DID NOT CORRECT THE ISSUE AND THEY ONLY CHARGED MY HALF-PRICE. *TR
ACCELERATES WHILE DEPRESSING THE BRAKE, WENT TO STOP AND TRUCK ACCELERATED, DO TO THE FACT THE BRAKE PEDAL IS TO CLOSE TO THE GAS PEDAL, HAS HAPPENED NUMEROUS TIMES, INCIDENTS, 1 ALMOST DROVE INTO AN INTERSECTION, 2 ALMOST RAN OVER A PEDESTRIAN STOPPING TO LET THEM CROSS THE ROAD, 3 ALMOST REAR ENDED ANOTHER CAR, THESE PROBLEMS HAVE ALL HAPPENED NUMEROUS TIMES, EVENTUALLY SOMEONE IS GOING TO DIE BECAUSE OF THIS PROBLEM. *TR
AT SLOW SPEEDS, 5 TO 10 MPH, AND WHEN THE ENGINE IS COLD, WHEN YOU ATTEMPT TO BRAKE FOR A STOP, THE ENGINE CAN REV TO 1750 TO 2000 RPM, PROHIBITING YOUR STOP, POTENTIALLY CAUSING AN ACCIDENT. A HARD BRAKING ACTION IS NECESSARY OR SHIFTING TO NEUTRAL IS REQUIRED. AFTER DISCUSSING THIS COMPLAINT WITH ANOTHER FORD TRUCK OWN, WE'D DECIDED THAT OUR RIGHT FOOT WAS NOT ONLY ATTEMPTING TO DEPRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL, BUT ALSO THE GAS PEDAL SIMULTANEOUSLY. BOTH ARE IN CLOSE PROXIMITY OF EACH OTHER, WHICH PROVIDES FOR THIS OPPORTUNITY. I'D SUGGEST A DESIGN CHANGE, TOWARD FORD, SEPARATING THE TWO PEDALS SLIGHTLY IN A BETTER ATTEMPT TO AVOID THIS FROM HAPPENING. WHILE DRIVING ON STATE HIGHWAY, APPLIED BRAKE, BRAKE PEDAL WENT SLOWLY TO THE FLOOR, AND VEHICLE DID NOT SLOW, CONTINUED ON HELPLESS, UNTIL STRIKING A VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME. CALLED DEALER WHERE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED, THEY SAID THEY WERE NOT AWARE OF ANY BRAKE PROBLEMS WITH THIS MODEL. CALLED FORD DIRECT, AND THEY SAID THEY WERE NOT AWARE OF ANY BRAKE PROBLEMS WITH THIS MODEL. INSURANCE ADJUSTER WILL BE HERE TODAY, I WILL NOT LET ANYONE TOUCH THIS VEHICLE UNTIL THIS PROBLEM IS RESOLVED, I HAVE NOT SLEPT FOR DAYS, NOT BECAUSE OF MY INJURIES, BUT THE HAUNTING THOUGHTS OF KNOWING I COULD HAVE KILLED SOMEONE. *TR

I HAVE A 2007 FORD, F150 EXTENDED CAB, THE BRAKE ROTOR HAVE WARPED. THIS COULD BE A SAFETY PROBLEM IF THIS A REGULAR OCCURRENCE WITH THIS MODEL. THE SHOP WHICH I CARRIED MY VEHICLE TO TOLD ME THAT IF THE COMPANY USED CERTAIN BRANDS OF ROTORS THAT WERE MADE IN FOREIGN COUNTRIES WON'T STAND UP TO HEAT. AT 12000 MILES THE ROTORS ARE COMPLETELY WARPING. IT'S ESPECIALLY NOTICEABLE WHEN DRIVING AT SPEEDS OF OVER 50 MPH. I CAN SEE AND FEEL THE BED BOUNCING AND CAN FEEL IT IN THE STEERING WHEEL. DEALER WILL DO NOTHING UNDER WARRANTY. THEY SAID THEY WOULD LOOK AT THEM BUT WOULD HAVE TO CHARGE ME. I ALSO SPOKE WITH FORD DIRECTLY, THEY WILL ALSO OFFER NO ASSISTANCE. MY TRUCK STARTING HAVING BRAKES PROBLEMS (VIBRATION WHEN STOPPING) AT AROUND 25,000 MILES. TOOK IT IN TO DEALERSHIP FOR INSPECTION WITH 29,000 MILES ON IT. ENDED UP MACHINING ALL ROTORS (NOT UNDER WARRANTY). I'M NOW EXPERIENCING THE SAME PROBLEM AT 42,000 MILES. I BELIEVE THE ROTORS AND CALIPERS ARE SEVERELY UNDERSIZED CONSIDERING THE WEIGHT OF THE TRUCK. I SUGGEST THAT FORD MAKE GOOD ON THE NEXT BRAKE JOB. HAD A 88 CHEVY P/U AND WENT 75,000 MILES BEFORE REPLACING THE FRONT PADS. FORD HAS ERRED ON IT'S ENGINEERING. *TR
HAVE EXPERIENCED EXTENSIVE BRAKE DUST ON THE FRONT WHEELS ALMOST FROM DAY 1. LATELY, AT ABOUT 28,000 MILES THE FRONT END WOBBLES AND SHIMMIES WHEN BRAKING. NOT SO BAD AT LOWER SPEEDS BUT REALLY BAD IF YOU HAVE TO BRAKE FAIRLY HARD WHILE ON AN INTERSTATE HIGHWAY FROM SPEEDS OF 65 MPH OR MORE. HAD TIRES ROTATED AND BALANCED WHICH HELPED A BIT BUT PROBLEM STILL EXISTS. *TR

WITHIN 10,000 MILES, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THE ROTORS WERE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER ADVISED THE BRAKES WOULD NOT BE COVERED UNDER WARRANTY AND THERE WERE NO RECALLS ON THE VEHICLE PERTAINING TO BRAKES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 10,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE 40,606.
BRAKES ARE SPONGY AND BLEED DOWN, REPEATED SHORT BRAKING BETWEEN STOPLIGHTS PEDAL WENT TO THE STOP, TOOK IT TO DEALERSHIP, MECH. CHECKED IT SAID IT WAS NORMAL, OTHER F150 OWNERS SAY NOT LIKE THEIR BRAKES. HARD BRAKING LAST WEEK PEDAL WENT TO STOP ALMOST RESULTING IN REAREND COLLISION. THERE HAVE BEEN 3 INSTANCES BRAKES HAVE WENT TO THE STOP NEAR THE FLOORBOARD BRAKING FROM SPEED. DOESN'T HAPPEN EVERY TIME. *TR
2007 F150 4X4 SUPERCREW: AFTER 12000 MILES FRONT BRAKE ROTOR WEAR WAS NOTED AS ABNORMAL BY TECHNICIAN. DEEP GROVES HAVE CONTINUED TO FORM IN BOTH FRONT BRAKE ROTORS. VEHICLE MILEAGE IS CURRENTLY AT 26,000 AND GROVES IN BOTH FRONT ROTORS CONTINUE TO GET DEEPER. TECHNICIANS AT DEALERSHIP CONTINUE TO SAY, QUOTE, "THE BRAKE PADS ARE REALLY HARD ON THE ROTORS BUT THE ONLY THING WE CAN DO IS TURN THE ROTORS, BUT IT WILL JUST GET WORSE UNLESS I REPLACE THE PADS. EVERY 2007 F150 OWNER I HAVE TALKED WITH AND LOOKED AT THEIR ROTORS HAVE THE SAME EXACT PROBLEM AND THE DEALERSHIPS ARE UNWILLING TO CORRECT. *TR
